I signed up for this service awhile ago and recieve automatic updates of sex offenders moving in and out of my area.  It provides photo, convictions, address of home and/or work in your area.   It is free, but they also provide a service for only $24/yr, with additional features.  They also provide links to other services that are helpful to families with kids.

Take advantage of this free service!  The safety of a family member could depend on it.

I do not have children at home any longer, but keep track of what is happening on our list here.  What features are available beyond the obvious.

Within the past 6 months there have been a number of communities that have created new ordinances regarding residence requirements.  They are all beginning to change the distance a sexual predator can live from a school, park, church or any place children congregate to 2,000 feet.  Now that is as a straight line is drawn and not how you would walk down a street.  Most communities have reduced the area predators can possibly live down to less than 10% within a particular city or town limits.

We have very small communities, but a great number of parks, school and church's.  More and more townships are doing the same thing as each community changes.  About the only place a registered sex offender will be able to live soon will be in rural areas.  

This change definately has pros and cons.
