From CNN:

Satish Kalpoe to mom: 'We didn't do anything'
The mother of the Kalpoes said Thursday that one son had admitted he and his brother made up a cover story to protect Joran Van Der Sloot.

Nadira Ramirez told CNN she was permitted to visit son Satish Kalpoe at Aruba's prison within the past week.

Initially, Ramirez said, her sons had told her and police they dropped Holloway off at the Holiday Inn, where she was staying. But Satish Kalpoe told his mother later that was a lie aimed at protecting Van Der Sloot.

In fact, he told his mother, he and his brother had dropped Holloway and Van Der Sloot off at the beach by the Marriott hotel, about a mile from the Holiday Inn.

Ramirez tearfully said her son insisted he and his brother were innocent.

"'We didn't do anything. We will be out from here. Don't cry,'" she said he told her.

"I asked him, 'Satish, are you sure you guys didn't do anything?'" she said.

She said he responded: "'No, mama. We gave that girl and Joran a lift.'

"They don't even know Natalee. They said she didn't even introduce herself to them," she said. "They don't know anything else about that."

Ramirez's account echoes comments made by one of two security guards who were arrested June 5 in connection with the case and released June 13.

The guards, Abraham Jones, 28, and Mickey John, 30, were never charged.

After his release, John said Deepak Kalpoe confided to him while they were in jail together that he had lied to police.

Really not buying Mama Kalpoe's story since it has already been confirmed that during visits they are not permitted to speak about anything regarding the case etc. It has been also stated by Anita VDS that when anything might lead to speaking about the case, they lead her son away and end the visits. So I am lost at how Mrs. Kalpoe could get such a statement from Satish.

Not sure I understand the optimism.

I think the optimism is because they are nearly at the end of the search--not because they believe they will find her alive.  The pond at the Van der Sloot's would be the first place I'd look.  The optimism is probably more like "relief" at being at the end of a difficult journey.

Cali, I think if it were just to make him talk, they would arrest his mom.  His dad has already been brought in for questioning at least twice.

Arrow The mom looks like she knows
now for sure he is one dirty daddy

Does anyone remember Greta described Daddy VS as doing something with his hands during the time she and BHT talked to him.

Then the news said they were bringing in specialist who ready body language.

Perhaps they took another look at Fox interview or do they video while they are being questioned and the expects went back and looked at Daddy's.

Maybe Nat and Joran went into the Marriott Casino for late night gambling and Dad was there....Dad/Joran suggested Nat come back to there house for a swim.  Nat thinks its ok, its his Dad should be safe, but Dad decides he wants a piece.  Dad forces himself, kills her...Joran protecting Dad.

Maybe, Videos were reviewed and Forensics are back from both Cars/Home.

Joran lies to K brothers telling about an accident, please cover for me

I still believe that the Kalpoe brothers dropped Joran and Nat off at the beach like they told the second time. This is what got the security guards out of jail, or was part of it..so that leads me to believe that the LE believe this is what happened.

From there I think something terrible happened to Nat, whether it be an overdose or a struggle with Joran. Joran then called his father in a panic and his father took over from there. What they both did with Nat is the puzzle to me. Question

The way this thing is going, she could be next but it could also be a respectful issue that she has not, she's got two other kids at home etc.

I do expect her to brought in for questioning.

Questioning only to see what PVDS has said to her. She was out of the country til Wed of that week.

Right absolut. I believe her to be questioned because he's in custody now.

I have to say, I didn't think much of it before, but when I saw the Greta interview with the Van der Sloot's,  I noticed that Palus did not make real eye contact with Greta when answering her questions.  He also gave short answers.   Also, his look was one more like fear than upset.

Now, Mrs Van der Sloot looks like she has been through the ringer and really has no idea what is going on.  I would say she was not kept in the loop of information.

Will be interesting to see where this all goes.

I feel bad for Anita. Anyone notice has she's gone to looking haggard and comletely out of it now?

Perhaps she should be losing sleep because of wondering why she couldn't be bothered to discipline that scum she raised instead of thinking how unfair it is that sonny boy is gonna get exposed!

I've been thinking about the forensics too.  Those reports, or most of them should be back.  I'm not sure about the behavioral folks, last we heard, a couple days ago they had been requested.  Not sure if they're there yet...or, if they'll start now.

As far as the FBI goes, I'm rather pessimistic after today's reports.  Fox had a report from their FBI consultant/source who said basically Aruba didn't want to use them...they've taken the agents off the case that were sitting in on interrogations.  But, another report suggested the two Birmingham agents may have been collecting evidence that might really help.  Although this person felt there was corruption and a cover-up.  Who knows....

I sadly, did not put much creedence to the TV comments made this am, I had the feeling and I think I posted, that something was going on. I think it was to put the Aruban LE front and center. Another thing I am wondering about. Wonder if any forensics particular to this case involved the panties found near the marriott. I kind of doubt it, but I wonder.

Van der Sloot Father arrested.

Update: Brief communication from island - at least some in search party feel optimistic they will find Natalee soon - I'm unable to say why, or if just a feeling - hope to have more tonight.

EquuSearch head said to be arriving today, will review previous findings and team will set strategy for search when rest of group arrives.

Not sure I understand the optimism.

Yet, I was sensing there was something behind the search of the area near Joran's house...not sure why..but, it just felt that way.  Although, I'm having a hard time believing if there was a body to dispose it was done near his house...cuz' I doubt he went to his house with her.

I think Beth's sense of Natalee in the home was more due to her being near those who know where she is.

I believe she said he was wringing his hands--we could all see the sweat dripping off of him. He looked shifty, too, and didn't say much.

All of that body language seems to add up to this: he knows more than he's saying and what he knows isn't good.

That HORRID Leno. Public Enemy #1 (to many on this board), no doubt. That attitude reeks of, "Mommy, make the bad people stop talking," which is the response from supposed adults on SB when they are faced with ideas/theories other than their own.

"Daddy, Mr. Leno told a joke that hurt my wittle feewings. Can you pweeze turn the tv off since I'm too stupid and too sensitive to get up and do it myself?"

More to the point: Those MB'ers were given a pass and some of them shoud be in the hot-seat along w/ Sly and the Family Sloot.

The FBI is spending MY tax dollars on this case. IF it turns out to be a murder, then bravo to the (usually) bumbling feds, who are much more adept at trashing civil rights of private citizens here in U.S. IF case turns out to be runaway OR self-administered accidental overdose OR party-girl who died as a result of her own foolishness in some way or other, THEN I'm going to petition the Twittys for a refund of my hard-earned tax money. Michelle Malkin is correct in categorizing the media's psychopathy as Missing Pretty-Girl Syndrome.

So, we'll see. REMEMBER, right now nh's status is ALLEGED victim, a fact lost on most of the social-worker/support-group types who are little more than victims' rights advoctates here on SM board.

P.S. A McDonald's on the tropical island of Aruba? Hmmm. What is their most popular menu item? Ans: The "Don't-Worry-Be-Happy Meal." ( I think the Hamburglar did it!!!!!!)

I'm curious if you'd be singing the same tune if it were your daughter missing......

http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/06/23/aruba.holloway/index.html

"Twitty told CNN's "American Morning" she met Tuesday with the parents of 17-year-old Joran Van Der Sloot, one of the people in custody. He's one of the last people reported to have seen Holloway.

She said the Van Der Sloots invited her into their home, when she was handing out prayer cards in their neighborhood.

Twitty refused to give details about their 90-minute discussion.

"I think I walked away with the confirmation that we still have some individuals that we need to pursue," she said."

well, if i remeber correctly did nt one of the holloway family members say that there were possilbly 7-8 others... look out valentijn.....

That's a terrible thing to suggest.  This family has been devastated enough....

and who devastated them?.....you must be a journalist, cause your not a detective....

No, it's a HUMAN response!

No matter what the title, detective, journalist, butcher, baker, candlestick maker no one would make such a suggestion about a child whose family has already endured great loss, without a factual reason to do so!

I'm not trying to start drama, but Nancy, you've been causing trouble for days. I think you need to get off your high horse. It's like you think you're the smartest and most moral person who reads these posts!

I won't be responding to anything you might reply; I'm not a troll trying to cause drama. I'm just tired of self-righteousness.

Very well said, Blue.  Thank you.

Brenda, honestly, that was so uncalled for.

She's a mother and a human being and I think it's about time she gets some respect for being such.

We could pick apart every person in the world if their family members were invovled in something like this but it doesn't make it right. Everyone has dirt or somethings in their lives "some" people don't agree with but the bottomline is, be the better person and show some human compassion to someone who is also obviously hurting and not responsible for this.
