Good morning Monkeys!  I have had nothing but computer problems for the last two days.  Finally I get back up (at least for now) and find 35 messages supposedly from members here.  Can I cut to the chase and ask if anybody has been posting about receiving many, many duplicate looking emails from monkeys (I have not opened any of them yet, and have my Norton Security and Firewalls in place).  If so, has there been any recommendations about how to handle, or do you think it is safe to open them?  They don't appear to have attachments (at least that I can see from the paperclip icon I would expect to see).

Can anyone make out what time it says they went to the pool area?

Also can anyone make out the last sentence, something about it being dead on Sunday nights?  Is Broughton saying that Natalee asked Joran this  or that Natalee asked a friend and they repeated what Joran had said?

I think it could be the latter, because Joran told Greta he made the "dead on Sundays" comment inside the bar:

Someone has apprently gotten a personal e-mail from someone here that was addressed to a "group." Someone in that group was not trustworthy and it got into the wrong hands. If there is no "attachment" they are probably safe -- but nw you must be very wary/vigilant of ANY message you get from any of these people. It is more of an annoyance than an actual danger.

Appeals, I didn't receive a ton of emails, as nobody has my email addy. I was hacked however. Tyler was too.

I spent most of the day yesterday cleaning things up. I was very upset too. I think I finally got it straightened out. I will tell you, nobody has my email but Red and Tom as far as I know. I think it happened from either someone figuring out my IP by looking at the count meter here (late at night when I was posting, not too hard for someone to figure out my IP if they really wanted to investigate and do harm), or I clicked on a link here.

The number to the left of the ":" has to be either a 9 or a 10, and I think I see two digits.

I was reading Sunfreak2's timeline and she says:

But I think that 9:30 time is wrong, the timestamp on the video shown on ABC shows Natalee at the table at 20:25 (8:25) and re-entering the casino at 20:58.

Something that is a little odd, on the ABC video isn't Natalee re-entering the casino thru the doors leading outside?  And in Laraine Watson's 302 she says she met Natalee between 9-10 coming out of the hotel lobby bathroom.  There was speculation that Natalee left the casino to use the bathroom, but why would she go outside and all the way to the lobby to do that when there is a bathroom much closer inside the casino building, by the exit leading to the pool?

Shizaru, I agree with you.  When I saw that video, went through what I could regards witness testimony, I was convinced either the time stamp on the video was wrong or all the witnesses were liars and I choose to believe the time stamp on the video was wrong.  I am not sure why it would be but then the HI is in Aruba.  Need I say more?

Could the MB kids have not changed their watches to Aruba time which is in a different time zone than Alabama?  Aruba is on the same time with Eastern USA when we change to EST from EDST, but Alabama is always an hour behind the East.

And we do not show IP addresses... the site meter is hit or miss... it doesn't show me when I am on there... but having said that...

it's a shame that these little punks can't get a date instead of wrecking havoc.... ya know??

The timestamp could be right and Natalee could have been captured entering/exiting only once, if she entered the casino with her group from the arcade side, then sometime after 8:25 she left the casino for some reason, and then re-entered thru the outside doors at 8:28.  

I don't think the 8:25 timestamp contradicts any witnesses except maybe Ruth McVay, I recall reading somewhere that she said they got to the casino at 9:30 or 10:00.

Morning, Monkeys. I've composed the following letter to send to Dr. Phil.  I'm posting it here first for comments, edits, and revisions before sending.  Here it is:


Dear Dr. Phil,
I’m writing to ask your help for Beth Twitty and Dave Holloway who deserve to recover their daughter and take her home.  You did two shows last year about Natalee Holloway, the beautiful teenager who disappeared in Aruba in May 2005 on a graduation trip and has never been found.  These shows exposed the widespread tragedy of human trafficking to your viewers, but, unfortunately, Natalee has not been found or returned to her parents.

It has been over a year since she disappeared, and many people have helped in this investigation besides you.  Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch (http://www.texasequusearch.org/) has conducted several searches on Aruba.  Tim and Natalee’s parents believe, from information learned in the past year, there is a very strong possibility she was killed, and her body put into a wire fish cage and dropped into the deep waters of the ocean 3 to 5 miles off the coast of Aruba.  Natalee’s father even found the boat he believes they used to transport his daughter, but the owners had sold their home and possessions and fled to Holland.  

Tim Miller and Texas Equusearch were scheduled to go back to Aruba on May 15, 2006, with special boats and side-scan sonar equipment capable of searching the waters up to 1000 feet deep.  They had made plane reservations, had reserved the equipment, and communicated with the Aruban Prosecutor to successfully execute the search.  This search would cost $150,000.  Regretfully, Tim learned on May 1, 2006 that the funding was not available, and he had to cancel the search.  He is still optimistic that they may conduct the search someday, and this is why I am writing to you.

I don't know BT, it's possible... but I just wanted to point that out :shock:   but it is complete and utter BS to think that Tom or Red would post IPs, collect them or anything like the refugees claim... hell. they don't have time... unlike the former mods that claim all of this crap, Tom and Red actually have jobs and real lives...  :shock:

SEVERAL QUESTIONS & THOUGHTS

1) Is the Monkey lounge secure?  Meaning can anyone read there or do they need a pssword to get there to read?  If it is not secire from the public, can we make that forum at least private?  Then we will have someplace where we can discuss sensitive issues that we don't want to share with the whole world.

2) TO TCUMOM - whoever you get your new virus software from should be able to help you remove all the Norton files. Just call their  tech dept as they will most likely want all those files removed before you install their software.  I know they helped me remove those pesky files from Norton & McAffee that remained after their programs were deleted.

3)  It was discussed a few days ago about the danger of the trip of the group of monkeys going to Aruba on their own.  I am glad that the trip has been cancelled by you for your own safety.  When you travel to any foreign country you travel at your own risk.  ALE would not have helped you had you gotten in any trouble there.  I would imagine that ALE would have found reasons to stop your activities of ametuer sleuthing saying you had no license to do so on their island.  If these officials are desperate to hide their secrets, they would stop at nothing.  Remember the falsified reports by the officer who killed the girl with his car?  Remember the falsified reports by ALE regarding statements in Natalee's case?  Remember ALE finding Pitbull's deathdue to cocaine overdose disregarding the mutilation, crucification & burning of his body? Remember how they drug drink on that island?  One could wake up (or not) in any kind of staged scenario.  I'm glad you have cancelled this trip.

Okay, I have been on an "advice" kick for Web Security (sorry  :oops: )!
Here's one more concerning browsers. The "darling" right now is Mozilla Firefox. Absolutely, a very good browser but a little "bare bones" and with a "learning curve" that may be a little daunting for some users.
Personally, I use a browser called "Maxthon" ( www.Maxthon.com ). While it is based on IE engine -- it is definitely "more secure" than Internet Explorer". For instance, it blocks "ActiveX" which is has been a security flaw for a long time. Like Firefox it uses "tabbed browsing" (once you experience this -- you will be amazed.) The difference is they come standard instead of as "plug-ins."
The new IE7 actually took many of the ideas and features from Maxthon and the security "experts" are actually saying that IE7 is actually AS secure as Firefox.  
Maxthon in my opinion is ideal for those who are "used" to IE but would like some added features and greater "security."

wreck, what is ActiveX?  I have gotten that pop up several times.

..last thing (I promise)! When you install "Maxthon" all of your "favorites" and IE settings automatically come with you.
The bottom line is that there are some very good tools and programs out there to help your computer to stay "clean"  -- however, the best defense is to you your head. Watch where you surf to, don't download ANYTHING that you don't know to be "safe," and never open any attachments in E-mail unless you were actually expecting it and you absolutely know and trust the sender.

ActiveX is technology from Microsoft that allowed sort of a "linking" between different applications. This "linking" however; led to people exploiting this "communication." (Kind of hard to explain -- I don't really understand myself!)

As far as ewido goes, apparently I had something nasty attached to that and had to delete everything ewido. Maybe got it from the site where I downloaded it, I don't know.

I also realized I had my firewall off on my computer. I didn't think I needed it since the router is firewalled. Apparently 2 firewalls are better than one!
Oh, and last but not least, I did my flush thingy with clean-up

FYI - I'm not saying Julia Renfro set up that email address only that the Boycott site is saying that.  I'm fairly certain Julia did NOT set it up.  I'm reasonably certain it was in the thread Medleyrelay set up for gathering kind words to pass on to Anita.  The email address is the main one for Freedom of Blog and thus the emails go to JR (not Julia Renfro) at FOB.

Damn.....so sorry. I have been using the internet long before Al Gore 'invented' it,  :wink: lol...so I know the rules. Sorry some of you are having so many probs. I run AVG (Grisoft.com) virus scan paid version, I run Sygate Personal Firewall, free version, I also have 'spywareblaster' version 3.5.1 and update it daily. I clean my cookies often and run daily clean up through internet properties daily. I also have Pop-up Cop loaded at all times. I run scan disk and defrag once per week---AT LEAST and I have never had an attack on my computer with all this loaded and running and I hope I never do. I am not saying it can't happen, because anything is possible....but since my time on the internet I have learned many different ways to protect myself. You can google any of these programs I have mentioned and get your own protection....some are free, some are not. If you have any questions, I will try to answer as best I can.

Use your Router as a good "inbound" hardware firewall. Use one (and only one) software firewall which will also block your computer "outbound." If you are on XP, turn OFF the built-in firewall if you are going to use an outside software firewall -- they will conflict and slow-down your computer.

I have thought a lot about the "back seat" conversation the 3 boys had. How do we even know that some of the conversation was left out/deleted? I wouldn't put it past the person who passed on the transcript (LE) to convenietly leave out some comments or words.

I also wear a Body Condom when I go out in public.....like in the Movie...Naked Gun ...LMAO!!  :lol:

Were you still here when I posted some of the actual code of my intrusion into My Personal Network section of my computer last night?  I asked Klaas to delete it as did not want to privide assistance to the wrong people.  Carnut being a coder FINALLY admitted that it was an attack as he has always just really not believed I had anything more than a virus.

But he still insists it was just random.  Can you tell by looking at code if it is a personal target or just a program generated one?  I did not post the beginning of it only the end so he did not see the method they chose to actually enter my computer.  I don't think virus software will stop it at all.

Long Overdue Hello to Everyone::trying very hard to read back, check out photos, check out warnings etc.,  I have not received any strange e-mails, but have a pretty heavy fortress of defense...thank you, #1 SonInLaw.  If I could, without getting into trouble, I would love to write to Anita and give her a piece of my mind; not that she would   not care, but I would feel better.   I am sure she still thinks he is her pure, innocent, snowflake 1st born, but.........maybe he HAS to stay out of the house when he is in ARUBA.  Or, maybe he is just playing the gigolo role and lets the women pay and take care of him.  Or as stated earlier, maybe parents do own a CONDO there.  They just seem to have so much available cash, it really makes me wonder why I cant budget as well as they do.

Have to admit that I, too, had that thought.  A tape is one thing but the transcription can be another. I believe that we've seen one translated from Papiamento, and one translated from Dutch.  Someone will correct me, I'm sure, if I've missed anything regarding what we've read.

Slightly OT/Verbal conversations from memory is another thing....my husband and I can hear the same story and when he repeats it, we (sons & I)laugh because he embellishes...maybe because his hearing is not so good, and he repeats what he thinks he has heard. :wink:

Where did you get the details posted from the incident?  Are they from a security program you have, or something from your startup/registry?  Just trying to expand my technical knowledge.

I agree...one can be stuck on one comment, and someone else state what they think it means convincingly, but it doesn't mean it is fact or accurate.

When I opened My Network Places and was shocked to find several computers there, I started opening files in that area and reading what they said in notepad.  Not doing anything, just reading to see what they said.

I also found a file from when my computer crashed big time in November that goes through my programs, types some code then Adios _______!
Put name of program in the blank like Outlook Express or any other program, Quicken, Money, Office, etc.

But this is where my problem is in My Network Places.  I have never had nor wanted a Network and now there are computers on it including one in the Netherlands.  The last part of the code I posted refers to a website in the NL that I have never been to before and it has a tech forum.  After what I posted it goes on to code about a "modality listening device" and embedded applet and lots about Java Script.

But in addition to the computer in the NL which is password protected and I can't get into it, there are three more in the U.S. one of which I can actually open and look at some of their personal photos!!  Not that I wanted to nor know this person.

This is just overwhelming for me and far, far beyond my technical skills.

I am supposed to phone my son at three o'clock for more correction information.  What a waste of time!  And if I work on it for very long periods of time, I start to get headache and all the stress symptoms as well.

Mr none is resting and I was reading which helps me not to feel so isolated when this illness is so confining. Thank you to all, hospice arrives on Monday so please know we will have great support with that. My mom is also my rock, she's coming for an extended stay and nothing is better than having mom when you most need her hugs and kisses.

Call-out to Anna, this would be what mr none/internet security consultant would tell you and all others.

* XP's built-in firewall is a great one. They also have a new beta product "windows defender" which is a free download at www.microsoft.com that he recommends.

* McAfee and Norton both have "security suites". With that you get hacker tracking, I happen to like McAfee best but they are really equal in protection. You can actually open up the panel/tab for "attempted intrusions" and find the IP of the attempted intruder. You can input that into www.arin.net and trace the IP. When I have been under attack from NL and Aruban IP's, I actually look up the information listed in the registry for that provider and CALL THEIR SECURITY personnel. Those phone numbers as well as their physical addresses are readily visible on their registry, so use them! You also in McAfee can click and report these hackers to www.hackers.org as well. So for peace of mind, be proactive and invest in the $80 a year for the whole suite.

* Also anyone wanting a copy of Spybot then send me an email and I'll be happy to email you a zipped copy. This is no longer free but I can provide you with a demo version, it is one of the few which cleans your registry effectively.

* Adaware is quite good as well. I have been using Spy Sweeper but Windows Defender takes the place of that quite well.

* thanks to wreck for your infomation on those new tools, I will have him review when he feels up to it and report back.

Ultimately please, please use these tools/downloads EVERY DAY. Think of it as brushing your teeth for your PC, it needs this maintenance proactively to keep you protected.

I downloaded Defender a couple days ago and I really like it.  :wink:

I have had Defender since my friend's company was involved in testing the BETA version.  I like it because you can set it to run a complete scan daily while you sleep.  It also helps pop-ups.... I just do not have them anymore.  I still run Ad=Aware about twice a month, as Defender does not get all the "non-threatenting" ads.  I have been very pleased.

I currently use Norton and might have the Security Suite will have to check but when I was crashed I was using Black Ice Defender and ISS firewall which are SUPPOSED to be superior.

I have Spyware Blaster and Spybot which I think is still free from the website and Spyware Bot (paid one) and AdAware in addition to the Windows Defender.

I think that's all of them but seems like one is missing maybe Spyware Doctor.  I run several of them daily then alternate and do the other ones the next day and it is NOT a virus that I have but rather some sort of implanted something and I think that whoever did this is making their own little network but in My Network Places.

There is even software installed for printers I do not have.  I don't meanit is available but it is actually installed and I think has been used through my computer to print things.  

I have thought about trying Panda for security but it is rather expensive but might be worth it.  Anything is better than this constantly having to check this and that and scanning all the time.  I scan more than I actually use my computer I do believe.

Also, as to who paid who for the pictures of him and his blond, there was a tourist who had taken a bunch of pictures, having been alerted by a relative who said something like "You can't believe who I just saw" and it turned out to be Joran and she grabbed her camera.  They were hugging and kissing.  It did not seem that Joran had granted permission for the pictures to be shown.

There are also mention of Joran's being with some of his friends, the way it was said, I speculated reporter wanted to say "Pimps".  I have not checked to see if they have a complete video up at the channel site or not.

I forgot to include a key point. Many hackers will ghost behind a fake ID, essentially like to use those for universities quite often, so even if an attempted intruder looks puzzling but "safe" or "ordinary".....report it if it has no business on your record or isn't a site you have visited.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words.  I will let you know if/when I send the letter.  I think writing to Bill Gates and anyone else known for their charitable work is a great idea.  I'll be happy to help craft sample letters for people to copy and paste and modify to make their own.  This often helps a letter writing campaign get off the ground if people have templates to follow.  

I don't know or care if Dr. Phil is allowed in Aruba.  The search that Tim Miller is proposing is 3-5 miles offshore.  Does that qualify as international waters?  I'm not sure.  From what I know of Aruba, I believe anyone with the right amount of money spent in the right places (in the Aruban opinion) is "allowed" on the island.  Tim did tell us he felt he had a positive relationship with the Prosecution, so it seems likely that Tim would be able to actually effect the search.  Does Aruba care where Equusearch gets its funding?  I doubt it.  They don't seem especially high-handed or ethical as to where anyone gets his/her funding.

Anna, I'm no expert, but when I've had computer problems, I generally reformat, reinstall windows and I'm off and running again.  I don't keep anything of value on my hard drive, but either burn it to CD or put it on a server that is backed up three times a day.  After a while, Windows goes screwy anyway (my techie term), and a good scrubbing and new installation is my best fix.  Also, beats spending all that time tracking down issues that are arcane and exclusive to windows os.

I hope the letter gets some attention and positive feedback, everything we can do to raise funds is worth a shot.  My question wasnt about whether Aruba cares, more or less does Dr Phil care, especially if he cant get anything out of it.

The letter is pretty good because it "asks for the order" -- that is, it tells Dr. Phil that you want $150,000 and you ask him to help you raise it.

The reasoning is somewhat weak because it offers two arguments instead of one. First, Dr. Phil should help because the Holloway family deserves it and, second, Dr. Phil should help because he said he would.

No one would challenge the first argument; it goes without saying; repeating the argument is almost patronizing to the reader.

The second argument is far more compelling and works better when it stands alone, without the backup argument. Dr. Phil should coninue to help with this case because he promised that he would do so.

I find the plan to be non-specific. I was sort of with you when you started talking about searching the ocean for a specific item dropped by a specific boat. You lost me altogether when you went vague -- searching three to five miles off the coast of Aruba. Do you mean to search a band three to five miles wide for the entire circumference of the island? How many square miles would that be? How could you do that for only $150,000?

The fact that Tim Miller wanted to go but couldn't is irrelevant. Everbody has ups and downs when tryingto raise money for a mission. So what?

I think, overall, that this fundraising effort would be more effective if you:

a) gave the mission a name;

b) gave back-up information about what exactly the mission intends to accomplish. Specifically, what area will TES search? Why? What information has come to the attention of the family that makes them believe in this?

c) promise or imply that the family supports this seach and will participate.

Dr. Phil and other media players will be more motivated to participate if there is something in it for them -- video coverage, interviews, or whatever.

(I agree with the poster who said Geraldo would like this. He does treasure hunts.)

Stylistically, your letter is well stated and gramatically correct. It could be trimmed down, a little. Most advertising and marketing writers try to keep each paragraph to no more than five lines, to make the letter look easy-to-read. (I realize that the margins and line counts you show here are not what will actually appear on paper.)

Also, most advertising and marketing writers try to open and close with the "call to action." What exactly do you want the recipient to do? What is the next step?

We drove through there Wednesday while returning from Branson. Luckily we made it home a few hours before your big storm. We love St. Louis. Almost all of it. Central West End, Soulard, Tower Grove, Layfayette Square area. Do you live in any of these areas?

I have always thought that natalee died because of the actions of these "3" but that they did not intend to pick up a girl and kill her.

I think Joran, and his cohorts have done this sort of thing before, slip a tourist a date rape drug,   assault her, then the girl has a foggy memory , but before you know it she is back on a plane home.

Robots, I do believe they gave her drugs without her knowing, but that's where the possibility of your theory ends.  They expected her to pass out.  They did not panic at her loss of consciousness, but expected that.  They took her to Joran's apartment.  They all raped her.  She most likely regained consciousness at some point because she was able to make at least one, maybe two, phone calls.  At that point, she could identify all of them, and they killed her.  That's it.  That's all there is.

Yes, I do.  I think if she had stayed out cold, they would have dropped her at the Marriott beach to come to consciousness and wander back down to the Holiday Inn several hours later.  She would have known she was assaulted and known who she left with, but she would not remember the assault and be discouraged from reporting it.  She would most likely have survived, wounded but alive.

I bring it up as ever since December or so, they have been painting a visual picture of Joran as being a virtual girl magnet...even girls licking his face at Christmas and kissing wherever and whenever they can....This is because his only defense is pretending that Natalee found him so hard to resist, that she wanted to go with him to "see his big house, etc"....If you will remember, the Dutch TV version had Natalee throwing herself at him in Carlos 'n Charlie's...The "her willing to go with him" is the thin thread which keeps him from being charged with kidnapping....a charge he and his father, etc. all know is justified and are fighting like heck to avoid. All we have seen lately are pictures of girls throwing themselves at Joran...thus creating this magnet persona...it's the "magnet personsa" defense.  This brings into question in anyone's mind, what exactly is so impossible to resist?  Then naturally we anaylize his looks for starters.

If a girl didn't know the story, she would think JVDS is quite plausible as a nice looking exchange student from the Netherlands. That would be Natalee last May.

Are you saying then that her death was premeditated after she became conscious as in cold blood? I wonder which among them is capable of that. That's murder Two.  I've always felt that the kidnapping & rape was premeditated, but that she died as the result of an accident, overdose or sudden unreigned rage.  That would make it manslaughter.

I have no idea if Aruban law differentitiates between mruder one, murder two, manslaughter one, and man two.  We do know they throw the book at them to see what will stick, tho.

SunFreak I agree with AZ's post.  and you are correct in saying that it was premeditated.  Remember one of the first charges they brought Paulus in for was premeditated murder.  Either she was hit with an object or strangled by Joran.  I believe Natalee messed up their plans for that evening when she fought back.  I also believe that Freddy might have helped.  The Aruban police also said this was a murder.

I know that one of the suspicions Pauus was arrested on was premeditated murder.  I guess I wan't as clear as I thought, but I'm trying to figure out what is meant here.  Are you saying that Joran might have deliberately strangled her to kill her or he might have lost his temper, started choking her, and then she was dead?

Personally, I don't see them kiling her in cold blood as in deliberately killing her to keep her from talking.  I lean more towards an accidental or unintentioned death.  However, her kidnap & rape was premeditated, and if she died for whatever reason during the commission of that crime, it is considered murder.  (Like during a robbery, if someone is killed, it is considered murder, even though the robbers may have had no intention to kill anyone.)

Whomever thought up the laptop was definitely not into ergonomics and whoever came up with cell phones gave no consideration whatsoever to visually impaired people, and I am not talking about totally blind people but just visually impaired.  I need a phone as big as a lap top so I can see the buttons well enough to know what I touched.
