Discuss what changes should be made to the timeline here
Great idea this timeline thread.
i suggest keep it simple at first, follow the timeline points made in Loving Natalee...and maybe move on to points in the movie.
as the new readers that come to SM become more educated on the initial timelines, add more depth that will be progressed by the new posters....
Baby steps at first that can be ramped up relatively quick to keep pace with the forums level of understanding....JMO

And Janet/Lifesong...great point about staying positive for keeping the new members that may hang out in the rafters initially after the movie...sometimes we all become cynical about rafter hangers particularly when no news for long periods of time.....
But I'm hoping a new influx of  concerned members will join in helping to get JUSTICE for NATALEE....they are most welcomed......

CORRUPTION IN PARADISE - DAVE HOLLOWAY

Aruba: The Tragic Untold Story of Natalee Holloway and Corruption in Paradise (Hardcover)
by Dave Holloway (Author), Larry Garrison (Author)

Product Description
From Publishers Weekly

Though nearly a year old-an eternity in media time-the story of 19-year-old Natalee Holloway's disappearance in Aruba continues to stir in the public consciousness (a new arrest was reported as recently as April 16). This latest addition to the missing girl's casefile is co-authored by her father, whose motivation for writing the book is straightforward: "I am a father who has no idea what happened to my child. ... Is she dead? Is she alive? Is she being held captive somewhere? ... I need to know." Trouble is, Holloway doesn't know. As such, there isn't enough new or complete information here to draft a true crime story, and Holloway is repeatedly frustrated in his attempts to investigate. While he remains convinced that Dutch teen Joran van der Sloot and his friends are connected to Natalee's death, Holloway also floats possible involvement by the Mafia, a sex ring, and the drug trade. The closest Halloway comes to a complete theory, "Either ... local boys chase after unsuspecting girls, drug and rape them the night before they leave ... or there is a much larger conspiracy where girls are made to disappear at the whim of some higher-ups," is too broad and unsubstantiated to generate much suspense. Sadly, those who follow the case will discover much more about the anguish of a confused and desperate father than they will about Natalee Holloway or her disappearance.

LOVING NATALEE - BETH HOLLOWAY

Loving Natalee: A Mother's Testament of Hope and Faith (Hardcover)
by Beth Holloway (Author)

Editorial Reviews
Product Description

This is the story no one should have to tell, about the nightmare no one wants to live, told by the parent no one wants to be.

In May of 2005, Beth Holloway received the worst phone call a parent can imagine. Her beautiful daughter, Natalee, had disappeared without a trace in Aruba during her high school senior class trip. Two years later, for the first time, Beth Holloway steps forward in this astonishingly candid and inspirational memoir to tell of her harrowing ordeal and her never-ending belief in the power of faith that gave her hope against all odds.

Natalee's senior class picture was splashed across the front pages of the country's newspapers and on television. Desperate for a clue as to her daughter's whereabouts, Beth and an army of faithful volunteers searched tirelessly for the missing eighteen-year-old. In their pursuit of Natalee, they encountered many roadblocks. As the horror stretched out, Beth stood on her foundation of faith, which at times was all she had to give her strength against a barrage of unbearable questions with no answers.

Natalee's disappearance remains unsolved and her location unknown to this day. Beth's search continues.

About the Author

Beth Holloway is the mother of Natalee Holloway, who vanished on the last night of her senior class trip on May 30, 2005. To this day Beth continues to search for the truth of what happened. She grew up in Arkansas, then lived and worked in Tennessee, Mississippi, and finally Alabama where she now lives with her son, Matt. Today Beth addresses schools, churches, law enforcement groups, and other organizations on personal and travel safety.

Lifesong

Maybe we could submit quotes from each book authored by Natalee Holloway's parents ... quotes that imply that from Dave and Beth's perspective that:

1.  Joran, Deepak, Satish and Paulus were participants in the events that encompass the morning when their daughter went missing and was never see again.

2.  The Aruban investigation had a coverup agenda to protect Joran and Paulus.

Just a suggestion.

Lifesong ... I believe that any presentation should be simply done so that the reader who does not have an indepth knowledge will grasp in one sitting the dynamics surrounding the Natalee Holloway story ... the dynamics that imply that this is not about a crime against a missing American on foreign soil ... crime happens everywhere.  It is about a corrupt Aruban investigation that has prevented justice from prevailing since May 30, 2005.

Yes, as long as it is kept simple and easy to follow.
The Persistence deception is the follow up to Natalee's story.

I completely agree on both points, Janet.

Simple, concise pieces of quickly comprehensible information is where its at!  And everyone so inclined - please help!

 ::MonkeyDance::

I like the idea of quoting from Beth and Dave's perspectives via their books.

Also, maybe separate compilations of short quotes encompassing the words/deeds of Joran, Deepak, VanderStraten/Dompig, Jansen/Mos?

???

The quickest way to timeline the first year would be through the news articles still available on the web - the trick is to link instead of copy text to keep it shorter to read - and to choose the best article available (preferably only one) for each event included.  I think selective choosing of those events is in order too?

Again, ???

I agree too.  I'm not sure we shouild lead with it, but I think the one thing we can do that the movie probably wasn't able to, is to show that the coverup continues to this day.  People need to know that.

I also think we need to give them some course of action to take to say they want justice for Natalee (Somebody Knows the Truth), whether that is links to contact the Dutch officials, Brinkman, et. al., or our new secretary of state/administration (as I was thinking last week) or anyone else we can think of that could apply pressure.

I do not know where to begin.

Is there a good chronological outline of the main events?  From there we could begin to locate related articles, interview, etc.

Maybe we could look at the Natalee's Freebirds' documents.  It could be a lot of the work has already been done.

ARUBA: THE TRAGIC UNTOLD STORY OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY AND CORRUPTION IN PARADISE
By Dave Holloway

1.  Dave Holloway arrives on the Island to find that Aruban Law Enforcement refuses to take the disappearance of his daughter seriously.

Page 9

In fact, he (Dennis Jacobs) was so confident that she was just partying it up or on drugs that he told us this particular bar would be the best place to find her. However, he did warn us to watch our drinks very carefully, adding that sometimes people put drugs into them.

2.  Dave Holloway suspect that Aruban Law Enforcement is tampering with the official witness statements.

Page 183

I commented to Jacobs about how short my statement was. He said that I could add anything I wanted to it. Also, I noticed that Eric Soemers's name was on it, but that detective was not even present during the interview. Now I wondered if Jacobs was making up everyone's statement and getting Eric to sign on to them. If that were the case, he could state anything he wanted, and it would look like an official statement made in front of a witness.

[LOVING NATALEE: A MOTHER'S TESTAMENT OF HOPE AND FAITH
By Beth Holloway

1.  Beth Holloway learns almost immediately after arriving on the Island of Aruban that the last person who was with her daughter prior to disappearing had lied to the Mountain Brook students.

Page 39

Following our brief conversation, we all walk immediately to the fronT desk to ask about someone named Joran who is staying in the hotel and plays in the casino here.  The Holiday Inn night manager, Brenda, knows him by name.  "Oh! yes ... yes ... Joran.  He gambles in the Excelsior Casino here.  He likes to prey on young female tourists.  Especially the blonds.   He is tall.  Good-looking boy.  Like a Dutch marine."   My mouth drops wide open.  "Where is he from?" I ask her.  She replies.  "He lives in Aruba."  I stutter.  "He's ... he's not a tourist just here for the summer?"  "Non, non," she says.

It takes a few moments to absorb this information.  The supposed tourist who befriended some of Natalee's classmates and who told them he was staying at their hotel lied to them.  He isn't a tourist.  He isn't staying here.

2.  Beth Holloway learned that Aruba has an agenda to protect the suspects from implication in the disappearance of her daughter.

Page 157/158

No one is breathing. Or Moving. Reporters and camera people are crying. The media hve been here more than a month, and they’ve seen firsthand what we’ve experienced. They are moved by this plea. But some of the Arubans are not. Calling their local sons “criminals” offends them. Having just heard the prosecuting attorney tell us at least one of the Kalpoes could be involved in whatever happened to my daughter. I felt the term seemed appropriate. But it led to an abrupt change in the tide of support."

"Not long after the “criminals speech,” some Arubans back off their prayer vigils for Natalee. A few protest in the streets against the barage of negative media. We’ve worn out our welcome at the Holiday Inn. And they let us know they’ve had it. The Aruban Tourism Authority (ATA), the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association (AHATA), the Aruba Trade and Industry Association and a scattering of island officials establish the Strategic Communications Task Force to combat the negative media. And to combat us.

If the reader you are aiming at is someone who happens by after seeing the movie on Sunday,
you have way too much information there already.

It is like a resume'.

You cannot educate them until you get their attention.

Make a list.....number it, so that it is easy to follow.

We have absorbed this information slowly over four years.  It is too much for one easy lesson.

So we feel strongly that we have already spoken to them. And there's no one else outside this group that could be involved or responsible.

So sometimes people will ask us that, "Are you not tunnel-visioned? Maybe you should look at other possibilities." Of course. We did that. But we still feel that, every time you go on a path, a different path, that path leads back, comes back to these three boys.

What do you think of beginning with a picture of Natalee with her friends on the beach wearing the clothing she wore to C & C's on her last night.

Followed by the photo of Natalee sitting at the table in the casino with her friends and the man resembling Paulus VDS sitting beside her.   The same table suspect Joran sat.

Then the three last seen with Natalee that night.  Joran and the Kalpoe brothers.

Followed by excerpts from the suspects statements, including the taped conversations the suspects had in the police car.  example - paraphrase, if they see that s**t you will get 15 years.  "your own father"

Then the meeting held around the pool where Paulus is said to declare "no body, no case.

Then Beth's arrival on the island and Beths and entourage' first visit to the vandersloot home and a summary of what was said by various parties there including Beth's hearing and subsequently entering in her journal that Paulus said he picked Joran up at 4:00 a.m. @ Mcd's etc. etc.

and so on and so on.  Just random early thoughts.

I was browsing the Corruption and Collusion thread at:

I'm sure you all know but to me there is a lot of well thought/laid out info that could be selected and put in specific/concise short posts to bring new monkeys up to date pretty quickly.
By maybe post on the Natalee Holloway thread selected posts from the C&C thread, interests will be peaked and in time many new monkeys would learn to use C&C thread as a good source to catch up.

Titles like already completed such as:

May 30, 2005
BUSY DAY IN ARUBA - MAY 30, 2005

and
THE IMPOSSIBLE TIMELINE
May 31, 2005

and

YOU BE THE JUDGE

are just a few examples of all the hardwork Monkeys/freebirds/other sources have already laid out with sources....and bring them forward in sections to the Natalee Holloway thread that can be easily digested.

Janet, I do not have a clue either.
Just trying to think how it could be laid out point by point simply -  for those guests that may visit that haven't been swamped with information as those of us that have been supporting and following Natalee's case for four years, but whose interest has been sparked by the movie.

I have come to the computer late in life, and I am embarrassed to say my skills are extremely limited.  What little I have managed to learn has been from my children and they live far away.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I am so impressed with the research abilities of yourself and so many other Monkeys, and feel badly that I don't contribute more.

Good Morning!

I like the idea of the outline too, Janet.

I think we should be picking up where the movie leaves off, only we don't know yet where the movie leaves off...

Imo, we should at least cover the November 2007 re-arrests and subsequent releases, the ocean search and crab trap, and the Montserat pond fiasco.

My weekend is filling up now too, I'd expected to have most of it free.  I'll be away most of the afternoon today and most of the day tomorrow as well.

billb - I was looking at the C&C thread last night too and was thinking along the same lines.  A taste of the information with a link to read more may be just where its at!

Maybe the most efficient thing is to just coordinate the subject/keyword?

Your indexed data followed up with mini-timeline links?

I trust your instincts completely, a lot of what I've learned about the case over the years has come from your posts!   ::MonkeyHaHa::

I wouldn't worry about the links, your indexed data always fills in the story best, imo.

 ::MonkeyHaHa::  I'm making stuff up!!

Here's an example of what I'm referring to...I always see 3 parts to your documented posts... Subject, Narrative, Data.  I don't know why I'm insisting there's an index!  ::MonkeyHaHa::

This DATA I think does a better job of briefly flushing out the story for the reader moreso than a link to a headline.  If we coordinate a DATA post with a mini-timeline post by subject, that may be an efficient way to cover the bases.

Honestly....I don't know!   ::MonkeyHaHa::

SUBJECT
ARUBAN CHIEF OF POLICE - GEROLD DOMPIG

NARRATIVE
Gerold Dompig’s official position within the Natalee Holloway investigation dictates that inside information was at the foundation of his words regarding his suspicion encompassing the involvement of Joran, Deepak and Satish.
_________

DATA

Aruban police say new tapes could spur arrests
Police official tells 'Abrams Report' about latest in the Holloway case
TRANSCRIPT
updated 6:14 p.m. PT, Wed., Oct. 12, 2005

GERALD DOMPIG, ARUBAN DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE:  DOMPIG: Exactly. And I go by the rule of thumb that, in the first 40 days -- as I said in a different program -- the first 40 days, law enforcement has probably also already spoken to the perpetrators.

I agree 100%.

Each section of the "data" presentation sould have a consistent format.

Each section of the "timeline" should have a consistent format.

I'll reformat the mini-timelines with the link at the date as well, I just thought they looked messy the other way!   ::MonkeyWink::

Do you thing that one data post following a timeline post would be sufficient or do you think there should be more.  The data post/s  would reference one or more of the events in the timeline.

I say as many as it takes!

I can make mini-timelines to match whatever the subjects are too.  I'm more comfortable with you choosing the subjects though.

I believe the "data" posts should include quotes.  Only the link implies that the reader has an entire article to read to locate the subject material.

What do you think about the following format?

1. MINI TIMELINE POST (LINKS) #1 - 2005 - Lifesong

TWO PERTINENT DATA POSTS - Tamikosmom

2.  MINI TIMELINE POST #2 (LINKS) - 2006 - Lifesong

ARUBAN CHIEF OF POLICE - GEROLD DOMPIG

Gerold Dompig’s official position within the Natalee Holloway investigation dictates that inside information was at the foundation of his words regarding his suspicion encompassing the involvement of Joran, Deepak and Satish.
_________

'Rita Cosby Live & Direct'

GEROLD DOMPIG: I still believe that these boys have been lying, they're still lying, and everybody knows that by now. So there's no doubt in my mind that they know something, they're guilty of something.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12187266/

'Rita Cosby Live & Direct'

RITA COSBY: Do you believe, Chief—you said to me even before this interview that you believe the boys are guilty as hell. Do you believe they‘re involved in her disappearance?
GEROLD DOMPIG: Yes.

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/9910586/from/RL.3/

'Rita Cosby Live & Direct'

GEROLD DOMPIG: Joran went back and forth with his statements, and he withdrew two statements which he had already given to us. So basically, none of his statements were really trustworthy.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9727957/

'Abrams Report'

GEROLD DOMPIG: Well, it would take me, I think, a little over two days to go over all the inconsistencies. None of the stories match up, let me put it that way. So when it comes to believing this individual, we know in which category to place him.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9676188

'The Abrams Report'

GEROLD DOMPIG: I go by the rule of thumb that, in the first 40 days -- as I said in a different program -- the first 40 days, law enforcement has probably also already spoken to the perpetrators. So we feel strongly that we have already spoken to them. And there's no one else outside this group that could be involved or responsible.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9676188/page/2/

'The Abrams Report'

GEROLD DOMPIG: So sometimes people will ask us that, "Are you not tunnel-visioned? Maybe you should look at other possibilities." Of course. We did that. But we still feel that, every time you go on a path, a different path, that path leads back, comes back to these three boys.

In keeping the data posts as concise as possible ... maybe you could get rid of the links and ... provide the reader access by clicking the source article/talk show.  Example:  'The Abrams Report'

I have no idea how that magic is done.

THE CONFESSION - JUNE 10, 2005

On June 10, 2005, a spokesperson for the office of the Aruban Minister of Justice reported that authorities confirmed the death of Natalee Holloway and the location of her body was known.

The chief of police reported that one of the suspects had provided a confession but ... the chief refused to reveal which suspect.

Prior to the Aruban Justice Minister's denial and his spokesperson's retraction, Natalee Holloway's parents had been notified of their daughter's demise.

________

'Fox News'

David Cruz, a spokesman for the Aruban Minister of Justice (search) told FOX News Natalee Holloway (search), who was on vacation with friends with a graduation trip when she disappeared, was confirmed dead and that authorities knew the location of her body.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,159252,00.html

'Fox News'

RICK LEVENTHAL: We reconfirmed the information with Croues before going on-air with it.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,159664,00.html

'CBS News'

Holloway's family rushed late Friday to an old stone lighthouse beside Arisha beach after Deputy Police Commissioner Gerold Dompig told The Associated Press that one of three young men in custody admitted that "something bad happened" to Holloway and was leading police to the scene of the alleged crime.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/06/10/national/main700829.shtml

'Meridian Star'

DAVE HOLLOWAY: At some point into this investigation, as time goes on and you don’t find her, you start realizing that things are not looking good. We got that confirmation pretty much from the FBI on June 10. They came to us and said the investigation appears to be heading toward a homicide case.

http://www.meridianstar.com/local/local_story_148205455.html

'Scarborough Country'

BETH HOLLOWAY TWITTY, MOTHER OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY:  And that was the day that the FBI came in, Doug Shipley (ph) came in and said that the way the interrogations are unfolding, there‘s a strong possibility that Natalee may not be alive. That was huge. That was the day that—I think, Joe, everyone buried Natalee that day, on June 10.

And then it just—from there, the night went on. There were body sightings, countless. They were knocking on my door. They thought they found her. Oh, no, they didn‘t. It went on from 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. It was horrific.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9813596/

'Crime/Punishment'

Then Justice Minister Rudy Croes told reporters early Saturday morning that the rumor that one of the students had confessed was a lie, throwing the media on the island into confusion and prompting conflicting news alerts from the Caribbean. Croes emphatically denied that any confession had been made.

http://crime.about.com/b/2005/06/10/confusion-reigns-in-natalee-holloway-case.htm

'Fox News'

Cruz later retracted the statement, saying he was a victim of a "misinformation campaign."

A FATHER'S NIGHTMARE

In April, 2006 a book authored by the father of Natalee Holloway was released.  Dave Holloway shares with readers almost one year of desperately seeking answers to the events that encompass the morning of May 30, 2005 ... the morning his precious daughter went missing and was never seen again.

_____

ARUBA: THE TRAGIC UNTOLD STORY OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY AND CORRUPTION IN PARADISE
By Dave Holloway

Excerpts

Page 9:  In fact, he (Dennis Jacobs) was so confident that she was just partying it up or on drugs that he told us this particular bar would be the best place to find her. However, he did warn us to watch our drinks very carefully, adding that sometimes people put drugs into them.

Page 10:  While customers must pass by a bouncer at the door, there was no indication that he was stopping anyone from entering. The bar was packed with teenagers doing Jell-O shots and sleazy-looking island boys preying on the beautiful young female tourist.  ... I did not want to stay inside, so we hung out around the street corners. In less than two hours, we probably experienced at least ten to fifteen offers from various drug dealers who wanted us to buy from them.

Page 16:  During our daylight searches throughout the island, our group came across many abandoned houses where drug addicts had left razors and other drug paraphernalia. Some were filled with foul smelling odors, feces, urine, cardboard boxes they used as blankets or beds, and general trash. One of those houses was located right next to a fine restaurant near the hotel area and a McDonald’s.  ... Several times, people came into the hotel to meet with other locals and an apparent drug deal was taking place. The person would come in to scope out the area prior to doing the deal.

Page 182:  I asked Dompig to do the interview of Koen instead of having Jacobs do it. I became concerned because he said he would have to discuss it with Jacobs first. Several weeks later, I heard that Koens father had been interviewed, but Koen had not been questioned yet. I wondered if they were prepping the father to prep his son for questioning. That was something that seemed all to familiar.

Page 183:  It was a flowchart with all of the suspects and interested parties on it.  He (Art Wood) noticed that one person who we thought was a suspect, Lorenzo van Rijn, rumoured to be Joran’s half brother, was not on it.  We had been told that he might have had some connection to Natalee’s disappearance.  He is supposedly known on the island by the nickname Xtacy.  Art asked him (Dennis Jacobs) where Lorenzo was, and Jacobs said that Lorenzo had nothing to do with Natalee’s case, so he doesn’t have to be on the flow chart.  We left, and Art commented on Jacobs’ reaction.  There is talk in Aruba that Lorenzo is a known drug dealer who lives in a compound on the island with a remote-controlled sliding gate, television monitors, and razor wire all around the top of the fence.  Apparently, you cannot get into that place.  It looks like a prison camp.  Since Lorenzo is suppose to be related to Joran, if the boys got drugs to give Natalee, they may have gotten them from him.

Page 183:  I commented to Jacobs about how short my statement was.

Page 118-119:  I walked up to (Michael) Dompig, and he seemed a little embarrassed that we had witnessed his actions. He then started talking about the case, and during this conversation he mentioned that he had heard that Paulus van der Sloot had borrowed a friend's boat on either the night of Natalee's disappearance or the next day and that he was allegedly involved with Natalee's murder.

I have not been involved following this case.  However, I was doing some searching and ran across this site....of course, mentioning the 'Scared Monkey's' site.

Just an FYI - the site above was created by Jan Brennan aka Medleyrelay.  She headed up the first Joran defense fund and has been a van der Sloot supporter from the beginning.  She is not a Natalee fan.  We don't link to her bogus online book.

I'm sure you didn't know all that or you wouldn't have posted the link.  ::MonkeyWink::

That's what I've got so far...all sourced from Fox News.  I'm not a big fan of single-sourcing, but it was the only way to do it quickly.

Now...The Persistence and The Crab Trap...not sure the best way to do that...I'll try to pull the big timeline and make a shorter, more concise summary using the same format as above.

THE BOYCOTT

Considering that Aruban Law Enforcement appeared to be preventing justice from prevailing for an 18 year old American citizen, in the fall of 2005, Natalee Holloway's father joined her mother in the calling of a boycott again travel to Aruba.

On January 19, 2005, Governor Bob Riley and Senator Steve French proclaimed an official voluntary boycott of travel to Aruba.

'48 Hours Mystery'

Last fall, Twitty called for a boycott of Aruba. The island’s tourism industry has suffered: Travel bookings are off more than 4 percent from a year ago.

Does she still support a boycott of Aruba?

"The only leverage that we have in getting any traction in the investigation is when they feel the effects of a boycott," says Twitty.

Gov. Bob Riley called for a nationwide travel boycott of Aruba on Tuesday on behalf a missing Alabama teenager's family, who accuse the island's government of not fully cooperating with the investigation into her disappearance.

Alabama Senate votes to support boycott of Aruba

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Gov. Bob Riley's call for a tourism boycott of Aruba has picked up support from the Alabama Senate, which says the investigation into the disappearance of an Alabama teenager has suffered from too many missteps.

On Thursday, the Senate voted 27-0 for a resolution supporting a boycott of the Dutch Caribbean island. Sen. Steve French, R-Birmingham, said he proposed the resolution at the request of the family of Mountain Brook teenager Natalee Holloway.

Holloway disappeared May 30 while on a graduation trip with classmates. She was last seen leaving a bar with a young Dutch national and two Surinamese brothers.

The Senate-passed resolution said a boycott is needed because the investigation into Holloway's disappearance "has been plagued with an unacceptable amount of missteps, miscommunications and inconsistencies."

"It's my hope this will cause the Aruban people to be more demanding that their officials conduct a thorough investigation," French said.

During a special session in July, the Alabama House passed a resolution calling for a boycott of Aruba.

CATCH AND RELEASE

In November, 2007, ten Aruban attorneys concluded that the Aruban prosecutor had sufficient evidence to rearrest Joran van der Sloot, Deepak Kalpoe and Satish Kalpoe on suspicion of involvement in the happenings encompassing the morning of May 30, 2005 when Natalee Holloway went missing.

However, less that one month later all three suspects were released.  A judge deemed that evidence did not justify the rearrest.
_________

'On the Record w/ Greta'

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, HOST: Breaking news from Aruba, Joran van der Sloot ordered to stay behind bars for at least eight more days. Now, the Kalpoe brothers already got the same news last week. Now, all three suspects were re-arrested. Why? The prosecutor has now charged all three with voluntary manslaughter of Natalee Holloway.

HANS MOS: And this decision to re-arrest these three suspects was a decision taken by 10 lawyers, by 10 lawyers sitting around a table (INAUDIBLE) whole afternoon, being presented the new material.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,313168,00.html

'ABC New'

Hans Mos, Aruba's chief prosecutor, told ABC News he believes the the new evidence makes the case against the three men stronger than it was two years.

"We are convinced if we had had this evidence we have now they would not have been released by the court at that time," Mos said.

http://sendtofriend.abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3912737

'ABC News'

A suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway never mentioned her death in an online chat, his lawyer said Friday, contradicting Aruban prosecutors who called the comment key new evidence in the case. The chat log fell far short of justifying the arrest of Deepak Kalpoe, one of three men seen with the American teen the night of her disappearance, said attorney Ronald Wix.

A court in the Dutch Caribbean island agreed and quickly released Kalpoe, along with brother Satish and a third suspect, Joran van der Sloot. Now, authorities should leave the three men alone, Wix told reporters.

TWO YEARS TOO LATE

In April and May of 2007 Dutch investigators search the grounds and home of the van der Sloots and the Kalpoes respectively.  Results of the search were never revealed.
________

'CBS News'

In April, investigators from the Netherlands dug around the home of van der Sloot's family for two days without revealing what prompted the search. Then in May, Dutch and Aruban investigators visited the home where Deepak and Satish Kalpoe live with their parents for what authorities termed an "inspection," without revealing details.

A MOTHER'S JOURNEY OF FAITH

In the Fall of 2007, a book authored by the mother of Natalee Holloway was released.  Beth Holloway shares with readers the heartbreak, the frustration and the desperations in her ongoing journey to be a voice for her daughter until justice prevails.

Then she shares the sustaining faith that has given her courage to endure.

_________

Excerpts

Page 39:  Following our brief conversation, we all walk immediately to the fronT desk to ask about someone named Joran who is staying in the hotel and plays in the casino here.

Page 44:  Jug and I will view the tapes while the handlers volunteer to hit the streets to see what they can learn.  ... Alberto and Claudio went to the location, looked over the fences, and there it was.  A silver-gray Honda with big tailpipes and fancy features, just like the (MB) students had described.  They wrote down the license plate number and the address.  On the piece of paper is everything we need: the name of Joran van der Sloot, his address, and the tag number.

Page 76:  The detective takes a seat at his desk and sorts through some papers before getting ready to type at his computer keyboard.  It's quiet.  I am very cold, waiting for him to begin.  As I stare at the torn documents on the table, the words Joran van der Sloot jump right off one of the ripped pager at me and pierce my eyes.  It's Joran's witness statement, torn up, lying in plain view.   So he has been here.  He has given his statement.  It has been destroyed for some reason.   Did he change his mind?   Can you even do that?  Did someone come along and decide it wasn't in Joran's best interest to go on record about what happened to Natalee?

Page 148/149:  Anita tells us all about Joran and what a good boy he is.  How smart he is.  I let her go on and on, as this gives me time to listen, look, assess.  And as she continues, she begins to share with us what a difficult time they have had with him recently.  How he exibits oppositional defiance and is disrespectful to his mother.  How they are beginning to lose control of him as he sneaks out at night and comes and goes as he pleases.  After about thirty minutes she concludes by tell us Joran is seeing a psychologist for his definant behavior.

Now it's my turn.  I have no intention of matching her good-boy remarks with good-girl comments.  And cut to the chase.  Graphically repeating the very words said by their son a couple of weeks ago in his statements made on June 9, 10 and 13.  The vile account that was read to me in the attorney general's office.  The sexually explicit words used by Joran to describe what he did to Natalee.  Calmer than I have ever been in my whole life and without blinking, I tell them which fingers he said he used.  Where he said he put them.  How their son described my daughter's pubic area, her underwear.  How Joran said she was falling asleep and waking up, falling asleep and waking up.  I tell them of his conflicting stories of what happened, the different places he said it happened.  Little bead of sweat form across Paulus' brow and forehead.

Page 157/158:  No one is breathing.

1.  Beth Holloway learns almost immediately after arriving on the Island of Aruban that the last person who was with her daughter prior to disappearing had lied to the Mountain Brook students.

Page 182:  Helen is very positive.  "It looks good that they will remain in custody" she says.  Then just three hours after she tells me this encouraging news, a devastating call comes from an AP reporter.  Paulus van der Sloot and his attorney are bragging to everyone that all three suspects are getting out day after tomorrow!.  Then all the media start calling.  I call Helen, then FBI agent Bill and the U.S. vice-consul.  None of them have this information. So we tell the media it must be a rumor.  But the word is out all over the island from the defense side that all three suspects will walk.  Four and a half hours after this announcement is made to international media by Joran's father and his defense team, the FBI calls to tell me that it is indeed true.  So the three suspects who were last seen with my daughter, and who offered multiple versions of what happened that night, will go free.  And we are the last ones to find out.

Page 183:  The Dutch interrogators, who have tried as hard as the FBI to help us, come up to the room. They are trying to make heads or tails of this. "In Holland this would never have happened' one of them tells me. "The defense is running the show". They were as shocked as we were that the 3 will be released and said information was presented to the judge that showed ample reason to keep them in custody.

Page 184:  Then FBI agent Bill comes by and delivers the final blow.  "The FBI has never received one single document from the Arubans.  Not one tape.  Nothing." he says sadly.  Depite our personal pleas to authorities here and our broadcast appeals to Aruba to let the FBI lend a hand, and regardless of Aruba's public response that it would welcome FBI assistance, the island never let FBI agents in on the investigation. Never passed them the ball.  Not even for one minute

Page 185:  The island authorities originally planned to release the three suspects at two o-clock in the morning on Saturday, September 3.  The Strategic Communications Task Force undoubtedly helped them make a less conspicuous move and release them in the afternoon instead.  Curious to see the setup at the van der Sloot house for Joran's parade of victory, I drive by there, never in a million years expecting to see who is there.  It's the U.S. vice-consul.  At the van der Sloots' house.  Why is she here?   She spots me.  Jumps in her car and follows me to a resturant parking lot, waving, honking, calling on the cell phone.  I don't want to talk to her.  Who can we trust?

Through it all ...

Pages 209/210:  Bad things happen everywhere.  But the difference we need to consider when something bad happens outside the country is the help available for the victims and their families.  When we leave these borders, we leave behind all the privileges and rights we're all accustomed to and often take for granted.  We have expectations that there will be a safety net of law-abiding official, no matter where we travel, or that our US embassy will come to our rescue.  But that's terribly naive ...

Page 227:  Jug has supported me through this entire nightmare.  And we have done everything we can.

Pages 230/231:  I can't say for sure if we'll ever know that answer to whether my daughter is alive or not.  I know it doesn't look good.  But just as that old metal spiral staircase rose from the ashes when our lake house burned down, so too faith stands strong in the remains of this devastating loss.  And just as my Dad built another house around that staircase, I will build another life around hope and faith.  It won't ever be the same.  But I pray that it will, at the very least, be useful.

The hope that filled Natalee's heart fills mine, and I will press on.  Faith got me up this morning, and faith will see me through tomorrow.  And the next day.  And the next.

Page 232:  Without hope we are hungry. And on a very deep level, desperate. But no one has to be. What's so amazing is that we can feed each other. We can help each other. We have the power to give resilience to others who are fading. We can nourish each other's spirits and save one another from defeat and despair. Every one of us possesses this power to "love thy neighbor," and we need to use it every chance we get.

goodmorning monkeys

this is a great idea

just a thought
as a newbee i find it hard to determine what
has been deemed....FACT vs debatable vs fiction
yous have gathered SOOOOOO much info here
its mind boggling
also you may want to set up an EASY accessable
and EASY to use ...TIP SPOT.....just for tips that might be
coming your way.......ie  a spot where people can
leave hints and tips that are not responded to
on that ..TIP spot but possibly on the main Natalee
line ..this way the single line tips wont get lost in the mountains of
info

THE OCEAN SEARCH FOR NATALEE HOLLOWAY

In mid December of 2007 a crew of Americans on board a vessel named The Persistence begins a search for Natalee Holloway's remains in the waters off Aruba.  On Christmas Day a discovery is made while sonar scanning the ocean floor.  The discovery was a large fish trap.  On December 29th an ROV is ultilized to capture images of what is contained within.

Kyle Kingman, the ROV operator and remote analysis on board the Persistence, came to the conclusion that Natalee Holloway's remains may have been placed within that trap.

However, on a December 30, 2007, Aruban divers claimed that their investigation revealed there was nothing related to the Natalee Holloway case inside the trap.

John Silvetti, the Project Lead on board the Persistence, accepted the words of the Aruban divers unconditionally.
______

The Persistence - Key Personnal

John Silvetti - Project Lead and Key Contributor- Responsible for overall project planning and development. Owner of Marine Surveys, LLC . Donated the R/V Persistence for the search effort.

Kyle Kingman - Field Project Manager, Geophysical Engineer and Marine Geologist - Responsible for side scan sonar acquisition, digital processing, analysis, and target identification. Kyle will assist in side scan sonar operation and guide the ROV (remotely operated vehicle) team to each sonar target.

In His Own Words

Kyle Kingman:   I found the trap on 1:45am Christmas morning. I got the OK to begin our ROV dive series for the 29th, so I made it our first dive. We got visual of the fish trap and that it was suspicious. Basically, the fish trap door was open and there appeared to be a skull and torso-shape in sand on the door inside the trap Reviewing the 29-Dec video I noticed the torso shape in sand had a 90 degree angle and that the sand was supported from falling through the bottom of the trap, which was slightly excavated by currents. I proportioned out the distance from the top of the head, to shoulder, to that 90 degree angle and it was a match to Natalee's photo of her standing -head, to shoulder, to the end of her denim skirt. I showed TM the proportional match and the possibility of a skirt under the sand.

Kyle Kingman:  On the morning of the 30th we met on board the Persistence with Hans Mos, Richardson, and the rest of the police brass and dive division. I showed them all the 29th dive video and they agreed that it was very suspicion and looked promising.

Kyle Kingman: Later that day 30-Dec we conducted the dive with the Aruban divers along with our own Tim Trahan.

Kyle Kingman: What you can't see is immediately before Tim approached the trap opening, a large skate stirred up sediment reducing visibility.

Kyle Kingman:  When Tim T. gives one thumb down, he said that it was inconclusive.  He couldn't tell by his own admission.

Kyle Kingman:  The Arubans told us there wasn't anything of interest in the trap based on the visual-only inspection.

Kyle Kingman:  John (Silvetti) is not a believer in the trap. He took ALE's word as gospel that it wasn't case related, yet never studied the videos or bothered to inquire further. He had plans on doing business with Aruba and in S. America and he didn't want to hurt any feelings by talks hinting at lack of complete trust and friendship. I did not feel the same and we had a major difference in opinion. He was the one who never pressed ALE to be completely open with us with the trap evidence. I would have forced them to. However, John was the one paying my invoices so I was forced to sit back and hope for the best.

THE RECOVERY DIVE

On January 7, 2008 Aruban divers sampled and recovered the contents of the large fish trap disovered with sonar on the ocean floor off the coast of Aruba on Christmas Day, 2007 by the ROV operator and remote analyst on board the Persistence.

The crew of the Persistence were not involved in the recovery process ... only the Arubans.

________

In His Own Words

Kyle Kingman: The Persistence had no divers on the 7th. Tim Trahan was our diver on the 30th-Dec, but he was out of the country at the time. The Aruban divers were on the police boat, dove from their boat, and returned to their boat.

Kyle Kingman: They were immediately whisked away by the Aruban police and not seen of again by us on the 7th

Kyle Kingman:  The bags were deliberately placed there after the divers sampled the contents. The bags were removed just after the ROV got out of the way when the divers took the samples to their boat.... and took off.

Kyle Kingman: I get done in the survey room backing up the ROV dive and head to the back deck to talk to the Polis divers and see what they sampled and see the Polis boat way in the distance heading away fast. John doesn't seem concerned at all, but I am very dissapointed, concerned, and burning inside because I have a feeling that I/we will never know what they took from the trap. That evening I talked to John asking when we plan on recovering the trap. Previously this was part of the talks and plan, but this time he doesn't seem concerned about ever looking into the trap further. After John verbally BASHED me about the trap for what I said to Tim Miller about the sand body-form and that I believed her skirt was under the sand, John pretty much committed himself to the belief the trap wasn't what we were after. This shocked me because it was exactly what we were looking for- a fish trap lost at sea with human remains.

Kyle Kingman:  I personally was extremely uncomfortable with the chain of custody, being that we weren't a part of it, but I was powerless to do anything about it. The samples were photographed in detail by one Aruban diver and the other two investigated the contents of the trap, the dimensions, the rigging, and what surrounded the trap. From the video, it looked like they did a diligent and careful job with the samples and the underwater photography. I don't know who has these pictures, but I must assume ALE.

Terrific posts, Tamikosmom!!

Please give me your advice on how to go about this without you tonight...I'm thinking...quoting these right into the discussion thread when I see the guest count rising?    :smt102

I'll also put together the email addresses that caesu had given us and emails to the new Sec. of State Dept. and US administration and post those as well, can't hurt right?

My plans today were cancelled - a lovely day on the lake  - due to storms in the forecast.  I have a lot of free time on my hands now if there's anything else you can think of that may be helpful for me to gather.

If you are working on the mini timelines with corresponding data posts ... do not divert ... delegate other aspects of the presentation to our Natalee Holloway Monkeys.  Otherwise you will become overwhelmed.

SONAR SCANNING BY PERSISTENCE AT MONTSERAT POND

On February 27, 2008, two members of the RV Persistence ocean search crew performed a sonar-scan survey of Montserrat Pond.  Kyle Kingman, the crew’s geophysical engineer and marine geologist was responsible for the results analysis and target identification.

Kyle Kingman:  This is two of our crew out surveying the pond yesterday (27-Feb).  They are using a SonaVision scanning sonar. The sonar scans 360 degrees out to a user select range.  In this case we used between 50-100ft range.  By placing multiple "drops" approximately 75-100 ft apart you can quickly and efficiently scan an entire pond.  I must have a good laught at this one. The boat they are in is TINY and Tony is a big guy.

Kyle Kingman:   “There are 18 targets. Two are definitely tires. The rest, who knows.  It's likely tin cans, mud clumps, and debris. There is one small box-like target but it's only 2ft across and doesn't have much relief, unless it's completely sunk into the mud (likely).  I can find something about the size of a hockey puck with that system in good conditions. The water was very shallow when this survey was done.  Remember, in February 2006 the pond was almost dry.

Kyle Kingman:  “I think it is highly unlikely and completely inconsistent with numerous testimonies and other evidence that the pond (or anything but the ocean) contains Natalee's remains.”

THE COVER-UP

Aruban Minister of Justice, Rudy Croes, and then President/CEO of the Aruban Hotel and Tourism Association (AHATA) have both admited that a cover-up took place in the investigation of Natalee Holloway’s disappearance.

_______

FOX NEWS:  ON THE RECORD (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,462349,00.html)

John Q. Kelly, Attorney for Natalee Holloway’s family:  “The minister of justice, Rudy Croes, has now come out and publicly said that the police chief at the time in Aruba when Natalee Holloway disappeared, Jan van der Straaten, was clearly complicit with Paulus van der Sloot in covering up for Joran in the initial days after Natalee's disappearance.”

FOX NEWS:  ON THE RECORD (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,462349,00.html)

John Q. Kelly, Attorney for Natalee Holloway’s family:  “None of this is about Natalee and a missing young women, and you know, parents without child. It's a bunch of ego stuff right now. It's Van der Straaten apparently criticized the police investigators, his own investigators, this week. Rudy Croes in turn then came out and said, “What's Van der Straaten talking about?” He's the one that covered up with Paulus van der Sloot. We have a whole trail of phone calls between Van der Straaten and Van der Sloot in terms of what happened in the days after Natalee's disappearance. Van der Straaten, he went on to say, used his second-rate investigation team to -- to check into Natalee's disappearance initially and just, you know, covered the whole thing up, deliberately hindered the prosecution and investigation into Natalee's disappearance.”

BETH HOLLOWAY:  LOVING NATALEE (http://scaredmonkeys.net/index.php?topic=1177.0)

Page 194:  It's quiet in the room when i add, 'Oh, come on. Everyone knows there was a cover-up.' And to this, Jorge Pesquera, president and CEO of the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association, shrugs his shoulders, nods in the affirmative, and says softly, 'Yes...yes there was'."

Hi Janet,

I registered at the LifeTime site and tried to post a timeline to back up your data post's re: Beth and Dave, but the links didn't come through on the preview and the font was enormous!  You are kicking Hinky's rear over there though - very nice!

Anyway, I thought I'd back off and check with you first to see what you think would be the most effective use of time...

So, what's next?  How can I help?

Still need to re-post the combined messages from the night of the movie, what thread do you think?
