There's a place in Asheville called Grove Park Inn. That's only an hour for me and that's my favorite place for that kind of getaway, but it's expensive!!! Got to be really special for that, but it's great when I've been!

Both times were technically curfew.  First time I was pretty young barely 15 in fact I may have been 14.  Was out after 10.

2nd time I was 15, almost 16 and on my way to a graduation party.  I wasn't graduating yet but some of my friends were.  I was on a double date and we were all going.  When we drove up and went to park about a block away from the home the police arrested us.  I guess the party was pretty wild, LOL.  Anyway took us down and put us in the slammer for a few hours.

It was a dance thing, and Greta was in it, I believe.  Do you still have it, Klaas?

I snuck out of the house once, and Dad discovered it. There was an APB out on me for several hours! I wasn't arrested, I just came home to two police cars and MY DAD!!!   ::MonkeyShocked::

It was one of the original dancing ones and I had Greta and her team.  It was pretty funny but after I did it EVERYONE started doing it.  Greta did show it on the air though, LOL.

I have been following Haleighs story on SM for the last few days..
I still read Caylee's board too...

I havent posted much because I no longer have hi-speed, just slow dial-up..But I can deal with it because I found a site where in my state its 100% free with no time limits..

Things have not changed much here..My DH has worked sporatically though which is better than not at all...My youngest daughter turned 3---- 2 weeks ago, and I thought alot about Caylee....

I am trying to break my soda addiction, I quit cold turkey before for about a year then,I thought I could just have a soda every once in a while and that led to full blown addiction again.. Now I am trying so hard to do it again...Its been about 5 days and Ive lost 3 pounds! Which is a wonderful bonus...

Darla - glad you have her on the phone.  However, I feel strongly that someone needs to have a wellness check in person done on her.  I know with her IP addy (Klaas might have access to it???) or with a phone number the police (even your local police) should be able to assist and send an officer out to check on her.  This is very upsetting.

I just went thru this with someone on topix and I could not eat for 4 days I felt so bad and was so worried.. I had to call LE in her area because no one had her number,we just knew the town and state she lived in and her name.. Talk about awkward explain someone has told you over the internet they took a bunch of pills because they just want it to end.. It is scary,heart wrenching and takes a toll. I hope Wendi is ok.

gUYS IT IS SERIOUS...SHE HAS TAKEN 8-10 2MG ZANAX AND HAS NOT EATEN IN DAYS. HER HUSBAND WAS REALLY NICE AND DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON...HE THANKED ME PROFUSELY AND SAID HE WOULD CALL ME BACK. SHE WAS SOBBING SO MUCH I HAD A HARD TIME UNDERSTANDING HER. sHE IS SO SCARED OF HER mOM. SO SO SAD. I AM CRYING MY EYES OUT.JUST SAY A PRAYER FOR HER.

My heart aches to see her feel so badly. I do hope that she can overcome this obstacle in her life that is causing her so much inner pain. I am here for her so she knows there are many who care.

My hope on that is that instead of alienating her from you,it will help her to understand you as well as others here care about her.She will be in my prayers. You did do the right thing. I felt a lot of guilt for calling on the one I had to, but I had some great people help me see it was the right thing to do. Had I not called and she had died, that would have been on my hands/conscience because it was up to me to help her when she reached out. You DID do the right thing. I'm so grateful to God right now that I knew her neighborhood, because I know how to tell them how to get to her house, just not the exact street addy. I feel like maybe we were all put together for a reason tonight. Normally, I wouldn't be on here that much on the weekend, but for some reason I stayed. I spoke with her for hours the other night and she seems like such an incredible person, someone you'd love to have as a neighbor or great friend.

wait...please dont panic i know you are scared, but 20mg of xanax is not a fatal dose! it will put her to sleep for awhile, and all the faster if she hasnt eaten in days, but it is not a fatal dose. some people are perscribed 10mgs a day.

News Junkie - I didn't do anything, it was all IslandMonkey and Darla.  They both had her phone number which I believe has turned out to be a life saver.

I am ok guys....just shaken up. I told her husband what she had taken and I am sure they will take her to the hospital. Her husband seemed really kind and appreciative. She was planning on taking the rest of the pills. Sheis the same age as my daughter.

I know, but she said she only weighs 85 lbs. and hasn't eaten in days.  

I need to call it a night.  I'll say an extra prayer for Wendi tonight.

I remember reading about you and her talking about her city - you dated someone from there - knew her street, and I was thinking how cool is that?!?!  In the big bad world of the internet, you seemed to know exactly where she was.  I think the universe put you there in her life, to have that convo for a reason.

Island and the kind monkeys who stepped in to help her, you did the right thing.  I saw this happen in another group I belong to, and when the police got there, she was unconscious and needed to be rushed to hospital.  Without her internet friends, she could have died.  So, you all did the right thing.

Wendi, I will pray you get some much needed help, and please dont be so hard on yourself, you are a beautiful person.

Thank you and I agree,way better then a funeral. She does not talk to me anymore,but she is alive :) that is what counts. I am so glad that Wendi reached out tonight and that the right monkeys were there in her time of need! It took me a bit to find that persons home town so I am really really glad that 2 monkeys with Wendis phone number where here when she reached out for help. That was a blessing and saved precious time.

Actually I only had lunch with her neighbor once 15 yrs ago, but she lived jsut a few miles from where I lived until last March, I too love it when God puts you in the right place at the right time.

Heavenly Father, we are gathered here together in your name, asking for your help for Wendi.  We cannot know her exact situation, but we are comforted in the knowledge that you know all about it, and that your Word says that where two or more are gathered in your name, you will be there. 

We pray that Wendi will receive more than just the help she needs for whatever medication overdose there may have been tonight.  We pray that every need she has, every need of her heart and mind will be met, and that you will intervene so that no one will be allowed to be get in the way of her receiving the help she needs.

Father, we thank you for each of those who cared so much to reach out and help her across the miles.  May they rest peacefully in the knowledge that they took a big step of faith and did the right thing for someone who was so obviously hurting and crying out for help.

We thank you for your mercy and loving kindness, which is always just a prayer away.

O dear, my daughter called & then I lost track wondering where everyone went in the midst of me bouncing around a bit.    I was concerned by earlier posts alone, she seemed sedated & distraught - this was a cry for help & Im glad Island and Darla had her number to facilitate the proper assistance to get to her, always better safe than sorry -you did the right thing & she will see that in due time, no worries you two.   I will have dede in my prayers.

She may have a bit of difficulty reading when she is well enough to get back BUT I hope she realizes how concerned people were for her.  Is it my understanding that her husband was home, I hope professionals give him guidance as well to deal with what has her in such a state of despair.

This is so NOT the reason I finally should have made my way to musing, I will go light a candle & pray for Dede's recovery & will check with everyone in the morning.

Dede, when you get to read just know that so many care about you here & all we ever want for friends here is to be okay & healthy.   Be well sweet lady, life gives us more than we can bare at times but I pray you find the inner strength to heal from old wounds that haunt you now.

Anyone you know who is ill and lives alone.. this is a good program. It costs $30 a week for 5 days but you can get it for less if in need. Our local senior citizen's dept has a meal program too but only 1 meal a day. Now just some oatmeal, milk and will have my energy back in no time.

Am so happy about Monkeys who said "let's roll" tonight and did so!

What a nice idea. My mom and I used to write thank you notes. It was fun when school students would send cards. Mom and I were both teachers and that would bring back some good memories.

I know, was just teasing about the "chasing". My mom and I had them years ago when I first went on disability and she was sent to me to take care of. Actually we ended helping each other.

Used to save the cucumbers, cover with rice vinegar and have then the next day. Sometimes you get the same meal on Mondays or Tues and you don't need a calendar. anyone remember the movie "It's Tuesday it must be Belgium" or was it "Italy"

lil catnip squeaky mice?? or maybe a toy for kitty to chase ?? will give her some way of inter acting/playing with the fur babies, I am sure she does already,but being it would be gifts, well, she may spend EXTRA time with the fur babies and I don't know about everyone else,but my fur babies and inter acting/playing with them when I am down really does cheer me up. Just a thought.

So do I darla. Maybe more than we realize. I'm not sure Wendi was personally able to ask for the help she really needed, and I'm hoping that this will be the beginning of that path she needs to walk for it. Topix has become a very brutal place and those you think are friends,usually are talking behind your back in e-mails to each other,if not totally bashing you in the open on thread. CBB~so true, Darla and I were both talking about how we never stay up late on Sundays online, but God wanted us here tonight for a very specific purpose and I will always be eternally grateful for that in and of itself.

When I worked years ago foods and beverages were out all day and night for the cast, crew, so loads of sodas and all FREE. I drank at least 6 cokes a day.

I am down to 2 or less a week now... why, well one of my neighbors came over one night to borrow one to unclog her toilet. She told me it is good in kitchen drains, too. I know you can take erosion off of car batteries with coke, so I decided I wasn't a toilet, a sink drain or a battery so had been but that into my brain.

My post didn't made sense at the end. I meant to say that I told myself, my brain I wasn't a toilet, a sink drain and a battery.

PS  if coke does all that think of what it does to the color of our teeth and the enamel.

Sorry for the big quote stack, (I don't know how to snip yet, lol).  Searching, I left Topix so long ago, at the beginning when I was totally new to forums I went to Comcast because it was on my front page.  It was a link about missing Caylee, from there I went to Topix and for awhile it seemed so wonderful, we were all helping each other deal with everything.  Then the trolls just wouldn't leave us alone.  Thank God for Klass and all of our other dear mods here on SM.  I feel so safe and healthy here.  I missed all of you guys but it just got so bad there that my hubby said it wasn't good for me.  I came here and don't plan on ever leaving.  I don't post a lot still, lol, I am still a bit shy but I read every single post and I love all of the Monkeys so much.  Yay, we are in the cage together.  I still want justice for Caylee so bad.

A hint for us with dial ups...

I open two windows on my browser.. to the same page, say page 20 on a thread in SM they opened on my computer screen just so the pages overlap.. or underlap anyway, where you can click on each


Ok one window will be the even # and the other the odd..for instance I will be reading backwards in this thread soon... so before I read the page, page 20 I will click on 19 on the other open browser window, so while i am reading 20, 19 is loading.

when I finish 20 I hit down at the bottom # 18 and now this page is loading while I am reading page 19

when I read 19 I then hit 17. this way the pages are loading while you are reading and you don't have to stare at the slow screen

It's sort of like a daisy chain and you get a movement with your hands so they are just "there"

It also works going forward if you read the thread that way, but I am alway behind so read backwards.

Before I learned this I used to still use the two open browser windows and just subtract 20 from each number at the top of the page and rewrite in the sum. Like I was on, for instance page 980 so reading backwards the next on would be 960 so I erased the 6 and put in the 8

I do not know how to snip yet either. I am somewhat of a pariah on the old thread now as I was tired of the trolls myself and spoke up about how they kept following us (he was being carried with us) even though I had tried to tell them before,they were mad when I tried the first time because they did not believe me,but when he posted as a troll and himself one night and posted under the troll name as himself,he outed himself,then I got bashed for not saying anything before..umm well,I had..aarrggg anyway, It has not changed much,all of my posts there were getting picked apart constantly,so I do post news links at times,but try to keep my opinions to myself now. I am still wanting justice for our Caylee too. I love it here,the monkeys are all so kind and you don't have to feel like taking a shower every time you read here and you go away from the cage feeling whole unlike walking away from topix empty... Hi Lucinda, I don't plan on being shy anymore, it is so much more fun to be involved in the conversation.  I need to just learn not to pick my posts to death, lol.  Is your weather a lot better now?  I couldn't even imagine how hot it was.  It can get 100 or so here in Oregon but it only lasts a day or two and then goes right back to normal.  I read everything I could about the fires near you, I just can't believe that it was done on purpose.  Your poem about Ash Wednesday was beautiful and touched me so....I read it out loud to my daughter and she loved it too.  So sad, so much sadness in the world.  We need more happy stories.  If you read back in musings, you will see a story about wonderful monkeys coming together and possibly making a difference.  My thoughts and prayers have been with Wendi/Dede all night.  It is so nice to have someone to chat to late at night, I am always a late night monkey. ::MonkeyCool::

you are so sweet.  Our weather and where the fires are have been nice and mild this week.  I think god mustve had a hand in that, as the weather was forecasted to be up in the high 100s this week, but it wasnt at all.  Hubby is snoring his head off, he just got back from victoria where he was a volunteer, not with fire fighting, but helping with labouring ad other stuff, like unloading the continual flow of trucks coming in with all the donations from all over Australia.  There are even USA fire fighters, and forensic teams helping. 
I was reading about wendi too, and Im so glad for all the kind monkeys helping her.  A lot of websoites would just ban you for opening up like she did, and I just love monkeys cos they are so compassionate.  She was reaching out, and Im so glad she is in hospital.  Her weight worries me, 90 pounds is too thin.  How old is your daughter?  My son turns 21 this year.  Hugs Lucinda

OMG the more I read and tried to get caught up, the more I worried about Wendi and her weight loss and cry for help.  I then saw posters tell her to go to Musings so I came here to read.  Thank God you all were here for her and called for help!  I am so proud of you!  You didn't sit back and watch or wait for someone else to do something.  YOU did it!  ::cartwheel::  You literally could have saved Wendi (Dede's) life!  Dede, God bless you and may you get stronger every day............. we need you and your niece needs you.  "I believe there are angels among us, sent down to us from somewhere up above, they're here for you and me in our darkest hour.............." what a perfect song.

Hi Sharon, yes, I agree, island, darla, dottie, klass, and all the other kind monkeys really helped her.  I just hope she realises how loved she really is.  She has such low self esteem, and I dont now whats been happening in her life, but she is obviously very sad and upset.
I also hope she wont feel embarrassed cos she has nothing to be ashamed of at all.

Hi Lucinda, my daughter is 28, we just found out on New Year's day that she will be having our 3rd grandchild in August.  We are blessed with Rylan Lee 4yrs old and O'Rylie Rose 2yrs old.  They are what brought me to the Caylee case.  The first thing I ever heard was Cindy's voice on the 911 call talking about the (it smells like a dead body in the damn car).  My blood ran cold and I just knew that her precious granddaughter must be dead.  Then when I saw her at the first bond hearing and all of her crazy lies, I thought I had gone loony.

My husband tries to follow along with me but he is not like you guys that know all the details like I do.  I think I have everything said and every photo memorized.  I have never really even knew what blogging was about till this.  The only reason I had a computer was to play video games with my hubby, daughter and her husband. 

Oh by the way, I am so proud of your hubby for his volunteering in the fires, your heart must be bursting.  My son in law used to be a forest fire fighter before they had children, I know how scary and dangerous it can be.  He has a much safer job now, thank God.  We learned in America just what heroes the fireman and police are during 911, they are now truly cherished in America.  I was so proud of the monkeys tonight and Klass showed just what a class act she was.  Instead of banning someone in need, she allowed one of us to be helped.  Island Monkey and Darla were amazing and I just pray that she gets the help she needs and starts to put on some weight.

I have been so consumed with this case, I am retired and have lots of time on my hands.  I promised myself that Caylee would be the last that I got so involved with but now my heart is already so taken with little Haleigh and I pray that somehow she is found safe.  I have felt from the beginning that little Adji was just being forgotten about but without media, we just don't have a lot to go on.  Our hero Tim is there searching for Haleigh and that makes me feel so much better.  Now if just George and Cindy would get out of the picture and stay out of it until their horrid daughter goes to trial we would all be better off.  To read of the two year old little boy that Tim just found alive gives me hope and patience for Haleigh and Adji.  I truly believe in miracles.

What a wonderful happening here last night.  I am so proud of all who were involved here, as I too feel you saved Wendi;s life.

You should all be very proud, as I remember recently, an online group just watched as someone commited suicied. There was no one there to help, and no intentions to help.

I am certainly honored to be a part of this group.  I will pray for Wendis healing to begin as well.. Thank you all for what you did last night. You were there when another  needed you.

This has made me very nervous! I sent my personal information to a couple of Monkeys I truly trust. I realized no one except 2 even had my phone number. I live alone, so I did this for back up in case anything ever happens to me. Thank GOD, Wendi had done that!

At another small forum where I post, we had someone volunteer to be the official keeper of telephone numbers and home addresses. If someone hasn't been around for a couple of days, she has permission to call and check on them. In some cases, she also has a contact number for someone else she can call in case the person in question is in the hospital and we don't know it. Since many of the posters there live alone, it's very comforting to have that list.

Thank-you to all who helped Wendi last night, prayers to you Wendi, with help and time things will look better, I promise. Take care. Mary

A lot of hospitals now will print of e-cards and send them to the patient's room. If the room number was made available some way, then that might be a possibility.

Except, of course, when they start stalking your kids and posting bold faced lies about you.

Just tried to call hospital and couldn't get any information on Wendi...........they wont even verify that she is there even though LE gave me this specific hospital. I have tried their home phone and rec'd no answer, I don't  have ther cell number but will keep trying to get information.

In recent yrears it has been my experience that you must have a code word in order to get any information from a hospital, even if that person has been admitted to a hospital for any reason.  Wendi's husband will have the code word.  Maybe he will give it to someone.

You monks did a great job last night.  I read recently that a young man killed himself while on line and even had a camera recording it on the web. Nobody did anything.  I wondered if this is the case with every forum.  You have all restored my faith that there are good people, even on the internet.

I think it might be a good idea if klaasend kept a private directory that only she can see of our phone numbers and that way we could feel our information was safe. Not even other mods would have access to the info. Only klaas but at least she would have that information.

Then, who we are friends with in our private lives who also posts here would also have contact info.
