Anna is right about this, monkeys. Trying to get a severe travel warning from the State Dept. is the most effective action each of us as individuals can do - if you think a dive in tourism will make a point.

I know many of you probably think this is beating a limping, if not dead, horse, but if you really read that thread you will understand the premise.

It is extreme arrogance for Aruba to have promoted itself as "a safe place" when the murder rate there exceeds our own, they barely keep crime stats (how would they know how "safe" they are?), they mis-assign cause of death, and barely investigate most deaths?

Several letters are posted on the thread, and addresses. Use the letters as a basis. Get busy! Be proactive!

Should have added to above, re the State Dept. - whatever the politics may or may not be, if enough people are concerned, with hard facts to back up those concerns, they can't just ignore it.

I called, but I guess I wasn't talking loud enuf. I had just come to from being in a turkey coma. I wished Dana a Happy Thanksgiving.
he asked why Canadian / American Thansgiving were on different dates and I had the answer handy.
Canadian TG is based on a ceremony in 1578 that was held by Martin Frobisher giving thanks for making the journey and surviving .  
The American one is based on the pilgrim one.

You did great, Klaas.  After about 15 seconds of sheet terror, it's really easy once you know your voice is going to work, etc.  And Dana will HELP if he needs to anybody who becomes flustered.  He is so kind and helpful and calm it is really easy to talk to him.  Sunfreak did not seem at all nervous or concerned, etc. so we are getting more used to the idea all along.

The last caller must have been Canadian?  KatGram or Leslie?
