Last night's TV ratings

Fox’s ALCS baseball game #2 between the Yankees and the Angels was the big winner on Saturday night averaging a 2.8 adults 18-49 demo rating for the primetime portion, up 0.4 ratings points from Friday night’s game. As the series returns to Anaheim, Fox has to be rooting for the Angels to stretch the series out to boost the ratings. Perhaps they are poking needles in their A-Rod voodoo dolls now.

The main competition on the night, the NASCAR Banking 500, was well back with a 1.5 rating.

Expect to see the Rosebud family on more national TV based on the ratings and more blood money pouring in.  I was really hoping the show would have tanked so the networks would see that there was no demand to put them on TV anymore but I guess those that really hate the Ants are also funding them.  JMO

OMG, that da_n show got a better rating than NCIS and CSI Miami  ::MonkeyEek::  Wow, I guess more shows in the future  ::MonkeyNoNo::

Thanks for the response NoRose.  I have become so jaded by delving into this case that the only conclusion I can come to is "it's all about the money".  IMO, it's that way for everyone but the SA and LE.  None of these jackasses care what they say, as long as the media is there to pay them "license footage" or put their faces on TV.  I feel the same way with the HaLeigh case.  I wish I could round them all up and send them into space with that buffoon, balloon husband and wife.   ::MonkeyNoNo::

numbers...I too agree. When he said he doubted kc could get a fair trial, I cringed. That statement was on the promo and when I posted it someone posted that I must have taken it our of context. I gave the benefit of the doubt as it was a promo. But after hearing it this morning....DAMN...I wish he had kept quiet. The only thin IMO his part did was point out how jealous kc was of Caylee, even as a baby. I sure hope people who don't know the case picked up on it.

There's been speculation that Rev Grund will file suit against the A's.  Why would Jesse appear in this 48 Hours show and use that kind of language?

This was titled the Untold Story......what does that mean.....nothing was new or important...this was a farce, a money making event for the a's and 48 hours put themselves in the tabloid class as far as I am concerned.

I would like to know his reaction to the show, we probably will hear it from RG before long. I have a feeling they just cropped a snippet from his conversation and inserted it to make him look like he was a bitter ex.

    I believe it was $20,000.00 for this one (I am not sure if that was a down payment or what). Funny thing, to them, the death of their granddaughter has been a real blessing. Prior to this, they were in default on their mortgage.. now their house has been mysteriously paid off and they don't work.. Caylee is their mealticket.

Brad   Conway said neither of the a's can get a job. Mo one would hire them. I wish someone could check that out. I'd love to see someplace either have applied for a job. Surely someone needs a chitdigger....georgieboy could do that.  ::MonkeyMad::

Hmmmm might need to check at the recorders office at the county to see if this mortgage has been paid off - I do know they were several months past due at the time of KC's bond hearing.  I will have to do some snooping.

Well is this ever interesting.  Rosebud stated in her depo that she was on Disability and STILL employed.  Seems like a sweet deal to be on long term disability.  Her employer may not be too happy to hear she is applying for jobs while she is on LTD.  As for Rosebuddy, his work history shows he could not hold down a long term job for his entire career.  This has not changed that what so ever.  Lastly, the one they should be blaming is their daughter dearest for throwing the entire family into this NOT the public.

I also thought Rosebuddy was busting out of his chest that he was the spokesperson for KFN some months ago.  You can not tell me that the Milsteads have fired him.  This is a pile of bullcrap!

IIRC they paid off the mortgage around the time they started the Extreme Bass Fishing Search and CMA foundations.  I could totally be wrong on that though.

I didn't watch the 48 Hours show last night, and fell asleep after the Bama game, so I am way behind. I am going back to read and try to catch up.

I searched the comptrollers site in Orange County and there are 4 documents recorded, it appears they refi'd with Bank of America in May 2005 - Mortgage was recorded in July 2005 and was financed with a maturation date of June 2035.  Interesting to note the Mortgage shows Cindy as the borrower - Cindy only, but Georges signature is on the doc - not sure if this has something to do with the fact they paid off the previous mtg or not but there is no satisfaction of this mortgage and according to public record has not been paid off.

Casey Anthony: '48 Hours Mystery' offers flashy recap, odd tidbits from George, Cindy Anthony

If you haven't been following the saga of Casey Anthony, last night's "48 Hours Mystery" offered a flashily edited, fast-moving recap of the strange case.

If you know the details, the report was a disappointment, but the baffling elements made it worth a look anyway.

Those licensing fees that newsmagazines pay for footage and photographs -- a standard industry practice -- produced a trove of new Caylee images. That's a mystery worthy of a "48 Hours" investigation: How much more Caylee footage do the Anthonys have and how do they decide to dole it out?

Reporter Maggie Rodriguez's scoop came from Casey Anthony's defense team. Anthony is charged with the first-degree murder of daughter Caylee, but defense lawyers said a stranger is responsible. In Rodriguez's "exclusive interview," the lawyers didn't say a lot more, but "48 Hours" gave a glimpse of the defense's strategy.

Rodriguez tried for balance. Supporting Casey were her attorneys and her parents, George and Cindy Anthony. Those critical of Casey included a Tampa prosecutor, former Casey fiance Jesse Grund, attorney John Morgan and his client Zenaida Gonzalez, who is suing Casey Anthony for defamation.


Gonzalez was in tears about Casey Anthony, saying, "She took everything away from me." Morgan called Cindy "rabid." Morgan was particularly withering about Casey's partying while her child was missing.

There was too much George and Cindy Anthony, but hasn't that always been the case? They're the self-serving couple who are always tone deaf to the effect they're having. They're exasperating.



Did George confront Casey about her lies? He said they had "some discussions."

What about all they people who say Cindy and Casey have a contentious relationship? They're not being truthful, Cindy said.

Cindy says she's not in denial, but acknowledges her first words to authorities could be Casey's downfall. Cindy said she most wants justice for Caylee, which Cindy says will be justice for Casey, too.

In the strangest tidbit, we learned that George and Cindy have turned their home into a shrine to Caylee and keep the child's death certificate out in the open.

If the grandparents had stayed in their shrine, this would be a far different case.

But when you're tone deaf to the public's reaction, you can't help yourself.

I've actually read about that somewhere in the last year.

I don't recall the exact wording but it was one of those type of statements that a warped person could twist into a perverted, "dirty" meaning.

I thought it was totally absurb at the time because any reasonable person would have known it wasn't meant that way.

For some reason I think it was mentioned during the "chapter" of the story with Leonard although I'm not certain at all.  However, it might have been in one of Cindy's interviews.  Hmmmmm...wish I could remember but I do recall it was given the first birthday unless my memory is totally gone.

Also from lst week 48 hours did not make a blip on the ratings.

That is all they admitted to- I'm sure it was an installment.  They are not going to sell pictures for less than $200K.  That's chump change to CBS.

She can still look for other jobs while on LTD - the Insurance company are the ones paying her. I imagine she would want one with no public contact- who would want her around? Typically those policies only last 2 years, then you have to get a job or if not able then apply for SS Disability. I do not think she would qualify for that.

Kind of hard to be looking for a job in between tv shows, and special appearances.

I just got caught up with all the posts and I think I will do myself a favor and never, ever watch it, although I really would have like to hear the about the Rotweiler on a lunge leash by John's southern drawl myself. 48 Hours was disgusting enough reading about, so I will be kind to myself and forego it. I am so glad I fell asleep and wasn't even tempted.  ::MonkeyCheer2::

The 48 hours segment could have been worse, but was plenty bad anyway. Anything that showcases the Ant’s is bad.  I’m sick of them and sick of seeing KC’s fat smiling attorneys. Are they happy about all the attention the death of a child is garnering for their own selfish purposes?  Are they happy their innocent client has been sitting in the slammer for over a year getting as fat as them? Wonder how KC feels when she sees them enjoying the limelight while she deteriorates due to lack of exercise and isolation? Funny how having proof she is innocent and not providing that information allows for her to be wrongly incarcerated for over a year and no telling how much longer before the compelling evidence is brought forth.

I’m thinking the network is as fat and happy as the attorney’s as they count their ratings that continue to make a mockery of the murder of an innocent child.  They all try to blame the public for hating the Ant’s for no good reason all the while knowing that these reactions from the public are due to the slanted interviews they continue to hold for this despicable family. Not to mention that in between shows this appalling family is doing everything in their power to continue the hatred bestowed on them so that they may profit from the murder of Caylee…………Color me disgusted with the whole lot of them!

GRACE: Did you -- have you ever heard of this nanny, Zenaida Gonzalez?

GAGNE: I had never heard the name, but when Casey came to my home at the tail end of `07, she had told me that there had been someone taking care of her. There was never a name given. And I knew that she had -- you use the word nanny, and I know when you hear that word, you think paying someone.

I look at it more it was a baby-sitter or a caregiver, because I had also kept Caylee sometimes.

GAGNE: And there was never any money exchanged.

GRACE: Well, that is the word she used, that`s why I have.

GAGNE: OK.

GRACE: . have been using it as well.

So long story short, neither the grandmother, the -- the grandmother, the grandfather, you, nobody has ever seen the nanny?

GAGNE: Not to my knowledge. I can only speak for myself. I`ve never seen her, no.

GRACE: Did she represent to you that she had a job?

GAGNE: When I kept Caylee, I know she was employed at Universal. Now when I saw her last year that never came up.

GRACE: What do you think has happened to Caylee?

GAGNE: I can tell you what I don`t know, and I can tell America what I know about Casey as a mother. The mother that I know, the friend that I was neighbors with and that I`ve known for over six years, believe it or not, in all this craziness, is -- was and is a loving, caring mother.

Now she`s not a ditzy mother. She never portrayed being a young mother, what you`d think as a teen. She was very, just, detailed, reading to her child. When I would baby-sit her down to little things.

I personally cannot wait for the day that the state shows their hand in court, and shuts their big mouths up! They know that until that day, they can tell whatever version they want, and won't be called on it. And I see in George's face, every single time he opens his mouth, that he's lying to cover for his demon spawn, and he has no problem doing it. Judge Strickland had been moved to someone else's court- a woman Judge? - he said "Whose court is this- I've never seen as much hand lotion in my life".    Bozo and KC thought that was funny.  Nothing about them ever treats this case with respect.

 Most of what I'm about to say has been discussed to death but.... I just don't get WHY  cindy defends kc. CA cannot be blind to the facts that have come out, she cannot deny the troubles she had with kc. She cannot dispute that kc was a thief and promiscuous. She, herself, had consulted a psychologist about kc's behavior. But yet here CA goes again, compounding lie after lie to say none of it is true.
Even if I take out the DP part, CA is still stating it's all a vendetta against her pure, innocent kid. I'm also putting aside the money angle just for argument's sake.

I sometimes think she is one of those types that MUST always have a different view than everybody else and it must be taken as gospel regardless of the absolute facts that can rebutt it. It's almost like she must be the winner. She, alone is in charge.  She has the deluded idea that any crazy thing she says makes perfect sense and is not to be examined or questiioned.  If real facts won't work, she'll manipulate evidence or convince others to corroborate (GA, maybe J Wray) to be able to act like a kid on the playground, "nanny nanny boo boo" I'm right. Who does that? Especially with your beautiful grandchild dead, the one and only logical person who could've done it is your own kid, and yet every move is without humility or class . I can't understand why she wouldn't want kc to get help or make amends etc. What would she do if kc came home, does she feel that she alone is the only person on earth that has the right (and privilege i might add) to discipline her for the naughty thing she did?    It's nuts, I'm fairly sure after all this is said and done, all of them but especially CA and kc's behavior will be analyzed by a lot of psychologists and psychiatrists.

IMO George is scared of being tossed out on his arse so will not get Rosebud upset at all cost.  Casey held Caylee over their heads and they clearly said it was "their" child.  Prior to Caylee I believe that Rosebud did not want to admit she had a disfunctional family and did whatever it took to keep up the June Cleaver image rather than facing confrontation.  Worked well for her.  Almost as well as the re-baptism.

Casey Anthony was the subject of an hour-long TV special this past weekend. 
48 Hours Mystery on CBS featured exclusive interviews with the Miss Anthony's family and defense team where they said with certainty that the accused child killer is innocent.  Her lawyers said someone else killed 2-year-old Caylee and private investigators are working to find that person. 

Cindy Anthony, Caylee's grandmother, changed her story during an interview, saying she told a 911 operator that the car smelled like a dead body so cops would hurry over.

The defense said they plan to challenge the state's science that shows human decomposition in the trunk.  And they said there is nothing to connect the crime scene to the Anthony home.

Cindy Anthony has been babysitting for another little girl.  Video showed her in Caylee's room playing with toys that once belonged to the slain two year old.

A Florida judge has rejected a motion to dismiss the charges against Casey Anthony, who is facing first-degree murder charges for the death of her 2-year-old daughter. Circuit Judge Stan Strickland ruled that the motion did not meet the requirements needed for a dismissal.

The remains of Caylee Anthony were found in December 2008 in a wooded area near the home where she lived with her mother and grandparents.

In their motion to dismiss the charges, attorneys for Casey Anthony said they had discovered "substantial evidence" that Caylee's body was placed in the woods after Casey was incarcerated for other crimes.

The motion called the murder charges "circumstantial and speculative."

State prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick told judge Stickland that the defense motion was "insufficient and riddled with errors."
Fraud Trial Set for January

Before Casey was charged with the murder of her daughter, she was jailed on dozens of fraud and check forgery charges. She is accused of writing more than $662 on a friend's checking account.

The trial for Anthony's check fraud cases is scheduled for Jan. 25. A pre-trial hearing is set for Dec. 18. Prosecutors requested that the fraud trial be held prior to her murder trial.

The defense has requested that the fraud trial be moved out of Orange County.

The state is seeking the death penalty the murder case.

Although a gag order is in place in the case and no real news has broken in several weeks, the Caylee Anthony case continues to capture the public's interest. The case has prompted more than 9,000 posts in the Crime and Punishment Forum's Caylee Anthony Thread.

In the Caylee Anthony case it was also a very busy week. Defense motions were denied, and prosecution ones accepted. But once again Jose Baez managed to dodge the bullet, he has been given until Feb/1 2010 to share his evidence that Caylee Anthony’s body was moved after mother Casey Anthony was in the slammer! As Jan and Denny pointed out, this makes no sense. If Casey is innocent, why would Baez wait more than three months to share this information? Does Casey enjoy life behind bars that she is asking her legal team to delay?

This week also saw the release of some depositions from Grandfather George Anthony. The inconsistencies in his statements boggle the mind. Gas cans, duct tape, and concrete slabs all seem to bring on a form of dementia in the man.

It was an entertaining program, and even though we do bill it as a ‘look back’ on the past seven days the occasional piece of brand new news does spill out. There was certainly some today. I will say this, if your information comes from the MSM it is old. One person I talked to that is close to both cases made the remark ‘I watched Nancy Grace last Thursday, was even 6 minutes of it live’?
It was an exciting program, and no doubt we will be hearing from the peanut gallery. I can only offer this advice to those of you that do not like the program, or the articles that we publish… don’t listen to us, and don’t read us. The last time I checked it was not compulsory to do either.

Personally there are TV channels, Radio Channels, and Internet sites that I do not like. My solution is to avoid them. It is a rendition of the ‘Doctor, doctor, it hurts when I do this’ joke. If it hurts, just don’t do it!

Well, if Casey killed Cindy instead of Caylee, one could probably argue how that could have happened.   While I believe living under that witch's thumb & twisted thinking may have been enough to be murderous, Casey herself is a narcissistic sociopath who had other motivations to be freed from being a parent...she never wanted the responsibility of a job much less motherhood, totally self-involved & reckless with little to no moral compass.   At 22, albeit some consider young, she certainly was well beyond old enough to know right from wrong & to seek other reasonable means to change her lifestyle with harm to herself or whom should have been most paramount in her mind & heart, Caylee.   To be honest, if I had my way this case would set a precedent for the first solitary confinement family cell!

I had no plans to watch the CBS show, actually I forgot it was even going to be on. Sat night I was going around the channels to see what was on and I stumbled upon it, about 10 mins into the show. Since I was caught off guard, figured wth I'll watch it. Of course, many things I heard made me feel ill but lets hear what G&C have to say. As I figured it was same old/same old. It seems to me the defense lawyers are already trying this case, and they can't answer to why KC was partying while her daughter was "missing". They can't answer to why she didn't bother to report her daughter missing. Can't wait for the trial to finally hear the "other side of the story". Why are they waiting to tell us till then, when they already have so many other things to say? If it was a stranger who took Caylee, why didn't KC tell someone then?? If KC did nothing wrong, why would she be afraid to even tell her parents that something terrible happened to Caylee. It makes no sense to me that KC would be afraid to tell ANYONE that someone took her daughter. There is NO EXPLANATION for that because (IMO) that's NOT the way it happened!! I think they are all desperate now, and it shows.

I didn't understand that with the little girl. Who and why would anyone want CA to watch their child? It's just a little creepy to me that she was in there playing with Caylee's things. I'm not saying G&C should crawl into a hole and die (though I'm sure others wouldn't mind), but I don't see how "babysitting" is a good thing for them to do. It's like they're trying to prove something by showing us that someone else trusts them with their child. It would be different if they already did babysitting for others, but as far as I know they never did, so why now? I understand sometimes there really is a good explanation for things, but it's been over a year since this started and still nothing has come out from their side that makes any sense. The recent depo's released of the A's, most difficult to get thru.  Who talks like that? They use all these big words (making some new ones even), totally out of context.  Would explain why they are sooo tight knit.  Can't anyone else follow a conversation with them. Also, interesting of note is that Mark's mother saw Casey one of the days she went to Target forging Amy's checks & Casey told her that she was planning a trip to go see Mark & her mother knew about it, so she is a witness to Casey being there that day in addition to the surveillance tape.

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla.-- The Anthonys apparently left their daughter's murder hearing on Friday morning and headed for Port Canaveral to take a cruise to the Bahamas.

Only Eyewitness News was there as George and Cindy Anthony got off the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Monday morning (watch video | see images). Their homecoming was less than two days after their $20,000 appearance on a CBS network show.

The Anthonys were not happy to see a camera. They told the photographer that they needed a vacation from the media, but on Saturday night they appeared on a one-hour network show for which Cindy admitted they were paid $20,000.

George had told prosecutors under oath it was just a few thousand. He called it "nothing," just enough to help them get by because they can't find work.

The Anthonys left Friday evening on the Monarch of the Seas for a three-night cruise. They stopped at Royal Caribbean's own tropical island and then made a stop in Nassau before returning to Port Canaveral on Monday morning.

“We had a nice vacation, will you please leave us alone now?” Cindy told the cameraperson (watch video | see images).

Meanwhile, George never said a word.

“The vacation was from you guys,” Cindy said.“Shut your camera off.”

But the Anthonys had no problem sitting with the CBS network cameras for hours for an hour-long show that aired Saturday night. The Anthonys were paid $20,000 and Cindy says they gave $3,000 of it to their lawyer, Brad Conway, for negotiating the deal.

The show's questions did not break any new ground in the case.

Eyewitness News tried to contact the Anthonys' attorney Monday morning to ask about their cruise, but hasn’t heard back.

ORLANDO -- Now that daughter, Casey, has been languishing in the county jail on a murder charge for more than a year, George and Cindy are taking a break on a cruise.

It's the latest development in a series of events that has mesmerized the nation. The CBS program “48 Hours” profiled the case Saturday night, featuring interviews with family members and lawyers for the Orange County mother charged with murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

In deposition transcripts released last week, George Anthony revealed that the family's finances have taken a dive. Because of the publicity of case, George Anthony says neither of them can work. And that forced them to sell their story just to make ends meet.

Last week, Casey Anthony's defense team said Orange County deputies and the FBI botched the case, and arrested their client too soon.

Lawyers said they believe a stranger killed the toddler.

Prosecutors declined to talk on camera to CBS, but they did tell the show’s producers they were convinced that Casey was the killer.

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla.-- George and Cindy Anthony returned from a vacation Monday morning, saying they took a cruise to escape continued media coverage surrounding their daughter's murder case.

The parents of Casey Anthony, who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee, were spotted leaving a cruise ship in Port Canaveral. The couple was featured over the weekend on "48 Hours Mystery" on CBS, which has paid the Anthonys $20,000, according to a deposition from Cindy Anthony.

The CBS show also showcased Casey Anthony's attorneys, who said they're confident they can prove that their client did not kill her daughter, who was 2 years old when she was reported missing in July 2008.

"The state has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt this young woman intentionally murdered her daughter. They have to prove it with evidence," Linda Kenney Baden said on the show. "People lie to law enforcement all the time -- people lie to their husbands, people lie to their kids, kids lie to their parents -- that does not make them killers."

"But why would they lie to people trying to help them find their missing dauther?" Maggie Rodriguez of CBS asked.

"Because people do funny things under stress," Kenney Baden said.

Caylee's remains were discovered in December in a wooded lot near the Anthony family's east Orange County home.

Casey Anthony, 23, has pleaded not guilty, saying she left Caylee with a baby sitter and they were gone when she returned to pick up her daughter.

I am living for the day that their spawn gets convicted, can't wait to see the look on their faces. I'll just bet that Cindy thinks her spawn will come home to her again, and I will also bet that she would want her pregnant again, so she Cindy could have another child to ruin. Ah, Balloon Boy: You floated into our lives and reminded us how some people have media sickness.

These misguided fools will do just about anything to get attention. Richard and Mayumi Heene are two of the biggest fools. They used their 6-year-old son, Falcon, to launch a balloon stunt in hopes of landing a reality show. How did they ever think they could get away with it?

On "The View" this morning, Joy Behar called it "the biggest PR stunt since Liza Minnelli's wedding."

On CNN yesterday, legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said the "ridiculous stunt" was bad enough, "but then to subject your family to being part of it is really just perverse in the extreme."

Toobin dubbed Richard Heene's desire for a show "the Jon and Kate Syndrome" for "those who want to be on TV too much."

Jon and Kate Gosselin wanted to be on TV so much that they were happy to use their children as props in "Jon & Kate Plus 8." Now their marriage is kaput, their show is on life support, and they've been held up to widespread ridicule.

The Heenes brought their children into their scam, then enrolled them in a media blitz. But children have a hard time lying. Little Falcon let the secret slip on CNN and threw up on NBC's "Today." And now the Heene parents have been held up to ridicule.

Children don't even have to be alive to become props in a media circus. Young Caylee Anthony's face keeps popping up as the dead girl's family shares her image on national television.

It's one reason that grandparents George and Cindy Anthony have enraged many observers. The Caylee footage plays as the Anthonys do interviews supporting daughter Casey, who is charged with Caylee's murder.

Some things should be sacred, such as the likeness of a young crime victim. But not for the Anthonys. As a reader named Marcie just wrote, "Caylee is no longer a child. She's a brand."

This thirst to be in the media spotlight isn't new. Stage mothers of old would do just about anything to win fame for their children.

Yet the situation is worse today. As as the media proliferate, media sickness is spreading.

The only way to stem it: Shaming the sufferers of Jon and Kate Syndrome. It's one way to protect children from the madness of being reduced to props.

George and Cindy Anthony have returned from a cruise, stations reported at noon today.

The parents of Casey Anthony could be seen at Port Canaveral.

"The Anthonys wouldn't go on camera, but told Local 6 they took the cruise to get away from all the media coverage surrounding their daughter's case," WKMG-Channel 6 anchor Laura Diaz said.

CBS affiliate WKMG also repeated footage from "48 Hours Mystery," the CBS news magazine that explored the case of Casey Anthony. She is charged with the first-degree murder of her daughter, Caylee.

That edition of "48 Hours Mystery" averaged 6.1 million viewers, according to preliminary ratings released Sunday. The program has been averaging 6.8 million viewers this season.

WFTV-Channel 9's Kathi Belich noted that George and Cindy Anthony had received a $20,000 licensing fee from CBS for footage and photographs of Caylee. "The show's questions did not break any new ground in the case," Belich said.

I guess the public should be happy they didn't take a bus trip!

If they're looking to get away from the media, why don't they move? It's not like the media doesn't know where they live. KC's been in jail over a year, it's been 10 months since Caylee was found and I haven't seen too many shots of them grocery shopping or running to an appointment. Some how the media found out they were leaving on a 3 hour day tour and must have felt it important enough to tell their viewers. Maybe cause they claim how they can't get jobs because of all that's happened, yet can afford a cruise? Guess things aren't going too bad for them. But no, they just complain, complain, complain! I literally just got off the phone with SS disability for myself.  I am legit. The detailed questions they asked me, unbelievable, right down to " can i cut my own meat". I am still in the beginning phase of my claim, for major hand/wrist disability. Can a person REALLY get paid temp di$$$ability when your disability is being a liar?

George had told prosecutors under oath it was just a few thousand. He called it "nothing," just enough to help them get by because they can't find work

ORLANDO --While Casey Anthony is in an Orange County jail on murder charges, her parents took off on cruise to "take a break."

It's the latest development in a series of events that has mesmerized the nation. The CBS program “48 Hours” profiled the case Saturday night, featuring interviews with family members and lawyers for the Orange County mother charged with murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

In deposition transcripts released last week, George Anthony revealed that the family's finances have taken a dive. Because of the publicity of case, George Anthony says neither of them can work. And that forced them to sell their story just to make ends meet.

Last week, Casey Anthony's defense team said Orange County deputies and the FBI botched the case, and arrested their client too soon.

Lawyers said they believe a stranger killed the toddler.
Prosecutors declined to talk on camera to CBS, but they did tell the show’s producers they were convinced that Casey was the killer.

Should not care, I know..  Debt collectors are blowwing up my phone today because I have been off work for  5mos now due a true claim of disability.  I am 1 week behind, yet they are relentless.  Being off of work is not vacation.  There was a time when my dream vacation would have beeen to be home alone to clean closets get orginized ect.... but I cannot because I am physically diasabled.   Seeing people rewarded by bad behavior with a cruise just really pizzes me off right now  ::MonkeyMad::

CeCe..yes it is very common for guests to be "comped" certain gifts..like trips, jewelry, clothes, you name it..cash is the tip of the iceberg here.  I am sure they may not have received cash from some of the shows, but LKL certainly comped them things as well.   Gift baskets, limos, hotels, side trips to places of interest, etc, etc.  As well as sessions with ahir and make up artists.  And someone paid for the hotel stay at the Ritz in Decemeber when they got home.....CBS, ABC....THE LIST IS ENDLESS IN CINDY'S MIND.

WFTV-Channel 9 led its 5 p.m. news with the George and Cindy Anthony's Caribbean cruise.

"The vacation was from you guys," Cindy said after leaving her cruise ship. Cindy said they had a nice time, but she also snapped at WFTV, "Thanks for ruining our trip." That Cindy -- she's so inconsistent.

Then ABC affiliate WFTV explored what that cruise might mean to the case of Casey Anthony, their daughter. She is charged with the first-degree murder of her daughter, Caylee.

WFTV's anchors noted that the Anthonys had received $20,000 from CBS. That network's "48 Hours Mystery" on Saturday aired an hour on the case.

WFTV's Kathi Belich had an intriguing way of recapping details in the headline-making case. "In December, the Anthonys were dining on crab puffs at the Ritz-Carlton on the tab of one major network, while investigators were here in the woods, right around the corner from their house, in the rain and mud, searching for Caylee's remains," Belich said.

That "major network" is the one WFTV is affiliated with: Disney-owned ABC. Why not just state the facts?

Belich highlighted that the Anthonys were on "a tropical island cruise" while "48 Hours Mystery" aired. The WFTV reporter noted that George has told prosecutors that no one will hire either him or Cindy.

Cindy said they accepted $20,000 from CBS. The network said it paid to license photographs and footage; CBS says it doesn't pay for interviews.

Legal analyst Doug Dorner told Belich that the cruise could hurt the couple's credibility in defending their daughter. The Anthonys' attorney, Brad Conway, told WFTV that the Anthonys deserved the break. Conway collected $3,000 from the CBS deal.

The biggest outrage here, though, isn't that the Anthonys went on a cruise. Or that the Anthonys had a swank meal at a terrible time.

It's that networks keep paying these licensing fees, which they describe as a standard industry practice. The networks say they're not paying for interviews, but their subjects are pocketing money. The business deal taints the journalism.

And, of course, George and Cindy are merely a sideshow here. The big news is the licensing fee that ABC's "20/20" paid for Caylee footage and photographs. That figure has been put at $200,000 to $225,000. Anthony attorney Jose Baez has acknowledged selling such items, but he hasn't said to whom or how much.

The networks should not be paying these fees. The practice may be standard, but the standard stinks.

Poor Caylee. She had it rough in life. And now the media whores are showing her no respect in death.

I looked into my disablity plan when I was sick. And our government one too.
I wanted to know what the rules were just in case I had to go there. 
IF I were to go on disablilty, I could not work and if I did manage to find some,  I could only earn about 4,000.00 per year. Else they would think I wasn't so sick.

Cindy is out and about every day. She might be mentally disabled, but she is employable. I find it odd to be on disability from work and yet they can earn money ??

I am. Last week for the big appt, I said, do I have to go out on A Medical Retirement, he said no. Also, no long term disabaliity either. Yikes, I won a prize, I get to work.

Before I leave Caylee's thread tonight cause I just can't handle any more, I know there are several monkeys saying that children get hurt all the time and blah, blah, blah. I'm not cutting the awful Anthonys a break at all. You can now see for yourselves the stingy, selfish, self serving people they are, and they couldn't notice a 2 yr old if their lives depended on it. PORT CANAVERAL -- From the courthouse to a Caribbean cruise ship, George and Cindy Anthony end a short vacation just a few days after they receive thousands for appearing on national TV.

"We had a nice vacation. Will you please leave us alone now?" said Cindy Anthony, Casey’s mother.

The Anthonys walked off the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas Monday to a camera, which wasn’t what they weren't looking for.

"The vacation was from you guys. Shut your camera off," Cindy Anthony said.

The three-day cruise to the Bahamas follows a hearing where an Orange County judge dismissed a request to throw out the most serious criminal charges against their daughter.

This comes after a big pay out to share their story on CBS' “48 Hours” Saturday night.

The Anthonys were paid thousands for photos. It’s a practice done by some television programs.

In the past, the Anthonys attorney Brad Conway said George Anthony was struggling to find work.

They aren't the first ones to make money from Casey’s case.

Roy Kronk, the meter reader who found Caylee’s remains, was paid a licensing fee from ABC's “Good Morning America.”

He was paid thousands of dollars for a picture of a rattlesnake.

Conway did not return our calls.

Last month, George told News 13 he and Cindy had been working on their relationship and trying to spend more time together.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Newly released documents in the Casey Anthony case show that a former private investigator for the defense and defense attorney Jose Baez had a falling out over money.

The defense team hired private investigator Dominic Casey around two weeks after Anthony was arrested last summer.

Casey now works for Anthony's parents, George and Cindy Anthony, but when Baez hired him, the two had a written agreement.

In a sworn statement, Casey said Baez agreed to pay him "contingent on necessary funds becoming available."

Casey believed he would be paid if and when Baez was paid. When a spokesman for Baez announced the defense team had received funds from an anonymous donor several months later, Casey assumed he would be paid. Casey said Baez told him he had been working for free.

Casey filed a formal bar complaint against Baez several months ago, alleging that the defense attorney told him not to call authorities if he found Caylee Anthony's remains during a search for the toddler. Casey said Baez told him to walk away, call the attorney, and not tell anyone else about what he found.

The Florida Bar investigated those allegations against Baez, but found no evidence of wrongdoing and Baez was cleared.

Anthony told investigators she left Caylee with a baby sitter named Zenaida Gonzalez, a woman with the same name is suing Anthony for defamation.

Casey has claimed that his work for the defense protects him from answering questions in the civil case against Anthony, but attorneys representing Gonzalez could use the sworn statement to show that Casey ended his relationship with the defense team early on and should be forced to answer their questions.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

Caylee was 2 when she was reported missing in July 2008, one month after she was last seen alive. Her remains were found in a wooded area near the Anthony family's east Orange County home in December.

Anthony is currently being held at the Orange County Jail on no bond pending her trial. She could face the death penalty if convicted.

TV Special Raises Questions

Casey Anthony's parents sat down with "48 Hours" for a special, which raised several questions about the case.

Grandparents to slain toddler Caylee Anthony, George and Cindy Anthony have been in the spotlight since the 2-year-old was reported missing last summer.

Cindy Anthony told CBS's Maggie Rodriguez that the state is mistaken in assuming that Casey Anthony is the person who searched terms like "neck-breaking," "household weapons," and "how to make chloroform" on the Anthony family computer.

"I remember I looked up chlorophyll back in March of last year and I am not sure if I looked up chloroform as well," Cindy Anthony told prosecutors in a deposition.

Records show that Cindy Anthony was at work at the time the chloroform search was conducted, but she said her time sheets were not always 100 percent accurate.

Casey Anthony's attorneys also spoke in-depth with the show, including a comment about a DNA fragment on a piece of duct tape.

"Another party that did not belong to the FBI, did not belong to the law enforcement, did not belong to the Anthony family, left DNA on that duct tape," defense attorney Linda Kenney-Baden said.

According to court documents reviewed by Local 6 investigative reporter Tony Pipitone, the DNA Kenney-Baden is referring to is consistent with another FBI analyst who touched the tape. There is not enough DNA to say it was the analyst for sure, but there is also not enough evidence for the defense to go as far as to say it was a stranger's DNA.

I hate to break it to this guy but this is not even close to breaking news.   Joy made these claims not only at Jay Blanchard Park in November but  right at the Suburban Dr crime scene with detectives & it was caught on tape when she brought them pictures accusing TM of being a liar - Phil Keaton shot footage that day live as it occurred.   What is new to some was her stating that she took Bozo, Lyons and "entire the defense team" according to her 2 months ago, only in the respect that this is when "Macadoodle loosing his noodles" made that remark in court about Casey being innocent and they have proof a stranger did it.   She was quoted as having "stalked" the remains crime scene every day (per PK of Foxnews) and she was also at every other site that broke news i.e. TES searches, the Meet & Greet KFN tent, JBP during the dive search, the Anthony house, court house for hearing attendance, Morgan's office for the Anthony depositions, revisiting the woods where Caylee was found several times.

I cannot believe that even this bloodsucking attention-seeking BS spewing money hungry defense attorneys are this stupid to even contemplate using this certified nutjob much less do so but then again they are that desperate.    And what is with Macadoodle's anger issues, my God the clip of him on the 48 hour mystery showed him yet again like a mad dog!  His "bullie" approach isnt impressive nor effective (we certainly have seen what that does for Bozo LOL), does he even listen to himself, his defense of Casey makes him sound as insane as his witness!

ddex--It makes me furious that there are people who have genuine problems such as your disability and the Anthonys can go off on cruises on other peoples' money which they have only because their worthless daughter murdered her precious child.

I know this is none of my business, but if you tell collectors not to call again, there is a Federal law that they can be fined $1000 if they call again.  You might remind them of the fine.  Sorry about your situation.

Anthonys Take Cruise After Big Payout For TV Interview

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Minutes after a judge refused to throw out their daughter's murder case, the Anthonys set sail on a Caribbean cruise and Eyewitness News was there Monday morning when they stepped off the boat (watch video | see images).

While they were at sea, CBS aired a special edition of “48 Hours” on the mystery surrounding their granddaughter's death. Eyewitness News learned the Anthonys received $20,000 for an interview on that special.

Could someone with either knowledge of FLA's Sunshine Law and/or compelled depositions address this question which several of us pondered in the last thread?

I "sorta" understand the protection from prosecution for the person giving a compelled deposition.  Well, I understand the perjury part, etc.

I would like to know though if that "protection" from prosecution covers civil action as well as criminal.

In other words, do these innocent people that are having their reputations torn to shreds in these depositions have any recourse at all?  I've never witnessed the liberal publication of such private suppositions as it appears that the FLA statute allows and cannot figure out if this compelled testimony means they can say anything about anyone without censure just because they "think" it.

This question has bothered me before but has really bugged me since reading these last Anthony depositions.  It appears to me that several young people have had reputations shattered before they have barely had time to start their adult lives.

Doesn't anyone think it's strange for a Judge to discuss reading Blogs with MDave, when the subject of his blog has been about a State's witness lately and there are lots of comments about the the Anthony case?   I don't know what to make of him doing that but it sounds strange to me..

Well, it appears to me that Judge Strickland going out of his way to comment on "fair and balanced" may indicate that he has been doing his own research so that he is prepared when they argue a change of venue - evidently he found coverage that isnt totally detrimental to the defendant which might be the point.

Cruise Hurts The Anthony’s Credibility in Defending Casey

6WFTV-Channel 9 led its 5 p.m. news with the George and Cindy Anthony’s Caribbean cruise.

“The vacation was from you guys,” Cindy said after leaving her cruise ship. Cindy said they had a nice time, but she also snapped at WFTV, “Thanks for ruining our trip.” That Cindy — she’s so inconsistent.

Then ABC affiliate WFTV explored what that cruise might mean to the case of Casey Anthony, their daughter. She is charged with the first-degree murder of her daughter, Caylee.

WFTV’s anchors noted that the Anthonys had received $20,000 from CBS. That network’s “48 Hours Mystery” on Saturday aired an hour on the case.

WFTV’s Kathi Belich had an intriguing way of recapping details in the headline-making case. “In December, the Anthonys were dining on crab puffs at the Ritz-Carlton on the tab of one major network, while investigators were here in the woods, right around the corner from their house, in the rain and mud, searching for Caylee’s remains,” Belich said.

That “major network” is the one WFTV is affiliated with: Disney-owned ABC. Why not just state the facts?

Belich highlighted that the Anthonys were on “a tropical island cruise” while “48 Hours Mystery” aired. The WFTV reporter noted that George has told prosecutors that no one will hire either him or Cindy.
Cindy said they accepted $20,000 from CBS. The network said it paid to license photographs and footage; CBS maintains it doesn’t pay for interviews.

In the past, the couple’s attorney, Brad Conway, has said they are looking for mystery baby-sitter Zenaida Gonzalez in Puerto Rico. But the Anthonys’ cruise took them only as far as Nassau, Belich said.

Legal analyst Doug Dorner told Belich that the cruise could hurt the couple’s credibility in defending their daughter. “It raises the question as to why are the parents not in Puerto Rico or spending that money on investigations to further the research into finding Zenaida Gonzalez?” Dorner said.

Conway told WFTV that the Anthonys deserved the break. Conway collected $3,000 from the CBS deal.

The biggest outrage here, though, isn’t that the Anthonys went on a cruise. Or that the Anthonys had a swank meal at a terrible time.

It’s that networks keep paying these licensing fees, which they describe as a standard industry practice. The networks say they’re not paying for interviews, but their subjects are pocketing money. The business deal taints the journalism.

And, of course, George and Cindy are merely a sideshow here. The big news is the licensing fee that ABC’s “20/20″ paid for Caylee footage and photographs. That figure has been put at $200,000 to $225,000. Anthony attorney Jose Baez has acknowledged selling such items, but he hasn’t said to whom or how much.
The networks should not be paying these fees. The practice may be standard, but the standard stinks.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Casey Anthony’s parents are back home after a weekend Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas. But they weren't happy to see a video photographer when they got off the ship.

“We're trying to have a nice vacation. Will you please leave us alone now. The vacation was from you guys,” said Cindy Anthony.

“I understand. I’m really sorry,” said the video photographer.

“No you don't. Shut your camera off,” said Cindy Anthony.

Neither Cindy nor George had much to say. But they did recently appear on “48 Hours." An Anthony family attorney confirms CBS paid them a licensing fee for the use of family photos in the pre-taped segment.

Casey Anthony’s check fraud trial is set for January. But her murder trial is not expected to start until next summer.

George and Cindy Anthony returned from a vacation Monday morning, saying they took a cruise to escape continued media coverage surrounding their daughter's murder case, according to a report by FLORIDA TODAY news partner WKMG Local 6 News.

The parents of Casey Anthony, who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee, were spotted leaving a cruise ship in Port Canaveral. The couple was featured over the weekend on "48 Hours Mystery" on CBS, which has paid the Anthonys $20,000, according to a deposition from Cindy Anthony.

The CBS show also showcased Casey Anthony's attorneys, who said they're confident they can prove that their client did not kill her daughter, who was 2 years old when she was reported missing in July 2008.

"The state has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt this young woman intentionally murdered her daughter. They have to prove it with evidence," Linda Kenney Baden said on the show. "People lie to law enforcement all the time -- people lie to their husbands, people lie to their kids, kids lie to their parents -- that does not make them killers."
"But why would they lie to people trying to help them find their missing dauther?" Maggie Rodriguez of CBS asked.

"Because people do funny things under stress," Kenney Baden said.

Caylee's remains were discovered in December in a wooded lot near the Anthony family's east Orange County home.

Casey Anthony, 23, has pleaded not guilty, saying she left Caylee with a baby sitter and they were gone when she returned to pick up her daughter.

PORT CANAVERAL -- From the courthouse to a Caribbean cruise ship, George and Cindy Anthony end a short vacation just a few days after they receive thousands for appearing on national TV.

"We had a nice vacation. Will you please leave us alone now?" said Cindy Anthony, Casey’s mother.

The Anthonys walked off the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas Monday to a camera, which wasn’t what they weren't looking for.

"The vacation was from you guys. Shut your camera off," Cindy Anthony said.

The three-day cruise to the Bahamas followed a hearing where an Orange County judge dismissed a request to throw out the most serious criminal charges against their daughter.

This comes after a big pay out to share their story on CBS' “48 Hours,” which ran Saturday night.
The Anthonys were paid thousands for photos. It’s a practice done by some television programs.

In the past, the Anthonys attorney Brad Conway said George Anthony was struggling to find work.

They aren't the first ones to make money from Casey’s case.

Roy Kronk, the meter reader who found Caylee’s remains, was paid a licensing fee from ABC's “Good Morning America.”

He was paid thousands of dollars for a picture of a rattlesnake.

Conway did not return our calls.

Last month, George told News 13 he and Cindy had been working on their relationship and trying to spend more time together.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Newly released documents in the Casey Anthony case show that a former private investigator for the defense and defense attorney Jose Baez had a falling out over money.

The defense team hired private investigator Dominic Casey around two weeks after Anthony was arrested last summer.

Casey now works for Anthony's parents, George and Cindy Anthony, but when Baez hired him, the two had a written agreement.

In a sworn statement, Casey said Baez agreed to pay him "contingent on necessary funds becoming available."

Casey believed he would be paid if and when Baez was paid. When a spokesman for Baez announced the defense team had received funds from an anonymous donor several months later, Casey assumed he would be paid. Casey said Baez told him he had been working for free.

Casey filed a formal bar complaint against Baez several months ago, alleging that the defense attorney told him not to call authorities if he found Caylee Anthony's remains during a search for the toddler. Casey said Baez told him to walk away, call the attorney, and not tell anyone else about what he found.

The Florida Bar investigated those allegations against Baez, but found no evidence of wrongdoing and Baez was cleared.

Anthony told investigators she left Caylee with a baby sitter named Zenaida Gonzalez, a woman with the same name is suing Anthony for defamation.

Casey has claimed that his work for the defense protects him from answering questions in the civil case against Anthony, but attorneys representing Gonzalez could use the sworn statement to show that Casey ended his relationship with the defense team early on and should be forced to answer their questions.
Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

Caylee was 2 when she was reported missing in July 2008, one month after she was last seen alive. Her remains were found in a wooded area near the Anthony family's east Orange County home in December.

Anthony is currently being held at the Orange County Jail on no bond pending her trial. She could face the death penalty if convicted.
TV Special Raises Questions

Casey Anthony's parents sat down with "48 Hours" for a special, which raised several questions about the case.

Grandparents to slain toddler Caylee Anthony, George and Cindy Anthony have been in the spotlight since the 2-year-old was reported missing last summer.

Cindy Anthony told CBS's Maggie Rodriguez that the state is mistaken in assuming that Casey Anthony is the person who searched terms like "neck-breaking," "household weapons," and "how to make chloroform" on the Anthony family computer.

"I remember I looked up chlorophyll back in March of last year and I am not sure if I looked up chloroform as well," Cindy Anthony told prosecutors in a deposition.

Records show that Cindy Anthony was at work at the time the chloroform search was conducted, but she said her time sheets were not always 100 percent accurate.

Casey Anthony's attorneys also spoke in-depth with the show, including a comment about a DNA fragment on a piece of duct tape.

"Another party that did not belong to the FBI, did not belong to the law enforcement, did not belong to the Anthony family, left DNA on that duct tape," defense attorney Linda Kenney-Baden said.

According to court documents reviewed by Local 6 investigative reporter Tony Pipitone, the DNA Kenney-Baden is referring to is consistent with another FBI analyst who touched the tape. There is not enough DNA to say it was the analyst for sure, but there is also not enough evidence for the defense to go as far as to say it was a stranger's DNA.

Oh that silly, wacky Casey. She says the funniest things when under stress. But hey, Lenny did offer to pay for her manny and pedie to help her relax! After that she should have been able to tell the truth! Must have been the additional stress of living under the same roof as Cindy? But now, she hasn't been there in close to a year, hmmmm, is she de-stressed now?? Nope, her chip order was denied! I was, (painfully and without sedation,) reading George's depo and it occured to me that his obsession with the placing of the duct tape on the gas can might have something to do with his throwing Casey under the bus.  What if there's a Casey matched fingerprint on this piece?  It's possible since she had the cans in her possession, and he's so finicky about how neat he would do this job.  Not the definitive evidence that a fingerprint on the duct tape on poor little Caylee's face would have, but why is he insisting that he didn't put it there?

I did remember that grand jury testimony in the Barry Bonds case WAS ......but checked it to make sure I wasn't mistaken.....so the bottom line is I guess it can be...now will it be......... does the defense has to request it first??

How can Cindy and George say that this was the FIRST check they have ever received?? What about all those interviews, straight from the beginning??? They have been flown all over the United States, put up in the best hotels, wined and dined to the extreme, yet they have NEVER received a dime before this?? How stupid do they think we are??

I would love to read what he actually said in that Grand Jury. That was the last time I ever had any respect for him, walking into that courtroom with Mark Nejame, dressed appropriately as I recall, doing the right thing for his granddaughter.  ::MonkeyAngel::  If G $ C had kept Nejame, (and actually listened to his advice,)  I think public opinion would not be as virulently opposed to them.  Casey, on the other hand...I don't think anything's going to rehabilitate her in the public's eyes.
