I'm wondering if an assualt, or romantic evening--as the three amigos might refer to it---would be planned for the last evening of the tourists stay so that nothing could be reported since one would be departing from the island.  A tourist wouldn't have time to make a report and stay for an investigation if their plane was soon leaving.

when this is solved and the dust settles I hope someone in Aruban LE takes the time to check out what's going on at C&C. Just by digging through Joran's web postings I found several of his "friends" and their postings show a pattern of picking up women who visit Aruba and working through other guys to hook them up too.

sarah that is an excellent point.. it very well could be their modus-operandi... if the police are able to, prove that... holy crap.. that would be a concpricy to commit more than just murder...

The only explanation for the crackhouse comment that I can come up with right now is that he was being deliberately insulting--insinuating that the safe assumption for finding a young woman from America would be to look in a crackhouse.

I looked up the bar right after the story broke on and they had put up on their site a notice that they would be carding from now on and apologizing for the inconvenience.  it was a loose operation but not ulike those in Cancun and in Mexico along the US border where the kids go to party.  this is a business model, Aruba's business model.  American kids want to binge drink.  The Baptists won't let them do it at home so they go on high school trips to get it on.

Hey Vorpman...I'm in the wireless business on the technical side and I can tell you for the island of Aruba they would have somewhere on the order of 250+, most of the networks are GSM thus meaning that as a mobile makes a call and moves through the system the serving cells are logged by the switch while the call is active. The question is has LE contacted the service providers and tracked the calls of the 3 Amigo's? We already know from a previous poster that NH had a phone (GSM - intl roaming) and that activity could be tracked as well.

They just confirmed on MSNBC that the area they are now searching was NEVER searched before, how could that be possible. It has been 2 weeks.

Anyone wonder if the correct car was searched? One of the brothers was driving, why would they be driving a VDS vehicle? I've never heard that anyone confirmed this was the car driven that night.

Add that to women missing that we have never heard about because they are from ohter countries and maybe you have enough? Bums me out!  MS-NBC showed this kid "dangling" the womens underwear, a piece of black electrical tape, and a condom wrapper between his fingers.  As he walked away with these items, I thought... "How stupid are these people?!"  Rightly or wrongly, there is a little thing called "chain of custody".  

What if that's really eveidence?  The place crawling with police, and they let this kid handle, much less walk away with this stuff?

I don't blame her friends.  Knowing how much this story has touched me, I cannot image what her friends are going through.  I just want to stress how important it is to look out for your own.

There is one aspect of what we do  know that I am having trouble reconciling.   That is, that there are 30 FBI agents on the island, for one girl.

IMO, it doesn't really matter if these guys are goodlooking,  seem have a lot going for them, or what their social status is.

I had originally thought it was just a simple murder until the abundance of FBI on the island just didn't set well with me. I have a theory but just need more info.

Am I the only one who relates to this case? I have been glued to the television and the internet hoping that maybe  the unimaginable would happen and they would find her alive.  When I first started watching this story with my husband, he wondered why she would leave with people she didn't know. My immediate answer was that she is 18 and when you're 18 you don't think anything bad could happen to you.I feel for her because I can almost imagine her naive trust.....she was having fun, no thoughts of sex or being violated, much less being killed....this whole case hurts my heart!!!

Cross-border violence, kidnapping, smuggling and drug trafficking occur frequently in areas along the 1,000-mile border between Venezuela and Colombia. Some kidnap victims have been released after ransom payments, while others have been murdered. In many cases, Colombian terrorists are suspected. Colombia 's National Liberation Army (ELN) have had a long history of kidnapping for ransom, and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) are active in the kidnapping trade. Common criminals are also increasingly involved in kidnappings, either dealing with victim's families directly or selling the victim to terrorist groups. In-country travel by U.S. Embassy employees, both official and private, within a 50-mile area along the entire Venezuela/Colombia border, is subject to strict limitations and is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

The State Department warns American citizens not to travel within a 50-mile area along the entire Venezuela/Colombia border. U.S. citizens who elect to visit areas along the border region with Colombia against this warning, apart from the Colombian terrorist threat, could encounter Venezuelan military-controlled areas and may be subject to search and arrest. The U.S. Embassy must approve in advance the official travel to Venezuela of all U.S. Government personnel. Private travel by U.S. military personnel to Venezuela requires advance approval by the U.S. Embassy. Non-military employees of the U.S. Government do not need Embassy approval for private travel.

The incidence of political demonstrations in Venezuela has decreased markedly since the referendum in August 2004. Nevertheless, travelers should be aware that violence, including exchanges of gunfire, has occurred at political demonstrations in the past. Demonstrations tend to occur at or near university campuses, business centers, and gathering places such as public squares and plazas. Most major tourist destinations, including coastal beach resorts and Margarita Island, are not generally affected by protest actions. However, the city of Merida, a major tourist destination in the Andes, has been the scene of frequent student demonstrations, some of them violent.

Sporadic incidents of harassment and intimidation of U.S. citizens by pro-government groups, Venezuelan airport authorities and some segments of the police have been reported over the past few years. Additionally, anti-American sentiment, expressed in graffiti, harsh political rhetoric, newspaper advertisements and rally pamphlets, exists in some segments of Venezuelan society.

Travelers should keep informed of local developments by following the local press, radio and television. Visitors should also consult their local hosts, including U.S. and Venezuelan business contacts, hotels, tour guides, and travel organizers. U.S. citizens traveling or residing in Venezuela are advised to take common-sense precautions and avoid large gatherings and demonstrations, no matter where they occur.

CancunMole, I know many good-looking sports stars in my graduating class that made great grades but did not do much of their own school work. Let alone adding into that a well-off family with connections.

Her friend told me that she didn't look ok. She said her eyes were heavy, and she asked Natalee if she was ok... and she said yeah. But was relatively quiet.

There have been convicted criminals (of the organized crime type) who are able to run their drug rings from prison because they have enough money to bribe the guards to let them use cell phones, prison phone.

I think there was once even a credit card number theft operation that was being run by guards and inmates in a prison here.

So the U.S. is probably no better in this regard.

Has anyone heard any quotes of "BOTH" bros?  I've heard from one but as I can tell, nothing from the other.  I'd like to know exactly how their two stories now match (or not).  
I still think all three a lying, trying to finger the other(s).  I still think they may all have committed a crime together, therefore, had the mutual motivatin at the start to try to cover up.  The "gang mentality" can be an irresistable out of control force leading to bad results.  The best way to know would be to know if the bros stories match as they finger Van Douche.

I watched The OReily Factor... my mom was supposed to go on, but she was glad that Jodi was able to instead... Jesse is a total sweetheart!  I met him and wasn't exactly cold, but standoffish because I am a little skeptical of the press, but he really represented us well and everything we had talked to him about (even mentioning how I was irked with the media for misrepresenting me!)

As I said, I've been lurking at this site, tripadvisor, and riehl world for two days.  I didn't have the courage to post unitl (I am not trying to be cruel here) people continued to post things attacking Natalee's character.  I quoted your mom (copied and pasted one of her posts) to prove that no one said Natalee was drunk or that she intended to take a "detour ride" with those three stooges.  I got so bleepin' angry at the posters trying to paint her as putting herself in a compromising position or asking why her friends didn't prevent her from going with Van Douche.    I opened a can of whoop-ass on 'em!
