Here is another news flash to Greta and her panel.

All investigators would have had to do is read the witness statements and properly investigate what was already said.

Is that really a mystery? New info has also come forward and rom reanalyzing what has already been out there for two years.

I am in the process of writing a post that compares/contrasts MSM and SM ... when some of the stuff comes out, it may make some skin crawl and others will not be shocked at all. The media could care less about any story ... its shock value thats important for ratings. Then they could care less.

Tyler, you are so right.  Greta has her eye on her ratings and her paycheck.  That's it.  Just because she has a background in law does not make her "inclined" to do the right thing and pursue justice.  She pursues what's lucrative for Greta.

I don't know. . . why not just burn them?  I don't know what they were looking for but tend to think it was something else.  Perhaps actual remains or a temporary burial place.  Or something larger that would be hard to eliminate like a rug.  We know a mattress was found elsewhere but that would also be a possibility.

I wonder why they took the plant away.  Were they just looking under it or was it something about the plant after all this time?  Could the thorns on the leaves match something elsewhere like on Guido's face or what could they have been looking for today.  I don't think it was just to see what they might happen upon but do think they had something specific.  I hope they return tomorrow and search more.

They made this a common occurrence during the height of the investigation. Seems they are trying to avoid that onslaught of media 24-48 hrs coverage again.

When the heat was turned up, there were people who tried to set up the Kalpoes.  I also believe there was more than one car involved here.  Remember the significance of the car rental company?  The Kalpoes had access to multiple cars and knew how to switch out parts of the cars.  When the FBI went to Beth and Dave on June 10, they told them they saw blood in the car and there was no way she was still alive.  I believe this.  The chocolate, cleaning fluid crap was a set up to throw the investigation off and/or implicate the Kalpoes more than the Sloots.

Anna, regarding the forensics team taking the tree (bush, plant or whatever that thing is!) Depending on how deep or tangled the root system is, it can entangle items within it. Perhaps they want to untangle the roots and see if anything was buried under it and got entangled...like personal belongings of Natalees.

Perhaps this investigation is professional enough that the investigators will not talk to the media and will do their work without interference.  When the FBI work, the media is not a part of it.  Hopefully, this will happen here, too, and we'll know the outcome when it is done and not before.

Anna you are right about it being a temporary place to bury something.  I don't think they had enough time to burn anying.  What if Natalee didn't die right away.  What if there was so much blood that between dealing with a hurt Natalee they also have to deal with cleaning up the house.  By Beth arriving on that island so fast she screwed up their plans.  So now Paulus knows he is being watch and temporarily burys something in his yard.  We don't know exactly what it is but it's something.  Where is the one place in the VDS house would you put a body?  I would say the bathtub.  Paulus took long to answer the door for a reason.  He needed to get them away from that house so they could get rid of something.  Could it have been her body and then the next day he put other evidence in the yard.  At this point I just don't know anymore.

According to Beth and maybe JQK the warrant was for the whole property.  Joe Tacopina is the one who insists that ALE simply searched according to the court ordered search warrant.  They simply didn't get a warrant for the whole property.  Look for Greta's shade of lipstick on Joe T's behind.  Have the Forensic Institute of Holland verify that it IS in fact the same lipstick Greta is wearing and have them check for her DNA.

I don't think they fingerprint for licenses. I had to take an FBI background check in November and they used this machine that uses water and a clear scanner that is all computerized. Not like the old ink and rollers.

What I have always wondered about, is that it has been stated in the past(Frank Golba specifically) that Natalee was wearing some form of  jewelry. I know if any were found it would not be enough to tie anyone to the case. But murders so often retain "souvenirs" from their victims, that I would not be suprised if something along that line would be found  at the sloots.

No prints for passports either.  At least mine at age 15 didn't have hers printed for her passport.

Joe T was burbling that some of the forensic tests/equipment may not have been available to the Aruban LE.   Pffffttttt

Also I would expect there would plenty of Natalee's prints still available at her home????  Maybe it was dusted for prints two years ago?

Since this is near the 2 year mark of Natalee missing and close to the time schedule for the investigation to close or the case to close...I wonder if this is something they are doing or using so that they can claim to have searched and investigated all that they could and found nothing new. So now Paulus can take them back to court and sue this time?  hmmm was just wondering about that.

I was also wondering if Paulus was leaked or put on notice before hand on this search? He could of rid of any evidence lingering around, ie package Joran sent to Paulus with cd with pictures of Natalee and her drivers license, if this is true?

Today the Dutch team that came to Aruba about a week ago went at full force at Paul van der Sloot's house. They set up a tent there, they brought 3 dogs, they brought specific search equipment, they brought a judge and a Prosecutor with them and the began to search the premises of Paul's house.

Greta:

Have the premises ever been searched before Jossy?

Jossy:

No, not the house itself or the property but they did search Joran's apartment which is on the premises but not attached to the house itself. From there they took many black bags with them plastic bags with a lot of material which they sent to Holland

Greta:

Today, was anything seized?

Jossy:

We don't know that for certain because they kept a distance between our reporters and themselves. They went inside the property and did their searches and I know they dug up some holes and some holes somewhere on the property but we don't know what else they did. These people are very secretive.

Greta:

One of the things they had was a metal rod; we're looking at a picture right now that looks like that metal rod that's been reported. They had metal rods and shovels; any clue as to what they might have been looking for with those metal rods and shovels. I hate to be graphic, but are they looking for a body or something else?

Jossy:

I don't think they were looking for a body; I think they were looking for something else. They came down here with some specific idea of something to search for on that property. I don't think they would have moved so much human and financial resources just to put out a show for the press. I don't either think this search is based on a hunch or a rumor or some unspecific lead. Something brought them to Aruba and something took them directly to Paul van der Sloot's house and property.

Greta:

Is the search still under way or have they completed their work and they're gone now?

Jossy:

Their work is completed and they've retired to wherever they're staying in Aruba. They stayed there for about 8 hours from about 9:00 or 9:30 and they finished at about 5:30 in the afternoon

Jossy:

No arrests

They didn't as far as we know go to the Kalpoe residence did they?

Jossy:

No, the Kalpoe brothers were not part of this specific search

Greta:

Jossy do you have the sense that they are simply being complete and going back and finishing something they didn't do two years ago or do you have the sense that they are on to something?

Jossy:

I have the sense that they are on to something because as I said before, I don't think they would have moved so many people to Aruba with so much expense involved, so much energy and all this equipment and dogs; I don't think they came here for an unspecific reason. They must have had some leads and today the Ministry of Justice put out a Press Release in which they justified this, tying it to something that came up during their review of all these tons of documents and tapes that they took with them to Holland awhile back.

Greta:

Where is Joran van der Sloot? Is he in Aruba or in Holland?

Jossy:

Joran is still in school in the Netherlands. He's busy with his book over there.

Greta:

And Paul and Anita his parents, were they home at the time of this search?

Jossy:

No they weren't but they did go and inform Paul van der Sloot at the courthouse, he is a practicing lawyer now. He was at the courthouse and they went to inform him that they were going to perform this search and he went to his home and then he left after about 15 or 20 minutes and he hasn't been back by 6 o'clock.

Greta:

The fact that a Judge and Prosecutor were on the scene as the search warrant was being executed, is that peculiar or is that procedure?

Jossy:

That's normal procedure here.

Greta:

Karin Janssen who was the Prosecutor is no longer in Aruba, she's been removed, she's completed her term. She's not the one running this right?

Jossy:

No she's not, she's in Holland. She has another task over there. She's completely removed from this as far as officially is concerned.

Greta:

Who is in charge of this investigation?

Jossy:

This investigation is in charge by the people from Holland because remember that the Minister of Justice, Rudy Croes requested the intervention of the Dutch investigators in this case. These people belong to the forensic institute of Holland.

Greta:

Jossy, thank you sir.

What were the investigators looking for and what are the prosecutors hoping to prove. Our producer on the ground in Aruba caught up with the spokesperson for the Prosecutor's office earlier

What does Joran have to say about today's events? His american lawyer Joe Tacopina spoke with Joran earlier today. Joe Tacopina joins us.

What does your client say about this search at his home in Aruba?

Tacopina:

Not much, I mean he was surprised, did not know about it. He's pretty much accustomed to this sort of routine going on at this point, so nothing surprises Joran or the family. They're a little distressed, this is 2 years later and they're being placed back in the eye of the storm. We've been there before and this is going to be another scenario where they do a search, do a dig and come up with nothing because Natalee Holloway was never at that house.

I think this is a positive turn of events for the van der Sloots. I believe this could be the beginning of the end. The Aruban authorities I've been told today want to close this case. The Dutch authorities who oversee the Aruban authorities basically said that until they have all their questions answered, they're not going to do that. The first time the van der Sloot residence was searched, it wasn't searched thoroughly, it wasn't search completely because the warrant that was executed at the time, limited them to certain parts of the house and property. This warrant does not do that, it's letting them excavate, dig and do all these things. I think this will put to rest any notion

And Joe, how stupid was it that first warrant was so limited? Here's the thing that I don't understand: I've done this timeline with you, with Beth with Joran, I do not understand today if they're being so thorough today, why they didn't go over to the Kalpoe brothers' home and go through their yard, do everything over there. Do you have any information at all that they're going to do that?

Tacopina:

I have no information and in fact I don't believe they're going to do that. If they were going to do that, certainly the element of surprise would be gone. I know they didn't do a forensic sweep on that car

This is a different squad Greta, these are forensic professionals here. We had not had this before. These are people who came with the appropriate forensic equipment, modern day science, stuff that wasn't used early on in this investigation. I wish quite frankly it was but I have no information that they will be doing anything with the Kalpoes.

There have been some rumors, some leads you know. We heard at one point one of these advocates if you will, for the anti Joran movement that she's buried underneath the pool or something. So I don't know if they're following up on rumors, I don't know if they're looking to close up all the loose ends. I don't know if they're trying to make sense out of the inconsistencies in the stories initially told but look, I think quite frankly, once this investigation is done, when this search is completed, the forensic analysis is completed, I think this will prove once and for all that Joran had nothing to do with this and I hope it's the beginning of the end.

Greta:

If you're telling me that the forensic investigation done by Holland is profoundly more professional than the one that was done almost two years ago, I'm stunned especially in light of the fact that in March of last year the car was returned to the Kalpoes, the car we know that Natalee was in. Are you telling me that that analysis of the Kalpoe car was done by basically, amateurs, people who don't know how to investigate a scene; whether there's any sign of bodily injury in a car?

Tacopina:

That's right, my understanding is they didn't use any of the forensic tools available. They did a search: they looked for hairs for obvious things that are visible to the naked eye. My understanding is they never luminoled that car, they never did the things that would uncover trace evidence that's not detectable by the naked eye.

What you're seeing now with this Dutch team is a different level of forensic analysis. it's my understanding that these techniques were never employed and quite frankly I don't even know whether they were available.

Greta:

If that indeed is true, let me re-use a word I used moments ago: that is really stupid and I'll add that it's completely unjust and unfair to everybody involved.

Doing a forensic examination of a car is not that sophisticated in this day and age.

Tacopina:

Greta, the search of Paul's house early on was done by police officers who went there looking for things like clothes and shoes. They never went in with a forensic team like this. By the way, we're two years down the road now so I don't know what sort of value they expect to find but hopefully they get their answers, they satisfy themselves and hopefully the people I spoke to in Aruba are right in the suspicion that this may be the beginning of the end.

Greta:

I think they need to go to everybody's house as well as talk to a bunch of people on the beach that they never bothered to talk to including some who may have had connection with others on the island. Joe thank you.

What are the Dutch investigators looking for. Let's bring in former LAPD homicide detective Mark Fuhrman. Mark your hair must be standing on end in the fact they had a limited warrant after she disappeared and 2 years later now they're going around the yard and apparently now wanting to do a more thorough job.

Fuhrman:

Of course it drives me crazy, certainly with the evidence they had that we just knew almost 2 years ago, it seemed to be enough to get a search warrant for the complete premises but we have to look at this too: Paul could have said of course you can search everything, I have nothing to hide, my son is innocent, I'm innocent and we welcome you to do this.

Greta:

Maybe they didn't bother to ask them

Fuhrman:

Perhaps he should have offered but, let's look at the other side of the coin here. The Netherlands sent this group of detectives, forensic scientists and they're actually trying to do the job that should have been done then. We also have to consider that they could have gotten new information that went just a little bit further than probably cause, information that might lead them to start looking for what I assume is decomposing human matter, a decomposing corpse.

Nope, not for passports.  I got mine decades ago--no fingerprinting.  Kids got theirs in the past 5 years and no prints.

However, every kid in our preschool was fingerprinted and the prints given to parents to keep for safekeeping as an identification tool in case of kidnapping or anything worse.  I still have them and son is 26 now.

Oh, boy...so do I..just don't ask me where everything is right now...then, I'd be in real trouble.

Our state had a campaign when my child was in 1st or 2nd grade. They took her pic & fingerprint & put it on a plastic card with her DOB, hair & eye color  & even noted her birthmark. I still have the card.

No, no fingerprints for passports.  I was just trying to think back, since it's been a number of years.  I remember when my first son was just a little boy, there was a program that was available, where you put your childs hand prints on a card to keep in case they were missing at some time.  There is a new thing out now, where you even clip a piece of your childs hair and keep it in an envelope (DNA) so you have it available...

I would certainly think so, if the floor boards in the car were checked. I know this is gruesome, and I don't want to be tactless, but I imagine the quantity of bllod would be a determing factor. There would have had to be enough blood to saturate the carpet and seep through.......sorry.

If Antonio Carlo was hiding evidence, this is BIG. Not that I believe what that person posted necessarily, but it points to how large a circle of people are involved with this little scheme.

I think that if Joran were on the run, that would be BIG news in our media and they would be able to substantiate if that were true or not.

I didn't have to be finger printed for my passport 2 years ago nor on my FLA drivers license.

I'm sure finding Natalee's finger prints were easy to come by. In her hotel room, brush, toothbrush, cell phone, camera, lugage ect...if not there, I'm sure Beth would of allowed the FBI to take prints from Natalee's room.

I think they did that search for a reason.  I don't think they could search without a warrant and there would need to be reasons besides just a review of the evidence previously obtained.

Lala's - I agree with you.  And I think it was something substantial, not just a show.  They have new information.  Perhaps a witness who can place Natalee there.  I doubt very seriously they went to a judge and the judge allowed them the search just for the heck of it.  There is alot of investigators on this.  

All it takes is just a little something - just a small bit of evidence found at the home, after they claim she was never there.

The point about the search warrant is significant too. That is true that they cannot get a warrant without cause, and obviously the Dutch system must make that process somewhat arduous.

They appear to have gotten expedited service from somewhere, for some compelling reason.

I agree.  There are lawyers who specialize in services that are not normally advertised--like passports for people who can't get legal passports, and offshore accounts used to funnel large amounts of money.  Carlo and PVDS may provide these services.  PVDS has a history of gathering information that may or may not come in handy in the future, doesn't he?

I'm not sure if he was.  It was reported by MF then MF said Paulus just spoke to investigators for a while at his home.

And, you know we heard promises of another DeVries show, a kind of follow-up, but it has not happened.  I wonder if the Dutch investigation found enough to ask DeVries to hold off and not film a follow-up show quite yet.

I'm now 100% sure that the VDS home is the Crime scene. First Beth said so and now Taco denies it.. it must be the scene. That is why the KLPD is there. The are at the real location.

Regardless of how this turns out, Beth and Dave have a boatload of evidence to file a civil suit against ALE and the entire justice system of Aruba. JMHO, and it counts for all the ink it took to type this which is zero to nil.  I think the Kalpoe case against Dr. Phil and Skeeters, in order to go forward, has probably been based on their turning evidence on Joran to clear themselves in order to clear the way for the discovery, etc., in order for Beth to sue them and how could they prove they were not libel, only by turning evidence on Joran, and perhaps they were not only there when Paulus buried Natalee, but they may have been called on to assist in the burial, which in and of itself, would not be murder, but perhaps it could be considered coercion under threat of loss of residency on Aruba or worse yet, cocercion under threat of limb, loss of life, etc.  It could be that in order to clear themselves as suspects, they might have to prove they are not guilty and the way to prove this is to tell all they know.  They might not be as dumb as we have considered them all along.

Bleached - he posted that and came back later and denied it.  He also posted that they would be picking up Joran too.

Well, on an island the size of Aruba, it wouldn't be hard to keep track of where someone was.  I doubt they need to actually lock him up to have him in "custody."  More likely they told him to get off the premises of the VDS compound and to come back at 6 PM.  He knows he can't hide.

I think soo..It was something that had to be looked at. Devries mentioned the ALE thinks something happened at that garden. KLPD knows that and sees it in the files. They requestioned witnesses yesterday which most likely prompted todays search.

DeVries spoke with witnesses to draw the conclusions he did. I'd bet that those witness statements are behind this search.

I read they were looking for Joran.....I would not be suprised if they took Paulus "downtown" while they searched, unlike the first search where he was allowed to voice his opinion about what they could and could not search. Thanks Klaas.

I think my boys had to be finger-printed when they were in high school before they traveled abroad.  I seem to recall Natalee had been to Europe and perhaps this was, if she was, fingerprinted ,the time it was done.

Hello to all you good people. I love every one of you for standing up for Natalee and our family. If you remember awhile back I ask every one of you to pray for the next layer to be removed, to uncover what happen, and who are involved. We have to be in God’s timing for this to happen and have faith that God is working for justice to happen. Well, this team from Holland could be that break. I ask you to press in close to God and pray for the team of investigators to do the best job they can and be honest, truthful, and for people to come forward that has information, and for the evil spirits and anyone else that are fighting again this to be bound up and exposed in the light of truth and justice, that doors will be open to the investigators and real meaningful facts come forward.

I take that back..Its obvious they had this planned at least a week ago. I am sure they are sending hollands best to search that residence.

The Kalpoes have been pressure cooked for about two years now.  For the first year and a half, the Sloots and KJ and the rest of the smarmy team had their hands on their throats.  However, in the last six months, the power has shifted in Aruba.  KJ is gone and the files went to Holland to be thoroughly inspected.  Maybe the Kalpoes now realize that it is now safer to talk, and they have told what they know.  I hope so.

I was 100% certain from the first two weeks.

The suspects had Natalee all over the island that night.  The one place they made sure not to say where they went was the VDS home.  They are protecting Paulus because he was home when Natalee was there.

The entire corrupt cover-up and inept actions of ALE has given Tacky the opportunity to also use it in Joran's defense. That's a strategy that was adopted only after Tacky came on the scene. It was then late enough, with enough gone "under the bridge" to allow it. Both sides, at this point, are in agreement that ALE mishandled the case. THAT point should be the rallying point for boycott, even for those who hate Beth and support Joran.

Tyler, Deepak is smarter than Joran.  He made the mistake of talking to Skeeters but ever since then he has shut up.  Joran keeps yapping and yapping and didn't listen to one thing he was told.

I agree Tyler, although I can't figure why they didn't do it before this. If they had the beans to spill, I would think they would have wanted to so do some time before NOW, and spare themselves the trouble they have been going through. Unless they're AFRAID of someone.

Suppose you as a prominent attorney,  tell me and I am not aware of the laws and how they work because I am essentially a foreigner in your land, that if I tell anything I can go to prison and suffer the same consequences as the one who "pulled the trigger" (sotaspeak) and then later over time, I realize that you were not only wrong, but you were telling me this in order to hold my misconduct (whatever that may involve, maybe selling drugs or maybe living illegally in Aruba, or maybe I am running a scam computer business that involves porno) so I believe that whatever you tell me is the gospel and then later I see you have been scamming me to cover your own a** and that of your corrupt spawn of satan.  Then I see there is not only an opportunity for me to clear my name, but for me to gain monetarily in the long haul as in selling my story to the media after the big gallon-jughead has been found guilty.

Whether it's K2 or someone else, we have to ask ourselves what is DIFFERENT now... there had to be some kind of fundamental sea change in the situation that caused the "witness" to come forward. What could it be?

When Greta interviewed Joran, Joran looked dead into the camera and said something like..."I want my father to know I am here for him", or something like that.  

I just struck me odd Joran to say that and suddenly look dead serious into the camera when he said it.  Made me think Joran wanted his father know he was covering for him and not to worry, he has his back.

I think it's probable that the investigators were assigned to this now because of the timeframe for making a decision to close the case or not. I think that DeVries conclusions caused them to examine his sources and conclusions, take a look at his unanswered questions and criticisms, and they decided to "officially" look into his issues and points.

It may turn something up. I WANT to believe that JQK has pushed for this to happen, and has consistently kept the DeVries investigation in front of them.

I agree San, but that mess at the rock area was hard to get past.

Taco shell is trying to indicate the Kalpoes by saying the car was never searched forensically.  I think it is the Kalpoes who turned  evidence on the sporter and his ugly father, and Taco knows it, so he is trying to put it back on the Kalpoes that their car was never searched.  There's a method to this madman's madness.

Well, she can turn her back on Joran as fast as she turned her back on Beth.   This is a woman of many faces and many lies.  I have watched her from the get-go and I have never liked her except I had some hope that she was befriending Beth only to find later on that she stabbed Beth in the  back.  I had a feeling that Dave and his family were not as fooled by the charlatan as Beth was but Beth was desperate for help.  I think perhaps Dave, et al, may have had her figured out from the get-go.

OMG!  I just got back from out of town for a week, with no access to a computer.  I can't believe this wonderful news!  Now I have to go back and do alot of catching up!

Tyler, I think Beth was "with" Greta for the same reason we all tuned in tonight. She's more apt to cover the story than almost any other reporter, and you are right: Beth wanted the story out there, above all. It was her only hope to keep this story alive and in front of the public.

I'm sure she was grateful to Greta for helping her do that. Greta did do that whether she was always accurate or fair, she flat out devoted time to the story.

Let's see...Joran said he did not have sex with Natalee because he didn't have a condom. Didn't just state in his book that he had sex with Natalee for about 3 hours on the beach?  That is a complete about face, don't you think?

Oh and what about that timeline...he told Greta he came home between 3:25 AM and 3;35 AM.  If he was on the beach for 3 hours and they didn't leave CnC until...well you can do the math.  I may not be the smartest monkey here but I can add 2+2 and it still equals 4.  

I am sure I could find other things that Greta doesn't want to talk about that Joran told her was the gospel truth and if necessary I will...but you get the idea.

There's no telling WHAT they're going to find.  There could be other corpses buried there for all we know.  But I don't think the investigators
are too concerned about the holiday.  They are away from home and
probably want to get their work done and return to their families.  They
will more than likely work tomorrow and through the weekend.   Atleast
that's what I would expect, if they are really serious.

Joey says Natalee was never there.  He knows this because his client, who calls himself a pathological liar (oops!  Joran told the truth at least this once!)  told him so.   :?  
Ted and Bernie and Greta say it's too late because they've never heard of a cold case being solved.   :?
Greta and Bernie think maybe the Dutch should be looking at other suspects because they're either stupid or Joey is threatening them.  
Greta seems to feel she could run this investigation better than the Dutch investigators.  (I could run the investigation better than ALE just by reading a few Harry Bosch novels, but let's not insult the Dutch until we have probable cause.)  
Jossy was good.  Factual.  
The viewer that sent in an e-mail telling us what the poles were for was good.  
Fuhrman was pretty good.  
I thought the poles were to better enable the dogs to smell something, but what do I know.  It made sense to me.  
I'm one of the few who didn't condemn Greta regularly for her stupid statement after the Joran Interview Ratings Bonanza.  (JIRB for short)  I'm now in total agreement with those who did.   :roll:
