More divorces in Aruba than Antilles   

WILLEMSTAD – Of all the divorces filed with the Joint Court last year, the majority were from Aruba; 616 versus 418 in Curacao .   

Bonaire and St. Maarten filed respectively 43 and 162 divorces.  The figures in the annual report show more varieties and peculiarities between the six islands.  “And it raises the necessary questions”, concluded the by-now former president Luis de Lannoy, who was succeeded last month by Lisbeth Hoefdraad, in the preface of the annual report.   “Compared with all couples in the Antilles together, more couples in Aruba get a divorce.  Would there be something wrong with the conjugal fidelity   and the wedded happiness in Aruba ?  And why are there in Bonaire more requests for custody placing (40) than in Curacao and Aruba (38 and 40)?  These islands have more inhabitants.  Does Bonaire have a problem with growing youth?”   

De Lannoy also indicated briefly the appearance of the Supervisory Council on the Bar.  Last year, as much as 102 of these cases were filed in Curacao, while Aruba filed only 12 and St. Maarten 55.  “Are the lawyers in Curacao much more wicked and do they make more mistakes than their Aruban learned friend”, wonders De Lannoy.  The necessary interested information can in any case be filtered from the figures and tables presented.  “It looks like sudoko.  I wish you much reading- and puzzle pleasure.”   

On all the islands last year, more suits were submitted than were handled.   The difference between these influx and efflux on the islands is in general not so big.  In Aruba for example, 2339 new criminal cases were entered in the procedure and 2282 trials were sentenced; in Curacao this was 1464 and 1613; in Bonaire 174 and 163; and in St. Maarten 1692 and 1662.  The figures for civil cases last year were 2925 versus 3053 in Aruba; 380 versus 292 in Bonaire; 3864 versus 2774 in Curacao ; and 1055 versus 768 in St. Maarten.  They have tried to calculate the average completion time by means of a random spot check of 10 percent of all the closed cases.  The results in civil procedures are 151 days in Bonaire, 56 days in Curacao , and 93 in St. Maarten.  In lawsuit procedures, these were 6 days in St. Maarten and 29 days in Aruba .  In tax cases, 617 days on all the islands.   

Since no one is talking this morning, I will share another O/T.  This is a sad, but well written glimpse at another side of this cyber age in which we now live.

Finally, after deleting everything except AOL and Windows, I got in the forum.  Uh oh, I think Word may have survived also!  Having no bookmarks, and having made a typo putting in scaredminkeys manually, I now get scaredminkeys.net everytime I type in sc.   :shock:  I don't know how to get rid of that.   :???:  But I'm in the forum, it looks great and so I brought a fruit basket.  Please leave something for Dugga and Red, ok?

Hoping somebody can help direct me to what my problem is.  Not Scared Monkey related, everything with the new boards is wonderful & I truly love the look & as I am on dial-up pages are loading more quickly which is a nice perk.

I have AOL dial-up & the windows only stay open but a few seconds & then disappear, I am only on the internet as a few weeks ago I had downloaded Mozilla firefox so that is how I am online but through AOL dial up.  Should I just uninstall AOL 9.0 optimized & reinstall it?  What could this be from.  It didn't start until Friday night just out of the blue, can't get into any of the services of AOL, preferences, favorites, news, nada.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Altruist, I think I'd call your AOL help line and they should be able to tell you what to do.

The fruit looks great. I will have a banana if you don't mind. Lil Puma you may need to go back into your Aol settings and delete history to stop that from happening. Why no bookmarks?

Angie I am so sorry about your Nerve problem. I had a nerve problem a few years ago. Right shoulder but it affected my whole arm. I could barely use my mouse even. My neurologist finally sent me to an Orthopedic surgeon and he gave me a cortisone shot in my shoulder. Hurt like hell but within 3 days I was back to almost normal.

Thank you Klaasend & Slogger for the help. No email came, unless it got eaten by the SpamGlutton that's set up although I don't know why it would have.

It seems the software automatically squares the avatars, so if it's someone rectangular it gets distored when squared.  If you resize it prior to uploading it it should be better.  Or if you save it as a .gif instead of a .jpg it may fit the size requirements.

Bumping this up from the first page.  I find it telling that the divorce rates are much higher in Aruba.

Altruist, Klass has probably answered by now because she is so fast. I think the problem is occuring because of the way your internet options and hompage are set up.

You need to go to start, control panel.
Once in control panel go to Internet options click on that.

Go to the connections tab and make sure AOL is listed as the network.

You may also have to do something in Mozilla not sure

You can clear your 'auto complete'...
start, settings, control panel, internet options. go to Content tab at the top and look for 'personal info' and or auto complete...clear forms..hope this makes sense.

Klaas, Red anything more about TES looking along the RR tracks. I took pictures... spooky area. Was thinking last night... there is another dissolute area just south of their where a side road runs between industrial buildings and where the RR was. Not much traffic. I used to have a dating friend that owned 1/2 block there across from the dirt part which was called the Jungle because it later was storage for plants for the film industry and then became a nursery.

There are several properties of just dirt west of the RR tracks that used to be car dealers and scheduled by Culver City to be redeveloped.

Then south of there is a small park dedicated to the Keystone Cops (I think) filming there and the street that runs along the real tracks there (Jefferson)  is a short cut to the inner city and is busy 24 hrs. This is where MTA wants to put in a Metro train from LA to Culver City.

Looks to me like Delilla and Oduber must have had a conversation or two prior to Oduber arriving back on Aruba on  6-9-2005 - 6-10-2005. Delilla would not just show up there unannounced and without a contract.

On the surface it looks like the case was going to be solved and the responsible parties charged until this Delilla got involved.

The dates all jive. Now who got these two together? That's the question.

Thanks... it's hard to tell who's on first and who's on second :D There was a Pauley family that, I think, used to own a network, maybe CBS. Don't know if it's the same family. I have a theory as to how this all happened.

It was a bunch of old guys with no idea how the media and internet had changed... and they got caught.. then they scrambled and had no way out and then left Aruba holding the bag when it didn't all work out they way it did in the past.

Then they needed a few books to put their lopsided slant on it all and confuse those that were still hanging on to the case.

They tried the 'consensual sex' angle until they found out that was gonna get someone convicted of rape and tighten the time-line on one suspect in particular.

Then they tried the self OD'd and buried herself multiple times.

Someone is pulling these strings away from Aruba.

Steve Cohen, special advisor to Aruba, came on the show hoping for a chance to talk to Beth about where the investigation stands today. Dr. Phil turns to Steve. "So, you're a paid consultant?" he asks.

"That's correct," Steve replies.

"And, who pays you?" Dr. Phil probes.

Contrary to what Minister Wever insinuated, Rainbow Warriors International is working in the general interest of Aruba and the rest of the world. This is what Milton Ponson declared last Tuesday night to DIARIO.

The word was that organizations from abroad with the contract of Bouldin an Lawson will be dealt with in House of Commons in Holland and that they will use country regulation publicity of governing board in Aruba and Law publicity of governing board in Holland to bring out ALL documents to the public.

Contrary to what Minister President Nel Oduber wants, giving only ‘for inspection’ document, our organization is of the opinion that the members of parliament of Aruba have every right to demand and obtain copies of ALL documents so that they can control the executive power.

Otherwise, it is then MEP and Minister President Nel Oduber and his cabinet that are rightly managing a banana republic and are giving all the American media who are supporting the boycott called by Governor Riley and Beth Twitty, good reason to call our country corrupt.

According to Ponson, their organization supports a conversation with Mr. Jaap Baujon, member of the Strategic Communication Task Force and offers their services free of charge to help disarm the boycott called against Aruba.

Mammana wants the "cowardly punks who hurt Natalee to know they still have me to contend with," he told the National Enquirer recently. Mammana was shown wearing brass knuckles and wielding a baseball bat, standing before a poster that read, "It's not about justice, it's about revenge," the Enquirer reports.

This isn't helping anything, says John Pauly, a veteran TV news producer who worked as a reporter in the 1980s at WCAU. He's the media adviser to the Aruban Strategic Task Force.

"Mammana's threats are just the latest stunt by a blowhard publicity hound," Pauly says. "If anyone took this guy seriously they would be over at the D.A.'s office discussing a terroristic-threat charge against him."

To think back and remember that professor John Roberts was the victim of the first newscast I ever produced at the then WFIL-TV. I'd been in TV about 6 weeks when the weekend producer, Pete Spear, got sick on a summer Saturday afternoon when all the real producers had disappeared (probably to the Jersey shore) and only I, the weekend assignment editor, was findable (since I was on duty).

I'd put together a 45 minute show for our 30 minute time slot, and killed two packages for every one that actually ran while were were on the air. But what a rush!

After the Philly trifecta from Channel 6 to Channel 3 to Channel 10, I headed west in the summer of 1990. I'd signed up for a new 20th Television strip called "Personalities," hosted by Charlie Rose. I learned a lot working with Charlie.

But when the Gulf War broke out and I was in the middle of a two-day edit on a pasteup entitled "Stars Who Appeared in Playboy" I had to ask myself, What are you doing with your life?

Shortly thereafter I went to work on an NBC/Kushner-Locke daytime strip called "Trial Watch," which folded after two cycles.

When the '92 LA Riots broke out, I was producing political coverage for KCBS. The news director, John Lipman, stopped me in the hall and said, "Anatomy of A Riot. Can you do it?" The result was an emmy winning special that scooped the LA Times on what really happened by three or four days.

Several months later, I got a phone call from my former and future boss, Steve Cohen. "We're launching a network for truckers. We're doing it from Washington. Do you want in?" Launch a network. You bet. It was supposed to be a DBS network direct to truckstops. Actually a pretty good idea. But the investors really only wanted to drive up the price of their penny stock. (TOXIC FINANCING - INSIDERS DUMPED THE OUTSTANDING SHARES ON UNSUSPECTING INVESTORS also known as a PUMP AND DUMP)

Just before it went completely belly up six months later, I was headed to Chicago to launch the Fox morning show there. I'm not a guy who should be getting up at 1:00 or 2:00 am, so after a year I headed for Atlanta to work on a show about racecar drivers called "Winners" for TNN. Six weeks into the gig, the host, driver Neil Bonnett, hit the wall in Daytona and was killed instantly. We finished the season with guest hosts and I went back to Chicago, where I got to produce a pilot for the "Danny!" (Bonaduce) talk show for Buena Vista Television. 1995.

Back to LA. That's where I am now, executive producer at KCOP-TV (UPN). We have an hour newscast nightly at 10:00. Our current anchor team is Alan Frio (formerly WCAU-TV) and Tawny Little (former Miss America). Next? You never know what's next. Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is a freight train determined to run you over. Sometimes it's a new and exciting opportunity you never thought of. But it's quite an adventure and it's still a rush!"

Something just occurred to me. Betico Croes founded the MEP in and was killed in a highly suspicious car wreck that could not be proven as foul play.

Betico was an Arubian political activist who was a proponent of Aruba's separation from the rest of the Netherlands Antilles. This eventually occurred, but Croes lapsed into a coma after an accident on 31 December 1985 (the night of status aparte) and was never conscious to see his accomplishment. He's called the father of the Arubian nation.

Gilberto Croes is not allowed to take part in the MEP Party by Nel Oduber and formed his own party.

ATA reacts on statement by Steve Cohen In Dr. Phil’s program

Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) wishes to clarify the following:

- Steve Cohen is not paid and has not been retained by ATA but by AHATA (Aruba Hotel &
Tourism Association);
- The Task Force supported Steve Cohen to be the spokes person for Aruba in only the
Natalee Holloway case. The Task Force and ATA have compiled the document “Natalee
Holloway Talking Points” to serve as a guide for everybody who talks to international media on
the subject;
- ATA and Minister Briesen are not in agreement with Steve Cohen’s statement where he gives
details on the case and says that the 3 suspects are guilty. This statement bu Cohen was not
discussed in the Task Force. A press conference was called last week in Puerto Rico, during CHA
(Caribbean Hotel Association) Marketplace, where ATA and Minister Briesen were surprised
by the same statement by Cohen. Immediately Minister Briesen and ATA Director Jansen
approached messrs. Cohen and Pesquera to emphasize that Cohen cannot make such statement
on behalf of the Government and/or Aruba. Specifically, Cohen was informed by Minister
Briesen and ATA Direct or Jansen that he cannot give details of the case and cannot speculate
on the guilt of the 3 suspects;
- However, a number of days before the Puerto Rico Conference Cohen had already participated
in the recording of Dr. Phil’s program, of which ATA had not knowledge, and unfortunately he
made the same statements in that show;
- Deviation of the contents of the above mentioned document on “Talking Points” was
not discussed in the Task Force. ATA maintains the strategic philosophy that Aruba must be
defended with the truth, facts and correct information.

It must be added that Cohen’s position, as any other spokes person in the passed ot in the
future, has many challenges. Cohen’s position as defender of Aruba is not a popular one at
the moment and we appreciate his willingness to do it. His presence at CHA had a positive
influence with the travel tour operators there.
Based on the recent developments ATA and Minister Briesen are doing some re-evaluations
to discussed internally.

SAD STORY. I was away for less than a week on a mini vacation in California & Miami, and while away from my island I was glued to Fox News & CNN attempting to make sense of the Natahlee Holloway tragedy. So sad. The story is atypical to Aruba. Fact, I have been living here for almost three decades and nothing like this ever happens here. We’ve wined and dined 4.5 million visitors over the past 10 years - the same number of visitors that came returned to their homes, plus tan and a few pounds overweight. Yet I know that difficult-to-explain disappearance stories are commonplace in big metropolitan areas – according to my Police sources 12 people are missing from Alabama alone, their whereabouts a mystery. Naturally the question comes to mind why doesn’t the press want to pick up that lead. Alabama, Aruba. What sounds more alluring, you judge. So sad. I am a mother and I went through turbulent teenage years with my son who matured since then to become a wonderful adult. He was a handful as a teen. Thank god kids grow and usually survive their learning experiences, unscratched. Anyway, as a member of the press, I pride myself of staying out of this story. I have no take. I have no clue as to what happened and I am unwilling to speculate. What I do know, to quote the commissionaire in charge of the investigation, that when you flash a spotlight on this island, islanders all want to stand under the light. That is the nature of a small, sleepy community where nothing exciting ever happens. So, when it finally does, every radio announcer and every press photographer instantly becomes a ‘leading investigator.’ Please count me out. I am grieving for our lost serenity and for the loss of my core belief that Aruba has a Teflon coating as far as safety and security. Watching the predatory type of fabricated gruel produced by the likes of Nancy Grace on CNN, I long to see Christiane Amanpour or Paula Zahn on the small screen. I realize that in the Grace-less case there is a mean streak: You think you are so special, and peaceful, and extraordinarily color blind and racial tension free, let me prove the opposite. You are just like us, nothing special, just quagmired in conflict and riddled with 21 century issues. Basically, CNN is a terrible disappointment to us country-bumpkins who used to believe in the network’s integrity, objectivity and fairness. OK, a bit left-oriented, and liberal, naturally, but other than that we thought it was above reproach. How foolish. They are there to just make a buck, score ratings. Of course he would, he wants this thing over as much as you and me. So how did this story become so big. Money as translated into political clout. Whose money, whose clout. Young Natalee’s father, most probably, he must be doing something important for Uncle Sam otherwise forget about it, the story would not have ballooned the way it did. Admittedly, it was a slow news week and Michael Jackson’s jury deliberated to no end, thus the army of press reporters picked up a story which sounded interesting, speckled with lovely promising elements coconut trees, slave trade, the cocaine cartel, yummy. It’s all BS. This is not a big story. It is small and terribly banal. It could have happened anywhere in the globe, in its center a teenager on vacation, having fun, letting her hair down and her guard. Making some bad judgment calls which got her in harm’s way. Did I already tell you how saddened I am for her, her family and the island which is being racked over the coals by a predatory media. They don’t get it, they don’t know it is our livelihood, our bread and butter. Airing their fiction from under artificial eye lashes they cannot perceive the damage that they might potentially be doing to our economy and to our future. This island is being victimized by the press from Geraldo to Good Morning America. Who will come to our rescue? Our repeat guests. I am confident that those good folks who have been vacationing here for years, will speak up on our behalf in their communities. And I promise from my chair, in front of my word processor to continue to do what I do – write entertaining articles for the paper - and I know that Aruba is committed to continue to do what it does best - providing a safe & fun famed tourist product. We will continue to do what we do and hope that our higher powers will sort the evidence out, shortly. Don’t cancel Carnival the coming weekend, don’t cancel the Dera Gai celebrations. It is heroic to go on living, to go with the flow and survive devastating lows. From Aruba’s perspective perhaps all publicity is good publicity since is raises the level of name recognition. That’s sort off my only consolation.

I think Steve Cohen is a contemptible lowlife.  And a man of dubious conscience.  But I think he's a pro, at the media game.

And I always thought he got lied to or double-crossed, that he was set up to look a fool.

Afternoon all.  The sad part in all this is Aruba would have had no other choice but to come clean and bring the 3 criminals to justice if there had not being willing Americans (in Aruba and here) who helped them cover this up.  Had these people not existed Aruba could not have pulled it off so good.  We have to thank our fellow citizens who played their role so well in this.  How do they live with themselves?

I think the picture on the front page is a good representation of Aruba - an island that is riddled with dead bodies, body parts, dead animals, etc.  It also shows that people who drown wash up on shore rather than disappearing as the ALE claims.  The picture acurratly depicts the shithole called Aruba and I am glad that Red posted it.  I am sure if friends or family complained about the photo, it would probably be removed.  Seems to be a pretty normal thing in Aruba to post pictures of their dead online and in newspapers.  Put the blame where it belongs - on Aruba not Scared Monkeys, SM is just exposing the fact and giving people a chance to voice their opinions about it.

My husband and I just got back from you lovely island. We had a great time at the Mill Inn. The people were very friendly and helpful all except the people from De Palma Tours. On arrival De Palma picked us up from the airport. A gentleman calling himself "Mr. Tips" got on the bus to give us tips on the island. He informed us that the only way to get to De Palm Island was taking a tour through De Palma Tours. We found out that there was a ferry to the island and even found free tickets. "Mr. Tips" also forgot to tell us that the stores were closed on Sundays so we had nothing to do on that very rainy Sunday.

De Palm Tours also picked us up at 12:30 even though our flight was for 4:30. We were told that it was a requirement by American Airlines to be there 3 hours before flight. We asked at the airport and found that this was not true. De Palma had to pick people up for an earlier flight and made us all go on the same bus.

We were very surprised to find no duty free shops in the airport nor was there any place to eat.

We had only one other major complaint about the island, your rods are not very well marked. There would be a sign for the Natural Bridge but when you came to a fork in the road there would not be a second sign telling you which way to go.

I follow your line of thinking and yes, you have them in Florida but I don't think what they will claim they were doing, looking out for Aruba's PR, would be illegal.  Would be very difficult to prove they crossed some line into illegality as PR is worked this way.

JMO and would sure like to get somebody involved in this, anybody, in a real court of justice in this country.

It's a conspiracy but not an illegal one.  They have to be conspiring to do something illegal and to be more aggressive as far as PR goes isn't illegal.

I don't think even PVDS meeting with Oduber would be illegal.  They would say just friends or Paulus had to see him about some urgent contracts or smooze it over some way or other.

I did a good bit of research about DiLella, but I failed to get the confirmation I hoped for.  So I dropped the story.  He was no doubt called in early to help manage the media blitz.  I think he made some very bad choices and only created bigger problems for all involved.

PlainView is a corporation registered in Florida to a very prominent real estated developer in Miami.  The registered office is only a couple sweets down from Louis Posner's registered Aruba Aloe of America.   You will not find many details regarding Plainview, Inc. other than the articles of incorporation which I have posted.   On the other hand you will find alot of information about the registered officer Pedro Martin and his co officers! MOISES and Cant recall SAIEH!  whom are known narco traffickers according to the US treasury department.   

In my search I also noted that the Dutch Consulate is located in the same building along with Plainview, Inc. and Aruba Aloe of America.  This seems like a likely setting for the Miami trip(s) by one Paulus Van Der Sloot.
