More forensic evidence is expected to be heard as the murder trial of a Florida woman accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter enters its 12th day of testimony.

A research scientist testified Monday and was the latest prosecution witness to tie evidence of decomposing human remains to the car of 25-year-old Casey Anthony. Jurors are expected to hear more scientific testimony on Tuesday.

I am feeling that our country is in a very sad state if our courts allow this to go on. 

They, KC, Bozo, Jar, and all of the other people on the DT, have no conscience.  Bozo, if he was successful yesterday, could have ruined Dr. Vass' career in 1 day, all that he worked for.

I disagree very much so.  Who else would they get to testify to the air sample results?  All these experts, what jokes they are.

It is my opinion that if there was ANY overkill, it came from the defense and their complete dumbazz questions.  So Greta can kiss it.  All about the ratings.  Not a word about poor Caylee.  A big fight amongst lawyers, past and present.  It truly sickens me.   ::MonkeyNoNo::

I probably won't stay too long today if he starts his crap.  I also probably will not watch his case in chief.  From the looks of his witness list, it looks willy nilly.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason for who he has there.  He has people on there like Kristina, the one who cried on the phone if something happened to Caylee I'd die, you understand that, die.  What could she possibly provide the Defense with?  KC was a good mother until she killed Caylee?

Good morning.  That's the problem with the talking heads jumping on the ratings bandwagon.  They are not familiar with all of the facts.  Greta was the first one to drop this case and go the political route instead.  Now, with all of the rating going to those who cover this, she is back on it.  JMO

The only "overkill" was what ICA did to precious Caylee.  Greta knows better.

it is funny, but he is trying to ruin lives of innocent people and this is about a dead 3-yo that he is using others to get his client off with.  That is not funny to me.  Maybe I am too serious.  If he was not trying to ruin lives, reputations, and smear the memory of a 3-yo child, I would probably not care really what he does.

BBM.  Casey "appeared" to her aquaintances to be a good mother.  She also appeared to have a nanny, have a job etc.  We all know different.  Appearances will not keep the jury from finding her guilty.  They can shout from the roof tops all day long how Casey was a good mother.  That doesn't wipe away the 31 days, the evidence in the car, the evidence at the dump site, nor does it take away the duct tape on Caylee.  ::MonkeyMad:: The DT disgusts me....and I have a feeling its only going to get worse.

After watching Bozo's performance while the state presents its case, can you imagine what his presentation will be like?  Poor Jeff will need new springs in his chair from all the popping up and down.  Maybe he should just start off with a general 'your Honor, the state objects to this joke-of-an-atty presenting any case before the court' and be done with it.

You can tell he is a really nice guy.  I like how he's "afraid" to offend anyone by talking down to them.

My favorite was "I just like saying yag" (yak? yag? whatever it was)

I can just imagine the defense lawyer school he went to.

Their mantra is.

Lie, lie, lie.
Use everybody.
Spare nobody.

There is no rhyme or reason for anything bozo does. I think someone mentioned that it was Mason that served vass yesterday. He has been an atty for many years. I dont understand his behaviour! I dont see professionalism. I see total ghetto. I am wondering why is baez doing all the talking. I thought mason  and simms were there to take a part in the questioning the witnesses.   The prosecution works hand in hand! with each doing their part. This is the strangest court room behaviour and  totaly off the hook .

That's interesting.  I hadn't really thought about how the State would cross examine the defense's witnesses, I've been so irritated at the Baez butchering of innocent people.  Jeff can be pretty passionate and hard nosed...I'm with you, I hope they don't go overboard...But I think this isn't their first rodeo, I'm pretty sure they'll be professional. ::CowboySmiley::

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- On day 23 of Casey Anthony's murder trial, jurors are expected to hear more about forensic evidence, one day after groundbreaking evidence was introduced into the trial.
For the first time, testimony about controversial air tests was introduced on Monday, and the state hoped an expert on human decomposition could convince the jury Caylee Anthony's body was in her mother's car trunk before her remains were discovered.

Vass explained that the stain on the carpet contained acids generated by early stage human decomposition. He is a research scientist who's studied decomposing bodies for two decades.

He told jurors he was shocked to find 10,000 times the amount potentially deadly chloroform than would normally be expected in human decomposition alone.

“We were shocked. We've never seen chloroform in those levels before, at least I haven't,” he said.

On cross examination the defense found it difficult to grasp the scientific concepts enough to shoot holes in his testimony.

“Baez really didn't understand, nor have a grasp of the science behind those two statements wasn't able to lay a glove on him accordingly,” said WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer.

Sheaffer said cross-examination of Vass failed to discredit the doctor’s expert credentials.

“Baez could not shake it, and at the end of the day, I think the jury found him credible and that there was a dead body in the trunk of that car,” he said.

since bozos opening arguement ended with george holding a dead Caylee and no other information as what he did with her after that moment i have a feeling when the dog handlers come in he will tie it in and try to say george put her in the playhouse, i think what george needs to understand is how much Casey hates him to do this to him. the fact that she told jesse and tony about the abuse bozo will say see she was talking about it long before this happened with Caylee, there was on atty on Dr. Drew who said she had been abused up until she got married 10 years ago and she said no way did Casey plan to kill Caylee, she knows nothing about the case to say that, i hate these people who know nothing and want to now insert themselves for their 5 minutes of what they think is fame

I have no problem if he was being hard on teh evidence, but he is trying to make these experts into idiots.  Like the hair lady, he made sure he asked her if she failed a proficiency test, and she said yes.

But, I am sure her employer would not have her employed there any longer if they felt she no longer met the qualifications.  He does not need to worry about her career performance. 

If he does not agree with the results of their findings, that is one thing, but stop badgering the witnesses with just smearing. 

I have no problem with Jeff being passionate about evidence or facts, but I would not want him to stoop to Bozo's level of smearing everybody. 

The Jar is not a gentleman, southern or otherwise.  I grew up in the south, and no man would ever treat a woman the way he does.  I find him rude and arrogant to everyone, and that Jubilation T. Cornpone act just makes my flesh crawl. Plus I think he's a crappy lawyer. (Can you tell I don't like him?)

Zoo, I agree, the badgering of witnesses is offputting at best.  I think Baez does this because he doesn't understand the science.  His level of expertise is dirt finding, (hence the "investigative" hours.)  I think after he loses his law license, (hopefully,) his next career should be with one of those nasty tabloids.

You know what is funny?  Every time I hear a TH say what a good lawyer Mason is, my mind immediately goes to the conviction of his last client Nelson Serano (spelling) and his death sentence. 

I hope the jury sees how nasty Baez is today.  I wonder if the jury will feel sorry for Casey because of her inept attorney?

Just wait until Kronk is on the stand....Baez will show himself up good then.

The defense is disputing the trunk smelling of human decomposition versus the smell being that of garbage.   As Simon Burch testified that the smell did not follow the bag when he put it in the dumpster at the tow garage, Geraldo Bloise testified that the contents of the garbage bag did NOT smell like the trunk.

I'm confused about why the trash would not smell like decomp if it was in the trunk. Caylee's baby smelled like the decomp.

Maybe the date proves she was there immeidately after her daughter supposedly drowned in the pool, iin black and white.  Up till now it was said she was there, but htis shows a date?

It may be because those receipts tie that bag to totmom.  The bag was thrown in the dumpster and I think this is to prevent bozo from saying this is not the bag that was actually in the car.  I can see him saying it is the wrong bag and the real one had the hamburg that someone ate while wearing a bag.

so maybe the trash was put in the car much later than caylee?  closer to the time it was found, and casey was using it at her personal garbage dump?

I am thinking because of the things in the trash bag, the materials were not porous to let the smell sink in .  The plastic would not absorb the smell. The baby doll was cloth and soaked up the smell.

If the entire car smelled like decomp it's bugging me how the trash wouldn't take on that smell as well.  By all accounts, that car reeked.

O.k., somebody walk me through this.  The trash bags we're looking at now did not smell like decomp, but did have maggots on the outside of the bag? The doll, however, did smell like decomp.  The doll had to be in the trunk, in contact with decomp. Yes?  Do we have any record of the car seat smelling like decomp?  Cindy told us that Casey's pants on the back seat next to the car seat smelled like decomp.  Given the fabric covering and padding, if it was simply an odor transfer issue, the car seat should have smelled strongly also (particularly if it was close to the pants-within a few feet).

Chloroform will be the single most important forensic issue in the trial. Whether one believes Caylee's death was intentional or accidental the significance is that chloroform was used on Caylee. Such use constitutes child abuse. A death resulting from child abuse is first degree murder. I don't think the can really needs to be opened. Most likely only a few jurors have ever smelled decomp before and I see no reason to subject these good people to one of the most horrendous odors on Earth.  We have already heard numerous people, who are very familiar with the smell, testify to what the odor was.  That should be adequate, imo.

Prob thinking of how much longer this is going to take. 

We are going now 3 weeks just about plus 11 days jury selection and still NO END IN SIGHT.

He is spending tons of money for a single skenky hoe, who he knows is guilty.  That is my opinion and I am sticking to it.

Did you receive a trash bag from Awilda McBride?  Yes, July 16th 11:06pm.  He took possession from McBride.  He removed the items from the plastic bag and photographed each item as it was removed.
Showing the jury the trash bag as received from McBride, pic published to jury.  White trash bag with blue handles, it was contained in two brown bags, one on top, one under.  The pic shows the white trash bag on the brown paper bag.  The brown paper bag has some liquid on it.  The exterior of the plastic bag was a little wet.  The handles were not tied and the mouth of the bag was open.  He took a picture of the whole bag and then took the items out and took a pic of that, it is published to the jury.  He pulled the items out of the bag.  The pic shows the items after they were pulled from the bag.  Published to the jury.  He did a visual and photos of the items then he put them in a dry room.  Some of the items were wet but smelled like normal trash, did NOT smell like the car.  The items were in the dry room for from July 16th to July 18th and then they were place into a box into an evidence locker.  So they were in the dry room for 2 days.  The were then dry.  Showing a picture taken of the items July 16, 2008 when he received them.  A close up photo, everything is empty, published to the jury. 
He is pointing out a napkin in the close up photo.  He is pointing out napkins in a plastic bag, he put them in the plastic bag on the night he received them July 16th, 2008.  Published to the jury.  They are napkins or paper towels.  He eventually placed all of the items out on a table and photographed them.  Napkins, alum foil, empty box of cigs, bottle of Arm and Hammer detergent, coat hanger published to jury.  Next picture shows items he inventoried from trash bag, published to the jury.  Dryer sheet, foil, papers, bottle of Cyrstal Lite, other items...Next photo is a table full of items from the white plastic trash bag, published to the jury.  This is the entire contents of the plastic bag.  Next picture is of a receipt from Fusion Ultra Lounge, it was in the white trash bag.  Baez objects to it being put into evidence....overruled, published to the jury.  Next photo is a document from Full Sail University, it was in the white trash bag.  It is received into evidence and published to jury.  Linda is showing him a box, he recognizes it as the box he put all the trash items in, it has his seals and initials.  She hands him another box, he recognizes it with his initials and seals, it contains the paper towels from the trash bag.  She asks to introduce them and Baez objects because of chain of custody, one can be admitted, the other has to wait till the person who gave it to him testifies about it.  Bloise did a written inventory of all the items he collected from the white trash bag.  He is referred to it, there are 37 items in the bag.  He placed each of them into separate items.  They are...empty Cherry Coke can, empty Coke Classic, empty Milw Lite beer can, empty Sprite can, empty Copenhagen tobacco can, one hair pin, 3 plastic tie wraps, empty Dr Pepper plastic bottle, empty Coke can, empty Mt Dew can, Empty Oscar Meyer plastic container,  Cyrstal Lite bottle with brown liquid in it,  empty Kiwi shoe cleaner, empty Arm and Hammer detergent, empty Crystal Lite bottle, empty pizza box, empty Coke Classic can, empty Velveeta, empty Velveeta carton, empty Velveeta carton, empty Parliment cig box, empty Marlboro pack, empty Velveeta box, Doc Full Sail, 4 dryer sheets, 3 foil pieces, piece of fabric that says made in Honduras,  I missed some of the items, he was talking fast, lol.  37 items in total all items were empty but the bottle that had brown liquid.  Everything else was totally empty.  The dryer sheets were in the vehicle not the trash bag.  Linda is done....

Some were wet and some were dry.  You put them in the dry room to dry?  Yes.  Then they were dry?  Yes.  He is showing him a photo...these two photos look completely different because of what was done in the dry room.  You were testifying about things being empty after coming out of the dry room.  You had no idea that this would latter become critical evidence?  Correct.  So it was not your intention to destroy evidence but that is kinda what happened? Linda objects, Sustained.  Sir, you had no idea the evidence would be altered?  No, I just wanted to preserve it by the protocols we had.  I did not try to destroy any evidence, I followed protocol.  My question to you is that you had no idea that you were altering evidence before the jury saw it?  Sustained.  Was it you that packaged the paper toweling?  Yes.  They were at one time moist?  Yes and then they were placed in the dry room?  Yes.  and then they were placed in a plastic bag?  He is talking in circles.  You separated these towels and place in a plastic bag?  Yes.  You did not know later on that it would need to be tested for DNA?  No, I saw no blood or body fluid, just wet and he saw no forensic values for DNA.  You know that you can test for things other than blood for DNA?  Yes.  You can test saliva and semen for DNA?  Yes.  And sir it was not your intention to destroy evidence?  Objection. Sustained.  JBP tells Baez to move on.

Linda is up.  Why do you need to dry these items?  To inspect them.  They let it dry because it preserves the condition, if the item is left wet it will become moldy.  The protocol says they must be dried. 

Baez is up.  As part of your protocol you dry evidence?  Correct.  Did you know air samples would be taken of the trash?  No.  You are aware.......objection...sustained.

Next witness is Arpad Vass.

Jeff Ashton is up.

He is correcting a mistake he made yesterday about a can.  Jeff Ashton got cans mixed up.  Showing Dr Vass a can and asking him if he sees his initials on it and he is changing one can for another.  Objection overruled and can is submitted into evidence.  Jeff is done.

I think they ought to give the jury the option of taking a whiff if they want.  Some of the jurors are nurses, it's possible one of them could offer to smell and tell the rest whether it is decomp or not.  I have never smelled it, and would opt out of this offer myself :-)

If the state is saying chloroform was used on Caylee, they need to show that.  For me, right now, it looks like an inuendo that chlorofrm was used, but have not shown anything to back that up.  I think the jurors think the chloroform in the trunk was from decomp.  So, I do not know what they have back there in their little bag of tricks, but they have to show how it was used.

The pool isnt the source because the Anthony's do not use chlorine products but a substitute.  The trash does not contain it standing alone.  Casey's computer searches three months in advance on her secured user account (separate of George & Cindy's log in) indicates premeditation.  No, they do not have to show how it was used.

Yes, I know the pool was not teh source, nor the garbage, and I know about the searches, but they have not shown them yet, and that happened bofore Caylee went missing.  That should have gone first, I think, and I do think they have to show how it was used.  And, all the jury keeps hearing right now is chloroform, but nothing to base where it came from.

O.k., HUGE problem for the defense.  If the A's use Baquacil (as shown in their Greta V walk through) and Caylee was with "Zanny" for 31 days, how did a wet bathing suit of Caylee's (ergo, the chloroform ) get in the trunk to start with? A child's bathing suit is not going to test that high for chloroform residue, nor the trunk liner, nor the carpet...especially if the child has not been in the vehicle for 31 days because she's been with "Zanny".  Problem!

Ridiculous question...Rickenback already stated he conducted a "qualitative analysis" NOT a "quantitative analysis." He was simple looking for chloroform, NOT measuring chloroform concetrations. It's either there or it isn't! He wasn't asked to conduct any test to determine chloroform concentrations until later on...

Yes, because chloroform does not stick around, he is suprised he found any at all.  So, therefore, teh quantityhe found was minute, but for even minute amounts to be there, the starting quantity, before 31 days passed had to be huge.  So, not huge blow for prosecution.

I think it's good for the prosecution because it implies that there was sufficient chloroform that some was left on the sample instead of dissipating into the air. If there had just been a small quantity, it would have all been dissipated by the time Rickenbach opened the box, and the sample would not have shown evidence of chloroform.

So, in essence, 31 days later the amount of chloroform residue still present testifies to an excessive amount of chloroform in the trunk to begin with. Therefore, that initial amount, was in excess of that normally found as a byproduct of the trunk carpet manufacturing process, an empty laundry detergent bottle, or wet/damp toddler bathing suits (not found in the trunk, nor was a dry one in Caylee's bag in the car or at Tony's).

When Vass got off the stand yesterday, it was likely that everyone hearing the testimony had a pretty clear opinion as to the significance of the chloroform in the trunk. The FBI witness has allowed for the possibility of that opinion to be muddied. I think that's much more likely for a juror that is predisposed to find Casey innocent, but I wish this witness from the FBI hadn't been part of this case or at least testified BEFORE Vass.

What I think I heard him say was it was inappropriate to give a percentage, but Jeff pressured him to give a percentage.  The test he did was qualitative, not quantitative.  Why they didn't run quantitative tests, though, is beyond me.

You are correct.  The FBI guy has never tested air for chloroform.  The mistake came from Dr. Vass identifying the wrong can for the prosecution.  They brought him back today to correct the error.  No biggie on that.  Hope that helps some.

As far as the chloroform testimony, all I can say is the testimony was confusing. I need to listen to it again.

Zoomomology- I hear you.  The overwhelming issue for the defense though is there's no need for chloroform in a trunk period. The secondary issue for them is that there is no logical (i.e. naturally occurring ) source for chloroform found in the suspects trunk with the victim's decomposition fluids and the victim's root-banded hair. The third issue is the amount of chloroform necessary to leave detectable residue 31 days later in FL temps, as chloroform is unstable and readily dissipates.  Which brings us full circle to issue number 1. What logical reasons would a 21 year old have for driving around a car with chloroform in the trunk? With the odor of decomp.? Not trying to be argumentative here and I do see your point about physically tying the chloroform to Casey.  That's where the computer searches tie in though, for recipes to make chloroform= means. No one else had possession of the car in the 31 days= opportunity.  Casey was telling friends she, alone, was getting the house= motive.  JMO

He works for the FBI as a Forensic Tech.  He has been with the FBI for 20 years, 2 BA in Science, a Master's in Science and a Ph.D in Science.  He has testified many times. 

Judge Perry has excepted him as an expert in Forensic Science.

He examined a few items belonging to Caylee Marie Anthony.  He examined items during a break and recognized them.  Moving the first item into evidence, something in a black trash bag.  Moving next item into evidence it is the trunk spare tire liner.  Showing the Dr a box of evidence, he recognizes it and it is moved into evidence.  Next item is a box, he recognizes it.  Next item is a can in a plastic bag, he recognizes it.  All received into evidence.  Were you asked if you inspected these items for Chloroform?  Yes.  How?  He did a visual exam first then he took samples and placed them into a vial and did head space Chromatography.  First item is Q,  it is a piece of spare tire cover.  He opened the can observed the material inside and took a cutting and put it in a sealed glass vial then did head space Chromatography.  When you opened the can, how did you describe that smell in your report?  Baez asks for a side bar..........

What was the results of Q?  Residue of chloroform were on that specimen.  What is Q? It was a piece of spare tire cover, it was subjected to the same analysis, what was the result?  It had residue of chloroform.  Showing him Q, it was subjected to the same analysis, had the same result, residue of chloroform.  Q23 is a the spare tire cover, he shows the jury the part he tested.  Q23 had residues of chloroform.  Q24 is a piece of left side of trunk liner, it had residue consistent with chloroform.  The difference between consistent only one technique was positive, not both.  Q25 is right side of trunk liner, it was consistent with chloroform.  The results on the left and right side of the trunk liner were consistent with chloroform.  Jeff is done

Tell the jury about the GCMS is an instrument for the separation and analysis of chemicals.  It is very, very sensitive.  It can detect things down to very, very small amounts of chemicals.  Then you did a second test?  Yes, it is a little different, it uses a different filter.  Residue is usually found in a liquid state, these items had no liquid but the instrument found the residue in very, very small amounts.  You can find chloroform in household items?  Correct.  It can be in detergents and drinking water.  It can also be found in chlorine in a swimming pool?  I don't know.  If someone threw  a bathing suit...sustained.  Do you know anything else chloroform can be found in?  I just know cleaning products.  That would be found in small amounts, similar to these items, yes.  Baez just got out his big scribble pad.  Can you explain what a GCMS is?  It is a signal coming from the instrument, it detects it, with a graph.  The witness is going to the big scribble pad.  The FBI Dr is drawing a GCMS graph.  Looks to me like an EKG, don't know how else to describe it, a graph with points up and down.  There is a thing called a quantitative analysis and a qualitative analysis, what is the difference.  The FBI Dr says, qualitative tells you its there and quantitative tells you how much.  If you are going to report out an amount you need a standard.  He did two standards.  How did you determine they were at very, very low amounts?  By running two samples.  He found out using a known amount of chloroform, it was positive for chloroform.  It was not the most chloroform he had seen in 20 years.  It was not shockingly high.  Baez is breaking it down to item tested.  Q22 is a piece of a spare tire cover, it had residue of chloroform, very low levels.  Q23 was the spare tire cover, the entire cover, he ran a test on an area of it, it had low levels of chloroform.  Q24 was the left side of trunk liner, this was consistent with chloroform, consistent means one test detected it and the second method didn't pick it up.  Consistent is a tricky phrase right?  Yes.  Q25 was the right trunk liner, it was consistent with chloroform, one test was very low levels, 2nd test didn't pick it up.  Next item is Q44 a piece of the spare tire cover, it had residue of chloroform at low levels compared to positive control.  Q45 was a piece of the spare tire, it had residue of chloroform at low levels.  Did you test the steering wheel cover?  Side bar...........

Baez is still up, objection, sustained.  Dr, these levels, residue levels are equal to what you might find in a common cleaning product?  Yes.

Jeff Ashton is up.........

Did you find anything else that found cleaning products?  I didn't do analysis for cleaning products.  You talked about low levels, that is relative to high?  Yes.  Have you ever tested a dry item for chloroform?  No, they are usually liquid.  What might be a high or low quantity of a carpet sample?  I don't know, I have never done a test on one.  With regard to the spare tire cover, how did it come to you?  How was it packed?  Inside a cardboard box.  What effect would that cardboard box have on a substance like this?  It would leak out.  Were you surprised you got any level of chloroform off of these items?  Yes, it is a violative substance and I was very surprised to get any amount of chloroform but I was still able to get chloroform off that unsealed object.  High and low is intensity of the peak.  Sort of an idea of how much is there.  The control standard is one you mixed, a known amount of chloroform, a known amount of chloroform it was one hundred parts per million.  That is the standard he used to determine detect the qualitative positive control.  Later on he was asked to give quantity, it is a very rough estimate of the level he detected.  Q22 is a piece of spare tire cover in an air tight can, was that a better way to submit it in a can is the appropriate way to do it.  On Q22 he could find better how much chloroform was on it.  He later gave a percentage of it to the standard...it was 5 percent of the positive control.  A very rough estimate.  Q23 was about .1 percent, Q23 was the actual unsealed trunk liner.  The sealed item contained much higher levels of chloroform.  Q24 was in a sealed container and the rough percentage on that was 1 percent compared to positive control.  Q25 was roughly 2 percent.  Whatever the amount of chloroform is on the sample, would it have evaporated prior to it being put in the can?  It is possible.  If the trunk were left open for hours and the sample was taken 2 weeks before the sample was taken, would you expect it to evaporate?  Yes, I would expect less to remain than in a closed container. Other than testing for chloroform in liquid, have you ever tested chloroform in an air sample?  No, I have no first hand knowledge of air samples.  So your examples of high, low or shocking, you have no knowledge of that from your testing?  Correct, it was based on my testing, not air samples.  Objections all over ruled.  Jeff is done.

Baez is up and dropped his big scribble pad, smiled as he picked it up.  Dr. you testified that doing a quantitative amount is not the correct way to do it?  Yes.  You would not do that?  No, I would not give an amount because it is not appropriate in a court of law.  You have no experience in collecting chloroform in a solid carpet samples?  No.  So trying to guess how much would be wrong?  Yes, that is why I did it in a qualitative way.  To give a quantitative amount would be speculation?  Yes.

If no way to determine the amount of chloroform, how do you know it is in cleaning products?  It is just the amounts that are detectable.  So when you answered Baez you simply meant you have detected chloroform in cleaning products?  Yes.  Witness is excused, subject to recall.

Next state witness is Jason R. Forgey.

He works for the OC Sherrif's office, he is a canine handler.  He currently handles a German Shepard.  He has handled canines since 2001.  He cross trained with the Canine Unit, prior to going into the Canine Unit.  He transferred there in 2001.  He received a dog in 2001, he went into training and had a blood hound originally.  He trained with a dog and he went to scent training.  That training was 5 weeks long, 3 weeks in a classroom and 2 weeks in a field.  His first dog was Canine Garret.  He did follow up training of 2 training tracks a month.  He was tested with his dog quarterly.  He worked with Canine Garret for 10 to 11 months till he had to be put down.  Then he received Ike another blood hound, trained the same.  You teach the dog how to scent train.  He worked with Canine Ike years later in 2005, he gave him to another trainer.  He worked with other dogs at the same time.  He received Bones a cadaver dog.  A cadaver dog is a single purpose dog.  He is taught to find human decomp.  He was part of the 911 disaster.  He used Bones there.  He is explaining how you teach a cadaver dog.  You imprint him on the odor and then train him to do a final alert.  Like telling him to sit, then you reward him.  You put odor in one can and put out multiple cans and you reinforce when he gets the right one with a treat or a toy and praise.  I final trained alert is a sit or a down at finding decomp.  The dog is taught to work to source and then alert.  You will see his behavior change, body and breathing changes, he is finding the odor, working to source then give final trained alert.  You can see that there is a behavioral change then the dog will give a final, trained alert.  He trained Bones to do this.  Bones final, trained alert was a sit.  What sort of aid did you use to imprint bones on decomp?  He used rags with human decomp, rags soaked in a chest cavity of a dead person.  Then move to different training aides...he went next to human bones, placentas, chest cavity rags, pseudo scent of drowned victims.  A man made odor made to smell like a drowned victim.  The tablet puts out an odor to be like a drowned victim.  Other training aides were blood, tissue, grave dirt.  Bones was taken out of the canine unit because they wanted a full service dog not a one purpose dog.  Bones was tried to make a full service dog but he didn't work out, then they made the decision to retire Bones and he went home with a Capt of the agency.  He went to work at another agency to be used as a cadaver dog in Osceola County.  Forgey was the only cadaver dog user in the area.  Then Forgey got a full service dog, he got Gerris, a German Shepard.  Gerris came from Germany, he was 21 months old when Forgey got him his birthday was October 20th, he will be nine this October.  Gerris was sent through a full service training.  A 400 hour school of basic dog training, scent, man tracking, criminal apprehension.  Gerris was then certified by FDLE.  He was evaluated in all his training and passed his certification.  Forgey was tested with him.  After he was certified Gerris receive additional training in cadaver training, 100 hours.

I totally know how you feel, I hate her too.  When it gets me really angry I like to think about how much her life sucks already and how much worse it is going to suck regardless of the outcome of this case.  If she walks, I bet someone will kill her or beat her a$$ to within inches of her life.  She will never have another romance, or spend time alone with a guy she likes.  She will never be able to seek employment (not that she would anyway).  She will never be a mom again.  She deserves to suffer and suffer she will.  No need to worry 'bout that  ::MonkeyWink:: ::MonkeyCool::

Zoo, the other day I saw a deputy tell her to wait.  I think they want the halls clear before they escort her out, possibly for safety and security reasons.  They don't want her schmoozing in the hallways.

Ugh, I tweeted Jim Lichenstein, asking why she hangs around, we will see if he answers me.

I thought the door opened into like a jail holding area?  No?  Would they take a murder suspect, unhandcuffed, unshacked into the regular halls? 

During the hearings, she was cuffed as soon as she went out the door. I assume she still is, although I have not been able to actually see it happen during the trial.

I also understand she eats jail food for lunch. Not sure where, but I suspect at the jail.

IMO the difference between this guy and Dr. Vass was that:

1.  Rickenbach works for the FBI and the FBI's rules on testifying in court are they are not IMO allowed to say 100% sure of anything & certainly aren't allowed to bring in any of their emotions (ie. Dr. Vass = 'shocked'  'jumped back').  Perhaps in the FBI's attempt to 'standarize' everything & protect them (us the taxpayers) from lawsuits...they have turned their witnesses into robots.

2.  Baez was NOT able to confuse Dr. Vass with his stupid and inane questions.  That was not the case w/Dr. Rickenbach.  

PS.  I sure hope that Bloviating Pig (LKB) isn't making her 'rounds' today.  If anyone knows what shows the BPig is going to be on, please warn me in advance as I don't think I can take another minute of her 'plumped' up lips, botox face & straw hair.  TIA

I think as long as one of her attorneys is there and there seems to be some conversation, they probably will allow it.....I don't know if they filed a motion about where she eats...didn't see anything..but she is not eating in the court room...I can guarantee that...there  is a cell behind those doors and that's where she goes. She is still in custody even back there. That is also where she changes clothes when she gets there in the morning and again when court is over. She also eats a lunch provided by the jail. LOL..I have no first hand knowledge of this...just what I have been told by someone who knows. ::MonkeyWink::

shari, as much as I would like to agree with you.....I can't......many criminals walk free among us....she would too...I think she would move and just start a new life....some idiot would marry her and she'd have another child as quickly as possible. However, I do not feel she will walk....she will go to prison.

during breaks I thinks she is taken to the holding cell in the back and that is also where she eats  a lunch brought over by the jail....I remember JP saying one time,  her meal had arrived from the jail.

ITA.  I want to hear and see what's going to be presented about the Anthony's back yard too!  My Mom is watching the trial on TV and says she's trying to stay neutral, but has said she thinks Caylee died by accidental drowning.  She hadn't been following the trial previously and doesn't read at Scared Monkeys so she isn't up to speed on some stuff.  I think what's coming up will change her mind.

I went back and watched the OS of the Prosecution again.  Most of the time, KC shook her head no, especially in regards to what was being said about her whereabouts and her mother.  IMO, her head shaking has severely diminished as we have progressed throughout the trial and I wonder if she now knows that she will be found guilty.  She may not get the DP but she will get LWOP.  Also, I can't see Judge Perry giving the death penalty even if the jury convicts her of it.  I just can't see him doing that.  Maybe because I think he's too nice but of course, it's all JMO and MOO.   ::boxingcasey2::

Jurors heard about a variety of evidence from several state witnesses in the first-degree murder case against Casey Anthony today, ranging from chloroform residue detected on items in her car to garbage found in the trunk.

Dr. Michael Rickenbach, a forensic chemist examiner with the FBI, told jurors he tested items from Casey Anthony's Pontiac Sunfire for chloroform, including fabric from a spare tire cover.

Rickenbach said residue of chloroform was identified on the item. Several jurors appeared to document this in their notes as Rickenbach testified.

He also said a chemical consistent with chloroform was found on fabric from the left and right sides of the trunk liner.

Chloroform can be deadly if inhaled, and investigators said someone at the Anthony's home searched the Internet for the term on the family computer.

Rickenbach, the state's third witness to testify today, told jurors chloroform is a volatile substance that doesn't stay around long. He told prosecutor Jeff Ashton he would have expected the chloroform to volatilize by the point of testing.

"I was surprised to even get any results for chloroform," he said.

CBS/WKMG/AP) ORLANDO, Fla. - The defense in the Casey Anthony murder trial suggested Tuesday that crime scene evidence - garbage found in the trunk of Anthony's car - had been altered by a crime scene technician.
Gerardo Bloise, an Orange County Sheriff's Office CSI technician, testified about trash found in the trunk of Anthony's car, listing 37 items found in a bag, including napkins, receipts, soda cans and an empty pack of cigarettes, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

Anthony's defense attorney Jose Baez asked Bloise why he dried out the garbage, which the defense contends created a foul odor in the car. Prosecutors say the smell was caused by human decomposition.

"You had no idea it would alter significant items in this case?" Baez said during cross-examination.

Bloise said he was following protocol, since drying out evidence preserves it and makes it easier to examine.
