The Committee was also concerned at the number of reports of assaults committed by Aruban law enforcement officials and that, as reported by the State party, of the 49 cases lodged at the Internal Investigations Bureau between 2005 and 2007, only 2 had been dealt with in court, and those had not led to a conviction due to insufficient evidence. The Netherlands should take all appropriate measures to send a clear and unambiguous message to the Police Force and to prison staff that torture, violence and ill-treatment were unacceptable.

We lived across the street aways down from the pool and I LIVED there.  We could smell and hear it all day.  I miss that too!  Along with riding my bike, playing hide and seek after dark and many other games.  No cable t.v., no computer, we used our iminagtions!  Something this generation doesn't know about!

I also contend that it is a tatical move that will prevent the family from revealing all that they know without being accused of jeopardizing the investigation ... a tactical move that will prevent the family from accesses the case files and ... will prevent the "powers that be" in the United States from investigating the corrupt Aruban investigation that has denied justice to one of Her citizens.

Aruba underestimates the voice and the determination of one amazing mother and ... the comprehension of a loving father who recognizes the power of the media.

This is what tugs at your heart and keeps you praying for resolution.  These are real people.  These are caring, loving, genuine people who lost one of the jewels in their collection, their beautiful Natalee, a diamond among jewels.

I think it is incumbent upon us to let the networks know that Aruba has forbidden Beth to return and that their bias and prejudice against Americans and the weakest among us Americans is what has hamstringed them, because no one wants to go to an island where their children could be murdered, and then they are not allowed to go there to find them without fear of losing their own life in addition, or being jailed for just wanting justice.  This island is nothing but a wing of communist thought.

On the previous page there were some comments about keeping the case open and denying Beth and Dave the docs.

Well, Max DeVries has now been missing for three years and Yvonne has no paper work at all.

I have been speaking to Travis Makings, the son of Gary Makings and he is heart broken about his dad. He wants answers and there are none from Aruba.. he doesn't seem to have any paper work either.

Just because a case is closed does not mean anyone is getting any paper work from Aruba. It might be a law, or a statue, but when was the last time they followed the law?

This will go on for years to come in my humble opinion.

Not me.. I expected nothing and would have been thrilled if anything would have or does happen.

The forensics are completed and there is prolly not anything. JMO...

When I hear Aruba is doing something in the regards to this case my immediate thought is why.  Why are they doing this.  There is always a reason behind their madness and it is definitely not to solve this case because this case was solved back in June 2005.

Now when I hear that our government is going to do something in this case that's when I will believe them.

The investigation has been handed back to the Arubans, the Dutch have left a few people to assist but they no longer are in charge. Basically, the Dutch are done and are telling the Arubans to handle their own affairs.

Hi Monkeys :)   It's overcast and has rained off and on all day long.  Think it will be a wet weekend.  I'm staying around this weekend, so it isn't much of a problem for me.  I hope there are some other monkeys stickin' around or takin' their lappy so it doesn't get too lonely here in the cage.

The new thing is that the Arubans are now contolling the investigation and the Dutch have left 2-3 people to assist with that case and a few others. The Dutch are done.

Please send rain in my direction. We are over 12 inches below normal so far this year, and everything is soooooo dry!  :(

If you guys have read the Natalee's Freebird docs...its clear the Dutch are in this up to their eyeballs. What are they gonna do, blow the whistle on themselves?

I would suspect that any additional forensic evidence they may have found probably had to be quickly removed from the island to a safer more secure place (especially in light of the Break-in attempt by those two women)...

On the local news tonight, they were discussing the case of the missing 911 operator. The FBI was at her husband's house today doing forensic work. They completely covered the garage with black plastic and refused to comment to local newscasters about what they were doing in there.

Well, I don't have any daughters to like this person but if I had daughters, they would not want any part of this person, for obvious reasons, they would want more out of life than a nut job.

Monkeys I want you to remember a very important point when it comes to the investigation and searches is Aruba.

Nobody, not CNN, ABC, or FOX was reporting that there were a large number of Dutch investigators in Aruba. No one reported in advance that they were going to search the VDS residence. Not Jossy and certainly not JR was privy to the info.

So if the Dutch had  kept everything so close to the vest, then why would any of you think that they are talking now to the media about anything of any relevance?

Do not believe what the media has to say when it comes to this case. Those at CNN barely cover the case. Half the time the producers get it wrong. The pundits don't have a clue as to what they are talking about and the hosts are just reading a TelePrompter.

I have been on a rant myself this morning - our Government spent over half a million dollars of our tax payers money to fly back to Australia by chartered Gulfstream jet that David Hicks who was charged with material support for terrorism and has been in Gitmo for several years.  He has been brought back here to finish his sentence and will be released by the end of this year.  WTH did they not leave him in Gitmo until then and let him come back under his own steam, that is if we really want him back here anyway.  Better to let him go back to Afghanistan or wherever he found his calling.   Bah!

OldFart I cannot imagine what that amount of money was to cover - they reported he ate well and watched a movie on the flight (probably "Prison Break").  I suppose a lot of the cost was for the minders as there were a lot of others on the flight and he was not restrained at all during the flight, only getting on and off the aircraft.  As he is supposed to have declared he wanted to kill Jews and crash a plane into a building in Aust, that seemed like a foolish move to me.

We have to remember that NONE of the mainstream media has ever set any records for accuracy and detail in reporting this case, and that AP report is no exception. This report is a case of a writer with a deadline and a few scribbled facts and quotes, trying to make sense of what he has. It is NOT detailed and it is NOT a clear and accurate portrayal of the situation. It's like a Reader's Digest condensed version of a Tolstoy novel.

VDBiezen is not saying here that the Dutch have abandoned anything at all.

I don't expect a Dutch forensic team to stay on the island for any extended time. They don't do that.

We know that the suspect status for Joran has been continued indefinitely and that should say something. Now if strings get pulled from the Hague, it might be a different story. We can know if that happens. I suspect Tylergal will have that info for us, as well as a couple of others. At THAT point would be when I declare that the fix is in, but not YET.

I am not Red, but personally I think, and have thought for a long time, that they want to do NEITHER.

They want the case to remain in perpetual Never-Never Land and hope the media gradually moves away from it and Americans forget. They want to pick around with occasional searches and tests and the like, but NEVER a finalized result. They want a "no-decision". I don't think the Dutch want to hold on to Aruba at all.  They wanted to leave ten years ago but we asked them to stay as a stabilizing force in the region.

Aruba is a constant financial drain on the Dutch and under this latest government, refuses to even give an accounting of the money they took already and more they want to borrow using some loophole in their constitution to avoid telling.

And now this at the UN has to be embarrassing in front of their EU cronies.  It is the financial investments they have made along with those made by U.S. corps that are deemed the only things worth protecting like the refinery and the hotels.  The island itself and population are more of a headache and a liability than anything.

So who has more $ invested in Aruba, the Dutch or the U.S. corporations that have developed the resort areas and the refinery?

 :wink: Something to think about.  It is most likely those American corporations that would lose the most in a Chavez take over.  The Dutch likely have long since tired of the tax drain and crime imported to Holland via this outlet.

As far as i know *suspect status* gives ALE certain rights regarding investigative measures, surveillance, wiretaps...etc. They can be picked up and interrogated if *new* evidence is presented to a judge. KLPD was able to dig up the Sloot compound based on new evidence so if they really wanted to interrogate J2K i think they would be able to come up with something.

All suspects have access the case files. (yes/no)?

Does this mean JQK then has access to the same files (yes/no)?

Based upon Aruban Law's if JQK lets information in the case files (if he has them) become public knowledge can it hurt the case(yes/no)?

Does JQK know more than any of us know about his case(yes/no)?

Is there anything we can do to assist him in leagal matters(yes/no)?

If we knew more we might be able to make connections they have not..
But we can still attempt to put pressure on the average person in Aruba until they take a stand for accountablity (and start asking some of the questions we have asked) and demand answers from their govt.

If any efforts to boycott travel to ARUBA is not working...

I do not think they will be released from suspect status in order to prevent Beth & Dave from having access to the documents, nor do I believe they will ever be charged.  I think any justice will be 'karma' and I do know there is no such thing as karma, but "what goes around comes around," is the Lord allowing evil to come upon them for the sins they have committed.  The Lord does not bring harm or evil to anyone, He allows autonomy of the individual and he allows bad things to come upon those who have committed evil.  He gives them the freedom to choose between right and wrong.  There's a whole lot of "allowing the devil to be loosened for seven years" coming to Aruba.

Thanks so much Angie.  Funeral was today and daughter went.  She said it was awful!  The fiance was beside himself she said.  He wore her engagement ring on his pinkie finger.  Daughter also told me that they had a small dog that they bought together a couple of years ago who was their "baby".  The dog was with her when she had the wreck and did not survive either.  Just such a sad story all the way around.  We just have to wonder why God works the way he does!  I just think he needed another angel in heaven!  I've been calling my children 24/7 since this happened.  I am probably driving them crazy checking on them!
