I think it could have happened the way this new witness says.

There is a grain of truth to every story and lie.  Suppose this witness did hear a woman scream no, no, no and someone yelled the "f" word.  I believe that part.  I also believe he might have seen somone wrap a woman's body in a blanket and take it out to sea.  But, maybe this witness is smart enough or been threatened not to tell all he saw.  Maybe he saw more than one man there, and maybe he saw a boat, too.  However, he won't say state this.  It's that odd way of telling only part of the facts and leaving out the rest of the details that someone doesn't want known.  Maybe the boat and the other people could be identified, but if the witness doesn't say they were there, then they are not identified.  Interesting, huh?

CBB, I agree with you.  The Hitler reference and slave references were only to tarnish the family's reputation.  That is not even an issue in that community and never has been.  That area is where most of Birmingham's Jewish population lives.  No one in that neighborhood would reference slaves other than in an academic manner.

Hat, do you find it credible that Joran would strip nearly naked at 3 am on the beach (after being at the casino and the bar and drinking and raping all night), and then swim far out to sea with a 110 pound weight (more if weighted down), and then swim back to shore?  Does this sound like the Joran we know who doesn't like to walk on the island but is driven by Deepak?  The Joran who spends his nights in casinos?  The Joran whose "sport" of choice is tennis?  Sorry, but this sort of swim would require a stamina and energy that this sporter doesn't usually exhibit and I doubt it happened at 3 am!

Although isn't it true that joran was on the swim team or something?  I mean somewhere I have heard that he is a strong, strong swimmer...

 I always thought she was put out in the water and there was a chance her body would be recovered. Pretty hard to believe someone would keep that secret so long though.

I just don't understand this. If the witness caused evidence to be produced, why hasn't anyone asked Beth to ID whatever it is that was supposedly Natalee's? If the condom is credible evidence, why hasn't anyone been arrested..............they arrest people all the time, why would they hold off now? If this guy is telling the truth, that answers why ALE is handling this so differently. It's taking them longer than usual to discredit him. Jossy talked to this guy first, so it makes it harder to "disappear" things.

I have the feeling that Koen's family is far more influential on the island than the PVDS family.  If Koen were there, and Koen's boat, that might be reason to leave that part out of the story.

I don't think Joran was at all drunk himself. He did not get to C'n C's until the last 30 minutes. He is young, in shape, and a large kid. I have no doubt at all he was physically/mentally able to swim that night. Throw in his adrenalin pumping to the max -- no problem at all.

AZLady, Yes I think Joran could get her out pretty far at that time of night after exerting himself all evening and fatigued. I am pretty sure of that.

What did Freddy drive?

If memory serves, Beth was asked to send identical clothing to Aruba for the enactment, or was it for the enactment?  She was asked to get a blouse identical to the one Natalee was wearing the night she disappeared, but I do not recall the actress wearing that blouse.  This does not mean that Beth identified the garment, but someone might have made the match.  Capiche.

With all the small boats available on that island, why would they swim her body out to sea?  That just seems very strange to me.

At 17 years old I could drink a half gallon of Red Mountain with friends, stay up 48 hours, go see Hendrix, walk the Sunset Strip and swim at Malibu that night.

Well, obviously the witness is a "nobody" as far as influence goes, so, if he really saw something, then they could kill 2 birds with one stone: take care of evidence backed eye witness, and offer up to the world full of tourists, a resolved case.

The point was that the fabric to be matched identically, they would need another top identical to match it, unless Beth identified it.  Beth said at that point in time, she WOULD NOT GO BACK TO ARUBA out of fear for her life.  If Beth was able to get a top like that, they would be able to match it without her return trip.

I suppose he could have met a friend with a boat a little way out in the water. Could have been as simple as just getting her out some short distance by himself though. The tennis club sighting always sounded like waiting for a rendezvous to me.

I think all my sons have pulled similar fetes in college.  In fact, I do recall one of them would stay out all night partying before a final, take a swim across the olympic pool at Tulane to wake himself up for that exam and actually "max" it, much to the chagrin of some of his peers, because grades were scaled, based on highest score.  I was told that by some of his friends.  French Quarter all night, swim in the pool, take exams.  He would never tell me that because he knows the lecture he would get, but friends often let little stories slip.

Klaas, exactly.  The light haired male was the witness' first story, and then he identified Joran.  Perhaps Koen's boat was launched from another spot and the body floated out to sea.

I caught that light-haired male story tonight.  One of the things that made me go "hmmmm...."  We are talking about two people, and yet we are not.

Remember that Jossy said the witness said he saw a light haired male.  These types of details are significant.

Yes. caught my attention.  I did not think that Joran was identified at all as being the one.  Just some one that was tall and light haired.  Then tonight Jossy said the witness recognized him as Joran.  That is why I asked all those dumb questions about who else resembles Joran and how close was this witness that he didn't do anything at the time but was close enough to see it was actually Joran and nobody else.  I guess I am not making any sense.  :roll:

Maybe it is all these hair colors that gave Dave pause.  Or is Dave keeping it close to the vest and playing the spoiler for a reason? I think I heard Dave was a special ops guy.  Don't they come pretty close to being able to conceal their feelings.

I really feel this witness is telling only part of what he saw.  He wants to take back the part about the light haired male because he saw him, but now, for some reason, doesn't want to admit to this part of the story.

Here's another look at Jaime's car.  I think it's black. Honestly, I think it would be more likely to be the VDS car though.

If the evidence produced through this witness is legit, then the details of what he saw at night are not as important as what that evidence shows and is able to confirm. 2 people seeing an accident will differ in the details, and both could be telling the truth as best as they remember. A piece of fabric and a condom would be indisputable.

If this "witness" led to the evidence mentioned it will be pretty easy to make conclusions about his story. If it was a half baked attempt to seek reward money it has kind of a weak ending. Maybe just some guy found a rubber and is taking a shot. A lot of unsophisticated people have little concept of DNA identification...there was some of that in the O.J. jury.

If this witness is in it for the cash, doesn't he have to ' produce " to collect ? Maybe that's what it is a production ( scam ). And there is coaching that happened .

For some reason, the prosecution is not moving on this witness' story, and so Jossy and the family are releasing it to the media now to try to head off what might be the inevitable cover up and loss of evidence.  I wonder if the witness has changed certain details of his original story as he told it to Jossy.  Maybe two months in jail has affected his "memory" of the events of that night.

Part of this witnesses story that bothers me, isn't any of the specific details, but the flavor in general doesn't ring exactly right, to me. He had a conversation with his wife....what, an argument? A steamy conversation? whatever it was, his response was to drive out past the lighthouse. OK, he and his wife had a history there? ok. It's 3:00 am, but ok. So, then he doesn't just park, he goes behind the bushes and parks. It's possible. It's weird, but it's possible.

Look at Joran's hair in this photo.  Looks like he highlighted it.  This was from about a year or so before Natalee, but he could have been highlighting his hair still.

You say the prosecution isn't moving, but it's KJ that is keeping him in jail.

This witness is an illegal Columbian.  Would he have been at this point on the island at 3 am for a more specific reason?  Like would he have been meeting a Coumbian boat carrying drugs?  Perhaps this fellow can only tell part of his story because he would implicate himself in some unsavory actions not related to Natalee or Joran.

What if said witness's wife called him and a woman answered, and he took that woman to a place where he and his wife had been before, a Lover's Lane, maybe?  but that is not being told on tv.

I was thinking of a tryst............but yeah, if this guy saw something, I really do think that something he is unwilling to come out with would make sense.

Yes, KJ is keeping him in jail, but she has not arrested anyone else, either.  And what is KJ questioning him about over the period of two months?  How many details is he remembering or not remembering?

I suppose this person may have witnessed part of a disposal process, say following an assault that took place somewhere else, after the assailant(s) waited near the tennis cub for an accomplice to get his boat into a specific area.

yes, Tyler, I just think there's some other reason he was behind the bushes in the wee hours of the morning. Everything else may be absolutely accurate, and , as I said, it's not impossible that he just parked there, but it's a little implausible, IMO.

Hat, I think this is closer to the whole truth.  The tennis club spotting was a rendezvous, for sure.  The witness told Jossy more than he is now telling the authorities, I think.  For some reason, Jossy is not comfortable with this, but does say the witness is credible.  I think the details of the story are changing to protect or exclude certain participants.

Either that or for his own safety.

Or, maybe the ALE just do not want certain details released until they have all the evidence tested and are ready to arrest.  Geez, do I sound naive here?

Klaas...............I'm not usually cynical, but this case has managed that response in me. I think the safety of the truth, in ALE custody for anyone who actually is attempting to tell anything relevent, is in dire jeopardy!

Well, I do believe we have a credible witness to the body disposal, but I don't think we have the whole story as Jossy and the ALE and probably Beth and Dave know it.  I hope this is to protect the integrity of the case and the prospect of imminent arrests.

If I recall correctly, we were all wondering why Greta did not follow up with certain questions.  I think she had been told by JohnQK prior to airing, that he would not answer certain questions and he gave her a list of what he would answer and had she delved into them any further, she would have gotten the verbal wrist slap, since he told her once on air that there were things he would not answer.  She probably framed her questions in a manner which he would respond but not tell more than he wanted to.

Jacobs is still at ALE, right? A credible witness being held this long in Aruba, is a scary thing, IMO. He may have gone in as credible, but there's a lot of folks who have their own a$$ to protect via what they've covered up, and the last thing they want is for the truth to come out now! Their reputations have already been tarnished and truth that nails the very suspects they've done so much to protect, is not good news for them.

If this guy were being held out of their reach, I'd feel a lot better.

How's this for creative?  Joran swims out to the deep ocean, Tarzan-like in his BVD's, and hauls the body behind him, cutting effortlessly through the waves like an Olympic champ.  He deftly avoids sharks and other sea creatures attracted by the body he drags behind him.  Nearly halfway to the coastline of Argentina, he judges the currents and winds and drops the body, properly weighted, so it sinks hundreds of feet to the ocean floor.  Smoothly, he turns and heads back towards the distant shoreline, his long, smooth strokes rhythmically slicing through the warm Caribbean waves.  The half moon shines a weak light on his glistening head and white arms as they move through the water, visible to the watcher hiding in the bushes.  Nothing disturbs the silence as he approaches the beach, wades onto the sand and shakes the salty drops from his body.  He strides to his car, opens the door and grabbing his clothing, towels his glistening torso with his discarded plaid shirt.  The job accomplished, Joran slides behind the driver's seat and slowly guides the car onto the road, heading for home.

Not to me, AZ. I originally thought his hair to be lighter than it actually is. Between how short he wears it and the bleaching by the sun, who knows? Also, a Columbian would be accustomed to very dark hair, and likely not many variations that are lighter (black, dark brown, medium, brown, light brown and then throw in whether it is golden, ash or chestnut).

Now, that is fiction.  Not very good fiction--but it is fiction.

Sorry, I'm on a soapbox right now. There are road signs that might inspire a little more confidence..................like Beth being asked to ID the fabric, or results of the DNA testing on a condom. Or, the FBI receiving a portion of the condom for their own testing. The absence of what would be expected, is very worrisome to me.

And, if a witness is being held in protective custody, do you really discuss that on TV?   If I were in protective custody, I would expect no mention would be made of my existance or whereabouts on major media news shows.  That is just not right.

What kind of weight would someone be carrying in their car?  A tire iron would not necessarily hold down a 110 pound body for very long, especially after the body started producing gases during the decomposing and putrefaction. Maybe he swam her out to the reef and wedged the weight into the coral to keep her underwater,  Didn't they say when he got back to the car he made a cell phone call? Called who?  Koen to get the boat to the boat ramp or Pappy Sloot to call Pappy G to borrow the boat.  Either way, they could go back to the reef retrieve the body and take her further out and drop her over the shelf of the ocian floor with heavier weights from the boat. Anchors? Sandbags? Weights from a barbell set?

Also wanted to point out that if they were to find her remains and he had strangled her, there would most likely be damage to the hyoid bone. If he snapped her neck, there would be cervical vertebral fractures.

Ewww...campus politics can be very, very ugly.  I've watched Presidents forced from office and it's not a pretty picture.  We had a nasty period of about three years when a group of dissenters in the faculty made life a living hell for a new President.  She eventually left, but the whole episode left our campus morale in shambles and lots of acrimony.  It still lingers, even three years later.  We are finally, just this fall, getting a new President and I hope to God her transition is smooth.

You know, it would make sense from the perp's point of view to float her body out far enough to then take out a boat, use an anchor or weights from the boat to weight her down and then let her fall to the ocean floor.  There would then be no evidence in the boat of a body having been there.

To a Columbian who most likely has black hair, a mid colored brown hair would be light colored.  Remeber its from this person's perspective whether he's tall & thin and has light hair.

The part I don't believe is that Joran did this completely alone.

Karin Janssen's approaching departure:

1)     1st reported on Fox by Tito Lacle as Karin Janssen's 3-4 year contract is expiring at the end of the year 2006 BUT due to her having earned vacation time she would be departing a few months earlier than the end of her contract.

2)     JQK stating that Karin Janssen denied to him that this report was true & that she would not be leaving early, within a week or two of Tito Lacle's report on Fox.

3)     Jossy Manseur reporting that Karin Janssen's replacement is on the island & that she is due to be leaving somewhere in the near future, of course, no STATED date.

Just like everything else, CHAOS.  Doesn't it sound like Tito made the announcement before KJ was aware, do you think this is possible?

Hello, it's late, and our day has not progressed as planned.  If there was a prayer thread, I would be there....We were to attend a wedding reception, but as God's will had it planned, our Dad had a faLl that brought him to the hospital on 6/24 approx 2:30pm...was admitted somewhere before 11pm.  He will be under observation for a day or so.  It also was said for us to have a plan for him at 89 yrs old...tough road ahead.  Please pray for guidance for us....my biggest concern this AM was the Line Up and when watching the rerun was talking to our son and missed the segment on Natlee anyway....God's will, I would guess.  

Will check in when time allows.  I know someone will see this and squeeze a pray in there for Dad and us to get through this time.

He came and told me the following story that he was home that night he had some kind of discussion with his wife over the phone his wife is in Columbia he is a Columbian illegal alien in Aruba and then he jumped into his car and went to a place where he used to go with his wife on the beach that’s way to the North of the Marriot and past the lighthouse and there he parked his car behind some bushes. He feel asleep and was awakened a while later by a woman screaming no no and the F word twice and then the voices ceased the voice of the lady screaming ceased. He got out of his car went into the bushes and saw this young man over the body of a woman. He was busy now opening the trunk of his car he was taking something out in which he wrapped this body in. He took the body and waded out into the ocean first and then swam with it dragging it along for quite some distance let go and then swam back. He put on his clothes again (Jossy said this is this man telling me now) put on his clothes and got into the car.

Kimberly – So there are only two people there, the woman he’s claiming to be Natalee Holloway what did he describe in term of the physical appearance of the male?

Jossy – The male he described to me as tall, white, light hair and afterwards he told me that it was Joran he recognized Joran from the video tapes that were on television and then the pictures in the paper and everything else. He didn’t recognize him that same night but he did recognize him from the days following his witnessing of this happened that he told me about.

Kimberly – Any description of the vehicle he saw?

Jossy – No because he claims that it was a dark vehicle. He didn’t know the time either because he didn’t have a watch with him. But his story seems to fit into the pattern of this case in many ways.

Kimberly – So you’ve talked to so many people in this case and in the investigation do you believe him and apparently there is a piece of evidence what is that piece of evidence.

Jossy – He says that there are two pieces of evidence but he didn’t tell me that when I interviewed him at the Diario in my office. I met with him the next day at the spot he took me to the exact spot we met there and he showed me where all this happened and he told me that when day broke a while later that he was there he found a condom on the floor picked it up took it away and a piece of cloth that he claims the mother could recognize this belonging to Natalee.

Kimberly – And it’s your understanding that these items have been turned over to authorities the prosecutor. Does she believe this story?

Jossy – I think she does believe this story to a certain extent yes. Because afterwards the police picked him up brought him in and about two months ago and have had him since. I don’t know whether it is in protective custody. I would believe that because if it was for deportation because he was illegal they would have done that immediately.

Beth – Well Kimberly we’ve had to sit on this information now for about two months so it a little frustrating as to as to why they’re still holding him if it’s for his protection or is it is fear that he will flee. You know we’re just really kind of ready to get some answers from KJ as to where she thinks we will move forward from now.

Kimberly – Do you tend to believe this story you’ve heard about this story? You’ve heard about this since April is that right you knew about it.

Beth – Right we’ve know about this for about the past two months and you know it’s hard me to step over the line of whether or not I believe him or not of course you know we just have never been able to interview him but what we’re getting from even KJ was conveying to John Kelly is she is inclined to believe that he is telling the truth.

Kimberly – Alright let’s bring in Dave. Dave you guys had a private investigator Art Wood go and actually meet with this individual. What did he tell you about him in terms of his credibility?

Dave – Well Art did not believe the individual and I think that some of that may be due to the fact that he did not speak English he’s a Spanish speaking guy. Art has some reservations as far as his credibility. The guy came forward seeking the reward we have a $250,000 reward out for information leading to where Natalee is so maybe he’s seeking the reward.

Kimberly – Sure but someone could come forward right Beth and have accurate information. I mean the reward is there to encourage people to do right thing. If they get the money I’m sure you guys would be happy to turn it over to them if you get the clue that you need.

Beth – Oh more than happy to Kimberly and what’s even more puzzling though to me is as to why they are detaining this Columbian witness I mean they’re bound to have come to some conclusion now as whether he is a credible witness.

Kimberly – What bothers me to both of you this has been going on for so long. April you guys were aware of it, KJ’s aware of it, now this guys in custody as a witness for a month. What does this tell you about the strength of the information?

Beth – Well I would be inclined to believe that they’re coming something that he is somewhat creditable and has information. Like I said I just don’t know why would you detain this individual as a witness for this long of period of time. I mean if he were really going to bring no bearing to the case in the past when we had someone come forward he’s gone before the judge of instruction and defense and prosecuting attorney to give sworn statements so we just don’t know where this is going with this one.

Kimberly – Dave I’ve got 15 seconds left here we’re heard that there is actual physical evidence perhaps some cloth and/or DNA evidence a condom used do you know anything about that? Do you expect that to get results.

Dave – Yes there is two pieces from what he understands. He understands there was a pipe or a piece of metal use to weight her down and I think the police have recovered that and from what he understands they are doing forensic evidence on it. The condom and all that kind of other stuff I don’t know where they stand on that or even if it’s been turned in.

After sleeping on this, a couple of things come to mind:

The witness is said to have two pieces of evidence.  Dave said one was something metal to weigh down a body.  The second is article of clothing or something the mother would recognize which I think to be the much discussed panties.

Then there is the frozen condom which was sent to his brother then retrieved.

How many do you count?  I count three and he is only supposed to be providing us with two.

Are there TWO witnesses being detained?  Or one witness with three pieces of evidence?  

Or are we just being jerked around yet again by ALE and KJ?   :shock:

Speaking of which, the gardener was out in search of air conditioning.  This forty year old construction worker was out in search of what?  Hiding in bushes?  I don't buy his reason for being there was a discussion with his wife via phone and he went there for romantic reasons?  Nonsense.

So what was he really doing there at that time of night?  Did he live like Booti in his car or on the beach?  Didn't he have to work the next day which would be Monday?  Did he often go there and hide to watch others?

Does it make sense to weigh down a body then try to swim with it?  Not ot me.  So AZLady must change her story to Joran swimming carrying a pipe clenched in his teeth to use only at the appropriate point?  Dave said something metal to be used as a weight.  I wonder if that part is accurate or just something he has been told.


Why hasn't Fecalruba asked Beth to identify this item belonging to Natalee in all this time?  Guess they are still going to show her, huh!

So Jossy tends to believe this guy and Art Woods doesn't.  I think he saw and is telling a small part of the night's events.  I tend to give him at least a little tiny bit of credibility.  But his story is evolving or so it seems and that is always a bad sign in Aruba.

I am...beat ya by 1/2 hour!

Jen woke me up before 5:30 for a sippy cup refill....woke up after a bad dream.  I am one of those people that cannot go back to bed no matter how hard I try.

I dunno what to make of the Colombian witness; I don't wanna judge him or make an opinion b/c I broke up my friendship with a Colombian person here (my husband's boss's wife).  Anyways, she lied not only to me but to another person and did not care if we dropped off her 5-year old son in her house home alone, five hours before they arrived from N. Dame.

Besides all the ruckus and bulliness that that kid put my boy through... :evil:

I have also come across Venezuelans to try and sway you from a planned evening and take you somewhere else-to rob and probably kill us.  That was my HS grad trip.  They told us there was a salsa show.  Good we double checked with the hotel front desk.  Basic common sense.  This was to me the biggest eye opener I ever had because that was my SECOND trip to the country.  First was with my family.   And I didn't think that things like that could ever happen.

Whenever someone else is to be replacing another one in the same position, I dread it.  Almost always the person is worse than the one before.  Politics anyone?  :wink:   Hope we are proven wrong in this case and that this person cracks this one up.

I've been reading and trying to stay caught up -- either nothing is happening or a something big is happening.

I hope these pictures don't reveal what many of us think we see. Since many of us see things differently -- maybe it's just illusion along with the strange shapes a plastic bag can take on.

I see a face in the middle picture as well -- only differently than what has been posted. Just reversed. Upside down.

I don't know how to make notes on the picture -- where you see chin, I see forehead and hairline.   I see eyes. I see the chin at the top where you all see a forehead.

I can agree that he witnessed the disposal part.  The assualt took place at the VDS home.  Now was this guy witnessing the rape of Natalee or did she come to before Joran planned to murder her because she got the call off from the VDS residence and he realized that they were all in trouble if she lived.

In my opinion no 17 year old rapes a girl and then hits her and conveniently walks to his car where he has some sort of blanket or tarp along with weights reading and waiting for him.  This was a plan (premeditated).

San...I agree...plus it would account for his first school story of hitting her head and drowning.  If the story is true, I can see him finally offering to take her to her hotel to get her into the car at his house and then taking her to the beach...or the scream could have been from another girl that was there.  Maybe she saw Paulus at the house and could ID him and threatened Joran with it....remember..he is head of the house....he would protect his dad....or they are buddies and his dad is in on the whole thing from the beginning.

I read this too.  Of course, MF is trying to paint him as a suspect....however...if I recall, lying as a witness is an issue, not lying as a suspect....so maybe someone got him a lawyer due to his "witness" information.

Yeah, I am back to my old theory.  In the beginning a few people thought it would be a simple problem to fix for and old friend that had a little clout.  They've probably done such things many times.  But, this case got on fire in the American media, because of a very perseverant Mother driven to find answers.

That fact caused the cover-up to snowball and become bigger than the crime.  Now, there seems to be no way out without capsizing a Caribbean island!

Absolutely! However, I think it is bigger than a simple "favor" for a friend. I think it was a conscious decision that a "simple missing person" case was going to be less damaging to their tourist reputation than a "murder case." I think that decision came from VERY high up in Aruba.
They had no idea that the "yokels" from Alabama would be so persistent.

I'm still convinced the rape happened at the VDS home and Paulus was involved.  Natalee became conscious at some point, got off a phone call, and Paulus told Joran to get rid of her.  He knew she could identify him and his son, and she would make trouble for them, so Joran could not just drop her off at the hotel or beach as he had "twenty or so times before."

Joran made arrangements with someone with a boat (Koen?) to meet him in deep water off the lighthouse point.  This was most likely the reason for the rendezvous at the Racquet Club and Paulus' ATM withdrawal--to meet and pay for the weights/boat.   He took Natalee to the lighthouse area, killed her and wrapped her body in something.  I think a boat met Joran out in the ocean carrying weights to attach to the body and sink it.  Joran could not have swum a body with weights attached to it out to deep water.  So, someone else and his boat are also involved.  Joran floated her out to sea, keeping an eye on the boat light in the distance.  When he got to the boat, they wrapped the body in the weights and let it sink.  

The Columbian was most likely at the lighthouse point to meet another boat, a drug runner.  That might be why he slept there in his car, waiting for his drug pickup.  Perhaps that is why he has a defense lawyer and is being held in jail for two months--they will press drug charges against him.  This man went to Jossy for the reward money.  If he needs money badly enough to risk the wrath of the VDS's and their accomplices, then he would not flinch at running a few drugs with his Columbian connections.  However, a witness who has felony drug charges lacks the credibility of a witness without drug charges, so is KJ in a pickle with what to do with him?  Interesting conundrum.

Hey, JerryinOhio!  I'm a buckeye, too, transplanted to AZ.  Did you know buckeyes grow and thrive in this desert heat?   :lol:   I grew up in Ashland and went to college in Akron.  My extended family is still there in Ashland and has been for many generations.

The significance of the tape taken in the casino showing Paulus sitting next to Natalee and talking to her seems more obvious now.  Paulus told Joran to drug one of the girls at the table and bring her home for some "fun."  I don't think it's the first time they did this, as Joran said in his Greta interview.  Usually, the girls are unconsious the whole time and don't remember what happened to them.  They are dropped off near their hotel and go home with no one the wiser.  

However, this time, Natalee didn't drink as much of her drink as they thought.  Remember, she didn't really like to drink alcohol, contrary to Deepak and Joran's statements.  I would guess she drank enough to render her unconscious until she came to after being raped at the PVDS home and got off a phone call.  Paulus knew she would remember him from sitting next to him at the casino, and told Joran to get rid of her permanently this time.  Had Natalee stayed in an unconscious state, she might have been dropped at the Marriott beach and found the next morning, as the others were.  Since she could identify them, she was taken to the lighthouse beach, hit in the head until unconscious (or dead), and then drowned at sea as I described in an earlier post.  

So many of these clues are beginning to fall into place now.

AZlady:  I agree with you and with Terry.  In the end, it's going to come down to the three "boys" and PVDS.  There may be a lot of other creeps involved but it starts with these four.  

I think the dark car could well have been the VDS car with Joran driving.  It certainly wouldn't be the first time he did something illegal or "against house rules".  And I would never buy that he doesn't know HOW to drive.  My daughter is 15 and has been behind the wheel since 14 (practicing in the subdivision).  

I'd feel better if the columbian were in protective custody somewhere else.  Anywhere else.

Peaches, the Columbian might be in "protective" custody, but I also think he is in custody for a crime he committed like drug running or something.  It's a catch-22, and they are holding him for another crime but perhaps he'll provide witness testimony in exchange for not being charged with the drug crimes or whatever else he did.

Remember Deepak's comment to Joran in the police car:  "Your own father!"  I think he was expressing disgust that Paulus would participate in the rape of Natalee and then tell his son to dispose of her permanently because she could identify him.  We've all said all along that Joran was protecting someone--that would be Paulus.

And, Joran's arrogance and confidence that he would get away with this stem from the fact that Paulus told him what to do.  He was following his Dad's requests and orders.  In his warped mind, Joran is both protecting his father and absolving himself of responsibility for doing anything wrong because he did what his Dad told him to do.  That is how he has the chutzpah to do those interviews on TV and thinks he is so believeable.  I wonder if the delays in arresting anyone stem from KJ putting together a case that includes Paulus as well as Joran.  Because of Paulus' knowledge of the system and previous coverups and preparation, that would be a more difficult case to present and have it succeed.  However, the father is as culpable as the son, and more so than the Kalpoes, in my opinion.

I wonder how much the “witness” embellished his story in an effort to get the reward money.  If he simply saw someone taking a body into the water, I don’t think any of us would have a problem believing him.  It’s the other details that make all of us scratch our heads.  It just doesn’t sound right and doesn’t fit into any of the other possible scenarios.

It's not uncommon in the US for the police to hold a witness to a crime under charges for a different crime.  The problem is that the witness loses credibility in court if it is revealed he or she is a felon.  So maybe they are considering whether or not to charge this witness with some other crime.  This is a reason to hold the witness, but it could backfire in court.

I am in agreement with what you are posting as the most likely scenario.
Natalee was NOT the big boozer she is portrayed to be and by Sunday night, especially if she started the day with a drink, I would suspect she was plenty tired of it and possibly close to nausea also.  

Been there done that.  Have also "pretended" to keep up with others drinking so they would not know I wasn't as into it as they were and not be considered a party pooper.  Have dumped many drinks into potted plants, down the toilet or sink.  While I have developed much more tolerance over the years and a taste for Scotch, I cannot until this day finish a beer.  Second half starts to gag me.  

BOC says it is because it is not cold enough and I must drink faster which I think is correct.   :D Natalee possibly drank only enough to knock her out and it wore off far more quickly than in the "twenty other times that nothing happened"!  I tend to think she regained her senses and had plenty to say to these punks and it was not about sharks!  Therefore, she had to go.  I am still not certain if only the four are involved or Joran had invited others to his little private party.  There is something wrong among that group evidenced by their flight from One Happy Fecalruba.

What is chilling to the bone is that if this witness is telling the truth is the cold and calculated manner in which Joran dispatched with his "problem" as it is nothing short of premeditated.  Where have we heard that word before??  Has this happened before with girls from South America whose disappearance we do not know about?  How could a seventeen year old do such a cold and calculated thing given his cushy upbringing?  Well, he did have a history of beating up on others and a rage problem.

Not sure.  I do know that Jossy was ready to dismiss the guy after the first meeting, but was urged by those in this country to continue the talks.  Apparently there was enough to his story that ALE sent divers into the water where the guy described the event taking place.  That says something.  What, I am not sure.

Could Dave have wanted Jossy to talk to the witness instead of Woods because of the language problem?  I would think Jossy could communicate so much better with him as I am sure Jossy speaks fluent Spanish.  Woods doesn't so how the heck would he know what the guy was saying?

Also since when did Fecalruba get so concerned about a few drugs coming   into their country?  Why would that be such an issue with this person when they are everywhere?  I could suggest that they check their Free Trade Zone if they want to find drugs and leave that out of the equation in regard to this one witness to a crime.  Their priorities never cease to amaze me.  Always skewed in favor of these suspects, too.

I listened to the replay and I guess Kimberly G did give Jossy quite a bit of time but she tries to control him too much by asking specific questions and wants him to just answer.

What I like about Dana is he will allow Jossy to speak more or less freely.  That works better for me.  I will miss having a discussion on tonight with him.  Maybe he will be back soon.

Just going to post something I just said on BFN. I know here we usually do not discuss 'how Beth looks', because it is irrelevant and anyone with a heart knows why she is in pain...but I felt I should bring my post here regardless.......I hope I do not offend anyone.

I have noticed in past weeks, months.....etc....on other boards (good and bad, nat support/nat hate sites) that many people talk about how Beth looks....
Damn it, how would you look if you had gone through all this!! Has anyone even considered she (Beth) may be under a Doc's care for all that has transpired. If, indeed she is, it would explain a lot. Prob. she is taking some much needed tranquilizers, etc. Am I the only one on any of these boards that think this??......Why is Beth's 'looks' even important!! MY GOD, look what the woman has been through!! Valium worked for me during times like this and people said I looked spazzed out, different.....weird, and acted the same in different settings.

I think the guy first told his story to Jossy after a third party put them together.  Jossy then asked Wood to sit in on the next interview.  Wood didn't think much of the story, or the witness and told him to take it to KJ.  Jossy kind of backed off after that and I am glad he did.  He was becoming too involved and was prepared to take some risk that could have caused problems for him.

I think Beth always looks nice and she comes across as a very sweet, caring person.  At times I fear she is too trusting in her effort to get answers, but that is understandable.  I think that cherished trait in her personality was also very prevalent in Natalee's character.  Unfortunately, it cost the sweetheart her life.

Frankly, I think Beth is beautiful.  Her behavior and her demeanor are admirable.  I do not see any inconsistencies considering the circumstances under which she is living.  She is a strong, beautiful, capable woman who deserves all of our admiration and support.

There hasn't been an opportunity for follow-up, but I'd really like to ask Jossy about the possibility of the enrtrance/exit security footage at the casino. The guy next to Nat, that looks like Paulus, had to come in and out, and I'd like to know what time that was, and mostly see a better image of him. That should nail it down as to whether that's Paulus or not. They have the footage of Nat and Joran, so why not this "Paulus look alike"?

I need to go to son's home today and help him with getting it ready to sell.  I'll be back, maybe not tonight, but tomorrow.  I do feel we will see a trial and resolution to this case, eventually.  It will happen and justice will prevail.  See ya, Monkeys.

I agree with you regarding Deepak's comment.  As bad of a person as Deepak is he sounded disgusted about Paulus when he made that comment.  We always talk about how sick of an individual Joran is when actually Paulus is just as sick.

I think she is too!! Inside and out! I only know if I had been through what she (and Dave/rest of family and close friends) has been through in the past 13 months......I would be in a padded room, somewhere, with peeps in white coats serving me a meal now and then. I am not considered a weak person, by any of my friends, but I sure am human.

I agree with that.  That is what I have always made of that comment.  "your own father, unbelievable."  Deepak might be bad but he cannot believe a "father," particularly one in position of law enforcement, would behave in such a manner.  "I do what my family tells me..." Joran's comment in that same conversation.  Yes, he is protecting his father.

I also remember Deepak when he told all about Nat' in his words being a slut.....acted like one, dressed like one, etc. We all heard that in the tape from Doc Phil, even IF that tape was messed with......that part was always the same. I still feel Deepak is not a total innocent in all this mess. People do not usually drag a victim down unless they are guilty of something or at least know something 'bad happened'.

CBB,  I am surprised we got any footage since Posner would own that  tape and I don't think we can count on his goodwill to produce one frame more of it.  Remember he was listed by ABC news as a friend of the vdSloot family until they quickly pulled that description.

That's a very good point, yapperz1.  She does seem to have footage that no one else has or has even seen.  One would be Natalee in the lobby of the HI post C&C which we know did not happen.  Another would be the one of Natalee supposedly in a Jewelry Store buying things with a strange man days later.  Again no one has seen that either at least no one that I know of.

I have wondered if perhaps she need glasses as evidently she thinks any blonde girl will do for Natalee.   I also believe she lied in one interview and even claimed the girl was wearing the same top when in fact she was not.  Perhaps there were plans for the identical outfit Beth supplied being used to fake a tape??  I have always thought that was what they had in mind asking for that and have since reconsidered given the FBI's enhancement abilities combined with the presistence of various bloggers.  JR does seem to float trial balloons to see what will be believed from time to time, at least that is the impression I get.  She does this apparently at the bidding of the ALE.

Would "your own father" direct his son to dispose of Natalee, do it himself, or have someone else to do it? I don't believe that Jvds was the one to dispose of Natalee. I believe he would have gotten as far away as possible from Natalee immediately after she died. JMO.

I also wonder about the "cloth", how did it get on the east side of the island, if Natalee was put into the ocean on the west? I can't get past that. Can someone help me with that? Evidence of her blouse tells me she was in that area.

My DH is not doing well right now, don't know what is going on. Losing all his strength, tired all the time. Dr. Monday said he can do what he wants. He is 8 weeks post op. Maybe depression is setting in. I don't know, but p;ease remember him in prayer. I thought by pass was to make you feel better, like he said "I was able to work the day before."

The question has been asked and no answers were given.  I don’t think there is any real law enforcement on that island.  Only those that seem to be in political opposition to the ruling party have to pay the consequences.  Everyone on the island seems to be content with that system as long as the money keeps rolling in, when that falters, we start to see a different side of that contentment.

A man of law not only allows his underage son to spend his free time in casinos and tourist bars, but joins him in that endeavor.  That alone should tell us something about the mindset of Aruban Law Enforcement.

A few years ago I spent a long weekend in this lazy little town in Louisiana that reeked with history and was nestled along a bend in the Mississippi River.  The owner and hostess of the B&B in which we stayed told us about the many things to see in the immediate area and then told us that on Sundays the little downtown are would be closed unless the horn on the riverboat blew three times.  Sure enough that Sunday morning the horn blew loud and clear and all the little shops flung open their doors.

The reason I mention that story, is because I think something similar happens on Aruba.  Word begins to spread quickly when a group of young tourists are on the island and the last night is the target night.  I think it is a pattern that has been repeated several times by the “sporters” on that island until one young jerk that thought he was above the law took it too damn far!

That male Prima Dona should be held accountable for buckling the knees of this island, but it want happen.  There are just too many skeletons in the closet, both figuratively and in reality.

Definitely.  It is probably a depression thing.   My dad fell into that following surgery for an abdominal aortic aneurysm a few years ago.  It eventually worked itself out.  Definitely something to discuss with the doctor.  Perhaps some anti-depressants would help get him over the hump in his recovery.

This is a fairly long post - sorry!


This Colombian witness and the water conditions at Arashi Beach raised questions in my mind as to whether Joran could perform the feat of taking a body and weights as far as the reef.
After reaching the reef, all he would have to do is get it over the reef  into the strong currents that would carry the body away, or weight it down there.

I have two problems with this:
    1.  Where would these currents carry the body?  Possibly back to the shore?  Or out to Panama?  
    2.  The Arashi Beach area is VERY popular for diving and snorkeling with good water clarity. If Natalee  were weighted down there the chance for discovery by divers/snorkelers appears  VERY likely.  Now I'm back to the need for a boat to move her to a remote area.

I did some searching and came up with the following interesting, informative entries from various sites re: snorkeling/diving Arashi Beach.

We went to this beach at the end of our Jeep 4x4 tour and absolutely loved it. This beach is a bit more secluded and less commercialized than the other popular beaches. Some shade is provided by the overhangs that they have on the beach (they resemble bus stops complete with benches). This beach does not have any facilities so you have to rough it a bit if you are going to spend a significant amount of time there. The water is gorgeous with some light-moderate waves (more on the light side). There was a sand bar about 20 ft out that everyone was standing on. The water is calm for the most part and clear. There are no chairs at this beach so you have to bring a towel or something to lay on. Such a peaceful way to spend part of the day!


                                   
There are two main areas to dive. As you stand facing the sea, the main reef is to your right, about 150 meters into the ocean. Look for a small white buoy floating in the water. This is the achor point for the boat trips, so it is a good pointer where to aim for when looking for the main reef. Be aware that the current can be very strong once you pass the reef.

On our visits there we saw a great variaty of tropical fish, including angel fish. The fish are often in large groups. We also saw 3 sea turtles, some octopus, crabs and crayfish. The water on the reef can vary from 15 feet in depth to less than one foot. she water is usually pretty clear, but can get a bit murky on very windy days. This reef was my personal favourite spot.

The second area at Arashi is just off to your left from the parking area, right by the beach. The best place is in the area in front of the house next to the parking area.
                                           

Arashi has a long strip of beautiful white sand and turquise water. The surf is rougher here than at Baby Beach, but still good for kids since it is shallow.

c l i c k again on the Arashi Beach area, a window pops up with a 360 degree tour of the area.  This gives a very good perspective of the beach and surrounding area - especially the parking area and houses on the left side of the beach as you face the sea.

Here are some of my thoughts based on the above entries and the pictures:

    1. It was possible for Joran to move Natalee's body to the reef given the shallow water depth, the presence of a sandbar 20 some feet from shore, relatively calm water.  It would help to know the proximity of the sandbar to the reef, how wide the reef is (this would have to be crossed to reach the strong currents), the direction of the currents.

    2.  Looking at the pictures of the parking area and the abundance of trees/bushes, it would appear this could be the area where the Colombian parked.  However, where is this parking area in relation to the rocks ?  

Anyone have any thoughts?  So many questions!  And I continue to also be very confused. Thanks!

Thank you, Nomad.  The description of the sandbar, etc. makes what the columbian said sound quite possible.  When I was in Cozumel I recall you could walk out pretty far before the water started to get deep.  Same thing on Cape Cod.  You can walk out quite a ways and only be in waist deep water depending on the tide.

It is just hard to watch and not be able to do anything about it.

An example, my DH has been building custom homes for over 30 yrs. Would never miss out on a contract, even take less money. Right before surgery we did a contract, had it signed and planned to start middle of July, well he called the people this week and ask them to find someone else, this is so unlike him, He loves to build beautiful homes for his clients. The people said "we want you to build it", so he moved the start date a couple weeks and said we are going on vacation. I was shocked. So we are going to get away for a couple weeks in July. I pray that he just needs some rest. He started back too soon, I drove him to all the job sites 2 days after he came home. So we will see.

Following my heart problems, the medical staff all told me that heart patients often go into a depression. It is fairly common . Well, I did go into a big downer, and I kept calling my brother, who had had his attack about a year before I did, and he kept saying, it will get better, I promise! It goes away. I just have an over-active imagination.  One of these days I do plan to write a book.  For some reason so many stories encircle my life it becomes difficult to focus on any single one.  As other web sites have said, I am becoming a wretched old man.  I look young for my years, but I fear I am dying within and each breath.

After I had my hysterectomy (sorry men) I was anxious for quite a while. Normal things like driving my car made me nervous. After the surgery they had a hard time getting me to come around from the anesthesia, and I had to be on oxygen for quite a while after I finally woke up, so I wondered if that had something to do with the anxiety. Surgery can do odd things to one's body.

I got ESPN Soccercastnet iPod/Media live streaming text commentary of the game on my computer.  Seems only a minute or two behind the action.

I know enough about soccer to know this is one BIG DEAL to the Dutch as they have a history of being successful so this has to be devastating to them.  Very big in the EU and Latin American countries, much like our playoffs or superbowl.

I second that!  Depression is a weird thing.  I only know that I feel better with medication than without it.  

Fishing is something I think would be more fun to do than to watch.  But I do love waterskiing.  Of course, I haven't been on waterskis in years but I still have pictures somewhere of me on a slalom ski in a bikini waving with one hand and holding onto the rope with the other.  We used to ski all day long.  By the time I dropped the rope sometimes my swimsuit was already dry!

A few twists and turns aside, it is obvious that Carlos has *something*. Despite what many are leading us to believe i do not think he is being held as a suspect. My daughter's sister in law is a cardiologist, prior to private practice she was on a heart transplant team in Salt Lake City. She said 6 months post op, her patients thank her. So I guess the 6 month mark is what we are looking for.

My DH doesn't say anything about the pain now, but was adamant that he would not do it again. He says things that I just can't understand because I haven't been in the situation.

He will be ok, Prayers have been answered. This is just a difficult time for him, I think having to do things differently is hard for him. We just take our health for granted some times. I am so proud of him for quitting smoking.

I did watch a bit of it in the neighbourhood bar with some of the neighbours. I have no clue about soccer, but I too was glad that the Netherlands lost ! ! Holland used to make me think of wooden shoes,

Easy, my Mum had a bypass and some of the medication made her feel down. Plus, she was very independent and when we had to do the housework and the cooking, etc, it left her with alot of time on her hands.
She used the spare time to brood and became very introspective and critical of herself. She had alot of talent that we could see as an artist.
She had done needlework and her job before she married my Dad was as a negative painter for a photographery shop.
We found a place that was offering art lessons, watercolors and acrylics. Paid for it, arranged the transportation and made a deal with her that if she went three weeks and hated it, she could quit.
She shone ! ! She looked so forward to these lessons and she did a few paintings that we still have. It did something for her that no amount of us talking to her did.  
You have a talent Easy and a beautiful soul. Everyone here has remarked on that. Maybe you need to do something like what my Mum did.?

When I read it, it brings to mind an earlier interview where I would swear Jossy mentioned something about  having Joran followed? It wouldn't be to far out to conceive of such a thing. His hair often looks like it's dark blond ~ that dark, dark, blond that looks like light brown...  At other times it appears darker...  mostly when he's inside.

I'm sure the color changes with the amount of sun exposure as well.  Or who knows, he may have dunked the top in bleach like in that pic posted earlier.  Doesn't matter.  The point is that the columbian picked him out.

Well, quite the list. I went to either the R site of the F site and someone said wanna see pix of my cats.. so I opened the link. About five very ill kittie kats. But in the background, you could see a very dirty slum kind of place... cat food cans on the floor, just an ugly mess. I felt some pity for that person and realized that people are sometimes in situations that we would not comprehend. Maybe a mental illness ? Whatever, but when I turn out he lites at nite, do I really care about what some absolute stranger thinks of Me? No.

Mrs. Red we're soaking in here!!!  Just did a walk through in the backyard and my feet are WET....Been raining the whole weekend.  Also fixing my cat's leg, almost broken.  Has a bandage from the vet bigger than her!!  She is in a dog crate and today was the crate's big cleanup.  She is hiding -again-in the basement, content to be away from the kids.

I'm not sure when the picture was taken.  That is Loco Stef with him and she looks about the same age as she did in March 2005.  I would guess within a year of Natalee.  The thing is, the first photos of Joran we saw after he was detained his head was shaved.

That pic makes me think he was using Scott Peterson's hairdresser.

There was a photo I recall of Paulus carrying all the family's luggage through the airport in the netherlands. He was totally struggling and no joran carried nothing. That pic was an epifany to me as far as understanding a bit of what I believe are the dynamics in that family. Joran exists as the golden boy, never gets his hands dirty, never sweats, never feels........

and did you ever notice in all the footage... that he pats his mom on the head like she is the child... he was is in complete control of his parents... it's very evident to me in the footage that we see ...

One day I just got out of bed and discovered that I don't get depressed much any more.  Also outgrew migraine headaches.  I get down once in a while but more like overwhelmed.  Not really depressed as I experienced it in the past.

So if that helps, sometimes, it just goes away all on its own.  Don't know why.  No meds involved as had already given up on those.  There one day, gone the next.   :wink:

Hello to all My Monkey Friends; seems a lot has been happening in our little domain in the past week or so.  The ghosts from cyber space??

I dont believe that Joran swam anybody anywhere.

Forgive me, but, could the Columbian have been smoking something?

I think most of this is another charade, smoke and mirrors and all that type of thing.

I still think we need to go back to the beginning and re-think, the comments and actions of the Senior VDS.  The sweat, the delay, the attitude.  

It is my belief that we are all putting too much emphasis on "how planned all of this was".  I dont believe any of it was planned after "something bad happened".  I think they all freaked out, including the senior VDS.  I still would love to know how, when where and why the Joran VDS and the Kalpoes became buddies.  How did all of that "just" happen.  I think N. was disposed of in the ocean, on the far side, near the caves.  It is my belief from watching fish in my local pond devour a small animal carcass in a matter of minutes that there will not be any part or parts of N., ever to be found.  The sea animals, and sand and water will have destroyed her after all of this time.  Sad as that is to say.  If we had competent investigators that picked up evidence, i.e. the green/blue cloth, that was thrown to the wind; perhaps things would be different.  
At this point, I am interested in all theories, mostly wanting the Kalpoes to talk......cannot believe that they have manintained their silence all of this time.  
I hope we all stay involved, one way or another in order to learn actions of the VDS family, the Kalpoes and any and all others who may have been a part of this sad, sad story.

Yes he did hang them out to dry.  But do they have it in his statement he gave to police that Satish was the one who picked him up.  On the Current Affair interview he doesn't say that Satish picked him up.  He said that because he knows the Kalpoes have something on him and he is trying to make them worry.  Of course that lie backfired on him big time because no one believes him.  He is protecting daddy.  Kalpoes don't need to say one peep.  They are the ones who have stuck to their story.

My kitty is doing very well, thank you. She is already the alpha cat over my 13 year old Romeo. I lost her three times in the apartment the other day.
