Attorneys for Gonzalez and Anthony showed up at the Morgan and Morgan law firm in the Wells Fargo building downtown just before 9 a.m. Tuesday.

During an afternoon break, Anthony's attorney pulled us aside to tell us how the day of questioning was going.

Greene said there wasn't any bombshells or big break throughs in the questioning.

Despite a few breaks, the woman who is suing Anthony for defamation has spent all day answering questions.

Greene said there were some answers he liked and some he didn't.

When asked if he asked Gonzalez if she was being paid to sue Anthony, he wouldn't get into specifics.

Earlier in the day, attorneys on both sides said things were civil and there hadn't been any arguments.

In the middle of questioning, we were able to ask Greene if the deposition was a success.

"The goal is to win this case and we are well on the way," Greene said.

The other night I couldn't get to sleep. All I could see when I closed my eyes was Caylee's lifeless body. And Casey pulling off to the side of the road, popping the trunk, grabbing poor Caylee in the bags, adrenaline pumping, taking a few steps into the woods, dumping her, going back to her car and looking around to make sure no one saw her. Pretty sure that's why Caylee was so close to the road.

Casey is smart. She probably knew that with the weather as long as she could keep her parents at bay for x amount of time, there would be no DNA evidence left.

Breaks my heart. My husband and I are having no luck conceiving our first child, and yet every day so many people just throw their kids away like garbage - and get away with it...  ::MonkeyNoNo::

Although few details about the deposition were available Wednesday, court documents filed earlier this month indicate some of the questions Anthony’s attorneys may have wanted to ask Gonzalez. In addition to demanding more specific information about statements and witnesses that would prove Anthony defamed Gonzalez, they also questioned whether Gonzalez is being paid by her attorneys and asked for details about contributions to the “Zenaida Gonzalez Fund.”

Anthony’s attorneys asked that Gonzalez provide more specific figures for the damages she is seeking in the suit. They also asked for her medical records from January 2007 to the present, including documents related to any treatment by a psychologist or psychiatrist.

Attorneys argued that Gonzalez’s initial responses to these questions and others in their first set of interrogatories were inadequate and that she has the burden of proof in the case so she needs to provide more information as part of the discovery process.


Shouldn't HIPAA laws apply here?  I want to see the killers records, but hers are sealed.  I say tit for tat on this issue.

I would think that if you want to claim psychological damages, you would have to show the diagnosis and treatment.  Anthony's attorney might not be able to disclose the information.  I'm not sure.  A person can always disclose their own medical record.

I haven't read back and as I sit here waiting to go to dinner, I have been reading Ashton's book.  I am on chapter 16 and haven't read anything I didn't already know.  I was hoping there was something we didn't know yet.  However, I give him a huge Kudos writing this on Caylees behalf and would have paid any amount for it.

Guess, I need to go back and catch up on the newest (biotch) news, to find out what is going on in her pending cases.  Lord, I pray she gets something, pays somehow...  Just like Ashton Imperfect Justice, of course, I call it NO JUSTICE. If nothing else, I hope the village idiots read it and feel like sh7t!  There the ones who have to live with it for the rest of there lives.

In any case, Caylee WILL get justice. God is patient!

Hey, monkeys!  Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I am looking forward to reading Zenaida's depo.  I am a little, (okay, a lot,) annoyed that Casey is once again given special treatment, while the victim is (ZG in this case,) being grilled like a cheese sandwich.   I feel precious little Caylee is victimized over and over again, every time Casey is not held accountable for her lies.  I hope she had a miserable Thanksgiving.  I'll bet the Anthonys were thankful she wasn't at their dinner table this year.  Can you imagine what their holiday would be like if she was?

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Clips from a videotaped deposition of a woman who is suing Casey Anthony for defamation were released Friday.

Zenaida Gonzalez spent almost 12 hours answering questions under oath Wednesday. She said she lost her job after Anthony claimed a woman with the same name kidnapped her daughter, Caylee Anthony.

The video clips, about three minutes in all, were released by Gonzalez' attorneys, Morgan & Morgan. The complete video will be available Monday, attorneys said.

In the clips released, Gonzalez explains what she's had to suffer.

On Friday, attorney Matt Morgan release several short portions of the deposition, in which Fernandez-Gonzalez said she wants closure and wants to give her daughters "peace of mind."

In one clip, Fernandez-Gonzalez was asked if she's proceeding with the lawsuit because she's seeking money. Her attorney objected, and she responded by saying, "I'm looking for closure."

An attorney asked Fernandez-Gonzalez about her claims of severe emotional pain and suffering caused by Anthony.

"I've been accused of kidnapping," Fernandez-Gonzalez said. "It hurts 'cause you have to look at your daughter's face and explain to them why you're getting accused of kidnapping a child."

"You have to look at your daughter's face and say, 'I cannot afford to take care of you right now.' That's distressing," Fernandez-Gonzalez said, as she began to choke up.

Anthony was found not guilty of killing Caylee in July, but was convicted of four counts of lying to law-enforcement, and is serving probation for those crimes now in Florida.

During the deposition, Fernandez-Gonzalez was asked if it isn't enough that she was not blamed for Caylee's death during Anthony's first-degree murder trial.

"No. It didn't come out of her mouth," Fernandez-Gonzalez said.

I have assorted back ground in my family, from REALLY NICE to REALLY BAD, but somewhere along the line things change, people take charge and make changes in THEIR life and decide who they are and what they do.  I do not believe that some ancestor along the line made me who I am! I believe that my parents had a lot to do with it, but I still made my own choices.  I believe in this article "they" are trying to find someone to blame. There is only ONE person to BLAME and that is the one that took little Caylee Marie's life. NO ONE else, JUST her mother. As bad as my ancestors were not one thing   could convince me (in my soul) that the best thing I could do is kill my child.  My children have their own problems but I could not hurt one singe hair on their heads  ::MonkeyNoNo::

Hi all,   I too just finished reading the "article" by Keith Ablow.   I am not going to call him a doctor.   I have zero respect for him.

My passion in life is genealogy.   I travel to to other states, I get old newsarticles, I document,   I leave no stone unturned when I am on a mission.   And let me tell you, my lines are so filled with insane asylums for males and females,  murders, murder /suicides, etc.   but it is also filled with hard working, law abiding people.   When a family has thirteen children and  marries into a family with nineteen, well, it can be a free for all.   I have them all from a to z.   And at the age of 56 I can promise you not only have I lived for my children,  I have found many relations that have done the same.   I cry B. S.

Now,  that said, when I saw that the great grandfather was a Stiles, I got a bit nervous.  That is one of my main lines.   We originated in Greenbriar WVa, but relocated to southern Ohio.  I know the Anthonys are from Ohio and that Casey was in Columbus not to far from the area my Stiles family settled, in fact, walking distance for a child. 

My one Stiles left his wife and six children to take up with someone and raise another family.  If it were to turn out we are of the same Stiles line, I can really cry B.S. to Keith Ablow.   In fact, it makes me angry.   

According to the 1930 Akron Ohio census,  Stanley Stiles, his wife, Velma, and one child, Shirley, had been married two years.  Also in the home was Stanley's mother, Adeline.   All born in Ohio.

I am not willing to do a trace on this line...I just do not like them,  but the info is in my mind should I connect it to my line.   

Stanley may have run off to Chicago, but he died in Michigan in 1966.  According to the limited info I have checked, he is not in my immediate line.  Yeah for me!!!

I have a family friend that is an experienced child psychologist working with severely abused children and their families.  He has told me in the past that abuse within a family is seen as 'normal' behavior after existing for 3 generations.  From the discussions I've had with him, I can see what KA is trying to say.  I don't think anyone that followed this case would describe Cindy as 'normal'.  Something in Cindy's life has made her the way she is.  She didn't just wake up in July 2008 and be the woman we've seen her be. 

I don't think KA is saying that everyone with terrible abuse in their family history will turn out like Cindy or KC.  After all, Cindy has brothers.  We've not read that any of them have granddaughters that were triple bagged and dumped around the block.  Not every person that grows up in abuse goes on to abuse.  There are those individuals that come out of a terrible childhood with the determination to give their children what they didn't have.  Some pull themselves up by the bootstraps and learn to love in a healthy manner that leads to fulfilling relationships and happy children.  I think that is what KA was attempting to convey. 

Casey was never abused or mistreated as a child! She was forever the princess and ran the whole household! The reason that she murdered her own child was because she wanted her gone! Those of us who have lived within dysfunctional families have grown up to be fine upstanding people of society who do not murder their childre or anyone else in spite of it all!
I get so tired of hearing that Casey is what she is because of her family. She made her own choices! Grrrrrrrr!

Choices, it all boils down to choices.   She knew right from wrong.   She knew.  So, just like an addict choosing not to use for this hour, she could choose to live according to societal norms and laws.  Sadly, the verdict reinforced her sense of entitlement and grandiousity.

Whoa....not what I was saying at all.  I do believe that parents who raise their children to believe that they are special and the rules don't apply to them, are in fact, abusing those kids.  I've seen this too many times in my experience as a former teacher.  Too many kids come in with the belief that the rules are for every one else.  Get 4 or 5 of these kids in one classroom and its a nightmare for the other children and the teacher.  These kids either grow up believing that all authority figures are out to get them or they become master manipulators of people so that they get what they want no matter the cost to others.  Sounds familiar?  Rarely do these kids grow up enough emotionally to realize that the behavior of their parents is not a healthy way to raise children.  So, in my opinion, these children are abused psychologically.  However, there does come a point where the individual must face responsibility for his/her own actions.  This is where the 'abuse' continues in the next generation or the individual realizes that the behavior of the parent is not something that is desired to be perpetrated.  KC knew right from wrong.  KC *choose* her actions.  She could have raised Caylee differently.  KC decided not to.  Not every person raped by a family member will grow up to rape.  Not every person beaten will grow up to beat.  Not every person psychologically abuse will grow up to mentally abuse someone else.  But it takes a strong person willing to overcome her past to change the curse of abuse.  And there are many strong people out there.  KC just isn't among them.  There is no doubt in my mind that if Caylee were still alive today KC would be manipulating her into getting things from Cindy & G, guys, extended family, and anyone else that had something KC wanted.  Caylee would be living a nightmare as KC's daughter.  Think about it.

I agree with everything you just posted. BBM.....this is why, although it hurts me to think and say this, I have pretty much always felt that Caylee is better off dead than alive.  Her suffering would have been most unbearable had she continued to live. Casey killed Caylee out of spite and hatred, but in doing so, she freed Caylee from a horrific life. moo

Casey Anthony has finally enrolled in classes, as her probation requires, and TMZ has learned her course of choice ... Spanish.

Anthony is required under the terms of her probation to either get a job or go to school. Sources close to C.A. tell TMZ ... she chose to study Spanish because she felt it would come in handy when she goes back to work in Florida.

We're told Casey is taking the classes online, but not though a traditional online college, because of security issues. According to our sources, Anthony is studying through a private organization ... which means her records will be kept under wraps.

She is just learning how to lie in a different language, is all.  What good will learning Spanish do her, when she has no work skills, no education, nothing.   She continues to make a mockery of the court's orders.....and gets away with it.  Let that be a lesson for any future employer, if she were to ever seek employment, and I think that is a far stretch. moo

The bill was drafted with the assistance of the Maricopa County Attorney’s office. HB 2018 requires that a parent, guardian or person who has the care or custody of a minor under six years of age to immediately report the child missing after a 24-hour period.

 “Arizona children need to be protected and if one goes missing it’s vital that police begin the search process before the child is put in danger or their life is at risk,’ said Ugenti. “This bill is a reasonable and enforceable way to protect young children and hold accountable those parents and adults who fail to live up to their responsibilities.”

Former volunteers of the charity planning a memorial to Caylee Anthony said last month that a request for basic tax records led to their ouster. Now, they say that request wasn't fully filled.

Sarasota resident Wally Goodnough requested documents from Bring Kids Home on Oct. 11; a request BKH executive director Eric Segura accepted as his resignation, emails between the two show.

By law, IRS 990 forms and other documents relating to charities must be provided within 30 days upon request. Goodnough said he was provided a 990EZ by email about 1 a.m.Nov. 11 — day 31.

He argues he didn't receive the full request. Segura provided a 990EZ form for 2009, but not 2010. Segura told Goodnough in an email that BKH didn't file one last year.

"[W]hen we found out that a 990EZ was not even required for charities under $50K in revenue we properly notified the IRS we would not be filing a 990EZ in 2010," Segura wrote in an email.

However, the charity did provide a 2010 form to Florida's Department of Agriculture and Consumers Services when it registered as a business operating in the state.

The form, provided to the Sentinel by the state agency, contains little by way of new information. There is an apparent discrepancy; BKH reported $14,000 in contributions, but only $200 in revenue.

Goodnough said the charity also did not provide its application for tax-exempt status, which is a publicly available document, according to the IRS.

Asked why the 2010 document wasn't provided to Goodnough and to clarify the discrepancy on the form, Segura declined to comment and accused the Sentinel of a "smear campaign."

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A woman who is suing Casey Anthony for defamation says she had out-of-state relative calling her and asking if she was a kidnapper at the height of the case.

Zenaida Gonzalez made the statement during a 12-hour deposition. Clips of the deposition were released Friday, but the full deposition was filed with the court Monday.

Gonzalez says her reputation was ruined when Anthony said a woman by the same name had kidnapped her daughter, Caylee Anthony.

"Everywhere I go, if somebody knows about the case and they see my face, they know it's me," she said.

Under questioning about her past, Gonzalez acknowledged reaching a plea deal on a criminal charge of selling alcohol to a minor and that she has been investigated by the Department of Children and Families twice for suspected child neglect.

She said, both times, the case was closed for lack of findings.

Anthony's attorneys claim Gonzalez's personal and criminal background is relevant, because they claim Gonzalez already had a poor reputation before she became embroiled in the Anthony case.

They said Gonzalez was on welfare both before and after Anthony's claim.

Gonzalez said she left her job last summer and home where she'd been staying voluntarily because people harassed her and not because she was kicked out.

Anthony's attorneys pointed out that Gonzalez chose to reveal her identity by going on television. She said she had to prove she was innocent.

"Casey never said, 'Zenaida Gonzalez didn't do it,' or 'That's not that Zenaida Gonzalez.' She never said that to me," Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said Anthony's attorneys turned the table, assassinating her character by asking her to show her tattoos, revealing Gonzalez had her first daughter in seventh grade and that her six children have three different fathers.

Gonzalez also admitted that she's married but engaged and living with a 21-year-old man.

"You're engaged even though you're married to Mr. Esparza?" asked an Anthony attorney.

"Yes, I'm not going to get married until I get divorced," replied Gonzalez.

Gonzalez denied that she has been paid by Morgan and Morgan, the law firm representing her. She said she did receive $900 from a trust fund that was set up for her.

The lawsuit is scheduled for trial in April.

It's the same old song that's been playing throughout this case. Somehow, if everybody else is villianized, it makes Casey innocent. KC killed Caylee, but maybe KC was sexually abused. KC killed Caylee, but maybe George had an affair. KC accused ZG, but ZG isn't a model citizen.

• have some tattoos, but none of them were gotten while her daughter was missing - "kidnapped" - "accidentally drowned"-decomposing in a swamp around the corner from her house and her mother partied-unlike your client.  None of them were paid for with stolen money-unlike your client's.
• have given birth to a child while in seventh grade and have six children by three different fathers, but at least those children are alive and well-unlike your client's one child. Ms. Gonzalez has never led Law Enforcement, Texas Equisearch, and hundreds of volunteer searchers on a wild goose chase for a "kidnapped"murdered child- unlike your client.  Moreover, Ms. Gonzales knows who fathered her children- unlike your client.
• have been married and is currently engaged to and living with another man, but she didn't try to implicate any of her boyfriends (or anyone else) in a missing murdered child case- unlike your client.  Nor are there numerous pictures of sexually-themed exploits- unlike your client's.
• currently be on welfare, but she's not a convicted felon on probation-unlike your client.  She hasn't cost the state of Florida hundreds of thousands of dollars and wasted massive amounts of Law Enforcement resources- unlike your client.

DAYTONA BEACH -- The fact that Casey Anthony gained an acquittal in her highly publicized murder trial was "like a blind man that stumbled on a pot of gold."

"It's stupid, but it happens," Jeff Ashton told a packed crowd of supporters Tuesday during a book signing at the DeLand Regional Library.

He also confirmed in the book that Anthony's lawyers tried to get her to accept a plea deal that would have sent Anthony to prison -- but she refused.

The book, 322 pages for $26.99, focuses on the defense efforts to get Anthony acquitted. Ashton sold 50 books in DeLand.

Ashton, like many who came to hear him speak, continues to believe Caylee didn't die "as the result of an accident."

Fielding questions for about an hour Tuesday, Ashton was often critical of both Baez and Anthony.

"We thought that you did a marvelous job," Jim Elmore, 86, of DeLand said to Ashton. "Did you ever see anyone who could lie like (Anthony) does?"

"No," Ashton answered. "She is amazing. If it wasn't such an evil talent, I would even admire her."

The crowd cheered.

"I've never seen anyone as talented as she is," Ashton added. "If she ever writes a book, it should be fiction."

Even though he respects the work of defense lawyers, Ashton said he would never have defended Anthony.

"I wouldn't do it," he said.

I liked watching Joy until the Casey trial - then she started reporting on her too, instead of having a light hearted program with interesting guests it turned into another analysis of the murdering b***h, which Joy was not good at, and from what I watched her 'expert' guests didn't know much about it either. By 10pm I was tired of Casey stories - HLN covered it on  Nancy Grace, then Dr Drew and by that time of the night I wanted to watch something more relaxing,not something that made me angry to watch!
It was HLN policy that killed the show, not Joy.l

 Casey Anthony's civil attorneys say you can't clean up mud with mud.

Charles Greene is mad, and he's taking it out on the woman suing Anthony for defamation.

After Zenaida Gonzalez's attorneys released selected clips of her 10-hour deposition last week, Greene said he wants everyone to know the real Gonzalez.

Greene said this defamation case is all about reputation.

"You can't fix what is broken beyond repair already anyway," Greene said.

He said the Kissimmee woman with the same name as an alleged kidnapper has a bad reputation and a shady past.

"What she’s done in  the past is live off the government dole, never had a real job, never even had a bank account, bounced from place to place person to person. Sad situation to sad situation,” Greene said.

They are also planning on showing pictures from Gonzalez’s MySpace account.

We were told those pictures are suggestive and show a half-naked Gonzalez. While they were on the Internet for anyone to see, they've since been removed.

Greene would not share them with us.

“Casey Anthony is not responsible for where she's at,” Greene said. “Zenaida Gonzalez is in the same spot she's always been. It’s sad but it’s nobody’s fault but her own.”

How did Gonzalez’s lawyers react? “I find it ironic Casey Anthony’s attorneys would attack our client’s reputation. We look forward to settling this matter with a jury,” John Dill said in a statement.

Anthony is serving a year’s probation somewhere in Florida for check fraud. In July, she was acquitted of murder in the 2008 death of her daughter. But she was convicted of lying to law enforcement.

Greene elaborated on how Gonzalez’s reputation is broken beyond repair: “What she’s done in the past is live off the government dole. Never had a real job. Never even had a bank account. Bounced from place to place, person to person. Sad situation, a sad situation.”

Fell listed Greene’s other criticisms of Gonzalez: “He calls Gonzalez out for being a 10th-grade dropout and having her first baby in the seventh grade. He says she’s got six children from three different fathers. He says she’s just looking for money.”

Anthony’s attorneys also plan to draw on photos from Gonzalez’s MySpace page, Fell reported. “We’re told those pictures are suggestive and show a half-naked Gonzalez,” Fell said. “They’ve since been removed, and Greene wouldn’t share them with us.”

The report’s revelation: Anthony’s attorneys play hardball. They took a bat to Gonzalez on News 13. How will Gonzalez and her team fight back?

I think that Z will end up losing this case. sadly..Casey will prevail yet again. jmo...

If someone came to my home asking me if I knew a kidnapped child and her mother of which I never met, along with searching my home for the child, and I found out that the name she made up was my name and that I had visited the very apartments she claimed the kidnapper lived in, along with driving there in a car with plates from a state she claimed the kidnapper was from, etc... I'd be really pissed off. I would feel somewhat violated. I don't know about Z, but someone playing with a name that happens to be mine with her added lies that can in no way be coincidence... I would be so pissed. But... top it off with kc telling her mother during a jail visit that she can tell the media that the "girl in Kissimmee" isn't cleared... and she not clear my name for three years, holding onto her stupid made up story just in case she needs to find something she can use to save her sorry butt... her @ss would be grass and I'd be the lawnmower.

I don't care about Z's past. None of it matters. That monster played with someone's name, and if she could have, she would have hung a death sentence onto Z for Caylee's death. Kc hung onto that story for three years just in case they maybe could find some way to either pin some doubt onto Z or some other sick crap she does to try to get herself out the trouble she constantly puts her own self into. She wouldn't clear Z. She still won't. She may still need the lies she told, plus, in kc's mind, no one ever calls her a liar or that she ever does a thing wrong...ever. Kc did what she did knowingly, and with her usual evil intent and she'll do it again if she wants to.

Sorry for the rant. I'm still just as pissed as I was in July. Poor Caylee.

Bless his heart!  It will never end with Casey.....he's got that right.  Attorney's can't follow the way things are to be done.....why does that not surprise us?   I do love how he continually called Dale the suspect.   Just like he knew Casey was responsible, I feel he thinks the same of Dale.

Casey Anthony is still unemployed, isn't drinking alcohol or using drugs and is "taking time to relax," according to a report from her monthy probation check in released today.

Corrections officials say Anthony met with her probation officer about 8 a.m. on Thursday, her fourth such monthly meeting since beginning a year's probation term.

Officials still won't say where Anthony, 25, is living in Florida or where she meets with her probation officer. However, they say no probation violations have been noted.

Florida Department of Corrections officials said in a statement Friday that Anthony is not currently employed or participating in any educational or vocational programs.

Officials also released a redacted copy of her monthly check-in form. On it, Anthony's probation officer noted no violations, and wrote that Anthony is "[t]aking time to relax."

For the second month in a row, the check-in form released Friday by the DOC seems to indicate that Anthony may be participating in therapy of some kind.

Anthony again checked a box on her probation form indicating that she is attending "educational, vocational… mental health, drug, alcohol, therapy or self-improvement" classes.

The form says to circle "which one," but no circle appears on the copy released Friday. However, the word "therapy," and the area around it, were redacted from that report.

A DOC spokesman said last month the redaction was due to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, which limits public access to personal medical information.

I now own an official personalized, autographed copy of Imperfect Justice Prosecuting Casey Anthony!  Tonight was great!  Jeff is an awesome man. He is so down to earth, has a super sense of humor, so frank and honest. He made us all feel so comfortable.  Just a great man.

It was a pretty good turnout, I estimate around 200 -250, but don't know for sure, it could have been more. Lots of 50 -65 year olds, which kind of surprised me. Not sure why, since I fall into that category. LOL 

From start to when I got my book signed was about 1 1/2 hours.  He started by saying this was not about him...it was to honor Caylee.  He was so sincere that tears welled up in my eyes. This case for him, LDB and FG was purely for Caylee, you can tell by the way he talks about it.  He took lots of questions and gave his opinion, when called for and gave facts when called for.  I guess many had not read his book yet, but did follow the trial, so many of the questions, I already knew the answers to. But to hear him explain the answers, along with his facial expressions, it was worth hearing what he had to say all over again.

I asked him about Casey's journal....the June 21 entry..I have no regrets....why didn't they use that in trial?  This has bothered me for awhile now. He said they studied that journal for some time and after checking what they felt was everything to check out on that.....it was written when she was a teen, they even figured out who she was talking about, some guy, which he didn't name. He said although one could make it fit to Caylee's death, that was not the case.

Someone asked if he knew who was paying to put up Casey now.  He said, I have no idea, and I don't really care!

He talked about the "some kind of denial" Cindy was in.....all the time shaking his head back and forth. He said that if Lee had been asked if he molested Casey, Lee would have said yes. Lee surprised him the most of the Anthony's. He would have done anything to make the prosecutors look like fools.

Another question was about lawyers lying in court, what could/should happen to them as Baez clearly lied.  He said that could range from being fined, sanctions brought up against them, to being disbarred.  Baez currently has sanctions against him.

He said he regrets his snickering at Baez during his closing arguments, and he means it. I feel he is really embarrassed by that. He said that Baez was giving a ridiculous story and then his voice went up an octave, like Mickey Mouse, and the snickers just came out. We all assured him it was okay, but he doesn't accept that. I'm sure it stems from not being the professional attorney that he is, he knew better.

He was asked who would have cross examined Casey had she taken the stand....him or Linda.  He says,...Ladies first. lol  He said they discussed that at length also and decided it would be Linda. He said she is the best ever at cross examining, much better than himself. They also thought that if he was the one, the jury might somehow associate Jeff with George and that would be a losing battle from the beginning.

Oh, and all the while the jurors were deliberating, all evidence was in the room with them. He really has no idea if any of it was looked at by them. He said it did appear that they followed the trial closely, few notes were taken, but he doesn't take notes either. He said this jury needed more than what was presented in court as this was a circumstantial evidence case. They wanted concrete evidence and the State didn't have it.  He can't figure out why they didn't at least go for child abuse, the lesser charge for aggravated child abuse, due to her not reporting Caylee missing for 31 days. He just shakes his head when talking about the jury, right along with many of us in the audience.  He said jurors are instructed on the laws of finding someone guilty, but in the end....the jurors just do whatever they want to do.

Here's the one thing I completely disagree with Jeff on.....He feels that Casey killed Caylee out of love. That she didn't want Caylee to have to be with Cindy and George. That is why Caylee was sedated with chloroform before Casey applied the duct tape to smother her. The heart sticker was a kiss goodbye and then Casey wrapped Caylee in her favorite baby blanket, all signs of love. He has seen these actions in many other cases.   I tell you, I had to bite my tongue when he said that....my head may have very well been shaking back and forth.  But, if that is what Jeff wants to believe, so be it. He's entitled to his opinion, just like I am and you are.

I'm so glad I went, not just for the autographed book, but to be able to thank Jeff in person, with extended thanks to Linda and Frank. He was very gracious and thanked me for my support and said it was appreciated, along with that wonderful Jeff Ashton smile.

Thanks so much for asking him about the journal entry! That has bothered me for so long. I think he's right about Lee but like you, I think he's wrong about kc's motives for murdering sweet Caylee. She was sick and tired of Caylee and plus the toddler was talking better and better. I think she was so jealous of Caylee too. The look on that monster's face when they talked about her little playhouse says so much along with so many other slip ups she said...like how CA talked about Caylee liking bagels and she pipes up with her hey, I like them too remember...what about me?!

My mom had planned to go to the book signing in St. Pete but she broke her leg the day before. She ended up back in the hospital the following day for vomiting/dehydration. The pain meds made her sick.

My mom & I both have the book on our Kindles but she was going to buy the hard copy & get it signed for me......aahhh, a mother's love is so sweet.....something KC knew nothing about. Poor Caylee, never had a chance for KC. I do blame Cindy for some of KC's flaws, but KC chose to kill Caylee, not Cindy.....and I agree with you, KC did NOT kill Caylee because she loved her. There were a few things in Jeff's book I didn't agree with, but like you said, he's entitled to his opinion, just as all of us.

An employee of B&N said that they cancelled the St. Pete book signing as that store was too small and moved it to Clearwater. Jeff most likely wanted it to be in St. Pete as that is where is from, and still has family there.  His mom and 3 sisters were there last night, along with their spouses. One sister even asked questions and gave her opinions. Jeff said that he is used to her monopolizing conversations and there is nothing he can do about it.  LOL

I just remembered another question that was asked last night.....Do you think Casey acted alone or did she have help?  Jeff.....Not to sound sexist, but if a man had been involved, he would have buried Caylee. Casey is lazy, all she did was walk about 20 feet and dropped Caylee behind a tree.

Unfortunately, I feel in my heart that the "Pinellas 12" treated Caylee the very same way as the killer did.  They took the easy way and gave no thought to the worth and value of a child's life.  They tossed her out and were glad to be done with it.  (JMO)

Just finished Jeff's book. The book brought out an array of emotions. I felt anger, sorrow, at times felt nauseated, and still other times I even laughed. But at the end all I could feel was sadness as tears welled in my eyes. "We just couldn't make them care more." It made me realize the jurors weren't stupid, they weren't lazy. They just didn't care enough about a murdered 3 yo little girl. Caylee was abandoned by all the people who were suppose to care. Thank you Jeff, Linda, Frank and everyone else who does!

I really can't believe that the civil attys are playing such games.  Morgan & Morgan need to come out playing hardball.  Can't anyone exact justice on Casey'O Marie???????

Very touching comment.  I know you are right about the extent of the public that feels the same.

::MonkeyNoNo::  The depth of the injustice makes it hard to "move on," though I admire Mr. Ashton's attempts to give Caylee's supporters some measure of closure and/or peace of mind.  The magnitude of this miscarriage of justice -- the travesty -- along with the "smarmy" defense and a bizarrely dysfunctional family who utterly abandoned Caylee -- makes it almost impossible for many people to get past the shock of what happened. 

For comfort, I think of karma.  I think of the justice of the almighty.  I think of the jurors having to live with themselves and their decision.  I think of the thousands of people who love and cherish Caylee's memory.  I think of KC being haunted and hunted the rest of her life, living with her black soul.  I think of the "OJ curse."  I think of the A's and their foulness being exposed for all the world to see.  I think of the new laws being passed in Caylee's name, which may protect other little ones in the future.  Thank God for Jeff and the rest of the State's team.  Thank God for Yuri and John Allen and Scott Bolin and Dr. Vass and Dr. G, etc... The good guys who don't always win, but are always working for the right cause.

It all helps a little.  But honestly, at the end of the day, Caylee still got robbed and KC still got away with murder and worse.  And that somehow doesn't ever stop hurting.

Although I didn't actually join the forum and all you Monkeys in the beginning of Caylee's case, I always read here, every day. I had to join because you Monkeys share everything! all the time! Monkeys sleuthing skills blow me away!, the constant media updates, links to videos, live feeds and discovery documents, the thought provoking conversations, the legalese, fantastic and endearing artwork, the love that is shown for our Caylee....we share all of this, and more, with each other, daily. I just finished listening to this interview, a lot of it is the same as at the book signing!  But I got more info from this one. I had remembered about the Going to Caylee's site with the jurors part last night. He talks about it here. But the other night he also said that they didn't want to take the jurors to the Anthony home either, to show the jurors that Caylee couldn't have reached the locks to get out, because 1. that would have put the Anthonys in control and 2. they could have staged the home in various ways to show how much Casey loved Caylee.  In both cases, the swamp and the home....nothing was the same as it was when it happened.

The plaintiffs in two pending lawsuits against Casey Anthony may be teaming up in the hopes of compelling her to answer questions about the death of her daughter, Caylee Marie.

The director of Texas EquuSearch, the noted search and recovery group, said on Saturday he has filed a motion to intervene in the lawsuit brought by Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez.

Fernandez-Gonzalez claims Anthony ruined her reputation in 2008, when she told Orange County sheriff's detectives a babysitter with the same name kidnapped her 2-year-old daughter.

During a recent deposition, Anthony declined to answer many questions by asserting her 5th Amendment rights. Fernandez-Gonzalez's attorneys have filed a motion to compel her to answer.

Now EquuSearch director Tim Miller, who is also suing Anthony, wants to file a brief in support of that motion. EquuSearch's motion to intervene will be heard Monday morning, Miller said.

Regarding all the claims being made against Casey Anthony for searches made for a missing child when she knew Caylee was dead: She doesn't have two dimes to rub together, and the chances of them collecting are sure to be slim to none.

Why not go after her attorney, Jose Baez? From the first day Casey walked into his office, he also had to know that Caylee was not a missing child but in fact dead, and maybe even knew where the body was dumped.

He kept that secret for years and never notified anyone. He instead waited for his opening argument statements at her trial.

A judge could decide this week if Casey Anthony will have to answer questions under oath.

The young mother was acquitted of murder charges in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

Anthony now face two different civil lawsuits.

The people behind the suits are demanding answers from Anthony.

The hearing is set for Thursday in the case being brought by Zenaida Gonzalez.

There's also a short hearing scheduled for first thing Monday morning.

That's because the other group suing Casey Anthony, Texas Equusearch, also wants to have a voice in that Thursday court battle.

Judge Lisa Munyon will let the lawyers debate that.

When Equusearch President Tim Miller stepped off a plane in Orlando this past Thursday to assist with the Michelle Parker case, he was slapped with a subpoena to appear for a deposition in the Equusearch civil case.

Texas Equusearch to ask judge to join civil suit against Casey
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —

The plaintiffs in two lawsuits against Casey Anthony want to team up to get her to answer questions.

Texas Equusearch will ask a judge to allow it to join the Zenaida Gonzalez case on Monday.

The search-and-rescue organization filed a motion to intervene in the lawsuit last week.

A judge could rule as early as Thursday on a now joint motion from both of Casey's civil lawsuits.

Casey is also appealing her four convictions of lying to law enforcement, and that could have a big impact on the judge's decision Thursday, because anything she does say in a civil deposition can be used against her in the criminal appeal.

TES was allowed to intervene in the Gonzalez case only to file the "amicus brief" supporting the position that Anthony provide full answers.

"It is in our client's interest that she [Anthony] follow the rules of the law as it relates to civil procedures and the discovery rules and to answer questions as it relates to different information that we seek in order to prove our case," said TES attorney Jonathan Burns.

Anthony's legal team opposed the filing of the so-called "amicus brief."

Gonzalez attorney Matt Morgan, meanwhile, welcomed the filing.

A hearing on Gonzalez's motion to compel Anthony's full testimony at deposition is scheduled for Thursday, also in front of Judge Munyon.

Both Texas Equusearch and Gonzalez want Anthony to answer questions under oath in separate civil suits. Texas Equusearch is suing Anthony to recover costs for searching for Anthony's daughter. Gonzalez is suing Anthony because she says her reputation was damaged by Anthony's lies about a fictional baby sitter with the same name who supposedly kidnapped Caylee.

The little's girl's remains were found in woods near the Anthony family home in December 2008.

Anthony was acquitted of murder in connection to her daughter's death in July. Although she never testified, Anthony's lead defense attorney Jose Baez said in his opening that Caylee Anthony died in a drowning in the family pool.

This account differed dramatically from the stories Anthony told family members and law enforcement when her daughter's disappearance was initially discovered in mid-July 2008. She never mentioned the drowning. She claimed a nanny named Zenaida Gonzalez abducted the child, triggering massive searches for Caylee, including those conducted by TES.

Unfortunately, he is able to hide behind the atty/client relationship.  Had Baez been an upstanding, moral, ethical person, he would have stepped away.....instead, he saw notoriety and money, not necessarily in that order, and he made his choice.

The Casey Anthony trial and the intrigue surrounding it was one of the most searched stories online this year. But one magazine says there was too much coverage.

Time magazine ranked the Casey Anthony case the number one overreported story of 2011. The case and the trial was a perfect storm -- taking place in the summer, when media groups are itching for sensational stories.

Attorneys for Casey Anthony and Zenaida Gonzalez are gearing up for their latest legal battle in court on Thursday.

The legal teams are scheduled to argue the issue of whether Anthony should be made to fully answer questions during a deposition. Thursday's hearing is part of the civil defamation lawsuit Gonzalez filed against Anthony.

Ultimately, Circuit Judge Lisa T. Munyon will determine whether Anthony must answer questions posed by the opposing side.

During her Oct. 8, deposition, Anthony, 25, repeatedly invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination through her civil attorney Charles Greene. Her team says her ongoing appeal of convictions for lying to law enforcement allows her to claim the Fifth.

On another Casey Anthony front, the state Justice Administrative Commission confirmed that Anthony's criminal defense team billed the state $219,693.81 since she was declared indigent in March 2010. Of that amount, the state has paid $176,255.58 for her criminal defense, according to the JAC numbers.

That's a payout of roughly 80 percent of her defense's total billings. The billings not paid out were either rejected, reflected duplicate billings or lacked supporting documentation, a JAC spokeswoman said.

In late July, soon after her first-degree murder trial was over, the defense had billed $147,018 for things like expert witnesses, mental-health evaluations and court-reporting services. At that time, the state had paid out $118,847 of those expenses

Since that time, in the months after the sensational trial, the state has paid out an additional $57,408.58 for Anthony's criminal defense.

Attorneys for Gonzalez have had little success getting Casey to talk. She refused to answer most questions at the last deposition. The video taped session that has not been released publicly yet.

Gonzalez was not so elusive in her deposition though, as Casey's attorneys tried to paint her as someone trying to capitalize on the case's notoriety.

"She doesn't have the same name, not the same age, not the same height," said Casey's attorney Charles Green.

"My name is Zenaida Gonzalez. My name is not Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez. I never said my name was Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez."

But Gonzalez's attorneys have long argued that Casey is getting special treatment and they hope the judge will put an end to that.

"There's one hot seat going to be here, and it's going to be on Casey Anthony when she answers the questions," said Gonzalez's attorney Keith Mitnik.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m.

A court hearing in a civil lawsuit filed against Casey Anthony was held Thursday in Orange County.

Zenaida Gonzalez, who shares the same name as a fictitious baby sitter that Anthony claimed kidnapped her daughter in 2008, is suing Anthony for defamation.

Gonzalez claims Anthony ruined her reputation and caused her to lose her job and home.

During the hearing, Gonzalez's attorney John Dill said Casey's criminal attorney Jose Baez admitted that Casey lied about Zenaida Gonzalez during the criminal trial. Dill said according to judicial estoppel, Casey Anthony cannot take the position that she lied in the criminal trial, but then not take the same position in the civil trial.

Dill also showed a clip from one of the jailhouse visits between Casey and her mother Cindy Anthony, in which Casey told her mother that she was never even shown a picture of Zenaida Gonzalez to confirm that she was the woman. According to the original sheriff's office report, however, Anthony was shown a picture of their client.

Dill said the problem is not Casey's original claim that a woman named Zenaida Gonzalez took Caylee. The problem is she continued to perpetuate the statement by lying to her mother.

After the hearing, Casey's civil attorney Charles Greene told reporters that she is appealing her convictions for lying to law enforcement officers, and that is intertwined with Gonzalez's lawsuit. That is why she is allowed to use the Fifth Amendment.

Greene said if Gonzalez's attorneys couldn't prove their case without Casey's deposition, they shouldn't have sued in the first place. Greene also would not tell reporters the basis of Casey's appeal on the criminal convictions.

Texas EquuSearch attorney Mark Wites was present at Thursday's hearing as an *******. The group filed its own lawsuit against Casey after her lawyers said during her murder trial that she knew Caylee was dead the whole time.

Wites will represent EquuSearch during a hearing to plead their case on Dec. 19.

Thanks for the warning. I read the headline, passed on by, but was going to go back to read it.  Now I won't have to.

I don't think Casey's attorney know what their basis for appeal is either. lol  This is all taking place to thwart the civil cases against her, imo.  Greene says that it's important to appeal these charges in hopes of having her record for lying removed.  In case she gets in trouble in the future, these 4 counts will go against her during sentencing, black marks so to speak.  Well, she already has her check fraud black marks anyway.  She's a criminal, one who got away with murder, but that isn't good enough for her.  She doesn't want to be held accountable for any of her actions.  I'm looking forward to the next time she thinks she can get away with her actions.

Anthony's attorneys said the Fifth Amendment does apply because if there's any chance that her testimony could affect her appeal, the Fifth Amendment states she doesn't have to do it.

"She's already basically admitted through her lawyers in the case that she lied to the police. I mean that was essentially the theme of the case, so how does now answering questions about why you were talking about our client, Zenaida Gonzalez, the girl in Kissimmee she talked about, how does that impact her appeal?" attorney John Dill said.

"The fact of the matter is that this plaintiff, Zenaida Gonzalez, is not Zanny the nanny, no matter how badly she wants to be," attorney Charles Greene said. "A lawsuit involves a search for the truth. The truth is Zenaida Gonzalez is a money-grubbing plaintiff who likes to see herself on TV."

Munyon said she'll make her decision by the end of the year.

Greene is such an azzhat!  He accuses others of being what Casey is. I guess spending time with her has rubbed off on him.  Such a little man.  There is no reason to belittle others.....except when you know you don't have a case.  Sad thing is, Baez did the same and look what happened! If this ever does go to trial, I have faith in the Orange County residents to see the truth and come back ruling in favor of ZG.  Being a civil case, there is no way this trial will be moved.  Casey will have to face her true peers on this one.....and on the TES case as well.

Anthony's attorney Andrew Chmelir argued that she should not have to answer questions about the case while her conviction for lying to the police was being appealed.

Gonzalez's attorney John Dill pointed out that Anthony's attorney Jose Baez acknowledged that Anthony lied to police during her murder trial.

"How long is she going to get the benefit of the doubt on these rulings?" Dill asked Munyon, according to the Sentinel. "All we want is more complete answers to these questions."

John Morgan, also an attorney for Gonzales, previously said that Anthony's use of his client's name left "a scar on her life and on her soul probably until the day she dies."

Neither Anthony nor Gonzalez were in court Thursday.

Well...she did get four measly years for lying to police... sigh. But she spent it with a nice allowance most of the time... and protection from GP and everyone who hates her on the outside. Wasn't much of a punishment. No where near enough considering it was about where her child was!  ::boxingcasey2::

I have looked on CNN, which is where we saw the live broadcast of Thursday's hearing, and I can't find a video of it. I don't think any local media covered it, most likely due to Michelle Parker's case. HLN also covered it, maybe it is there on video, but I'm not sure they have videos.

Then I went to youtube to look for Cindy's video of repeating Casey's lie about Zenaida....couldn't find that either.  It was live coverage and don't remember who covered that. It may be possible that it has been removed since Morgan and Morgan are using it for their case, IDK.

Maybe you could go to the Caylee archives here on SM, look from the beginning of the case, to see if it was posted here at the time it was released. It had to have been in July or August 2008.   Good Luck!

All I know is that the day he was taken to the hospital, he asked the media to not report on him.  So they aren't!  Don't know if he is still in the hospital, home, back to work, nothing.  No obituary tho.

Three years ago today, the skeletal remains of Caylee Anthony were found.

It was a traumatic day, one that crushed hopes that the 2-year-old might be found alive.

The public came to know the toddler through video and photos, which her family licensed to news organizations.

She was an adorable child, but I believe her bones are the main reason she lingers in the public consciousness as few victims do.

Caylee became a symbol. No child should be treated this way, dumped like trash in the woods.

Her mother would later be acquitted of murder in the child’s death.

But the bones can’t be ignored or forgotten. What exactly happened to this child?

We may never know, but the discovery of her body forces us to keep asking.

Agreed, Desi that's absolutely beautiful. I don't know how many of you follow a blog/website called "The Beauty of Karma", but there's sooooo many excellent points made about how and why the 12 village idiots returned that unbelievable not guilty on all counts verdict. The hows and whys are clearing defined, from the foreman's own mother being an avid follower of the case and firm believe GA was responsible, to each jurors' reason for this travesty of justice. I'm mentioning this because, I really believe in the jury tampering, and wonder, how would we get someone to investigate if any and how much money has been deposited in each jurors account? The wealthy guy from Texas? I think could have easily paid the "killer team" (defense) to buy off the jurors imho. I can't get rid of that pic of Bozo on his way to the verdict reading and in the hall points and shoots, he's soooo happy, like he already knew the outcome. Any lawyer, anywhere says you never know what a jury will do, except Baez. In this case he KNEW and was so happy. Okay Monkeys tonight Barbara Walters is having her special  I heard her last guest is going to someone that would mostly likely upset some people. So I am wondering is it Baez or Casey.  I am thinking Baez. I don't think it's Casey. But one never knows as many times has she has meant with Baez. I won't be watching. But thought I would pass on what I heard.

Cookie it was Amanda Knotts parents. Just the way she spoke made me think it was going to be Baez. So glad it wasn't.  Hubs was flipping channels and it showed Barbara talking about AK parents and her. I remember all the dinner meetings Barbara and Baez had. grrrrrrr

I don't remember the name, but I was thinking the same as you.  He had said that he did meet with her and she basically walked in and said, Where's the money.   He said something along the lines that he had a contract and if she didn't follow through, he would sue her. Casey told him to get in line.

Pariah mom Casey Anthony is ready to resurface, but she wants up to $750,000 to deny killing her daughter on TV.

A Los Angeles-based producer has been shopping around the first interview with Anthony since her shocking July acquittal in the slaying of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Pitched as a no-holds-barred interview with the nationally scorned Anthony, Scott Sternberg Production has, so far, found no takers, the Tinseltown web site revealed.

The production company is asking between $500,000 and $750,000 and is insisting it co-produce the talk show. But it would allow the winning bidder to pick its own interviewer, the web site reported.

“It will get very good ratings,” one cable source told the web site. “But who would want to put their ads in that kind of show?”

I have a feeling these articles are being released to see if the public is still hating CMA.  They just don't get it, do they.  Casey will never be accepted within our society....NEVER. Time will never heal this pain we feel for Caylee.

Is this the reason that the killer is now relaxing????  She needs to spend the rest of her life looking over her shoulder to see if someone is coming after her with a roll of duct tape, imo.

My thoughts on this is bozo is getting tired of supporting her and feels the need to try and push some buttons to try to make some money. Good luck with that clown man! I look forward to when she burns the rest of her bridges and gets put out and made to support herself.

Spokespeople for Discovery Communications' TLC and ID confirm that they have passed on the project. A&E Networks, which includes Lifetime and A&E, has also passed. The major three networks, ABC, NBC and CBS have all passed on a paid interview, and sources for MSNBC and HLN say they won't pay either should they be approached.

Seems fame has a price, but infamy is price ... less.

TRENTON — Failing to report the death or disappearance of a child would become a felony under a bill passed by the Assembly today.

The bill (A4297), called “Caylee’s Law,” was inspired by the death of Caylee Anthony, a Florida case that made national headlines. Caylee was missing for 31 days before her grandmother reported it. Her mother, Casey, was found not guilty of her murder.

It passed 69-0 and is scheduled for a Senate vote later today.
