I skimmed through some of that FOB and RU stuff about the reward.  Jan(MedleyRelay) B. and Roger are trying to cast doubt in the minds of others about the reward.  They have also made claims that can't be confirmed.  Have any of them even attempted to verify anything, or did they expect someone to come to them with the details?

I think Roger has been all over the map on this case.  The stranger the theory the more he likes it.  What is his name?  Sam something?

Roger started out as a self described someone that only wanted the facts.  Then he started providing information to Julia Renfro and ALE.  Then he started that letter to Oprah regarding the Dr. Phil show and the Skeeters tape.

Then...he seemed to have a change of mind and started posting at BFN.  He stopped posting at Scrux and shut down the forum for a while.  Medlelyrelay got pissed at him because it appeared he felt that Joran was guilty.

No way to verify if this person posting with the name of "Roger" is really Roger.  Who knows, it could be JR Dutch Attorney?

Klaas I remember what Easy said and this guy Roger said he was Sam something,but you are right there's no way to tell who he really is.

I fly to San Francisco on Tues., July 24, and fly back home that Saturday. The hotel is on Fisherman's Wharf, so I can spend all my free time being a tourist.  :D

i felt fortunate....i only lost 120.00 in 4 days....as you can tell..i am not a big gambler!!! one of the ladies i went with was tho...omg...she can play 2 $5.00 slots at one time and not blink an eye :shock:

It sure is colorful!  When mom and sis were here last weekend we drove over to a little town nestled along the eastern shore of Mobile Bay to take a look at the flowers and grab something to eat.  The town is known for planting flowers all over the downtown area for every season.  There is also a very good Italian restaurant overlooking the bay where we pigged out!

There was a report on the news the other day that 1 out of 5 people now take a laptop on vacation and 4 out of 5 take a cell.  Getting away ain't like it used to be! lol

That's a beautiful little town.  Always a pleasure to go there on a Sunday afternoon and look in the store windows.  One art store has a huge cat that likes to sit in the front window.  I couldn't get a good shot of that, because the cat wouldn't pose for me! lol

I lived about 40 miles away from San Francisco back in my single days as well as after I married. I love Frisco. We do go back occasionaly. If at all possible take time to go to the Haight Ashbury section. Ashbury has some beautiful old Victorian houses.

Hi Angie! Yes, Cuz is the best!!!  My baby girl still misses her and working for her!! She talks about it a lot.  It was a good time in my baby's life and the cuz helped it to be better.

 I will have to look it up. Anyway Doug Tomlinson the owner has a very large Amish quilt collection on display there. The designers have their small offices with these georgeous antique quilts to inspire them. The solid colors that are usually mixed with black become like Pop Art.

I was there after graduatiog college...went with 5 other girls.  It was the first stop of a 2 week tour of CA, LV & AZ.  Loved San Fran, and would love to go back.  Now, wondering where all my pictures are...mmmm, Lombard Street, etc. That was long ago.  A young friend who I used to work with had to go there a week or so ago for a seminar/class....she booked the hotel online...said it was a dump and wasn't thrilled with her experience.  Seems you are staying in a better area....I hope you enjoy what you can in your spare time.

Joran asked me what we had to do at the police. I had told him that both of us would have to drive the route. He then said that he also was called by the police and that he had to drive that route also.

Joran's mother said: "the last half year Joran is having problems all the time, a few months ago he pushed a guy through a vitrine of the cinema."
When that happened I did not knew Joran yet. His mother also said that Joran is always in the casinos and that they as parents had not raised him like that.
"And now you are in trouble again. Don't you see how serious this problem is? If something has happened to the girl, then you are in a lot of trouble" She looked at me and my brother and said: You also. You went out on a Sunday night. Does your mother know you went out?" I told her my mother did not know, because we had left before she had arrived home. She said to Joran:"You Joran have sneaked out, your father did not even know that you had went out". This is correct since when we had picked Joran up that day, he had told us that his father was asleep and his mother was in Holland.
His father said at a certain moment: "Yes Joran, I don't know when you have left and also not when you came back home".
After this his mother said to us: "Boys you will have to go home soon". She felt we should not be out on the streets untill late.
We also should not go in the neighbourhood of the Marriott, because the police would control for sure, and you never know what can happen. After that she said that Joran had to go to sleep. Joran asked if he could talk a little with us. His mother said: if you can keep it short".
After that his parents left. Joran said the situation was a little difficult. I told him that it was a serious matter.But we still decided to continue lying.

Tuesday June 2 I went to wotk. At around eleven Joran called me. He said that there were people at his school who were putting up posters of the missing girl. He told me that on the posters it was mentioned the girl was kidnapped and that ppl should ask Joran how and what.(Joran): As it seems the situation is getting worse. My father has looked for a lawyer for me".
I told him we would talk later. I went that day around 4 pm to Joran's house, Freddy and his father Paulus were there also.
I sat down and his father asked if I had problems at my job. He told me that ppl had went to and put up posters at Joran's school.
He said that he had arranged for lawyer Anthony Carlo for Joran. He asked me if I had a lawyer, I told him no. He asked me if I knew a lawyer, I told him I did not knew any lawyers because I had no experience with lawyers.
I stayed for an hour, we listened to the radio and watched tv. That day there was a search for the girl.
After a while Joran's mother came into the room. When she was in the room I heard her talk to someone who was involved in the search. I heard Joran's mother say they were buisy searching at the lighthouse. On a certain moment Joran asked his father: Dad if they find the girl at the lighthouse we are in trouble.His father answerd: "Yes then you are in trouble because you have stated that you have been there with the girl".
Joran asked his father after that: And if they don't find a body? His father answered: No, if they don't find a body then you are not that much into trouble. I asked: Is it just like in the VS that if they do not have a body that they do not have a case against you? Joran said: It is just like in the VS. If they don't have a body, if they don't have a weapon, if they don't have clothes with blood on it, if they don't have fingerprints, then they cannot start a case. Before I left Joran;s father asked me if i could ask my mother to call him.

Joran June 13 statement (Page 158)

Around 3 am I call Deepak and ask him to pick me up. He asks where the girl is. I say that she is on the beach sleeping and does not want to listen to me.
He would come immediately. I wake her up and tell her that I am going to bring her back to her hotel. She refuses and goes back to sleep. I wonder if I better pick her up and take her. I am lying down for 10 minutes next to Natalee, while she is sleeping. I am not saying anything to her because her eyes are closed. When I hear Deepak's car arriving I wake her up once more, again she does not want to come with me to her hotel. I stand up and walk to the car.

GEL - I have always thought ALE had loads of evidence on Joran that they simply decided not use. It's the same kind of corruption that's found all over the world.

I once had a job where one of my co-workers was totally useless. She didn't show up for work for days at a time. When she did show up, half the time she was drunk or hungover. She was theoretically doing work at home, but her secretary lived with her, and it was a commonly know fact that the secretary did all the work. The co-worker spent most of her time having parties at her home where drugs flowed freely. The most amazing thing, though, is that on the few occasions when she did show up at work, she would always say that as long as the current governor was in office she would have a job.

You see, we worked for a government-related entity, and her mother was dating the governor of the state. And, the co-worker turned out to be correct. As long as that governor  was in office, she could get away with anything. As soon as a different governor was elected, she went to prison for stealing funds from her department at work.

Moral of the story - replace the MEP officials who are part of Aruban corruption, and Joran would probably be in jail in a heartbeat.

All the reward questions did cause me to do some searches and I did not find the particulars about any of the trust accounts setup for missing persons, or any other reward.  Most just give contact info to the financial institute managing the trust and direct readers to contact them for details.  I’ve never given it much thought, because I have never tried to collect a reward for anything.

My thoughts are that before a web site is setup that questions the integrity of anyone, those phone calls should be made and every attempt should be made to verify the info.  If those actions are not taken, then the author of the web site and all involved should be crushed like bugs for trying to defame the victims of a horrendous crime.

I agree with what you're saying about Oduber and Chavez, None. Also, I think the degree of corruption that Oduber is exhibiting has infiltrated all the way from the top to the bottom. A cover up in a tourist's murder is symptomatic of the whole general failure of government in Aruba, just as my co-worker's misbehavior was symptomatic of larger issues in our state government. When the guy at the top is known to be corrupt, the people on down the chain of command feel a freedom to do the same, IMO.

Actually, are you sure you couldn't put cans all over town asking for donations for a new truck? I see cans and jars at the cash registers in stores all over town asking for contributions for all sorts of things. I used to be on the board of a group that raised money to help animals. We were a legitimate nonprofit, but no one ever asked us to prove that when we used to ask merchants to let us left cans by their cash registers.

Maybe you should try that truck donation thing and see how much money you get. :lol:

Once Jamie told me that anyone who solves a case is legitimately entitled to the reward... that's why it's there.... but for most of us we are not following Natalee's case for a reward... we only want to see Justice. Nothing more nothing less.

Most of us would not feel right taking a reward for doing the RIGHT THING.

Natalee Holloway: Analysis Suggests Drugging And Gang Rape Involved

Dr. Andrew Hodges, a forensic psychiatrist, has begun to analyze some of what documented facts and statements are available in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway - that analysis suggests that both Deepak Kalpoe and Joran Van der Sloot may have been involved in a planned scheme which included the drugging and gang raping of missing Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway. He is currently preparing a full report for the family of Natalee Holloway.

Thoughtprint decoding is reading between the lines for unconscious messages, called "thoughtprints,".

A recent breakthrough to the unconscious mind reveals it is strikingly honest and far brighter than the conscious mind and that criminals are strongly inclined toward unconscious confession.

To decode thoughtprints one must be attuned to a suspect's unconsciously patterned ideas and not his literal conscious statements. The conscious mind speaks literally ("left brain") about certain issues, the unconscious mind speaks symbolically ("right brain") about deeper issues facts via thoughtprints.

Thoughtprints: Joran indirectly warned the girls from Mountain Brook High School including Natalee Holloway around 9 pm at the Holiday Inn Casino-- "Don't go to Carlos and Charlies, it's no fun on Sunday night." This suggests an unconscious protective warning, knowing that he was up to something (a group rape as he suggests).

Natalee Drugged: Joran spontaneously reported that Natalee was on drugs at C and C suggesting she indeed was drugged there. Deepak's thoughtprints also suggest Natalee had been drugged - reporting that he had lied to police because missing girls "usually show up at a crack house (sic)."

Both suspects independently introduced drugs's suggesting they drugged her in addition to the alcohol she had consumed. There are rumors of bartenders cooperating in such a scenario.

Natalee Resisted a Group Rape: Joran and Deepak both referenced the idea of sex being refused ("Joran said he refused Natalee sex in the back seat at one point, Deepak prohibited Joran and Natalee from sexual contact telling them to go get a hotel room) and of Natalee refusing to be touched while on the ground when she fell.

All of this strongly suggests sexual activity and touch being refused and that she put up a fight while held down and that there was both verbal and physical resistance.

A particularly striking story of Natalee falling-- physically out of control on the ground and intoxicated linked with the moment of separation (death)-- suggests loss of control through drugs, rape and finally through death.

Additional analysis, some anticipated to be discussed this week on Court TV with more going directly to the family, is pending. In speaking with Dr. Hodges, it was at least suggested at this point that, based upon other reports, along with the drugging, such a crime may have included luring Natalee Holloway away from the front of Carlos and Charlie's on foot.

Dr. Hodges "Thought Print" work was involved to some extent in profiling the BTK serial killer. His credentials include being certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a former Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and received the Outstanding Clinician’s Award in 1995 from the International Society of Communicative Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy. He is also a member of the American Psychiatric Association.

What is a “Thoughtprint?”
A thoughtprint is unconscious communication hidden within verbal or written communication.

The unconscious mind is communicates constantly and typically hides its messages in verbal or written communication generated by the conscious mind. We don’t always say what we mean. These unconscious communications are what is called Thoughtprints.

To understand thoughtprints and discern what is really being said we must pay attention to the big idea, not necessarily the literal idea. Pay attention to the subject a person introduces. The subject may introduce it through denial: “There are no sharks on the island.” Or by linking it to someone else: “Beverly was talking about seeing the sharks.” The key idea in this case is “sharks.” By paying close attention to the big ideas we get a clear idea what subject matter is on the speakers mind.

Every idea introduced must be taken as an unconscious part of them: They are unconsciously talking about themselves. In the above case the key thoughtprint “sharks” could suggest that the speaker is confessing he is the shark.

I have a friend who is a good person, but is also a bit strange. She is a physician and also a successful science fiction writer. Many years ago, when we were both much younger, she used to drag me to 3-day science fiction conventions with her. There were a lot of people there who didn't quite fit in with the rest of society. They were mainly overweight, unkempt, socially inept, etc. Some of them were so contrary that they would argue with a sign post and go the wrong way. I used to see the same people at all the different conventions, but I haven't had any contact with  them in years.

I think I know now where to go now to find them if I want to contact them again.  8)

Morning Monkeys.  It's a lazy Sunday morning here in AZ.  I looked at the RU garbage today.  Don't they know that this case is still open?  No one will discuss the reward until the case is resolved.  Then, anyone who has a claim may file for the money.  Until the case is resolved, there is no point in even discussing rewards.  And, yes, the offer of a reward is a binding legal contract that is enforceable in a court of law.  However--and this is a big one--the CASE HAS TO BE SOLVED FIRST before anyone will entertain claims for the reward money.  Geez, talk about putting the cart before the horse...   :lol:

Reward
A sum of money or other compensation offered to the public in general, or to a class of persons, for the performance of a special service.

It is commonplace for the police to offer a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of an offender, or for a pet owner to post notices in a neighborhood offering a reward for the return of a lost dog or cat. In legal terms, the person promising a reward is offering to enter into a contract with the person who performs the requested action, that is, turning in a criminal or returning a lost pet. Performance will be rewarded with money or some other compensation. Therefore, the legal concepts involving rewards are derived from the law of contracts.

An actual, valid offer must be made to create a contract of reward. The offer is merely a proposal or a conditional promise by the person offering the reward, known legally as the offerer. It is not a consummated contract until the requested action is performed.

The person offering the reward can do so on any terms she wishes, and the terms must be met before the reward can be recovered. The subject matter of the offer can entail the discovery of information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person, the discovery of stolen property and the apprehension of the thief, the return of lost property, or the recovery or rescue of a person.

A prize or premium can be a valid offer of a reward for exhibits, architectural plans, paintings, the best performance in a tournament, the suggestion of a name, or the achievement of the best time in a race.

Any person, including corporations, legally capable of making a contract can bind herself by an offer of reward. Legislatures have the power to offer rewards for acts that will be of public benefit. Legislatures, however, typically empower officers, such as the governor, the U.S. attorney general, or a federal marshal, to offer rewards for certain purposes, such as the apprehension of criminals.

Unless a statute requires the offer to be in writing, the offer of reward can be made orally. An offer can be made by a private contract with a particular person or by an advertisement or public statement on television or radio, or in a newspaper, handbill, or circular.

A contract of reward, like any contract, must be supported by consideration, something of value. The consideration that supports the promise of reward is the trouble or inconvenience resulting to the person who has acted on the faith of the promise.

Because an unaccepted offer of reward grants no contractual rights, the offer can be revoked or canceled at any time prior to its acceptance by performance. Once a person has performed or partially performed the requested action, an offer of reward cannot be revoked to deprive a person of compensation. An offer must be revoked either in the way in which it was made or in a manner that gives the revocation the same publicity as the offer. A later offer, in different terms from the first, does not revoke the first offer.

Generally an offer of reward that has no time limit is considered to have been withdrawn after a reasonable time. What constitutes a reasonable period of time depends largely on the circumstances under which the offer was made. In some jurisdictions a reward for the discovery of criminal offenders only lapses when the statute of limitations has expired against the crime.

A reward can be claimed only by a person who has complied with the conditions of the offer before it expires or is revoked. Performance can be completed by a third person, such as an agent or servant, who is acting on behalf of the claimant's interest.

When the reward is offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction, the return of property, the location of a missing person, or for other purposes, the person who furnishes the information is entitled to the reward. This rule applies even if, in the case of arrest, the person does nothing more than disclose the information and others make the physical capture. The informant need not become involved in the prosecution or appear as a witness at the offender's trial to collect the reward.

The information must be adequate and timely for a person to collect a reward. If a criminal has surrendered or the information was already known when the informant provided it, no reward will be given. Likewise, if the information does not lead to the desired end included in the initial offer, such as an arrest and conviction, or the recovery of property, the reward will be denied. However, when the reward is for the detection or discovery of an offender, a conviction is not necessary as long as the discovery or arrest occurs.

When a reward is offered for the apprehension or arrest of a criminal, a personal arrest by the claimant is usually not necessary. The arrest of the wanted person must be lawful, no matter who makes it. Those making an unlawful arrest cannot recover the reward because an agreement for an unlawful arrest is against public policy and unenforceable. If the offender voluntarily surrenders or is en route to surrender, the captors have not earned the reward.

Generally when a reward is offered for the arrest and conviction of an offender, the person claiming the reward must have caused both the arrest and subsequent conviction because both are conditions of recovery under the contract. The reward in such a case cannot be apportioned between what is due for the arrest and what is due for the conviction.

When lost property is involved, some states have statutes that provide for a reward for the finder or for compensation for the expense of recovering and preserving the property. If only a proportionate share is returned, the finder is entitled to a proportionate part of the reward. When such a statute does not exist, however, a finder has no right to a reward for the return of property to its owner if none has been offered.

If the offered reward is definite and certain, the finder has a lien on the property in the amount of the reward until it is paid. A lien is a charge against property to secure the payment of a debt or the performance of an obligation. For example, if John offers a reward of $100 for the return of his missing motorcycle and Bob goes looking and finds it, Bob can file a lien for $100 against the motorcycle with the local court if John does not pay him the reward. If the offer is indefinite, such as one that states "liberal reward" for the return of the motorcycle, there is no lien on the property.

Except in the case of statutory rewards, the general rule is that the person who claims the reward must have performed the services knowing of the offer and for the purpose of collecting the reward. For example, if Bob happens to find John's motorcycle in a ditch and returns it to John not knowing that he had offered a $100 reward, Bob cannot claim the $100. When a reward is offered to the public, anyone who performs the required service can claim and accept the reward, except persons who are under a duty to perform such services. A law enforcement officer, therefore, cannot claim a reward if the service performed is within the line and scope of the officer's duty. This prohibition will apply even if the officer performed the service at a time when he was not on duty or was outside his territorial jurisdiction. When, however, an officer acts beyond the scope and line of duty, there is no prohibition in claiming the reward.

A person who aids and abets the commission of a crime has no right to a reward for the arrest of the perpetrator. Similarly a person who purchases stolen property with reasonable grounds for believing it has been stolen cannot receive a reward offered for its return.

Awesome ship.  Amazing.

Went to Labadee, Haiti.  That's Royal Carribeans private area.  Didn't wander away as there is a travel advisory to Haiti.  Big iron fence around the area.  Was very beautiful otherwise.

Monteego Bay, Jamaica.  Stepped off the ship and right back on so we could say we was there.  One very nasty place from what I could see.

Georgetown,Grand Caymen  very beautiful.  Went jet boating and snorkeling.  Never done that before.  Awesome.

Cozumel, Mexico  very beautiful too.  Dune Buggy / snorkel excursion.  Great time.  A lot of reconstruction going on since hurricane Wilma.

Back to Miami, and the Orlando where we stayed with my nephew until Wednesday monring.  Went to Sea World, Kennedy space center, and Cocoa Beach.

But.................there's no place like home

Heard this morning that 200 passengers were quarantined last week with norvo virus.  Glad we weren't on that trip.  Geez all people have to do is wash their hands.  There are hand sanitizers everywhere.  Just no need for anyone to get sick if they'l just follow the rules.

Snoopy, I saw that ship on a Travel channel show.  It looks awesome.  Just huge, huh?  Eastern Caribbean is much more safe and friendly than western.  We were in Cozumel last Christmas.  I love Mexico and go there often.  It sounds like you had a wonderful trip.  Yes, the hand sanitizer is everywhere, isn't it?  We used it often on the last cruise.  I agree that you won't get sick if you don't eat off the buffets where food is sitting out and use the sanitizer and wash often.  We cruised on the Grand Princess last December, large but not as large and elaborate as the Liberty of the Seas.  We're trying a smaller and more intimate ship next Christmas that only holds about 600 guests--it will be a nice contrast.  Glad you had fun!!  :lol:

Hey Monkeys!  Just popped in for a minute to see if anything was happening.  #3 daughter's roommate brought her home from college today.  Fever 102 and feeling really bad.  We are about to go see a doctor.  Will check in when we get back!!

The key to being on a large ship is the location of your cabin.  My nephew is a travel agent sotospeak, and they have been on many cruises.  They set us up in cabin #6668 on deck 6.  It's toward the rear of the ship.  (don't remember the proper word for back of the ship lol) Aft maybe?  right below our cabin on deck 5 was the prominade which is amazing in and of itself.  Deck 4 was our dining area.   Then straight up to deck 11 12 and 13 where  all the action is.

Sumbody told me that the casino had pretty looses slots too!!  8)

Only complaint was the coffee was too strong, and the internet too slow.  They use Seatle's Best coffee, and it was just to strong for me.

We did get a little 3 on 3 basketball game going with some of the kids on the ship.  They didn't get the memo that my son is an amazing basketball player, and that I taught him everything he knows. lol  Daughters hubby to be is pretty good too.  Think the other boys were a little dejected that an old lady beat them.  3 pointers rule!  :roll:  8)  :lol:  :shock:

ORANJESTAD – Consumers of water and electricity will notice an increase of more or less 12 percent on this month’s utility bill.  Water- and Electricity Company WEB increased the tariffs again in June.  This is due to the increased oil price on the world market.  

The company emphasizes that the price for water consumption won’t increase for 40 percent of the households, because this group does not consume more than 12 cube of water per month.  The tariffs remain the same for this quantity.  The WEB bases the tariff for 12 cube water on a fixed fuel price of 35 dollars per oil barrel for the production of water.  The tariff for more than 12 cube of water and for electricity is based on 51 dollars that WEB pays for one barrel oil.  That is about 23 percent more than what the company had paid for one barrel in May.

I worked with hockey nuts and hockey mumma nuts. Man  worked closely with was a coach for Team Canada and still coaches.
Used to go to hockey games when the ' boys ' we knew were playing.
It was also a social thing. Many hockey parties. Only time my interest was peaked recently was when the Junior games were on. That is good hockey.
Now because of GD and her gymastics and soccer, interests lie elsewhere.
