Just wanted to point out that during one of the initial interviews with AB, he did state that Zahra had a stomach virus for a couple of weeks before she went missing...which I find highly suggestive.    especially since this was before EB ever mentioned it in a letter.

A new site:

The Zahra Project was formed by me, Kristie, to try and do something to change the world. I hope to unite others like me who are tired of hearing about children abused and killed by their families and DSS, schools or neighbors not protecting them.

Zahra Clare Baker is a beautiful 10 year old two time cancer survivor who lost her leg and hearing to the disease. She spent her childhood fighting for her life just to have that life presumably snuffed out by a horrible stepmother who allegedly repeatedly beat her and kept her locked in her room while her father did nothing. Relatives and the school had called DSS and nothing was ever done. Zahra's parents moved to Hickory, NC, where they reportedly hid the child from neighbors and pulled her from school to hide her abuse. This child could have and should have been saved.

The Zahra Project was formed to demand reform of the DSS and make the world a safe place for children. We hope to establish a network of people across the US to get the word out about child abuse and demand a change from our legislators. We also hope to involve volunteers that can help children where DSS leaves off through interviews and proof gathering.

You're right. Wish I could find the link. Although, if they are gonna have a storyline in place, you would think they would not keep changing it...I don't believe anything either one says.

I don't know if this has been posted before, here's a link to photos inside the Baker home.  It starts with a video, click next to view the photos.

Not sure what this is, but given the circumstances, I find it disturbing:

D.A. Asks To Speed Up Testing On Evidence In Zahra Case

The district attorney has asked the state attorney general to speed up testing on evidence in the disappearance of 10-year-old Zahra Baker. Some of that evidence includes a mattress unearthed in a landfill and a bone found in a wooded area near where Zahra’s prosthetic leg was found.

Hello everyone!  I don't know if this has been posted but I found this website with some more pics of baker's home.  I don't understand why the bathroom was torn apart, and why holes were cut in her bedroom?

Website posts third letter allegedly from Elisa Baker (with video)

CHARLOTTE -- There are new revelations to report in the search for 10-year-old Zahra Baker. The owners of the crime memorabilia website "Serialkillersink.net" posted a third letter that they say is from Zahra's stepmother Elisa Baker.

Last week, the site posted two letters claiming to be written by Elisa Baker from her jail cell. They read, "We really didn't kill her, but what he did after the fact is kinda horrifying," pointing blame to Zahra's father, Adam Baker.

News 14 Carolina obtained copies of the letters, but we haven't published them because the authenticity couldn't be verified. A Hickory police spokesperson says they're comparing the handwriting with other letters written by Elisa, but continue to focus on bigger leads in the search.

Meanwhile, the N.C. Medical Examiner's Office is testing a bone that search teams recovered in Caldwell County Wednesday.

http://charlotte.news14.com/content/local_news/charlotte/632480/website-posts-third-letter-allegedly-from-elisa-baker

The previous two letters from Elisa to the Serialkillersink website can be accessed through the the following link.

http://www.wbtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=13433475

A comparison of the handwriting of these two letters with the most recent implies the same writer.  IMO

What concerns me is that the letters are signed "Elesa" not "Elisa".

Zahra Baker Case: Bone Discovered, Sign of Girl?
Nov. 3, 2010

<snipped>

The find comes a day after the disclosure of jailhouse letters, apparently written by Zahra's stepmother, Elisa Baker, 42, in which she claims police know exactly where the girl is.

The letters maintain neither Elisa Baker nor her husband, Adam Baker, killed the disabled girl, but that Zahra's father did something "horrifying" after the girl was dead.

Police in Hickory, N.C., where Elisa Baker is being held on an obstruction of justice charge, said they had seen images of the letters but couldn't verify that she wrote them without looking at the originals.

Deputy Chief Clyde Deal told ABC News that the handwriting was "similar" to hers and the content matched some of what the woman has been telling police.

"I don't necessarily have any reason to doubt that Elisa Baker wrote the letters, but I can't say that she did write them either," Deal said.

The letters, obtained by ABC News, appear to shift any blame from Elisa Baker to her husband Adam Baker.

She spelled it E'lesa on her myspace page.
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm166/crankycrankerson/Zahra%20Baker%20%20-NC-/Myspaceelisaprofile.jpg

She has several aliases with Elesa being one of them, court dockets have her name Elisa. Looks to me she's still living in fantasyland.

Thanks pink angel.

I guess the spelling of the name is further confirmation that those letters to the  website is from THE Elisa Baker.

They sure do like to decorate with black.  Is the bathroom floor pulled up?  These photos ARE disturbing.  Police don't pull places apart like this unless they suspect some very foul play occurred there.  IT IS SCARY!

The new letter is most likely hers as she did spell her name that way in various of her web presences like myspace.  Has anyone seen the new letter or have a link for it yet?

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. – Nearly a month since 10-year-old Zahra Baker was first reported missing, her stepmother, Elisa Baker, remains in a jail cell.

Elisa Baker was charged with obstruction of justice in connection with Zahra's disappearance.

According to a cousin who paid a visit a visit to the Catawba County jail, Elisa Baker is upset and not doing well.

Baker’s cousin did not want NewsChannel 36 to use her name.

“This is very sad for us,” she said. “Our first concern is finding Zahra, the second is finding out the truth.”

Investigators say Elisa Baker has been cooperating in the investigation. She has been taken to sites where investigators have searched in the past weeks, including Christie Road in Caldwell County. Zahra’s prosthetic leg and a bone that could be human were both found in that area.

Baker’s cousin wouldn’t discuss any of the specifics of her conversations with Elisa.

"Sorry, but what our conversations are about have to be private.  She's very upset."

Investigators issued a subpoena for Elisa Baker's financial records. The subpoena was issued to a bank branch located in a Wal-Mart in Granite Falls.

The subpoena says she may have used as many as eight different aliases and also requested any financial transactions made by Baker's daughter from a previous marriage, Amber Fairchild.

Baker's attorney would not comment on the subpoena. Police will only say it is part of the investigation.

Elisa Baker’s Cousin: We Don’t Know The Truth, Either

Posted: 4:21 pm EST November 8, 2010Updated: 5:37 pm EST November 8, 2010

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. -- A family member of Elisa Baker, Zahra Baker’s stepmother, visited her in jail on Monday.

VIDEO: Elisa Baker’s Cousin: We Don’t Know The Truth, Either

The woman, who did not want to give her name, is Elisa’s first cousin. She is one of the few people outside of attorneys who have spoken with Elisa inside the jail.

“I'm not going to comment about that,” the woman said when asked if she thought Elisa should be in jail.

She added, “I don't think she is the only one who should be in jail.”

Zahra was reported missing on Oct. 9. Elisa Baker has been in jail during most of the investigation into the 10-year-old’s disappearance. She was charged with felony obstruction of justice after police said she admitted to writing a fake ransom note.

Elisa Baker's alleged jailhouse letters say Zahra not missing
Posted: Nov 02, 2010 7:10 PM PDT
Updated: Nov 05, 2010 5:34 AM PDT

NEWTON, N.C. (WBTV) - WBTV has discovered letters allegedly written by Elisa Baker from her Catawba County jail cell.

In the handwritten letters, Baker discusses everything from Halloween being her favorite holiday to pinning the disappearance of her stepdaughter, Zahra, on her husband, Adam Baker.

Read the letters (note: these are large image files)
Letter 1: Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3
Letter 2: Page 1 | Page 2

"He knows what happened to Zahra and yet I'm the one in here at least for now," Baker writes in the letters that also have spiders drawn on them and phrases like "Vamps Rule!" and "Be part of the freak show!"

The owners of a website, Serialkillersink.net, say they reached out to Elisa Baker and started writing to her. The site has interviews and letters from some of the country's most notorious serial killers.

One of the owners, Jessika Gein, told WBTV by phone Tuesday night her husband used a pen name when he wrote to Baker. "We don't doubt the authenticity of it," said Gein regarding the letters.

But some of what Baker allegedly writes is disturbing when she talks about what happened to the little girl who's been missing for nearly a month. She again blames her husband, Adam, writing,"we really didn't kill her but what he did after the fact is kinda horrifying." She goes on to say that she is afraid of her husband.

In another letter she writes, "Zahra isn't missing. The cops know where she is and what he has done. That's right what he has done."

Related: Full Coverage of the Search for Zahra

The letters stop short of saying where Zahra is or what happened to her.

When Gein was asked how they know the letters are authentic she said, "if we write to that person and we get something back and it's stamped by the prison or the jail, the envelope, then we pretty much know it's legit."

Gein went on to say the police know about the letters.

"They said that they have copies of all the letters that are coming and outgoing and that they know they're legit letters," she said. "So they don't doubt it and neither do we."

Police told WBTV it's possible the letters are real, but that they don't have them.

Today, we shared the alleged words of Elisa Baker with two handwriting experts.

Thomas Thornburg says her writing shows the words of a very troubled person.

He said, "She's living in darkness. She calls it a friend, and she can't stay there, she has to surface."

Thomas Grogran runs a Charlotte company called the Forensic Document Laboratory.

According to Grogan, "She's very much into the moment. She's not one to think ahead or regard the consequences of her actions."

WBTV contacted Elisa Baker's attorneys but they have not returned our calls.

Jury sentences man to death for Conn. home-invasion slayings

Dr. William Petit Jr., who survived the brutal attack on his family, said, "This is a verdict for justice." ....

Asked if he thought there would be closure now, Petit said, "There's never closure. There's a hole ... with jagged edges ... that may smooth out with time, but the hole in your heart and the hole in your soul" remains.

"This isn't about revenge," Petit said. "Vengeance belongs to the Lord. This is about justice."

From a previous article at http://charlotte.news14.com/

News 14 Carolina found court documents revealing a subpoena for all of Elisa Baker's bank records from the State Bureau of Investigation. The subpoena listed eight additonal names that Baker's accounts could be under:

• Elisa Young, her last name from a previous marriage
• Elisa Fairchild, her maiden name
• Elisa Proctor
• Elisa Harris
• Elisa Allred
• Elisa Putnam
• Elisa Michelle Church
• Elisa Fullman

What is interesting is they are also looking  at Amber Fairchild's records now

Investigators wait for DNA results, review and re-evaluate in Zahra case

HICKORY, NC (WBTV) - The Zahra Baker homicide case is inching along, as investigators take a time-out Monday from their active search.

Instead, they are focusing on paperwork which must be done, reviewing and re-evaluating their evidence. Police are also interviewing tipsters.

Meanwhile, District Attorney Jay Gaither said he re-iterated with the SBI Crime Lab the importance of putting a rush on the case. Gaither said that is standard procedure, and something the SBI was doing before he made the request.

Since the investigation began October 9th, Hickory Police have submitted four rounds of evidence to the SBI for processing. In two of those submissions, the first results came back within a few days, the next results came back in two weeks.

The SBI has not disclosed what evidence was tested; however search warrants were executed on the former Baker home, two cars parked in the driveway, and a search was done at Adam Baker's work site during the timeframe evidence was submitted.

The last two submissions were made to the SBI on November 3rd and 4th. That's when police also announced they found a possible bone connected to Zahra.

DNA evidence will likely be the most crucial evidence in prosecuting whoever brought harm to Zahra Baker. The ten-year-old was reported missing October 9th, by her father, Adam Baker.

He's been arrested and since bonded out of jail on unrelated charges. Zahra's stepmother, Elisa Baker is charged with writing a fake ransom note to derail investigators.

DNA evidence can take several weeks or months to process. First, a DNA profile from Zahra Baker must be built, before any potential evidence can be compared.

The fact that it's not clear exactly when Zahra disappeared further complicates building her profile. It's not as easy as taking hair from a brush, when it's not even clear when Zahra lived in the family home on 21st Avenue NW.

Her father has since been evicted and police have torn apart walls and floors looking for evidence.

Good for Zahra painting her room that lovely shade of pink.  Goth's hate pink and it shows me that she was already not a conformist to her sick parental units.  She looks to have had a wonderful spirit for a young girl.

Zahra know that you are loved and that many would have died to have had you as their daughter.  All your earthly terrors are gone now sweet girl so you can rest easy now.

LIFE IN THE TRAILER HOME

Punishment was her routine
November 01, 2010 - 8:34 PM

But whenever they started living in the trailer park, Zahra returned to Hudson Elementary School in March 2010 to finish the fourth grade.

In the trailer park, Bobbitt watched Zahra play with the other children, playing ball, playing in the dirt.

“She was the sweetest little thing you’d ever want to meet,” Bobbitt said. “She was full of life.”

Bobbitt’s husband would walk down the hill to give the children candy. Zahra would hug him.

But Bobbitt wouldn’t associate with the woman she knew as Lisa Baker because she didn’t like the way she treated Zahra. She saw her smack Zahra a couple of times. She saw Baker getting angry and in Zahra’s face because Zahra wasn’t running up that hill.

She thought about calling the Caldwell County Department of Social Services, but said others beat her to it, including officials at Hudson Elementary School.

When Zahra went to school with a black eye, school officials called DSS, said neighbor Bobby Green. He said he saw DSS workers in the trailer.

He said a concerned teacher provided Zahra with her home phone number and told her to call.

Neighbor Kayla Rotenberry said she saw Elisa Baker hit Zahra and noticed bruises on the girl’s face and body. She also said that Elisa Baker told her that Social Services was investigating.

“She was angry that people were getting into her business,” she said. “We all tried to stop her. That little girl was so sweet. Always smiling through it all. She just wanted to be loved.”

Neighbors said that Baker injured her hand when she was beating Zahra and hit the prosthetic leg. Baker told her husband she’d fallen and broken the hand, Bobbitt said.

Bobbitt said she saw DSS workers visit. “Lisa tried to tell them the chemotherapy was giving (Zahra) the black eyes,” Bobbitt said.

It was May 10 when Zahra and Elisa Baker went to Charlotte Motor Speedway to receive the hearing aids.

Two weeks later, on May 23, teenaged neighbors took out an arrest warrant on Elisa Baker in connection with an incident related to her making Zahra walk up that hill.

Corrine Yount, 15, lived in a trailer on another road at the base of the hill. Her trailer formed a T to the Bakers’ trailer: the road the Bakers lived on runs up the hill beside the trailer where Corrine lived and in front of the Bakers’ trailer.

Corrine and her friend, Brandy Hefner, 16, noticed Zahra crying as she walked up the hill.

“She was making Zahra walk up the hill by herself because that’s how she would punish her because she (Elisa) knew it would hurt Zahra’s leg,” Corrine said.

When the teenagers intervened, Corrine said Baker came out of her trailer and started screaming and threatening the girls.

“She said, ‘I’m going to teach these two teenagers a lesson and whip their butts,’” Corrine said.

She said Baker continued shouting threats until Brandy’s mother came out and asked what was going on and Baker left, according to the arrest warrant.

Corrine said it wasn’t the first time she’d called authorities about how Zahra was treated.

“You could hear Zahra screaming and Elisa yelling at her, so we would call the police,” Corrine said. “We called DSS on her too, but they never did anything.”

The incident with the teenaged girls came the day after Adam and Elisa Baker were arrested and charged with communicating threats against Elisa’s niece Brittany Bentley, her fiance Zackery Tyler and the couple’s 7-month-old daughter. The threats stemmed from an outstanding debt Bentley owed them, according to the arrest warrant.

“He (Adam Baker) chased me and my fiancee. He literally tried to run us off the road twice,” Tyler wrote in the complaint accompanying the warrant. “He got in the opposite lane, swerved at the driver’s side and we had to swerve to keep from getting hit, then he passed us and slammed his brakes. We had to slam our brakes and still almost hit him.”

The couple went home and gave Baker the money she was owed, but she demanded more, they said. She and Adam threatened the couple with Tasers, according to the arrest warrant.

“They said they would kill me and Brittany Bentley and that they knew where our daughter was and they would kill her if I didn’t pay her,” Tyler wrote.

Bentley said the couple claimed to have a gun in the car and drove to her mother’s home, where Bentley’s daughter was staying. Bentley’s complaint said she feared for her life and the life of her daughter and fiance.

The Bakers were charged with communicating threats in connection with the accusations. Adam Baker was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the incident on the road.

After Zahra disappeared, Bentley went on CBS’ “The Early Show” and described what life was like for Zahra inside that trailer when she went to visit.

“She was locked in her room, allowed five minutes out a day to eat, that was it,” Bentley said. “She was beat almost every time I was over there for just, just the small things. If Lisa would get mad, she would take it out on Zahra, things the kid didn’t deserve. She had a horrible home life.”

The Bakers moved from the trailer some time over the summer, and in either late August or early September, moved into a rented home on 21st Avenue, NW, off N.C. 127 in Viewmont.

Neighbors there said they never saw her.

At the trailer park, Bobbitt said she watched as the Bakers moved, but didn’t see Zahra.

I could be wrong but I get the hinky feeling that a live Zahra never lived in the Hickory home.  Could it be that the little girl met her demise while living in the trailer home with her stepmother and father?  Could it be that a DNA profile could reveal the truth regarding this issue?

Investigators wait for DNA results, review and re-evaluate in Zahra case

DNA evidence can take several weeks or months to process. First, a DNA profile from Zahra Baker must be built, before any potential evidence can be compared.

The fact that it's not clear exactly when Zahra disappeared further complicates building her profile. It's not as easy as taking hair from a brush, when it's not even clear when Zahra lived in the family home on 21st Avenue NW.

From a previous article at http://charlotte.news14.com/

News 14 Carolina found court documents revealing a subpoena for all of Elisa Baker's bank records from the State Bureau of Investigation. The subpoena listed eight additonal names that Baker's accounts could be under:

• Elisa Young, her last name from a previous marriage
• Elisa Fairchild, her maiden name
• Elisa Proctor
• Elisa Harris
• Elisa Allred
• Elisa Putnam
• Elisa Michelle Church
• Elisa Fullman

What is interesting is they are also looking  at Amber Fairchild's records now

Wasn't it that daughter who accused SM of stealing her ss# to get utilities turned on.
