Trade mission to attract Chinese tourists  
ORANJESTAD – The most important objectives of an Aruban trade delegation that went to Beijing this week is the attraction of tourists and the establishment of an international commercial center with high-quality Chinese products, here in Aruba .  

Prime Minister Nelson Oduber, Minister Nilo Swaen of Economic Affairs and Finance, and Agustin Vrolijk, director of Foreign Relations Administration are part of the delegation.  Other members of the delegation are:  Myrna Jansen, director of Aruba Tourism Authority, Peter Steinmetz of Aruba Airport Authority, Alfonso Boekhoudt of Aruba Ports Authority, Greg Peterson of Free Zone Aruba, Frendsel Giel of Aruba Investment Bank, Rien Schoon of Aruba Stevedoring Company, Gideon Blaauw of Ernst & Young and businessman René Kan.  

The delegation stays in Beijing for one week.  They will talk to the Chinese aviation authorities.  The young nouveau riche of China is very fond of traveling and the market is very large.  The delegation will also talk to tour operators and travel agents.

I guess the poor folks of China are the only ones not familiar with the Aruban Authorities.

Talk about unsuspecting dupes. I'm not real wild about the Chinese Military build up and hate communism ... and think they use prisoners as organ donors... but this looks like an untapped market of unsuspecting tourists for Aruba.

Bringing the Chinese in may help them out with their stray animal population  :shock:

Over the past several weeks I have been conducting a silent study of foot size by using careful observation and comparison, when proximity is allowed.  Thus far I have not determined a strict correlation between foot size and height.  Very tall people can have small feet and short people can have huge feet.

This has been an independent study and should not be confused with actual scientific anthropologic data.  :P

according to people in Portugal, the area is very ruff terrain and lots of weeds and bushes. Lots of hiding places. Lots of rocks and boulders.

Seems the media may have already been there before the Police. Also the McCann's were in the presence of the Police when the tip was announced.

Early info seem to indicate the tip might have come from a 'psychic' but that is not known. The info is only from an 'anonymous' person... no identity as to who it could be.

The Police first said they would search and now it seem that the info is too innocuous to search... So I'm not sure if there will be a search, if they are search now, or will search later. No idea.

Worse yet, the new wife entered the dog in The Great American Chihuahua Race and he got to be in charge of that.  Needless to say, she was far too spoiled to run and just stood there.

The son has to walk the dog wearing not only sundresses but rain gear and in the winter, little boots because her feet can get frostbitten or get snow remover on them which is poisonous.

The following recipe was taken from The Presley Family Cookbook, written by Vester Presley, Elvis' uncle and a guard at Graceland along with Nancy Rooks, a Graceland maid.

Degree of difficulty: Low

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Cooking Time: 5 minutes

You need:

2 slices of white bread
2 tablespoons of smooth peanut butter
1 small ripe banana - mashed
2 tablespoons butter

Method:

Spread the peanut butter on one slice of bread and the mashed banana on the other. Press the slices gently together. Melt the butter (or do what Elvis did and melt bacon fat), over low heat in a small frying pan.

Place the sandwich in the pan and fry until golden brown on both sides. Eat it with a glass of buttermilk.

Serving Suggestion: Elvis may have eaten 12 of these in one sitting...you may find one to be sufficient for a quick meal.

Also you have to have the frying pan fairly hot.  Needs to be well seasoned iron skillet.  Then brown it fairly quickly.  None is correct, it seemed to be on toast to begin with.

I couldn't eat twelve of them either but maybe two or three if I were really hungry.  They are just super good.

Seems this morning's letter arrived at the editorial desk of De Telegraaf. Currently 2 Dutch reporters are being questioned about the contents and what they know. The reporters are seemingly being questioned by the Police, but I am not sure if these are Dutch Cops or from Portugal.

Today there was no search. Tomorrow the Police will be at the area of interest with dogs. I assume these will be cadaver dogs, but it hasn't been said.

So that's pretty much it for tonight.

the laptops, de tv, the dvd player, the xbox and playstation portable are all there which is strange because that stuff is portable. also money and passports. my housemates room is untouched. the only things the thieves took are files with my statements and those of my father, and friends deepak and satish, plus articles and juridical documents relating to the Natalee Holloway case. my diary i kept in jail is also gone. Luckily Zvesdana the dutch journalist who wrote up my story had a copy of my diary and had the most important fielse with the pvs in her possession. several documents on my computer were opened and for some reason it was moved to the kitchen as was jens' computer.

I've been checking all day ~ nothing yet.  :(

THE CORRUPT ARUBA GOVERNMENT AND DUTCH JUDICIARY- A HISTORY OF DECEPTION IN THE CASE OF MISSING TEEN NATALEE HOLLOWAY

Within days of Natalee Holloway’s disappearance the Aruban government was fast at work on phase one of covering up her crime by inserting government spokespeople onto media and internet outlets. These front men for the government immediately began a campaign of deception about the case and rumors against Natalee Holloway and her family. One most notable spokesperson is Arlene Ellis-Schippers, a relative of a suspect in this case.

The Aruban government and business leaders embarked on a disinformation campaign in the media and on the internet within days of Natalee Holloway going missing. This started by suggesting she was a runaway but soon elevated into a full blown effort to blame Natalee for her own deah and cast suspicion on her family and fellow Mountain Brook students in both the media and on the internet.

Unfortunately for Aruba their misinformation campaign backfired repeatedly, the more intense it became. Americans only became more suspicious that a cover-up was taking place for the obvious three suspects, in particular the judge's son, and were more outraged. This has resulted in the whole island of Aruba being blamed for the actions of a few.

The second phase of government corruption began when it became obvious Joran van der Sloot, the son of a judge-in-training, would be unable to avoid arrest. Both Aruban government officials and Dutch judges stepped in to block the investigation and deter evidence from being collected. Aruba public ministry official Ben Vocking and Dutch judge Bob Wit blocked a search of the van der Sloot main residence twice—once when Joran was arrested and a second time when his father was arrested. The van der Sloot residence was never fully searched for nearly TWO YEARS.

The third phase of corruption belongs to the Dutch judges from Curacao who ruled on the case. These judges, who worked with Paulus van der Sloot, used the judicial system to make sure Joran van der Sloot and the other two suspects, brothers Deepak and Satish the Kalpoe were freed from further testimony in the case. The last person to be seen with Natalee Holloway, Joran van der Sloot was freed from detention on September 3, 2005 and released unconditionally by the Dutch judge Rick Smid. Upon his release he immediately fled to Holland.



Listed below are Aruba’s key yes-men, and their role in obstructing justice in the Natalee Holloway case

1- Arlene Ellis-Schipper- media spokesperson for the tourism group AHATA and cousin of another suspect, Guido Wever

Arlene was one of the early spokespeople to appear on U.S. mainstream media. Her most famous comment, which she repeated on several occasions, was "There is no evidence!" She also made the comment "This case is thin, thin, thin..." on Fox News.

It was later discovered that Arlene Ellis-Schipper had a set of very disturbing conflicts of interest in the case: First, she is a cousin to one of the suspects arrested in the case, Guido Wever, a close personal acquaintance of Joran van der Sloot who was arrested for "heavy battery" against Natalee Holloway.

Secondly, Ms. Schippers was forced to reveal in a television interview that she was being paid by the AHATA, a tourism group that has been documented with spreading misinformation about Natalee Holloway and her family throughout the case.

Ms. Ellis-Schippers was later caught in a blatant lie, insisting Beth Twitty had met with Karin Janssen on a trip to Aruba, a fact that was later debunked by Twitty herself.

Arlene Ellis-Schippers should have been prevented from ever talking to the U.S. media as a legal analyst for Dutch law as her cousin, Guido, was brought in for questioning within the first few days of the case. Yet she was allowed to remain as a spokesperson for well over a year.

Guido Wever fled the island of Aruba to Holland just seven days after Natalee Holloway disappeared.



2- Jan van der Straten- lead investigator for the Aruba Police Department and close friend of Paulus van der Sloot

Jan van der Straten's role as lead investigator in the first two months of the Natalee Holloway case demonstrates the obvious conflicts of interest found in the Aruba investigation. Van der Straten was, by Paulus van der Sloot's own public admission, a "close friend" of Van der Sloot.

Van der Straten would have been very instrumental in the decision not to arrest the three main suspects in Natalee's disappearance until 10 days after she vanished, even though he knew almost immediately that they lied about dropping the Alabama teen off at the Holiday Inn.

Van der Straten would have also been involved in the decision to arrest two black security guards on June 5, 2005 which in effect prolonged the time given to the three suspects to cover their tracks and eliminate any evidence that should have been collected immediately upon the discovery of the Holiday Inn lie.

Van der Straten stated to Dutch media on June 12, 2005 that he believed Natalee was no longer alive and when asked by the reporter why he would make such a comment he responded, "Because I know the evidence and you don't." Interestingly, two years later the lead investigator has never explained what that evidence is.

He also made comment months after he retired and moved to the neighboring island of Bonaire that the case should have been solved early on but that there were "people who didn't want to cooperate." Since suspects rarely cooperate, Van der Straten had to have been talking about a corrupt Aruban government and Dutch judiciary.

Any high-ranking official with such a close relationship to a suspect's parent should have recused himself or alternately been forced off the case, but this is Aruba, a country in the grip of Mafia control who never saw a conflict of interest they didn't like.


3- Ben Vocking- Aruban public ministry official and close friend of Paulus van der Sloot who blocked the search of the Van der Sloot property

Ben Vocking, also known as Ben King, is an Aruba public ministry official who worked with the prosecutor's office and was the former head of KIA prison on the island.

Ben Vocking curiously took a leave of absence from his government job the day after Natalee Holloway disappeared to help his friend Paulus Van der Sloot as he dealt with his son's apparent participation in her disappearance. Joran Van der Sloot was arrested on suspicion of murder on June 9, 2005.

Vocking laid low for two weeks purportedly staying at the Van der Sloot residence. He surfaced on June 15, 2005 at the door of the Van der Sloot home with Dutch Judge Bob Wit to block the search of the Van der Sloot property when the police and prosecution authorities arrived with a full search warrant.

Vocking and Wit successfully limited the search of the Van der Sloot main residence and property to Joran's small apartment only. They would do so again two weeks later when the father, Paulus van der Sloot, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Why would a government official and friend of two murder suspects be allowed to intermingle and co-conspire with a judge to block a search of their residence? This is just one more piece of evidence that strongly suggests widespread corruption in the case.


4- Judge Bob Wit- Judicial associate of Paulus van der Sloot who disallowed the search of the Van der Sloot residence

When a full search warrant was presented at the Van Der Sloot home on June 15, 2005, Dutch Judge Bob Wit of Curacao (along with public ministry official Ben Vocking) met law enforcement and prosecution authorities at the door to inform them their search would not include the main Van Der Sloot residence or the surrounding property. Wit had personally changed the order to include only Joran’s small apartment behind the home.

Judge Bob Wit intervened again eight days later when Joran’s father Paulus Van Der Sloot was arrested for reasonable suspicion in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, once again blocking a search of the Van Der Sloot home. Without question Bob Wit knew Paulus van der Sloot - they worked on cases together and appear to be very good friends judging from such an outrageous ruling.

Since when do arrested murder suspects get immunity from having their houses searched? Judge Bob Wit needs to answer this question in the open forum of the Caribbean Court of Justice, rather than hide behind the opaque wall of Dutch law.



5- Judge Rick Smid- Judicial associate of Paulus van der Sloot who granted Joran van der Sloot his freedom

Dutch Judge Rick Smid, also ruling from the bench in Curacao, is responsible for Joran van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers being free today. It was Judge Rick Smid who released the three suspects and gave them an unconditional release granting them immunity from further questioning in the case. Police statements and secret recordings of the three suspects suggest intimate knowledge of "something bad" happening to Holloway. He was also aware that Joran van der Sloot had lied repeatedly in his police statements. Judge Rick Smid chose to ignore this and grant immunity instead. Upon his release, Joran van der Sloot fled the island of Aruba to Holland where he currently resides.

Why would a judge exempt a suspect from further questioning knowing he had lied numerous times in his statements and had given conflicting testimony regarding other suspects? Judge Rick Smid also worked with Paulus van der Sloot in the Dutch judiciary system and therein the answer may lie.


6- Police Chief Gerold Dompig- The man who took over the investigation and was fired for his actions

Police Chief Gerold Dompig took over the Natalee Holloway investigation after Jan van der Straten retired in July of 2005. Before getting his pink slip in March of 2006, Dompig was responsible for numerous blunders and outright conflicts of interest that no doubt sealed his fate.

It was Chief Gerold Dompig who announced in Vanity Fair magazine and in a CBS television interview that he had a witness who had seen Natalee Holloway with drugs during her trip to the island. It was later revealed that his witness was his cousin, Boeti Naar, a well-known local drug dealer who lives in a plywood box on the beach in Aruba. What was Dompig's motivation for using such a dubious witness to tag Ms. Holloway as a drug user?

It was also revealed that Dompig was a spokesman for the tourism group AHATA, a clear conflict of interest that undoubtedly skewed his perspective of the investigation. AHATA is comprised of business and government officials who formed a now defunct committee called the Strategic Communications Task Force. Their sole purpose, it is apparent, was to combat anything the Holloway and Twitty families tried to do to force an honest investigation into their daughter’s disappearance.

Dompig’s fate was ultimately sealed with his decision to conduct a highly visible search of the dunes near the California lighthouse on the north end of Aruba. The search, spurred by a worthless hearsay tip from a local bartender, was announced months in advance and even garnered a Dutch search team with special equipment flown in from Holland. Nothing was found and Dompig endured heavy criticism for his mishandling of the investigation by law enforcement experts and pundits in Holland. He was fired shortly thereafter.

The FBI offered to bring in boats that were capable of searching for Holloway’s remains in deep water. Aruba's fleet is not equipped to search in deep waters, yet Dompig refused. Why would a police chief refuse help from the FBI? The answer may lie with the corrupt Aruban officials and business leaders he represented during his stint as police chief.


7- Julia Renfro, Editor of Aruba Today- Responsible for spreading misinformation about the victim and her family through the media and internet

Julia Renfro has contributed the lion’s share of misinformation that has come out of Aruba since Natalee Holloway disappeared. Her personal attacks against Natalee and her family have appeared on both national media and internet blogs. It is clear she has a relationship with the Van der Sloots, in part through her association with the IFA, and has publicly stated she believes they are innocent.

Her most notorious lie is that Natalee was attracted to a blue-eyed Dutch boy during the days leading up to her disappearance, a story that has been debunked many times through statements from both Natalee’s family and her friends from Mountain Brook who accompanied her on the trip.

Although the Aruban police, prosecutor general, and most recently the Dutch authorities from Holland, have publicly stated that Joran van der Sloot is still the primary suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, it seems Ms. Renfro hasn’t gotten the memo.

Renfro’s behavior has raised questions of whether her mission is a personal vendetta against the victim and her family or, even more troubling, that she is part of a larger plot to cover up the crime against Natalee Holloway.


8- Aruba's Internet Smear Campaign- The Aruban government enlisted government employees and outsiders to help cover up the case

Aruba's highest ranking officials, including Prime Minister Nelson Oduber, and government Tourism ministers Edward Breizen and Jorge Pesquera, mounted an internet campaign in the first week after Natalee Holloway disappeared to confuse the details and eventually denigrate the victim and her family. Government workers, tourism board members, and employees of local business owners have all been documented as using the internet for these purposes. Some of these are still very active today.

Prime Minister Nelson Oduber grabbed our interest with this announcement about his “anti incorrect news committee” on June 30, 2005:

At the weekly Government press conference Prime Minister Oduber officially presented a committee that was just appointed and with the task to minimize the effect of all the negative and incorrect information that is being disseminated on Aruba in connection with the disappearance of the American student Natalee Holloway.

“The committee has been working for some time behind the screens without too much publicity, and function on behalf of the people of Aruba in order to minimize the impact of the negative news that is being sent out.”

Jorge Pesquera is president and CEO of the tourism group AHATA and was instrumental in setting up the Strategic Communications Task Force, a group that would specialize in slandering Natalee's character and that of her family while creating smokescreens in the investigation. The SCTF worked mainly via the internet.

Tamara Waldron, an employee of the Ministry of Tourism and Transportation (headed by Eddie Breizen), made the following internet post at Scared Monkeys, falling in line with the government’s wishes:


"...looking at the picture does not mean blaming the island or its people….we should keep looking at the big picture which does involve at looking at other possibilities, other than a crime, for the dissapearance of the 18 year old.
So far there has not been any indication of a murder, a kidnapping etc and we should all stick together and help in searching for his girl instead of assuming things and smearing Aruba on the news.
I do believe she will be found as there have been numerous sightings of Natalee, which indicate more that this is a runaway case than any other….of course we don’t know for sure, but we must leave the windows of numerous possibilities open."

Congressman Spencer Bachus said they knew immediately that Natalee's disappearance was not the case of a runaway teen, but the Arubans didn't listen and continued to float rumors rather than arrest the main suspects.

Prime Minister Nelson Oduber went on (Aruban) national radio Friday night (June 10, 2005) to say if something happened to Holloway, it would hurt the island of 97,000, which depends on tourism and has a reputation as one of the safest spots in the Caribbean.



Many examples such as those above beg the question: Was the thought of having a murdered American tourist on Aruba such a threat to their tourism economy that the government would become involved in covering up the crime and assist in disposing of the victim?

Apparently so.

Natalee and her family deserve justice, and we will not let up until they have it!

Reason why Joran includes that above passage in his book.

1. To make DeVries look bad as he is about to launch an expose` on him.

2. Joran loves sympathy and needs some badly.

3. He knew his photo-shopped photo of him and Natalee was about to be released because someone found it on his computer while file sharing and he thought it would be a good idea to blame DeVries and the Sloot supporters would have a reason to disregard anything from DeVries.

4. Something else is coming in the future that was found on his computer, hence the FOB recent abortion. Joran would like to have a built-in reason to disregard that explosive whatever it is that's coming.

5. It's all a lie and he uses it to fill up pages of his otherwise drab ramblings and lying?

6. A mad man hack Joran's apartment and moved the furniture all around and left all the expensive stuff. That really confuses Joran. .:: Joran scratches head::..

I like this one and it would be typical of some of the reactions we have seen in the past.  When news pointing toward Joran is in the pipeline, the jerks accelerate their attacks on Beth.

Angie ... during a wind storm, the power went out while I was on the computer. I did not worry ... this had happened before. However, this time was different ... the power came back on but my hard drive had crashed. All my Natalee Holloway files ... gone.  Countless hours of research for nothing. My husband tried to comfort me but ... I knew secretly he was rejoicing. This guy does not say much but I know he has concerns regarding all the time I spend on the computer.

In tears, I contacted my computer geek son at his place of employment (teacher) and asked if he would come over after school and ... check things out. He assured me he would but told me not to worry. The previous week he had backed up my all my files while his wife and I had been yaking in the kitchen over coffee. Angie ... we have three grown kids who we love very much but ... this son immediately became my favorite. However, while he reformatted my hard drive and transferred my Natalee files, I did asked him not to tell the others.  :)

The following week my son-in-law installed a battery backup.

So ... between a weekly backup of my desktop files and ... the battery backup ...

Some of this sounds like a chapter out of “I Love a Mystery”, but it is not as strange as it might appear on the surface.  I’ve made contact with numerous people via email and with time much information can be shared.  If any of these people were in contact with any of the Van Der Sloots, a missing hard drive could be troubling for them.

They don't just drag people in and question them with those kinds of accusations without having some sort of reason, do they? What on earth did happen that night, and how many were involved?

Officers renewed an appeal for clues to the whereabouts of Stepha Henry, 22, who was last seen out in Miami on Memorial Day weekend.

After an annual Memorial Day weekend trip to Miami, Stepha Henry, 22, got into a friend's car headed to a club.

She has yet to reappear.

It feels good to know I was missed.   :D

As we all do, I read and see the stories about selective concern over missing persons.  At times I even question myself about such things.  However, I do not think that is what it is about.  I tend to be a one-track mind kind of person and I find it difficult to let go of the Natalee Holloway case before it is solved.  That does not mean I do not care about others that might be missing, abused, or in harm’s way.  It just means that my focus is hard and true.

This young woman was celebrating her recent graduation from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and was on familiar ground.  Yet, she disappeared and no one is answering questions.  Could we take this case apart minute by minute and make a difference?  I don’t know.  :roll:

Do I believe he has seen the evidence? Yes. I do. I think his words were intended to skate around the obvious. He wants to appear serious all the while hiding what he really knows. It's a balancing act on his part.

I have been following this case. Very sad. I really   have to wonder about the guy who picked her up and took her to a club. Said he left before she did, BUT, when investigaters wanted to search the car he drove that night...he claims he borrowed it and doesn't know where it is?

Our kids were both adopted at birth.  The youngest was 12 when we
seperated.  If I ask him for something, he say's, "they should ask

He's turned into a monster since I left him.  I don't even know him any
more and we were together for 22 years.   The reason the divorce
took so long is because he lives in Mexico... he thinks he's a king
cause he lives like one.

He bought off a judge and fraudulantly sold our home in Washington
state.  I got a new trial and now he's going to pay, dearly, for his
crimes.

He's started off with a bang of lies and I don't think this new judge is
going to be impressed with his shenanagans....  She's a ball-buster.

Divoce is the norm now.. :(  for what ever reason.
Most divorce law is way-way outdated.

When No children are involved (natural or adopted) should be one set of laws.
When children are involved another set (more laws) should apply.
But that is JMO
Like when a contractor offered to do a job for a little less if I paid cash so that income would not be reported towards his earning that determined his Child Support payments.
I made sure I had his Insurance coverage info... and then called him to let him know he did not get the job.. & his verbal offer & insurance info was being passed on to the Ins. company & certain county & state agencies.
He was quit unplesant on the phone  after that :lol:

Easy just a note here. We all have put our hearts and souls into this case but when there have been others missing we have also been concerned. Such as Kelsey Smith and before her Cubbies friend. Ben Owensby along with Shawn Hornbeck.  I think there is enough love on this site to continue being concerned for all the missing. JMHO

CBB - go check the prayer thread.  Lala's copied Peaches post there.  Peaches had surgery today, we are hoping all went well.  It seems they found a mass on her adrenal gland that needed to come out.

Friends of mine, their Opa  ( who is here now ) was shot at going over the Berlin Wall when it was first being built. My family had relatives who could not get exit visas under the USSR. They had to be supported by family here.

Hi Monkeys! This is Peaches better half finally sending update on todays "Fun with Surgery" activities. Her laporoscopic right adrenalectomy to resect the adrenal incidentaloma went "very well" according to her Doc. They were able to complete the surgery laporoscopically without having to convert to conventional open surgery so she wil be home tomorrow if they don't kick her out at 3:00 am. She was understandably PO'd that she had to wait in recovery for 4 hours due to a hospital miscue that has something to do with her Doc sending her to extended stay but extended stay having a policy of not allowing adrenalectomy patients. So she had to wait (and wait and wait and wait) for a room. She finally got into her room after 8pm and was only experiencing discomfort from the CO2 they pump into your abdominal cavity so they can see what they're doing during the procedure. Her Doc promised me that while he was in there that he would look around for anything that didn't belong there and he happily reported that there was no sign of any ovarian cancer recurrence. Of course we have to wait for the pathology report to come back from the roughly fist sized mass they removed but adrenal tumors are fairly rare and even one of that size still has about a 70 to 75 % chance of being benign. Her Doc told me that big doesn't necessarily mean bad so I'm praying this will be nothing other than something thats not there any more. I also ran into her Gyn-Onc Doc and he had spoken to her surgeon and seemed very happy that there was no evidence of ovarian cancer growing in there. So all seems well pending her pathology report. She may be well enough to post tomorrow but I can't guarantee anything.

I want to thank all of you for keeping her in your prayers and wishing her well. Y'all (geez I've been in the South a long time) have been great in supporting her and boosting her morale and I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. Thanks and God bless all of you - her dear Monkey friends. You are all family.

This afternoon was having late lunch out and I'd see that I thought was a flicker in my outer vision of a flourensce (sp) light. about 2 a minute. it increased to one every 3 sec. and someone said I might have a detached retinea (sp)Used the restaurant phone; called eye Dr. couldn't find him. So went home; Found him; he told me to get to UCLA ER right away... so I put out more water, food for dog and cat... they only eat when hungry and now (it's almost 5 pm) with traffic. By this time my eye was closing so I figured it knew what it wanted. I stopped for gas, paid for it and forgot to put it in the car (I thought I was together  :lol:  :lol: driing one eyed_

Anyway, Jules Stein Eye Univ/Institute at UCLA Dr. thinks the gel behind the eye was drying out and started to separate.. am to come back sometime in next month.  Eye shut now.. if I open it now I start to see the white things like in the beginning. So I said oh Heck and put a big glob of Calendula in it.

She wanted to know if I had a trauma recently, but didn't think the fall I had on Thurs. would have been it. Ankle doing fine. IBE is going to bed.

I first thought of my Monkey friends.. then thought gee, have no relatives, can't liist the Monkey friends, one relative left in Indiana so I put down one of the Vets at the Post for he was the only one whose cell phone, home phone, name I had and he has a car/  Then went to the pay phone and asked him if it was OK in hindsight. What if we get her but they wrap up the case with no one held responsible? Is that enough for Beth and Dave? Maybe. Is that enough for us? I gotta tell you it's not enough for me. I am past the point of no return. Maybe I am blinded with rage at this point. Maybe Natalee would bring closure for her family but....I brought this case up to my Dad's dinner table the other night. I hadnt spoken about it in awhile, not much to tell you know. But I brought it up about Tim going back. And Dad said that this has brought so many lives to a stand still...this has hurt so many people. And really he was meaning Beth and Jug and Dave but I looked down at the table and I thought of all of us here at scared monkeys. I know all of our lives have not been the same. At least alittle bit of each of us has been at a stand still and will never be the same. What does it take for Beth and Dave to get closure and what does it take for us? I mean I know I have learned so much and will forever be greatfull as a young woman for what I have learned from this tragedy. If there is any positive it is what young women hopefully have and can learn from this. But I dont think I can have closure until I see the guilty pay and justice done. Hopefully the family can but I dont think I can. I just find it so hard to believe that after everything that has been done by such wonderful people like Tim and others that have worked hard for Natalee and after everything scared monkeys has done...the things we have uncovered and by just keeping this going CONSTANTLY for 2 years, with having 3 countries involved...in the year 2007 with all the media and technology how in the hell this thing cant be solved? I just dont believe that it wont happen!! Too many people care!! There are too many people here that I know will never give up and as much as I get frustrated...I cant give up either. I care too much. It is a part of me and I cant get closure, I cant just give up and move on to the next thing.

Morning Monks! Here are some more statistics for you. These are April numbers from the past three years. In April 2005 Aruba was showing great increases. In 2006 and 2007 they are decling while the rest of their neighbors are showing big increases. Can't imagine why.

We have been told by the nadoos there are less hotel rooms available this year. If so the occupancy rate should go up. Not the case.

Ship calls go up while paggenger arrivals go down. Wonder why. Carnival talking a hike took $200,00 a week out of their pockets (based on Aruba's own numbers.) Cost of living index went up 5.0 percent.

Available data show that the average occupancy rate of hotels for April 2007 edged up by  0.7 percentage point to 81.8 percent, after falling slightly by 0.5 percentage point to 82.0  percent for March 2007. The Aruba Tourism Authority has not yet published the data on  tourist arrivals and nights spent on the island for March and April 2007.

Since February 2007, the number of cruise passengers has been declining. This number  fell again in April and May 2007 by, respectively, 17.3 percent and 25.8 percent, in spite of  a 3.4 percent rise in ship calls in April 2007 and a notable 75 percent hike in May 2007. A  major factor for this development was the cancellation as of January 2007 of the weekly  visits of the Carnival Cruise Lines to Aruba.

 In March 2007, the consumer price index went up by 5.0 percent, compared to the  corresponding month a year earlier. In contrast, the annual average inflation rate  decelerated to 3.7 percent, down from 3.9 percent in March 2006. The consumer price  index for April 2007 has not yet been published by the Central Bureau of Statistics.  


APRIL 2006

In January 2006, the number of stay-over visitors and their nights spent on the island fell by  15.8 percent and 10.3 percent, respectively, compared to the corresponding month in  2005. The Aruba Tourism Authority has not yet published the data on tourist arrivals and  nights spent on the island for February, March and April 2006. However, according to the  Department of Immigration, air passenger arrivals dropped by 14.7 percent during the first  quarter of 2006 compared to the corresponding quarter a year earlier.


APRIL 2005

The Aruba Tourism Authority has not yet published information on the number of  stay-over tourists and their nights spent on the island for the months of March and  April 2005. Data on the average hotel occupancy rate show a 0.4 percentage point  increase to 85.4 percent compared to the corresponding month of 2004. In April 2005, both cruise passenger arrivals and the number of ship calls rose  notably by 15.8 percent and 12.9 percent, respectively, compared to April 2004.

I've been thinking about the upcoming ocean search.

My view -

Natalee is most likely in the ocean.

Reasons why-

1. Dompig said himself that the suspects got nervous when a search of the ocean was mentioned.

2. Didn't the power go out island wide on the night it is alleged that the ocean disposal was carried out?

3. TJ Ward is convinced Natalee was disposed of at sea by Columbians hired by Paulus - possible reasons for ATM transactions.

4. Tim Miller would not search an area without in-depth knowledge or background to lead him to that conclusion.

5. Dompig halted the FBI, who volunteered the use of deep sea equipment. More evidence of a cover-up.

6. Aruban Authorities total disregard and neglect of completing a through search of all areas, including the sea. - More proof of a cover up.

7. Dave Holloway indicates that Natalee was disposed of at sea and he sticks to the Amelia Flanigan theory.

8. Joran triangulated to the north end of Aruba on beach area. Possibly to take Natalee to the Columbians or to Koen or to Steve Croes.

9. Dompig indicates all shipping traffic is recorded by their radar system. So where is the evidence? and recorded times?

10. Sander Gottenbos missing a cell phone on night in question. Gottenbos' also own a boat.

11. Paulus van der Sloot is convinced that Natalee will not be found. The ocean is a big place. Hard to find a neddle in a hay stack.


-All other theories are OURS and not based on what is known by the people who were on Aruba and investigated the case first hand. Most of those investigators believe that Natalee seem to be in the ocean.

-Cremation, the only way to make sure Natalee is never coming back. This adds more witnesses and a possible leak down the road.

-Land Fill / Dump, again Natalee could be found and the suspects charged.  Not the outcome desired by Paulus- who has the most to lose.

-Crypt, again Natalee could be found. No one can guarantee that the KLPD will not open a crypt, not even Oduber.

-Still on Aruba, again she could be found and the suspects charged. The majority of Aruba has been and was searched in the early days, and if Natalee was in a position to be found, I believe she would have been. Someone would have most likely stumbled over her, even if by accident.

People living on an island would be completely stupid not to take advantage of the ocean to rid themselves of the crimes they committed.

You know I have long felt that the Gardner's testimony of spotting the boys in car was because they were in plain view of the beach from that vantage point.  I believe they were waiting there for a boat to come to pick up Natalee. This has always made the most sense to me...and now, even more so...

Joran says water and I say land.  I always go the opposite from what the liar says.

I think that, if one of the locals assisted, the search site may be within the 12 mile zone....however, if non-Aruban assisted, the area could be a lot larger....and anyone who ran drugs could use area many miles away.  :(

I think this was a true statement but probably not at the fisherman huts area.  I think dompig was correct when he said she was moved several times. The Deep Sea would give the sloots that confidence of never being found. It seemed like the Aruban Authorities hampered all searches whether it was at the Landfill or at Sea.

I think there might have been evidence of some sort in the landfill, but I think that Natalee was probably taken out to sea. My main reason for saying that is that I think Tim must have some sort of compelling reason to invest that much in the ocean search.

One thing I cant totally dismiss BT is the initial report that the small white pick up that was spotted was the ALE vehicle that was assigned to van der Straaten.

In the beginning there was the reports of an ALE license plate spotted on that vehicle and when the plate was ran it came back to va der Straaten. Also along with that report was the fact that some sort of bloody towel was also found in the vehicle.

I have known Joran since August through Freddy. Mostly Joran, Freddy,
Koen, Sander and I go out together. Joran is a good friend. I have never
had problems with him. I do not know him as an aggressive person. When
Joran is drunk he is very cheerful. On a certain day, I do not remember
what day I was called by Joran on my cellphone. He asked me if I could
remember that on a day he had asked me to go out with American girls.
Joran told me that the American girl that went out with him was now
missing. Deepak, Satish and Joran had dropped the girl off at the Holiday
Inn. Joran told me that he would talk about it later. A few days later,
on Friday June 3 or Saturday June 4 I had bought a pizza at Domino's.
After that I went to Joran's apartment. Koen, Sander and Joran were
playing poker there. I told them I had brought them pizza and cola. I asked
Joran if the missing girl was found. Joran said no. Then Joran told me
that Deepak, Satish and he had driven to Carlos and Charlies wi
th the grey Honda Civic from Deepak. and that later that they had
driven around, the three of them and the girl.
According to Joran the girl was strange because she had said that her
mother was the sister of Hitler. Joran said that the girl wanted to see
sharks and that they had dropped her of at the Holiday Inn. When Joran
was telling me this Joran's father entered the room and after that the
event was no longer discussed. Around 11 pm I left to go pick up my
father from work.

Page 125 Deepak's June 13 statement (about Joran's father) :
Joran's father believed the story we had told him. He was always polite
to me and my parents. When the case of the girl became serious towards
the end of the week, he had asked me if my father had a lawyer. I said
to him that he didn't. He asked me if I knew a good lawyer. I told him
that I did not have much experience with lawyers. He told me not to
worry; he himself would find a lawyer for me and my brother. Paul told me
that he had arranged lawyer Anthony Carlo for Joran.
Around 4:30 am I had went with my brother (Friday June 3) Satish to the
house of Joran, my mother was there also. She came during her break
from work.
Our parents met for the first time and we went to sit on the porch. My
mother first wanted to hear Joran's story before she could believe our
story. Joran had told the HI story. Joran's father said the situation
could go better or worse. He asked my mother whether we had a lawyer and
she said no we never had problems.
Joran's father said: Wait let me look for one for you. He went to get
his bag. He opened his bag and took out a note with some names on it.
Then Joran asked if I wanted something to drink, I said yes. Joran and
Satish went to get drinks. Paul said that Rudy Oomen is a good lawyer and
called him straight away. He gave the phone to my mother and she spoke
a little with Oomen. We had a meeting together on Saturday at 11 am.


Page 126, Deepak's June 14 (?) statement.
On Friday June 3 I went to work again from 9 am till 4 pm.
Joran called me in the morning. He was at school. He asked me how I
felt and I said, ok, I am fighting with it.
He said he did not feel good. He said he was stressed. I asked why. He
said he did not feel good about the whole situation and if I could stop
by since his mother would not let him go out to any place.
In the mean time Steve Croes had come to my place of work. Steve had
told me that he had seen us at the Holiday In, I had told this to Joran
in one of our conversations.
My mother had called me to say that she would go talk to Joran's
father. Around 4 pm my brother picked me up. We went to Joran's house. I told
Joran's father that my mother would come soon as she had her break from
work.
He told me he had learned from Joran that I had good news.
I told him about Steve. Joran's father said:" That indeed can be good
news".
My mother pushed the horn in front of the house, Joran's father went
out to meet her. My mother, Joran's father, Joran, Satish and me went
sitting outside.
Joran's father said: we all know about the situation in which the boys
find themselves. They are in trouble, The situation can go better or
worse. He informed Oomen that he had Carlo as a lawyer for his son, and
asked Oomen if he would represent us. Oomen agreed. After that Joran's
father called Anthony Carlo and said that he had called Oomen for us and
if Carlo could also come the next day for the appointment.
He also had asked the mobile phone number of Oomen and gave that to my
mother.
My mother left, her break was over.
After that we went to sit in Joran's room, 3 girlfriends of ours were
there also but after a while Sander, Flor, Amanda and Guylaila left.
Joran's father was also in the room. At a certain moment Joran asked
his father what would be the worse thing that could happen to us. Joran's
father said that we could be arrested and that we had to wait a little
so he could show us the entire schedule.
After a while he came back with the law book and an overview, he told
us precisely what would happen; that we first would be arrested, we
would be handcuffed and someone would read us our rights. So why we would
be arrested and then they would take us to the police bureau.
After that he showed us the schedule, and that we would stay there for
the first two days. That after two days we would go to the
Rechtercommisaris, and that after that we would get eight days.
He said we would be interrogated. He told that people would point out
our rights to us. So that we would have a right to remain silent, and
have a right to an attorney.
He said we should use our right to remain silent until we had spoken to
a lawyer. We stayed there the entire afternoon.
A while later Freddy came with Joran's friend Carmen, her sis Celine
and a friend.
We stayed there till around 10 pm. When Satish and me went to the car
Joran and Freddy walked with us. We stayed and talked briefly. In this
conversation we had spoken again about the sport shoes of Joran, how we
would arrange that. Freddy had already proposed to buy Joran new ones.
He had asked Joran if he had arranged that. Joran then said: Imagine
someone has murdered and buried her, then they will never find her and
they will always be after us. After that we went home.

Page 128, Deepak's June 10 statement.
(Deepak about how it was possible that he and Satish had a lawyer so
soon) :
After the witness statement Joran's father said we had a chance to get
arrested and that we should prepare for that.
That " preparing" was looking for a lawyer. Both our families had an
appointment at the same time with the lawyers at their office.
Our lawyer asked us if our witness statements were true and said we
should stick with that story.

Page 128, Deepak statement about the appointment with Rudy Oomen.
At around 10:30 am (Saturday June 4) I got up. After that the entire
family except for my sister went to the office of Oomen. When we arrived
there Joran, his parents and lawyer were already there. We took place
at the table and Rudy Oomen introduced himself. After that he said that
we had to tell the story again.We had told him the made up story, so
the Holiday Inn story. The lawyer said this was a serious matter. He also
said we had a chance to get arrested, but that he did not know how much
evidence the police had.
He further said if that would happen, that we had his phone number and
could call him.
On a certain moment the mobile phone of Joran's mother ringed. She
stood up and went outside.
After a while she came back and said that she had heard from a friend
that they had found the girl.
She asked Joran's father to call Van Der Straaten and verify this.
Joran's father called Van Der Straaten, but he did not answer his phone.
Joran's father said he would continue trying and if something was up we
would hear about it.
I have to tell you that I heard the name Van Der Straaten mentioned
very often. I did not know who he was until I started following the case.
After the meeting I went to my work. Joran went home. I did not see
Joran again that day, but I did call him.
I called him around 8 pm. I had told him I would come to him to stay
the night, but my mother did not agree with that, so I cancelled Joran.

Page 130, Deepak statement about June 5.
On Sunday June 5 I got up around 2:30 pm. My mother had woken me up
with the message that two people were arrested in the case of the girl.
Joran had called me twice. He asked me if I had seen the news. I
answered that I had seen the news and asked him if he thought that these guys
had done it. With that I meant kidnapped or something.
Around 7:30 pm my brother and I went to Joran's house. When we arrived
there we started to talk that that day things were better.
I thought the two guards were the perpetrators and that we would be
free now.
After that Joran's parents came. The father said: Boys, I think you are
not under pressure anymore now.
The mother was sort of bothersome that day. She said we had to go home
because Joran had exams the next day. After that we went to watch tv
for a while in Joran's room.
After a while we got hungry, we walked to Freddy's home. Then the four
of us went to a restaurant close by to buy food.
After this we went back to Joran's house, watched tv, ate and talked a
little. After a while Joran's father came and said we had to go home
because Joran had exams the next day. We went home.

Page 133, Deepak statement about June 6.
On Monday June 6 I went to work. That day I did not see Joran. That day
"Operation Natalee" was on tv.
I thought that I would not go on the street that day. I thought if
people would see my grey car they would ruin it and beat me up. I just was
afraid to go on the streets.
After my work I went home. Around 6 pm Joran called me. He asked how I
was doing and what I was doing.
I told him that I was just home and asked him what he was doing.
He answered he was not doing ok because many people from the press were
in front of his house.
He further said that he was in his room and that his parents were
talking to the people from the press.
I told him to remain calm and that I would call him later. I send him
an sms after that: 'If the people from the press don't leave you have to
call the police'.


Page 133, Deepak statement about June 7.
Tuesday around 7 pm Joran called. He told me he was on his way home and
if there was no press I could come.
Around 8 pm I was there. Joran gave me an invitation to his graduation.
He also said that he had to see a psychiatrist the next day.
He said that his mother had placed him under the treatment of a
psychiatrist because it all was to much to handle anymore.

Page 133, Deepak statement about June 8.
That Wednesday Satish and I stayed until 01:45 at Joran's watching tv.
My mother called angry and said that we had to come home. When I walked
outside Joran asked Satish if he would come the next day to cut Joran's
hair.
On the way to the car Joran said to me: Do you remember the way back
from the Holiday Inn? I said yes, we have dropped off the girl and we
have brought you to your home. He said: Come to my room for a while, I
will explain to you on a piece of paper, it is very important.
He told me that I should remember (what we had done) after we had
dropped the girl off, I had to say that we drove off from the hotel and had
driven into a North-East direction and not in a South-West direction,
this to prevent that police would go and check camera's of the other
hotels and would see that we had not driven to the HI.
After that I told him ok and we went home.
At home I went online. Joran reminded me again that Satish had to come
to cut his hair the next day.
I went to sleep.
Why I did not tell this the first time? If I knew I had the devil as a
friend then I would not have let this happen. I have put my entire
family under stress. I can give you a list of the problems that Joran has.
He himself has said he had stolen money from his mother. He also says
that if his brothers go into his room he beats them. Joran has
completely beaten up a guy at Bahia, because according to him the guy had told
something about him to the headmaster that was not true.
Joran has destroyed more car front windows then any drug dealer on the
island. Sometimes when we are out he says: Lets go! If we ask him what
is going on he says he has smashed in a front window of a car. He also
has admitted that he has stolen property from tourists several times.
He goes to the casino's since he was 16. Everywhere where he sees a fire
alarm he has to put it on. He has performed a lot of vandalism in
several hotels. That is what I know about Joran since I know him. By now I
also know he is a super liar.

Page 135, Koen June 17 statement about June 8.
At 4:30 pm I was with Sander at Joran's house. Flor, Amanda and
Guylaila were there also. We were sitting in Joran's apartment.
The Natalee case was discussed. At a certain moment Joran asked us if
we could leave his room, so that he could talk to Flor alone. Sander,
Amanda, Guylaila and me went outside. After about 45 minutes Joran called
us back in. We saw every day that the media were talking about the
Natalee case. We asked what the consequences would be when he would be

Page 138, PV from Joran's arrest.
On June 9 the man named Joran Andreas Petrus van der Sloot, born on
August 6 1987 in Holland, student in Aruba was arrested.
Also a search in the apartment of J.A.P. van der Sloot was performed.
During interrogations from the suspect Van der Sloot and his fellow
suspects they gave contradicting statements amongst other things about the
dropping off of the girl, which had led to a suspicion that the missing
girl very possibly could have stayed in the apartment of Joran van der
Sloot. Because of this there are grounds to start an investigation in
the apartment and to perform a technical investigation in the cars of
the parents.

Page 142, Joran's June 9 statement (partial).
We had driven around with Natalee, I had kissed her in the backseat. I
did not know how much she had drank because I only was there for an
hour. In the car she fell half asleep several times. We drove back to the
Holiday Inn, and parked on the left driveway, not the driveway that is
exactly in front of the lobby. Natalee got out and fell on the ground.
I got out of the car by the same door and helped her get up. After I
had done that Natalee told me not to touch her and she walked in the
direction of the lobby.
I saw she touched a pilar. We did not kiss eachother and I got back
into the car. After that we went home. Later when it became known that
Natalee was missing Deepak and Satish told me that they had seen a guard
in black when they drove away.
According to them he had a walkie talkie in his hands. Deepak and
Satish said that the guard walked into the direction of Natalee. After that
Deepak brought me to my house.

Page 148, Joran's June 10 statement (partial).
When Anthony came I told him that I had lied, that Deepak had dropped
me off at home and that he then had driven away with Natalee. I could
see Anthony was shocked. He said: "Then you have to tell that to the
police". So I went and gave a statement.
I told Jacobs that Deepak first had brought me home and that he by
himself had dropped off Natalee at the Holiday Inn. That Deepak had later
told me that it was better to say that the three of us had dropped the
girl off. And that it would be more credible if we said that the girl
upon arrival at the Holiday Inn had fallen on the ground. That Deepak
also had told me to say that the girl had fallen half asleep in the car
during the ride.

Page 154, Freddy after his June 12 statement:
(Joran) That night Freddy, per request of my mother, visited, to tell
everything.
Freddy's parents are coming along, because they do not find it a good
idea that Freddy goes alone. Besides my father Paul and my mother Anita
my lawyer Anthony Carlo is also present at our home per request of my
mother.
My mother asks Freddy to tell everything again.
Freddy: I could see on Anita's face that she did not know Joran had
left the girl on the beach and that he has lost his shoes. I also told
that Joran, Deepak, Satish and me had talked about it that I would buy new
shoes for Joran. Anita could not believe everything I was telling. (as
in amazed).
Carlo asks several times why Freddy thinks that Joran left his shoes
behind.
Freddy answers: Joran did not want to walk with his shoes on the beach
and probably left them behind because of that.
Freddy tells the beachstory again that I would have told him on Monday
May 30.
Carlo in between asks questions all the time.
Freddy: I felt he asked me those things because he thought that me as a
good friend of Joran could understand why he had done these things. I
do not believe he asked those questions because he thought Joran would
have told me, because he repeated every time: Why do you think that?
My father does not ask Freddy anything, but he does react on Freddy's
answers to my mother. He says: why does Joran lie, and why did he not
tell us that?
My mother had promised the conversation would last 10 minutes max, but
after half an hour Freddy's father gets up.
My parents did not agree with Joran's parents having invited me, Freddy
says.
After Carlo had called the head officer for permission to visit me, he
confronts me with what Freddy had said. I immediately admitted I had
lied and that Freddy was telling the truth.
To be honest at that moment I did not care anymore. I was sick of lying
and I was sick of myself.
I never forget how I, after I had spoken to Carlo, looked through a
small window and saw my mother with her best friend standing and crying.
Only on such a moment you realise everything you have done, and
especially what huge impact it can have on other people.

Page 156, June 13 informal talk with Jan van der Straaten.
Jan van der Straaten, head commissar of the police, talked to me after
lunch around 1 pm, informally at the police station in Oranjestad. He
said: Joran, I have known your father for years. I only want to help
you. I am going to see to it that you can go to Holland. That you will not
have to go to jail, but that you will be committed in a mental
institution. You only will have to tell the truth.
In the PV from Jan van der Straaten of June 13 he writes about this:
On my question to Joran if he can tell what happened after the girl had
fallen asleep at the Fisherman's huts, he answers: I called Deepak and
he came with two dogs. I think he raped the girl and done something to
her.
On my question where the girl then is buried, he answers: I think she
is buried next to the Fisherman's Huts, other then that I would not
know.
I propose to Joran to answer the following question with just yes or
no. I ask Joran if the girl was thrown into the sea?
He answers: No, I mean, I don't know.
During the conversation Joran shows his emotions, they differed.
Sometimes he cries, sometimes he is very direct in his answers. Joran also
indicated he felt very sorry for his family, and that he is having the
best contact with his father.
I ask him why he then has lied to his father about the Holiday Inn.
Joran answers on that that he has disappointed his father by doing so.

Page 157 Joran June 13 statement.
At 2:40 pm I take back my earlier statement that Deepak has dropped off
Natalee by himself at the Holiday Inn.
I finally admit to the police that my earlier statements were lies.
My third statement is not entirely the truth. I am now willing to tell
the full truth.
That Deepak, Satish and Natalee early morning have driven to my house
is true.
Deepak drives, Satish sits besides him, and Natalee and I are on the
backseat. At around 1:40 pm we stop in front of my house. I ask her if
she want to come with me to my apartment, because I want to sleep with
her. I would after that call a cab for her that would bring her to the
hotel. Natalee does not want to enter, but she all of a sudden wants to
see sharks at North coast.
She speaks normal and her eyes are normal also, but she was a little
drunk and often fell half asleep.
Then we pass her hotel, but she does not want to go there. I tell
Deepak to drop us off at the Fisherman's huts. It is my intention to walk
back from there to the Holiday Inn and have sex on the way.
She leans on me after we got out of the car and while kissing we walk
into the direction of the Holiday Inn, but Natalee wants to walk into
the other direction. When we arrive at the Fisherman's huts we kiss. She
wants to stay sleeping on the beach, I want to go home, I have
try-exams the next day. I tell her I have to go home and that I am walking with
her into the direction of the hotel.
Natalee does not want to go back to her hotel, she wants me to to stay
with her looking at the stars and tells me again that she does not want
to go home. I lift her up and walk a while, but she wants me to put her
down. Around 3 am I call Deepak and ask him to pick me up. He asks
where the girl is. I say that she is sleeping on the beach and does not
want to listen to me. He would come immediately. I wake her up and tell
her that I am going to bring her to her hotel. She refuses and continues
to sleep. I think if it is not better to lift her up and take her with
me. I am lying next to Natalee thinking for 10 minutes, while she
sleeps.
I do not say anything to her because her eyes are closed.
When I hear Deepak's car arrive I wake her up again, and again she does
not want to come to with me to her hotel.
I get up and walk to the car. I tell Satish that Natalee is sleeping on
the beach. Satish answers: Don't f*** with that bitch, someone will
find her tomorrow.
Around 3:30 am Satish drops me off at my house. I have left my shoes on
the beach. Satish tells me he will go get them the next day. (note, on
page 171 Joran says that in his June 19 statement he first admitted it
was Satish who picked him up instead of Deepak).

Page 163, Paulus talks to Van der Straaten.
Van der Straaten: I pointed out that I was amazed about Joran's
different reactions. One moment crying, the other moment he is more cautious,
as if there are two Joran's.
Paul: It is true that Joran can lie. He has amongst other things been
in therapy for that by a psychiatrist. It was the intention he would
have his final appointment there today. We as parents have been there. We
thought it was going well with Joran, because the exit-meeting would
take place, but also the psychiatrist speaks her worries about that.
Van der Straaten: I ask Paul if he thinks it is respectful to leave a
girl of 18 years old alone on the beach after his son was satisfied.
Paul responds to this: No, for sure not. We as parents cannot agree with
that.
I confront Paul with the proposition that he knows exactly what
happened that night.
Paulus reacts non-verbal surprised and says: It surprises me that you
think that. If I would know I for sure would have informed you. I am
shocked that that is what you think.
I tell Paulus that he must not react that way, since by the first lie
he was also active in calling together a meeting with the other
suspects. Paulus says: It is true that I fully trusted the story of the boys,
and I have been disappointed in that.
(Paulus is asked about the fact that he gave an explanation about the
juridical procedures)
It is true indeed that I explained to them how the procedures of the
Wetboek van Strafvordering is.
On your question if I have said that if there is no body there is no
case I can declare that I might have said something meaning that it is
difficult to suspect someone of a crime when no body is found.
Joran is under treatment of a psychiatrist because he stole money from
us and has lied about that.
If Joran had told me he had killed the girl I would have gone to
justice with him.

Page 166, Joran statement June 16.
June 16, at 8:50 pm I am asked to further clarify a remark I made to
the Judge-Commissaris. I had said earlier that I had done something wrong
and that I was willing to give a statement about that:
What I meant when I spoke with the Judge-Commissaris, is that I made a
mistake by leaving Natalee alone on the beach.
About what I spoke for 8 minutes with Deepak on May 30 2005 at 2:26 am
while using my mobile phone I tell you that I cannot remember.

Page 170, Joran statement.
(when confronted with Deepak's 2:46 sms)
I do not recall which message Deepak sent to me. I don't know why
Deepak has sent me a message. I don't know what Deepak means with that he
will wait till I get home. I don't think I gave Deepak a missed call,
because on May 30 2005 around 3:15 he picked me up at the Fisherman's
Huts. I don't know what Deepak means with that I had to give him a missed
call.

Page 170, Joran statement.

I do not recall if I send Deepak a message. I don't know why I had to
thank Deepak.

Page 171, Joran statement.

I do not recall the date when Deepak, Satish my father and me have
spoken about this.

I did not tell my father what happened to the girl. I told my father
only the first story.
I have never told my father that I left the girl at the Fisherman's
Huts.

Page 171 Joran June 19 statement.
At 5:30 pm, in my 9th statement I state that not Deepak but Satish has
picked me up at the Fisherman's huts.
That explains according to me the sms's to Deepak. Deepak wanted to
keep Satish out of everything, and I did not want to change my statement.

Page 197 Joran July 3 statement (after he was taken to the beach).
I just went with you to the spot where Natalee and me were dropped off
in the night of May 29-May 30 by Deepak and Satish, with Deepak's car.
On your question how late that was on or about, I can tell you the
following, I think it was at 1:50 am. I have been picked up by Satish prior
to 2:50 am.
I just walked the route with you just like Natalee and me have walked
that night. Natalee and me have walked over the beach in the direction
of the Holiday Inn, and finally right in front of the Marriott have lied
down on the beach.
After that we walked in the direction of North, in the direction of the
Fisherman's Huts.
I had left my shoes at the Marriott beach. After that we walked into
the direction of the Fisherman's huts. I had left my shoes at the
Marriott. We laid down at the first from cement made hut. On your question if
we made out there I can state the following, yes masturbation and

I visited Aruba in June 2004. We rented from Budget. We opted to not get the insurance. Well, we were scammed BIG TIME. The car first of all had scratches and nicks all over it. On the day we were leaving the island we took the car back and there was a mark on the side. It was a white "rub" mark. The kind of mark you get when something with paint on it rubs against something else. This was NOT a scratch, dent etc.. It needed a little buffing cream. Anyway, we knew that we didn't put the mark there. Well, the guy came out and barely looked at it and told us the WHOLE car would need repainted!! Ummm...what about all the scratches and nicks on it already? Was it repainted from the last suckers you scammed? They had our credit card info and charged us $500 to have it "repainted"! I told them I wanted pictures and proof that it was indeed repainted. Surprise...never heard from them again. These people know where you are staying. I really believe they send people out to do damage to these cars to rip you off. Also we were robbed while we were diving. Our stuff was taken out of the car. All of my friends money and ID was stolen. I felt so violated and unsafe in Aruba. The only good part was we met a girl from Belgium who works at one of the hospitals as a nurse and we became friends and she came back to the states several times to stay with us. I hope everyone has better luck than we did!

1- The assumption of US publishers is that the public in the US is not interested to read the story of the prime suspect in the case.
2- Publishers fear them publishing the book will result in commotion/negative publicity for them, media, public etc.

Yes, why would vd Straten be making this offer if he thought Joran was innocent.  Obviously, he knows otherwise.  Maybe the Dutch KLPD should be questioning vdStraten under oath before a judge and find out what he really knows.

So true, Sharon.  When I was reading Deepak's account of Joran's window smashing, etc. I was thinking 'why would Joran put this in his book?'  Sure, there are PVs we have not seen, but it didn't make sense that he'd allow such a negative picture of himself.
