Hey JNGA

I saw that post about the dream. I have been thinking about it, and not sure what to really think. I was looking for a video of Cobra "looking very serious & standing looking out towards a wooded area" I haven't found one yet, it's late will look again tomorrow. The SO I think they have checked where his monitor put him during the time, but not sure if they looked at AFTER.

Maven I wonder if that video could have been the one where TN leads cobra on a wild goose chase?  I Think I'll look at some cobra videos.

That's the first thing I thought of too. I even watched it again, but that place seemed out of the way, not like an area someone would pull over to stop and eat, well not an area this monkey would stop and eat anyway.

I wonder how long ago she had this dream. I generally don't give these kinds of things much thought, but right now it's all we've got, and if true that means Haleigh could still be alive.

I wonder if she could be referring to Ocala National Forest? Its close by and
I would imagine there would be picnic areas. This would be good news that Haleigh
is still alive if she is correct.

Actually, it would be counts as in all of the different charges. It makes a difference if the order pertains to all charges or part when it comes to appeals.

Stranger abductions of kids rare in Florida

By DEBORAH CIRCELLI
Staff Writer

DAYTONA BEACH -- Old photographs show the room where a 10-year-old girl was held captive for three days after being abducted on her way home from school.

She was confined to the wall by a cable cord around her leg, sexually assaulted and, at times, blindfolded, Terry Thomas, special agent for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, told a room full of law enforcement, child-welfare investigators and others Wednesday as part of a training session.

Thomas, who is the statewide coordinator for the crimes against children unit, vividly remembers the 2000 Gilchrist County case. It was one of the rare ones where the victim survived to answer his questions. Her captor, now serving time in prison, let her go at a Walmart in Gainesville.

Generally, in such child abductions, Thomas said, 44 percent are killed within less than an hour of being abducted, 74 percent within three hours, 91 percent within 24 hours and 99 percent within seven days.

"These are complicated, emotionally driven cases," said Thomas, who has been in law enforcement for 35 years. "We know on average what happens, but you can't give up hope."

The training, sponsored by the Children's Advocacy Center as part of Child Abuse Prevention Month, is timely, officials said. They point to the recent cases such as 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, who is still missing from Putnam County, and 2-year-old Caylee Anthony, whose mother was charged with murder after the child was found dead in a plastic bag in Orange County in December.

Statewide, about 52,000 children have been reported missing in the past year, according to FDLE officials. But Thomas said most are runaways or have been abducted by a parent. Strangers are responsible for less than one-half of 1 percent of the cases, he said.

One of the common threads, though, that's troubling in some cases, Thomas said, is the children didn't offer much resistance. He said children need to be taught to have a plan -- "scream, yell, do something."

In Volusia and Flagler counties, there are 11 reported missing children, according to the FDLE -- most are runaways, one is an abduction by a parent and two are cold cases from the 1980s.

Thomas said it may seem that Florida has a lot of cases , but he said considering the state's size and transient population, the numbers are in line with other large states.

To address the problem of abductions, he said, the state started the Child Abduction Response Team about five years ago. Teams are set up throughout the state made up of multiple agencies to work together when a child goes missing.

Sgt. Jamie Gogarty of the Ormond Beach Police Department, who is on the local Child Abduction Response Team, said a missing or abducted child case is one where "you don't go home and forget about it and then come back to work."

"It's something that is going to live with you," he said.

Maryann Barry, executive director of The Children's Advocacy Center, said stranger abductions are the worst of the worst, but it opens people's eyes to the larger picture of child abuse. She said her workers, who do examinations and help in the investigation of sexual and other child abuse, deal every day with "very difficult" cases of children being brutalized.
