Update from Miami Travel Show from Grass..I assume Vicki will send Klaas pics later when she gets back...

Today the 28 April 2005, I arrived at 845am, left 430pm. A very long day in the sun. The signs and banners were beautiful. the banner on my van when you came off expressway, that was the first thing you see, then as you turn corner you would see the sherton marquee and under that was another banner, all entrances had signs, there were three, only one was the main one. A lot of traffic, back up from valet parking, but hotel blamed us. They called police, they came and told us we were not allowed near entrance but signs could stay. If an accident happen we would be responsible, if they had to come back we would be ask to leave. I will be back in the morning until around 300pm, then long 5+ hour drive back, have no choice I must be there for job Monday first thing, they would not let me changed until Tusday.

Well, I was just on the last thread trying to figure out what the heck Patti was talking about.  

IMHO there is not a whole conscience in that entire list of character witnesses!

Personally, I will be far from thrilled with a Crown Witness deal as that grants total immunity to the person turning on the others.  In the case of the Kalpoes, only one CW needed so one brother would have to give evidence against the other.  Not gonna happen, sorry, Robots, unless they can work it so both of them are granted immunity.

I just don't believe they are both innocent and should be granted immunity.  I just really hate to see that done for anybody who harmed Natalee or participated in her disappearance in any way.  We know they did for they were in that car right along with Joran and so share responsibility for her disappearance.

Today there are three people there, with more likely tomorrow.  But the organizer doesn't have a digital camera, and is not staying in a hotel with computer access.  And 'Grass' apparently is in a hotel without it.  So unless something happens, it's probably unlikely that photos will be forthcoming before, say, early next week.  
 
The coordinator said that interest was strong, and that lots of people driving by are stopping to pick up the handouts.  Apparently they have some really big signs up, and one of them is attached to the marquee of the Sheraton!   (Don't ask me how they pulled that off.)
 
I don't want to tell their story from them, but things seem to be going very well.  And as with us in Boston, they got some dirty looks from people whom they presumed to be Aruban.

We all bring our life experiences to this.  I am very sorry you do not appreciate my opinion but I am still entitled to it.

No, I will not be a Happy Camper to see either Kalpoe walk away Scott free for turning Crown Witness.  That is just no right in my way of thinking.  Sure if a person played a very minor role in this, a deal would be acceptable but not one of the main players.  That just isn't justice to me.

I don't think the Kalpoes would talk right now with the Dr. Phil suit so close to some action being taken.

I know you see all but you might want to take another look as I think this far more likely if there is even a CW to be a fringe pimp and the farther from the inner circle, the less reliable the information is going to be.

No Judge is going to grant a extensive two day search warrant of a home and grounds on the basis of an "anonomous deposition" . This is especially true in Aruba where favors for the ruling class are expected and granted freely. There is more to this story: I suspect someone deep in the investigation from the beginning has been "turned". This isn't for show, the Dutch team have someone that knows pieces of the puzzle. This witness told them NH was at some point at the Sloot home. We shouldnt forget Dompig suggested she had been there and had been likely moved. IMO.

Twenty-five technicians working 16 hours in two days could have solved this case two years ago. But the Judge of Instruction amended the search warrant at the home and denied access to all but Joran's apt and a few household items. I wonder what the "wonder team" from NL have planned next. We should assume this secret witness must have known alot more to get this search warrant.

Well stated, Spock.  I concur.  One computer which they took that was allegedly already returned but a flash drive style copy of the hard drive was likely made.  

They have to be acting on some sort of credible information obtained from somewhere.  

It is a real pity this search was not done two years ago as it should have been.

Paulus has had a lot of time to make sure nothing is found.  But then he is so arrogant, I also have to think he was sure no search would ever actually be done.  His bad!  Hope it was just bad enough.

They did appear to be carrying out quite a bit of stuff in bags and totes.  Even if human remains are found, these people are not going to announce that at this point.  They are going to take the remains to be tested, inform the relatives, and follow other rules of protocol.  This is not the Aruban LE, but a professional group of investigators.

Nice, now we have defender of Scott Peterson, Geragos is defending Taco?  Lord, the attornies make me ill.  They are such liers!!!!

Tacky is saying they shouldn't be focused on Joran after two years.  They should look at others.  He says initial search was limited and they should have done a more complete search then.  They want to close the case and are doing this search to wrap it up.  Once the search is done and there is no evidence of Natalee there, they will wrap it up.

Baloney, Tacky!

Mark Fuhrman says the limited search was silly.  If van der Sloot is so innocent, Paulus should have given permission.  Tacky says Paul didn't stop them--they never asked.  TAcky getting upset.  Jeanine Piro saying they should have searched two years ago.  Dr. Baden says they are looking for evidence they should have looked for two years ago.  Baden says JVDS had scratches on face and Tacky is stopping him and saying that was made up.  Tacky is so quick to spin.  Even Geraldo calls it spin.  Geragos then says why are they piling on Joran now after two years.  They don't have anything on this guy.  Furhman says police don't look for clues just to accuse, but sometimes to find someone not guilty.  

This went to fast I couldn't get it all.  But Dr. Baden did challenge Tacky and he jumped so fast to discount his comments that I thought he'd come out of the screen!

Joe Tacopina said it is more of the same.   Geraldo called Joe "Pal" and Joe called Gerald "Buddy".

He is still saying Natalee was never at the house.

The initial search was limited in scope.  He said they think they are doing this because you cannot close this case without doing an inital search.

Mark Fuhrman the limited search that was allowed there was silly.  Joe is arguing with Mark Fuhrman.

Jeanine Pirro said why do we wait until two years and then said oh go ahead and search.

Michael Baden said the two black guys were searched from head to toe.  He said scratches were on his face.  Joe is aruging with Dr. Baden.  He said Joran went to class at 8:10 the next morning.

Mark Geragos said it is an exercise in fruitility.

The panel is pointing out the facts and Geragross and Taco act like nobody's testimony (scratches in school that morning on Joran) never happened, He aced his test!, like that means he didn't kill her.  They really act like they were there and know exactly what happened.  They are ignoring every fact that HAS been brought out in the case.

Paulus looked way too confident for a body to be found  :? I think they are doing soil samples and forensic testing that were never done. They took diaries..the computer and some other things that could prove to be explosive. These are some very cocky and arrogant people..I wouldnt be surprised if someone made a sick joke about Natalee that will be damaging for the sloots. Also valuable info who they are talking to.

I can't help but keep thinking about a case here in AZ that was recently solved.  A young woman from California disappeared.  Her body was found in AZ in the desert and they traced clues back to the killer.  I don't remember all the details, but what struck me was that they did forensic testing and luminol testing at a storage facility and found her blood in the corner of the storage area two years after the young woman was killed.  The killer was convicted just recently in her death.

Good news, well sorta.  At least they solved it, so we know it can be done.  I pray the NE investigators are as good.  I wish so bad, they would let the FBI help.

Yes, I thought Joe T was going to start screaming at Dr Baden and I also think Geraldo ran him up against a hard commercial break so that whatever he was saying would be cut off.  We all know what Geraldo really thinks about Joran no matter how objective he is trying to be to host a program.

Also, Dr Baden said ALE knew what to do to conduct a search because they had already done it to the security guard.  He further stated Joran was running around the next day with scratches on his face. etc.  Made ALE look like the corrupt LE that they are.

He made every word count.  Baden did not used to take sides like this but in this case, I think he is happy to make an exception.

Hi Yapperz! Yeah, Joe is jaded and tilted!

I'm not finding the video yet but I'm sure it will be available by tomorrow.  It was a platic bin about 2x2x4 (maybe 2x2x3), white/grey in color and there was a folded up tarp or something on top.  You couldn't see through the bin to see what was inside.  It appeared to be fairly heavy.

Same old stuff, mostly making fun of us.

There are no anonymous depositions. You have to state your name for the record and establish your identity. You also are bound to state the true under oath under penalties of purjury. What the prosecutor has is a credible witness placing NH at the Sloot home and stating she ran into trouble there. The only thing anonymous about the witness is the decision the prosecutor made not to release the person's identity. You can't get a search warrant based on a tip, you have to have probable cause such as physical evidence in hand or a signed deposition from a credible witness. Many times a signed statement is not enough without corrobarating physical evidence. IMO

The Dutch have a credible witness who knows a great deal, otherwise this search could never have happened. More to come.

Alibi version 1.0 has Joran riding the bus as usual, acing tests, etc.  That was the original plan but when Joran went to school and said the girl (remember he doesn't know her name) hit her head, etc. then it became better for Paulus if he was never even there so that he couldn't possibly have said all that stupid stuff he did.

By Tuesday, Alibi Version 2.0 known as frame the security guards was in place because Beth had arrived and that changed everything.

So Paulus decides that Joran had better not have even been there Monday but forgets he spoke to headmaster.  By Tuesday, he is telling headmaster that the tape broke is why it doesn't show Joran dropping Natalee off at the HI.

But once something starts like Version 1.0, they are never able to round up everybody and move them on to the next version of events and some continue to tell the first version.  Can't go back and tell them to change it.  All Paulus can do is change his own version and hope the others catch on well enough to play along.

This is just what I think and I realize others don't share this scenario of that first day and I don't think we all need to walk in lock step on this.  It is far better to keep open all options and possibilities.

Yes, SB, I caught that about the FBI being advised to tell the family. IMO, this is one of the reassuring things about this Dutch team -  follow procedure, do it the right way. As a courtesy in the circumstances, the family deserved a heads up; I imagine the appropriate way to do that was for the Dutch team to notify to FBI to notify family. The operative word is courtesy and of course that's been noticably lacking heretofore.

As for TES - Red - I wish you could tell us from what direction this is coming. Have the Dutch, or any official entity on Aruba, requested this, or is it possibly going to be another Unwelcome mat? Also, land or sea? Both?

Tyler - I'm not Peaches, but Manor is Waycross, GA Fire Dept.; Dasher is Valdosta, GA FD. Cursory search indicates that they might be getting smoke but no flames. (The fires are pretty much contained but it's the smoke that is causing many to have to evacuate.) It's an Okefenokee "large incident fire" that's good for the swamp as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

Maybe that gives you enough to go on if you want to check into it. For that part of the state, Jacksonville, FL media might be the best bet, in fact I think JAX is having smoke issues too.

These news shows drive me crazy.  It's obscene how these "experts" comment but don't know the finer details.  That's what allows the screamers like TacoJoe Blowhard to shout down the Mark Furmans.

Indy, I think she was assaulted and killed at the VDSloot's home.  Her body was kept there for a while until they figured out how to get rid of her.  Was Joran meeting someone that night to arrange a boat trip and drop?  The drug boats go back and forth to Argentina/Columbia on a regular basis.  The ATM money transactions--were they to pay for a boat trip?

the only reason that I don't believe the ocean is because that would take time, and a boat - someone besides the principals would know.

while I don't believe a word anyone there says, I think J would've been smart to keep this as quiet as he could.

And yet, PVDS has contacts with all sorts of unsavory types--even the types who make the regular drug runs from South America to Aruba and back again.  I don't doubt that one bit.  When Paulus says "no body, no case" he was very sure the body was not on Aruba.  However, he's also not willing to allow anyone to search his home.  He knows trace evidence, blood spatters, DNA can be detected even years later.  There may not be a body there, but there is evidence of a murder there.

From the Murder & Crime thread, page 3 - Arm bone found on coastline of Venezuela. There is a picture. This is one of klaas' crowning achievements.



Two really important things about this bone (altlhough apparently dismissed by all) -

That Hurricane season was THE big one and no "normal" tides and currents could be counted on.

Despite what Dave says, the bone looked quite human ...

But Rob, I don't think you have its location correctly positioned. IIRC, it was just inside that bay-looking area just inside Venez.

I strongly feel she lost her life at the VanDerSloot home. I think the 3 pervs took her there directly from CnCs to film the rape of an innocent American tourist girl.  Natalee died from the drug concoction given her at CnCs.
That's where the panic set in and that's why there are so many different versions of what happened.

I keep going back to Dompig.  Dompig--caught in the middle between the truth and what he saw and the authorities in charge at the time.  Could Dompig be the Crown Witness?  He was relieved of his job after making so many puzzling and contradictory statements.  At times, he seemed to tell the truth and want to solve the case.  Other times, his statements were baffling when taken in context, but perhaps he was under orders to say particular things at specific times.  If he was offered protection, would Gerold Dompig spill his guts?  A witness needs to be credible, reliable, and believable.  Is he?

He'll just find another one, Angie. I think he has a secret stash of them.  :lol:

MsMarple, I have a friend that is a Doctor of Exercise Physiology and I have a picture of the arm bones, I will ask him what he thinks. He is a Doctor / Professor at a major University and he'll know right away what it is. I think it is either a human arm or the arm of something like a Gibbon.

 Maybe he was lurking the other night when some of us were talking about him.. and Scandi Nor .  Etc..  ROFL

I always thougth Dompig knew what was up - at first he tried to play the serious investigator looking for serious answers.
Then he saw the writing on the wall and tried to spin what he knew into something palatable that would satisfy everyone.
Finally out of frustration, he retired --- but Dompig holds some answers, he knows what went down that nite.

Yes, this is the scenario that seems most logical.  The Dutch must believe this too.  They are looking for evidence to retrace the events of that night.  Thus, they start at the VDS home.

:lol: :lol:  Me with exact coordinates? klaas may have something though. I don't think we had coordinates but I think there was a map and the name of the town/beach identified. We may have had more information than what's on the M&C thread, but I suspect it was lost in one of the crashes.


klaas actually contacted a Venezuela newspaper, with an email translated via online translator into Spanish, to get the actual photo.

I don't think that will work this time. He's already in the bed.

Well, for one thing, the Venezuela newspaper article stated (headlined, I think) that a "human arm bone" had been found ... it was sent to a coroner in Caracas (?). Unfortunately a major plane crash then happened in Venezuela, and I think Jossy later said it was not human after all. (I may not be correct on this.)

I mean Venezuela, not Argentina.  Darn--there I go again, mixing up my South American countries.   :lol:
