As much as I wanted this beautiful child found it hurts. This is just not right. This and Kyron are my first cases I've ever followed and didn't know how this would affect me. I need to shut my computer down and back away.

Our local media is also reporting that human remains have been found and are probably those of Zahra.  Such heartbreaking news even though we have all been wanting a resolution to her whereabouts.

Also being reported that Zahra’s mother Emily has arrived in Hickory with an Australian news crew. Her delay in going to the US was caused by waiting for her passport to be issued.  Not holding a passport already would mean Emily has never travelled outside Australia before and I think it is very astute of her to travel with a news crew which will afford her protection from the public and other news media, as well as smoothing all other details which can be daunting for a first time traveller such as connecting flights, shuttle travel and accommodation and so on.  At least there are no language difficulties to face.

I have been aghast to read some of the bashing of Emily and now also the involvement of the Aust news group that has been posted on other sites.  I am sure the monkeys will not contribute posts displaying such unkind feelings here.  It never fails to amaze me how many folk there are in the world who, according to their own words,  have lived such perfect lives and can now sit back and throw stones at others that have made less than stellar decisions in their respective lives.  None of us can truly say what we may or may not have done in any situation unless we have faced exactly the same trauma.  Walk a mile in my shoes - - goes the old saying.

I know there are many folk in the US that will show kindness and understanding to Emily and I  look forward to any reports that may be published here from the Aussie point of view and will link them here.

One of the things I have most admired about Scared Monkeys is that we are all free to express our opinions without fear of being excoriated or shushed,  sort of like our First Amendment rights under the US Constitution.  Certainly most people here who come into contact with Zahra's biological mother will be kind to her, as would I were I in that position.  Being kind to her, however, would not indicate my approval, which in any case, she doesn't need. I do not know the woman as you seem to indicate that you do. It appears that Zahra's life has been taken.  It is a great tragedy that this precious brave child had no one to protect her.

I'm watching NG and while she's not my favorite at least she's layed off critisizing Zahra's mother, Emily.

Not sure when tonight's transcript will be out, but early in the show she said many people are theorizing that Zahra's body was dismembered, her limbs put through the wood chipper, her torso buried in the larger hole and her head buried close by in the smaller hole, both found at the most recent search site. I think I'm going to be sick.

Now, officials will not confirm this, but those at the site are reporting that human remains have been found at that Dudley Shoals Road site. They say that a large hole was dug, 30 feet wide, 2-and- a-half feet deep. Evidence flags were put there. And now the evidence that on the record is saying could be extremely significant is going to the state bureau of investigation.

NANCY GRACE, HOST: Jean, explain to me what you know, when it happened, where it happened. It`s my understanding that police dug a big hole that`s about 10 feet by 4 to 6 feet, and then inside that hole, they found or dug another, smaller hole. And also, Jean, it`s our understanding from our sources that her body is not intact.

CASAREZ: That`s right, Nancy. You`re talking partial remains. In addition to that, the dirt that was found from that hole, that very large hole, it was taken from the scene. And this was all found yesterday, Nancy, close to midday. And that is corroborative, Nancy, with the no-fly zone that suddenly came about. No news helicopter could fly above that area, and that also corroborates with a medical examiner going to that scene .....

CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. -- Hickory police said Thursday evening the evidence they found in the Zahra Baker case is so significant, they're calling off the search for the missing 10-year-old girl.

Channel 9 Eyewitness News learned from sources that investigators found human remains on Wednesday when they searched in and near Gunpowder Creek off Dudley Shoals Road in Caldwell County.

Deputy Chief Clyde Deal wouldn't comment on what was found but said he will not send additional search teams to the area in the future.

Finding partial remains and calling off the search is weird to me...wouldn't they want to find all the remains since I'm sure it would help determine the cause of death?  Or perhaps they found enough

mariloo..at first I believed the dad for about the first day or so.... until I heard his 911 call and some other reasons...He is evil just like the SM...He is the one who used his employment's landscaping  equipment to dig that hole...when they dig a hole for planting trees, ever seen the hole digger that they use?? it is huge and goes right through the ground...all just my opinion..they are both the devil's spawn if you ask me..they deserve death...

I believed him at first too.  The 911 call clenched it for me.  Nobody, I don't care how dumb they are would be so nonchalant about their daughter missing.  OMG... it was like Oh hi.... by the way, my daughter is missing.  she's in puberty... you know how they are.... oh and they took her prosthetic leg as well....  I can't stand him!  He is like gum on my shoe... can't wait to scrape it off and throw it away.  This is tearing me up... just the thought of precious little Zahra in pieces and slung here and there....... GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
