Nine year old Aliahna Marie Maroney Lemmon has been missing since Friday, December 23, 2011 when she was last seen around 10 AM of the Northway trailer park in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It is unknown whether she was abducted or just walked away fron her home.

I've looked up the weather for Ft. Wayne Indiana for yesterday and today, and wunderground says it will be about the same.  Cold.  Very cold. ACSD spokesman Jeremy Tinkel said "For all we know, she could have just walked out the door".  And I've read the description of what Aliahna was wearing when last seen:  "blue and black plaid coat with fur around the hood, a silver and white sweater dress with white tights and black shoes with bows."

What nine year old child would just walk out the door in freezing weather wearing a coat, dress, tights and shoes?  If she did go out the door herself why?  Where was she going?  The weather yesterday had a high of 36, and a low of 29. This isn't make sense.

Police need help in finding young girl, 9

The disappearance of a 9-year-old girl just north of Fort Wayne prompted a massive search Christmas Eve, with more than 120 people scouring the area around the mobile home park where she was last seen.

Planes, boats, police dogs and all-terrain vehicles were used to look for Aliahna Lemmon, but by Saturday evening authorities had found no sign of her.

"I don't know that we've left any stones unturned," Allen County Sheriff Ken Fries said.

Fries said investigators are considering all possibilities, including foul play. "We will rule nothing out," he said.

Aliahna lives with her mother, stepfather and sisters in the Northway mobile home park, near Diebold Road and North Clinton Street. Her mother told authorities she had been sick with a fever for about the past week, so Aliahna and her sisters, 6 and 8, had been staying at the home of a family friend who lives in the same mobile home park.

That family friend last saw Aliahna sleeping in a chair in his home at 6 a.m. Friday, before he went to the Marathon gas station at North Clinton Street and Mayhew Road to buy a cigar, the sheriff said.

When the friend returned, he went back to sleep thinking Aliahna was still in the home. At 10 a.m., Aliahna's mother and the friend spoke on the phone. After that call, the friend realized Aliahna was gone, and he assumed she was with her mother, Fries said.

Because of a lack of communication, Aliahna's mother and the family friend did not realize that neither had the girl until about 8:40 p.m. That's when they reported her missing, Fries said.

The search began Friday night and continued Saturday morning, focusing on the 5-mile radius around the mobile home park. Abandoned buildings and fields were combed; boats were used to search ponds and rivers; and on Saturday afternoon, an Indiana State Police plane could be seen circling the area.

The owner of the mobile home park, which holds about 30 homes, allowed authorities to look through buildings and vacant homes on the property, but nothing of note was found, Fries said.

The search was called off about 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

"We've pretty much exhausted every possibility in this area," the sheriff said, adding that the search would resume if new information became available.

According to the Allen County Sheriff's Department website, 15 registered sex offenders live at the Northway mobile home park at 9435 N. Clinton St. Fries said police have spoken with those offenders, and they are not suspects in Aliahna's disappearance.

"That's the beautiful thing about the sex-offender registry. Within minutes, we know where they all are, and we can send officers to each one of their houses," the sheriff said.

Fries said authorities are not aware of any neglect or abuse issues in Aliahna's family and that she does not have a history of running away. He said her biological father lives out of state and that there are no custody disputes.

Investigators interviewed her mother, stepfather, sisters and the family friend on Friday night and again Saturday. Fries said investigators have no suspects or persons of interest in the case.

Fries said the family friend, who is about 40 years old and lives alone, shared his mobile home with Aliahna's grandfather, who died early this month. The friend is not a sex offender, the sheriff said.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Emergency workers conducted an extensive search Saturday for a 9-year-old girl with physical and emotional problems who authorities said was last seen Friday morning at a Fort Wayne mobile home park.

Aliahna has vision and hearing troubles along with attention deficit disorder and other emotional problems, he said.

The friend told police he saw Aliahna in his home around 6 a.m. Friday, but at 10 a.m. he saw a pile of her clothes by the chair where she had fallen asleep the night before. Police believe she was last in the home between those times, Fries said.

This isn't the Merry Christmas one Fort Wayne family had hoped for.

"We want to find her, get her home for Christmas well, safe, sound and happy,” said Elizabeth Sepponen, family member.

Nine-year-old Aliahna Lemmon of Fort Wayne has been missing since late Friday night, early Saturday morning. Police say she was last seen in the Northway trailer park around Clinton Street and Diebold Road.

Aliahna’s grandpa died earlier this month. Sepponen says the family hasn't been coping very well and her cousin, Tara, also Aliahna’s mother, has been very ill. Sepponen says Aliahna and her two younger sisters have been in the care of a neighbor for the past week while Tara recovers. Police say Aliahna was last reported sleeping in a chair at the neighbor’s house before she went missing. Sepponen said when Tara called to check up on her daughters, the neighbor realized Aliahna was missing.

“The babysitter thought that she had gone home to Tara. So nobody realized, because of the miscommunication, that she had actually been missing for a few hours,” Sepponen said. “Tara’s pretty freaked out.”

Police interviewed neighbors and family members all weekend. Aliahna lives in a trailer home with her mother and step-father in a neighborhood where 15 registered sex offenders also live. However, Sheriff Fries says they’ve already gone to each offender’s house and interviewed them. He says none of them are suspects.

“We're not going to rule out anything as far as foul play. Maybe she's just at a friend's house,” said Ken Fries, Allen County Sheriff. “We're hoping somebody sees this and says, 'Oh Aliahna's at our house, come get her.'”

“They're not quite sure where she went or what was in her mind at the time,” Sepponen said.

But Sheriff Fries says that’s unlikely. “Nine is young to be running away, especially when you couple that with Christmas,” Sheriff Fries said.

Sheriff Fries says the FBI, fire departments, and city, county, and state police are searching for the missing girl. Officers are using everything they can to find her...boats, planes, K-9 units, ATVs and man power—everything except an Amber Alert.

“Justifiably so, if they put Amber Alerts out for every missing child or possible run away or anything, nobody would pay attention to them. So there's certain criteria that have to be met for an Amber Alert,” Sheriff Fries said.

According to amberalert.gov, an Amber Alert will not be issued unless: there is reasonable belief abduction has occurred, police believe the child is in imminent danger, there is enough information about the description and abduction of the child, the child is 17 or younger, and the child's name has been entered into the national crime information center. Sheriff Fries says this particular case meets none of these criteria.

Sheriff Fries does not encourage people to help in the search because it could add confusion to officers who are searching. But, that hasn’t stopped Sepponen and her family.

“My sister and I are out handing out flyers, we have relatives that are out, people from our churches,” she said.

Even Facebook pages have been created and dedicated to finding Aliahna. So far there's over 1,450 “Likes” and “Shares.”

So far, Fries said they are not ruling any possibility of what could have happened to the girl out, including foul play. There have not been any custody, abuse or neglect issues in the past, but family members said the girl is partially blind, has hearing problems and suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Activity Disorder and Oppositional Defiant with Conduct Disorder.

I went to college in Fort Wayne and grew up just a short distance away.  I never heard of sex offenders when I was growing up, or even now realized that there could be that many in one area.  It is almost as though they were grouping together.  Is it just the low cost of the housing in that area, I wonder?  One more case where the odds were stacked against this little one, probably from the beginning.

I am almost certain that it is her.  Asking the city of Centerville, Iowa to allow a dangerous dog into the community for her handicap daughter.  Wonder if she had a dog with her that night?

They may have been at that park to be close to the grandfather who was a convicted child molester.

It scares me to think of what this child has probably been through.  Her "mother" needs to be thoroughly examined, there is no good reason for a woman with children to move to that particular trailer park.  This may be the answer to why a child that young is suffering from PTSD and a variety of other ailments. I hope the local authorities are not turning a blind eye to all of this, but they seem to be since there is no word that the other children have been removed from her custody.

I agree entirely.  Why wouldn't Aliahna's mother say, "hey I have Aliahna by the way," during their conversation.  So when he got off of the phone with her and realized that she was gone in his mind he would say something is wrong here...her mom didn't mention she had her.  I do not understand why the police have given up so quickly...or do they just not care...or do not want to spend money?  Even if Aliahna walked out...she IS in danger...partially blind...deaf...surrounded by pedophiles.  Really?  It seems like this town protects the sex offenders.  How can they rule them out so quickly.  Did they go in and check each home or just interview them?  They knocked on the door of Jessica Lunsfords' killer and didn't even know that she was in the home...what are they thinking?  I hope that I am wrong and they really are investigating each and every person and home in that trailer park, including Michael.

I am so sickened by this case for so many reasons.  Really, mom has the flu and can't take care of her kids.  I had a major operation stuck in bed for six weeks and I found a way to keep my kids there in my home.  There is no way on God's green earth that I would send my kids off to sleep in chairs at some young man's home that just happened to live with my dad or my grandfather.  This child was partially blind, deaf and had emotional issues.  She was also a sleepwalker.  Really, so you leave her to sleep in a chair to possibly sleepwalk amongst the worst members of society, pedophiles.  I am sure that the entire community knew that this trailer park was for the scum perverts.  There is so much more to this story...these kids have been in danger for awhile.  There is a sick reason that they were with this guy, I believe.  He has pictures of them on his facebook too.  I pray that the state has come in and removed them from this situation.

I know a lot of really good men... honest, hard working, faithful, men.  None of them would be willing to watch a neighbors three chidren for a week.  There is one reason I can think of that a man, particularly a convict living in a community filled with pedophiles, would watch three children for a full week.

Also, who needs to smoke a cigar at 6 am?  What did he do that night that he needed to sleep until 1 pm?

I want to add that after having spent the last year and a half (started reading about these cases after Kyron Horman went missing) and having a retired provost marshal for a father and a public defender for a mother, I believe our system is flawed in regards to missing children cases.  There is always room for improvement, but at this point in time our system is totally flawed.

IMO we need a rapid response team on the ready to hold operations that balance our constitutional rights and the life of a missing child.  Searches should begin immediately, even in the dark, checking all buildings and vacant homes/apts.  For any child under 12 an amber alert should be sent and that child considered endangered, especially if no one knows who said child is with. 

This response team should be highly trained in all facets of interviewing, forensics, child psychology, sexual predatory behavior, etc... Highly trained dogs should be part of this unit.  I would guess two units for every state of our nation would be sufficient.  Knowing time is of the essence they should be fully prepared to operate swiftly, efficiently, and one point focused on finding the child.  When a child/children are missing this team should be given immediate jurisdiction over the case until that time when their duties of initial response are over.

Many holes could be punched into this idea, financial/logistics/training, etc..., but unless we are ready to take this growing danger to our society seriously more and more harm will come to our children.

I've read the first 3 pages of this thread over and over.  There are undertones in this case that remind me of Shaniya Davis and then I read that Plumadore has connections in NC and I just about fell out of my chair.  Another monkey (sorry can't remember which one at the moment) suggested that maybe he (Plumadore) wanted to have his picture at that time on that morning.  It is possible that Aliahna was handed off to someone at that service station.  I wonder if the police have talked to the other two children to find out when Aliahna supposedly left with her mother.  Now with the FBI involved doesn't  that mean a crime may have been committed that involves crossing state lines?  So many questions and no answers.   ::MonkeyNoNo::

2- Mom lives in a trailer park with her three young children that is inhabited by violent sexual offenders....approximately 50%

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Allen County Sheriff's Department is currently updating the media on the disappearance of missing 9-year-old Aliahna Lemmon.

The search has come to an end.

Allen County Sheriff Ken Fries is reporting that the findings have come to a conclusion they were not hoping for. Lemmon was found dead around 9 p.m. tonight after investigators interviewed a person involved in the investigation.

The name of the suspect has not been released, but that person has been charged with murder. Fries said the person was an individual that Lemmon had been staying with for the last week.

YUP, just disgusting. Found in a dumpster thrown away like trash. Shaking my head. So many people would have loved to have been the parent of this little girl and taken her away from this living Hell.

This is one of those cases that emphasizes the fact of don't ever let anyone tell you you do not have the right the question people and at times judge them. We make judgements all the time to protect children. Sadly, too many adults do not.

One has to wonder how long this abuse had been going on.

I share your feelings too. This has been one of the worst years I can remember regarding children going missing/abused and neglected. These cases take a toll on us all emotionally. I think I may need a break from all this but yet I keep coming back. I just don't understand why this keeps happening over and over.

 Pumadore's made no sense in any way. Every aspect of his story was suspect and the fact that family members stood behind it and they kept referring to Aliahna's physical and emotional history is rather offensive.

::rhino:: and on top of all of that, her own grandfather was a convicted molester.  Not much can cause PTSD in a child and when I read that article I felt I knew exactly what caused that.  NO children should be living in that trailer park. Period.  Parents who do move into that place with children should have their current and future parental rights abolished.  This mother should never, ever have allowed those children anywhere near their grandfather. IMO, she is as much to blame for Aliahna's death as the actual killer.  I sincerely hope the remaining children have been removed from her care and are getting thorough checkups.

Investigators found the body of a 9-year-old girl Aliahna Lemmon in northern Allen County and the family friend with whom she had been staying has been arrested, Allen County Sheriff Ken Fries announced tonight.

Aliahna Lemmon was last seen about 6.a.m. Friday sleeping in the mobile home of family friend Michael Plumadore.

Plumadore has been arrested on a preliminary charge of murder and will appear in court in Allen County Tuesday morning.

This case smelled of BS from the moment I read about it, first off what mom would hand her kids off for a week and not even bother to see them for days, what kind of mom would allow her children to be in an enviroment that is 50 percent pedophiles, and why did it seem mom and grandmom made her out to be the problem by stating she had emotional problems, PTSD which is a huge flag IMO that something horrific had already happened and most likely repeatedly considering her grandfather was also a pervert. Then the blaise attitude of "oh she sleepwalks and could open doors and get out", the way they stood up for the monster yet continued to speak of her behavoiral problems. He77, growing up with that family I can't see how on earth she wouldn't have issues but those are due to the parents/grandparents and their own selfish needs. Who here has ever left their child with the neighbor for a week due to flu.....that in and of itself was a huge red flag. I pray they remove these children and carefully evaluate where to place them as I am certain the other kids must have deep emotional issues from being raised by nothing more than egg/sperm donor who seem to be a waste of oxygen.

Also I read on the child's godmother's FB that she was found cut up :( I pray that is not the truth and if it is, they should toss him in general population for 20 minutes and be done with it.

Fueled by child pornography easily found on line and seeing the numbers of parents and pedophiles getting away with crimes against children, these pedophiles and predators are growing more brazen.

This cycle also encompasses the children who are abused and molested who then go on to do those same things since learned behavior is a factor within the cycle as well.  The functioning capacity of the abused child's brain is distorted and changed by the abuse causing behavioral changes they then carry into adulthood.

Look at this mother as an example.  She must have known what was happening to her daughters and yet she as much as handed them over to her grandfather and his housemate.  It is a likelihood that she was raised under similar circumstances.

It is my concern that if we do not tackle child pornography and abuse/murder of children head on and with great force it will continue to cycle out of control.  A streamlined court system set up strictly for crimes against children would assist with an immediate cleansing of this parasitic infestation we are facing.

We've had war on drugs, war on terrorism, war on drunk driving.  Maybe we need a war against child abuse/pornography/murder?  An awareness campaign of sorts.

Problem is the subject is difficult to look at.  Few people are willing to discuss it and so it festers in the dark and shadows, growing like mold.

Sorry, I will step off my soap box.  I'm just passionate about the subject and see no end without drastic measures.  Aliahna will suffer no more and for that I am thankful.

I hate that I have become s cynical, but I wonder if mom wasn't pimping her daughter out....what single man would want to take on 3 young girls for a week, I just feel like there was an ulterior motive and maybe she was too hard to take care of (in mom's eyes). Why didn't grandma help out, what about stepdad since he only worked nights and surely he didn't sleep every minute when he was home. A nine yr old could actually be helpful when you are sick....I had the flu myself when my daughter was this age and the reason I remember it so well is that I had just filed for divorce, she would get me juice, my medication for fever, she was more of a help than a hindrance.....granted she probably ate cereal or takeout during that time but we made it just fine, it's not like the mom was deathly ill. HOW on earth was she so certain she left on her own and then poof, she disappeard but don't blame Mike....he'd never hurt anyone so I don't blame him?? WTF........most ppl are angry whether it is justified or not when a "caregiver" loses a child, yet she is so defiant about speaking ill wrt Mike but not upset about blaming her granddaughter. Then later in the interview she takes up for him and obviously thinks it is ok to leave children home alone when 15 out of 24 trailers are occupied by RSO's? I wouldn't do it if they were occupied with nuns, but here she is defending him again:

There doesn't seem to be many happy endings these days.  I say this as I watch a 25 year old officer being laid to rest this morning after a 19 year old thug shot him.  What a sad day for my community.  The honor flag from September 11 is being flown here today. 

Armys Sister, I agree a fight against child porn (porn period because it started from that, IMO), child abuse, child neglect, murder and so on...is what we need.  Grady Judd here in Polk County has taken such a BIG stance against it...he enforces stings all of the time and takes it so serious.  It is such a serious issue.  Maybe we could start an organization and really go after it.  I too believe that there is more to this story.  I think that grandma knows more and I cannot help but wonder if everyone was involved.

I am so angry right now..I am not sorry to say this...I blame the parents..most of the time,children do not go missing from good,caring,concerned parent's homes..it is usually rumdum parents who don't care enough for their own children to make sure that they are safe..who sends their children to a community where over half of the people there r sex offenders? Apparently the family thought he was a very trustworthy person. (unbeleivable IMO) The grandmother spoke up for him repeatedly.  Why didn't the grandmother keep her 3 little granddaughters while her daughter was so sick?  I don't understand any of this.  None of their stories make sense to me. What was the purpose of the mother's phone call at 10am Friday morning?

 

Where did the diagnosis of PTSD come from?  That is a very rare condition for a child with one major exception: children who have been sexually and/or physically abused over a long period of time.  My diagnosis came only after extensive counseling as an adult survivor of abuse.  Whoever made the diagnosis should have been digging deeper to find out the cause, and then make the appropriate call to protective services.  This poor angel had been abused by someone or even multiple parties.   

This egg donor's careless placement of her children with a convenient, albeit all too willing caretaker, while she wallowed around milking her selfish "illness" is indicative of her disinterest in her children.  On the other hand, the perp was probably glad to take the children  and it didn't take him long, notice she was killed the night of the 22nd, to make his move on his victim.  And then, because no one actually checks on the children, he has plenty of time to try to cover up his horrendous deed.

Makes me sick, but it is so predictable.  Again, as Klaas said, this child and so many more like her had no chance because unlike even the lowest of animals, there is no parental unit to protect them.   ::MonkeyMad:: :smt059 ::MonkeyHang::

We lost a 30 yr old mother yesterday because some thug followed her from the store and ran her off the rd. He then kidnapped her ,raped her repeatedly then beat her to death with a baseball bat then threw her out in a field. He confessed and led them to the body. Hang him.

I don't get the motive.  Why hit her with the brick and kill her, for what reason? Remember when police said dogs tracked the girl toward the bus stop and then it just stopped near the road. Aliahna was probably trying to run away and she was caught. They fact that no one saw the girl anywhere becomes obvious as this savage cut her up in his residence.

The motivation was probably fear.  My theory is that he sexually assaulted Aliahna and either killed her because she was screaming or because he was afraid she would tell. He dismembered her to try to dispose of the body, leaving the most identifiable parts, hands and head in the freezer for later disposal. 

This may have been his first murder because he didn't think through how to dispose of the body quickly and efficiently and his alibi of miscommunication with mother was easily disproved.  Drugs could have been involved which would have made his inhibitions to lessen.  And the porn would have added fuel to the fire, so to speak.  It certainly wasn't the first time he had committed his kind of crime, IMHO.

Whatever the motivaation, he is scum and not worthy to breathe the same air as the rest of "Humanity".  That being said, this precious angel's so called family should be locked up  with him.

To assist her dying father, Tarah Souders made a choice: She moved her three young girls to a run-down trailer park in rural Indiana to help take care of him as his lungs rotted from emphysema.

She knew it could be dangerous. The park of about two dozen homes was teeming with convicted sex offenders, with one living at nearly every address. She worried about neighbors with sex offense records who had been helping her father get by, according to trailer park residents. And before she arrived, she even asked her father if her children could be at risk for abuse from two specific men – including a suspect now accused in her daughter's death.

"He said, `No. They will not touch your children. They're doing everything they're supposed to do,'" said Greg Shumaker, one of 15 convicted sex offenders who live at the park and the other man that Souders had inquired about.

Weeks later, police say, a horrific tragedy unfolded. Her 9-year-old daughter, Aliahna Lemmon, was brutally killed. Police say 39-year-old Michael Plumadore told investigators that he bludgeoned her to death with a brick, then dismembered her and hid her head, hands and feet at her grandfather's trailer before dumping the other remains elsewhere.

Shumaker said Aliahna's family moved there to help take care of 66-year-old James E. "Shorty" Lemmon, who also was a convicted sex offender and died Dec. 3. He said Lemmon was "getting old" and "had trouble breathing."

Shumaker said he introduced Plumadore to Lemmon shortly after Plumadore moved into the trailer park, and Plumadore moved in with Lemmon a few days later. Shumaker said he knew Lemmon because they were both sex offenders and were in jail together.

There was a facebook or MySpace (a mans, maybe stepdad) with a tattoo as the frontpage pic. Then I saw a quick peek at someone's photos of a military graduation. Lady was wearing a blue dress and had a lot of tattoos.

Sadly, I'm really not surprised at the horror I've been reading with this case.  It won't stop because these guys are getting away with torturing and killing our babies.  And they're getting access directly through the families.

Has anyone figured out the timeline?  I know there were at least three interviews with the perp and several searches, some with, some without warrants.  Did LE find the remaining body parts in the freezer and then confront him at which time he confessed and told them where to find the rest of the body?  Or did he confess and tell them what was in the freezer and where he had dumped the rest?

I guess I am trying to figure out if the scumbag actually confessed or spilled the beans after he knew that LE had enough evidence to charge him.

I KNEW that PTSD had to have come from some form of abuse.  And I'll bet those 'men' little Aliahna didn't want to tattle on were related to her.  This poor child has been through so much.  May she now find some peace and may someone step in and take her sisters away from this lifestyle.

I don't feel one bit sorry for this mother. She was part of the cause of why her daughter is dead. I feel sorry for Aliahna and her sisters who were left to endure what ever this 'babysitter' put them through while mom was at home laying around with the step father.
If mother is feeling pain now, oh well, too bad, so sad..can't be anything close to what her little daughter endured and who is now dead!
no other relatives, no other friends of the family could have kept these little girls while mom was not feeling so well? really? a whole week of being sick, so sick that you couldn't go check on your little daughters??? spare me...

apparently the bio father was not actively in this little girl's life..typical..then they are overcome with grief when something really bad happens..He didn't protect her either as far as I am concerned..but I will give him the benefit of the doubt until I find out more about him.

I know your heart is in the right place, and I myself have known some very poor but very good and loving parents.  A child would be safer living in a car with their parent by their side than in a house down the street with a convict and no one to protect them.

When a child is murdered it is appropriate to sit in condemnation lest we see these murders happen over and over again.  If we don't look hard at what led to this child's death how will we end the cycle?

Would you leave your three small girls with a 39 year old man who has a criminal record for four whole days without speaking to them?  Seeing them?  Checking on them daily?  Even with the babies only a couple of doors away??  Neither the mom nor her husband bothered.

Not even a poor and simple parent with a tiny bit of common sense would do this.  This is complete negligence.  Especially in light of the fact that her daughter is already ill and suffering from previous molestations (yes, plural, yes this woman somehow managed to have the bad luck of having a daughter who was mysteriously molested multiple times by multiple men and finally murdered). 

I do judge this woman who birthed three babies and refused to love and parent them enough to protect them.  What is hate?  I will tell you that I would not do to someone I hate what this woman has done to her own children... exposing them to monsters and ignoring them for days at a time when they are young and incapable of protecting themselves.

When children are harmed we should critically analyze the situation that allowed it to occur otherwise we can just consider ourselves passive bystanders of evil.  It is an act of love to be courageous enough to do so.  Most people are afraid of being thought of poorly if they speak out even when children are being molested, abused, and murdered all around us.

I know this sounds harsh and I don't like that it does, but it is truth, my truth.  I do not wish for you to feel badly and I appreciate your kind soul and compassion but children need protection and we can't keep turning away from them.

I refuse to be intimidated into silence by someone who believes that what I say would have one scintilla of effect upon those responsible for this child and the hundreds like her. 

I challenge each of you who read here to find a child who has disappeared who came from an intact nuclear (non-blended) family.  I can't think of one.  If you want to blame someone for the plague of dead children that litter this country, blame the Brady Bunch and all those who decided that divorce should be easy, affordable, and blameless.  With that mentality, came the fall of the time built custom of parents taking care of their own children.  The bounding that takes place upon birth, is not shared by a step parent or live-in or any other surrogate with the exception of perhaps grandparents.  Most steps are good, loving parents but many are placed in the position of being responsible for children that they do not know and can not bond with.

Children a fragile creatures and God created the nuclear family to protect them until they are able to do so on their own.  Break that family, usually because the two parties are immature themselves, and add the elements alcohol, drugs, porn, along with monetary strains that usually accompany these ill-conceived unions, and you have the recipe for disaster.  The target for this storm of unintended consequences more often than not, is the children. 

I say to those who criticize my rage at these "parents" is that if the sperm and egg donors had made the hard choices, the choices that were the best for their children and not themselves, they wouldn't find themselves mourning their loss and playing the "pity me" game.

That is why I mourn for the children, true the innocents, and not the parents, who more often than not, brought about the circumstances that eventually led to their children's deaths.  Call me cold-hearted, but I have been where these parents are and more important, where their children are or were.  I am lucky, however, I am a survivor of such "parents".

It can be very difficult to read  case after case of children that are neglected, bartered, maimed, dismembered, murdered and more when it seems like the adults, including parents and others around the child failed that child.  We have infants disappearing from homes in the middle of the night.    We see cases right here in this forum of parents that not only neglect their children, but some bring the SO's, druggies and murderers right into their home where the children live or as in the case of the child in this thread, left them in the care of someone that shouldn't have been around them (ya'll know what I mean).  To mind comes the photo of little Shaniya Davis, with her rapist and murderer holding her outside the elevator of the hotel, just before she was killed. And remember Robert Manwill?  It just breaks my heart.  All of this brings out so much emotion.  And we all have our feelings and emotions and sometimes it all just comes out.  We look for answers, we ask why.  How could it have been prevented?  And there is the discussion that's been on this thread.  There are some parents that are good and are vigilant and watch over their children and bad things can still happen.  Then there are some that leave their children to the wolves.  It's hard to continue watching case after case after case.   The children are paying with their lives and it hurts us.  The children are the weakest and the most frail and they depend on us for everything.  And too many times the adults around them failed them.  JMHO

We can't control the monsters who have within them the desire to harm the innocent.  They will look for the weakest prey and one thing that makes a child easy prey is a parent who does not care or put in the effort to protect their children.  Sometimes the monster is the parent them self.

We can control the way we parent, understanding there is threat out there and keeping our children safe to the best of our ability. 

We can control the way we investigate crimes against children.

We can control the sentencing guidelines against both the monsters and the negligent parents who put there children in harms way.  I believe when gross negligence leads to harm or death of a child a strict sentence should be imposed against the parent.  I also believe anyone who enjoys harming a child should never be released back into the public domain. 

No more excuses.  If you don't know how to parent or you don't want to parent, do not have children, especially multiple children.

Seriously, we could use some public service announcements about this:

CENTERVILLE — More Centerville ties to the story of nine-year-old Aliahna Lemmon, who was killed in Indiana Dec. 22, have been found since the Daily Iowegian first reported that the girl’s father held residency in the Centerville area.

The Daily Iowegian first reported that Dawayne Maroney, Aliahna’s biological father, held residency in Centerville and was seeking donations to travel to Aliahna’s funeral in Indiana. However, many of those involved in the story that went national last week have been in Centerville and have held addresses from Centerville or surrounding communities in the past.

Tarah Souders, the mother of Aliahna, has traffic tickets from Appanoose County and Monroe County dating back as far as 2005, according to online court records.

In a January 2010 case, Aliahna is listed as the victim of a sexual assault. Kurtis Allen Kennedy, age 19 at the time of the crime, was originally charged with second degree sexual abuse. He was later arraigned on a charge of indecent contact with a child, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Kennedy plead not guilty to the original charge on April 16, 2010. On July 9, 2010 he entered a guilty plea to the indecent contact with a child charge.

According to a complaint affidavit signed by Centerville Police Officer Jeremy Cole, during a Jan. 21 interview with Kennedy at his home, he confessed to his acts on Jan. 2.

“On Jan. 21, 2010 at approximately 3:20 p.m., DHS case worker Sarah Baker and I [Jeremy Cole] interviewed the defendant [Allen Kennedy] in his home, during the interview Kennedy did admit to partially disrobing Aliahna Lemmon, a seven year old child, and placing his hand on the child’s bare buttock, while the child was in his case on the evening of Jan. 2, 2010,” the affidavit said. “The defendant did so for the sole purpose of self-sexual gratification. The victim, Aliahna Lemmon, confirmed the defendant’s admission.”

As reported in a July 26, 2010 article in the Daily Iowegian, entitled “Prison sentence suspended to probation for Centerville teen,” Kennedy was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended to two year probation and a fine and surcharge, also suspended. Kennedy was ordered to register on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry for 10 year and to complete one of the residential correctional facilities operated by the Eighth Judicial District Department of Corrections.

Kennedy was sent to a halfway house in Ottumwa; however, he was involved in a fight on Oct. 11 inside the facility where he received a simple assault charge from the Ottumwa, Iowa Police Department. He was later transferred to Oakdale Prison in Iowa, where he is currently serving his prison sentence.

Sandy Runkle, programs director for Prevent Child Abuse Indiana, said parents often turn to the people they know best to watch their children--namely friends, relatives, and neighbors--which may not always be the best choice, RTV6's Kara Kenney reported.

"Typically when something happens to a child, it is by someone the child knows; it is not a stranger," Runkle said. "In (more than) 90 percent of sexual abuse cases, the children know the perpetrator."

Child advocates advised parents to check baby sitters’ references, criminal background and the sex offender registry before entrusting their child in their care.

"It's like any job interview. You get references, do the research and observe the person. It's kind of like a probation period,” Runkle said.

But Runkle warned that although parents can diminish the risk, it can never be eliminated.

"Nothing is 100 percent foolproof," she said. "There are also parents who abuse their children, so that's not even 100 percent foolproof."

(Plumadore) has a history in Watauga County.  Sheriff Len Hagaman said that Michael Plumadore was in Watauga in 2007 and 2008, and was arrested here as a fugitive from Indiana.  The Sheriff said Plumadore was found in what was the “Domestic Violence and Sex Offender Registry Verification” by warrant and sex offender check, and was here November 29th of 2007 to January 22nd 2008. While in Boone, Plumadore listed 302 West King St. as his address—the former location of the Hospitality House.

A depraved act by a family's 'trusted friend'

Michael Plumadore, described as a “trusted friend of the family,” is said to have confessed to the crime and is being held on three felony charges – murder, abuse of a corpse and removing a body from the scene of a suspicious death “with intent intend to hinder a criminal investigation.” A formal hearing is expected to happen next week. He told police he hit the girl repeatedly in the head with a brick, then dismembered her with a hacksaw. Some of the body went into a trash bin dumpster and some into Plumadore's freezer.

A lot of the discussion now centers on whether Plumadore will or should face the death penalty. If his crimes don't warrant capital punishment, some are saying, what in the world does? Merely murdering someone doesn't earn execution in Indiana. The death penalty is reserved for the “worst of the worst” – one of 16 aggravation circumstances must also be present. The crime Plumadore is alleged to have committed carries two of those circumstances – a victim who was under 12 years old and victim who was dismembered. And if it turns out Aliahna was molested, that would be a third qualifier. Chief Allen County Deputy Prosecutor Mike McAlexander says the office “has not precluded” the possibility of seeking the death penalty.

Aliahna had been reported missing around 8:45 p.m. Dec. 23. She and her two sisters had been staying with Plumadore because the girls' mother, who lives nearby, was reportedly ill.

I'm glad to see the trailer towed away and I hope it's kept in a secure location.  I've seen a number of cases in the past where  homes of those that commit crimes or homes where murders have been committed are set on fire.  Sometimes I believe the places are set on fire to destroy evidence, but sometimes it could be because people just don't want a place continuing to exist where such bad things happened.   Either way, I think it's important that any and all possible evidence be extracted and preserved in regard to the trailer.  There's no telling what else may be found in the trailer.  JMHO

I wish the news sentinel wouldn't refer to this as a "hot story," it's a tragedy...a sad preventable tragedy.

I am glad that the sisters were taken away from the family. I hope that they are not given to anyone in this pedo infested community family.  A fresh new normal family is needed for these precious girls.  There is no telling what these girls have seen, heard and endured in their short lives. It was only a matter of hours or days until the same fate awaited them as what happened to Aliahna.
I  don't think that he would have stopped with just one child if he was given enough time with them...gives me chills to think about.

        (3) the commission of the offense is facilitated by furnishing the victim, without the victim's knowledge, with a drug (as defined in IC 16-42-19-2(1)) or a controlled substance (as defined in IC 35-48-1-9) or knowing that the victim was furnished with the drug or controlled substance without the victim's knowledge.
    (c) It is a defense that the accused person reasonably believed that the child was sixteen (16) years of age or older at the time of the conduct, unless:

Is there anything out there that would lead one to believe that Aliahna was abused by her own grandfather? 

It looks like grandpa served 6 years.  Below is a link to the mandatory sentencing.  I read that he should have been sentenced to 20, but I may not be reading it right.  If it is 3 for 1 in Indiana like it is in Texas, he would have served a little over six years before he was eligible for parole.

FORT WAYNE – Michael Len Plumadore, formally charged with murdering 9-year-old Aliahna Lemmon, pleaded not guilty at an initial hearing this morning.

Plumadore, in a striped jail jumpsuit, was silent as media shouted questions at him as he left the courthouse.

A trial date for Plumadore will be set Jan. 18. Another pretrial hearing is scheduled for Feb. 27.

This case really concerns me in so many ways.  I wonder what will happen if the autopsy shows cause of death is something besides blunt force trauma to her head.  What if his confession is a lie and he killed her some other way?  Maybe this is why he kept her skull.  He seems too calm especially during that interview before he confessed.  He appears to be the epitome of "cold blooded" and I am beyond creeped out.

I felt like his "confession" was not the truth.  Wouldn't someone notice or hear, even in the early morning hours?  Plus, him cleaning up.  I don't know it just doesn't seem to be plausible.

I don't know if he lied in his confession or not, but he could certainly severe her spinal cord with one blow to the head.  That would eliminate any noise from her other than what she might make hitting the ground. 

I tend to think that however she was killed, it was done outside of the trailer so that her sisters wouldn't wake up during the act and see what was going on.   ::CowboySmiley::

This is a horrible thought, but I thought he put her in plastic bags and put her in the freezer and then dismembered her later.  If she was frozen, wouldn't that stop the blood from going everywhere.  If this is what he did, I think it would take more than one night.  Also, he could have drugged the other two girls so he wouldn't have to worry about waking them.  He had plenty of time to get them straightened out later because Aliahna wasn't reported missing until around 9:00 that evening.


Another question I would love to have answered is if Aliahna was dressed up to go to a birthday party, whose party and when was she to go?

I have been thinking along the same line. How could he kill her on the front porch without someone hearing or seeing anything? Wouldn't the dogs have hit on that immediately? Surely there would have been some evidence on that porch. Why would he chance doing it outside? For some reason I don't believe that part of his story. I am interested in the autopsy findings. I like this Sheriff Ken. When I first saw him he was kind of blunt, but I think he was trying to hold it together. I can not imagine how LE kept it together when they discovered little Aliahna's remains. I am sure many of the LE involved have children themselves. I personally, don't think I would have had the same restraint. Prayers to LE and this Sheriff and the entire community.

The Sheriff is on Nancy Grace right now but I am not sure if this has aired already.

Now that you mention it I remember everyone talking about her wearing those same clothes.  Guess I didn't realize the party had been at school.

Ali probably wanted to keep her clothes on because of molestation from her pedo babysitter. I have a feeling that she slept in that chair the whole time that she was at pedo's house. Maybe she felt safer in the chair? Closer to the door? Probably wasn't a decent bed for this child to sleep in anyways...I can not listen to grandma ever since she has sticking up for the murderer. Why didn't she keep her own grand daughters instead of this monster? Too busy? Too lazy? Too sick?   Bahhhhhhh!

Yep, I wonder about grandma's absence during this time as well.  There is also a step-grandpa and stepfather as well.  Yeah, stepfather works nights, but there have been many times I have stayed up all night and worked the next day because of sick children.   You do what you have to do in order to take care of them even if it means some discomfort to you, the adult.  And who stays home with the flu for a week.  She should have been in the hospital if she was that sick and not sleeping in the same house with her husband.

I think it means he was incarcerated during that time but I wouldn't swear to it.  There appears to be a time lapse from 2001 to 2007.  Wonder where he was during that time.   ::MonkeyEek::  It would be interesting to find out how and why he ended up in Indiana.

The poor kids.  It's hard enough for adults to deal with these thoughts, much less the children.  My grandchildren were really tore up over Zahra Baker.  There are some things we will just never be able to understand.

The Fort Report: Sheriff Ken Fries discusses the Aliahna Lemmon case

Have been reading along with y'all, just haven't posted much cuz .. my heart is so heavy, case after case.  Sigh. 

Am very concerned for Aliahna's two younger sisters.  Am very glad they have been removed from their "home" and taken into protective custody.  Along with many other monkeys, I feel that the (cough cough) "mother" OUGHT to be arrested right along with the POS who murdered/dismembered Aliahna.  LE could even arrest the "grandmother", it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all.  My head swims with the many charges that might be brought against the "mother", at the very least... negligence.  Wish they could be arrested for being.. stupid, uncaring, thoughtless, and etc etc etc.

Back to the sisters.  As several monkeys have already mentioned, what perhaps did they see, hear.. when Aliahna was being killed/dismembered?  The possibilities are horrifying!  I hope for their sakes that they receive immediate therapy and are placed together with truly loving and patient caregivers.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Michael Plumadore appeared in an Allen County courtroom Wednesday morning on a murder charge, but no trial date was set.

The appearance lasted less than 10 minutes. Judge John Surbeck, the prosecution and defense agreed that Plumadore’s next appearance will be February 27.

Besides a handful of media members, women representing the Facebook group “Justice for Aliahna” were in attendance. They say they plan to be at each court appearance until the case is resolved.

The women met through various Facebook pages created in the aftermath of Aliahna’s death. They plan to attend every public court appearance related to the murder case.

No one in the group has a personal connection to the case but said outrage over the brutal murder inspired the commitment.

Williams and the others are part of other efforts to honor Aliahna. Organization of a balloon launch is underway to talk place around what would have been the girl’s tenth birthday. A memorial book has been created which upon completion will be donated to the child’s elementary school.

I know everyone grieves differently, but being in court to represent your own child is something I would be doing no matter how much pain it caused me.

I didn't put this here in time but I just wanted to say this past Monday April 2 would have been Aliahna's 10th birthday.  So sad she had to leave this world so soon but I know there is no more suffering and she is surrounded by more love and beauty in paradise than we can ever imagine. Happy 10th sweet child. RIP

Today Michael Plumadore plead guilty.

Since the pros decided to try the case with DP, he accepted LWOP. He will be sentenced 6/18/12.

Thank you for the update AmandaReckonWith.  Michael Plumadore is a waste of oxygen.  He wasn't sentenced to  ::MonkeyHang:: which I think would have been more in line with what his punishment should be.  After all, he took an innocent little girls life, yet he doesn't have to pay with his.  ::MonkeyNoNo::  I hope his sentence of LWOP is as miserable as it can be.  JMHO 

I hope that his life is a living hell everyday.
