Well that's just great...I found myself saying the same things I did last night as I jumped into the clean cage only to find it dirty again.  That was a very, very strange experience.   Now, everyone is heading off to bed.  I think I will go look for the moon.  BTW what is this score thing you guys are posting?

well i know from experience the choco ganache ones last several days  :lol: honestly the others have buttercream frosting which does have a limited shelf life, the sugar actually serves as a preservative for the butter when combined but ideally should be eaten within 24 hours?

buttercream freezes well though, so I'm researching and also going to do some testing. you're welcome to come for a cupcake visit, even the kitties said so !  :lol:

None, I think you should open a franchise of cupcake shops, like the Sprinkles ones.  I haven't been to a Sprinkles--we don't have them here--so you probably have lots of cities in which you could open your shops.  I love cupcakes!!  Especially the pretty ones with flowers on them.

YR it meant a lot to me to meet Beth, and Dave and Robin and Linda Allison and the others... it makes this thing seem more real than ever. It's not just a TV and Internet thing, it is REAL-LIFE and I saw the tears they cry still. I can't imagine how hard it's been there in MB among people who know them and the things that have transpired since that have been so hard.

Those cupcakes are beautiful. Here's an idea: You could prepare the cupcake tops separately from the cupcakes. Then you could mail your customers a cupcake kit -- they make the cupcake bottoms the day they intend to eat them, using the cupcake mix that you provide; when their own cupcakes are baked and cooled, they top them off with your beautiful decorator "lids." That way, you only have to worry about packaging the tops, and the customer gets fresh cake guaranteed.  :) (I did a lot of years in direct marketing. This would work better than trying to send cooked cupcakes around and keep them fresh.)

I think a lot of times we all get so attached emotionally to this case and take in on so very personally that any sort of comment that might be seen as negative burrs up our defenses.  I know lots of times I've gone to bed mad or even worried about messages I've posted that might be seen as ugly.
But I always wake up knowing we're all on the same team just wanting justice for Natalee.  
Anna will be back, she's in this for the long haul like all the rest of us.  I look forward to seeing her next avatar, makes my day.

Every now and then I end up driving by Natalee's house. The house hasn't changed but it is like driving by a house that burned. I, too, wonder what this has been like for Natalee's friends and for Beth and Jug's close friends.

We'll see I spose, he's certainly been around.  He is definately an offensive geared coach.  I suspect that was his downfall at IU.

klaas, you and CBB and so many others put me to shame with your graphics abilities. I use an OLD PSP version and a few rudimentary things and just manage to make things look OK, y'all come up with things I can't do.

Tibro, Indy, all you newer Monkeys, believe me, during the early days we had some rumbles in here that would make any of what happened last night look tame. We started with some people that proved to be not so friendly to the HT family (some are now on Refugees, and there's a story behind THAT) and there were others that overdid it w/ their agendas. I think Klaas and Red and Tom all did a great job of separating wheat from chaff at the times it was needed. The early crashes we had, afforded them the chance to PURGE (and that IS the BEST word to describe it) the Cage of troublemakers, and we now are in here with a (generally) harmonious and single-minded group. The people who are here have been through a vetting process and that has helped a LOT. The dark side tried to send its minions in here and that was part of what caused the steps to have to be taken. Had that not been done this could have dissolved into a free-for-all like the refuseniks and fob. Instead we have carried this case along!

I think about Natalee's younger brother. His world got blown apart, too, and then he essentially lost his mother and father and stepfather to the ensuing turmoil. That's a lot for a kid to handle.

That is what so many people do not realise - this whole case impacted on so many people.  Beth and Dave and their families, of course.  But also anyone else who had had any contact with Natalee and then the hundreds worldwide who have felt drawn to her even though they have never met her.

Beth is the one person I would give anything to meet.  She is an awesome lady.

It's incredible to me that there are at least a dozen connected people who know first hand that the VanDerSloots are directly responsible for the kidnapping and murder and an American tourist girl yet NO ONE has the least bit of moralitly to step up and tell what happened.
An entire police force knows whose responsible for what happened to Natalee, yet NO ONE will step up.  What is the terrible bond that holds these criminals together?

I have never heard Beth, Dave, Robin, any of them, say one ugly or cutting or disparaging thing in a PERSONAL attack toward anyone. They point out the foolishness, but they don't get dirty about it. Even people like renfro who they have every reason to say the ugliest things about. I think they have done a terrific job in the PR aspect of handling this nightmare.

I am more than willing to let 'em have Carte Blanche to say or think whatever they want to in private though, you can believe that! If ONLY we could be a fly on the wall and hear what they must have to be saying... LOL!

Arubagirl was a LONG way from being the worst. She actually assisted Red a lot when he made the trip down there. It was only after the case got to the point of talking boycotts and the tourism #'s fell, that she made a turn. She is somewhat disgusted with Americans in general and it's not as much against Natalee or her family or any of us. I think she probably thinks JK2 are guilty and PVDS too.

After feeling so low about Natlee the last few days with the two year mark
I was at work tonight , I manage a small neighborhood movie theatre
I was palying a kid movie< A frantic mother came screaming up to the box office wanting to know if I had seen 3 kids ages 5,8 & 10 and she described them.. I hadnt but took her number.. my head was spinning the whole night and more ppl came by looking for the kids they had been missing 5 hours by now.. They just called search and rescue and me and my daughter planned to join the search after work.. By 9 I was frantic myself just as i was finishing work a searcher came and told me the kids had been found QUITE far from there home ( dont know detail of how they got that far) I was gasping the tears by then..  I am so relieved they were found I think that would have sent me over edge had they not been found safe...  Sorry need to vent I know you guys would understand

A gay gang that allegedly raped victims lured on the Internet, drugged them and infected them with the AIDS virus has shocked the Netherlands and raised questions over its liberal sex culture.
Health Minister Ab Klink on Thursday called the case "horrible", as the press splashed the news across its front pages.

The matter came to light Wednesday, when police said they had arrested three seropositive homosexual men two weeks ago after four victims, men aged 25 to 50, accused them of rape and premeditated bodily harm.

Ronald Zwarter, the police chief in the northern town of Groningen, where the alleged crimes took place, said two of those arrested, a couple aged 48 and 33, had confessed.

"Their stated motive was that it excited them -- and also that, the more HIV-infected people there were, the better their chances of unprotected sex," he said.

"They considered unprotected relations to be 'pure'."

A fourth man who allegedly supplied the three suspects with several litres of the date-rape drug GHB and ecstasy tablets was also arrested.

The gang risks up to 16 years in prison.

According to police and prosecutors, eight more victims have come forward since the case was publicised.

Officials said the three seropositive men invited gays contacted on the Internet to private homosexual orgies.

When the victims turned up, they were allegedly given ecstasy and GBH (which is undetectable when mixed in drinks), leaving them helpless and, in some cases, with no memory of what happened.

The three suspects -- one of whom is a male nurse -- were said to have raped the men, and even injected some of them with a mix of their contaminated blood.

The case has deeply unsettled the Netherlands, and caused it to cast a hard look at its easygoing views on sex, with some figures suggesting that frequent homosexual orgies posed a public health risk.

"That homos organise orgies is nothing new, but this is something else. This is unimaginable," said Frank van Dalen, the president of a gay rights group called COC.

He stressed that the illegal use of GHB (gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid) -- known on the street by such nicknames as "Easy Lay, "Gay Home Boy" and "Liquid Ecstasy" -- also posed a danger in heterosexual circles.

Said Henk Krol, the editor of a homosexual magazine titled Gaykrant: "These people were drugged, it's therefore rape, pure and simple. It's shameful, disgusting and terrifying. Those who did this are crazy."

Health officials pointed to a recent rise in the number of HIV infections in Groningen -- from 14 in 2005 to 25 last year, out of the town's total population of 185,000 -- as significant.

"This doesn't mean that the rise is entirely explained by the orgies... but it's probable that part of the rise has been caused by them," Marco Ter Harmsel, of Grongingen's municipal health service, told the Dutch newspaper DRC.

Ya know, back a couple of years ago, I emailed a little with Arubagirl, and I liked her. I found her to be honest, which is something I always admire in a person. She basically said what she felt, so it was easy to see where she stood on various subjects. I wish she still posted with us, but I can understand how she would feel very uncomfortable with people who support the boycott the way we do. She had to choose between SM and loyalty to her home, and she chose her home. In her shoes, I would probably have done the same thing.

Okey Dokey!  I will read through her blog when I have a little more time.

She might not always agree with our viewpoint on some things, but I enjoy reading it anyway.

I have a vague memory of her, but nothing really controversial stands out in my mind.

Arubagirl was definately a strong opinion'd person, and there's nothing wrong with that.  I had exchanged emails with her a while ago and found her to be pleasant to me.  I had asked to copy one of her flower pictures so I could make it into a stained glass piece,  she was thrilled.

I do know some outed her here a while ago,  I also know some believe her to be behind the "shango/simian" stuff. AND since I haven't had my first cup of coffee yet, I won't get into my own personal thoughts on that subject :wink:

Actually, she needed to make a choice to stand up for what was right or wrong.  She chose to stand for the side that is wrong - typical of all Arubans.

They all had and still have a chance to make a stand and press their gov to do the right thing but none of them have any back-bone.

Too bad - boycott the hell out of them.  I have no respect for the Arubagirl.

I was reading at the FOS site and I got the impression that JR had gone undercover to do volunteer work for the FBI.  Anyone else reading it that way?  Kind of reminded me of a guy in Portugal that volunteered to be a liaison between the Portuguese police and the media.  I don’t think that one worked out all that well.

What a soap opera much of this has become….

Good morning.  I try to read her blog from time to time.  She has posted some absolutely fabulous photos of flowers, etc. that she has taken.  Her photos are just outstanding.  So pretty.  I feel bad for her because I understand she loves her home.  I wouldn't stand idly by if y'all were bashing the Big Red.  It's just a shame there is so much nastiness going on down there.  It should be paradise for the people who live and work then but it isn't.  Sadder still is that it isnt' the fault of the natives.  The pall that has been cast over the island by this tragedy will not soon fade.

Panorama appears to be a magazine similar to the NE or Globe.  I found the website, www.panorama.nl and it shows something about Joran but you can't get to the article.

I joke all the time about being a redneck, but when people on TV make fun of southerners, it always makes me become defensive. I think it's human nature for anyone to feel that way about their home. While I know that there are a lot of uneducated people around me making meth out in the woods in rusty trailers, I will still defend the south because it's part of me.  :wink:

This is completely different than burying your head in the sand during an obvious cover-up or pressuring your gov to do the right thing.

No ones caling arubagirl names, just critisizing her for taking the side of the monsters.

The other day, a new co-worker and I were having a conversation - He is from South America, then to FL, then here to NC... He just happened to NC when a friend invited him up for a visit.  He told me that he never realized that the South would be so modern... It was always his perception that there would only be rural areas, no large cities(I know our cities don't compare to NY etc. ) and other modern things such as malls etc. would be few and far between.  

He wasn't being mean, it was just his perception.  He said when he came up for a visit, and saw how beautiful it was, saw that there were indeed industries, larger cities etc. and when he met the people here, he was sold.  He knew this is where he wanted to raise his children.  I took it as a big compliment.

lol  I tell ya, if I am at a fast food joint with a bunch of teens working behind the counter and let that thought creep into my thoughts, I can't eat.  That and other things about fast food bother me more and more.  I guess I will have to go robotic with my diet soon. lol

When people visit the south for any length of time they do not want to leave.  That is a problem! lol

I have a cousin who was born in Tennessee, but her family moved to California when she was very young. She married a man who had never traveled to the south, and we didn't meet him for years and years. When he finally did come for a visit, he was seriously amazed that we lived just like people anywhere else in the country. Police and volunteers are ready for a big search operation for the disappeared teenager in June of 2005.

ORANJESTAD – Yesterday was exactly two years ago that the 18-year old American student Natalee Holloway disappeared.  The criminal investigation is still going.  The main suspect in the case, Joran van der Sloot said in April that the case will probably be closed in May, because the usual duration of criminal cases is two years.  The OM indicated that the basic principle of criminal cases in First Instance is that the trial and verdict indeed take place within two years after the ‘reasonable term’ has started.  

That reasonable term starts the moment a suspect can reasonably assume that he will be prosecuted.    This is not laid down in a specific rule, but the beginning of the reasonable term can be when the suspect is taken into custody, or when an inquest is opened against the suspect.  

“Both possibilities occurred in this criminal case”, said the OM.   Van der Sloot was taken into custody on June 9th, 2006.  The investigation and the hearing against him would have basically been concluded on this date.  But according to the OM , there are circumstances that may prolong criminal cases with more than two years, ‘without being able to say that the duration is unreasonably long”.  Circumstances are the complexity of the case, the influence of the suspect and/or his lawyer on the progress of the process and the way the case is handled by the authorized authorities.    

The reasonable term for the investigation and the settlement of the criminal case does not start on the day of the offence, says the OM.   The limitation period starts one day after the date a ‘presumptive criminal offence’ is committed.  The OM emphasizes that these two terms must clearly be distinguished from each other.  The limitation period for a life offence is 12 years, and for murder 8 years.  “When the in February proposed new Aruban Criminal Code in introduced, murder will never be precluded by the lapse of time.”  From that moment on a suspect of murder can be prosecuted, even if the suspect has been subject to location and prosecution for a few years already”, says the OM.

I’m sorry that the sensitivities of some were offended yesterday, but in reality it was a very innocent exchange and meant to be light hearted.  How it got blown out of proportion is a little mysterious, but imo it would be best to just forget that attempt at humor and move on.  It’s just not worth the apparent headache it is creating.

Commentary: Another whitewash, or is it? And why ignore Curacao?

Natalee Holloway. It's a name that hangs like a cloud over the island of Aruba. Her disappearance two years ago has given both the island and its Ministry of Justice a black mark.

Finally, after being on the sidelines for most of the past year-and-a-half, authorities from the Netherlands have acted.

This, of course, raises the question of just why it took them so long to discharge their judicial obligations with respect to an island that is listed as part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Considering the glare of publicity given to the initial investigation by the island's police, as well as their lack of results and possible questionable procedures, the homeland authorities had to know what was happening. Especially since units of the Dutch Air Force were sent there in what became a show of noise without results.

A skeptic might ask if the current effort is only a political move or a serious initiative for solving this crime. One possible positive aspect might be the involvement of the Aruban police charged with combating drugs on the island. But that still means a section of a department that didn't distinguish itself in the first place is again being involved.

Another question is just why the prosecutor is evidently being promoted and sent back to the Netherlands. This is the same person whose efforts at arresting then quickly releasing suspects was named a "catch-and-release program," by TV host Nancy Grace.

Now that these investigators are already on Aruba, why stop there?

On the island of Curacao there is another case that demands their attention. Like the Holloway case, this one involved the disappearance of another American woman. But, in the case of Amy Lynn Bradley, it's known that she survived. Ms Bradley was kidnapped in March 1998 as the cruise liner she and her family were vacationing on docked at the island. Some passengers reported last seeing her with two men holding on to her as they walked along a deck. Minutes later, both men were seen again without Ms Bradley.

Apparently, there are situations where unruly passengers, and maybe misbehaving crewmembers are removed from ships. Still it's a wonder that a woman, dressed only in a pair of shorts and a top, could have been taken off a ship without either being challenged or really noticed. Especially since a liner doesn't arrive at a dock without a crew there to receive it. I'll let the readers arrive at their own conclusions about this situation.

Things get even more curious in the months that followed. Shortly afterward the kidnapping, Mr Bradley and his son headed a search party that returned to the island. Upon his arrival the Chief of the Harbour Police gave Mr Bradley a tour of the island. Bradley allowed that the tour didn't inspire confidence in this effort. Later he was told that the Chief made an interesting remark to members of the search party. In effect he told them the family should go ahead and search for her and get it out of their system, as they would never find their daughter.

At first glance, this might be a comment by a man that knew the island and what the family was up against. Over the next 11 months, other events transpired to give some doubt about just what this comment implied. That fall, two Canadians encountered Ms Bradley as she was being walked along a beach. After hearing reports about her, and remembering the tattoos she had, they reported this to the family. Almost a year later, a US Navy petty officer, visiting a brothel located close to the harbor and off-limits to servicemen, met Ms Bradley. She identified herself to him and asked for his help. Unfortunately he chose not to report the incident for another two years.

When the family contacted authorities on the island, Mr Bradley said they were told, "...we have no illegal prostitutes here." By that time the brothel didn't exist, as it had been demolished after being damaged by a fire. This means that, for at least most of a year, Ms Bradley was moved around the island in broad daylight as well as enslaved in a brothel right under the nose of the harbour police. Yet during all this time both the harbour and island police failed to find her, even they both knew about her kidnapping.

Another interesting fact is that apparently no one has found or identified the brothel owner. In the Bradley case, questions need to be asked, as three offences might be involved. This writer is certain that a civilized country like the Netherlands has sanctions against kidnapping. While there is a law in the Netherlands Antilles against forcing someone into prostitution, a Caribbean women's rights site explained it's never enforced on the islands.

Finally, since it is the 200th anniversary of the ending of the trans-Atlantic slave trace, there is a chance these laws are still on the books in the Netherlands. And this offence, if still enforceable, just might be a capital crime. Both the Bradley and Holloway cases raise many questions. Another, for Aruba, is if any police or judicial officials will ever be disciplined if it's found they mishandled this case. On Curacao, will officials, and another individual, ever face justice or discipline over the Bradley case?

Both cases demand answers from the authorities based in the Netherlands, who have the judicial obligation in the islands. If these questions aren't answered, it would appear both cases will end in a whitewash and the Dutch justice system will receive a well-deserved black mark on its record. One can only guess about the repercussions to the tourist industry in these islands.

Easy I appreciate your post, I think tiger and others tried to make amends and hopefully everyone will make that effort. It's just one man's junk is another man's treasure, with my work I've often found I need to be careful of that  :wink:

Two years ago the 18 year old Natalee Holloway disappeared on Aruba. In the middle of the night she went away with Joran van der Sloot en did not return.

We take a seat on garden chairs on a third-hand dinner table and drink cola.
Joran (19) studies International Buisiness Management on the Hogeschool Arnhem.
Prior to that he lived his whole life on Aruba.
When the tall, muscled guy talks about the sunny island his dark eyes are twinkling. It is understandable a naief girl from Alabama, like Natalee Holloway would get into the car with him in the middle of the night. What did he think of her?
"Better if I don't say that". A second later he does say it: "Easy". An American tourist like many he had prior. In his recently published book 'De zaak Natalee Holloway' Joran tells to extend about picking up young tourists. He dedicades 350 pages, very detailled-almost boring-about his life.
For example how lying is a second nature to him. How he lied since young age to his parents, teatchers and girlfriends. And how he after the disappearance of Natalee strongly lies to the entire world, including the parents of the missing girl and the police. That is why the police was on a dead lead for more then a week, and he and his friends had the time to clean up possible traces en making their stories match.

(I will now just translate merely questions and answers)

Interviewer: If you lied your entire life, why do people have to believe you now?
Joran: That is not necaissairy. Everybody lies at times. It is not something I am proud of.
Interviewer: What happened during the hours you was with Natalee?
Joran: I wrote that in the book, I do not want to tell it again.
Interviewer: But that is what it is about isn't it? You were the one who was last seen with her.
Joran: I have told it already ten times. I do not like talking about that again. I don't have to I think.
Interviewer: In what kind of state was Natalee that night?
Joran: You cannot ask me that, who am I to judge about that?
Interviewer: Was she drunk?
Joran: That is not a normal question. How would I know. I was not with her the entire night when she was drinking.
Interviewer: She fell asleep that night right?
Joran: No she did not fall asleep. She was out for a little while, I had that happening to myself also at a times. Things are twisted in such a way that it seems as if she was alseep. So I don't know what you mean by that.
Interviewer: I have read that.
Joran: I mean she was not asleep. Maybe two seconds.
(Interviewer writes his thoughts: hmz, Joran tells the police on June 13 2005: I am lying down for 10 minutes next to Natalee thinking, while she sleeps. page 159)
Interviewer: Was she unconscious?
Joran: No.
(Interviewer: Joran's best friend Freddy states on June 12 to the police that Joran had told him about the trip with Natalee, "the girl fell down several times on the way to the beach. Joran told me that at a certain moment the girl remained passed out and that they had left her on the beach./snippped/ especially since the phone call lasted 8 minutes)
Interviewer: I ask Joran what he talked about.
Joran lights a cigaret: What is there to tell if I only said that? I do not recall. I do not have an explanation for that.
Interviewer: You wanted to get rid of the girl, and that phonecall took place behind the Fisherman's Huts?
Joran: I went to stand there out of the wind. You cannot hear anything when you are in the wind. There was a lot of wind that night. I do recall that when the police started to talk about that phonecall.
Interviewer: Did you ask her to come with you?
Joran: I picked her up, that was just kidding.
Interviewer: It remains a strange story.
Joran: It is. I just should have taken her with me, but the intention was to leave fast.
Interviewer: Why were you in such a hurry?
Joran: To diss (get rid of her) her a little, because she wanted me to stay there with her. I thought on that moment in all honesty: fok you.
If I would have wanted to pick up the shoes, I would have to walk passing her.
When I was in the car I thought: fok that bitch. Fok those shoes, anyway.
Interviewer: Natalee was still on the beach?
Joran: It is disturbing now, but that is the way it went.
Interviewer: Disturbing.
Joran: Yes, it is disturbing that I have to tell all this. It of course is not something to be proud of when you leave a girl behind like that. That is one of the reasons I lied. I do not think I lied without a reason or something like that.
Interviewer: Why did you not tell the truth right away, like it is now in your book?
Joran: That is also because of the police. Every time I tell something, I just have to make one slip of the tongue and they are screwing me again. I thought at a certain moment: I am not going to cooperate one centimeter. f*** you. If you think I did something then go prove it. I know I did nothing. So I was basically just thinking about myself.
Interviewer: Did you think about Natalee's parents during that period?
Joran: No.
Interviewer: Why not?
Joran: I did nothing wrong. I feel bad because I left her at the beach. that for sure. But I do not feel sorry for her parents one bit. What they did was worse then what I did.
Interviewer: Because they called for a boycot Aruba?
Joran: Of course! That is insane!
Interviewer The police did an unannounced search at your parents home.
Joran: Someone had some gossip story, that she was in the well at our home. So they came to our house. They have looked if she was burried under the cement of the swimmingpool that has been there for four years.
Interviewer: The entire garden has been digged up.
Joran: Yes, my father and me have laughed about it. When I heard it I called my father. He just got home. He was laughing also. He told me that they had a search warrant to look for her. He allowed them to search the entire house. One can only laugh about that. I told my father: tell the investigators Joran send his greetings. But he did not think that was funny.
Interviewer: What is the biggest misconception that excists about you?
Joran: The US media have called me a murderer. But who I find worse is Peter R. de Vries. For him I had a bucket with water ready. When he was here and wanted to talk to me I ran upstairs, I thought I am going to pull the water over him and his babycamera's.
Interviewer (first mentioned the photshopped pic) : But you made that pic as a joke?
Joran: No, that is not true. I do not want to go into that I do take fault for that a little. I knew about it.
Interviewer: Is it not somewhat morbid to have someone make such a picture?
Joran: I do not want to go into that.
Interviewer: Why not?
Joran: Normally. It was not intended as sick humor.
Interviewer (I want to know why he wrote the book)
Joran: For me, I wanted to write it of me to be able to leave it behind.
Interviewer: You purely did it to be able to coope with it?
Joran: Why else would I do it?
Interviewer: To talk yourself out of it.
Joran: For whom would I have to talk myself out of it? That is the last thing that I would need to do.
Interviewer: How much money did you make with it?
Joran: That is none of your business.
Don't you think it is wrong that you are earning money on the disappereance of Natalee?

Here's what I don't understand. The statue for the other crimes would expire after two years. That is a fact. The statue for MURDER has no limitations. We all know that.

In a sense by keeping the case open they all know Natalee was murdered and they have identified the suspects as indicated by the search of the VDS home and the Kalpoe survey.

They ask everyone, including Natalee's parents, to believe there at this time is no evidence. The cell, text and computer records are part of the evidence.

The KLPD is involved on the theory that the ALE was inept. The KLPD is investigating a murder not a missing person.

How can the KLPD investigate a murder if there is no evidence to conclude there is in fact a murder?

WHY would they arrest the security guards on suspcion of MURDER?

I think they arrested the security guards because THEY COULD.  It made the situation appear as though something was being done.  It was a big frame up for the guards.  Because the sporter and his lying POS friends had pointed the polis in the direction of the guards, actually busting them gave the appearance of some actual crime-fighting going on when in reality nothing was further from the truth.

That incident has always reminded me of the last scene in Casablanca, when Claude Rains let’s Bogart go and then turns to his right hand man and tells him to round up the usual suspects.  The security guards were a convenient quick fix for ALE.  They probably had records for lesser crimes, spent time around the hotels and were not tied to anyone in Aruba of importance.  If Beth and company had not gotten to the island so soon, those to would have been the scapegoats and Aruba would have bragged about how quickly they solved the crime and how they did not tolerate such things in Aruba.  Tourist life would have gone on unchanged, or growing and that would have been end of story.

However, Beth got to Aruba so quickly there was not time for them to destroy the video evidence and complete the frame job.

I’m just not sure it was Jannsen and Van Der Stratten.  They did and said things in the beginning that made it look like they were going to nail the three suspects.  Then it seems like the investigation hit a brick wall and judges deciding to hold Joran and then deciding to let him go with conditions and then letting him go with no conditions.  Something had to be going on behind the scenes.

ZALady ... your believe mirrors one of my theories regarding the outcome of the Natalee Holloway investigation.

I speculate that there may be an negotiated settlement with Dave Holloway and Beth Twitty.  Natalee's remains will be returned to her loving family ... her country.  Joran will take responsibility ... responsibility for disposing of Natalee after she “apparently” died of a drug overdose. The consequences for a minor ... a slap on the wrist.  The "powers that be" in Aruba will acknowledge an "incompetent" investigation ... not "corrupt" and will assure the world that those involved will not work in law enforcement again.

Deepak and Satish as well as the sons of the elite will be spared from prosescution as they are able to reveal the truth which would implicate Paulus Van der Sloot as well as ... how well as the truth encompassing the circumstances of Natalee death.

Does the United States not have provisions in law that would afford rights to American parents of an American victim in their pursuit of justice. It appears that all the provisions of law in both Aruba and America are set up to protect the rights of the accused.

Yep, these judges can surprise us every time, but I thought the McGraw team made a valid point about the Aruban criminal code.  If a case is to be restrained based upon the laws of another land then it has no business in an American court.  At least that is what I got from their argument.

They really are a sad bunch of sick people.  If you take the "F" word out of their vocabulary some couldn't post at all.  I've found that many people who have to resort to that type of language to express themselves are using it as a defense because they just don't have anything else to say.  However, then there are just some people who are just plan classless and nasty.  I think they may fall into both categories.

I agree... what more can you say. The Judge sees it another way. Let's say this is a technical trial. If then Skeeters HD is untampered and ruled that 'clean' and Deepak is confirmed to have admitted they all have sex with her, that ruling would have to stand in the court of public opinion. It could go a long way either way.

Now I see in the filing that the Dutch are claiming the tapes or HD are altered. Jamie told me that the NFI declared them valid. So we will see where they stand on that one two.

Also, I would like to know the FBI findings on the HD... so I wonder if that will be disclosed?

One last thing- if the Kalpoes are in California for a trial, the make
themselves subject to any jurisdiction.. just like if they committed a traffic violation of a felony. They're there, they're accessible... in my opinion.

A long time ago, the ppl over at there posted pictures of themselves, some were old pics, etc. Medley posted a picture of three young boys, very nice looking boys. Probably weren't hers. Some other lady had posted her daughter's wedding pictures. Also a nice and normal looking bunch of people. Puzzling to say the least. FRIDAY, June 1 (HealthDay News) -- U.S. health officials warned consumers Friday not to use toothpaste made in China because it may be contaminated with a poisonous chemical used in antifreeze and as a solvent.
"The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has placed an import ban on all toothpaste from China," Deborah M. Autor, director of the FDA's Office of Compliance, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, told reporters at an afternoon briefing.

"The companies will have to prove that their products don't contain harmful levels of DEG (diethylene glycol) before it is allowed into the United States," she added.

There have been no reports of poisoning from DEG in toothpaste, Autor said. "However, the agency is concerned about chronic exposure to DEG and exposure in children and individuals with kidney or liver disease," she added.

The agency began its investigation after it discovered DEG-contaminated toothpaste from China had been sold in Panama. In addition, DEG in cold medicine reportedly killed at least 100 people in Panama last year.

"DEG is used in antifreeze and as a solvent and it is used as a low substitute for glycerin and as a thickener," Autor said. "It does not belong in toothpaste even in a small concentration."

Autor said consumers should throw out any toothpaste they have that is made in China. But, she added, "no major toothpaste brands are involved in this matter."

Chinese toothpaste makes up about $3.3 million of the $2 billion U.S. toothpaste market, she said.

The FDA identified the following brands of toothpaste from China that contain DEG and are included in the import alert: Cooldent Fluoride; Cooldent Spearmint; Cooldent ICE; Dr. Cool, Everfresh Toothpaste; Superdent Toothpaste; Clean Rite Toothpaste; Oralmax Extreme; Oral Bright Fresh Spearmint Flavor; Bright Max Peppermint Flavor; and ShiR Fresh Mint Fluoride Paste.

The manufacturers of these products are Goldcredit International Enterprises Limited; Goldcredit International Trading Company Limited; and Suzhou City Jinmao Daily Chemicals Company Limited, DentaPro, DentaKleen and DentaKleen Junior, Autor said.

These brands are usually sold in discount stores, Autor said.

The FDA has seized tainted toothpaste at a DollarPlus store in Miami, Fla., and from a Todo, a store in Puerto Rico.

"In addition, FDA inspectors identified and detained one shipment of toothpaste at the U.S. border that contained about 3 percent DEG and FDA inspectors also found product at a distribution center," Autor said.

"FDA continues to investigate this problem," Autor said. "If FDA identifies other brands of toothpaste products containing DEG, FDA will take appropriate actions, including adding products and their manufacturers to the import alert to prevent them from entering the United States."
