Cape couple questioned about missing Florida girl

SOUTH YARMOUTH – A local family has been questioned regarding the disappearance of a 6-year-old girl from Florida more than six months ago, according to law enforcement officials.

Deputies from a Florida sheriff’s office questioned the local couple Saturday afternoon at the South Yarmouth state police barracks in relation to the Feb. 10 disappearance of Haleigh Cummings, state police Sgt. Robert Finacom said. He referred all other questions to Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe.

“This is an ongoing investigation and the state police detectives assigned to my office are assisting the Florida authorities,” O’Keefe said Saturday night. “I’m not going to make any comments regarding an ongoing investigation.”

Haleigh disappeared in the middle of the night from her home in Satsuma, Fla. Her father’s girlfriend, 17-year-old Misty Croslin, put her to bed and was the last person to see the youngster. Haleigh’s father, Ronald Cummings, 25, was at work when she disappeared, according to published reports.

The case has received national attention, but there have been no arrests.

Ok, I am a regular lurker and only come out when i strongly feel that I have something important to be considered. In regards to the "Do You Like Me?" Myspace comment from Misty...I do not feel that she sent that comment. "Do You Like Me?" is a application/game that myspace users can add to their profile. This application will send comments to your myspace friends without your consent or approval of picture(it uses a random picture that you already have in your photo album). I use Myspace daily and constanly receive those comments from my friends who I know would never send me such a stupid thing intentionally. So pretty much it is SPAM.

So prehaps misty had that photo previously on her Myspace account and that application randomly chose it to SPAM her friends with...I hope this makes sense. I apolgize if not. I have been at work since 6pm and just got home(3:30AM) but felt that i needed to make it known that is VERY possible that Misty did not send that comment.

Wasn't there some confusion in the beginning about the police already being called out to the Croslin house earlier that night?  I remember a police call recording we listened to early on that we tried to dicipher about a call to the Croslins?

I can't quite figure some of them out, whether they truly belive Ron has had nothing to do with this, or they think he is hot. The Cape Cod Times are running an article that officers from a Florida Sheriffs office interviewed a local couple about the February 10th disappearance of then five year old Haleigh Cummings. The Cape Cod Times said:

    Deputies from a Florida sheriff’s office questioned the local couple yesterday afternoon at the South Yarmouth state police barracks in relation to the Feb. 10 disappearance of Haleigh Cummings, state police Sgt. Robert Finacom said. He referred all other questions to Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe.

Details are sketchy as to the identity of this couple. The South Yarmouth duty officer would not provide any hard information other than confirm that an interview had indeed taken place. He suggested that we should contact the detective involved for any additional information.

The timing of this interview has piqued my interest, if it was merely an anonymous tip, one of the 4000 plus that have been received by the Putnam County Sheriffs Office it would seem unlikely that they would follow it up on a long weekend. So the question becomes, is this a new tip? And if it is, where did it come from? Could it be as a result of the recent round of re-questioning the family members?

The timing also means that the press can effectively be stonewalled until Tuesday, is something afoot?

I have just got off a conference call with TJ Hart and William “Cobra” Staubs, and an interesting but maybe coincidental piece of information came to light. As best we can tell Misty Croslin’s older brother Timmy and his wife moved to Massachusetts some two months ago. Anecdotal stories claim that the move was because the state offered better social programs.

More information when we get it. Hopefully we will have an update for our radio program later today.

A family in South Yarmouth, Mass. has been questioned by authorities regarding the disappearance of six-year-old Florida girl, HaLeigh Cummings.

The Cape Cod Times reports that deputies from a Florida sheriff’s office questioned the couple on Saturday at the South Yarmouth state police headquarters in relation to the little girl’s disappearance over six months ago.

HaLeigh’s stepmother, Misty Cummings, recently failed a polygraph, and other tests regarding her knowledge about the little girl’s disappearance. Misty claimed to be home alone with HaLeigh and her little brother when the girl went missing Feb. 10, however, authorities have publicly stated Misty's story has repeatedly changed and is not credible.

If they have a forum I don't know anything about it, I basically stick to three forums and only post on this one. And one of the forums I read on really gets down and dirty, and I have no interest in posting there, I would never last  ::MonkeyEek::

That's what it sounded like in the beginning.  Then why did Misty ask Chelsea if Chelsea put a scratch in Misty's van?  Or am I hearing things?

Putnam County Sherriff has said that neither parent is considered a suspect BUT that MISTY is not being honest about what happened that night.   Sherriff has also said that it is NOT considered a stranger abduction. 

Misty had borrowed the van but it wasn't hers.  The van belongs to Chelsea and Tim or at least that's how I understand it.  Now we are hearing that Chelsea and Tim have moved to Cape Cod so that might be who was interviewed yesterday in Cape Cod.

The stuff going on in this case between the posters and the forums is pretty tame compared to the Jessica Lunsford, Natalee Holloway and Madeline McCann cases.

I know I am not the popular monkey here and that is ok, but I feel the need to say this. I have tried to say it before and well, it was not a popular opinion,but here goes again and I hope I do not get banned for it,but well, it is important for me to say.

I joined SM during Caylee's case because everyone was so much like a family and looked at things with an open mind. Attacking others for thoughts or beliefs was not allowed and name calling was not either. Neither was accusing someone of something because we did not like them. I am trying to figure out where the tide turned here and I do have an idea,but it is no matter now,what is done is done. When did SM start picking each other apart or calling names (Ronnettes/Crystalites) because of differing opinions? I love the monkey family and it hurts my heart to see what is happening here. No matter how we feel about the parents, yes parents, Crystal and Ron, they are the parents of a missing child. I have said before, convicting either one in the court of public opinion based on rumor is unfair and like kicking a man while he is down. The fact that Chelsea set her myspace to private right after the information was posted here hints to you they read here. I have never said anyone was innocent or guilty, I have not enough information or true facts to decide that,only rumors. I think the ones defending Ron are doing so not because they think he is hot or anything,but because he is the father of a missing child and has been torn to shreds on the blogs by those rumors put out there and kept out there by those trying to help Crystal get custody of the children. I know, it happened on his watch, yes and so did Lunsford , klaas and many others, does that make them guilty of something also? What happened to our family of monkeys? what happened to approaching everything with an open mind and not picking a fellow monkey apart because they have a differing opinion? does that not still apply to all monkeys? I have seen some chastised for saying something to a monkey on another thread (no, not talking about mlee-referring to the topix incident) and seen others get away with from little jabs at others to complete attacks on others, new monkeys have been attacked for differing thoughts and it slipped right by. I know that you mods are really busy and have a lot to do and can not be everywhere. I just feel like certain liberties are being taken by certain monkeys because "they know they can". Again, I am not trying to offend anyone, but trying to point out what I see happening. When did we become Ronnettes and Crystalites? I thought we were all monkeys? I have not been posting lately for many reasons but mainly because my heart is broken at what is happening here. I have been offended many times by a couple of monkeys on here but kept quiet and moved on, but I just feel I need to say this..someone commented about monkeys under the bus, I have been tossed there a few times on this thread. I am here because I care about HaLeigh and I love the monkeys, plain and simple. I assure you I was not paid by anyone to take up for Ron, I just feel we need to look at every angle. If we are going to sleuth,why not do it the way LE would? I am sure their opinions of Ron is part of what has held this investigation up, and then the inconsistent statements by Misty just added to it,now a new investigator with an open mind with no bias and the case is breaking. This has been my point all along, open mind,every possible angle. I miss my monkey family and how we use to be and I am heartbroken at where it is. It is what it is though sadly. I was the monkey that pointed out the le was already at Croslins when one was dispatched to Green Ln and was told that was not the case,they were there for HaLeigh call,but I knew what I heard, I let it drop. When I commented to IM that it was funny my sons psychologist said one thing and hers said another, I was trying to point out how trained professionals have differing opinions on things and how different they were, she responded with trying to make me look like a liar by posting one article of her choosing to support her words,and there are other instances as well by/to others, I only used this latest that upset me because I felt I needed to get that off my chest as well,but that is what I am talking about,this did not use to happen on SM. I love you all and my heart breaks at what I see happening here. This is just my opinion and my feelings, but you all and SM means so much to me, I miss my monkey family greatly. Searching - the above is my response to your long post as well.  I have seen it all.  What is happening in the Haliegh case is nothing new.

I take issue with you starting your post like this ( "I know I am not the popular monkey here and that is ok, but I feel the need to say this. And I didn't see anyone accusing anyone HERE at SM of being a Ronette or a Crystalitte (sp).  The posts were in discussion to the blogs and twitters and forums that exist for them. 

I wasn't on any forum with Jessica Lunsford, but Madeline and Natalee, yes that can get very bad. Also heard that the Scott Peterson forums got pretty wild as well.

I backed off from posting in blogs except late at night (can't sleep) when most are in dream land and then I try not to make waves. I do not like to make waves and I hope you know that. My first comment was from feeling that way, I did say in my post,these are my feelings, and it is because I said good night to all monkeys the other night and nothing. I posted a couple posts right before that and nothing. The fact is, I did not come here to be popular, I came here to help all of you special caring people figure these stumpers out and help find these missing persons. Again, I love all of you monkeys and we are a monkey family, I miss being here also.  My main hope is that HaLeigh is found alive and soon. This case has just been one that I will never forget.

FCL, there was an officer there at the Croslins when officers were dispatched to Green Ln. The officer @ Tyler asked what was going on at Green when the officer responding to Green was trying to find it. Trying to type this fast because I am suppose to be out with the family so hope it makes sense.

Also wanted to say this could all be bs, my thoughts/theory, but let's face it if Misty did this alone I'd think the body would be close and very easily found, jmo. What do you think is up with that? That they have info, or that they were involved? I don't think they were involved but sure might have info, but seven months later, you would think this talking to them would have all been done. Unless something came up that LE needs to talk to them again  ::MonkeyConfused::

I agree with the both of you on that.

Maybe when they went over the phone records with a fine tooth comb recently something stood out. Also, Misty's new info obtained by TM seems to have caused LE to re-interview Tommy and his wife also. Interestin read in that article referred to the DA's office and IIRC, they are would be able to offer immunity for info vs LE. Just tossing that out there as I really have no idea.

Good post!  I do agree with you for the most part, the only exception is that I don't think of you as an unpopular monk, am sorry that you feel that way.  I know what it feels like to just want to say your opinion and have that not go over very well.   Seems to me anyway, that from back in the day, you've only tried to say what's on your mind.   There is something missing from back in the day, the comraderie, not sure, can't exactly put my finger on it.  Maybe part of it is pure frustration with being in these same cases for a good length of time and not much justice for the victims happening yet.  Am just not sure.  But I do miss you, your posting, and the way it was.   

We do need to continue to look at this case and others from all angles, no matter if others agree or not.  IMO.  It's the beauty of this board, that we can each have our own opinions and not get hammered for them.  At least that's the way it used to be, and it seems that most monks still hold to that.  When some don't, or when squabbles arise over something, I tend to post less.  Have learned the hard way that it doesn't do much good to leap into the fray.  Heh.  Am guessing that some of our long-time monks could be doing the same.  Lurking and just reading sux tho.  Could be why it feels like there is less comraderie, than before.  Hard to feel like comrade monks when we're hanging in the rafters.   ::MonkeyTongue::

I had posted a request if anyone could remember reading about a PDM employee saying that Ron told him he had to leave work...and he wasn't going HOME.  This was during the shift time.  Recently there was a post by a witness that stated that Ron had gone to someone's place to collect monies owed and said that he also had a handgun.

This has all been put on the back burner, as LE said they are satisfied with Ron's work hours, and of course they have cellphone pings to prove as well.

I know noone wants to keep hearing me drumming on the same topic over and over.  But, I wonder if someone can enlighten me as far as the cellphone pings.

Let me as this question.  If the cellphone was in Ron's possession, it would ping when he was near a tower, correct???  OK, now what if Ron was at work, decided to LEAVE, left his CELLPHONE AT WORK....went about his merry way...returned...

Would the pings still show that RON WAS AT WORK???  or maybe I should say that the CELLPHONE WAS AT WORK!!!!

First of all, Klaas ..Thank you for that reply.  After the following was posted it just got my thoughts stirred a bit more.  Nothing in this case appears to be a cut and dried situation.  No question asked, gets a descent answer.  Just could not accept the timeline considering all of the other round abouts that have been taking place.

In short, I’m not buying it.

(1) The same twitter site that released today’s information had also said that LE was upset with them for releasing the conversation with TM. The following 2 tweets are from their twitter site in the past 24 hours:

(2) Another reason I’m having trouble buying today’s article is this statement by Rev. Terry Wright, Senior Pastor at Dunn’s Creek Baptist Church:

A well respected Minister, who also happens to be the Pastor for Sheriff Jeff Hardy, and CNN somehow carries more weight with me when saying EIGHT hours than a radio reporter from Sky973 saying TEN hours.

(3) I seem to get a surprising amount of information sent to me. Some from sources I know, some not. Some credible, some not. I received an e-mail on July 23rd containing the following information:

-There are employees that have said Ron was at work that night.

- He was late, and he was drunk...he was seen around 5:30-6:00 that evening not at work and drinking. He was possibly sent home early due to drinking.

-There are ATM records showing he used the machine before his 3 AM shift ended, proving he left early..

A few days later I received specific contact information for a man who lives in Palatka alleging to have verification of RC’s whereabouts on the night Haleigh disappeared.

He is the Belcher Tree Service customer who got an unexpected visit from his drunken, gun wielding tree service guy at 6:00 pm on 2/09/09, looking for fast cash.

After sitting on it for a month, I asked a devoted local poster to contact this guy and get his story to see if it checked out. I received this e-mail from her a couple of days later (Verification of my permission to post this e-mail has been furnished to our mod, TG):

I asked the time if it was around 5:30-6:30ish and he said no it was much later than that, but that he couldn't remember exact times now since it was almost 7 months ago, BUT that it was much later than 5:30-6:30 to his recollection! He also said that LE took his statement so they have it and no they didn't tape him. Mr Xxxx is pleasant older sounding guy.

So...interesting, eh? WOW... Mr. Xxxx hadn't heard the latest breaking stuff that went on today about polygraphs and Misty...so I quickly filled him in and he said, yeah that youngin' knows more than she's been saying! I thanked him again for sharing with me and satisfying my curiosity.

I have sent this information to Agent Jason Jolicoeur with the FDLE with pertinent names, numbers, and e-mails in place.

There's no way I can believe this new timeline.

not saying whether i believe he was there the whole time either but a day or so ago someone mentioned pics of pdm and whether or not it would be easy to leave unnoticed... i can't wouldn't want to do a screen freeze because you should really look around the whole area but pdm's address is 229 comfort rd 32177... do a google earth search of it and check it out... i know i myself was expecting a building... this is mostly airplane hanger type structures/outdoor areas and a waterway right beside it... IMO he could have definitely left unnoticed and as far as the cell tower pings... they are not accurate to a t maybe a 2-3 mile distance depending on how many towers are in the area... if it is a really rural area then there might be a larger distance if that makes sense... the casey anthony pings would have been more pinpointing and accurate do to it being a more populated area and perhaps or at least i would assume having more towers for more cell traffic... that's why when you are in the boonies you get a low or no signal... you are out of range of a tower...

I've seen pics of pdm also, and I agree he could have very easily left unnoticed.

My only thought on this is Ron is/was a crane operator right? We all agree with that?  How does a big piece of equipment like a crane suddenly stop it's work, I assume go to the parking area and no one notice it.  I mean my understanding of heavy equipment is constant contact for safety?  But what do I know about what Ron's job is, just my thoughts and questions?  Did he clear with those around him he was leaving?  Or was Ron the only guy working in a certain space that night all alone with a crane and nobody cared?

Also I believe in the last thread HigherHopes? posted pictures of PDMn that she went there and took?

Oh, and about the video of Cobra, I would think he has enough to worry about without talking about other people, he keeps saying that this case ruined his career, well hells bells, why is he still involving himself in it then, he needs to go find something else to do before he gets hit with a slander suit and has to get back on the net and ask for more donations....MOO!

Guess I will have to rest my case for now.  I know that there have been nothing but lies and diversions in this case so far.

When I can locate that article I read, then I will be back posting it.  But until then, I cannot see a reason for this gent to lie....but we all know there are many reasons that Ron and Misty keep lieing about the events that took place.

By the way, wonder what LE found out about Misty's cellphone that night.  Was hers also left...at home maybe...while she was scurrying the roads???

Same goes for the bus stop....what actually took place that they want RON to be at the bus stop instead of somewhere else.  We know the bus driver and Mr. Santos stated they seen Misty at the bus stop.  What was Ron doing at this time, where actually was he? if not at the bus stop. I think Cobra should learn to sharpen his tongue a bit....or a lot in the case of Crystal's video.  I know he gets frustrated like many of us do, however, this is regarding a missing child we are talking about, and I would think that he should think about the language he is using, especially when he is being taped.

this may be really disjointed and i apologize in advance. ron works with heavy equipment right?  and in the beginning ron only took perscription drugs...and all of those drug charges that amounted to nothing.  i would assume that working in a construction type of environment that he would be drug tested (only an assumption ) so even if he listed what the doctor gave him, i don't understand how he got hired even taking (legally) drugs that state 'do not use while operating heavy equipment'?

Ya know, Cobra and his "bunch" appears (to me anyway) that they are doing all they can do taking the focus off Misty and digging up dirt on Chrystal.  Grant you Chrystal is in the same boat as most all that bunch and she has not been the vocal advocate for Haleigh that she should be BUT she was not there when her daughter disappeared.  Misty was the last person to see that little child NOT Chrystal.  Ron did not advocate for Haleigh either.  The courts told him to retain custody he had to let his mother and ggm look after his daughter and son while he worked.  He took it upon himself to put his and Chrystals most precious children in the care of a young, immature, spiteful, drug addicted little baby herself who has now LOST one of his children and what does he do?  HE MARRIES HER.  Un-freckin-believable.  Neither children deserved this and I have believed from the beginning that child services would have done both a favor by removing them from the cusody of either parent until they grew up and could take responsibility for what they brought into this world.  It is too late for that.  With the rap sheets of all involved in this and the enabling going on down there I put a majority of this on the doorsteps of child services for not protecting those children (JMO) and on the LE (JMO again) for screwing this up from the beginning.  Anytime you have to bring in someone as "a new set of eyes" to view the investigation tells me they screwed it up from the beginning (either on purpose or from lack of "want" to do the right thing).  JUST MY OPINION.  Instead of digging into Chrystal's background THEY need to focus on who was with this little girl last.

Also, strange thing is Ron and Misty had a terrible fight that night.  His mother (or ggm-don't remember) went over to the trailer to take back washed clothes.  Did Ron send his mother/or gm to check up on Misty and this set her off?  What did she find when she entered the trailer and who was there?  Bet you she called Ron first and ratted out Misty and this set Misty off and Misty then called Ron exploding about the interference from his mother/gm.  JMO  (oh, I don't for a minute believe Ron's mother/gm went to that trailer that night--she waited too long before she told it to LE. They are all playing a frigging game.)  JMO

Thats the way I see it too, Cobra and this bunch are just causing undue gossip that has nothing to do with finding Haleigh, I just wish if they were gonna discuss the case, they would just discuss the case and stop with all the he said she said crap...

also not questioning those pics since i haven't even seen them but if you look on google earth at the entire area... i didn't even see a big fence... is it possible that the fence part is only around the office area or the building that you would go in to punch in?
it seems to me that there were a lot of ways to get in and out unnoticed especially even if you are on foot.... i am not saying he did this and i don't even think that i believe he did but for the sake of devil's advocate... child in suitcase in trunk could very easily be carried across the street to the water if someone wanted to especially at night

The whole deal about police questioning Tim and Chelsea this weekend is quite interesting to me. I feel the van issue has something to do with her disappearance. What, I don't know. LE did keep it for quite some time, doing tests on it though.

Nancy Grace treated Crystal like she was a serial killer, she interrogated her like she was Ted Bundy. What a way to "break a Case". Granny-S and Aunt Lisa, (possibly, Alisa Squires,)visited on the laundry run, what was up with that? Spying, IMO, all female spy, that is in our nature. Misty resented the fact they showed up, knowing very well they were on a mission of being tattlers.
I admire the monkeys for investigating the cell phones towers, I think that is hysterically funny. Ron and Misty should be just as afraid of the clever monkeys skills and determination.  IMO

Yes, it is very difficult to believe anyone's statements.  We have had many discussions since the beginning without much said by LE.  Until it is actually proven then we have to just sit on it and hope that the truth will be brought to the surface.

well most places do a drug test at hire and then make you sign something that says you agree to randoms if asked or else lose your job if you refuse... that being said... most scripts usually stay in your system longer then street drugs especially if you are a steady user... some dr.s even drug test their own patients to make sure that they are taking the scripts and not selling them instead, i know this because i have a friend of the family who was in a bad car accident with his wife years ago and they were both severly injured mangled foot etc back problems etc... anyways years later he had medical insurance and she did not so he shared his percs with her (he was taking at least 15 a day and would get a months worth at a time) anyways when he asked for more per month they started testing him and they could tell that he was not taking all of them within a margin of 2  a day...
if ron did disclose his scripts then they shouldn't have hired him for machine operations... also you raise a question in my head do we even no for a fact that that is what he did... the reason i ask is i'm pretty sure you need to have a cdl (could be wrong on the name) license to use those... does he have one? if not i don't see a major company hiring him to do that type of stuff

I just got caught up on reading this thread and see it is Searching's Birthday.

I looked for a birthday thread to post my wishes to her, but did not see one.

i can see the fence now... google earth looked like a cloudy day but i don't get why i couldn't see the fence in those pics... weird... what is also weird is all the gates seem to be somewhat permanently closed looking like with padlocks and what not... not that that means anything just an observation... it just seems like the one with the employee parking sign has been locked for a long time and it doesn't seem to lead anywhere

I think that if Ron left his crane unattended for any amount of time it would be noticed..anytime you see heavy equipment being run, there is usually always a "spotter" guy around that I have seen...I don't think that Ron would be in an area all alone, especially since he is/was fairly new to working there...The company would be worried for his safety and for the safety of that expensive equipment I would guess...Does OSHA show up in Florida to make sure that rules are being followed? jmo

Am thinking the "info" that some of these guys have supposedly learned and shared on the internet and interviews on radio/audio has started a lot of crap, fueled more rumors than not, IMO, rather than help explain things as they are.  Mainly I suppose because LE doesn't usually confirm that "info" to be true or not. 
 

I think that if Ron wanted to leave his place of employment he could, it was the middle of the night, it only takes him 25 minutes to get back home or less if he wanted to drive like hell, things are easier to get by with in the middle of the night, people are more lax in watching things, Ive seen it before at other places, Im sure Ronald knew his way around this place and if he had never done anything bad before then he might not have been being watched as closely, either way, I think he knew what he could get away with and when...IMO

I have no idea at this place of work, but I have worked at places that people have ducked out for a period of time and hardly anyone noticed, and this was in the daytime. So who knows how lax the working conditions are there?

Yea, thats what I think too.  I wonder what kind of stuff was discussed with Timmy and his wife yesterday, Im glad the LE is moving right alone with this case since they got a little more info from Misty's tests, maybe, just maybe she will help this case get solved without even meaning to...

I agree someone is lying about the bus stop, and I don't think it's the driver or the other parents.  None of them have any reason to lie, IMO.  We have Misty picking her up, no wait it was Ron, ermmm actually it was Gma.  WTH??  Honestly, could they all have picked her up, and why would they, not to mention why not just say that then.  Without the run around.   The inability to give a simple answer is what makes us sit up and pay attention.   At first I wondered if maybe NO ONE picked Haleigh up, and that's what they were trying to hide.  But others outside of the family said they saw Misty pick her up, and for now, that's who I'll believe. 

Many of us have wondered from the start why can't Ron/family and Misty give a straight answer to such a simple question.  Can't figure out why there would be such a big secret about it.  What is it about Misty picking Haleigh up, that they didn't want known? 

Rumors have it that some in town knew that Misty was driving at times, even without a license, she supposedly also picked up her bro's kids on other days.  Sometimes in a vehicle sometimes walking. 

So if those rumors are true, it doesn't seem to be anything to try and keep secret, IMO.  Seems that would be the least of their worries regarding that day/night. 

So what was different about that afternoon that a big secret of WHO picked up Haleigh needed to be kept, to the point of telling lies about it?  Did something happen on the way home that afternoon?  And what could that have possibly been? 

It just doesn't make any sense. 

   

Wyks, I just don't get it, just come right out and say who the heck picked up Haleigh and get it over with, there would be no reason for others to lie about who came to the bus stop, I see no point in lying about that. Maybe it is that Misty picked her up and since she doesn't have a license that was why they lied, that's the least of their problems, driving without a license.

so, some are thinking that they lied about who picked Haleigh up at the bus stop cause Misty was driving without a license and did not want LE to know that?  Misty also smokes in public and she shouldn't be doing that either since it is against the law to smoke at her age isn't it? who knows with all these characters involved...I don't believe any of them tell the truth...

Sure do wish we knew what the AC man saw, heard, etc, if anything.  Kind of interesting that in all this mess, he's the one person who is beyond quiet.  Makes me wonder if LE asked him to stay quiet, perhaps having info they'll need at trial?

Remember when LE released their Round Table results.  There were many tests that had not been done and many tips that had not been checked out as well.  We all were WTH???

I know this is a looonnnggg shot, but is it possible that maybe LE just got back the test results for the van in question.

Maybe LE did take samples, etc...but never sent them in to be analyzed.  Now....maybe they did find something of interest.

I was just wondering the same thing.....

That could be, they sure seemed to take their sweet time getting the results, they sure could have found something.

I dunno Cookie, am just brainstorming, is all.  It's true what you say about her smoking, and she sure didn't seem to be a bit concerned with who saw her doing that.  Almost flippant about it, IMO, knowing the cameras were aimed right at her at the time.  So in that respect, I kinda doubt she was worried about driving without a license. 

Altho.... it could be that the seeming lies and possible coverup re the bus stop might not be a concern of hers but someone else, such as Gma and Ron.  Lets say for a minute that either or both of them suddenly realized what it might look like to Social Services for an unlicensed minor to be driving Ron's kids around everyday.  Someone may have suddenly decided they better say they picked her up, since the whole world was looking in at that point. 

Heck I dunno.  Am reaching for possibilities..........

I think Misty's tests and the things she said gave detectives some more things to look at, they went and wuestioned Tommy and his Wife as soon as Misty made thoise statements in her LDT video, Nancy Grace had people back on her show when they came out also, and now LE has went to question Timmy and his wife which was something else she mentioned during her tests, Im trying to think of anything else she mentioned and see if we hear within the next few days that LE has gone to check up on something else that she mentioned, then we will know if thats why they are doing all this..IMO

Isn't/wasn't Joe on probation in TN while he was visiting FL, and if so, maybe that's why he hotfooted it back so quickly.  I dunno, is someone on probation allowed to leave the state without getting permission first?  Did we hear if LE went to TN before, to question him, or if they just asked TN authorities to question him?

Some folks elsewhere on the net are wondering if LE went to visit Misty's bro and sis in law, and I'm thinking that's exactly who they went to see.  It makes sense.  They just questioned one bro and sis in law, why not the other pair.  If the "couple" that was just questioned isn't Misty's other bro and sis in law, maybe it's the sis in law's parents in Mass.  That would make sense to me too, perhaps to validate whatever may have been said to LE by either Misty/bro or sis in law. 

Personally, I think it's kind of hinky that Misty's bro and sis in law up and moved so far away, while all this is going on.  Especially given that their 3rd baby had just been born, and all.  Seems an odd time to be moving, but that's just my opinion, for the 2 cents it's worth.  LOL   ::MonkeyTease::

IIRC, Joe was questioned and I believe his is in prison now for shooting someone while trying to steal a car (I could go back and search the records if needed).

Regarding the move, I've been thinking about that and to me IF her family is there and they just had another baby, maybe they went so she could be around family and help with the kids etc. I know my dad just retired and moved here and it was so hard on him when I moved away with his only grandkids and now I rely on him for so much .........he's been a huge help in getting so to football and helping out in that area as I'm clueless, so maybe they left for nefarious reasons or maybe she just wanted to be closer to her family.

My son saw them and told me "Now I'm going to have nightmares ::MonkeyDevil:: ), and I looked and they have a facebook too!!!!! OMG, endless nights of laughter.

I went back to my notes about the van because I needed to refresh my memory on what we have been told about it. I will share them here. The news source I got these from was cbs47 but the exact page is gone now.

Chelsea Croslin said the night Haleigh disappeared, a family member was staying with them. She says around 4 a.m., when Misty called them to tell them Haleigh was missing, they went outside to the van to drive to Haleigh’s home. Chelsea said she immediately noticed the van was not in the same spot she left it.

1 - Chelsea Croslin told me that Lindsy (who lives on Tyler St) owns the van. Chelsea had borrowed the van that weekend....she & husband live near Crescent City. A drunk driver had totalled their vehicle. She said that she is 6 months pregnant and always parks as close to the back steps as she can. But when Misty phoned her about Haleigh being missing and she went outside to get in the van that it was parked differently. Later, she returned the van to Lindsy. Then *Lindsy* phoned her and said please tell me you're the one who put the scratch in my van....and Chelsea said she had not....So, they believe Joe Overstreet, the cousin, who had stayed at Chelsea's home had taken the van during the night.

#2 - Chelsea said that she didn't know cousin Joe very well, that he was an estranged family member who had moved to Tenn. When Haleigh disappeared, she said Joe was very nervous/scared --- but not for Haleigh -- but because police wanted to talk to him. He kept telling her he couldn't talk to police because he wasn't even supposed to be out of the state of Tenn. And he immediately left to go back home. She hasn't spoken to him since, but she said his family in Tenn even said he was acting very very scared. And she said in piecing all the suspicious circumstances together - the van being parked in a different spot, the scratch on the van, Joe being nervous & scared, and comments about his demeanor since....she definitely has her suspicions. She said the latest search down the stretch of Hwy 17 was to look for items along the road that might be scratched with the blue paint from the van and to look for any belongings of Haleigh's.

It was said by Misty Croslin's parents while they were doing a interview with CBS47.com...They said "The light blue colored Van the police had taken for evidence belonged to their daughter in law it was drove that day by the cousin Joe and he had returned the van with a gash down the side of it" They also said about the fight with Ronald and Joe " There was a fight between Ronald and Joe because Joe stole Ronald's gun and Joe said that Ronald would get what was coming to him...Joe left the day Haleigh disappeared."

I have many references to cousin Joe, maybe I'll put them together in a while.

Do we know for sure Misty doesn't have a license?

I remember researching this some time ago. (I don't know why I can't find my previous posts on it using the forum software.)

But as I recall, Florida does not allow 16 year olds who are not in school to have a driver's license. So, she would not have had a valid license at that time.

Hello, everyone!  Don't usually post here (more in Caylee's), but do try to keep up reading when I can.  Just wanted to point out that crane operators do leave the cab (mandatory safety breaks, night shift dinner, etc.).  They also have periods where they are waiting on someone else to complete a task before they can do their part, which sometimes entails turning the crane off, leaving the vehicle, and an unplanned break (depending on the cause for the holdup and how long it takes to solve the problem).  Saying all this to say, did Ron eat dinner with his co-workers in a break area?  Did the job have any holdups that night?  I knew someone who worked various shifts and they left the jobsite sometimes.  They had guys sneak out, so it's entirely possible Ron did.  I would think though that LE would check security cams at the job site, nearby intersections, any businesses in question, etc.  JMO

Seems that FL handles giving the DL out in stages, like an interim license or whatever they call it.  Maybe since she's married now, even tho a minor and not in school, she's allowed to have that in-between license until she's 18?

I find it hard to believe that any construction site wouldn't have a number of cameras.  That equipment isn't cheap and neither are materials (like copper tubing and fittings) that tend to be stolen and resold at a huge profit.  Hhhmm.

Could be that GMA or Ron didn't want it announced on TV to their car insurance company that GMA/Ron was letting an unlicensed minor drive his vehicle?  Or possibly they were worried about the school refusing to release Haleigh to Misty?  Does FL require written permission from the parent/Guardian on who can pick up a child?

Investigators interviewed Timothy Croslin and his wife Saturday as they searched for clues that might help them find Haleigh, 6, who disappeared from her Satsuma, Fla., home on Feb. 9, according to Putnam County Sheriff spokesman Lt. Johnny Greenwood.

Croslin’s sister, Misty, 17, was the last person to see Haleigh. She told police she tucked the little girl into bed the night of Feb. 10 while her boyfriend, and Haleigh’s father, Ronald Cummings, 25, was away at work.

Misty, who police say is not a suspect, has given authorities conflicting details of what happened that evening and flunked a lie-detector test.

“If we can determine what happened that night, we’d be a lot closer to bringing Haleigh home,” Greenwood said.

Timothy Croslin could not be reached; neither could Misty Croslin nor Ronald Cummings.

Putnam County Sheriff agents and officials with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement traveled to the Cape to interview Croslin, Greenwood said, but he wouldn’t say why.

According to the Cape Cod Times, the Florida investigators were following up on a tip Haleigh was spotted at an Abington Walmart. Haleigh is 3 feet tall and weighs about 40 pounds.

Not in my state, unless you want an extended visit at the Penitentary Paradise resort.  LOL!  I'm pretty sure that violates every state's probation.  Some probation docs I've read limit traveling within the state as well.  ITA on the timing of the move, especially with a new baby.  Who has time to sleep, much less pack and coordinate a move/school transfer/finding lodging/interviewing and securing a new job?

Wyks- it's hard to try and think like Ron, Misty, and GMA.  Almost as hard as trying to think like the Anthonys!   ::MonkeyLaugh::  I'm just thinking Ron's already: got a police record; a minor live-in girlfriend (Statutory rape), who can't seem to keep her stories the truth straight; children being supervised by a minor child during an ongoing custody dispute; and allegations of rampant drug use by that  minor.  The last thing Ron needed was Child Protective Services "in his business", by their own choice or by school reports.  Call me naive, but: don't FL schools report truency (Misty); doesn't anyone report known minors driving children around/picking them up from school; and doesn't anyone report minor girls living with older men?  Maybe I'm just nosy...IDK.  *sigh*

Thanks Blumonkey!  I should have been off hours ago truthfully.  I'm sneaking in here hoping to see Haleigh's been found.  Like everyone else, I've had it with irresponsible parents and perpetrators too!  Ron should be charged with criminal neglect, leaving those children with a minor (particularly if the minor has been abusing drugs/alcohol, driving the children w/o a license).  i think the judicial system needs a major overhaul when it comes to parental cases.  Anyone charged with domestic abuse/anger management issues shouldn't get a second chance.  If you haven't learned self-control by the time you're 18, chances are good you'll never learn.

Report: Haleigh Tip Leads To New England
Newspaper Says Deputies Talked With Massachusetts Couple

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Cape Cod Times is reporting that Putnam County authorities traveled to the town of South Yarmouth, Mass., as part of the investigation into Haleigh Cummings' disappearance.

The newspaper said a couple there was questioned about the missing 6-year-old.

The published report said the couple was interviewed at the South Yarmouth State police barracks. The police chief said they are cooperating with the Florida investigators but did not comment on why the couple was questioned.

Haleigh vanished from her home in Satsuma on Feb. 10. She was 5 years old at the time.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said from the day an Amber Alert was issued that they believed Haleigh was taken.

Investigators have followed thousands of leads in the case but have not identified anyone who may have taken the girl.

Our panel this week consisted of the Barrett’s, TJ Hart, Denny Griffin, William “Cobra” Staubs, and Art Harris.

I had a feeling it was going to be a lively program and I was right. A lot is happening in this case, and it is happening very quickly. Sure, it has taken six months, but suddenly the wheels are beginning to fall off the wagon.

Interestingly enough, most of the recent movement has not been (or at least does not appear to have been) engineered by Law Enforcement. The primary players seem to be the ones heck bent on self destruction. Neither Ronald Cummings nor Crystal Shefeild scored any positive points by appearing on the Nancy Grace program this week. Ronald Cummings was so evasive that I doubt that if Nancy Grace had asked him what his name was, she would have got a straight answer!

Crystals performance the following evening was equally appalling. Crystal was not evasive, she just came across as being completely clueless. When asked what time Haleigh got out of school each day, she did not know! This hardly paints a picture of the ideal, (all be it absent) mother.

I watched these two ‘non-interviews’ with interest, clearly the gloss was beginning to flake on Nancy. I am sure that if it were not for the FCC regulations, she would have let them both know exactly what she thought of them.

Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch also had some interesting things to say this week concerning the case.

An as yet unidentified couple living in Massachusetts were interviewed by Florida Law Enforcement officials on Saturday.

So, with this background, we went on air. I think it would be fair to say it was an interesting 90 minutes. Did we learn anything new? This is a question often leveled at me. I would say, yes we did. While all of us panelists talk together regularly, it is infrequent that we get to pool all of the information.

Denny Griffin started one line of questioning, and before you could say  Satsuma, a whole lot of information started to jell. The PCSO has all but exonerated Ronald Cummings, but maybe they are wrong. There are a number of aspects to Ronald’s story that cause a lot more questions to be asked.

Those questions begin at 3am when he clocked out from work.

It was interesting to put together everyones research, and the result was thought provoking.

Most people are focused on Misty Croslin-Cummings as holding the key to Haleigh’s abduction, and indeed I subscribe to the school of thought that she does know a lot more than what she is sharing. However, I also believe that Ronald Cummings knows a whole lot more than what he is telling.

Here is the dilemma, Ron and Misty have a dust up at 8:30pm on the cell phones, the issue is over something trivial, Misty wants to babysit the following evening, Ron does not want her to. Who were the kids? Early reports had them as family, maybe nephews, but, like so much else with this case, that trail went cold. The upshot of the argument was that Misty turned her phone off at 8:30pm.

At 3am Ron leaves work. He drives to a convenience store and buys beer, smokes, peanuts, and whatever. Then he drives home to discover that Haleigh is missing.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE TRUCK

In the voice analysis interview Misty points fingers at her brother Tommy, saying he raped her as a child, and could have done something to Haleigh. She then says people claim they saw a red truck near the house that night (we know Tommy was there smoking marijuana earlier that evening) Tommy drove a red truck that he sold after Haleigh disappeared. The day after the interviews, Miller asked Misty if she knew where the truck was. She had mentioned to us she knew who had bought it and Miller wanted to see the location. Ronald and Misty took Miller to the guy’s house who had bought the truck. Although it wasn’t there at the time, Miller returned to the location with me right after and we recorded the address and went to the police with the info. The title was never transferred to the new owner so the truck is still listed in Misty and Tommy’s mother name. The police were going to get the truck and process it.  Hopefully it’s not too late.

Tim Miller never gives up, he wanted that truck located and processed and he knew Misty would help him. Why didn’t Misty ever tell police about the truck location? Because Misty trusted Tim Miller. Miller’s daughter Laura was murdered in 1984, they never found out who did it, although Tim has a few ideas. Miller refused a 16 Million dollar settlement with the police dept that was investigating Laura’s case.  He just wanted what was left of his daughter’s bones so he could bury them. Tim Miller turned down money for the Misty tapes. He just wanted them released to put pressure on Misty and hopefully crack her. How dare Misty Cummings make up such a story about a man who attempt to do so much good for people. Misty Cummings is a liar, I know it, the police know it and she knows it.

Good Morning, thanks to all for articles, notes kept to refresh, I know I needed that, about Misty's license, that is what I thought, but now that she is 17 she has one. I have also read that comment.  Did not specifically say which Convenient store he was at, unless I missed an address.  Then, why would he have reason to go home, remember he supposedly DID NOT KNOW HaLeigh was missing at that time.

I don't see any problem with this, as I myself try to complete all errands before heading home, especially since it is 3AM...why go home, head back out for purchases.

But considering all the facts so far..hard to say his intentions.

I was just thinking along the lines of the arguement he had with Misty, and then her turning the phone off, I would want to go home first to see what is going on.

True indeed....but he may have already known, just wasteing time possibly.  One article I read stated that it was on his route home, and another said it was not.  I think there are more than one convenience stores in that area.

According to the Cape Cod Times, the Florida investigators were following up on a tip Haleigh was spotted at an Abington Walmart. Haleigh is 3 feet tall and weighs about 40 pounds.

I don't find it unusual that Ron went to the store first before going  home...don't most people stop for something at the store on their way home after work rather than going home first and then going back out? like anyone else who had just gotten off of work, it would seem that one would do their errands right after work and then you would be able to relax for the rest of the evening...dunno...that is what I did when I worked and needed something at the store, went right after work...everyone is different though...

SOUTH YARMOUTH — A local family has been questioned regarding the disappearance of a 6-year-old girl from Florida more than six months ago, according to law enforcement officials.

Deputies from a Florida sheriff's office questioned the local couple yesterday afternoon at the South Yarmouth state police barracks in relation to the Feb. 10 disappearance of Haleigh Cummings, state police Sgt. Robert Finacom said. He referred all other questions to Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe.

"This is an ongoing investigation and the state police detectives assigned to my office are assisting the Florida authorities," O'Keefe said last night.

"I'm not going to make any comments regarding an ongoing investigation."

Haleigh disappeared in the middle of the night from her home in Satsuma, Fla. Her father's girlfriend, 17-year-old Misty Croslin, put her to bed and was the last person to see the youngster. Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, 25, was at work when she disappeared, according to published reports.

The case has received national attention, but there have been no arrests.

It’s the first time I’ve heard Misty Cummings explain why she says she washed the blanket and put it back over 5 year old Haleigh Cummings before she put her to bed at 8 p.m. Feb. 9, then went to bed herself.

“It smelled like pee,” she says under artful questioning by private investigator T.J. Ward of Atlanta, who administered the layered voice analysis test two weeks ago at the request of Tim Miller’s Texas Equusearch and Misty herself. “Who’s going to cover up a kid with a blanket that smells like pee?” she asks Ward.

The Bald Truth is posting exclusively a copy of Misty’s signed consent form, and the actual voice analysis report, including graphs of Misty’s voice that Ward says shows a lot of stress –and deception — in its peaks and valleys.

Misty claims she washed the blanket, although husband Ronald later said there was no detergent in the house; his grandmother, Annette Sykes, has said she dropped off clean clothes that day.

Voice stress testing is not as widely accepted as reliable compared to traditional polygraphs used by law enforcement as an investigative tool, but Ward says it’s unique –and gaining wider acceptance with outfits like the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department — and can reveal degrees of truth or falsity in real time as an individual tells a story.

“I just asked her to tell me the story of what happened the last day anyone saw Haleigh alive, Feb. 9 and 10, and let her ramble,” Ward tells The Bald Truth in an exclusive interview.

at least she still has her life, more than we know about little Haleigh!  I don't feel that sorry for Misty...she has made her choices...she may be only 17 in years but she is a lot older and wiser than her "age" if you ask me..

I am gonna chime in on this as well.

I worked at night almost my entire career. I would stop at the store on the way home many times. Occasionally I would drive past my house to a store located farther away. And Ron stopped for cigarettes? Well, I used to also, and I would not go home before I bought them if I was out. I'd go to a store past my house if that was the only place open that sold them.

Then I would go home.

Unless there were some emergency or reason for me to get home right away, and I don't think Ron knew about any emergencies when he was on his way home.

Just my 2¢.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- The Cape Cod Times is reporting that Putnam County investigators traveled to South Yarmouth, Mass., as part of the investigation into Haleigh Cummings' disappearance.

The newspaper said Timothy Croslin, the brother of Haleigh's stepmother, and his wife were questioned about the missing 6-year-old after a possible sighting of the girl at an area Walmart. Croslin lives in the area.

The published report said the couple was interviewed at the South Yarmouth State Police barracks. The police chief said they are cooperating with the Florida investigators, but did not comment on why the couple was questioned.

Haleigh's grandmother, Annette Sykes, spoke to Channel 4 on Monday after hearing about the report.

"There's always hope," Sykes said. "They have enough cameras in them Walmart stores and maybe they got one that got a picture of her. And if they did, if they actually have a picture of her, then we can get happy. We may all have to go up there and tear that town apart."

On Monday, a reporter for the Cape Cod Times told Channel 4 that her newspaper received a tip to ask state police about the questioning of Croslin and his wife.

"The sergeant there on duty that day said, 'Yes, in fact, the Florida county Sheriff's department is here interviewing a local family, and that's really all I can say,'" reporter K.C. Myers said. "And he referred all other questions to the district attorney's office."

The district attorney refused to elaborate, saying his office was assisting the Florida detectives.

Sykes said she's hoping this time the news is good.

"After this length of time, you tend not to get your hopes up real high because it hurts too much if it's not true, which so often you know they've had sightings before but there's never anything come of it," Sykes said.

Haleigh vanished from her home in Satsuma on Feb. 10.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said that from the day an Amber Alert was issued, they believed Haleigh was taken. Investigators have followed thousands of leads in the case -- several from out of state -- but have not identified anyone who may have taken the girl.

In the video, reporter Dan Leveton stated that the media tried to interview the Croslins in Putnam County to no avail. Croslins had nothing to say and asked the media to leave their property.

Yeah, I did a driving directions and it's only about 3-4 miles distance between the two.

klass you are absolutely right and because the cape has little to no actual town cops (in the summer you can become a volunteer bike cop pretty easily) plus the fact that it was a questioning of one state to another it would be consider state police matters and I wouldn't be surprised if this is the closest state police barrack... i live in a major city and we don't even have a state police barrack you have to go to the boonies for those

to me the two are unrelated... abington is not a short driving distance from the cape by any means and if they wanted to go shopping with her they wouldn't go that far just to go to walmart i would think especially since there are a lot of outlets malls in the cape that you could find everything you need at.... i don't think they would be looking at tim and chelsea as possibly having her in the area and not show up at the house to ask to talk with them there... not saying search the house because that would require a warrant but ask to come in and chat meanwhile looking around... talk with neighbors etc... i don't buy it that they were following up on a walmart sighting... don't they have plenty of florida leads that hey haven't even followed up on yet?...
seems to me that the walmart story is a rouse ... maybe tey didn't want people to know they had reinterviewed the croslins... they didn't go to the house maybe to not draw attention... the croslin's have no comment... and it was a tip to the reporte who cracked the story to begin with and le up here is tight lipped... i have not heard le say that it was fact that it was even the croslin's that were questioned (althoough we can put 2+2 together)... why are they being so secretive about it is the question?

Misty said that she guess that HaLeigh peed on her blanket the night before.
The night before was Sunday when she supposedly returned from the 3 day drug fest.  What actually went on that Sunday night that would have scared HaLeigh or would have made HaLeigh wet the bed?

I dont know heart but when I retrieve the larry  list I then went to civil docs to look for who was divorced and had to pay child support.. it doesnt tell you the age or anything of the children or child.. But he was on my lst as he had to pay child support...i

I don't post often but I lurk every night to see what the smart monkeys have deciphered.

MC keeps saying Haleigh loved her, they were so close, she was like her mother, then why did
she need to call RC cause she couldn't get her to go to bed.  I've taken in lots of kids, and if you get a good relationship with them, then you don't need outside help to get them to
do things for you.  Especially when it is something they know they have to do nightly, like,
go to bed.

Also, I had my teen niece live with me thru high school, parents were a mess, and she had learned a lot about deception from them.  She was a habitual liar, but she had a tell, when she lied, she would always look down, and I notice MC does that a lot.

And as far, as TN and Grandma Sykes, I'm beginning to wonder, if they believe RC had something to do with it, and they aren't protecting MC, but rather, they think they have to protect RC.  I really want to believe at least that the grandmas are clueless, want to believe someone really cares about that child.

Since the statement RC made about if he had money he could get his daughter back, and the rumors that he was out the night she disappeared trying to come up with fast money, I'm leaning towards something went bad and they took his child to pay him back, and he knows.
But, then, too, I wonder about the fact he said, 'I needs closure', not 'I need my daughter' or
'My daughter needs me'.  And is there any doubt who was getting the cold stare from him off camera when his lawyer was talking.  That makes me think, he doesn't like how she is fouling up his script. 

I know I jumped around here, hope I make sense, just after watching NG all these thoughts kept popping in my head. 

LOL, me too, my son called, he just can't keep it straight I have a date with NG at the same time every nite.  He laughs at me, says she makes you mad, and she does, but she has info.
And I pray that her "bombshell" will eventually be new news or even better, Haleigh is found.
