Uh Oh! I just see where there was an earthquake in British Columbia! Did you feel it?

Nope.  Felt nothing.

PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. — A moderate earthquake occurred early Tuesday in the Queen Charlotte Islands region off of B.C.’s central west coast, according to Earthquakes Canada.

The 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck at 7:30 a.m. local time. No injuries have been reported.

An earthquake in this range is classified by as “strong” and “may cause a lot of damage in very populated areas,” said Earthquakes Canada.

The area where the earthquake struck is located about 260 kilometres southwest of Prince Rupert, B.C.

According to the Geological Survey of Canada, the Pacific coast is the most earthquake-prone area in the country.

The last massive earthquake to hit the Queen Charlotte Islands off the coast of B.C. was in August of 1949, at a magnitude of 8.1. The shaking was so intense that cows tipped over in fields. In Terrace, B.C., cars bounced around and windows shattered.

A separate bulletin from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said “no destructive widespread tsunami threat exists” after the quake.

A USGS spokesman had told Twitter's BNO News that no significant damage is expected.

Night Monkeys. I pray for Shaniyah and that her killer is brought to justice.

I am very very tired and worried about my Mom's surgery Wednesday. She will be fine, but I still worry.

Thanksgiving is coming and then Christmas and then I have to go on vacation. I always have an overwhelming sense of doom when I go away.

Now, JSM, don't worry. You know the most important part of any surgery is the anesthesia and I am sure her husband has that covered and she will have the best ! She will also have so many people praying for her that she will be better in no time. Patients used to be hospitalized for a week to ten days for back surgery. Now they are often out of bed the same day and home the next. I know you can't help but worry but you will all be in our prayers.

Thanks Blumonkey. I know she will be fine, I just worry about her. This is her second back surgery and she isn't looking forward to it. Thanks for the prayers. 

That is exactly why I am not having the FIRST surgery. It always seems to lead to more. 

Yeah I'm with you Fanny, this is just an unfortunate thing that has happened. My mom had polio as a child and due to that, her limp from it and vanity at not wearing proper shoes has I believe caused her back troubles.

I think I am mostly dreading time away from the monkeys. I thought about asking for a laptop, since we fought over my mom's in DC  . Plus if worse comes to worse, I can try and look at Monkeys on my blackberry.

She is having surgery at my hospital so I can go back and forth like I did with my stepmom.

I did find out that there are beer stores where we are going, so maybe I have a glimmer of hope. 

Well, there ya go! You're all set. And pond skating rules!! I think maybe you're afraid of the cold? Remember, outside skating puts roses in your cheeks and raspberries on your butt! It's way more fun than rink skating, what with all the little cracks and bumps and kids playing crack-the-whip!

I am afraid of the cold, crack and bumps?  that scares me I may fall through and drown.

Super easy sausage and leek stuffing.

1 lb pork sausage meat (not ground pork - must be the pre-spiced sausage meat you can find in the meat counter.  We get them here in 1lb tubes in the meat freezer)
1 large leek or 2 medium leeks
2 boxes stove top stuffing (whatever your favourite is)


Fry up the sausage meat making sure it is crumbled and seperated until browned.  Cut the green part and root part off of the leeks.  Slice leek lengthwise cutting halfway through.  Open layers and wash out leek with running tap water really well as leeks have sand between the layers.  Thinly slice leeks so you get leek circles.  Add leek slices to sausage meat and cook on medium until they are tender.  In a large bowl make mix stove top with the amount of boiling water according to package.  Add sausage and leek mixture and  mix.  Put in oven safe dish, cover with tin foil  and bake at 350 for 20 mins.  Done!  You can also use this mixture to stuff the turkey with but cut back on the water or it comes out too runny.

I got kicked out of the cage. So Northern is this like breakfast sausage? How many does this serve? TIA JSM 

It is ground pork sausage that comes in a 1lb tube or bag like ground beef, the one I get here just says pork sausage meat on it.  It would serve 8 if they are all stuffing lovers.
