I would love the chance to catch this bas**** and do the same to him.
"Here's a video recently uploaded to YouTube, showing a man whip his disabled daughter with a belt, apparently for downloading games and music. The man is William Adams, a Texas court-at-law judge. And his daughter—his victim—recorded and uploaded the video."

   Facebook Page Created to Stop Judge William Adams' Re-Election

The reason behind the leather belt beating was simple: Judge Adams caught his teenage daughter downloading videos and games illegally from the Internet. Now, reasonable people would have simply taken away Internet privileges or grounded her. Not so, Judge Adams. In the 7-plus-minute video, he can be seen repeatedly hitting her with the belt, threatening to strike her across the face with it, and even forces his now-ex-wife to get in a few licks.

Police probe alleged Texas judge beating video
November 2, 2011

ROCKPORT, Texas — Police are investigating an online video that the person who posted it claims shows a Texas judge beating his teenage daughter.

Rockport, Texas, Police Chief Tim Jayroe (JAY'-roh) said Wednesday that calls from people who saw the video prompted the investigation.

The video allegedly shows a man spanking his teenage daughter with a belt in a seven-minute ordeal. The person who posted the video claims to be the daughter of Aransas (uh-RAN'-zuhs) County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams and says it was filmed in 2004. It was posted on YouTube last week.

Jayroe says he has not determined the identities of the people in the video nor whether any crimes were committed.

Judge Under Investigation for Disturbing Video
November 2, 2011

 ::snipping2::
County attorney Richard Bianchi confirmed to the San Antonio Express-News that the individual in the video is Judge Adams. The child was reportedly being punished for using the Internet without permission.

“Obviously it is a very disturbing video,” he told the newspaper. “We in my office as well as everyone on Earth is taking a look at it at this time.”

Judge Adams expressed remorse to KXTV – and said his conduct in the video was “not as bad as it looks on tape.”

“It happened years ago,” he told the Texas television station. “I apologized.

The video was believed to have been shot in 2004 – but was posted Tuesday on YouTube – by someone identifying themselves as Adams’ disabled daughter. The graphic video shows the child being whipped with a belt as the man curses.

“It’s disturbing,” County Judge C.H. Mills, Jr. told Fox News.

Mills said he’s talked to his colleague and said “he’s pretty upset.”

“I’m not at liberty to tell you what our conversation was about because the county attorney told me I shouldn’t,” Mills said.

The Texas Dept. of Public Safety confirmed to Fox News that they’ve been asked to assist the Rockford Police Dept. as they investigate the video.

But at this point it’s unclear what – if any crime has been committed – and whether or not there’s a statute of limitations.

The video has caused turmoil in this tiny community about 30 miles north of Corpus Christi.

“It’s very hard to take care of business today because every phone is ringing with the same question,” Mills said.

For the time being Judge Adams has not been removed from the bench.

However, he agreed with the county attorney to have a visiting judge for the immediate future, Judge Mills said.

this is so horrible! this man hates his daughter! you can tell by the way he speaks to her and the fact that he beat her like that and wanted to keep threatening  her even after she was curled up after the beating! and that mother! she was blaming her daughter to save herself a beating instead of stopping it or defending her daughter.
This guy needs to be in jail!
how old is this video and where is the girl now? anyone know?
I am horrified by what I just saw..I kept hoping that if I watched it long enough the mom would jump in....but she didn't....how sad...

YouTube Video Shows Texas Judge Beating Daughter in 2004
Judge is up for reelection in Corpus-area county

November 2, 2011

HOUSTON - A YouTube video quickly approaching a million views allegedly shows a Texas judge beating his daughter for her use of the Internet.

The video, allegedly shot in 2004, was uploaded last Thursday.

It shows a man violently beating his at the time 16-year-old daughter with a belt. The girl’s mother is also shown taking part in the harsh punishment.

The father is also heard using abusive language, saying "lay down or I'll smack you in the f&$%ing face!"

The video runs more than seven minutes long and carries this caption: “2004: Aransas County Court-At-Law Judge William Adams took a belt to his own teenage daughter as punishment for using the internet to acquire music and games that were unavailable for legal purchase at the time. She has had ataxic cerebral palsy from birth that led her to a passion for technology, which was strictly forbidden by her father's backwards views. The judge's wife was emotionally abused herself and was severely manipulated into assisting the beating and should not be blamed for any content in this video. The judge's wife has since left the marriage due to the abuse, which continues to this day, and has sincerely apologized and repented for her part and for allowing such a thing, long before this video was even revealed to exist. Judge William Adams is not fit to be anywhere near the law system if he can't even exercise fit judgement as a parent himself. Do not allow this man to ever be re-elected again. His "judgement" is a giant farce. Signed, Hillary Adams, his daughter.”
 ::snipping2::
Judge Adams told the Corpus Christi TV station, "It happened years ago.. I apologized."

The judge said the incident was "not as bad as it looks" in the video. Adams also informed KZTV he has already contacted the Judicial Review in Austin and "more will come out" during the investigation.
 ::snipping2::
YouTube says the video has since been “age-restricted based on our Community Guidelines,” most likely due to its violent nature.

Mom should have left the marriage long before this video was made..jmo..
good that she has apologized to her daughter..but why weren't the police called when the beatings took place? probably fear that he would have beat them more afterwards cause he would have been released by the good ole boys cause he was a judge..put mom in a tough position I guess,, ..thank goodness she found the courage to leave when she did...
why is the abuse still continuing?  bet it won't now!

I sure hope she took the kids with her? I wondered how the abuse was still going on to this day as well...the girl beaten was 16 at the time which would make her 23 now...

Texas judge investigated over video of him beating daughter

Hillary Adams, daughter of Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams, outside her mother's home in Portland, Texas, on Wednesday. She posted a video of her father whipping her with a belt in 2004.

Texas authorities are investigating a family-law judge after his daughter posted a video that shows him beating her legs with a belt when she was 16 years old, according to news reports.

"She's mad because I've ordered her to bring the car back, in a nutshell, but, yeah, that's me, I lost my temper," Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams told KRIS-TV.
 ::snipping2::
"In my mind I have not done anything wrong other than discipline my child when she was caught stealing. I did lose my temper, I've apologized. ... It looks worse than it is."

The judge added that he informed the Judicial Review board after seeing the 2004 video, which was posted to YouTube last week by his daughter, Hillary, now 23.

The county district attorney and Rockport, Texas, police department are investigating.

KRIS has reaction from Hillary Adams and her mother, who is divorced from her father. Hillary said that she "had held onto the video for so long for the right time" and that it wasn't for revenge. She hopes her father seeks counseling.

Later this afternoon, she told the Associated Press she set up the camera because she knew her father would punish her for illegally downloading music. She admitted she felt some regret for posting the seven-minute clip, which has gone viral since Reddit linked to it Tuesday.

Police Investigate Texas Judge Over Video Beating
November 3, 2011

Police launched an investigation Wednesday into a Texas family law judge whose daughter posted a YouTube video of him savagely beating her with a belt during a tirade several years ago when she was a teenager.

The nearly 8-minute video, which had been viewed more than 600,000 times since it was uploaded last week, shows Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams lashing his then-16-year-old daughter in the legs more than a dozen times and growing increasingly irate while she screams and refuses to turn over on a bed to be beaten.

"Lay down or I'll spank you in your (expletive) face," Adams screams. His daughter, Hillary, wails and pleads for him to stop.

Tim Jayroe, the police chief in William Adams' hometown of Rockport, a Gulf Coast community about 200 miles south of Houston, said Wednesday that he's asked the Texas Rangers to assist in investigating whether the video shows anything criminal happened. He said his department began investigating after receiving phone calls from several concerned people who watched the secretly recorded 2004 video.
No one answered the door at William Adams' home in Rockport on Wednesday, and repeated calls to his office rang unanswered. However, the 51-year-old judge told Corpus Christi television station KZTV on Wednesday that the video "looks worse than it is," and that he doesn't expect to be disciplined or punished because of it.

"In my mind, I haven't done anything wrong other than discipline my child after she was caught stealing," Adams said. "And I did lose my temper, but I've since apologized."

Reached at her mother's home in Portland, Texas, Hillary Adams told The Associated Press that her father became irate after she was caught illegally downloading media files she hadn't paid for. She said she feels some regret over posting the video because she said she doesn't want to see her father punished, but that she hopes it will spur him to seek help.

"He's supposed to be a judge who exercises fit judgment," she said.

Aransas County Sheriff Bill Mills said that since the video was posted, William Adams has received threatening phone calls and faxes at the courthouse.

 ::snipping2::

In the video, Adams is apparently unaware the camera is on when he enters the room, turns off the light and tries forcing his daughter onto the bed to be beaten.

"Go get the belt. The big one. I'm going to spank her now," Adams is heard saying in the clip's opening seconds.

A few minutes into the video, a woman appears and barks at the girl to "turn over like a 16-year-old and take it! Like a grown woman!" For about a minute, the ordeal appears to have ended after both adults leave the room and shut the door. But the judge then storms back into the room and the beating resumes.

""I told him that I had the video, and he acted like he had nothing to worry about," she said. "And I said, I can post the video, of you beating me on the internet, and he said, 'well, you can do that if it makes you feel better.' So I did."

Texas judge William Adams says daughter posted "beating video" out of spite

CBS/AP/KZTV) McALLEN, Texas - Texas family law judge William Adams claims his daughter recently posted a YouTube video of him beating her several years ago because he told her he was reducing her financial support and taking away her Mercedes.

Through his lawyer, the Aransas County Court-at-Law judge issued a statement Thursday in which he questions his daughter Hillary's motives for posting the secretly-made 2004 video online last week.

According to CBS affiliate KZTV, the statement  from Adams' attorney William A. Dudley reads, in part, "If the public must know, just prior to the you tube upload, a concerned father shared with his 23-year-old daughter that he was unwilling to continue to... be her primary source of financial support... Hillary warned her father if he reduced her financial support, and took away her Mercedes automobile, which her father had provided, he would live to regret it. The post was then uploaded."

Police: No charges to be filed against judge
November 3, 2011

MCALLEN, TEXAS — Police say a Texas judge who was secretly videotaped beating his teenage daughter seven years ago won't face charges because the statutes of limitations have passed.

Rockport Police Chief Tim Jayroe said Thursday that Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams likely would have been charged with causing injury to a child and other assault offenses if the five-year statutes of limitations hadn't expired.

Adams is still being investigated by the state Department of Family and Protective Services, which has requested he not preside over any of its cases.

Texas Judge's Job in Jeopardy after Beating Video Surfaces

 ::snipping2::

The State Commission on Judicial Conduct announced that it had opened an investigation into the video, now viewed more than 2.3 million times on YouTube, that shows Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams beating his then 16-year-old daughter with a belt for using an illegal file-sharing program.
County officials said Thursday that Adams would not hear any cases related to Child Protective Services for at least the next two weeks. And the top administrator in Aransas County cast doubt on whether Adams could credibly return to the bench.
"I would think it would be very difficult," said Aransas County Judge C.H. "Burt" Mills Jr. "Personally I don't see how he can recover from this."
Calls to Adams' office and that of his attorney were not immediately returned Thursday.
Hillary Adams, 23, says the outpouring of support and encouragement she's received since posting the 2004 video online last week is tempered by the sadness that it's her father lashing her 17 times with a belt and threatening to beat her "into submission."

"I'm experiencing some regret because I just pulled the covers off my own father's misbehavior after so many people thought he was such a good person. ... But so many people are also telling me I did the right thing," she told The Associated Press outside her mother's home in the Gulf Coast town of Portland, near Corpus Christi Wednesday.
"He's supposed to be a judge who exercises fit judgment," she said
And she said the videoed attack was not a one-off. "It did happen regularly for a period of time," she told NBC's "Today" show on Thursday.
In the same interview, Hallie Adams blamed her ex-husband's bouts of violence on his "addiction," calling it a "family secret." She did not elaborate. Their 22-year marriage ended in 2007.
Police in Rockport, where the 51-year-old judge lives, opened an investigation Wednesday after receiving calls from several concerned citizens, Police Chief Tim Jayroe said.
Adams, Aransas County's top judge, was elected in 2001 and has dealt with at least 349 family law cases in the past year alone, nearly 50 of which involved state caseworkers seeking determine whether parents were fit to raise their children.
Aransas County Attorney Richard Bianchi said Thursday that a visiting judge would be handling CPS cases on Adams' docket for the next two weeks. The agreement between the judges was only on those specific cases, but Bianchi said the visiting judge should take on all of them.
"It makes sense to me that as long as he's (the visiting judge) here, he'll be travelling from San Antonio, that it might be just as well that he go ahead and handle the whole docket," Bianchi said.
Asked if he had concerns about Adams' ability to handle future cases, or about the impact on cases already processed in Adams' court, Bianchi said his top concern was the integrity of the process going forward.
"We have to do everything we can to protect that process," he said.
The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services did not immediately provide comment, but Bianchi said the agency was involved in the decision to bring in a visiting judge to handle those cases.
Corpus Christi television station KZTV caught up with the judge Wednesday, and he confirmed it was him in the video. But he said it "looks worse than it is" and that he doesn't expect to be disciplined.
 ::snipping2::
The 13-member Commission on Judicial Conduct comprises judges, lawyers and regular citizens. If this initial investigation leads to a formal proceeding, Adams would have an opportunity to make his case to the commission in a hearing. After that hearing the commission has the authority to censure a judge or recommend to the Texas Supreme Court that the judge be suspended or removed. The Supreme Court would then form a tribunal of appellate judges to review the case and make a determination.
Rockport Police and the Texas Rangers are conducting their own investigation. If criminal charges are brought against Adams, the commission could suspend him.
If the judicial commission and police investigations do not amount to anything, Adams could be safe in his seat on the bench for another three years. The last time he ran for re-election he faced no opposition.

Adams is still putting blame on the girl. Somehow his threatening to take away her car in 2011 is a reason to beaf her in 2004.

McALLEN — Police say a Texas judge who was secretly videotaped beating his teenage daughter seven years ago won’t face charges because the statutes of limitations have passed.
Rockport Police Chief Tim Jayroe said Thursday that Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams likely would have been charged with causing injury to a child and other assault offenses if the five-year statutes of limitations hadn’t expired.

Police: Fed. prosecutor looking into Texas beating
November 1, 2011

McALLEN, Texas (AP) — Federal prosecutors agreed Friday to look into a video that shows a Texas judge lashing his teenage daughter with a belt, a police chief said a day after authorities said too much time had passed to consider state charges.

Rockport Police Chief Tim Jayroe said he discussed the 2004 video of Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams beating his then 16-year-old daughter with a prosecutor from the U.S. attorney's Corpus Christi office.

"There was nothing that we discussed briefly this morning that to him would indicate there could be any federal involvement, but that he had seen the video and they would look into it," Jayroe said.
 ::snipping2::
U.S. attorney's office spokeswoman Angela Dodge said the office does not comment on investigations but said no federal charges had been filed Friday.

Aransas County District Attorney Patrick Flanigan said Thursday he would not pursue charges against William Adams because the statute of limitations on charges such as injury to a child expired after five years.

"I would expect that yeah, charges would have been pursued but for the inability to proceed due to the statute of limitations," Flanigan said Friday. "You know, whether that would have been a felony or a misdemeanor charge I can't say but I think there would've been some action pursued."

County Attorney Richard Bianchi, meanwhile, said a visiting judge would handle all of Adams' cases, not just those involving the state's child protective services as originally planned, for the next two weeks. Adams often presides over child abuse cases.

"Now the issue is to wait on the actions of the State Commission on Judicial Conduct," Bianchi said, referring to a state panel investigating the judge. Bianchi said he'd be "surprised" if Adams, 51, returned to the bench before the commission concludes its investigation.

 ::snipping2::
The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, which requested that he be removed from its cases until the investigation concludes, is also investigating the case.

Agency spokesman Patrick Crimmins has declined to elaborate on the exact nature of that investigation, but he said the agency generally would only investigate a case in which a suspected abuse victim has already reached adulthood if there are still children in the home who could be at risk.
Adams was granted joint custody of his 10-year-old daughter in his 2007 divorce. There are no allegations of alleged abuse by Adams against his younger daughter.

In his statement Thursday, Adams said he would "respond" to all investigations. As Aransas County's top judge, he has dealt with at least 349 family law cases in the past year alone, nearly 50 of which involved state caseworkers seeking determine whether parents were fit to raise their children.

If the judicial commission and police investigations don't lead to punishment or charges, Adams could be safe on the bench until he's up for re-election in three years.

Judge's Daughter: Beating Victim or Spoiled Brat?
November 5, 2011

HOUSTON - The door is now closed on criminal charges in the case of an Aransas County judge caught on camera whipping his then teenage daughter with a belt. Federal prosecutors said there's no crime depicted on the 2004 video involving County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams.

The statute of limitations expired on state charges.
 ::snipping2::

Hillary Adams first got sympathy when she released the seven-year-old video of her dad violently lashing her with a belt over and over again while verbally abusing her.

Investigations and public outrage followed. It sure seemed like Judge Adams' image was ruined.

Hillary, now 23, took to national television, poised and articulate, to reveal her motivation.

She wants her dad to get help.

"I thought it (Hillary's handling of situation) was masterful up until this point. I think she's had a lot of strategy laid out there for herself," said Margaret Justus, an expert in crisis communication.

But 48 hours after the video went viral, Hillary's dad released a three page statement saying his daughter only posted the video to get back at him for cutting her off financially and taking away her Mercedes.

"She has apparently been using it (the video) all these years to extort him," said Justus.

Justus says Judge Adams does a good job of making people forget about the video and instead praise him for taking a hard stand.

Fox 26 News: "He doesn't paint her at all as a victim."

"Yeah, I think that's clearly smart. He's not trying to hurt her but show she's a capable adult who's probably capable of supporting herself," said Justus.
"Cleary this is a case where there are two sides," she added.
Our viewers have been weighing in on facebook all day.
One writes, "the video makes me so angry."
But the majority discredit Hillary as a "spoiled brat," "maniapulative," and "bitter."
Tonight she responded to Fox 26 via twitter:
"There are outright lies in the statement that I can easily disprove. He is clearly delusional."
"There just should have been some early family therapy , some mediation and it wouldn't have escalated to this level," said Justus.
For many the motivation behind the video isn't what's important. Attitudes about corporal punishment are changing, and this video could be the catalyst that shows people no child should be hit like this.
Judge Adams often presides over child abuse cases. A visiting judge will handle his caseload for the next two weeks and perhaps longer if he decides to wait on the actions of a state panel investigating him.

Daughter Beating Judge William Adams Causes Problems For Employees

"Linda Garcia, 60, an executive assistant in the Aransas County Judge's Office, has most of her time taken up by people calling in after seeing the viral video of Judge William Adams beating his daughter. The executive assistant seems to have the patience of an angel when it comes to the general public's anger and frustration. After receiving 300 messages in one day, she still plans on making sure everyone gets a call back."

Thanks for the update alagary.
Judge Adams can release all he wants.  The damage is done.  We've seen the brutal beating of his daughter in the video.  There's absolutely no excuse for it.  Judge Adams has his position for three more years before elections occur again.  I don't know if he can be removed but if he's not, I'm not sure he would make it in the next election.  JMHO

Texas judge in beating video has visits with other daughter limited
November 11, 2011

cALLEN — A Texas family law judge seen beating his older daughter in a video she posted on YouTube has been placed under a temporary restraining order, and his ex-wife's attorney said Friday that it effectively prevents him from visiting his younger daughter.

Under the order issued Thursday by another judge, Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams is forbidden from visiting his 10-year-old daughter without permission from the girl's mother, his ex-wife. The order also says Adams can't disparage the woman or drink alcohol within 24 hours of seeing his child.

Brett Pritchard, the attorney for Adams' ex-wife, Hallie Adams, said in a prepared statement that the ruling "temporarily terminates the visitation between Judge Adams and his younger child."

 ::snipping2::

State District Judge Kemper Stephen Williams scheduled a hearing for Nov. 21 to decide on Hallie Adams' request to have William Adams' visitation denied or require that it be supervised.

William Adams has not held court since his 23-year-old daughter Hillary Adams released a secretly recorded 2004 video of him beating her with a belt.

Texas judge seeks to keep seeing daughter, 10
November 15, 2011

ROCKPORT, Texas—A Texas judge seen beating his older daughter in a video she posted on YouTube is fighting to stay in contact with his younger daughter.

A motion on behalf of Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams was filed Monday in Rockport over visiting his 10-year-old daughter.

The judge objects to a temporary restraining order, issued last week, barring him from visiting the girl without getting permission from her mother, his ex-wife Hallie Adams. The couple divorced in 2007.

A custody hearing has been set for next Monday.

Texas Judge William Adams suspended over beating video
November 23, 2011

(CBS/AP) McALLEN, Texas - The Texas family law judge whose daughter secretly videotaped him savagely beating her in 2004 has been suspended as a judge by the Texas Supreme Court.

According to an order signed Tuesday by the clerk of the state's highest court, Aransas County court-at-law Judge William Adams is suspended immediately with pay pending the outcome of the inquiry started by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct earlier this month.

The Associated Press reports that the order makes clear that while Adams agreed to the commission's recommended temporary suspension and waived the hearing and notice requirements, he does not admit "guilt, fault or wrongdoing" regarding the allegations.
 ::snipping2::
According to the AP, Adams won't be charged for beating his daughter because statute of limitations has run out.

UPDATE: Texas Supreme Court Suspends Judge Adams; Custody Decision Expected Today
November 23, 2011

ROCKPORT, Texas -- The family of Judge William and Hallie Adams is waiting today for a decision from a visiting judge about whether Judge will continue to be able to see their 10-year-old daughter.

This, after the judge was placed on suspension by the Texas Supreme Court, under an order that leaves him off the bench, but with pay.

Seana Willing, executive director of the State Commission of Judicial Conduct, says a case, on average, lasts about six months, but can go shorter and longer, depending on the circumstances of the case. The judge would be off the bench, but paid for however long the investigation continued.

"If it's two months, six months or 12 months, he agreed to be off the bench for that period," Willing said.

Willing said many times these cases take longer because they are adversarial. In this case, the judge agreed to cooperate with the investigation. He may appear in front of the board in person or in writing, Willing said.

A separate complaint was filed in Aransas County Tuesday by attorney David Sibley against the judge, but that case is unrelated, Willing said.
 ::snipping2::
The order indicates there is no findings of fact yet and that Judge Adams does not admit guilt, fault or wrongdoing.

Judge Adams has been under a temporary restraining order for about two weeks that keeps him from seeing his daughter. A ruling about that order is expected later today.
