A new order gives Casey Anthony's attorneys final approval to review Texas EquuSearch volunteer records -- but with strict controls.

According to an agreement released on Tuesday, there are scripted questions the defense can ask volunteers to determine whether they searched in the area where Caylee Anthony's remains were later found.

The agreement also calls for Texas EquuSearch representatives to be present the entire time their records are searched.

That review is expected to take place early in October.

The new attorneys on Casey Anthony’s team were the top story today on noon broadcasts of WFTV-Ch. 9, WKMG-Ch. 6 and WESH-Ch. 2.

That probably won’t matter to one of the attorneys: Dorothy Clay Sims of Ocala revealed that she hasn’t owned a television for decades.

Will that be an advantage or disadvantage for an attorney in this high-profile case? Sims told reporters she wasn’t aware of the heavy coverage and compared their approach to her to “being stalked.” Will new eyes help? Or does she sound naive?

Sims, who will cross-examine medical experts, met the press at Jose Baez’s office. Death penalty expert Ann Finnell of Jacksonville, another team addition, wasn’t there.

“True to form for the defense, neither is publicity shy,” WFTV’s Kathi Belich said. “Both are working for free.”

Sims said she has little experience in criminal cases, but joined the Anthony case to be part of the cause, Belich said.

Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.


WKMG’s Tony Pipitone focused on how Sims has attacked junk science in previous cases. Pipitone theorized that Sims might go after the medical examiner’s opinion that Caylee Anthony died of homicide, although the cause of death is unknown.

“With five defense attorneys in place, Baez promises a vigorous defense,” Pipitone said.
Baez described the cause as getting justice for Caylee and Casey – ”because justice for Caylee is justice for Casey.”

Pipitone noted that five criminal defense attorneys are in place: Baez, Cheney Mason, Sims, Finnell and Linda Kenney Baden.

Charles Green of Orlando will take over Anthony’s defamation case.  Zenaida Gonzalez claims Anthony ruined her life by linking her to Caylee’s disappearance.

So JB's office leaked that Roy Black was joining the nightmare group just to stir people up!  Just can't trust those insiders sometimes can ya!

On TruTV is was stated that this will be done by phone call. If the person on the other end of the line answers yes to the question "were you involved in the Caylee search", they can then continue grilling them.  Of course TES attys will be present for these calls.   These poor people.

Besides free publicity....most likely to diminish the "junk science" at trial.    Just a thought.....  But shouldn't there be a Frye hearing before trial to determine if this (junk science....air sample, K-9, etc.) will be used at all?

Jose Baez I was asked why we held a press conference on the matter and the reason is we wanted to avoid any speculation on this issue, no one is leaving we are just adding to the team. Could very well be, my blood pressure is sky high just thinking of having six lawyers, there is no need for that on a DP case or any case, imo. Now if you are rich and want six lawyers go for it. And this cause business, there are many causes that some of these lawyers could act upon, I have several in mind and it would make more sense then defending Casey. Can you just imagine how excited Cindy must be with this

I don't know how to get a screen shot of the press conference, but it appears that Baez now has a Crest above his firm's name.  How pretentious can you get?  I don't remember it from the presser that he gave when they brought Casey in.  So is this new?   Boy, the selection of this must have taken some time away from his tolling the blogs, facebook updates and Geraldo birthday party duties.  He's certainly on top of the important things, isn't he?

You got me to thinking. I had not seen that crest before either. So I searched and came up with the image of the presser in Oct. 2008. I see they held the conference a little to the left of where the crest is. The arrows on each image show an identical focal point in the room. I wonder if the crest thingy is new (I suspect it is) but alas, I have no proof via pictures. Not for lack of trying though.
