Title: Rosemont Farm - Heather will answer your questions here
Post by: Jasmine_xoxo on August 16, 2010, 10:40:45 PM
Hi there,
I'm Heather from Rosemont Farm.
I see there is still some confusion regarding my tweets and interactions with Dede.
Fire away.
I do have a busy day tomorrow at the farm so if I am slow responding please forgive me.
Thanks in advance,
Heather

Hi Heather, welcome!!!

Having fun yet?

I don't have any questions for you, though it would be interesting to hear your opinion about DeDe, Terri, and Kyron if you ever feel like giving it.

There are some very nice monkeys here, so please be comfortable.

Dede: I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that someone I was going to teach to farm and garden and make chevre (goat cheese) is involved somehow with Kyron's disappearance. Other than being very persistent about being an intern on my farm, nothing led me to feel she was anything other than a wanna-be farmer. We had much in common and I liked her from the start. Not sure how I feel about her now (depending on her involvement...), but she's blocked on my twitter and facebook now 'just in case'. We have many mutual acquaintances in the gardening world of Portland and we're ALL in shock still.

Terri: I know nothing other than what I've read online. I would have strong words for her if we met tho heh.

Kyron: I wish there was something I did know or have knowledge of that would help him come home. I have 3 boys myself and to lose one would kill me. I can only imagine what his parents are going thru right now.

I've never met Dede in person. We did tweet, email, facebook and I *believe* leave voicemails for each other...but honestly not sure about the vms as I get a lot of calls and they run together. At the time it wouldn't have stood out to me one way or the other.

As far as tweeting goes, you find people who have similar interests and you exchange messages. I have no idea when/where/how or even what was said when Dede & I contacted on twitter. In the last year I've tweeted nearly 20K times (grin) and have 2400 people that follow us on the farm and I follow nearly 2000 people...so there are a lot of tweets flying. Dede did talk to me a lot, but from my end hers were mixed in with 100s of other messages from other people so again nothing stood out.
She seemed awfully willing to have a new adventure (like cutting up the pork shoulder I delivered to ONCEpdx for their locally sourced dinner event. I know she spent 2 days there cutting, chopping and doing dishes. It seemed like hard work.

I've never been to Westwind altho I do follow its owner on twitter and I know she has been really impacted by these turn of events. She's in the same boat as me except thank GOD I never met Dede or had her over to my house or my farm as was planned.

I hope that helps.
Keep the questions coming...I've seen some doozies on the internet about our farm and I am happy to answer any questions you have.

This guy appears to have been keep under the radar until he called attentin to himself in a June 31st video interview on KGW Portland ... a video interview that has since gone "poof" from the site.

Oh, I bet there are some doozie questions out there. Now you know why some celebrities refuse to read about themselves online. There are some vicious people who love to post.

If any monkeys get out of line here, just hand them a banana, and they will calm down. Sending Klaas a bananagram also works.

Thanks for your opinions about DeDe, Terri, and Kyron.

I'm at a loss here, how was it that you and your farm ended up intertwined with Dede and Terri?

There are so many theories out there, that my brain has gone blank on all of this.

The week the Muddy Boy video hit everyone's radar I was upset beyond belief...
I should have NEVER googled what was being said about it.

I still shouldn't google the farm in association with this case, many things pop up (sort of half laughing/ half cringing...).

Hi Heather!  I wanted to welcome you also!  I'm sorry for the negative publicity you've gotten because of this horrible situation.  I want to compliment you on coming forward and addressing the situation and how its affected you.  This case needs more people like you.  I'm with cw618 as I believe alot of people do have short term memories (me included) and your farm will be back to normal soon.  I travel to the NW several times a year to visit family.  Do you have a website?  Can't remember if I saw it before..LOL!  Have a good night!

I bet everyone who ever exchanged messages with Dede or Terri will be dawged for some time. Hopefully the case will come to a close soon and those responsible will face justice.

Solving the case will also bring vindication to those people who, like you, have nothing to do with the crime, and are also victims of the person/s responsible for the crime.

Just be patient, and keep doing what you do. You will bare this storm, with God besides you.

Klaas thank you for making this thread.

Heather, I have read your blog and you seem like a beautiful person, Mother, farm owner..

I do want to clear these tweets up that are really bothering me and I have a couple of questions.. if you dont mind answering.

this is from a post I posted..
DEDE Wilsonville is a word Rosemont used as well on the 4th)

Heads up PDX peeps: the Red Robin in Wilsonville has no A/C. I think their heat may be on. 9:07 PM Jul 9th via txt

@Rosemont_Farm is the produce outside by the rd, or do u drive up & knock on the door? 7:25 PM Jun 4th via txt

Rosemont replying to DeDe....
Reply Retweet .   On Stafford Rd between I 205 & Wilsonville, Or is a little farm stand on the left, they offer eggs and seasonal veggies.

Questions...
DeDe knew Kyron was missing at this time. did she mention it to you that day before your tweets at night on the 4th?
if you knew and she knew is that all you did was tweet that day? not talk about Kyron?

the other question I had was are you a part of Westwind farms groups? do you know the owner of that farm?

the other question I had was are you a part of Westwind farms groups? do you know the owner of that farm?

Thanks In Advance for coming here and the answers..

July 9th re the Red Robin tweet: I know nothing. It was very hot that day and perhaps their a/c was broken.

June 4th: tweets about Stafford rd farm stand, was just me trying to encourage our locals to support a nice little roadside stand. It looks like they're doing a lot less veggies this year than last year sadly. It's been a tough year for these farm-type businesses I'm afraid. Dede asked me about them (as in how to find) since Tualatin where she live/d (?) is nearby and would easily be in the normal travel area for her. Stafford rd is a little road that hooks the town of Lake Oswego to Wilsonville. It goes over the top of I-205 and circumvents a lot of traffic if you know about it. Also it was my normal commute to and from work before I got laid off.

No Dede did not mention Kyron missing to me on twitter anytime (I think) except for her "I know this family, so scary" or something like that tweet in response to mine about him being missing. I did not know until she said she knew them that she did know them, nor had I heard of the Horman family before then.

We did talk about it on Facebook in chat (I think chat since I can't find an email) and she was adamant that Terri was a good person and a good mother (in response to my post that I thought Terri had something to do with it...). Out of respect for Dede's friendship with Terri and lack of knowledge as to what really happened to Kyron I stopped implying Terri had anything to do with the case after that. A few times I tweeted something along the lines that this case was bizarre (on the day the MFH news broke for example) but tried to be cognizant of Dede's friendship (aka I just didn't want to be a jerk...and at that time still thought Dede was going to be an intern...).

Westwind Farms: never been there, never met the owner (we follow each other on twitter). She seems like a fantastic person and someone I very much would like to have a real life friend were I not terrified of making any online friendships into real friendships after this Dede thing...

Our farm is about an hour from Portland just FYI so many things that happen in the Portland farming/ gardening community are off our radar unless I see a tweet or facebook post. We would never be part of a Portland garden tour for example because no-one would want to drive that far.

Hope this helps and hope I covered everything. If you have more Qs or need clarification just let me know!

Heather you are so sweet to come here and answer some things that bog in my mind.

Thank you for answering I really appreciate it.

Another question I had was what do you know about Encole JJGonson and Pea. Is Pea Emily thats what I pretty much gathered who she is. do you know any of them or anything about them or the people they had the dinner for? and do you know if they have been to westwind before or know them? another peron that dede worked with besised wetwind farm owner was jean ann van krevelen. dede was tweeting someone jeanann knew in 08 went by 3Giraffes on Twitter. also a guy markeze aka ryan marchese that tweets sue brown and bridget they know maryEllen as well and bridget hangs out with her.
Also, do you know if DeDe is gay any indication? not that I care if shes gay just may explain her relationship with terri better.

I cannot wrap my head around why she would plan this and use people to have an alibi.

I believe you Heather that you have nothing to do with this. I never said you did and people hit me over the head when i asked about those tweets but they were buggin me!
Im glad your here... you giving the answers to some of this gets some weight off of me.. and maybe I can get some more rest.  thank you!!!  ::MonkeyAngel::

Wow!  I'm so glad you have joined us!  I don't have any questions.  Keep up the good work with your farm!  I am a would be organic farmer who can't take much sun.  (I had sunstroke when I was little.)  I always look with longing at people who work the land.

I hope this thing blows over soon.  I hope you continue to visit us even after this mess is over!

Not being able to take the sun would make farming harder but not impossible. Don't ever lose sight of your dream if that's what you really want.

Thank you!

My blog (boring & neglected) is www.rosemontcenturyfarm.blogspot.com.
I just got brave enough to unlock it again.
My twitter account is still locked.

Nothing like having everything you write being dissected worse than your middle school English teacher used to do...

 ::piggy::

More like middle school girls gossip! Congratulations to you for being so forthcoming and opening  yourself  to our questions. I have never had the experience of being dissected in public, but I have had some malicious gossip affect me at work and so wished I had only been asked first ::MonkeyNoNo::, bottom line, KUDOS to you! ::MonkeyCheer4:: and WELCOME ::MonkeyKiss::

It's been an annoying, terrifying, chuckle inducing, drama filled event for me.
I'd like never to experience something like this again.

EnLocale is group that travels from place to place and makes dinner wherever they are (for tons of people) with ONLY locally sourced ingreds. They have a strict budget and a certain time frame...it's very intriguing to a locavore like me :)

JJ is the chef in charge of the ONCE events. Pea is her helper if she is who I think she is (I believe this is the correct dynamic, I think she's Emily but do not know for sure...she was kind of busy that day). I met 2 girls when I dropped off the pork shoulder. They were really nice girls., one was JJ (caveat, the 2nd girl may not have been Pea...)

Unless I am totally mistaken JJ & Pea met Dede because I knew her. JJ was looking for a kitchen helper at their PDX event and she tweeted about it. I RTed (retweeted) it and Dede saw and the rest is unknown to me except for what I posted earlier...I did not work with them nor get to go unfortunately. Also these girls are from back East.

I believe there is no connection whatsoever to them...I've seen some wild theories about their connections. And honestly unless I'm REALLY mistaken they didn't meet Dede until June 12th or whenever that function was...

I have no idea if they knew Westwind farms *however* it would make sense if they did since she is in the local food scene too. Twitter makes the world very small.

I know Jeananne, Bridget, and MaryAnne from twitter. I have never met them in person. These are also really nice like minded people who I would like to know in person.
I do not know Ryan or Sue, but maybe they tweet with different names that I don't recognize.

FYI Jeananne is a published author and very well thought of.

I think all of these people are just casual acquaintances to Dede who have the misfortune of ever knowing her.

Keep 'em comin'

I have to say I love the little piggy myself its so cute  ::piggy::

so did you have an indication dede was gay? I dont think you caught that qeustion, sorry I know theres alot.

and when you met pea did she have blue hair? I know that would have stood out.

I see Jean is a respected person and she has done alot - write books, blogs ect.. I read alot!

however she did work with dede for a few months off and on before all this happened so i had to ask and thought if you knew jeanann maybe she could tell you anything interesting dede may hav said to her.

Do you or any of the other tweet/farmers/chefs/cooks that you are tweet buddies with feel set up by DeDe, saying do they and or you think or feel in hindsight, DeDe had an agenda in meeting them?

So you'll laugh...but as a good Oregonian things like being gay or blue hair don't even phase me or stand out...which means I can honestly say I have no idea on either aspect. I just wouldn't pay attention lol.

I'm trying to respect JA's privacy in this by not bugging her too much. But someone else I know who worked with Dede on June 5th said that Dede was very normal that day. Which is odd if you think she did something nefarious to Kyron the day before...I mean who could hide that???

I won't speak for others, but looking back I can say that Dede was very persistent in her attempts to be an intern on our farm. Maybe we just hit the right spot with her or maybe she had other plans I will probably never know...but the suspicious part of me thinks that maybe she was looking for something in particular when she starting wooing us to allow her to intern at the farm.

Again, I am so thankful for those days when I was too busy to make our Chipotle dates, or have her over to make cheese.

Narrowly averted being deeper in this thing...methinks....

hahaaaaa well It doesn't bother me either.. but thanks for explaining that it was I guess the normal scene. I understand JeanAnn prob doesnt want to be bugged I dont blame her.

I do find it odd that dede acted normal that day too if she did something with Kyron. Its hard for me to believe she didnt because she did not coop. and she bought throw away phones that day on the 4th.. it was in an artical that MSCO told reporter and it was confirmed.

so she did do something. or knew terri was doing something..  do you know anyone she was working with that day one the farm JUN 4th?  I read one person said she left abruptly at 11:15/Im wondering if she was not there all morning before then-and just popped in to get an alibi. the truck was seen near her work area around 10-10:30 witness's say..

 thanks again for answering..

Heather I also wanted to know to about PodChef.. have you met him or has he been to portland? do you know where he lives?

Podchef is an amazing farmer chef who again I have never met in person, but he has helped me a thousand ways with my farm.
He barely knew Dede and I assume she followed him because of my active friendship with him.
He has been busy moving from the West Coast to the East Coast and setting up a new farm. He has 2 cows he hand milks twice a day plus tons of acres he farms...he makes his own cheeses, cures his own meat, makes his own bread, roasts his own coffee, cuts his own wood, grows his own fruits & veggies etc etc etc...he has no time to be tiptoeing around with any criminal activities.

Oh and I think he has 5 kids...

You got my dander up with that one, I do have to say. He's my role model for farming and I'd love to be just like him when I grow up.

I've kept him updated on the Dede drama with our farm, so this will definitely get a rise out of him...

I just mean I assume the 2nd girl was Pea, but cannot say with 100% certainty. It's been a long time since then...plus I was dealing with a rambunctious and hungry son at that time so I only remember so much sadly.

Hi Heather. Thank you for joining us here at SM and for being so forthcoming. We know that you certainly have an awful lot going on right now!

I just have one quick question for you: I believe at the time Dede approached you about becoming an intern, she was unemployed (she'd updated her blog earlier this year with that information). Can you tell us with whom she'd been employed for pay most recently before being laid off?

Thanks again!

Hello Heather  ::HelloKitty:: It wasn't necessarily the people tweeting DeDe that aroused my hinky sense, but the fact that DeDe, who was close enough to Terri to actually stay with her for 10 days after Kaine & Kitty moved out, was tweeting merrily away on June 4th while her good pal's stepson was missing. I would have thought some of her tweets would have reflected that; and may they did, but in a more devious way. What do you think about her tweeting on that day? And do you think, in hindsight, that some of her tweets may have been intended to be read by someone else entirely?

I have a little time so will jump back in...

I knew Dede was laid off because she was offering to help me understand how unemployment works after I expressed 'how to' concerns.

I have no idea where she worked before and it never came up in conversation sorry.

I noticed that Dede went pretty quiet for the most part on twitter and facebook after the 4th with rare updates happening every once in awhile.
But I chalked it up to her concern for the Horman family etc...

I just looked at her tweet stream...it's possible she didn't hear about Kyron missing by 7 PM on the 4th? I don't remember when the news broke...maybe the Hormans hadn't called around yet (??)
The 5th was one tweet to me...the infamous one...(my friend's child)...
The 6th to me again, not sure what it was in regards to.

The 9th she's volunteering at a Senior Ctr, can't wrap my head around THIS with any potential involvement in Kyron's disappearance...people who have evil intentions towards children aren't the volunteer at Sr Ctr types in my humble opinion lol.

The 11th she's offering to help at the ONCEpdx function.

She does seem 'fairly normal' for having a close friend whose child is missing. But until we've done it ourselves we can't know how we'd act IMO.

I'm as confused as the rest of you are about Dede at this point!

Thank-you Jasmine_xoxo, appreciate your posts. The one thing that bothered me about DeDe was in her blog and the bad treatment she gave to one of the dogs she was house sitting, that really turned me off. But to be honest, I just don't see her harming or having any hand in harming Kyron. Now what she all did while staying with Terri, of course I have no idea. And I sure could be wrong with my thoughts.

Any idea where that class was located and if that information was verified by LE?  Thanks in advance.

Thanks it was kind of like jumping off a very tall diving board...the first step is a doozy ;)

I have no knowledge of Dede's actions or whereabouts on June 4th other than what I've read and seen online.
I do know someone who was with her on June 5th and this person stated that Dede seemed very normal to them that day...

No matter what has happened online regarding Dede & my farm I am still having a hard time coming to terms with her being a bad person (to me someone who hides/ harms etc a child would be bad)...
She seemed so nice and genuine. She wanted to learn to make cheese and to can tomatoes. How on earth does someone like that have a super secret dark side?
I know it's possible (BTK was  nice church going man...) but it's still not easy for me to understand.

I wish I had more for you re June 4th. Sorry!

Heather,

Thank you so much for joining Scared Monkeys and for answering questions. You have been very gracious.  Answers are the quickest way to quell all the questions that just keep on-and-on.  Without answers, the questions just seem to get bigger or, at least, more urgent.  I believe you've made a very smart move to answer questions on this forum...not just for the monkeys research...but because so many others read on Scared Monkeys, too.

Hopefully, your life will be back to normal very quickley.  Thanks, again.

Also I just wanted to offer to host a 'search party' on the farm for any locals who still feel the need...
I have about 2 acres of brush and blackberries that need cleared. Make sure to bring your gloves.

I'll make lemonade and hang out in the hammock tee hee.

I absolutely love blackberries!  If I didn't live in Texas, I'd be there in a flash.

Yeah that'd be an expensive blackberry pie ;)

I was thinking that too, since so many of the seemingly biggies actually had really mundane answers that once explained would allow people to move on to more useful questions as in where in the he double hockey sticks is that cute boy!?

Understand the nervous...I haven't a criminal bone in my body...never could get away with anything...always told on myself(and 8 other siblings) growing up 'cuz I felt so guilty("Dad, we went 2 steps past our boundaries")...no wonder my brothers were always putting me in trees and leaving me in the woods!

Heather I just want to Welcome you to Scared Monkeys!!!  You're a brave lady!
I don't have any questions because others have asked about the things I was curious about so you've pretty much answered them for me.  I did see the Muddy Boy video and I enjoyed it.  I have sons and although they are grown I think they still like to get dirty, only now its under the hoods of cars and such. LOL

My mom used to make us blackberry dumplings...I usually only drool this bad in my sleep.

Heather(aka ::piggy::)my sister was the "horsey" one...still is.  She at one time had to "untrain" our pony from "doing like the cowboys"(take off while mounting) 'cuz I kept falling off...my talents lie elsewhere , I like to bake , been working on recipes for sugar free , whole grain goodies for diabetic hubby.

Thanks for the compliment, my family says I am too nice. ::MonkeyAngel::I can be mean if I try tho... ::MonkeyDevil::

Heather just want to say I hope your life gets back to normal ASAP

Our Blackberries were ripe in July and my sister made Jelly and I love it on icecream. At the end of July I bush hogged the bushes down and will probably keep them cut down...They grow wild and have wicked thorns.

I have 60 acres and don't grow anything because there are fruit and veggie stands everywhere . I get the benefits of homegrown without the work it entails. Also have peach and pear trees and they are treats for the donks. I tried watermelons but they didn't grow so have to buy for them for the guys.

I just have great respect for people that live your lifestyle. I have now let some of the pastures revert back to native plants and I scattered native wildflower seeds after talking to a local natural habitat group. Now I have deer, wild turkeys, quail, Bunnies and all sorts of critters and I love to look out and see deer, bunnies and donks all grazing together. Neighbours think I'm NUTS ::MonkeyHaHa::

I wish I were there. Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge or property to grow my own food, but I live in a sustainable farming mecca up here. A couple months ago I went to a farm dinner at Dog Mountain Farm. The meal was prepared with ingredients picked and (ahem) caught that day and served outdoors. It was wonderful.

Heather, are are you involved in any ecotourism at your farm? Do you supply any meat to "Bill the Butcher" in Washington State?

 ::piggy::    ::piggy::    ::piggy::

We had a Rosemont pork shoulder roast and homegrown red, white and blue potatoes for dinner tonight.
If I were single I'd marry myself. Dang I can cook ;)

I do not supply to Bill the Butcher, but if he comes to Oregon I will be knocking on his door. I think he is awesome.
I follow him on Facebook and he makes me hungry daily.

We don't do ecotourism at our farm at this point but we do have big plans for the farm someday.
But we take babysteps and hope people will support us in our endeavors to put more into the land than we take out.

In the meantime we eat REALLY well tee hee.

Last year we gave our  ::piggy:: wine pressings and they got  ::monkeywine2:: and did something like this  ::MonkeyCheer4::

Hi Heather-

We met on blinkoncrime.com, in fact at the time I intentionally misspelled your last name to keep the masses from deluge, lol.

I should have known, UBER smart researchers here and on BOC.

I have heard nothing but good things about you, and I know for a fact that YOU called LE and offered for them to search your property, which was very kind on your part. I do believe things will get back to normal for you.

One question- Have you ever met Terri Horman or Rudy Sanchez, the landscaper?

I have spoken to a few locals who have actually hired him on occasion, so I am of the opinion he is fairly well recognized.

Thanks in advance.

Yes you were my first stop hehe ;)
Thanks for trying...but with the amount of tweets out there it was inevitable that this would happen unfortunately.
I *think* we're good now, especially since posting my letter over at the other place and the Q&A here on SM.

I've never met Terri Horman or any member of their family that I know of. Until Kyron went missing I'd never even heard of her.

I do not think I've met Rudy Sanchez, but 3 years ago we did hire a group of random workers to do some blackberry clearing. So who knows really.
I'm finding that the Portland area is smaller than it seems...

Let me know if you have more questions.
Cheers,
Heather

I don't think that tweet is from me altho it could have been...and I don't have any way to go that far back in my timeline easily...

We weren't physically trading anything...

Since we have a big farm and about 10,000 sf of gardens, multiple small orchards and tons of animals we need lots of help!
Dede offered to cook for us, help preserve food, work on our farm etc in exchange for learning what and how we do it...

We could have used the help! Still could...but we're not ready to go down that path again so soon hehe!!

Hope that helps?

OH I remember...

We were trading goat meat from our farm for goat milk from another farm and then I was going to make goat cheese.
Dede was coming over to learn how to make cheese IF "I got my act together and made the trade" for the milk with my goat milk farmer friend.

Hi Heather, just checking on you, harvest is soon, just wondering
if farm/your life is back to the norm now
do you have produce stands/litlle farm markets, or do you wholesale
your produce, just wondering you said you had a big farm
my gram had about 140acres,only about 60 was used for animals and
veggie, the rest was wooded and house sit on 3.5, they did some timber too
my gram passed when i was 12,gramps when i was 8, it was hard work
but i did love to go for the 4 wks in summer, a great life learning experience
all kids should have the chance just once to work a farm
very eye opening, to see where the steak, corn, ect. comes from that you eat
and how many hrs a year it takes to get to the public/your own table
