So little Somer ran to the house and talked to a Kyle, and then I'm assuming she ran off from there, well maybe Kyle has some info that may be very valuable to the investigation. I thought George Vinson wasn't working on this house that he found other employment?  Somebody saw something, it sure is hard for me to believe differently, with so many people milling about. I guess from the house, maybe she went to the park?

Ryan Hughes was the reporter who spoke with "Kyle" via telephone. I surely wish he had followed up by asking where did Somer go after she greeted the workers.

Apparently, LE has spoken with Kyle though, according to Kyle.

George Vinson's brother said that George was at their mother's house Monday at the time of her disappearance.

Lots of this sounds fishy to me.

I have a feeling we may see an arrest this week, or as soon as evidence results come in.
Just wanted to say this sounds fishy to me too Brandi, what little kid especially a girl even notices a house being renovated and goes to tell the workers that are "doing a good job"?

Hey JSM!

Especially a little girl upset enough to run off from her siblings.
Exactly. As far as a guy named Kyle, could it be a last name like KYL (like that guy John Kyl)?

The reporter said the man said his name was, "Kyle."

Oh okay, but a lot of guys use their last names when speaking to other guys and I was just thinking of another spelling of Kyle, which would be Kyl (pronounced the same, but it is a last name) Sorry for the confusion.

If there was more than one vehicle at the house, a vehicle could have been
in the driveway so that anyone passing might have run into or had contact with Kyle. Unless she was in the house, how could she tell if a good job was being done or not ? Looks like this Kyle was into kiddie porn.

JM...I have to tell you when one of my granddaughters was 5, almost 6 she had to say hello to everyone, and she was in the house and ran out the front door to talk to the man that had the the "doggie poo pick up service" for their yard.  I walked out as she was telling him what a good job he did!  Children will often do the unexpected.

Fundraiser for Somer Thompson's Family
 Corinne Hautala     3 hrs ago

ORANGE PARK, FL -- Hundreds of people showed up to donate and offer support at a fundraiser for Somer Thompson's family at Orange Park's Town Hall.

Amanda Wendorff, who doesn't know the Thompson family, and some of her friends organized the event.

"I'm a mother of four children," she said. "We just had to find a way to embrace this and to be able to help this family in their time of tragedy."

Somer, 7, vanished Monday on her way home from school. Police found the first-grader's body Wednesday in a Georgia landfill; the manner and cause of death have not been released.

Wendorff says one phone call led to another and donations and volunteers just started to pour in. From balloons to items auctioned off at the fundraiser, Wendorff says everything was donated.

Some of those at the fundraiser said they couldn't help, but stopped by to show their support.

"We just want to support her family, so that she can stay home and be with her other children for a while and not have to worry about going to work," said Gale Miller.

A memorial has been arranged for Somer. CLICK HERE for more information on the plans.

First grader? I have seen First grader and Second grader in reference to Somer.

I think I have seen Second grader more, and I think she was in Second grade, right?

I know, I am being a stickler for details here.

you are right I have a little neighbor that is 3 that everytime I walk by he asks what is in my pockets, but that is because he knows me and I had candy one day. I created a monster because he is asking everyone that now, his dad has had to tell him he can only ask me what is in my pockets.

I just thought that a little girl wouldn't have said "good job" about a house renovation, especially like Brandi said, a girl that had just gotten into a fight with her sister.

NOTE:  I'm going to be moving Somer's thread over to the MP High Profile area above Caylee Anthony's thread so we can add more informatin and since her killer has not been found.

Also, FYI, in the MP high profile area I'm trying to group by state then put the ones where the child/person has not been located yet on top of that state group.  Just in case you guys were wondering.

Public viewing today for Somer Thompson

October 26, 2009 7:18 AM

Mourners will gather for a public viewing for Somer Thompson today, the 7-year-old North Florida girl murdered on her way home from school last week. Her funeral is tomorrow.

Neighbors in the town of Orange Park held a fundraiser for her family Sunday, where they collected more than $18,000 -- some of which will be used to help find the girl's killer.

Meanwhile, investigators said they are following more than 1,000 tips. Detectives said they've received more than 1,100 calls from people all over the country. But, so far, no one has come forward to say they saw the girl abducted or attacked.

Investigators also ruled out all 160 registered sex offenders who lived within a 5-mile radius of Somer's home.

Money raised for family of girl who was killed

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Investigators had more than a thousand tips but are still trying to figure out what happened when 7-year-old Somer Thompson disappeared on her walk home from school last week.

A fundraiser yesterday for Somer's family raised about $18,500 so her mother doesn't have to go back to work immediately. Somer's name and photo were everywhere at the carnival-like fundraiser, which was held in a tree-lined park in the town's center. The girl's body was found in a Georgia landfill Wednesday.

Rock Band Molly Hatchet Remembers Somer

Jonathan Feldmann     Created: 10/25/2009 10:26:37 PM    Updated: 10/25/2009 11:24:15 PM

ORANGE PARK, FL--- Ever since 7-year-old Somer Thompson disappeared, there has been an outpouring of support from members of the First Coast community. Hundreds of people showed up Sunday at Orange Park Town Hall for a fundraiser. Southern Rock band Molly Hatchet was among the faces.

Molly Hatchet is a Jacksonville-based band, who wanted to show their support of Somer.

They drove all night to remember the young girl. Part of that support included donating more than 40 memorabilia items for auction, including a personalized autographed guitar.

The guitar raised $1,000 for Somer's family.

Lead guitarist and band owner Bobby Ingram said he has never seen a community come together so well.

Ingram said, "I've seen something here I haven't seen anywhere else, and we travel all over the world. We've seen bonding and a brotherhood in this community. Everybody's helping each other."

Judy Norford purchased the guitar, but that's not all she's done for Somer's family. She also donated a puppy for silent auction, and gave a puppy to the family.

Norford said detectives told her that was the first time Somer's mother had stopped crying.

Justice for Somer Thompson: Predator May Have Killed Before

'America's Most Wanted' Host John Walsh Said Florida Community Has Reason to Be Fearful

The person who killed 7-year-old Somer Thompson may have preyed on children before, making the search for the second-grader's murderer that much more urgent, police say.

Clay County authorities say they are running frustratingly low on credible leads despite more than 1,000 tips about Somer's kidnapping and murder. But "America's Most Wanted" host John Walsh said county Sheriff Rick Beseler is "looking very hard at certain people.

"The sheriff and I both feel that it's a predator who has probably done it before," Walsh, who has been following Somer's case since she disappeared last week, told "Good Morning America" today.

He pointed to a string of four child disappearances in the Jacksonville area about 20 years ago that has never been solved.

"I would hate to think this is a serial child killer who has raised it's ugly head," Walsh said, noting that it's not unusual for such a predator to come out of "retirement."

Community Rallies Around Somer's Mom
7-Year-Old's Body Found In Georgia Landfill

POSTED: Monday, October 26, 2009
UPDATED: 8:13 am EDT October 26, 2009
[Somer Renee Thompson.]
Somer Renee Thompson.
ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Investigators have received more than 1,150 tips but still don't know who killed 7-year-old Somer Thompson after she disappeared while walking home from Grove Park Elementary School one week ago.
At First Baptist Church of Orange Park -- where a viewing for the first-grader will be held Monday afternoon and a memorial service on Tuesday -- Pastor Devid Tarkington centered his Sunday sermon on how people can find peace at times of unthinkable tragedy.

"Everyone's feeling the same things. They're feeling fear, they're feeling anger, they're feeling frustration. All of those things. And they're natural; they're real," Tarkington said. "And the message is: God is not scared by any of our emotions and He can handle that. And if he's the God of answers -- and He is the God of answers -- He can see us through these storms of life."

At a fundraiser on Sunday for Somer's family, children played in a bounce house as adults watched carefully. They vowed to find the girl's killer and raised more than $18,500 so her mother doesn't have to go back to work immediately, WJXT-TV reported.

Somer's name and photo were everywhere at the carnival-like fundraiser, which was held in a tree-lined park next to the government center at the corner of Kingsland Avenue and Blanding Boulevard -- only blocks from where the girl disappeared.

Somer disappeared during her walk home from school last Monday. Her body was found in a Georgia landfill two days later.

"I've been crying since day one," said Amanda Wendorff, a co-organizer of the fundraiser. "When it's a child, it just touches a community."

Wendorff, the wife of a Clay County sheriff's deputy, has four children of her own. She urged people at the carnival to be on the lookout for anyone suspicious -- underscoring the fear that is running deep in the community.

Throughout the weekend, more than 50 detectives from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies continued combing through tips.
So far, no one has come forward to say they saw the girl abducted or attacked. Investigators have ruled out all 161 registered sex offenders who lived within a 5-mile radius of Somer's home.

Thompson's mother, Diena Thompson, praised the hard work of investigators.

"These detectives -- excuse my language -- are busting their (expletive) to find it. Because it's an it," Diena Thompson said Saturday, referring to the killer of her daughter.

A public viewing and funeral are planned for Monday and Tuesday, but graveside services and the burial will be private.

Dozens of mourners and supporters have held nightly vigils outside the Thompsons' home. They have gathered around a huge makeshift memorial of Hannah Montana balloons, stuffed animals and candles that have burned so long that the wax has melted into the grass.

"I'm shocked that this could happen in this type of community," Somer's maternal great-grandmother, Marie Spires of New Richmond, Ohio, said Saturday. "And that no one would see or hear anything."

An autopsy has been completed and investigators know how Somer died, but authorities won't disclose their findings or any details about the body.

Spires said she doesn't know how the little girl died.

Family and friends described Somer as a friendly little girl who rode her scooter around the neighborhood.

"She never met a stranger. She was very friendly," said Robert O'Cain, a neighbor. "She was always looking for other kids to play with."

Tina Justyna said her daughter, 11, would often go to the library with Somer at school -- and the pair would look at books about kittens and puppies. Her daughter is devastated that Somer is gone, she said.

"I don't let her watch the news," Justyna said. "She lost one of the few friends she had."
