Easy we had a club named the Pirate's Den where I grew up, the other big thrill was to look old enough we could get in there to dance when I was in high school. My friends could do it, I was the tallest and looked the oldest but the first and only time I 'slipped in' my big sister told on me and I was grounded for weeks  :lol:

GLASGOW, Scotland —  Witnesses said a motorist tried to ram a Jeep Cherokee in flames into the main terminal building of Glasgow airport Saturday, reports said.

The British Broadcasting Corp. said witnesses described an SUV driving at full speed toward the terminal building with flames pouring out from the car.

The airport was evacuated and all flights suspended, the report said.

Police, however, said two cars had collided outside the airport around 3:15 p.m., with one of them bursting into flames.

Strathclyde Police spokeswoman Lisa O'Neil did not confirm media reports saying the motorist tried to drive into the terminal building.

"One car is on fire, but it is not clear if it went inside the terminal building," she said.

After looking at this picture I always found it weird that Satish would be hanging out with Joran after his release. Especially after that police car conversation they had. If I had a conversation like that with Joran he would be dead to me. I would never be caught hanging out with him. Why wasn't Satish loyal to his brother and not hang out with him. Sometimes I wonder about that conversation in the van. They definitely knew they would be recorded.

Joran never did drugs, he has been tested for that in school and in prison, one of the few that tested clean. We always talk to him about such things, he's a sporter ...drinking age is 16 I know all the rumours about going to the casino ... he just started to play that advertised poker game that was all over the island, he got an invitation for that. Who sent Joran a invitation to play poker? Ahh must have been the excelsior casino..I play alot of poker and they are extremely strict with all rules especially someone underaged!!! Like PVDS,I seriously doubt he took third in that tourney. In the transcripts he had to borrow 10 dollars from someone that night after the tourney where he said he won money..I heard 3 diffrent amts 150,300 and 400 dollars he won.

I think Guido was the one who invited Joran to play poker. I was looking at the statements this week and trying to make a comprehensive timeline of everyone's various stories...quite an undertaking. I'm pregnant so I did it while resting and eating an entire jar of dill pickles.

Yes--in one statement he said he won "like $30;" in a later statement it was $400. I haven't heard the $150K amount, but that's unsuprising--it's hard for a girl to keep up with every single lie.

She stayed at the same Holiday Inn where Holloway and her high school classmates booked their rooms. On Christmas Eve, Marie said she went to Carlos 'N Charlie's, the same bar where the missing Alabama teen was last seen.

When she left, Marie said a man pulled her into his car, drove away and raped her.

"As I was being pulled into vehicle, screams came out of me that I couldn't imagine ever coming out of me of me and people did nothing," said Marie.

"I have never felt threatened, felt scared. Aruba is home away from home for me and always will be," said Neely Cosentino, an Aruba homeowner.

Cosentino said she and her husband bought a second home in Aruba and spend more than half the year there. She said they made the investment because they believe the island is safe. The government does not tolerant crime because tourism is their top industry.

"Over 500,000 tourists a year visit Aruba, and if it wasn't because of us Americans, Aruba wouldn't be the way it is. So to answer your question, there is zero tolerance for anybody that is threatening or doing any damage to Americans," said Cosentino.

Marie said she managed to get away from her assailant that night. She said she did not report the attack to island police because she was alone and afraid, but mostly because she would not have been able to identify her attacker.

12. If appropriate measures are taken to safeguard Miss Doe and her family, might be prepared to testify in New York, in the above-referenced action. For fear of her safety, Miss Doe is not willing.

I recall reading about another attempt on Jorans part to pick up a girl, the one he followed to the bathroom, and showed the knife to, and claimed "My fathers a powerful lawyer, and I can do whatever I want." (may not be verbatim)......the guy is a predator.

I read a statement from the father of one of these girls..Said he came forward because what happened to his daughter was eerily similar to Natalee.

We don't know if it had something to do with—I was told that Dennis Jacobs (ph) had strongly—had talked to the girls and was really putting the pressure on them to retract this, so you know, we just don't know how far that some individuals in that police department were going to go to put a stop to those girls coming forward. But they were real girls and they had been assaulted by Joran under the influence of drugs.

ORANJESTAD-What suppose to be a nice bar hopping night on board the Chiva Paranda bus, ended in a big physical fight among a group of American tourists at Chasers Cafe last Tuesday.

At the cafe there was a dispute between two Americans that resulted in a physical fight, more tourists that were part of the group joined in. A number of police officers immediately arrived at the scene to restore order.

One of the persons involved received a serious injury to the head and
had to be transported to the hospital. Police detained an American who was involved in the fight at the cafe. The cause of the big fight is still not clear.

The interior of Chasers Cafe suffered much damage. It is not known
whether the owner will have those involved in the fight pay for the
damages.

Chasers Cafe is one of the popular stops for the bar hopping
tour on board the Chiva Paranda bus. The cafe is located on the Adriaan Lacle Boulevard in Oranjestad.

And from what I am reading in the same papers that you are, that these young girls, obviously, will feel more comfortable coming forward in New York. I was watching Law & Order Criminal Intent last night reruns and on came their version of The Natalee Holloway disappearance taking place in NYC.

I must say I really missed many parts from when I first watched it when it originally came out. They really did a good job at L&O of researching and nailing some of the fine points.

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) — ...... A third man was arrested with the Kalpoes but his lawyer said Monday that it was unrelated to Holloway's disappearance.

Freddy Alexander Zedan-Arambatzis, a friend of van der Sloot and the Kalpoes, was arrested on suspicion of having unspecified "physical contact" with a female minor, said his lawyer, Diana Emerencia.

Zedan-Arambatzis, 21, is also suspected of photographing the girl in "tempting poses" and showing the images to other people, Emerencia said.

The Kalpoe brothers and van der Sloot are also suspected of involvement in the incidents, which allegedly occurred before Holloway disappeared, she said.

Emerencia said Zedan-Arambatzis has denied having any physical contact with the girl or taking photos of her, but has admitted to being present when the photos were taken.

The prosecutor's office declined to comment on the case.

According to the book > Jacobs, VDStraten, Paulus and Joran were present for the 5/31 statement. Joran says he was surprised that Paulus asked VDStraten if he could sit on the interview, but says VDStraten had no choice in the matter because Joran was a minor. Also goes on to blame Paulus by saying this forced him to continue with the HI lie, implyng that he would have told the *truth* if just Jacobs/VDStraten were there.

Another lady from boston in like 1996.. Who was drugged with her Husband at the excelsior/HI. She was taken out to the desert and raped for 2 days while her husband was drugged and put in a closet. She told the ALE and they did nothing except tell her no big deal thats a whore house out there.(Something like that)

Beth thinks that she saw it torn up on Dennis Jacobs desk on the morney of June 1, 2005 ... when her statement was taken.

Tehran, Iran, Jan. 07 – An Iranian court has sentenced a teenage rape victim to death by hanging after she weepingly confessed that she had unintentionally killed a man who had tried to rape both her and her niece.

The state-run daily Etemaad reported on Saturday that 18-year-old Nazanin confessed to stabbing one of three men who had attacked the pair along with their boyfriends while they were spending some time in a park west of the Iranian capital in March 2005.

Nazanin, who was 17 years old at the time of the incident, said that after the three men started to throw stones at them, the two girls’ boyfriends quickly escaped on their motorbikes leaving the pair helpless.

She described how the three men pushed her and her 16-year-old niece Somayeh onto the ground and tried to rape them, and said that she took out a knife from her pocket and stabbed one of the men in the hand.

As the girls tried to escape, the men once again attacked them, and at this point, Nazanin said, she stabbed one of the men in the chest. The teenage girl, however, broke down in tears in court as she explained that she had no intention of killing the man but was merely defending herself and her younger niece from rape, the report said.

The court, however, issued on Tuesday a sentence for Nazanin to be hanged to death.

Last week, a court in the city of Rasht, northern Iran, sentenced Delara Darabi to death by hanging charged with murder when she was 17 years old. Darabi has denied the charges.

In August 2004, Iran’s Islamic penal system sentenced a 16-year-old girl, Atefeh Rajabi, to death after a sham trial, in which she was accused of committing “acts incompatible with chastity”.

The teenage victim had no access to a lawyer at any stage and efforts by her family to retain one were to no avail. Atefeh personally defended herself and told the religious judge that he should punish those who force women into adultery, not the victims. She was eventually hanged in public in the northern town of Neka.

Joran's 5/31 statement is a HUGE problem for ALE and PROS.

PVs that follow give a clear indication that Joran introduced at least part of the beach story on 5/31.

From the start ALE had a missing persons case where the last 3 people seen with the victim were lying and they knew it. A reasonable explanation as to why ALE waited 10 days to interview them, get them on record, has never been given. Because  :arrow:  it does not exist.

Not sure about a teacher but that wouldn't surprise me..I remember her family saying that they had to live there and they didnt want any problems. She was sent to a neighboring Island with the grandmother or something..

I deal with dutch people every day and they are much more open with sex and male chovanism or whatever you want to call it..We know from Joran that Holland is much stricter than Aruba..lol..The mentality towards women is definetly much diffrent not only there but in many places in the world.

I guess when you live on a tiny island filled with drugs and a corrupt govt and you are rich and connected you can do just about anything you want. I can only imagine the parties that were thrown at Lorenzo's House and the Lions Den. Who would dare speak up if there was a crime that happened at either of these places?

In another case he sites that a roaming group of youngsters have terrorised an entire area in Cas Palamos. In that case polis did nothing to disband this disruptive group of young males.
In yet another case last night polis did stop a group of youngsters who were out of control after leaving a concert for the band called of the highway in area of Boegoereio. while awaiting the arrival of more polis to the scene the youths scattered in different direction.

Joran Van Der Sloot has announced to his friends at a local college bar in Arnhem that he will indeed be a guest on the American show, “Dancing With The Stars”.

Since the release of Jorans new book,  Joran claims he has received  numerous offers to appear on American and Dutch TV programs.  Some of the American shows Mr. Van Der Sloot mentioned  include “A Simple Life” starring Paris Hilton and her friend Nicole Richey, smash hit “Survivor” and numerous MTV reality shows.

Joran stated that he choose “Dancing With The Stars” simply because he has been dancing at such Aruban Hotspots as Carlos and Charlies and Choose A Name Bar since he was 16 years old .  Joran  is certain to be the public’s favorite dancer and believes he will win the contest.

How can he write this as fact, when the only people who say she was drinking and drugging are the ones responsible for her disappearance and the cover up?  How disgusting.  You would think out of respect for a dead teen and her family,  he would at least make sure his facts are straight.

I offer it only as a current reference that is out there. He cites some newspaper reports as his source. This quote occurs in a longer discussion about the way our culture romanticizes the use of drugs and alcohol, to the point of encouraging spring breaks devoted to bingeing. It's dangerous, he's saying.

In the summer of 1971, CIA agents saw Miami Beach as a sultry U.S. stand-in for Saigon, South Vietnam. So they secretly set up an antenna on a hotel rooftop -- and field-tested then state-of-the-art eavesdropping equipment.

It was just blocks away from the Fontainebleau Hotel, where, in late 1960, a CIA operative met two mobsters to discuss killing Fidel Castro, by poisoning his food.

When the CIA opened some long-classified files last week detailing dubious 1960s and 1970s agency activities, it cast a spotlight on a murky world of domestic wiretapping, foreign assassination schemes and Mafia alliances.

But it also showed just how many of the skeletons in the spy agency's closet were buried in and around Miami.

Home to Cuban operatives of the blundered Watergate break-in and a former CIA lock picker's final resting place, retiree- and exile-rich Florida served as a CIA stomping ground -- despite rules that largely ban the foreign intelligence agency from functioning on U.S. soil.

''I'm sure there were some people that knew about [the CIA activities]. But most of the people who were active at that time are all dead,'' said Seymour Gelber, octogenarian and former mayor of Miami Beach.

Then, Gelber served as the Miami-Dade County prosecutor's security liaison to the 1968 and 1972 conventions of the Republican and Democratic parties, and Miami, he said, was ''kind of a cauldron'' with ``all the spies meeting to try to control the dissenters.''

TOP SECRET FILES

The release of declassified CIA documents last week emerged from an era of internal reckoning at the fabled spy agency after former CIA agents were found among the spooks who broke into Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate Hotel in Washington in June 1972.

A year later, CIA Director James Schlesinger sent out an agency-wide memo asking employees to report what they knew about the Watergate affair and former agents and others implicated in it. And he asked them for accounts of ``any other illegal activity in which they believe the Agency was involved in any way.''

Now called ''The Family Jewels,'' some 700 pages that emerged from that process were amassed at headquarters and stamped TOP SECRET or CONFIDENTIAL or SENSITIVE.

Yes, in capital letters.

Even with their release Tuesday, a significant chunk was still hidden. Whole pages and paragraphs were censored.

An example: On May 7, 1973, an agency employee wrote a memo whose subject line was ``Potentially Embarrassing Activities Conducted by Division D.''

When it was released Tuesday, Item 3 was censored. Entirely.

But Item 4 describes CIA technicians in the summer of 1971, during the Vietnam War, setting up an antenna on a hotel roof near the Miami Beach Convention Center to simulate spying on a ``Soviet agent in South Vietnam.''

Why? They were field-testing a new kind of monitoring device -- and muggy South Florida simulated soggy Saigon.

The pages do not name the hotel. Nor do they identify a curious desk clerk to whom the CIA agents lied when they responded affirmatively to the clerk's question asking if they were scouting security locations for the upcoming 1972 Republican and Democratic conventions to nominate their presidential candidates.

''The Secret Service had already been checking for possible sniper sites,'' said one report.

But disclosure of the intelligence could be embarrassing, the agents reported, because it might be misconstrued as related to the coming Democratic National Convention, when in fact the ``location in Miami Beach, Florida, was selected for the tests because of similarity to the actual target site and environment in Saigon.''

Miami was tropical, virtually the last stop on the edge of Latin America. In the 1960s, it had 300 to 400 agents, making it the world's largest CIA station after the headquarters in Langley, Va.

And it was awash in former operatives -- notably Cubans who had been trained and supported for the Bay of Pigs and other ill-fated covert missions.

CUBAN AGENTS

''They were certainly comfortable working in Miami,'' said John Prados of the private National Security Archive at George Washington University, which has been trying for 15 years to pry open the secrets.

``All of the Miami Cubans were their friends -- even the ones who weren't working for the agency anymore. Probably half of them had friends who had worked for the agency before.''

A few examples:

• E. Howard Hunt, the retired CIA spy master turned White House security consultant, recruited the Watergate burglars from former Cuban operatives, many from Miami.

He would later settle here, after serving 33 months in prison for conspiracy.

• Months before the Watergate break-in, according to the documents, Hunt turned to the CIA's ''External Employment Assistance Branch'' in search of a lock picker. The documents name a then recently retired 20-year CIA technician, Thomas Amato.

The Miami Herald tried to determine whether Hunt offered Amato the mission. But Hunt died in January of pneumonia -- after years of writing spy thrillers, off Biscayne Boulevard.

Also dead is the fellow named in the documents. Amato had retired to Satellite Beach, Fla., and had a heart attack in 1978.

• In 1973, the U.S. Agency for International Development, or AID, teamed up with the CIA to train foreign police forces about bomb-making. The course was conducted in Washington, D.C., and Dade County, as it was then called.

James Angleton, the legendary CIA chief of counterintelligence, wrote that, in cooperation with the Dade County Bomb Squad, ''trainees'' got hands-on experience in ``handling, preparing and applying the various explosive charges, incendiary agents, terrorist devices and sabotage techniques.''

• The documents also detail long-ago-revealed, 1960s-era consultations between the CIA and the Mafia on whether and how to assassinate Castro.

CASTRO PLOT

One such brainstorming session took place at the famed Fontainebleau Hotel on Collins Avenue, where Chicago mob leader Momo Salvatore Giancana suggested having a Cuban with U.S. sympathies slip six lethal pills into Castro's food.

That account came as no surprise last week to Fontainebleau marketing director Paul Pebley, who said mob ties and CIA intrigue are part of the lively history of a hotel that was also frequented by Frank Sinatra and his ''Rat Pack'' and served as the setting for more than a few Hollywood films.

''By its sheer size and history,'' said Pebley, ``this property has drawn a host of celebrities -- and all kinds of colorful characters.''

• In May 1973, the head of CIA logistics, John F. Blake, included a South Florida real estate transaction in a list of ``Sensitive Activities.''

``This office is aware, although it had no cognizance nor responsibility, that an apartment was rented in Miami Beach, Florida, during the period of the Democratic National Convention, 10-14 July 1972, and the Republican National Convention, 21-24 August 1972.''

The CIA's Latin American division was aware, Blake wrote, as was the Secret Service. Its precise purpose beyond ''a meeting place'' was censored. No location was provided.

There was a water main break here last night. Big flood somewhere.  No water, so I am hauling water from one of the other buildings and doing laundry over there also.
They are having an issue getting the right valve to fix.
I am not impressed withthe lack of cummication with the management of this place at the moment.
The shopping centre I live by is also affected and the place is closed.
Kids are out of town, they have water, etc, but I don't have a key this weekend. Oh well, lots of laundry getting done. Do laundry, come back with water.

I've read through all the statements this week on "Important Case Documents" and I keep seeing references to Freddy; I'm surprised he was never brought in--especially since Sander, Koen, and Jaime were questioned and seem to know less about what happened than Freddy. There are several references to Freddy being privy to both the original Holiday Inn lie, as well as the truth.

Freddy was questioned at least 7/8 times. We know that from the Dr. Phil filings and from Joran's book.

Haunting Evidence....the Natalee Holloway story....will be on Court TV at 11 p.m. EST in my area....this will be a repeat.

Evenin monkeys!  Did anybody watch the Diana concert today?   Great entertainment and lots of good groups!  It was so touching, especially when the Princes got up and spoke to 500 million people across 140 countries, which is where all it was broadcast via tv from Wibley  stadium.  Great tribute to mom.  Princess Diana would be so proud of her wonderful sons, who are just like her!

Well ... celebrations everywhere today in honor of Canada Day ... 140th Birthday. My side of the family had bbq steaks ... chicken ... hamburgers ... weiners (two bbq grills) at my brother's home. The fresh carrot cake and bean salad contribution I bought from Safeway was enjoyed by all. Discarded pakaging at home .... cake was presenting on a beautiful retangular wooden platter and ... bean salad was dumped into an original wooden serving bowl. My grown nephew said that Auntie Janet's bean salad is just the best!  :wink:   He and his wife took the leftovers home.  Various lawn games scattered throughout the property and .... a slippery plastic slide for all the grandkids.

Hubby and I just came home to clean up and rest prior to joining everyone at the fireworks display at the local golf course in a while.

I think the person at the side of the picture looks like a woman. Am I wrong? The sweater looks to have a lacy or crocheted trim, and if I'm not mistaken the person seems a bit bosomy (although it's hard to tell because his/her hands are blocking the chest area). Are we sure it's one of the pimps? Looks more like someone's mom to me.

I am watching a repeat of Haunting Evidence and I noticed the part where they said Natalee was attacked by a local boy and a man in power helped cover it up.  The local boy looked like Joran which I saw when I first saw the show.  But when they said the thing about the man in power they showed a guy answering the phone who looked just like Paulus.

Seems like they know who did something bad. I wish they would have named names and said who they suspected, dang it.

Very smart cat.  I hope the Dutch will be making arrests soon.  I love Edam and Gouda.  They are naturally low fat cheeses and don't "taste funny" when made "low fat".
