Yes..she's my yorkie..we have two..and she doesnt have allergies, but my male does...he always has...he is especially sensitive to everything....mostly skin allergies..but he tends to cough after flea treatment and heart worm treatment....
we had another yorkie that went into anaphalactic shock due to a bee sting..seems the males are worse than the females....
My female has the most precious personality...and no allergies..
Do you have yorkies?

Doggies? I was always a cat person until I got an Italian Greyhound a couple of years ago. I love doggies, well, mine anyway. And the cats still make it interesting.

I'm pretty sure it will be. The judge decides. The media will want it, and I think Baez will too..he's trying to get famous off of this case. But so far he doesn't seem impressive as a lawyer. In fact he seems pretty bad with some of the statements he's made, and mistakes filing motions.

Mammy, thanks for asking.

My little guy is 3 years old. He's been potty trained for about 5 months now. He spent Saturday with his other grandma, who is an absolute idiot. She put him on her adult toilet, with no child seat and freakin' left him there alone!!!! Consequently, he fell into the toilet and it terrified him. She never told anyone. He got so terrified, he held it in when he had to go from then on. Now, he hasn't had a bowel movement since last Friday. He has a stool blockage and is in horrid discomfort. He has had every type of laxative imaginable as well as 1 enema.

My Daughter just called the pediatrician who now wants an abdominal Xray to rule out an obstruction. My personal opinion is, they will probably have to manually disimpact this poor baby. I'm just sick over this. If you could hear how pitiful he is, you would cry. I sure have.

Say a prayer please. I just don't want this to turn into something bigger.

How sad...  I sure will say a prayer.

I have an x dil that was stupid when my grson was 2 and almost died from apendicitis.

I hate to think that they will have to manually disimpact him.

I am Mammy but Pediatrics is not my area. I did geriatric and medical rehab.

I'm not, but have done lots of research as my hubby has been ill for a few yrs now.  He has HepC from a blood transfusion.  His condition is not good.

Let me know what you find out from the pediatrician.  I don't understand why people have to be so ignorant, especially when they have raised children of their own!

I will mammy and thank you. I'm so sorry about your hubby. I'll keep him in my prayers too. Think positive. There is a lot of advancement with HepC now.

Yes, he went through treatment and is a non responder.  He may get into another trial...hopefully.

The hubs nearly fainted when my doctor was giving us the information.  His face drained of color and I too lost a breath for a moment.  Then he regained his composure and screamed "Whoo hoo 2 football stars!" LOL  I think he might be hoping for boys..LOL  its just a hunch.

It's all over with my grandson. Thank God. I left at 9:30 this morning to go with my daughter and him to the pediatrician. We then had to take him for an abdominal Xray.  It showed severe impaction but no bowel obstruction. Took him home and had to do another enema. Dear Lord, it was like the flood gates opened! He is now cleaned out and feeling much better.

Sorry, I didn't see your post earlier.  Yes, I have 5 Yorkies -  2 males and 3 girls. My oldest is a 13yr old male.  All my dogs have the sweetest personalities.  I just love them like children. 

I had bought one of them for my mother and when my mother became very ill, we decided it would be best if I took care of Lady.  She was only 8 months old and she loved being at my house with my dogs and we would visit my mother all the time but she knew when it was time to come home!

Anyway, at the age of 3 she developed severe skin allergies.  I have done everything. Vet, after Vet, changed food, etc.  I finally took her to a Vet Dermatologist.  She tested
4 (4 being the highest) across the board.  She is allergic to every tree, weed, grass, etc., known to man. The vet couldn't believe it because I had been giving her benadryl and she thought it may interfer with the tests.

Thousands of dollars later, special shampoos, medicines, sprays, etc. she is not much better.  My heart breaks for her and I do not know what do.  At times, I feel like she is suffering and other times she is as playful as before.

I bought her from a reputable breeder to avoid these problems.  None of my others dogs have any allergies.  She was originally from MA and they moved to Florida to be near me.  Apparently, Florida has big problems with allergies because of the type of grass we have here and because of the moisture!

Do you have any suggestions?  What do you do for your little guy?  I feel so bad for her, at times she doesn't even want us to touch her!!  Other times, she doesn't want us to be her put down - which makes one my other girls very jealous. LOL  My girls are all pretty demanding.  My baby is a 3lb boy and he is just so so sweet. 

If you any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it!!

Hey MT..My vet told us  to do special food for allergies..but it sounds like you already did that!!
We do oatmeal baths..and no fragrances, etc....They can also give your baby a shot, just like they would us to curb her symptoms.
Also, my male is allergic to fleas...when he gets even ONE flea, he scrathces like no tomorrow...So, we use frontline....it seems to work the best..
His fur is also oily..so we use a degreaser on him when we have him groomed and that helps..
But, I just buy Aveeno oatmeal bath..its used for humans, but I use it on him...and i let the oatmeal soak into his skin, and then i rinse him really well...it helps him too..

I wish I could help more!!!!

Tried oatmeal, tried Aveena, now have a medicated shampoo from the vet!  The prednisone shots do not work on her, plus it makes her go to the bathroom non stop!


For your guy, they have a new flea pill out that lasts up to 30 days.  I believe it is called comfortis? sold by vets only.  It is not cheap but works great.  Frontline does not work on my dogs at all!!  I had to use advantage.  My vet told me to switch on and off.  Also, for the itch, Selsun Blue is great!  My vet told me about it and it does help.  Leave it on for 10 minutes and real real good.  Do nut use conditioner.  It is very drying so it may help with the oily hair too.

I wish her problem was fleas but no such luck.  She is my problem child! LOL
A while back, she blew out her knee.  We have no idea how she did it.  My vet said it like football knee and it can happened to any breed.  It was the toughest six week recovery.  No sleep at all!!

mytime, why not just keep her indoors?  I have miniature yorkies and they are all indoor dogs.  They only are allowed to go out on the deck.  The main reason for this is because we live in the country and there are a lot of predators around here that could nab any one of them at any time (fox, hawks, etc.)

Doing good KnayKnay!  Their Dad has been reading a LOT of parenting books and now has me listening to classical music while I blog at night.  Its funny.  He means well.  I have sent them your love!

I live in southeastern Tennessee, right on the border with Alabama and Georgia. The temperatures are still reaching into the 80s everyday (which is unusually warm for October), and my dogwood trees are starting to bloom.  ::MonkeyEek::

So you're a fan of the Tudor period as well? I've always been somewhat fascinated by Henry VIII, but after The Tudors came out on Showtime, it became somewhat of an obsession.  Most of my xmas presents last year were Henry related.  ::MonkeyHaHa::

Oh they are WONDERFUL and soooo well written! She is a master of character development and all were real page turners!!! I HIGHLY recommend these books and author!

I had a really good link to share with you, but apparently the girl no longer has her site up  ::MonkeyWaa::  It was an historical fiction site, where she would read a book and give a review.. all kinds of stories, about Henry VIII, Marie Antoinette, Jane Eyre, and so on. 


Actually, this is funny.. I was in the thrift store looking around in the book section, when I found "The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette" by Carolly Erickson.  It's fiction of course, but then I saw she had a book about one of Henry's wives: The Last Wife of Henry VIII: A Novel.  This was probably right in between the first and second season of The Tudors.  I then started reading some non-fiction by Alison Weir- if you like non-fiction, those are GREAT! They are big reads, but they actually read more like stories, IMO.  Very good!  I like reading all about court life. It's fascinating!

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh suburb will allow a pole dancing studio to open, ending a federal lawsuit that accused the town of violating the First Amendment rights of the owner.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed the suit in August on behalf of 30-year-old Stephanie Babines. She wanted to open the studio in Adams Township, but officials said no. The town argued it was a sexually oriented business.

Babines' classes include pole-dancing, power lap dance, strip tease and "SeXXXercise." Everyone has their clothes on during the training.

Muffy its actually very fun and a great way to burn calories.  I have been to several classes with my sister-in-law and its a blast.  We have classes at the fitness center at our country club, so its all these snooty women with boa's workin off the butt fat that lypo missed..LOL
Still its a lot of fun though and a killer work out.

The Caylee forum is not a place to bash fellow posters, make underlined comments towards other posters, or call someone out in such a rude fashion that they feel like never posting again.  Over the past week that has been all that I have seen scattered about each single page, to the point that I hate reading back now, not because of the O/T discussion but rather due to the negativity that sprouts in the words of some posters.  There are ways to kindly disagree and argue, and there are some posters on here who do not seem to know tact..and they just keep on and keep on pushing it. 

Caylee's thread is for Justice for Caylee.  I understand that O/T does occur, and that is tollerated to a point by the mods, heck I do it myself quite often because if I didnt laugh a little I might as well lock myself in my clothset and cry all day.  Emotions are strong on this case, and a lot of people read and watch this forum...what a bunch of idiots we look like turning and biting our own kind for having another perspective.

That is all..I am done.  Had to get that out other wise I might go off on someone out of rage and get the button.

'Long-Lost Relative' Scam Targets Central Floridians; Residents Warned

MARION COUNTY, Fla., -- A scam alert was issued over the weekend after scammers posing as long-lost relatives were able to steal money from Central Floridians.

Detectives said the thieves are pretending to be family relatives and asking for cash to get them or someone else out of a problem situation.

Usually, the bogus relatives claim they are in Canada and that money should be immediately wired to a location.

A Central Florida resident wired $2,000 in the latest reported incident of the scam.

A Casselberry family also lost money to the scam, police said. The family thought their grandson asked them for more than $4,000 so he could get out of jail in Canada.

Police said the grandson was actually at home in Oviedo.

Anyone with information concerning the scam is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.

Went on vacation in mid 80's. My Mom met a Dutchman who lived there when he was on a trip to the states. He helped me get a work permit and I moved down. I loved it there, met all kinds of interesting people and life long friends.

I just hope people understand I can't boycott Aruba, because then I don't get to see my friends. You know that bad things have happend in jamaica, but that doesn't make everyone bad. I believe Aruba has been taken over by foreigners and have changed it for the worse. Aruba, in it's day was such a great place. Everyone dressed up to go out at night. Doors were always open. Just a different place. I have walked, as a young woman, through the streets downtown to my car and never felt afraid.

I am sure no one would hold that against you....Aruba is not bad....it's the people in control....and we do feel badly for the 'regular people' in Aruba....the ones who are just going about daily living. Jamaica really got a bad rap for many years...some was well deserved...other wasn't and I think that is true of so many places...including some right here in the USA...when people were saying to me aren't you afraid to live and work in Jamaica I looked  them in the eye and said NO! Believe me I saw tourists do things in Jamaica that if they even thought about doing them in the USA would be jailed or beaten by mobs...yet they would come to Jamaica and do those things and expect it to be OK. I went places that tourists could never go...was welcomed and protected. I went all over and a couple times I go into areas that I really shouldn't have been...and strangely enough someone, a local, always seemed to help me out.....even if it just meant walking me out of an area I shouldn't have strayed into. Naw you don't even worry about it.

I just stepped over to this section to see what was what.  Anxiety disorders actually run in my family.  My sis and I are the ones most affected.  Years ago she was moderator for a forum.  I will check to see if it is still active, but it has helped so many with its honesty and information.

Nikkinurse was just catching up and saw your post. Shasta is correct anxiety disorder does tend to run in families. My daughter has it and my mother have it. My daughter seems to be much better with hers at this time and is not any medication. My mother tends to prefer 'tranquilizers'(she is 86) and she is not on those as they are habit forming and physically addicting.

I have 3 recommendations, but somehow feel you may have already tried them. #1 is cognitive therapy, reasoning through the situation. #2 deep breathing and relaxation training #3 SSRI's work wonders.

I know how tough it is when simple things are difficult, and most just don't understand.

Although I am quite new I have come to respect and very much look forward to Destiny's postings.  She is intelligent, well rounded and interesting.  I know Destiny will probably not see this but I am so very sorry to see her leave.  I had already felt as though she was someone who could have been my friend.  This is a great loss, IMO.

This thread has become very interesting to me. I am surprised at how many "newbies" have joined Scared Monkeys since I last visited. Why delete? You posted the truth Dolce. Some here do not like opinions that differ from their own. NO ONE...likes to be called a liar. Or have your statements in your  posts embellished to the point that they are making statements that weren't made. And even making comments about a poster identity (multipliable ones at that) even though they know nothing about that person.

Dolce...I think many posters here should read your post more than once to get the full meaning. Then maybe...just maybe, they'll think twice before making some rude and condescending remark about another monkey here.

Once upon a time, there was a board called "Scared Monkeys - A Civil Place to Chat."  That was in June 2005. I only recently noticed that Red took that banner down. I don't know why he did that but I can only conclude it was because he no longer wants this board to be a civil place to chat ... as evidenced by your post referring to rude posters.

I hope you change your mind.  I could tell by your posts that you have a genuine heart for people who are lost, lonely, hurting, missing or dealing with someone who is.  I know you are experiencing a lot of emotions with the passing of your dear mom/aunt.  I hope you know that I will miss you for more than just "your scoops", as I am sure many others will.  I wish you well and hope to see you again when things get better.

I think that the very situation in which we are all brought together causes all of our emotions to run high.  I admit that I sometimes am quick to anger at posters whom I think are only here to stir the pot.  It's interesting enough that when I see someone being confrontational, I usually look at their post history.  It is easy to tell who is here for different reasons.

There are some posters who just rub me the wrong way and I'm certain I do the same to others.  The board can sometimes appear cliquish but that's just like real life, IMO.  I'm not here to impress people with my knowledge, abilities, or social status.  I don't have insider information, know any of the players, or even live in Florida.  The only thing I do have is a heart for little children, a hatred of evil, and a hope that even if it is in some little, insignificant way, I can do something. 

I have donated to TES and will do so as often as I can.  I pray for justice, and I hold out hope.  In the meantime, I offer my ideas and suggestions as to why I agree with other posters, or why I do not.  Hopefully justice will come for Caylee Anthony in spite of all the odds against it.  Her own family being the biggest obstacles to justice is disgraceful.  I do hope they all are held accountable when all is said and done.

Klaas (and all the Mods) has one of the most difficult jobs I could imagine....especially as a volunteer!! Klaas made a judgement call...which BTW I feel was the right call...she was protecting a member's personal information that was posted by another member...(even though there was no malicious intent by posting the  website)...once the member gave permission that his/her website (which is loaded with personal information) was OK to post....Klass allowed the web address!  Good grief ...I think any of us would be more than grateful that Klaas has our privacy as a priority. I have seen people come and go....let their ego's get in the way of understanding..use SM as their personal forum....I hope that Destiny will think the entire situation over and continue to post on SM....but it is her choice. She will be missed....just as I miss many of the original monkeys who for what ever reason no longer post...  IMO EVERY person that comes to SM is an asset until/unless they prove themselves differently. no one poster is any more imporant than another.....some have talents that enhance their contribution...Klass and the other Mods do a terrific job of dealing with a multitude of personalities and egos...I admire all of them for their ability to be unbiased and make decisons based on logic and a sense of playing fair.... someone has to be the final decision maker and we all need to respect that position and that person...whether we agree or not...we still need to respect those decisions. JMO

I am in the process of doing that TODAY and I am in a mess...I have to decide NOW what to take to the Caribbean for Thanksgiving...CRAP...who can decide this far in advance?!?!?!?!  Sure as hell I will pack something away that I will want to take!!

The group we vacation with is thinking of Cancun end of Feb, beginning of March '09.  I am having the same thoughts and have not packed everything away, as yet.  I had had piles on the bed, and now they are in laundry baskets in another room.  I put some sweaters in drawers, and will tackle the project again, tomorrow, hopefully finding some things to donate, as well.  A few years ago, we visited friends in NH and she showed off a closet her DH made for her that held everything......sections for each season....I can dream about one here.   ::MonkeyRoll::

It is unfortunate to see a gifted monkey go.  I do not know all the circumstances surrounding the loss, nor is it my place to.  I have faith in our mods to keep each one of us safe on this blog especially in todays high tech world of fraud and theft. 
I hope that all monkeys remember that regardless of like or dislike of a fellow monkey or mod we are all here for a much greater purpose, today it is Natalee and Caylee for most of us, but tomorrow it will be someone elses child. 
For the most part we are all adults and I fully respect each and every monkey, and will continue to treat each one of you with the same respect that I wish to be treated.  I hope that everyone continues to post in search of justice for Natalee, Caylee, and every missing child.  Lord willing with enough people out there, including a blog of monkeys, we may one day be enough of a threat to cause a preditor to think twice before committing the act.

Oh that has to be maddening.  I wear the same style and cut of clothing year round, just throw on a sweater or light coat.  Then again it never gets below 67 here.

Ask yourself the last time you spent a little time on SM and Klaas wasn't here. In my considerable time over years here, I can tell you that I have witnessed Klaas create a virtual encyclopedia of facts and data bases on gut wrenching cases, archives of poster e-mail addys, avatars, whimsical buses, airplanes, and buses and all for one purpose. Those efforts are made so that the casual poster can jump in and have all of that available. Those efforts are made to make the SM experience easier and more accessable to those who come here. Those efforts are made to make this a place that is a good place to be. Those efforts are made on OUR behalf.

As far as any poster having a problem with Klaas, I would suggest looking closely in the mirror so that you can attempt to remove the log in your own eye. You'll see better to remove the splinter in other's.

We, DH and I and son and DIL are going to Jamaica...we lucked out and got a great deal at a new luxury resort....and we are so excited not only about the resort but about going to Jamaica....I lived and worked there for 10 years and we go back at least every other year...oh I would kill for a closet like that....although I must admit I don't have a lot of winter clothing....having only been back in MO for one year...last year was a bear for us...I lived in jeans and sweats....so I will have to get a couple sweaters this year...We have vacationed in Cancun several times....great snorkeling!! and yummy food!!

I am in a RUT! 

 I suddenly discovered I am fixing the same dinners over and over and over....and I have cookbooks galore!!  We try to eat healthy foods during the week so if we want to we can splurge a little on the weekends....and some weekends we splurge a lot ::MonkeyWink:: 

So tired of grilled or baked chicken or fish, salad, steamed veggies, pasta dishes....

So tonight we are having ham steaks, baked sweet taters and some green veggie ??????

He has his degree from Johnson and Whales Culinary University (he is a Chef by school) but does not do it in his profession now, he is a self made business owner.

He comes up with some pretty delicious mixes for dinner, and health conscious.

Oh sweet Nikki,you sure have your hands full right now.I don't know much about this but I do have a friend that has it.She went to the grocery store one day and was just shopping.She had her buggy full and suddenly out of the blue she got hot and sweaty and a real feeling of panic came over her.She left the buggy and went straight home.The doctor put her on Zoloft and it helped immensly.It took awhile before it did but now she is much better.She was even unable to drive because of it for a long time.I'm so sorry things are so hard for you now.I've got you and your daughter on my prayer list..(http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj310/Tot5658/calin.gif)

Hi everyone! I just wanted to take a second an give an update on my little cousins operation for the hole in his heart and the LTGA

His grandma sent me an email!! The surgery went very well. The doctors were able to close up the hole and last night he was taken off the ventilator..If all goes well he will be able to go home in a week!

I have not heard about his LTGA yet and how this affects is I sent her an email and I will let you all know when I hear back!!

Things are not going well for my family right now and this was wonderful news!

Glad to hear the surgery was a success! I am stupid...or it is too early...or maybe both... ::MonkeyConfused::what is LTGA!
