How much worse could it sound?  These are serious whack jobs.  Nice audience, Casey.  This is what you attract.

Hundreds Of Letters Sent To Casey Released

ORLANDO, Fla. -- WFTV took a close look at hundreds of letters sent to Casey Anthony, many from complete strangers. Some want her to find religion, some want to marry her, some say they hate her and some want to help her lose weight.
Some of the letters also came from Casey Anthony's family. All were written to Casey since she's been locked up in the Orange County jail.

More than 5,000 pages of letters were released to WFTV Friday. One thing is sure, after reading the letters, a lot of people are following the case from all over.

Casey’s parents wrote and begged Casey to let them see her at the jail and begged her to write to them.

WFTV took a closer look at a particularly cryptic and emotional letter from George Anthony. It's one of many he's written to Casey during the past two years.

In most of his letters, George offers love and support and begs Casey to let him visit her.

But WFTV found out another letter was just sent at the end of March, where George Anthony was apparently "very upset" with Casey. George accused her of destroying their family.

In the letter, he demanded answers from Casey Anthony.

However, in his previous letters he called her “beautiful” and “sweetheart” and told her how much he loved her.

But that changed on March 25, 2010.
George Anthony begged Casey to let him visit her in jail. He always told her he loved her and missed her and Caylee.

He said he loved her "no matter what," emphasizing that statement.

In November of 2009, he said he was going to schedule visits with her at the jail and begged her to agree to see him. He told her he needed to hug her, hear her voice, and see her face if only for a minute.

George believed Casey's lawyers were stopping her from visiting with him and said "you can make it happen. You're the boss. So what if the media gets some of it.” He told her that the conversation would be under her control.

WFTV learned Friday that George scheduled a visit with Casey one week after Caylee's remains were found, but he never saw her.

In one letter, George lamented over not being a better father. In March 2009, he told Casey she had put on weight and told her "just be careful.”

George Anthony signed his letters, "Papa Joe." Caylee used to call him “Joe Joe.”

But just three months ago, George wrote a very different letter, days after Casey's lawyers got copies of her letters to another jail inmate where she claimed her brother Lee and George had molested her when she was a child.
George was very angry about that accusation. He said defense attorney Jose Baez delivered disturbing news and asked two heartbreaking questions. He said he was numb.

George asked Casey, “Why destroy Lee? Why destroy me your family, and even Caylee after all he had sacrificed.”

Then, the letter just ended. He did not say that he loved her, nor did he call her sweetheart.
CINDY SENT CASEY PHOTOS OF CAYLEE

Cindy Anthony wrote about her heartache over losing both of them and sent Casey photos of Caylee. She sent some of the Caylee photos a month before Caylee's remains were found near their house.

Of one photo Cindy wrote: "One of my favorites. She was trying to tell us something even then. She loves her momma."

The jail won't say whether Casey has the photos up in her cell.

Cindy apologized for not writing more often, telling Casey, “I speak to you every day, as I do to Caylee,” and that she used to seek refuge in Casey's and Caylee's rooms, but it had become almost unbearable.

Cindy told Casey she felt better about herself after getting her tattoo in Caylee's honor. Cindy said she was angry that the photos of Casey's tattoo, which also showed sores on her back, were released and that she was worried about Casey's health.

Cindy begged Casey to write back, even though Casey had been told not to. In one letter, Cindy wrote, “I love you more today than ever. You know how much you have always meant to me.”

In strangers' letters, WFTV found a $300 check and someone told Casey she should marry Joran van der Sloot, because they're "both compulsive liars and killers."
An Orlando woman, who wrote Casey a supportive letter before Caylee was found, told WFTV on Friday that her compassion has waned.

“If it wasn't her, then she knows something, ‘cause you don't wait 30 days. If my dogs were missing 30 seconds, I'd be freaking out,” Tammie Foster told WFTV.

Cindy told Casey she had to mail letters, because defense attorney Jose Baez couldn't bring them to her anymore; if he was ever caught doing it, he could have lost his privileges to meet with Casey at the jail.

It’s unknown if Casey ever wrote back.
WHAT'S NEXT IN THE CASE?

There's a hearing scheduled for July 15 and, unlike the last hearing, Casey is required to be there. During the hearing, they're expected to discuss Cindy's frantic 911 call to report Caylee missing. They will also go over records from the group Texas EquuSearch.

Meanwhile, the defense has scheduled depositions for two new witnesses. A woman who helped search near the area where Caylee Anthony’s remains were found will be deposed in August.

In July, a second witness will give his deposition and Casey's lawyers also plan to question experts at the Oakridge National Lab in Tennessee.

Question for all monkeys...I've been thinking...how do these letters get to BE discovery,anyway?   Do they go through her jail cell regularly and confiscate anything of a personal nature?  Is there a standing request from the Sheriff's office to hand over anything written to Casey?  I've just never understood how this works.

OMG! I fell asleep for 3 hours while reading the first set of letters.
I have to admit, I was getting a kick out of the negative ones, especially the one called Twat Mom. (LMAO).

All of this " Reading behind the Scenes" Sunshine Law - ( which is good in many ways) The Anthony's letters though. Just reading them today " Drained Me" and I did not read all of the letters. In fact I glanced through most all written by GA and CA. Just the " sentences" of their handwriting ..that grabbed my attention, did I allow myself to read. For the most part though I find Cindy to be - One of the most " Patronizing Mother's, Women " My Top not Ten - don't need to offer up Ten for Cindy. 
Definitions of Cindy -
A person who is habitually cruel or overbearing, especially to smaller or weaker people. Person who deals with people in a patronizingly superior manner.
Person: that is to force one's way aggressively or by intimidation
My throwing in the infamous " Sweetheart" Cindy's coined  "Sweetheart". It is not said out of admiration or love though. Its a twisted knife " used as word " as patronizing. Casey behind bars ( first arrested) MOM I saw you on the news, one of your Cameos, snort/valley girl jibber.. etc..

Pay attention to the audio of Casey - she Turns into Cindy verbally to Christine ( my recall her name is Christine) .. She Casey takes the Lead and Runs with it - chastising this woman for wanting to help her. Wanting to aid in finding Caylee.
Casey is all over her .. Over the top with this woman. She is creating herself as " I am bigger than my Charges" not that she is able to get her own self out of jail. But she professes in her language that Everyone is beneath her and all she wants to concentrate on is Tony - and for all to do as she says. " Quite the BOSS " isn't she. As GA Calls her.

After reading George's last letter, I think our curiosity is satisfied relevant to his whereabouts at the last few court hearings.
it appears to me that he is devastated over the accusations Casey made about him and Lee.
I didn't read anything sinister into the Papa Jo bit. Casey probably called him that and we just didn't know that. Just like she refers to Caylee as Cays in her letters to her jailhouse buddy.

George knows she's guilty as sin, he was a cop for crying out loud. As a father, it's understandable that he doesn't want to see her get sentenced to death. As has been stated time and time again, if they made Casey acknowledge her guilt and then still stood by her, it would be much less repugnant than their denial shtick.

Odd that there are no letters from Lee, and we didn't get get his last depo. or Mallory's. They must be chock full of info.
Seems that they won't confirm or deny if any letters are being held back, and won't confirm or deny if Casey has answered any of them.

Saw no letters from Lee, but read 1 from Mallory....it was typed....and was day before the superbowl. She's still drinking the koolaid from the sounds of it.

George is furious for sure...the last letter telling Casey he was called to have a chit chat visit with Jose.....he was asked 2 questions.....I'm assuming about the sexual abuse......I think George has had enough of princess poopie pants.

I couldn't take any more letters from the whackadoodles writing to the skank...

I haven't come across Mallory's letter yet. I fell asleep reading the letters from the crazies and religious zealots.
I'd love to know if she answers any of them!

Good morning, Monkeys.  OMG It is morning and I've been reading this twaddle for a couple of hours.  Have lots of thoughts about it all, but I am just astounded that George thought Casey needed to have her driver's license renewed so she wouldn't have to take all the tests again.  Doesn't that idiot get it?  Casey isn't going anywhere!!! She won't be driving ever again.

I find his calling her "Beautiful" to be odd and also his comment about her weight gain.  He advised her to exercise more.  She's not at a fat farm, she's in jail.  Words fail me.

Morning, Monkeys! Thanks to all for posting snippets of the letters and actual letters for the rest of us.

Thanks bunches, Trimm, for the concise set of links for George and Cindy's letters!  You rock! 

The overriding thought throughout reading Cindy's letters is I can't believe how blind Cindy is.  "There is none so blind as he who will not see.".  Cindy, who claims to be so in touch with Casey, knows her so well, is the the only one who knows how to deal with Casey (telling George, in essence, "back off" when he'd have evidence of Casey lying)...doesn't get it.  IMO, because of Cindy's emotional needs to be the be-all-end-all, she will not see what is clearly and painfully obvious to the rest of us.  I have a family member similar to Cindy.  She thinks she's so necessary to everyone, so helpful, sees herself as everyone's confidante/counselor/rescuer.  In reality, she's more just tolerated (sometimes barely by some).  Cindy's so consumed with her own self, she refuses the reality that Casey hates her just like she hated Caylee.  Cindy sending pics of Caylee with "love notes from Caylee" is just more of Cindy shoving Caylee down Casey's throat, more of Cindy pushing herself (her feelings, her love need) onto Casey.  Cindy absolutely needs Casey to affirm herself...not because she loves Casey, but because her value is wrapped up in Casey.  IMO, Casey's known this "from Day One" and has used it her advantage and as her weapon of choice, prior to Caylee.

Likewise, George is overly needy where Casey is concerned.  Reading his letters sent up all kinds of red flags.  Like most of you, they came across as being written by a lover to me also.  I know with all certainty if I were in jail, the very last thing on my father's mind would be weight gain. Seriously!  What is wrong with these people???!!!  George seems overly consumed with Casey's appearance, but I wonder if it's because Casey is so appearance-oriented and so he's speaking her "language".  His constantly referencing her hugs in his letters though, makes me feel sick.  The whole Papa Joe thing is weird.  Casey references George as "Dad" when talking directly to him and in conversations (letters/emails/calls) with others.  By George and Cindy's admission, Caylee called George Jo-Jo.  Neither my parents, nor my in-laws refer to themselves by their grandparent nicknames when they converse with us or write to us. Point is, those names are used within the context of the relationship.  So why would George be signing letters to Casey with a grandparent nickname?  Is he unable to separate and distinguish Caylee from Casey?  Given Cindy's issues with distinguishing Casey from herself, her overbearing personality, and how long George and Cindy have lived together, maybe so.  IMO, Caylee was always considered an extension of Casey (who, at least to Cindy, was an extension of Cindy).  What a convoluted mess!  It's interesting that George refers to his "life being over" long before the sexual abuse allegations surfaced...because Casey was in jail for murdering Caylee.  Where does that say about Lee?  George clearly feels that way because he repeats it in her letters.  What does that say to Lee?  That Casey is the only child worth living for?  I have a feeling at some point in Lee's childhood, he was discounted (and I don't mean in price).  IMO, he was deemed as "less than" Casey, resulting in George and Cindy sidelining him and pinning all their hopes (attention, praise, etc.) on Casey.  Big mistake!  Not sure if the devaluing was the result of a physiological problem with Lee (result of his "serious illness", autism/Asperger's Syndrome-?) or psychological problems with Casey that commanded the family's focus.

Just MO, but the family dynamics are so perverted (twisted and diverging from the norm) and convoluted (lacking normal parental and familial boundaries), that they created or fed Casey's sociopathic tendencies (or both). It's as if Casey was elevated as some sort of god (intentional little g, as in idol) that all their lives revolved around.  Reading both Cindy's and George's letters, there's definitely the sense that Casey is the pinnacle of the family.  She, alone, has the power to destroy the family (per George's last letter).  She clearly controls the family.  Although I doubt Lee is a saint (the high five, the secret sleuthing, the CMA scene, secrets vindictively kept from the parents ), I do feel somewhat sorry for him as a human being.  Second best is a hard place to live.  IMO, Casey has very successfully found each members weakness and exploited it to her advantage:  using Caylee as leverage over Cindy; using Cindy's and George's neediness to freeload; and using Lee's need to feel important/superior (and maybe get back a little at the parents) to keep her secrets.  The big question is:  Is the family a closed society due to the family dysfunction or is the family a closed society because of the family dysfunction?  It's the classic, Which Came First-the chicken or the egg? all over again. 

Oops!  Forgot to add to my above post...It's strictly my opinion of course, as I'm neither a psychiatrist, nor a psychologist. So take it for what it's worth.  LOL! Checking back later!  Have a good day!

You just reminded of something else.  Many monkeys pointed out Cindy's seeming need to touch Lee a lot during the Memorial service and during interviews.  Now, I'm wondering if that isn't a protective measure (or a cross between control and protection).  Reading up on Asperger's here and it seems to fit what we've seen of Lee (and I mean that completely without malice, slight, or ill intent of any kind): the awkward speech patterns/odd wording (the seemingly endless broken sentences in his depositions, the "doublespeak", most of Memorial speech-it was extremely difficult to follow and understand); the inappropriate emotional reactions (Lee's laughter in discussing the garage decomp smell, the courthouse high-five after alluding the media, the always loyal and deadpan "I have to believe my sister.", the infamous anguished CMA speech, the childish act of dumping out the protester's dog's water dish); the physical awkwardness when trying to destroy the protester's large sign; and the lack of emotional depth and expression between he and his parents (interviews, depositions, the memorial).  It would be interesting to know Lee's social-emotional-physical history.  Of course, Casey/Cindy may be trying to exploit that with the Mitigation Specialist too...with this crew, you never know.

Not saying this is the case, but if Asperberger's is involved, it could explain why there may have been some inappropriate physical sibling contact, as Asperger's patients lack the learned normal social and emotional boundaries.  If this is in fact the case, it would be cruel, as well as devastating to the patient to use a mistake against the patient (key word here- mistake).

Is Asperger's the reason the family initially circled the wagons, moved from Ohio (near family), and closed ranks?  Is that the real reason Casey rarely had anyone over?  Why Cindy rarely had family over? Did Lee ever have friends over?  People who have nothing to hide, hide nothing (nod to Rob in Natalie's thread).  To be continued...

1) George's penmanship is really feminine & his letters are really peculiar.  Almost as a boyfriend, imo.

4) Are the Anthonys teeny boppers in diguise?  There is no "there" there.

George's addressing Casey as "Casey Marie" is very strange...
It seems like (in George's warped mind) he has replaced or sees Casey as Caylee Marie......he does not have a "normal" father/daughter relationship with Casey, and from the looks of it, never did.
George's focus/obsession with Casey's appearance/looks is just too weird.

Hi Monks.....just got back from a fantastic vacation in Sedona and the Grand Canyon...the mountains played havoc with internet and cell service....I will go back and try to get caught up, but if anyone would give me the condensed version of the past week's happenings I would greatly appreciate it! 

That was exactly my concern and I mentioned it yesterday. I didn't think that was proper to have done that, showing addresses and phone numbers of people. You never know what whacko might harass some of these people.

Glad you had a great time. We were given a bunch of letters. On page 95 of the last thread it is broken down what letters are from Cindy, and what letters are from George, and I saw one from Mallory, who is just as crazy as the rest of them. The bulk of all the other letters were basically crackpots who I'm sure were writing the letters from their rooms at the mental hospital.

I've read a few of the letters that Casey received and I find some of them so very sad.  Poor, lonely people somehow trying to become important by Casey writing them.  I can't understand how anyone who is at all familiar with the facts could think she's innocent, but it's incredible that many of these people do. 

There was one 14 year old who told Casey the story of her life.  Her father was in prison for physically abusing her mother, her mother was on drugs and had three other daughters--younger than the writer. They were adopted by family members and this girl was with her grandmother.  I don't understand the need to pour out her soul to Casey Anthony. 

A woman in Lexington KY named Julie Reynolds wrote Casey repeatedly, just in the few letters I read.  She is a sad case too, had a child she put up for adoption.  I don't know what need writing to Casey filled for her, but it seemed to accomplish something in her life.

I guess these people think that if Casey wrote them back, they would somehow be a part of this case or important to it or something.  I really don't know. 

Many of the letters are from crackpots but a few of the ones I read are from really emotionally needy people.  I stopped reading them because it was depressing to look into their lives the way they were pouring out their souls to Casey.  It's like she's the Oracle at Delphi.  To me she's a worthless piece of pond scum, but to these people she's someone really special.

I found Richard Grund's statement interesting and he is one of the few people who really could see through Casey.  I do think he's a little strange with the "Open vision" stuff, but in other ways he's very perceptive.

Hi Brandi---I wonder what significance that hoodie has to this John Hamel. On the other hand, I probably don't want to know.

I was feeling like a voyeur reading those letters so I stopped, but there are some weird people in the world. Some of the photos men sent were scarey.  And that guy who said he's a producer of a radio show in St. Louis sounded like he needs some serious mental health care.  In fact, I would say that most of these people have some mental problems with no one to help them.  We just never know what other people are going through that they would feel the need to write their life stories to a total stranger, and a baby killer to boot. 

Hi Babybear---I have been reading some to my husband as he is sitting next to me on his computer.

I find most of the letters scary. It is scary to me that so many people seem to be mentally unbalanced. So many people have spent time in jails/prisons. So many people are religious nuts (IMO). And so many people have answered George's plea from the Memorial service to send Casey letters.

I can only read for a few hours at a time. I mainly am looking for any letters from her friends and reading for reactions from people after Caylee's remains (yes, George) were discovered.

No idea why a guy would want her jersey. Prolly to sell it, is my first instinct.

I skip letters that are too difficult to read. And she does seem to have some "regulars" who send to her often.

Glad to see you back, I wondered where you were!  On the list of not to be missed letters is one that I posted about on one of the last pages in the last thread......a "fake" postcard from "Lenny"...hysterical, sounds like one of the Monkeys sent it...."Lenny" just getting  back from a trip to the Vatican, wanted to get her a cashmere sweater, but didn't, etc...too funny.

Okay, I know most monkeys are in bed, but there is something that RG brought up that is really bothering me.  How many different people did Casey try to involve with getting her gas???  I hate to even say things like this, but is there a way to asphyxiate someone with gasoline?  Duct tape on the gas can, duct tape on Caylee.....did Casey use gasoline and then try to implicate someone else by trying(and not succeeding) to get gas cans with fingerprints from anyone else near Caylee or the car???  Probably just crazy late night ramblings, but I have always been bothered by the gas cans and what they meant in the big picture

Under the state law, they have to be open for the public. I am not saying they should release them, but under the laws of the state, the state HAS to release all of them.

I was thinking about this message from Cindy to Casey:

“But then the lies and betrayal began. First it seemed harmless, ah, love is blind. A mother will look for the good in her child and give them a chance to change. This mother gave chance after chance for her daughter to change, but instead more lies more betrayal. What does the mother get for giving her daughter all of these chances? A broken heart. The daughter who stole money, lots of money, leaves without warning and does not let her mother now speak to the baby that her mother raised, fed, clothed, sheltered, paid her medical bills, etc. Instead tells her friends that her mother is controlling her life and she needs her space. No money, no future. Where did she go? Who is now watching out for the little angel?”

I am now sure Cindy knew that KC did not have a job, "No money, no future."  Those two statements are not something you would make about a child of yours that had this great job with an awesome future.  It just hit me like a ton of bricks.

Who is now watching out for the little angel?  You would not make this statement about the Mother of the Year.  If you were confident in her abilities, you would not need to question them.  Why does anyone need to take care of Caylee?  Casey should be taking care of Caylee.  This note tells me that Cindy knows that Casey is not able to take care of Caylee.  I have seen this before, but it just now hit me hard.

One of the things that Casey was angriest about was Cindy taking over Caylee, and also controlling Casey's life.  As I am reading these letters, I am thinking how angry KC must have been reading Cindy's letters.  For example, when Cindy tells her KC's cat is sleeping on Cindy's chest and stomach.  Telling KC about all the people that are visiting Cindy.  Telling how other kids are going to college.  Talking about how happy other people are, and how they are going on with their lives.  Even the part where Lee got a turtle, both Cindy and Mallory talk about it, but it must have hurt knowing Cindy knew about it before KC did.  KC was not involved with the purchase and has not seen it.  Mallory is now taking a greater role in Lee's life, which I am sure makes KC jealous, after all, they have their own secret language, and now Mal has heard him.  Cindy is telling KC that KC is being replaced, at least that is how KC sees it.

Cindy does not realize this, she is just not tuned in to what other people think, how they feel, or what hurts them.  I can see from Cindy's letters how overbearing she was, for example wanting to talk to KC's chaplain after KC does.  FTLOG Cindy, is nothing sacred or private to you?  She absolutely has no empathy for her daughter or for others.  

I feel badly that KC had to grow up in this environment where her mother has to one up her all the time.  Cindy makes me feel claustrophobic.  I cannot imagine living with Cindy as my mother.  Poor Caylee had to live with both of those control freaks!  It was an unhealthy environment for her. While I feel bad for KC growing up, hurting Caylee was all her own doing.  It was the ultimate spite of her mother.  

Parents getting into their kids junk has been happening for a long time (although not quite as much as Cindy does, usually).  KC had many options, one being to grow up, get a job, and get out of that house. Then take her child with her.  Many people are single parents with much more to deal with than KC, she was just too lazy to do it.  She found it easier to kill her child, imo.  This is so sad, she was just a baby and didn't have a say in this, even though she had the most to lose, her life.
    
I can see where Cindy is throwing herself under the bus without even realizing it.  You can see KC's reaction to her Mom from the one visit we did see.  Cindy cannot visit KC because KC actually has abreactions to looking at or listening to her.  This is why KC's defense lawyers cannot show what the mitigating circumstances are until she is in the sentencing phase, she is going to throw Cindy under the bus.  I know you don't need mitigating circumstances until then, but there will be something shown at that time that they are hoping the state does not have time to follow up on, that is why it was specifically brought out.

Cindy was the first one holding Caylee coming into this world and she was the last one holding her going out of it.  Cindy made sure that baby was cremated and that is something KC will never forgive her for.  Would you?

Bearly,I have read some of this stuff more times than I can count.Cindy knew Casey was not living up to her responsibilities and just let it continue.Unforgivable.If your child is doing wrong,step up and admit it.
Be a real mom and quit caring what the neighbors think.
Little Caylee was nothing but a possession and was becoming a burden to Casey.I think Caylee suffered plenty in her little life.IMO.
Casey committed the final act of destroying Caylee,but they are all responsible for her death as far as I am concerned.
I have seen a lot of irresponsible parents and families...and the Anthonys are on my top 5 list.I despise them.

Thanks for the insights into the documents released Friday in the Casey Anthony case.

From your comments, I gather there have been a lot of strange letters sent to Anthony from “admirers” — is that a good way to describe her letter writers? – and from her family.

But help me out: How often is Caylee mentioned in those 5,000 pages of documents? And does anyone say anything meaningful about Caylee? 

We wouldn’t care about the Anthonys if not for Caylee, would we?

I agree ... these are some of the most disturbing people I have ever seen ... I'm at a loss to understand them.   When the decision to keep Caylee was made-surely someone in the group could have risen above all of the petty infighting & power grabbing, and just made sure that this defenseless baby was safe at all times.   Nobody seems to have been capable of doing the right thing.

I understand the letters have to be released under the Sunshine Law, but what I don't see is why that is okay to let people's addresses and phone numbers up for the world to see, that I feel is wrong. Somehow I missed Richard Grund's statement and would appreciate it if someone could direct to his statement, thanks. That person who wants to buy that ugly blue number shirt, there are many people out there that would love to buy that, the murder memorabilia and things such as that is a huge business.

Casey tried to get Jesse, Amy, and Tony (Tony did help her get the gas cans from George's shed).....I'd have to go back and read documents to see if she called anyone else. I think Amy just bought her a new gas can, so I'm not sure she had any contact with George's precious gas cans....you know the one with duct tape over the vent hole that George DID NOT put that piece of duct tape on.....LOL
Casey tried to implicate others, but then leaves items from the Anthony house which points directly at her (or an Anthony family member) as the killer.

It almost looks like she had a plan to try and implicate someone else, and it just never did work out.  On the one hand you have George and his cans, on the other she had all these other people she was trying to get near the car with gas cans.....it has to add up to  something....either that or I am wrong, again...LOL.  If I remember right did we not just learn that there were NO PRINTS on the outside of the trunk?  Does not make sense, but I may be misremembering....again!

WOW...I have been reading the letters.......some are certifably NUTZO....others are pathetic.....georgieboy was pizzed in the last one for sure and IMO rightfully so....I  never believed the sexual abuse part or the george/lee is the biodad of Caylee....I always have and still do believe that Kc still isnt SURE who Caylee's biodad was/is. thanks trim, this really made it much easier......as far as georgieboy's letter....I have mixed feelings...he didn't speak out when she accused Lee  of sexual abuse......but then she accused both Lee and him..and he writes her wanting to know why??????  knowing what a liar she is......BTW, I also read RG's statement.....yet he still goes on TV and says he stands by her on national TV.  I think JB needs to be questioned under oath about the letters he was exchanging...........

I think George's last letter explains his absence in court and Cindy's letters just prove how out of touch with reality she really is.

I personally think it's sick that they celebrated Caylee's 4th birthday with family members and cake.

I also don't care that personal info. was released about the crazies that took time to write to Casey. They should have thought about that before the put pen to paper. I especially enjoyed the ones who were becoming agitated that she wasn't writing them back.

The only letter from a friend I saw I was from Annie. I basically skimmed through them because I found most of them to be insane.

I do wonder if she answered any of the letters that Bozo was sneaking into her from her parents.

I believe George was last in court on May 10. The letter was written March 25. Although he did not look happy to be there, he did attend after the letter was written.

Remember, we were trying to identify the shirt he was wearing? We decided it was prolly an Orlando Magic shirt.

ABC’s Chris Cuomo had an eye-opening interview this morning with CNN’s Howard Kurtz on “Reliable Sources.”

Cuomo asked about paying sources, and the topic of Caylee Anthony came up.

Kurtz started by asking about ABC News’ paying Melody Granadillo, the former girlfriend of Joran van der Sloot, for text messages and photos.

“I would like it if there were an agreement among all major media outlets, CNN included, that there will be no licensing fees paid, we will not do it,” Cuomo said.

Kurtz explained that networks pay “tens of thousands” to sources in these deals. Then he added, “ABC paid $200,000 to the family of Caylee Anthony in that toddler’s disappearance and murder. And it just seems to me that everybody talks a good game about, ‘Well, we don’t pay for interviews,’ but they find ways around it. I sense that you’re not that comfortable with it.”

Yet Cuomo made no apologies. “The business is what it is,” he said. “And to be competitive today, when something happens to someone who is considered a guest, there’s almost always a price tag attached.”

So how does that make you feel?

Cuomo said that if ABC had not paid, Granadillo is likely to have made her way on television another way.

But Cuomo added, evidently in reference to the Caylee Anthony case: “Some of the instances that you point out have definitely led to a change at ABC News now.  There is not the kind of pocketbook reporting that was going on before in terms of how to get these bookings. I can tell you that.”

Over 5,000 pages of new documents have been released in the case against Casey Anthony, including thousands of letters written to her.

Casey has been in jail for nearly two years, accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.
Not all 5,000+ pages are letters to Casey, but the release marks the first time they have been made public.

Some of the letters even include “fans” proposing marriage.

While the Orange County Jail does not comment about specific inmates’ popularity, one jail spokesman said when the case first started, she received a fair amount of mail.

The letters came from all over the country -- including Alabama, Kentucky, Virginia, Massachusetts, California and, of course, Florida.

Some writers said they wanted to start a friendship with Casey, and even sent pictures.

A lot of the letters were from so-called supporters who said they knew she was innocent.

Some send her entertaining things, like Sudoku puzzles and pages from In Touch Magazine.

And some even send her a printout of a Wikipedia entry for “insanity defense.”

But is Casey keeping busy reading all the letters? Has she responded to any?
Those questions remain unanswered.

Her parents had previously said letters were helping her through her time in jail.

There is no limit to how many letters an inmate can get, though there are some restrictions on how many can be in her cell.

Friday’s document release also included transcripts, as well as some insight into the cost of some of the experts in the case.

Forensic entomologists don’t come cheap.

At $200 an hour, an insect expert is expected to earn more than $20,000 -- and that’s with some of the work pro bono.

Casey’s trial for the murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, is scheduled to begin in May 2011.

I am still going through the letters in between unpacking, laundry etc.....some of these people are sick, some are pathetic, some are sad and lonely and some relate to g & a in losing a child........I wonder what the family of some of these people must think....especially those who might just now be finding out that their photos and/or childs photos were sent to someone sitting in jail charged with 1st degree murder.......and now those pictures and names and addresses are public for anyone to see.....anyone including pedophiles............I'd be scared to death!!

Yes, no prints on the outside of the trunk. If Casey was trying to plant the fingerprints of others on the trunk, she can thank her mom, car cleaner extraordinaire, for blowing that plan ! Just one more reason that Casey has turned her anger toward Cindy. Baez knows Casey's anger is seething slightly beneath the surface and cannot allow family visits for this reason. For once, he may have made a good decision .

Evening, all!  Just catching up here and wanted to throw out a few things.  In George's #9 letter here http://www.wftv.com/pdf/24043180/detail.html (http://www.wftv.com/pdf/24043180/detail.html), his word choices are very telling.  He says:

"Why, why also destroy Lee?"
"Why, why also destroy Mom?"
"Why, why also destroy me, your family?"
"Why, why also destroy Caylee Marie?"

Also means in addition to something.  IMO, George has already mentally acknowledged the fact that Casey has destroyed her own life (contrary to Cindy's concerted claims that Casey will be freed).  He's verbalizing it here though.  Of course the order of her victims is important here too.  Notice Lee is first.  To me this speaks to the level of George's incredulous disbelief...that Casey is throwing her confidante, protector, aide & abettor against the parents, most loyal ally to the wolves is clearly beyond George's comprehension.  It's interesting that George s angriest about her betrayal of Lee (the order says so).  It is even more interesting that Cindy follows next as she clearly is the person Casey has fought with the most (per Lee, George, Jesse, etc.).  The interesting part is that for all of George's "Hello, ______(Gorgeous, Beautiful, Princess)" comments, his begging to see her, his documented longing need to talk to her/hug her, and his "I love you no matter what."...even he recognizes his standing in the family dynamics.  Sadly, Caylee is last, where she's always been, IMO.  It's as if in the struggle for control in that household and the fight over Caylee, Caylee the person was always an afterthought.  It concerns me somewhat that Caylee follows the destroy George , "your family" remark.   How could Casey possibly destroy Caylee more than she's already done so???  That's the part that concerns me.  Such an odd choice of words, used in reference to a deceased person.

I think George's grammar is a little off on the next part:

"After all I have tried, sacrificed, continued to have you, my Daughter, why???"
"Continually coming to court, continually waiting to see you, why???"

I read that as "After all, I have tried, sacrificed, continued to have you [as] my Daughter, why???".  George is still hung up on seeing Casey.  Why?  Why does George need to see Casey so badly?  There's got to be a reason.  What is George afraid of?  What are the Anthonys afraid of? Remember the July-August 2008 jail visitation with Casey where she said to Cindy, "Don't worry Mom, I didn't tell them anything."?  What would make George continue "to have" Casey as his daughter, even as he acknowledges it was done out of obligation rather than unconditional love?  Has Casey basically been blackmailing George?  That "continued to have you my Daughter" implies it was against his will, maybe his better judgement.  It's as if he's done everything she demanded in exchange for keeping his secret (whatever that might be) or the family secret(s-I'm 100% positive it's more than 1).  It appears he's telling her that the family has cooperated and done every thing she's asked/demanded-what more could she want-and she's still betrayed them.  Most telling about this is that the Anthonys have been feeding their 300 lb gorilla (so to speak) and George is flabbergasted that it bit their arm off, after all they've done for it.  Finally, George is truly seeing exactly what kind of person Casey is, the full extent of her narcissistic, spiteful, vindictive self.  He is surely seeing what Caylee did, those final moments. 
The way I see it, George has two choices here:  allow Casey to destroy them completely in court or contact Yuri Mellich and come clean about everything he knows/what they've all done.  If I were George, as painful as it might be, I'd choose option #2.  At least that way, he can no longer be controlled by Casey pulling the strings and he'll have some pieces of life to pick up when all is said and done.  Their biggest mistake was ever giving in to Casey's demands.  Guaranteed, she has something on each family member.  They've been desperate to meet with her because she's no longer under their control, she's a loose cannon, and she's fully loaded with, ammunition.  She will do whatever is necessary to save herself, period.  The A's are just more collateral damage.  It's interesting that the A's are now reaping exactly what they've sown...their willingness to destroy anyone to save Casey is now being used against them.  Casey's learned that lesson well.  George's best bet is to come clean, to man up and cut those puppet strings.

As I was reading the letters, I noticed so many people mentioning letters they wrote had been returned because they were not addressed correctly. Also, many people asked what they could send her.

I must say, I wondered as well, after reading so many letters.

The above is Orange County Jail Mail Rules. It states that ALL mail is opened and checked for contraband. The rules are listed on the Orange County website, and anyone who wrote to her could have looked them up. Then they would know that their letters were opened prior to Casey receiving them. And the Florida Sunshine laws are rather famous at this point in time as well.

It is clear that Casey is the one calling the shots and doesn't want to see her parents.  This is her 'show' and she doesn't want them ruining it.

I think they (her defense and she) are using her family's craziness to their advantage.

Orlando, FL - The bulk of the latest discovery released in Casey Anthony’s case offers a peek inside the minds of folks across America who are following her story. More than 5,000 pages were released by the State Attorney’s Office last Friday, much of which is correspondence to Anthony since her incarceration in the fall of 2008. The letters include declarations of love from many admirers, marriage proposals, excoriation of opinion-driven shows that report details as mundane as her commissary purchases and daily jailhouse menu, advice from inmates in prisons outside Florida, and lots of prayers. Not all, though, are positive. Some angry writers tell her they hope she gets the death penalty; others tell her it’s time to “fess up” and tell all.

Anthony’s parents have written often. Their heartfelt letters reveal their torment at not being able to visit Anthony in jail. While visits are permitted, they are videotaped and, in time, the tapes are released to the public. It is Anthony’s choice to cease public scrutiny of these semi-private moments; thus, she does not accept visitors, even her parents. They long for a few seconds of eye contact at court hearings and, in one letter, praise defense attorney Andrea Lyon for making sure Anthony turned to face them.

In February 2009, George Anthony proudly describes the tattoos he and Cindy recently got in memory of Caylee.  His tattoo covers his heart—it’s an image of Caylee looking up into rays of sunshine and blowing a kiss; Cindy’s is a butterfly. In November 2009, George writes about his own despondency—perhaps foreshadowing his suicide attempt nearly three months later.  “I just told your mom I hate this life. …  I just don’t know what to say, how to act anymore.  I have no control of anything.”

Cindy Anthony describes seeking “refuge” in the bedrooms of her daughter and granddaughter. In time, though, she says it became too painful to do so. Cindy says she talks to both of them everyday. In her heart, Caylee is still with them and Cindy remains hopeful that Casey will one day be home.

Besides the letters, the discovery includes transcripts of police interviews with potential witnesses and a few invoices from forensic experts hired by the state. Two expert entomologists will face off at the trial regarding their interpretation of the insect activity in the trunk of Anthony’s abandoned Pontiac Sunfire and around the skeletal remains of Caylee. As of last November, the state’s expert, Neal Haskell, has billed the State of Florida $25,551.25 for 101.5 hours of pre-trial work at $200 per hour. He writes in the invoice: “In more than 800 cases over a 25 year period this case generated the highest number of samples I have ever had to analyze.” That’s a hint of what’s to come at a trial laden with forensic evidence.

I agree he knows what she did.  One other thing, I don't ever recall reading this, but were the Anthonys religious before this happened, or did they find religion after Caylee's death?

I don't think they were religious but I do think they attended on occasion. They seem to have become quite religous after the fact.

Bearly-thank you!  I stand corrected.  George's letter does say "...continued to love you".

Thinking this morning that the worst accusation a person could make against a family member is molestation.  I think Casey has threatened Cindy with going public with that before when she's been angry (hence the July-Aug. jail convo "Don't worry, Mom. I didn't tell them anything.).  I'm guessing that Cindy starring in the Cindy-show with that farce of a memorial (her producing it, her national acting and singing debut) and then blatantly overriding Casey by cremating Caylee pushed Casey over the edge of Family Loyalty.  All bets are off and so are the gloves.  Casey came out swinging with the jail letters (methodically planned, IMO).  If I were Cindy, George, and Lee, I'd shut up and seriously lawyer up.  It's going to get ugly as this family implodes.

The thought that went through my mind this morning is Casey has put Cindy at an impasse.  IMO, the molestation allegations are Casey's ultimate loyalty litmus test for Cindy.  Who will Cindy choose?  Basically, to prove her love and loyalty, Cindy will need to throw George and maybe even Lee under the bus.  If Cindy did, in fact, help with the decomp/home/car cleanup and destroying/hiding evidence, Casey will use it against her to save herself.  Therein, lies the danger to Cindy. Casey has basically put them on notice.

Cindy (judging from her letters referencing Jeanine-the Mitigation Specialist) was under the impression that Jeanine was building a history to help get Casey off or get a reduced sentence.  It appears that Cindy/George were advised to cooperate with Jeanine under the guise assisting Casey's defense to free Casey.  I'm not convinced that Cindy & George are willing to sacrifice themselves for Casey though.  I'm wondering if that was one of the 2 questions George was asked.  Logic tells me the 2 questions were:  "George, did you molest Casey?" and "Did Lee molest Casey?".  Or #2 may have been "George, did you molest Caylee?' . I am not saying George did either, so no rumor-mongering please.  I am saying that I wouldn't put it past Casey to accuse that either (or threaten to accuse to keep George towing the line).  In the past, Cindy & George have sacrificed their character, reputations,finances, and privacy for Casey.  Not sure if Casey expects them go along with the I-was-so-abused-I-did-it-to-save-Caylee defense and take the fall to save her life or if Casey's using this as a divide and conquer tactic to cut George out (as he is the most damaging= Grand Jury testimony).  George is the weakest link.  While he is willing to lie some, aid and abet some, he has some limits (the LE interview where he got physically sick, the Gonzales depos where he became irrational when he mistakenly thought they were asking him to describe the last time he saw Caylee).  George is not as "seasoned" of a liar as Cindy or Casey and tends to become more emotional (which is a good thing for him-there's hope yet).  Either way, Cindy's at an impasse.  The defense is clearly building a victim strategy and using Cindy & George's own words (interviews and letters) against them.  Just because Lee's been flying under the radar doesn't mean he hasn't been cooperating with the defense also (for his sake, I hope not).  Casey upped the ante with her accusations, knowing full well she'd already told certain friends about the alleged abuse, her ace in the hole.  It's easy to see why George is reeling.  While Cindy did say in the interview that the accusations hurt George, she is still in court and he is not.  Casey is succeeding in her divide and conquer strategy.  Is it the fight that Cindy's so desperate to hide?  Or is it the power struggle that draws Cindy to court?  Yet another example of Cindy forcing herself on Casey?  Sort of a "I will be here to say I love you whether you want me to or not...because I want to." mentality.  It's the hook that snags Cindy.  She really needs to stay home and out of the media, seriously lawyer up, and cut ties to Casey.  Otherwise, Casey will destroy them the same way she destroyed Caylee.  The Anthonys need to just come clean on the whole thing, for Caylee's sake #1 and theirs.  This heat they're feeling and the pressure they're under from Casey, may backfire on her and instead call their bluff and force their hand.  If they ever want to be free, they need to just their monster off at the knees.  All my own opinion.

I agree with you here as well as on the abuse allegations and letter GA wrote. An allegation of sexual abuse would tarnish Caylee's image and render her damaged goods in GA's mind IMO. Those people are all about image, no love, no care, just IMAGE.

Good morning, Monkeys.  Here's my opinion on whether or not the Anthonys were religious before Caylee was murdered by her mother.  I think the Anthonys went to church on occasion.  However, IMO, going to church does not make one religious.  The way Cindy behaved toward her family is the antithesis of religious.  She ordered them around, held discretions over their heads, and apparently even went so far as to try to throttle Casey on that last night.  She enabled Casey and George in their aberrant lifestyles.  George is apparently a womanizer, a gambling addict, and an all-round disgusting person.  Casey has no morals at all.

Many people profess to be religious, to "Love God" to "Love Jesus" when they have no concept of the meaning of a Christian life.  Certainly Casey's stealing from everyone, even her elderly grandparents and friends, and Cindy saying "Well, it was just once," covering for her criminal behaviour, is not what a Christian is directed to do.  While we must help each other, the bible, IMO, doesn mean to help each other in criminal activity.

Much of the time, in fact most of the time, when a person is incarcerated for a serious crime, i.e. murder, they become  "Religious."  There was a case near where I live where a group of Goths kidnapped a Jehovah's Witness family who were passing out literature--a father, a mother, and two very small children.  They took them to a secluded place and shot them and ran over them with the kidnapped family's van.  The little boy, around two at the time, lived, but is paralysed for life.  They were caught near the Texas border, brought back to the small town where they would be tried and LE had some trouble preventing their lynching when they were brought in. In court, the murderers, the ringleader of which was a young woman, carried bibles and claimed to have "Found God." It didn't work.  They pled guilty and were sentenced to life, IMO a plea deal.  My state does have the death penalty. 

The Anthonys are IMO using Christianity to try to impress others with their goodness.  Casey, too, thinks it might work.  Evil people do it all the time.  Only God, however, can see into their hearts, but IMO they are phoney-boloneys.

 

I do not think Cindy is religious even now.  It is just another way for her to be in control.  She now says God wants this and God wants that.  How does she know what God wants?  I think it is a very dangerous thing when we start speaking for God.

I have only seen agreement with you here on the posts where Casey tells Cindy not to worry, she hasn't told them anything.  So you agree with all of the posts I have read.

I have always thought she was telling Cindy that she did not confess, and don't worry, I am not that stupid, you don't have to control everything I do.  I can think for myself.

It burns my butt when people pretend to be something they are not, and it gives a bad name to those who really are.  The same goes for those who fake any kind of crime...being kidnapped, raped, and molested come to mind.  It hurts the people who are truly victims and puts doubt in the minds of those who need to be focused in finding the victim.

Reading the thoughts from Cindy's head is truly frightening.  I cannot imagine what it was like to grow up in that household under her control.  Very scary indeed, it makes my hair stand up.

Reading some of the post of her followers makes me shake my head.  Some of those letter writers are one flake short of an avalanche.  That anyone would send pictures of themselves, and especially their children, or get their children involved in any way makes me wonder what in the world they were thinking. 

Write to a child who may have cancer or to a child or an adult who are in a third world country.  Donate to a worthy cause, there are many of them, not to someone's extras.  Casey is given three meals a day, donate the money to a child who may get three meals in a month. 

I can hardly stand it.

You know Bearly I agree with you whole heartedly on this one..Every time I'd see someone sending her money I would just fume up!!  I mean what does she REALLY need it for?  She had her initial check and purchased her clothing and while I do see a monthly need for feminine hygiene it certainly doesn't cost in excess of 25.00  I wondered if these people had money to do away with like that then they should send it to someone who really needs it!!  She gets food, shelter even a library of books all for free.  She doesn't need anything else to have a substantial life but others out there 25 dollars buys them food for family, heating/cooling for the elderly and doctor bills..on and on..I'm sorry but Bearly you really did hit it on the head of all I read this Ticked me off the most..thanks for saying it FIRST!

I have enjoyed reading all of your post. So much insight. I have all kinds of thoughts running around in my head, but never seem to be able to put them down in a post. Thanks for doing some of it for me. I have been reading since Friday in the Discovery and still have not finished. But what I have read really puts alot in perspective. The Anthony house ( notice I didn't call it a home) must have been hell to live in. I am surprised Casey and Lee aren't any more insane than they are. Can you imagine the tension in that house. It just blows my mind how some families live. I grew up in a home full of love and for years I
didn't realize that not everyone did. I look back on my childhood and Thank God for the life I had. I had two loving parents who taught us right from wrong. We were hugged and told that we were loved everyday. I am almost 60 and I never hang up the phone with a loved one without telling them I love them.

I just don't understand how a mother could be so cruel as to always try to one up their kids. That is not a mother in my book. My heart breaks for what lil Caylee had to endure in her short little life. God Bless her!

She spends more on junk than I do on groceries for a whole month. Just shameful.

Hey, Monkeys!  I've missed seeing you the last day and a half!  (My internet was down.  Talk about some Scared Withdrawal!)  I've had some time to think about the A's, God help me.  A couple of points...
About Lee.  I really do think he has Asperger's Syndrome which would explain a lot of things.  I have personal experience of what it's like to live with this disorder.  One of my twenty year old twin boys was diagnosed with this when he was eleven. He is very high functioning, (similar to Lee, I think,) but with all the annoying characteristics of this autistic spectrum disorder.  We always knew he was a little different, slower than his twin, developmentally delayed, physically clumsy.  Having a child the same age to compare milestones with was painful, yet was a helpful tool when it came down to working out a plan for his therapeutic treatment.  One of the pitfalls was that because he was so obviously disabled, we missed his twin's ADHD.  (I still feel so guilty--we thought he was okay, a little hyper, maybe, but compared to Max...anyone would be.  It finally worked out, though, and he's doing well.)  I don't believe that Lee had an allergic reaction to his acne medication...I think he finally was diagnosed, (my Max had some depression at adolescence, partially because he realized how "different" he was,) and has learned to cope.  Lee's inappropriate reactions, (his passionate CMA declaration at the memorial,) the childish "Star Wars" obsession, (mine still likes Disney movies,) his responsible job, (Max works and is never late, once he gets an idea in his head, it remains fixed and constant,) his facial expression, all seem to dovetail with this disorder.  My personal opinion is that the A's were embarrassed by him, and Casey, seemingly "normal", was deemed  "the golden child."  I think Cindy in particular pretended that nothing was wrong.  You never hear stories of George playing ball with him, or sharing any kind of faher/son experience.  I think neither parents spent little quality time with him.  I  really don't think that Casey was abused by either he or George, but I could be wrong.
On the George subject.  I have thought about his bizarre relationship with Casey.  (Hi, beautiful, gorgeous, etc.)  I think he is relatively clueless emotionally.  I get the impression that he thinks he should consider her his little princess, etc, but he just isn't felling it, so he overcompensates with the only language he knows.  The constant reference to hugs and smiles, while uncomfortable to read, could be how he THINKS a loving father would react.  (Obviously wrong, of course.) 
The A's respond so differently from most people that it is hard to get a read on them. Anytime I start to feel pity, I have to remember Caylee, the only innocent among them.  Their anger, paranoia, narcissism, lies, have all contributed to the death of that precious little girl.

Watching his deposition gave a little more insight,for me watching his expressions and getting to hear him talk without all the outside distractions.

The hundreds of letters released by prosecutors in the Casey Anthony investigation triggered reaction on Monday.

Some of the most heart-wrenching letters came from Anthony's parents, but there wasn't a single letter from her brother, Lee Anthony.

In a now infamous high-five, Lee and Casey Anthony once celebrated getting her through a gauntlet of reporters, but Lee Anthony no longer shows up at his sister's court hearings and there were no letters from him.

"I think, from the beginning of the case, Lee has been a little bit more level-headed about the possibility of Casey's involvement," attorney Richard Hornsby said.

In a March 25 letter to his daughter, George Anthony lashed out at allegations he and his son may have sexually abused Casey Anthony when she was a child.
That is an issue Hornsby said could become relevant as a mitigating factor to keep Casey Anthony from the death penalty if she's convicted of murder.

"I don't think Lee would hesitate to get on the stand and say that's a complete lie, (and) it never happened," Hornsby said.

Even as Lee Anthony has distance himself, her parents letters reflect desperation to see their daughter in jail. It begs the question of whether Casey Anthony's defense team is calling the shots or Casey Anthony herself who does not want her to see them.

"George Anthony hit the nail on the head. She is, at the end of the day, the boss whether she knows it or not. The one who calls the shots is Casey Anthony," Hornsby said.

WESH-Ch. 2 tonight looked into whether Casey Anthony has been shut off from the outside world at the Orange County Jail.

Of course, many viewers may not care, but the report contained an interesting bit of news.

“The only visit she’s had in more than three weeks is from a mitigation specialist who works for the defense,” WESH’s Bob Kealing reported. “Basically, it’s her job to go in, interview Casey repeatedly, construct a life story to where if she is convicted, it will help the defense argue for life instead of death.”

Will there be an Anthony family reunion at the jail?

Kealing reported that George Anthony had tried to visit his daughter in December, but was talked out of it by her defense team. Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

Attorney Richard Hornsby, who offers legal analysis for WESH, questioned keeping the family away. “If Casey doesn’t want to see her parents, well, then it’s the right move for her,” Hornsby said.  ”But I just can’t imagine that that’s what she really wants.”

Ah, what Casey wants — that will keep people speculating.

Babybear-Great post!  I am so with you on people who think they can hide behind religion.  There's a huge difference between religion and relationship.  Even the devil knows there's a God.   :neutral: I like that verse where Jesus says you can tell a tree by it's fruit.  Good trees bear good fruit, bad trees bear bad fruit.  With that in mind, look at the fruit of their lives.  Are their actions and attitudes matching their words?  Talk is cheap, walking it takes effort, some falling, some apologizing, and some trying again.  I should know because I'm an expert at the falling down and apologizing thing. LOL!  If people are truly sorry, they admit what they've done, take responsibility for it, and accept the punishment they know they deserve.  Guess we'll see where that leaves the Anthonys.

Bearly- You may be onto something there!  Do you think it was because Cindy was more worried for Casey or for herself/George/Lee?  Also, I hear from Trimm, you have some good Asperger's info.

Monkalicious- Thanks for sharing here! You had an excellent point that we haven't really seen or heard of any father-son moments.  That might be because George mostly worked evenings and nights, but IDK.  One of my parents worked graveyard for awhile, but still made time to do things with us.  I do think you're right about the "golden child" idea though.  Remember when Lee put out that ad for the Personal Assistant and we all laughed because it basically called for someone to live and breathe at their beck and call with no salary.  It was ludicrous!  Thinking about it now though, in terms of Asperger's, he would have had no idea how inappropriate those kind of demands on someone were.  Just another reason, I wonder about Lee.  What I found really odd was that Cindy & George didn't step in to "edit" that ad.  Instead they just let him post it anyway. One would think they had to have known that no one was going to put their life on hold for Lee, George, Cindy, or Casey.  Seriously!

ITA with your perception of George and Casey's relationship too.  I think he was trying to play the part, say all the right things (maybe as he's been doing for years).  I'm thinking he was trying really hard not to anger her because she likely has something on him.  I keep going back to him throwing up in the LE interview talking about the smell and the Gonzales depos when he nearly came out of his seat when he mistakenly thought they were asking about the last time he saw Caylee.  His reaction was barely controlled rage, IMO.  Had he honestly just seen Casey leaving with Caylee and told them goodbye, he'd have no trouble recounting that.  It was what I think he really saw that rattled him and that he was unwilling to recall or describe.  IMO, George was coerced into cleaning that car and maybe other things.  George's best bet is to tell LE everything he knows now because it's only going to snowball from here.  I hope he will get angry enough/scared enough/brave enough to stop the insanity their lives have been for quite awhile.  Time to scoot!  Take care everyone!

I have been super busy and haven't been online much.  I missed the release Friday and have been busy trying to catch up.  I just had to comment on the last letter from georgie.  I think the two questions he was asked were :
1.  Did you molest/rape/fondle ... casey
2.  Did you molest/rape/fondle ... Caylee.

That's what he was referring to when he said why,why, why destroy Caylee. (her memory) (IMO)
My first thought was that they asked him if he was Caylee's father, but I figure they already know that answer from DNA.

Was reading the comments on HOF regarding the house foreclosure.  Wasn't it Rick who stated in his depo that G&C assumed the mortgage on their current house in FL. after the foreclosure of their house in OH?  Thus, might the previous owners of the FL house still have an invested interest, which could also affect their credit?  Also, it seems like somewhere it was stated that Cindy had gotten a 2nd mortgage to help pay off George's debt...besides cashing in her 401K.  I may be confusing things.  It's just overwhelming for me to keep track of this family's irresponsibility, which they seem to consider normal.

Hi all ! Been away but tried to keep up when I could get internet.  Thanks to everyone for all the updates and comments.

The letters that I've been able to read from C & G are depressing. The groveling and begging is torture, the level of dysfunction is off the charts. Caylee is dead, every scintilla of evidence points at their "beautiful boss" and yet they blindly manufacture alternate villains, attempt to appeal to her ego for a mere look in their direction. It's bewildering that they continue to have a full blown birthday party for their murdered grand baby and wrap the dead pet in one of her towels. Don't they have any recollection of the way Caylee's remains were recovered?
People can say they're in denial but IMO they flat out don't want the truth. The gerbil maze that they lived all their lives still holds true today. Cindy remains the only one able to decide which lie is useful, who needs punishment and how their lousy life will be rewritten to present their pimple-pocked-princess as the mother who the darling Cays still loves from heaven or Manhatten.  Ugh, they literally make me sick.

IMO, the "off the chart" level of dysfunction, is just too far out there for it to have begun after Caylee's death. That family has been one sick puppy for a long, long time. Cindy is at the core of it and she passed it along in spades to her daughter.

Babybear and ISpy, I agree with every word.  I also like the story of the tree which Jesus cursed.  It should have been producing, but it wasn't -- just full of leaves and no fruit.  There are times I find great solace in knowing God's justice will be perfect!

Hey girl!    When all this horrid thing began, Cindy was rolling out the big guns for kc, putting out the dragnet for her, writing accusatory posts about kc, threatening legal stuff against her, screaming matches at home, ultimatums etc.  But when the obvious became public news, Cindy did a Tazmanian Devil spin and their world was presented as idyllic. Nothing but beautiful rosy days full of love, a family that the entire universe should envy.  Cindy has tried to orchestrate things to vindicate their image, not make sense of Caylee's death, not figure out what happened, not move on in a positive way.  Clearly they have not moved on, their entire focus is trying to massage kc's ego so that the facade of perfection can be waved as a flag.

Her court appearances are pretty low key and mundane so far, what kind of freak will she be when the things being talked about aren't motions and legal mumbo jumbo. She is a killer who nobody is brave enough to demand cohesive answers from because IF she ever is allowed to talk freely to anyone whose visit isn't confidential............there would be no damage control specialist alive that could take that on. The earlier letters to her inmate friend are very revealing too. Hi Golden...you're right.  If Cindy assumed the mortgage and she doesn't pay, the previous owners are responsible for the house.  I know because this happened to my sister.  Back in the 70's when everyone was getting laid off work, they had to get rid of their house because they couldn't make the payments.  They found someone to assume their mortgage.  About 15 years ago my sister got a letter in the mail from a mortgage company saying the owners hadn't paid their mortgage and was coming after my sister.  She was kinda of excited because the that house was in great condition and the owners had put in a pool in the backyard.  However, it turned out that the bank made a mistake and everything was okay.  So yeah, I would think if Cindy assume a mortgage and didn't pay it, the house belongs to the original people.  Wouldn't it be like the A's do to that to someone else?  Geez.

Lyon has been successful in getting prosecutors to reveal their list of five aggravating factors they may use to pursue capitol punishment.

Anthony has successfully petitioned to the court to be declared indigent, meaning her defense is paid by taxpayers. However, the Justice Administrative Commission does not pay for travel for privately retained, out-of-state attorneys like Lyon, who is from Chicago.

Lyon’s participation started to come into question earlier this year with the addition of well-known Orlando criminal defense attorney J. Cheney Mason. He, too, was qualified to try death penalty cases.

According to Lyon’s website, she has defended more than 30 potential capital cases.

Chicago attorney Andrea Lyon, who joined the Casey Anthony defense team to fight prosecutors’ desire to seek the death penalty for the 24-year-old Orlando woman, is no longer on the team.

Lead Anthony attorney Jose Baez confirmed today that Lyon has left the defense because of financial issues. He filed paperwork with the Orange County Clerk of Court’s office late today reflecting Lyon’s departure.

“We’re sad to see her leave, but we completely understand that it’s a fiscal reason,” Baez said.

He said Lyon will remain “fully accessible to us if we need her at any time.”

Casey Anthony's death penalty expert attorney Dr. Andrea Lyon has left the defense team, according to Orlandosentiel.com.  Dr.  Lyon, a professor at DePaul University in Chicago, joined the defense team last year.
According to the article, defense attorney Jose Baez cited " a fiscal problem" as the reason for Dr. Lyon's departure.

During her time with the defense, Dr. Lyon authored complex legal challenges to Florida's use of the death penalty.

Baez said there will be no visible changes to the defense team, the article said.

Why Sheriff Demings did what he did with Edwin

     When Sheriff Jerry Demings asked State Attorney Lawson Lamar to drop the charges against Edwin McFarlane, he cited an internal investigation into a leak by a department officer, identified in a nice scoop by WKMG as Maj. Frank Fabrizio.

      It is very convenient. Demings gets to be rid of this fiasco, while at the same time he can cling to the claim his department’s handling of Edwin’s arrest was proper. It was a good bust. But we have to toss it because Fabrizo leaked information to a blog poster.

       If leaks were cause to drop charges, Casey Anthony would be sucking on a beer bong right now in some trailer park.

Casey Anthony: She had one visitor in last 3 weeks, WESH reports

 WESH-Ch. 2 tonight looked into whether Casey Anthony has been shut off from the outside world at the Orange County Jail.

Of course, many viewers may not care, but the report contained an interesting bit of news.

“The only visit she’s had in more than three weeks is from a mitigation specialist who works for the defense,” WESH’s Bob Kealing reported. “Basically, it’s her job to go in, interview Casey repeatedly, construct a life story to where if she is convicted, it will help the defense argue for life instead of death.”

Will there be an Anthony family reunion at the jail?

Kealing reported that George Anthony had tried to visit his daughter in December, but was talked out of it by her defense team. Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

Attorney Richard Hornsby, who offers legal analysis for WESH, questioned keeping the family away. “If Casey doesn’t want to see her parents, well, then it’s the right move for her,” Hornsby said.  ”But I just can’t imagine that that’s what she really wants.”

Ah, what Casey wants — that will keep people speculating.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- One of Casey Anthony's lawyers, Andrea Lyon, has left the defense team, lead defense counsel Jose Baez confirmed to Local 6.

Lyon, who has handled more than 100 murder cases and teaches law at DePaul University, joined the team last year. At the time, Anthony did not have a qualified death-penalty attorney who met the state's standards representing her.

Local veteran attorney Cheney Mason, who is also death-penalty qualified, joined the defense team after Lyon, making her departure less of a blow to Baez's team.

Baez told Local 6 Lyon would not have stepped down if Mason wasn't already on the team and cited the costs Lyon incurred to travel to Florida as a big reason for her decision to leave.

Baez said Lyon will still serve as a resource to the defense team and Anthony, even though she won't be at their side in court.

Both Anthony and the defense gave Lyon's departure their blessing, according to Baez.

What do Tom Hanks and Casey Anthony have in common?

They have both starred in something called “The Money Pit.”

WFTV-Ch. 9, via its 10 p.m. news on sister station WRDQ-Ch. 27, explained that defense attorney Andrea Lyon “wants out because the case is a money pit,” anchor Vanessa Welch said tonight.

WFTV explained that defense attorney Jose Baez will continue to consult with Chicago attorney Lyon but that she was leaving the case for financial reasons. Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said he wasn’t surprised Lyon had departed because the money has been exhausted. Sheaffer added that Orlando defense attorney Cheney Mason can take over Lyon’s duties and said if Lyon were a true believer she would still be with the case.

Yet Baez described Lyon as “a wonderful lawyer” who believes in Anthony’s case and who spent her own money on the case, WFTV’s Kenneth Moton reported.

WESH-Ch. 2 legal analyst Richard Hornsby said Lyon’s departure was a huge blow. “The defense as a whole is definitely going to take a step back without her resources and knowledge,” he said.

Hornsby didn’t buy Baez’s cost explanations for Lyon’s departure. “She wouldn’t have had to have a lot of costs to incur,” he said. “I think the cost excuse is really a cover for something a lot bigger with Andrea Lyon’s belief in the defense team.”

Baez told WESH that simply wasn’t true and that’s Lyon’s departure wouldn’t affect the defense.  (The report aired on the 10 p.m. news on sister station WKCF-Ch. 18.)

Havent been in for a bit nor read here as its been busy for me but have been following the case...ding dong the witch is gone!    Not shocking at all, Lyon only took this case for the public platform  & to spread her word lashing that the DP should be abolished, whateva buh-bye.  Lyon gave up on this case when she lost every motion she filed to date (worthy of note not being as impressive as she would have one believe as we've witnessed).   She's getting out of dodge because this defendant will not give her the case out of her practicing district to advance her agenda, it is just that simple.    If Bozo thinks for one hot sec the public by and large believes she left for fiscal reasons, he is spending too much time partying in Miami buried in a keg.  If Lyon felt strongly about the merits of this case, she would get the funding & spend it gladly...seriously, I cant get over how some people actually believe the majority of the public will buy that happy horsesnit.

Mason & her were bound to clash, but that may not be the half of it.  Whether she believes in Casey or not is also irrelevant as she has defended the worse of the worse knowing of their guilt but this defendant & her family makes it totally impossible to sell a fabricated story evidenced by George's letter after Casey's writings to her inmate friend.   Interesting, the defense is spending an enormous amount of man hours painting a pathetic tale of Casey's life & here her own father confronts her as to why she is destroying her family, including her brother.   Nothing Casey claims can be taken as the truth after all her lies, cover ups & bad deeds leading up to Caylee's murder, or after.   IMHO, couple that with Cindy lying now about her daughter's character & actions as opposed to what she said about her being a liar, thief & sociopath to others prior to July 15th...that's all the jury will have to see & hear, not soon enough.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A source close to the Casey Anthony investigation tells WESH 2 News that death penalty defense attorney Andrea Lyon is leaving Anthony’s defense team. The source said Lyon made her intentions known more than a week ago.

Casey Anthony's lead attorney, Jose Baez, said travel expenses from Chicago to Orlando are taking their toll on Lyon.
Lyon has only been a part of the defense team for a little over a year. She filed paperwork in June of 2009 asking for permission to enter the case.

Lyon originally said she said she would prove the Anthony case does not qualify for the death penalty because the state did not have sufficient evidence.
In recent weeks, Judge Belvin Perry has struck down numerous motions by the defense hoping to take the death penalty off the table.

Lyon has been successful in getting prosecutors to reveal their list of five aggravating factors they may use to pursue capitol punishment.

Anthony has successfully petitioned to the court to be declared indigent, meaning her defense is paid by taxpayers. However, the Justice Administrative Commission does not pay for travel for privately retained, out-of-state attorneys like Lyon, who is from Chicago.

Lyon’s participation started to come into question earlier this year with the addition of well-known Orlando criminal defense attorney J. Cheney Mason. He, too, was qualified to try death penalty cases.

According to Lyon’s website, she has defended more than 30 potential capital cases.

Baez said believes losing Lyon will not impact Casey's case. He said the team will continue to fight the death penalty.

Casey Anthony will be back in court on July 15.

One of Casey Anthony’s attorneys is quitting the case.

Andrea Lyon is the second lawyer to depart from the case in less than six months.

In court papers, Lyon said she had "no choice" but to withdraw from the case.

“It’s strictly a fiscal issue,” said Jose Baez, Anthony’s lead attorney.

Baez heaped praise on Lyon, saying she's done a phenomenal job for the defense.

“We're all sad to see her step down but she'll remain and consult with us,” Baez said. “But it’ll be in the background and not in the forefront.”

It came down to money for Lyon.

She was paid $22,500 in the 13 months she worked as one of Anthony's lawyers.

But in court papers, Lyon revealed the money did not cover one-third of what she spent in just 10 months working for the defense.

“Everyone on the team is making financial sacrifices,” Baez said. “Everyone believes in Casey’s cause for justice and we're all fighting for her.”
The death blow to Lyon's representation came when Judge Belvin Perry denied a request for taxpayers to foot the bill for her travel expenses.

She works full-time as a law professor at DePaul University in Chicago.

Lyon was also a highly visible member of Anthony's inner circle.

She made multiple national TV appearances on Anthony's behalf, and even compared the case to the Salem Witch Trials.   

“I don't see much change in perspective. Maybe a small change in style,” Baez said.

The case will continue at full speed ahead. The trial is schedule to being May 9, 2011.

Baez said lawyer Cheney Mason will take over the death penalty component of the case.

Good morning, monkeys!  Wowzers!  The Lyon is gone.  I guess she really wasn't a "True Believer" in Casey's innocence!  (Not that anyone ever really thought that!)  I wonder if this will have any effect on the date of the trial?  The whole reason for pushing back the date was to accomodate her going to her daughter's graduation.  I'd love, love, love to see it moved up a bit. 

Maybe he is one of those people who can ignore the 500 pound gorilla in the room.

Didn't she also donate $70,000 to her defense?  Then, it would not appear that money is the true issue here.

It is interesting that what Baez seems to allude to is that with Mason and Lyon in the room, one of them had to go.  I can see that.  Their styles are completely different.  Add Baez and you have a recipe for disaster, imo.

How can you defend a client that is so obviously lying to you?  If Baez had to ask George if the allogations are true, Baez does not believe her either.

Another thing with Casey lying about George and/or Lee in her letters to her jail friend, if neither one of the men did anything to her, that may negate the letters and/or testimony of her alleged friend/s, if she lied once to her friend, she can then be thought of as lying the whole time.  This would be a plus for the defense if they could negate her friend's whole testimony.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A high-profile death penalty expert is parting ways with Casey Anthony's defense team.

Lead attorney Jose Baez informed Orlando media outlets on Wednesday that Chicago attorney Andrea Lyon is departing for "financial reasons."

Lyon joined Anthony's defense team with much media fanfare more than a year ago.

The move is not expected to have a significant impact on the infamous murder case.

Legal analyst Bill Sheaffer told Orlando station WFTV that well-known central Florida attorney J. Cheney Mason is alreay involved and that most of the death penalty-related motions have been filed.

Lyon received roughly $20,000 in legal fees before Anthony was declared indigent.

Still, said Sheaffer, Lyon could have remained a contributor if she really believed in Casey Anthony.

“Those who have professed to be true believers in this case have fallen by the wayside mainly because of financial reasons,” Sheaffer told WFTV.
Baez countered that Lyon does believe in the case and has made her own financial sacrifices,  including out-of-pocket travel money,  Baez said Lyon  needs to focus on her responsibilities at the DePaul law school Center for Justice.

Anthony is accused of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony in the summer of 2008. The toddler's remains were found in a wooded area near her home late same year.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder. She claims a babysitter took Caylee.

Her trial is scheduled to begin in May 2011.

Good point, No Rose.  She so rarely appears, I'd almost forgotten about her.  So the much celebrated "Dream Team" of legal experts is dwindling.   What I find interesting is that both LK-B and the Lyon were using this case to push their book sales.  Perhaps sales were not going as well as expected by being associated with Casey.
(Another reason to find Lyon's reason for leaving suspect.   Wouldn't Lyon's royalties be substantial enough to cover travel costs?  Wouldn't she have the ability to get a pretty lucrative contract to write about the Anthony trial because of her personal relationship with Casey?)

Hilarious!!

Good thoughts about the book sales. Linda and her husband strike me as money orientated, just don't see her continuing on with this case, I could be wrong. But Linda is respected among other lawyers, not that this means anything, just can't imagine her ruining that. I'm guessing Andrea was butting heads with Baez and probably with Morgan, who needs that grief? Let those two carry on without her.

Baez always reminded me of the old lady that swallowed a fly with his bringing on board of one attorney after another. It felt like as soon as he thought one attorney was getting to cocky and trying to take charge/become lead attorney, or get more media attention, he'd hire someone else. I think he may stick with Cheney because Cheney seems willing to take the back seat where Bozo is concerned.

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - There was a big development in the case against Casey Anthony on Wednesday as one of her attorneys is no longer working for the defense.

Jose Baez has confirmed that Andrea Lyons, a death penalty expert on the team, is leaving for financial reasons. He added that most of the death penalty motions have been heard at this point.

FOX 35 asked longtime criminal defense attorney Hal Uhrig for his take on this latest move. He speculated that there wasn't any money made available by the court to fly Lyons back and forth from her offices in Chicago. He also raised an interesting point that Lyons' primary claim to fame is keeping her defendants out of the electric chair.

"I'm not sure it's going to have any impact on the most important phase of the trial, which is, 'Is she going to be found guilty or not guilty?'" said Uhrig.  "If she's found guilty of anything less that fist degree capital murder, you're not going to have a second part of the trial."

Lyons' replacement, Cheney Mason, has a reputation of getting "not guilty" verdicts. Uhrig says he has know Mason for thirty years on a professional level.  He says Mason is near retirement and may not need the money. Mason also has what Uhrig calls a, "home town advantage," meaning he knows the Central Florida judges and their judicial temperament, which could benefit Anthony's defense.

Hi nrcg, I have wondered that myself.  I don't believe she would fall into the expert category, even though her expertise is forensics, she is still an attorney....and would have to not only work pro bono, but also pay her own expenses.  Unless we 'see' her at the depositions of the people from the lab, then I doubt we will see her at all.  JMO of course

Honestly I think the problem isn't so much having reputations ruined by defending kc, but defending a case directed by Bozo. He brings in attys with expertise that he will never have, builds them up like they're going to lead the way because of their experience and knowledge and then he proceeds with his inept bumbling and un-defendable theories. Meanwhile they occupy the side chairs, twiddling their thumbs while baez makes outrageous claims.
He is using this case for his benefit, the longer it drags on the better for him. KC has been in virtual isolation, she appears to have been under his spell and denies any contact with anyone outside defense goons. IIRC Cindy said that Andrea was the one working to get kc to see them or look their way.

A lawyer with his skill set has no business calling the shots for a client facing DP. I surely don't want her to skate by having some slick atty but it's a guarantee that she will appeal whatever the verdict because of him. (IMO)

Chicago attorney Andrea Lyon, who joined the Casey Anthony defense team to fight prosecutors' desire to seek the death penalty for the 24-year-old Orlando woman, is no longer on the team.

Lead Anthony attorney Jose Baez confirmed that Lyon has left the defense because of financial issues. He filed paperwork with the Orange County Clerk of Court's office late Wednesday reflecting Lyon's departure.

Casey Anthony's defense will not be jeopardized by the departure, he said.

"She [Lyon] would not have left if she felt it would affect Casey. I know that," Baez said.

Lyon was not immediately available for comment. An outgoing message on her office answering machine said she would not be receiving her voice messages.

In late May 2009, Lyon, a nationally known death-penalty attorney, joined Casey Anthony's defense team.

At that time, her team needed to find a qualified death-penalty attorney who met the state's criteria — which includes five years' trial experience and service as lead attorney in at least nine state or federal jury trials of serious or complex cases.

By then, Lyon, a DePaul University law-school professor, had handled more than 130 murder cases and more than 30 potential capital cases.

Terence M. Lenamon, a Miami death-penalty attorney who briefly worked on the Anthony case, said the loss of Lyon is not good for Casey Anthony's defense.

"In the long run I think it's going to be detrimental to the client," Lenamon said. "I think Andrea is a great lawyer … I'm severely disappointed someone with such great experience and who clearly had the client's best interest in mind is leaving the team."

What do Tom Hanks and Casey Anthony have in common?

They have both starred in something called “The Money Pit.”

WFTV-Ch. 9, via its 10 p.m. news on sister station WRDQ-Ch. 27, explained that defense attorney Andrea Lyon “wants out because the case is a money pit,” anchor Vanessa Welch said tonight.

WFTV explained that defense attorney Jose Baez will continue to consult with Chicago attorney Lyon but that she was leaving the case for financial reasons. Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said he wasn’t surprised Lyon had departed because the money has been exhausted. Sheaffer added that Orlando defense attorney Cheney Mason can take over Lyon’s duties and said if Lyon were a true believer she would still be with the case.

Yet Baez described Lyon as “a wonderful lawyer” who believes in Anthony’s case and who spent her own money on the case, WFTV’s Kenneth Moton reported.

WESH-Ch. 2 legal analyst Richard Hornsby said Lyon’s departure was a huge blow. “The defense as a whole is definitely going to take a step back without her resources and knowledge,” he said.

Hornsby didn’t buy Baez’s cost explanations for Lyon’s departure. “She wouldn’t have had to have a lot of costs to incur,” he said. “I think the cost excuse is really a cover for something a lot bigger with Andrea Lyon’s belief in the defense team.”

Baez told WESH that simply wasn’t true and that’s Lyon’s departure wouldn’t affect the defense.  (The report aired on the 10 p.m. news on sister station WKCF-Ch. 18.)

Casey Anthony will appear in court Friday afternoon in an emergency hearing.

The emergency motion by her defense attorneys is asking the judge to appoint a special magistrate to watch as expert witnesses look over evidence in possession of the Sheriff's Office.

Anthony's attorneys are arguing that allowing the officials from the Sheriff's Office to be present while counsel and expert witnesses inspect the items of evidence would unfairly subject statements made between counsel and the expert witnesses to discovery, creating an unfair prejudice against the defendant (Anthony) in her preparation for trial.

Judge Perry will be hearing the motion in the case against Casey Anthony tomorrow at 1:30pm.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Attorneys for Casey Anthony filed a new list of witnesses on Thursday who will testify on behalf of her defense.

Four of the eight names on the list are expert witnesses. The defense team wanted to include more experts, but Judge Belvin Perry denied the use of more tax money to pay for them.

The witness list includes a plant expert from Colorado, Dr. Jane Bock, and an insect expert from Nebraska, Dr. Timothy Huntington. A Canadian forensic anthropologist is also included, as well as Florida International University professor Dr. Ken Furton. They are expected to challenge tests on the air in Casey's car.

"The case has always been kind of simple, and the witness list reflects that," defense attorney Richard Hornsby said.

Hornsby said the experts will attack the science involved in the tests. Others on the list, including Roy Kronk's ex-wife, will be used to try to raise reasonable doubt that someone else could have put Caylee Anthony's remains in the woods after Casey Anthony was indicted and jailed.

Hornsby said the list looks minimal since Anthony declared indigency.

"I think the defense had some grandiose ideas about how they were going to attack the state's case with experts from all over the country," Hornsby said.

But those ideas were cut back by Perry, who because of Anthony's indigency became the decider of which defense experts were necessary and which ones were not.

"If you're only going to have one testify, why do I have to pay for two?" Perry asked.

"Once you declare indigency, you're not entitled to an extravagant defense -- just a reasonable defense," Hornsby said.

I had the same thought as well. And didn’t LKB also have a book out with hubby? I think she didn’t want to seem too obvious by quitting after the book tours were over. Lyon, on the other hand, is too arrogant to believe that anyone might think she was motivated by publicity. Everyone on the not-so-dream team is motivated by publicity imo. I don’t think Baez will leave, because he was a nonentity before this case, and if he quits will turn back into a “nothing” legal hack before you can say “Bozo!”

Defense Wants Expert Witnesses To Inspect Evidence

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony's defense team wants the judge to appoint a magistrate to oversee expert witness inspection of evidence in the case.
The defense filed the emergency motion Thursday and Judge Belvin Perry scheduled a hearing for 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The defense said it is flying in a team from across the county to inspect documents and evidence in the murder case which are in the possession of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

"Counsel believes that allowing the officials from the Sheriff's Office to be present while counsel and expert witnesses inspect the items of evidence would unfairly subject statements made between counsel and the expert witnesses to discovery, creating an unfair prejudice against the defendant in her preparation for trial," the motion said.

The defense wants the inspection to take place on July 13 and 14.

A courthouse official said Anthony will be present for the hearing. She has not appeared in court since falling and injuring herself in a courthouse elevator in June.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee Anthony. Caylee was 2 years old when she was reported missing in June 2008. Her remains were found in a wooded area near the Anthony family's east Orange County home.

I am curious to see if George attends court tomorrow. It's been a while for him.

I'm betting no. He's pissed about the molestation allegations, he's not going to support her in court if it's the last thing he does...... but if Cindy say so.... OK.

Reading Cindy’s letters to her daughter  Casey were very disturbing . My first question was a. ) why is  she writing diatribes about how Caylee will be found and how there were sightings as recent as January 2010 when we all know the remains were already found?

b) Why is she so concerned about  her daughter’s looks- her “beauty” a theme also common to George who also seems  overly concerned with his daughter’s looks and  weight gain  when she may be facing a lethal injection c)  why is she sending Casey photos of  Caylee and writing how much Caylee loved her mommy. Was it done to passive aggressively keep reminding  Casey what she did to Caylee?

In George’s words  WHY?WHY? WHY is she doing this?

They are alleging that questioning or any other conversation between attorneys and expert witnesses would constitute "real time work product," and therefore suggest that this is protected under what is known as the "work product doctrine."

In the motion submitted on Thursday, Jose Baez writes that, "the State has an obligation to permit the defendant to inspect, copy, test, and photograph" material within the State's possession or control.

News 13 has confirmed there will be an emergency hearing will held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Case Against Casey.

Anthony will be present.

Here's what the hearing will cover: Anthony’s defense team wants to be able to inspect evidence in the case that's being held at the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

In court papers just filed, Anthony's attorneys want Judge Belvin Perry to appoint what’s called a "special master," which is an objective ******* -- a lawyer or retired judge -- who will impartially oversee the defense's request to view this evidence.

Prosecutors and law enforcement officials wouldn't be allowed to participate.

The defense team wants to view the evidence over two days -- July 14 and July 15 -- and several top defense experts are planning to attend.

News 13 has also learned who those experts are.

The defense recently filed its amended witness list that has new experts.

Unarguably, Anthony's murder trial will come down to circumstantial evidence, which means experts hired to analyze dirt, dust, remains and other evidence hold her fate in their hands.

The latest hired experts for the defense are no strangers to the courtroom.

Dr. Jane Bock has analyzed plants and other evidence for criminal investigations for years. According to her web page, for nearly 30 years she has worked on developing the use of plant cells in the gastrointestinal tract to aid in homicide investigations.

Dr. Timothy Huntington has consulted on more than 50 death investigations. The forensic entomologist was one of the experts waiting to get access to where Caylee's remains were found in December 2008. He studies insects to help establish a time of death.

Dr. Scott Fairgrieve is a forensic anthropologist. He's expertise is the use of cadaver dogs. He's likely consulted with the search, recovery and analysis of Caylee's skeletal remains.

Dr. Kenneth Furton, the only Florida expert listed, will likely testify in the areas of drug analysis and dogs detecting chemicals.

The state is also relying on several experts to make their case. A billing expense was recently released for their forensic entomologist, Dr. Neal Haskell.

News 13 was the first to report the expert is expected to earn $20,000 for his analysis of insects.   

In the case notes, Dr. Haskell wrote "in more than 800 cases over a 25 year period, this case has generated the highest number of samples I have ever had to analyze."

Other expert witnesses include Dr. Henry Lee, a forensic expert who has worked on many high profile cases.

Also, one of the nation’s most renowned DNA experts, Dr. Lawrence Kobilinsky, is working with the defense.

News 13 will be in court for the hearing Friday and we'll continue to be out front in developments on this case.

As of 2010, everyone knows it was little Caylee’s skull that was found with the duct tape over the mouth and nose area. They know that Casey’s remains were found. So, for Cindy to refer to Caylee sightings as late as January 2010, it seems to me that  possibly Cindy

is  a) so in denial because the truth is too difficult for her to bear,

b) so out of it on medication that her memory is affected

c) is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s or

d)is writing these letters and reference to Caylee, as a form of manipulation in creating ” reasonable doubt”

I choose (d).Cindy is no dummy. Just as she knows all the videos will be seen,  she knows that all the letters  she writes to Casey will be seen and read/ Therefore , she knows that by writing about a Caylee  sighting,  if those letters become pieces of evidence they will be  used by the defense as a possible way to establish reasonable doubt.

Cindy is clearly being manipulative in my opinion and knows exactly what she is doing here. She even mentions  Zani’s half brother Hector as you see in her letter above, when she very well knows that there is no  Zani the nanny and definitely no Hector, which she wrote in parenthesis.

What does a new list of defense witnesses in Casey Anthony’s case mean?

“That list is pretty brief,” WESH-Ch. 2 anchor Martha Sugalski said tonight.

WESH’s Bob Kealing agreed, noting that four of the eight names were expert witnesses. “The list would have been longer but Judge Belvin Perry denied the use of more tax money to pay for them,” Kealing added.

Kealing listed the experts: a Colorado plant expert, a Nebraska insect expert, a Canadian forensic anthropologist and a Florida International University professor.

“The case has always been kind of simple, and their witness list reflects that,” Orlando attorney Richard Hornsby told Kealing.

WFTV-Ch. 9’s Kathi Belich also listed the experts and speculated that the defense will rely on the insect expert  to “refute … damning evidence” that Anthony put daughter Caylee’s body in her car trunk. Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in Caylee’s death. 

“The forensic evidence in this case will come down to a battle of experts,” WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer told Belich. He added that juries are usually tougher on defense experts, who are paid for their work.

Another defense witness is the ex-wife of meter reader Roy Kronk, who found Caylee’s remains. Kealing speculated that the ex-wife will be part of defense’s efforts to raise reasonable doubt about who placed the toddler in the woods.

In other Anthony news, Judge Perry has ordered a hearing for 1:30 p.m. Friday about a defense motion to have a special magistrate present when defense experts review evidence. Anthony is expected to be at the hearing.

Thanks for the updates, my vote, no George in the courtroom. I found it very strange that not only Cindy and George mentioned Casey's beauty over and over, but Mallory did also. Maybe that is what is demanded from Casey, you need to talk about her beauty.  LOL   She is no beauty, but I can't say she isn't attractive. Those letters were all just plain creepy. I was especially bothered by Cindy saying I love you mommy, and it was signed with Caylee's name, who in the he!! does that?

Casey Anthony heads to court Friday for an emergency hearing.

The accused child killer's attorneys will be arguing over how they'll be allowed to review evidence.

They're asking Judge Belvin Perry to allow them and their expert witnesses to examine evidence being held at the Orange County Sheriff's Office without anyone from the state or the sheriff's office present. They want Perry to appoint a special magistrate to be there when they look over the evidence in about two weeks.

The state has asked for deputies to oversee Casey's legal team during this time. But Attorney Jose Baez argues it's critical that the defense be able to consult with their expert witnesses without anyone from the sheriff's office looking over their shoulder.

The defense has asked Judge Belvin Perry to appoint a special magistrate to supervise defense experts when they examine evidence later this month.

“Normally, investigators with the sheriff’s office would oversee this type of work, but Casey’s lawyers don’t want them there,” WFTV-Ch. 9 anchor Vanessa Echols said on today’s noon news. “This request is really unusual.”

WFTV’s Kathi Belich agreed. She said it might be “unprecedented” for “a defense team to ask the sheriff’s office to leave its own building so defense experts could have privacy in viewing evidence in a death-penalty case.”

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

WKMG-Ch. 6’s Cortney Hall explained that a special magistrate would “watch as defense experts comb through a mountain of forensic evidence” at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

“The state wants deputies there with the defense team when they go through it with experts,” Hall said. “Casey’s attorney Jose Baez says that’s not fair. He says it’s critical his team be able to talk with their experts alone, without sheriff’s officials present, so deputies don’t overhear their findings and can’t repeat what they hear in court.”

ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS/WKMG) Casey Anthony's "Angel" is leaving her defense team. Andrea Lyon, an attorney for the Florida mother accused of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee cited a lack of funding for travel costs and other expenses as the reason.

Andrea Lyon, known as the "Angel of Death Row" because of her extensive experience with death penalty cases, practices law in Chicago and teaches law at DePaul University there. She joined the defense team last year when Anthony did not have a qualified death penalty attorney, Anthony's lead defense attorney, Jose Baez, told CBS affiliate WKMG.

Shortly after Lyon joined the team, a local veteran death penalty attorney, Cheney Mason, also joined the team. Baez told WKMG that Lyon would not have stepped down if Mason hadn't joined. Baez added that Lyon will still serve as a resource to the defense team and Anthony, even though she won't be at their side in court.

Lyon said in a statement that she remains committed to a vigorous defense for Anthony.

Both Anthony and the defense gave Lyon's departure their blessing, according to Baez.

Casey Anthony's daughter, Caylee, was reported missing in July 2008, a month after Casey claims to have last seen her daughter. Caylee's remains were found five months later in a wooded area near the Anthony family's east Orange County home.

Anthony has pleaded not guilty to murdering Caylee and her trial is set to start in May 2011.

Anthony is set to appear in court on Friday at 1:30 p.m. for an evidentiary hearing in her case.

No idea but I would bet that asking the police to leave the building where the evidence is kept that they are responsible to protect and ensure is not tampered with is not sitting well with them.  Bobo is not making any friends and I feel this yet another waste of citizen's money. 

Hi Monks!  I have a 'feeling' about a couple things. First of all, why is this an emergency hearing?  Didn't JP warn them about this kinda thing? Who's dim bulb went on and said let's see if we can get our hands on this evidence ( insert Dr. Lee here) without someone from the Sheriff's office keeping tabs on us (insert Dr. Lee here) and wouldn't that also break the chain of evidence?   Also, CM just took on a very high profile case that is due to go to trial in October......this will take up a lot of his time...it's a POLITICAL case....so will this leave BOZO on his own.....are they setting up for a sure claim ineffective counsel? OR does BOZO really think he can handle this one his own?  and simply is using CM's name/experience as he is NOR death qualified?  My hinky meter has been going of like made the past couple of days......AL leaves, CM takes on a huge case....BOZO is left on his own??  Sumptin STINKS

Sherriff's office was not given a copy of the motion or given notice of the hearing.

Bobo has requested for his experts to use Sherriff's equipment, but the equipment is not in the same location as the evidence is being held currently.  Bobo is such a putz for even requesting this without talking to the Sherriff's office and getting his information straight.  What a waste of court time, waste...huge waste.

This is all such a waste, the defense team is dwindling, and it is nothing but a big mess.

JP checked if there was any cases as well he had his staff check for similar cases and they found Nada.

JP chalks it up to discomfort between team Bobo and the prosecution .

This is like 100 other cases that has occurred involving homicides.

Court has no controll over the news media.

Court orders the following:
Sherriff to move evidence to a air conditioned place for inspection
Defense must give a detailed list of what they want to inspect
Law states both sides must be there for inspection
Defense will be present, Sherriff's and prosecution representatives can also be present. Area close by where defense can discuss anything they want in the privacy of a separate room, no recording devices in the separate room.

Video taping of inspection of evidence is PERMITTED

Judge will have one of his staff available by phone for the entire time the inspection is taking place so that if there are disputes he will mediate immediately

Bobo asked if video taping could not include any members of defense team.  I am getting the sense they are bringing someone new onto the team that they don't want to be made public yet.

Hi Boo, I have always wondered if Casey and actually see in the monitors - what is being caught on live feed. She always seems to " caught" as if she actually does know who and what is on the monitor.

Another court victory for Casey Anthony.

Orange-Osceola Chief Judge Belvin Perry ruled this afternoon in favor of an argument from Anthony's defense team, agreeing that a special magistrate is the way to go during inspections of evidence in the case.

The evidence in question are items that were collected from the wooded area where the remains of toddler Caylee Marie Anthony were found in December 2008.

Anthony is accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter, and the state is seeking the death penalty.

Perry ruled that the defense and the state could have representatives in an air-conditioned area with another area nearby for either side to talk about the evidence that is looked over.

The evidence is currently in possession of the Orange County Sheriff's Office, and the state wants agency officials present during the defense's inspection, Baez wrote.

Baez said it's critical that the defense team and experts be able to consult each other during the evidence inspection without sheriff's officials present.

Defense attorney Jose Baez had said the defense team has several experts "from all parts of the world" lined up to review evidence in the first-degree murder case.

Having sheriff's officials there "would unfairly subject statements made between counsel and the expert witnesses to discovery, creating an unfair prejudice against the Defendant in her preparation for trial," Baez stated.

Linda Drane Burdick said the Sheriff's Office wants to videotape the inspection to maintain the integrity of evidence.

The experts are slated to inspect the evidence July 13 and July 14. Those are the only days all experts could meet with the defense attorneys.

The experts and attorneys will test, copy and photograph the evidence.

They are not asking to test the evidence, just inspect it.
