Does anyone know if she has the option of pleading out anymore?
I thought once the state took the plea deal off the table, that was it and all she can do is confess and throw herself on the mercy of the court.

Not that we know of- the SA withdrew its offer.  I suppose Bozo could do some behind the scenes begging as the trial gets close...
I for one am glad she is sticking with the Zenaida story, that way Zenaida can get mega bucks off them ( CA and KC) as punitive damages when her case goes to court....  that way any money they earn in the future can go straight to her! 

I would like to see Bozo beg...that would be the first thing he has done.

Casey Anthony’s murder trial will start May 9, 2011, and that was a top story at noon today.

WFTV-Channel 9’s Kathi Belich noted that prosecutors had suggested the trial start a week earlier.

So WFTV anchor Vanessa Echols saw the later date as “a slight win for the defense.” Belich agreed.

The trial date occupied a prominent spot on the Web sites of WFTV, WESH-Channel 2, WKMG-Channel 6 and WOFL-Channel 35.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

I know this is not a popular view, but I still don’t expect this case to ever go to trial. With that thought in mind it makes sense that the defense hasn’t really done much of anything to defend their client besides try to discredit anyone remotely related to this case. They’re stuck with the nanny story because they could never put that lying murderess on the stand to tell a new unbelievable story. All those involved in her defense have been riding the fame train and the longer it takes to reach the station the more publicity comes their way. Now that there are time restrictions on work product the defense is more than willing to have the taxpayer shoulder the cost so that they reap more benefits. They can go through the motions of preparing for court and still get paid. I’m sure I’ll be waiting around until May 2011 to see the end of this saga and hope I see KC get LWOP(guessing she win a plea deal) for her dastardly deed…..For now I am patiently waiting for justice for little Caylee. I might add that I would also like to see convictions against those that aided in the despicable cover up and hindrance of the investigation.

I go from thinking this will never go to trial....to yes it will. I think if AL stays with the case she might eventually convince KC to take a plea............against all of BOZO's objections ..........at least that this what I think TODAY

I really would like to see the maximum penalty ordered but it seems most condemned to the DP end up filing appeals, receiving stays and costing the tax payer millions of dollars before they are executed 10 to 20 years later if at all.  LWOP or lethal injection will not bring Caylee back so as long as she pays for her crime for her entire life in any way it’s fine with me. And if LWOP is negotiated at least we know that KC will never live the beautiful life and will have plenty of time to think about what she is missing and what she did to her child.

Defense Says Photos Are Too Prejudicial For The Jury

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony's defense attorneys have filed a motion requesting that a jury never see photos of the young mother partying while her toddler was missing.
Anthony, 23, is jailed on first-degree murder charges in the death of her daughter, Caylee. Caylee was 2 years old when she was reported missing in July 2008 after being missing for a month. Her remains were found five months later.

Anthony's defense wants Judge Stan Strickland to bar the prosecution from showing a jury photos of Anthony drinking beer and partying during the month between Caylee's disappearance and when she was reported missing.

In the motion, the defense said photos of her partying while Caylee is missing are too prejudicial. The defense also argued that photos of Anthony partying prior to Caylee's disappearance are irrelevant.

The defense is also asking the judge to prevent a jury from hearing Anthony's mother's frantic calls to 911 reporting Caylee missing and from seeing certain witness statements made by Anthony's parents, friends and detectives.

The defense said these items would make a jury prejudicial and deny Anthony the right to a fair trial.

Meanwhile, Strickland signed an order scheduling the trial to begin on May 9, 2011.

Anthony's defense also recently filed a motion asking Strickland to declare Anthony indigent and have the state cover the defense's costs.

It was revealed on Friday that Anthony has already paid her defense team more than $111,000, but it was not clear where that money came from.
Anthony recently pleaded guilty to check fraud that occurred prior to her arrest on murder charges. In addition, her parents are facing foreclosure on their Orange County home.

Local 6 legal analyst Mark O'Mara said it is possible that Anthony used money from selling photos, videos or information while Caylee was missing

"Anything that she may have had that she ended up selling to media may well have been the source of the money," O'Mara said.

O'Mara said it would not be illegal for Anthony to have profited from selling photos or videos while Caylee was still missing.

A New York law prevents people from profiting from their crimes. It was passed after the so-called Son of Sam killer, David Berkowitz, tried to profit from his crimes.

"Florida has a similar statute, but it requires you to be convicted," O'Mara said.

Gainesville mass-murderer Danny Rolling inspired the Florida law when he tried selling art and other materials he produced after he was convicted of killing five college students.

Anthony has not been convicted of murder, so the law does not apply to her.

Even before conviction, Anthony and other accused criminals would not be allowed to pay their attorneys with money they obtained illegally. For example, an accused drug dealer could not use money earned from dealing drugs to pay an attorney.

"If it came from an illegal source, then it can be seized by the court," O'Mara said. "There's no allegation here (that) what she got was from an illegal source."

Strickland questioned defense attorney Jose Baez behind closed doors after the state questioned whether he stood to profit from any entertainment deals. At that time, the judge found that the defense, however it has been paid, has done nothing wrong.

Casey Anthony Trial Date Set
Motion Sets Trial Date For May 9, 2011

A date has been set on Monday for the much-anticipated trial of Casey Anthony.

Anthony's trial is set to begin on May 9, 2011.

Judge Stan Strickland also set a schedule for the case to proceed. He ordered that all depositions of witnesses to be completed by Oct. 31, 2010.

The trial has been delayed several times in the past.
On Friday, Anthony's defense filed a motion for indigence, claiming prosecutors decision to seek death will require them to ask the state to pick up certain investigative and travel costs.

Criminal defense attorney Richard Hornbsy said he has successfully applied to have clients declared indigent but said the process is strict.

"The taxpayers are going to be on the hook for Miss Anthony's due process cost, I have no doubt about that," Hornsby said.

The attorney said the Judicial Administrative Commission will have strict guidelines over what costs are picked up and what fees are paid.

"There will be transparency with what she's paying, what she's doing," Hornsby said.

In order to be successfully declared indigent, Hornsby said Anthony's defense team will have to make full disclosure about how she managed to pay $111,000 in legal fees.

"The public has a right to know how the private attorneys were paid and what their interests are," Hornsby said.

Anthony, 23, is in the Orange County Jail charged with first-degree murder in the the death of her daughter, Caylee.
Caylee's remains were found in a wooded area off Suburban Drive near the Anthony family home in December 2008.

Anthony maintains a nanny by the name of Zenaida Gonzalez kidnapped Caylee.

What about the mystery of Casey Anthony’s finances?

Answers  are likely after the defense team moved to seek partial indigent status for her means. She is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

WESH-Channel 2’s Bob Kealing summed up the situation this afternoon: “Although she spent more than $100,000 on legal fees from some mystery source, Casey Anthony has filed new court papers saying that she’s broke and needs taxpayers’ help.” About $90,000 of that money went to defense attorney Jose Baez.

WFTV-Channel 9’s Kathi Belich pointed to “the only known source which could have brought that kind of cash”: Disney-owned ABC. Belich said it isn’t known what Anthony paid to some defense members, such as Linda Kenney Baden.

WKMG-Channel 6’s Tony Pipitone also pointed to television networks that paid fees for photographs and video. A legal analyst said there is nothing illegal about that arrangement because Anthony has not been convicted.

No date has been set for a hearing on the indigency issue, Belich added.

WKMG anchor Mike Garofalo stressed costs — not attorney’s fees — are the issue. “Our legal analyst predicts, though, predicts [Judge Stan] Strickland will approve that request because denying it could be seen as preventing Casey from getting the defense she needs in a death-penalty case,” Garofalo said. “Lawyers tell us the costs could reach half a million dollars before it’s all over.”

Orlando attorney Richard Hornsby, who provides legal analysis for WESH,  described the indigent process as strict and said it will force transparency in the case.
The public has a right to know how the private attorneys were paid,” Hornsby said. “At the hearing, they will say, ‘Judge, before you can declare her indigent, under the statute you have  to make him [Baez] disclose the source of his funds,’ and so that is going to happen.”

Public defender Bob Wesley told WESH that indigency means full disclosure is required in the spending of state money.

“There will not be a whole lot of visibility until the process is over  because otherwise you’d be disclosing what steps you’re taking to the presentation of your defense,” Wesley said.

Judge Stan Strickland also set a date for the start of the murder trial: May 9, 2011, barring further delays.

Strickland has said a decision on a change of venue is coming. Oscar Hotusing, a former judge and a legal analyst for WOFL-Channel 35, predicted a change is “highly probable” because of heavy media coverage.

WKMG’s Mike DeForest reported on the defense team’s motions, filed today, to keep certain things out of the trial: Cindy Anthony’s 911 call, other statements made by George and Cindy Anthony, and photographs of Casey Anthony partying. “The defense is trying to limit the number of bad things that the jury could hear about Casey Anthony,” DeForest said.

WFTV also reported that the prosecution had released two CDs of evidence to the defense team. They include 300 pages of documents plus information about Joy Wray, a Seminole woman who said she has knowledge of the case, anchor Martie Salt said.

Casey Anthony's defense team doesn't want a jury to see the "party girl" pictures of the 23-year-old, fearing the photos would "inflame the jury" against her.

They call these pictures — most of them taken before her daughter disappeared — irrelevant.

This is one of three defense requests filed late Monday in the first-degree murder case against Casey Anthony, who is accused of killing her two-year-old daughter, Caylee.

The toddler vanished mid-June 2008 but was reported missing a month later. Her remains were found on Dec. 11, 2008 in woods less than a mile from her family home.

During the investigation, photos have surfaced on the Internet showing Casey Anthony partying with friends in local nightclubs, bars and wild house parties.

One shows a bare-shouldered Anthony wrapped in an American flag and grasping a pitcher of beer. Another catches Anthony dancing with a woman at a nightclub. Three others show Anthony crouching in front of a toilet, pulling down her pants and smiling as a man grabs her breast.

Her attorneys argue the photos have caused a "hostile reaction" by the public, according to the motion.

"The issue in this case is whether or not Miss Anthony committed first-degree murder of her daughter," her attorneys Andrea Lyon and Jose Baez wrote in the motion. "These photographs add nothing to the resolution of that issue."

The defense also wants to keep several statements made by friends and family out of the trial. Many comments the defense considers to be what people heard about the crime and of prior wrong-doings by Casey Anthony.

Her legal team wants to keep out the 911 calls made by Casey Anthony's mother, Cindy Anthony, the day she reported Caylee missing. Cindy Anthony told a dispatcher that she found her daughter's car and it smells like there's been a "dead body" in it.
The defense's third request involves asking the judge to bar prosecutors at trial from eliciting "lay opinion" testimony about Casey Anthony's character or motives. Many witnesses have offered to testify to Casey Anthony's inability to tell the truth — a move the defense wants out.

Orange Circuit Court Stan Strickland has not ruled on the issues or set any hearings.
