KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Techniques and tools developed in East Tennessee are playing a key role in the trial of Casey Anthony, the Florida mother accused of killing her two-year-old daughter.

Dr. Bill Bass, the man behind the University of Tennessee's body farm, explains why the science, which now seems to be on trial, is reliable.

"The body farm really is looking at some really important, cutting-edge science. It just isn't every day you get a Caylee Anthony case to apply it to," said Dr. Bass, a forensic anthropologist.

Dr. Bass says the research findings being used in the Anthony trial were developed at the body farm, and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory scientist who testified Monday, Dr. Arpad Vass, is his former student.

"They're trying to make Arpad look dumb and like this is voodoo science or something like that," said Bass. "But if you get rid of all of the 'I'm for this guy and against that one,' and you're looking at it scientifically, it is good research."

Morning Jesse.  Not sure if it has been determined the tape was applied BEFORE Caylee died.  I think the autopsy report said, BEFORE DECOMP.

I wonder if this might come in when Dr. G. testifies. 

Morning Jesse, if you are referring to what Dr. G. said, she said the tape was put before decomposition....not before death.

 'The duct tape found on the head of the skeleton was clearly placed prior to decomposition, according to the autopsy report.'

It looks bad for Casey Anthony on TV — and even worse in court

I envisioned Baez rising to the challenge, like some rookie law-school graduate in a John Grisham novel. That has not happened.

If he appears flustered and incompetent on television, the perception is only magnified in the courtroom. The word "overruled,'' uttered time and again by the judge in response to his objections, carries a bigger sting in the quiet chamber.

       

I have no idea, but I sure would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in there ::MonkeyDevil::

Even though there were some minor hits taken by the State yesterday (Tuesday) when it came to some seemingly contradictory positions from their experts concerning chloroform, it now appears inescapable that Casey Anthony was searching on her computer on how to make it. Concerns tying her to the chloroform are eliminated by these searches. Chloroform is among the most damning hard evidence which will help convict her of murder.

Rode elevator w/ Jude(Judge) Strickland. He says he wants to stay as far from Casey Anthony (23rd) floor as possible.

Strickland said he had to use the regular elevators because the jury was in the judicial elevators.

Judge Strickland recused himself in April 2010. when he drives in and sees the lot across the street he's thankful he's no longer on case

I am getting so tired of people commenting on how tiny KC is, like it makes a difference??? Like it means something????  My sister in law is 5'2" weighs 105 and is strong as a horse....she is pure muscle...not an ounce of fat ....she grabs 50lb bag of dog food and slings it on her shoulder like it was a feather pillow.....but she never murdered her 30lb. child.

Last night Dr. Drew said he had spoken to George's ex wife. He said she spoke highly of him...BUT also said he had a serious problem with lying. When asked if she felt Casey learned this behavior from her father, the ex wife said, "No, I think it is a hereditary trait."

Sure makes one wonder what is behind that statement.

He is an idiot.

Someone should explain to Baez that anyone can start a website or a blog.  Baez is such an idiot, I really can't stand him.  I would not classify www.sci-spot.com as a blog.  It may be contributed to by self professed amateurs but that doesn't mean their information is not factual and resourceful.

State witness John Bradley is back on the stand.........

Baez is up for recross...............

John Bradley is a computer forensic expert for the state.  Baez is pleasing the court.  John Bradley says he had the headers and the footers for the history he decoded.  He was asked to do that because OC had done a net analysis.  He used a different software. He was given one deleted Fire Fox 2 history file.  Baez is showing him a copy of a report and he asks if it is authored by him, lol.  When he mentioned the 84 hits to SySpot.com, he did not have the whole URL for that.  He is correcting Baez on what reports that he is looking at.  He is approaching the witness with a report not created by him.  He did not perform that report at all.  All he can testify to is the URL links that he found.  They do not refer to 84 hits?  Mr Bradley says that it does not refer to the URL site, it just counts how many times it was hit.  Baez asks about the page refreshing and Bradley doesn't know.  He was brought in 9 months later....Sustained and he is arguing with the judge about it.  There are no other internet searches in Apr, June, July 2008?  He doesn't recall looking at anything outside the month of March.  Linda asked about printing out pages but you have no evidence that any pages were printed out, unless the printer left an artifact?  Correct.  Mr Bradley can't speak to what was found or not found, he does not know.  He was given no information but the data file.  Baez is done..............

The data file you were given encompassed a time in March 2008?  Yes.  The tab will only refresh if they page is open?  He explains that the page is not refreshed unless the user asks it to be refreshed.  The time sequence we alluded to, will a page remain active and use a new page and the old page will remain open.  Any succession on the internet history does not mean one tab is open and another tab is closed?  The site we are talking about is a blog?  I don't know which one?  The Syspot?  Sustained.  Anyone can write a blog?  Sustained.

On July 16, 2008 you were doing some searching on the Anthony family desk computer?  In Aug 2008 did Casey return home?  Yes, she did.  Did Casey then tell you a different story about what happened to Caylee?  Yes she did, she told me that Zanny and her sister met her at a Jay Blanchard Park and Zanny held Casey down and took Caylee from her with the help of her sister.  She was held by her wrists, they were sitting on a park bench and she was held down.  Casey told him why but he doesn't recall.  Mr Frank is referring him to his deposition.  He is showing him the Depo of July 30, 2009. Lee is reading the lines he was asked to.  What was the reason Caylee was being taken?  Casey wasn't being a good mother and was taking Caylee from her to teach her a lesson and not to go to the police.  She gave him a detailed description of Zanny, 5 feet 10 inches, long hair, good complexion, 100 lbs and she tanned, she was Hispanic.  Casey saw Caylee being taken from her, Lee doesn't recall again, having his memory refreshed.  Showing him a depot taken in Feb 2009, Lee says Casey was shocked at what was happening and it felt surreal to her.  She did not do anything to stop Caylee from being taken from her because she was scared.  Then Zanny was controlling her through My Space, she had Casey's PW and was sending her messages on what to instruct her to do.  She went to the places Zanny told her to go to.  Timer55 was the My Space PW.  Timer55 meant she did not create it but she thought it meant it was the date Caylee was taken from her till the day of Caylee's Birthday and she would be given back in 55 days.  She said she did not create this PW, Zanny did.  She did not say how Zanny was able to change her PW.  Mr George is done..........

His method of asking questions implies that what he (Baez) is saying is true.. Where he makes a statement and then says "wasn't there?" at the end and leads the next question as if the witness agreed.

Does anyone remember when Kronk started reading meters in the HopeSpring neighborhood?  I think he was there, then went to a different area and then was reassigned back to HopeSpring right around the time Caylee was reported missing.  Does that sound right?

Looking at the video of the massive search for evidence in the woods, cars, people, tents, etc., this turned the neighborhood upside down. Can't imagine how this case has affected neighbors, knowing now what they do about the Anthony family.

They just came back from a 5 minute recess...went to side bar...side bar is over.....

Linda is introducing something into evidence and Judge is reading a stipulation.  An OC meter employee made a 911 call and it is going to be played for them, it a true and accurate recording.

Orange County employees are telling 911 that Roy Kronk found a skull.  The operator is asking for information.  They tell them not to touch it.  Roy Kronk will wait for LE to get there.  This is a guy from utility customer service, name is Rusty.  Roy Kronk will be a OC vehicle.

The next state witness is Edward Turso.

He is employed by the OC Sheriff's office as a deputy.  He is in Sector 2 and was in Dec 11, 2008.  He arrived on scene to Suburban Drive to meet with Roy Kronk.  He has been shown his report and notes the time was 9:32am.  It was right at an intersection in a wooded area.  He met Roy Kronk and Roy Kronk told him he had to relieve himself in the woods and he found a skull.  Kronk led him into the woods, they passed the skull, then walked back to it.  Dep Turso walked over to the skull, looked at it and walked away.  Neither of them touched it.  He had Roy Kronk write a statement and he called his Sgt.  He taped off the scene.  Linda is done............

Did Mr Kronk tell you that he called 3 times in Aug?  Sustained.  Where you aware......sustained.  Did you have any conversations with Mr Kronk...sustained and the Judge tells him to move on.  Baez is asking Mason for help.  How far did you go into the woods?  20 feet from the street?  Was there grass that was mowed before you get into the wooded area?  I don't remember if there was a mowed section.  You don't recall or you don't remember?  I don't remember.  How far did you walk past the skull?  5 feet.  They walked back to the skull.  There was a fallen tree by it.  Do you remember seeing a bright red bag? No.  I just focused on the skull and the black bag next to it.  Baez wants a side bar............

Good morning Sunny.  Cindy had taken Caylee to the nursing home to visit her, Cindy's, father.  They came back with Mrs. Pleasea's house for lunch.  During lunch, Mrs. Pleasea told Cindy about Casey stealing yet again from the Pleasea bank account--this is all according to Mrs. Pleasea.  So, common sense tells me that Cindy would not be in the mood for a "Pleasant evening" with Casey.  Lee told Jessie Grund, who said so under oath in his deposition, that Cindy and Casey had a fight which resulted in Cindy putting her hands around Casey's throat and trying to throttle her. IMO there is no way Cindy was not livid with Casey for stealing from her grandparents again and I believe that a fight occured.  I also believe that Casey grabbed Caylee and left the house that night and killed her, but that's just my own opinion, formed from my interpretation of the above.

Why so many recesses?  And sidebar...geez.   If I was a juror I'd want to get this over with.

So are we thinking they the state may not call Kronk?  Since we now have the skull found?  OHHH photos .....

So far, for most of the trial, Casey has sat there like a statue no matter what the testimony and I expect it will continue even with crime scene photos shown, which I take to mean pictures of Casey's sparse remains.  In fact, Casey is so stone cold motionless, I would expect a pigeon to land on her head if it could get in the courtroom.  And I would hope that the pigeon would do what pigeons always do to statues.

Some time ago it was said the the photos will be shown in court but not on TV and not available to the public.  I can't give you a site because what knowledge I have about this case I keep in my head.  Maybe someone else can.

I don't see how they could...Every time I see Casey drink from her water bottle, I think, was Caylee thirsty with that duct tape around her little mouth?  and I get so sad.  Seeing the evidence of her tiny bones scattered is going to put me over the edge, I can't imagine what C and G would feel.  Casey, I believe she is going to try to be an Academy Award winner when viewing the photos, but unless she actually vomits on Baez, I think the jury will see through any reactions she has.

On another note, Capp, thanks for the descriptions of the photos. They are not showing them at all in the streams now.

Anyone  else notice when Casey does her "crying" she always looks at the tissue or her hands after wiping? She just did this blowing her nose and then reopened the tissue to use for her eyes which makes it really look fake.

After each and every pic is published I'm hearing the sound of nails being pounded into whorseface's coffin.

Dorothy Sims doesn't appear terribly sympathetic to Casey.  The camera has panned over to her and she seems pretty stoic.  Even her pats of Casey seem perfunctory.  Andrea Lyon seemed more emotional.  (I don't know if that would have been a good thing or not for the defense, just an observation.)

I agree. This is a terrible crime and I think all the evidence must be presented not just rhetoric.

My eyes swell, my nose gets bright red, and during times of mourning, I've had to use a hand towel as kleenex was useless.  The defense should've taught her how to really cry.

Before they started with the photos, I specifically noticed that KC had those sleeves stretched down over her hands, even up on her fingers. I agree, the public ought to be able to see all the evidence in this case.  The evidence is Caylee's last voice calling for justice.  Casey ought to be made to look at all of this as well.  Anything done for her comfort during this time is wrong, and minimizes Caylee, IMO.
