snip for post of Tolerance:

I am looking forward to trying 5 Guys Burgers..............to date my favorite 'eating out place' is Garrett's at the Golf Shack.  I don't go much, tho, I feel so conspicuous eating out alone.  I mostly go when my sister and her hubby are here (Elgin residents).
I live just off Perryville rather near C V Mall...............no doubt we have passed somewhere..............
Saw your post about Osage..................sounds like you have a wonderful lifestyle!  Hubby and I had plans to retire in ST. George, UT.......................but LIFE HAPPENS WHILE WE ARE MAKING PLANS.
If I ever get to the point where I can sell our home I would love to find a nice small condo.............I am so exhausted from trying to keep our home up.
Hope you are enjoying the wonderful weather!
Do you spend winters at the Lake?

We are home right now...going to the lake soon for some R&R...
I am very familiar with the Perryville/CV Mall area...and Hubs and I were at Garrett's just a few weeks ago..we like it there too...
We are trying to sell our big home too...not much luck! lots of lookers but mostly gawkers it seems..there are too many forfeited homes out there that are really cheap..that is where the buyers seem to be going..We already bought our new smaller home and we are finishing off the lower level..no plans to move in yet until the big house sells..and who knows when that will be! but we are not going to give our house away..Hubs works way too hard to just let it go for nothing...we will hold out till the market gets better..

edited by me...probably too much info lol...

I didn't see it as too much info, at all!
I know I have seen signage for Aberdeen..................but not sure where!
I had my house on the market for 9 months.  2 offers, but the folks could not get financing.
I have decided to wait to see if things turn around.
I have reliable help for the lawn and a handyman I trust, so that is half the battle.
My sons' jobs have taken them out of Rockford but 2 are in IL.  They would help w/ anything I need but I don't ask...........I like for them not to worry about me and prefer they think I am doing just fine.  Most days I am.  The two in IL have Masters' degrees, but are much less handy than my son in Fla..........................who has no degree.   I find that amusing.  Fl. son can fix, build, and retro fit anything........... while the IL sons are wonderful, too, and willing, they mostly fix things by using the yellow pages.
I envy your retirement plans..........they sound wonderful.
I wish my Brian would have lived to see our dreams come true...............
Thank you for sharing!
All the best!

That is good that you have reliable help, my dad does also and his house is too big also since my mom passed away. It is so hard right now to sell a house, and today's economic news was not good for that. We had to sell a house with not much profit, and it isn't worth it at all. None of us are handy, I'm the most unhandy person in existence, and am doing good when I can work the tv switcher

aw Pat...I am sorry about your hubs...none of  us know what our futures are going to bring..we just have to live our lives everyday as they come and plan for a future that may or may not happen the way that we plan it I guess..sigh...how long has hubs been gone? do you belong to any support groups or is that anything that you would be interested in? too bad that your kids don't live close by you...Mine live in Rockton so I get to see them anytime that I want...do you have grand kids?
there are a few widows on here and I am guessing that they have had some dreams dashed too...it would be horrible to have your whole life change like that in a split second...my heart goes out to all of you...

LOS ANGELES -- Actor Martin Short's wife, Nancy Dolman, has died at the age of 58.

Short's wife of 30 years died Saturday morning at the couple's Pacific Palisades home, according to his manager, Martin Gurvitz.

Gurvitz did not provide a cause of death or any additional details.

Dolman had been battling cancer since 2007.

Short, best known for his comedic roles on "Saturday Night Live" and in the "Father of the Bride" franchise, married Dolman in 1980 after the pair met while working together in a production of "Godspell."

Pat..hubs and I are going to stay here in town with our smaller house..we are not moving to the Ozarks on any permanent basis..I would never leave my kids or grand kids...Hubs still works a lot too so we are not ready for retirement, retirement..although I haven't worked in about 6 yrs...he still hits it hard every day..I don't think that he would be good at retirement..he likes to be too busy all the time..not me..I am happy not doing much of anything although I am busier now than I was when I worked full time lol...

   Hi everyone

   WELCOME Tolerance

I have been busy getting the garden in, pooled drained and all that fun stuff.  Kids go back to school next week and woke up to a big 9degrees C this morning with frost warning for the weekend.  Anyone want some fresh potatoes?  Dig your own and you can take as much as you want.  Why I planted 150 hills again I have no idea right now.

Good Morning Everyone.  Had more rain last night ugggh enough already but today is beeeeeutiful at 77 no humidity ahhhhhh.  Fridge was warm this morning but the freezer is working fine Uggggggh, what next?  Other than that all is well.  I hope you are all having a good day.

morning...do you think that your fridge is going out? is it iced up by any chance?
it is 75 degrees today so far ...supposed to be cooler all this week than it has been..darn it...loves me some hot weather..
I didn't see any icing, it is a freezer on the bottom and not that old, 5 years maybe?  Grrrrr.  The hot weather is supposed to return for the weekend Cook

Oh no ~ on the fridge.   I once had a dishwasher that lasted 13.5 months....................so maddening!!  I hope you find it is something simple, did the temp control get bumped?  I tend to think appliances should be long term friends vs. sporadic visitors!!!
ARGHHH
Welcome to the club of appliances that go out way to soon, I'm the queen for that, have issues with the microwave and washer and dryer    They should be long term friends, but not in this house.
Pssst........ No Rose...............don't talk about your microwave, you are going to jinks yourself.
Or my dryer, so the gas man doesn't have to come and humor me again

Forgot about that one But better safe than sorry.
I'm still embarrassed, and my daughter still says to me, I can't believe you brought out that shirt from Walmart that caused the problem

A few bullets so you can have an idea of who and how I am:
62 yo
female
widowed after caring for my husband for 10 months
mom to 3 sons...........all grown
I actually have been widowed 2 times .............. (no need to begin an investigation, tho, it is horrible and sad, but not mysterious !!)
have a little shih tzu, PJ, ~ gives me a reason to get up and out of the house
sold auto fasteners for years...........was a true road warrior.... one of very few women in a truly male dominated arena.
retired
live in a way too big house that I can not afford to stay in yet can not sell in the current economy
My view on religion is fitting here:  I am a Monkee, in that I'M A BELIEVER, kinda Catholic Lite
I do some volunteer work at a home for disabled adults
I love SM forum!!
I look forward to getting to know you.
Pat (in Northern IL )
I love your dog PJ, it is true they are the best counselors ever, they have a way making one smile feel so good.

Thank you, MTC,
His favorite toy is that kitty cube he is in for the photo I use as my avatar.   He is a riot!  He rolls all over inside it, hides under it, and gets in it whenever it storms or there are fireworks.   Now if I could convince him to use a litter box.........................

How cute he is Tolerance. They sure help keep us sane don't they.  an angelic monkey

There, I finally figured out how to resize a clearer pic of PJ................
Lots to learn.............

I have a cold room and they get binned.  I take a lot to my Mom as well as she also has a cold room and then gives them out to all her senior friends (which she does not really want me to know about but I think is wonderful)

Last years potatoes lasted me till March and what a wonderful thing to not have to buy them when you know how they have been grown without chemicals.  The store bought ones just don't taste the same.

Well darn it there goes my potatoes, you will never get me on a ladder to pick them, unless you don't mind calling for the ambulance when I fall to the ground from fear of heights?

Day of daughter's 1/2 birthday party really was the last nice day.  It has gone downhill fast from there.  Watching the squirrels and hawks,  winter is going to hit early and hard for us.  Not expecting anything over 20C from this point on by looking at the long term forecast.
