Title: NORTHERN ROSE needs all the prayers she can get Post by: klaasend on September 16, 2011, 10:41:39 PM Evening Monkeys. I have come here to the Prayer thread to ask you for your prayers for our Northern Rose. Her oldest son was hit by a drunk driver on his motorcycle and has a broken back and internal bleeding. Her other son has had another lung surgery his 4th. They are waiting for the biopsy results from the part of the lung they removed. She and her family can use all our prayers. Thank you all very much. Bringing this over from the prayer thread so it is more visible. This must be so hard on Northern and her family. Even more prayers for hospitalized son that the swelling goes down and the bleeding stops. Internal bleeding continues, goes up and down in volume so not steadily decreasing. Dr's have him on blood thinners for clots so it is a balancing act between stopping the bleeding and stopping clots. He has been moved out of observation room and into normal room which is a small step forward. Nothing will be done about back until bleeding stops but he can still wiggle his toes. We thank you for your continued prayers. Your support is greatly appreciated. When things seem overwhelming I think about the monkey prayers and it gets me through knowing how much support we have.

I actually made some butternut squash soup with fresh ginger after reading this and thought of your kindness as I was enjoying it. He has been taught to swing his legs over the side of his bed and get himself into the sitting position with his brace on which means he can eat real food again. First request was sushi.

I do it all the time. 10 minutes per pound, on a plate with a little water, covered and vented with plastic wrap. Always very moist and delicious. Sorry about your oven. We have turkey often. It only takes about 3 hours unstuffed in the weber for a 15-16lb turkey and it's soooooo good. It has been so difficult and some days it gets overwhelming. Every day I thank god for being so blessed that I have all my children. Had one of the vertebra broken 1/2 inch higher I would be dealing with a child in a wheel chair right now. As things sit now we are so lucky as there is hope. I do not worry about the future right now or I would be in a loonie bin, I just cherish each day I have my kids and watch both boys recovery and cheer and cry inside as they each get stronger. What I thought was just going to be the immediate family expanded as the day went on and I kept adding chairs to our table. It was a wonderful day and had one of oldest son's friends join us who is in the army and a friend of other son who would have been alone. No shortage of food even though I swore to make a very simple dinner. When my mom came over she was loaded with cabbage rolls, pyrogies and all sorts of other goodies including a Swedish apple torte she made as she was "bored". Ended the evening with a nice game of Apples to Apples and it felt like a normal get together but with much deeper meaning. Tomorrow is a big day for lung son. Gets results of biopsy and recovery status during his follow up appointment. To add insult to his injuries the guy who hit him has pled not guilty and has hired a lawyer and fighting the charges in court. Lung son is back at work on light duties Oldest is having a hard time both physically and mentally. His next weekly xray is on Tuesday. Last one he was right on the edge of DR's having to do back surgery as the bone shards in the spinal canal have moved. To add insult to his injuries the guy who hit him has pled not guilty and has hired a lawyer and fighting the charges in court. Son was served with a sbpoena to be a witness to the accident. ::MonkeyNoNo:: ::MonkeyNoNo:: How wonderful that the guy feels the need to rub salt in the wound. Bet he did not even get hurt. I hope all works out and the bones stay put! I am glad you have a prosecutor that is willing to go to the wall on this. Hopefully justice will be done! Body cast was removed and he took several steps without it ::MonkeyDance:: ::MonkeyDance:: After second xray things stayed in place and Dr.'s were really happy He may be able to take the cast off for short periods around Christmas if things continue to progress the way they have and then start Physio. Had to take accident son for xrays this afternoon on his ribs and lungs as he is starting to have problems breathing and they want to rule out a blood clot in the lung that was punctured.
