Stranger accused of slapping crying child at store

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Police say a 61-year-old man annoyed with a crying 2-year-old girl at a Wal-Mart slapped the child several times after warning the toddler’s mother to keep her quiet.


A police report says after the stranger hit the girl at least four times, he said: “See, I told you I would shut her up.”

Roger Stephens of Stone Mountain is charged with felony cruelty to children. It was unclear if he had an attorney and a telehpone call to his home Wednesday was unanswered.

Authorities say the girl and her mother were shopping Monday when the toddler began crying. The police report says Stephens approached the mother and said, “If you don’t shut that baby up, I will shut her up for you.”

Authorities say after Stephens slapped the girl, she began screaming.

Oh I tell you if anyone slapped any of my children there would be several ambulances involved as I would beat the living crap out of that person and do everything in my power to break ever bone in both their hands to ensure they never hit a child again and gladly go to jail for it. (how is that for a run on sentance?)

Your brother is in my prayers, and a prayer for your daughter, I'm sure everything will be fine with her.    JSM that looked like Zoe all curled in her bed, she loves her bed but only for a short period of time at night, then she sprawls out on the floor. She doesn't sleep in the bed, because if you bump her by mistake, she growls and shows her teeth, I would prefer to wake up with my fingers and toes 

     
When my hubby bumps me at night, I growl and show my teeth, too.     

  I can't stand to be bumped, something just sets me off, I don't show my teeth and growl, but inside I feel that I could  We never stop worrying  my youngest is going on a road trip next week with her best friend, I'm just thankful it is her girlfriend's car, my daughter's driving skills   

I know what you mean about "daughter's driving skills".   I never let my girls drive me anywhere.   Being in a car with them always reminds me of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disney World.

I haven't heard anything yet today.   His wife normally calls us in the evening to let us know how he's doing.  He is still in ICU.

A "pandemic response bill" currently making its way through the Massachusetts state legislature would allow authorities to forcefully quarantine citizens in the event of a health emergency, compel health providers to vaccinate citizens, authorize forceful entry into private dwellings and destruction of citizen property and impose fines on citizens for noncompliance.

If citizens refuse to comply with isolation or quarantine orders in the event of a health emergency, they may be imprisoned for up to 30 days and fined $1,000 per day that the violation continues.

Forceful entry? Isn't that against the Constitution of the United States. I say fine me $1k per day, you will never see a penny of it because I ain't got it.

LOVIN -  Congrats on your son on winning his football game.  How old is he?

He's seven  my one and only.  He's loved anything that has to do with a ball since birth.  He's naturally athletic (from his dad's side) but knows education comes first.  His mommy doesn't play any games when it comes to school.

The game was fun but mostly which team had the kids who could run the fastest!  Not a whole lot of play calling or anything.

I saw Anna's picture in Musings.  I can't believe how much she's growing already!
