In the last thread, it has been pointed out some comments made by the 'statement analysis' guy, which I find interesting. 

What follows is kind of a 'wrap up' of his observations on that page, although reading thru the whole thing is good, to see how he reaches these points:

I have read through and compiled tweets that imply there were dynamics within the home environment which imply that Sierra's relationship with her mother was not everything that Marlene attempts to convey as well as tweets that indicate that Sierra was not happy with the move to Morgan Hill.  Logic dictates that investigators have read those same tweets yet Sgt. Jose Cardoza implies otherwise.

It appears that authorities are determined to accept the words of those closest to Sierra as the gospel truth and investigate this case as an abduction.  Unless stuff is happening behind the scene ... investigators do not seem to be considering the possibility that an out-of-controll incident happened prior to the dawning of March 16th and then a cover up involving an electronic deception (tweet/text) ... a planting of evidence (Juicy bag/cell)  and ... the disappearing of Sierra Lamar ... followed.

We can only hope that LE is working on much more behind the scenes than they indicate to the public.  Perhaps being cautious as to not let on to 'whomever' what they really are doing/thinking?  Perhaps taking the easy way out and not digging into what appears to be a cover-up.  Hope it's just them being cautious. 

And LOL as to your son.  Yeppers, I can sure relate! 

My last post should should have stated "February and March" tweets.

The Tweets?  Other than the foul language ... I am not sure how to take Sierra's words.

I think back to when my eldest son was a teenage ... eldest son who is the reason I color my grey hair every six week.  Every issue was a battle.  I am sure if words could kill .. words shared with his friends about his "controling" parents ... my hubby and I would have been pushing up daisies long ago.  However ... eldest son eventually matured and grew a brain and ... was redeemed when he afforded his parents a lovely DIL and two beautiful grandkids.  Unlike Sierra ... the words of his youth never return to haunt him.  Why?  When he was a teenager there was no Twitter ... no social media.

Sierra was upset to be moving away from her close friends at Washington High School, where she was a cheerleader and involved in competitive dance, to Sobrato High School -- where she knew no one.

Specialized search and rescue teams skilled at navigating rough terrain will conduct a daylong search Saturday in southern Santa Clara County for missing Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said it will lead a "refined" search of areas of Morgan Hill, San Martin, and Gilroy, beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting until sunset.

Sheriff's deputies have previously checked the hills and rural areas on dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles.

"This time they will be having foot searches, climbing some of these rough areas," said Sgt. Jose Cardoza of the sheriff's office.

So far, the search efforts have expanded to no more than 12 miles radius of where Sierra was last seen at her home in Morgan Hill, Cardoza said.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office will be assisted by search and rescue teams from the San Mateo County, Monterey County, Santa Cruz County, and Marin County sheriff's offices.

About 90 sworn law enforcement officers will take place in Saturday's search, as well as specially trained detection dogs and the sheriff's off-road enforcement unit.

MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- Biggest Missing Person Search Executed in Morgan Hill. More than 100 deputies searched parts of Morgan Hill and Gilroy with helicopters, dirt bikes, K-9 units and search teams on foot.

Search & Rescue Director Jeff Thomas says today's search is much more difficult. "The terrain today is more steep than in the past we're not searching on the flatlands very much today," said Thomas. Deputies say search crews are equipped with gear to climb up steep cliffs and trails. "We're going to be going down into the creek searching both sides of the creek and heading east of the creek," said rescue workers.

The huge search has been in the works for a few weeks now but deputies kept their lips sealed as to why. They've been staying within a 12 mile radius near the spot Sierra was last seen but on Saturday they headed more South into Gilroy.
 
While it's the 5th week deputies have spent searching for Sierra they keeping getting new information that keeps leading them to go out looking for her. "We continue to look because we continue to find new things there are areas we're not willing to let go of that we want to increase the coverage on," said Thomas.

Her tweets are so disturbing!  The anger and hatred at her mother is palpable.  I wonder who she is speaking of when she writes about a cabin full of psychos?

Although the disappearance on the morning of March 16 of the outgoing 15-year-old with a passion for cheerleading, rap music, Twitter and the color pink has drawn sympathy coast to coast, little has emerged from the investigation to unravel the mystery of where she is. Detectives on the case are quietly putting the scattered pieces of evidence together like a problematic jigsaw puzzle, revealing little except to the girl's family.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said that's simply how it does business. The agency does not provide details as they come up because detectives aren't sure how important each detail is, where it might lead them or what might happen, says department spokesman Sgt. Jose Cardoza. There's no telling what Sierra's kidnappers, if there are any, or reluctant witnesses might do if they knew how close investigators were getting.

Volunteers fanned out in Santa Clara Saturday in another search for missing Morgan Hill teen, Sierra LaMar.

Peggy Thompson of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office sloshed through Coyote Creek trying to catch a scent, hoping to turn up new clues in the search for LaMar.

"We've had a lot of poison oak, ticks," Thompson said. "They've seen three rattlesnakes already today."

They joined more than 100 search and rescue team members from around the bay.

Their mission was to hit hard to reach areas like hillsides and rock formations between Morgan Hill and Gilroy.

"We have searched in past, but didn't focus too much on areas outside the flatlands," said Sgt. Jose Cardoza, of Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

At the volunteer center, more than 80 first timers joined many more returning volunteers.

Considering I have not yet bowed in regards to a cell phone and ... considering I do not have asthma ... I do not have a clue whether Sierra would have taken a charger and an inhaler to school each day.

I have a teenager with asthma - he never took his charger for his cell unless he was going to be gone for the night and he only took his inhaler if he was having problems. I know some people carry them all the time, but he did not have severe asthma so he only did when he was having problems. Most schools will not allow the kids to carry them unless they have a doc note saying they must have them. Mom, in this case, seems to be pretty lazy - not sure she would have gone and gotten the note to allow SL to have it with her in school.

Wyks, I am 'friends' with many of my nieces and nephews on facebook.  I have a lot of them, kids I call nieces and nephews are really 5th cousins.  There are times I will question a child about something they posted.  It appears they are distraught, etc.  I ask them, what is wrong, next thing I know, I get a lol, Aunt Bearly, that is the name of a movie or lyrics to a song, etc.  I will never stop asking, I was glad to be there for nieces of mine (they are my girlfriend's kids--see what I mean about a lot of relatives not closely related?).  They came to me, rather than went to kids their age and told me things that were on their minds, they knew I would be cool enough about things (not their parent), but not cool enough to let them do anything that would get them in trouble or be dangerous (not their peer, either). 

My son's first teacher told me that it was important, since no one can do it all, to have someone (or more) that were able to step in and do things that I could not.  Some kids don't have that.  How can we really tell what is a movie title or song phrase unless we ask them?  Singing about them hurting, hurting themselves and/or others is part of so many things they see/hear.  Even if it is merely part of a song, why are they singing it so much?  How can anyone know what she was thinking unless she had an adult she trusted that communicated with her? 

It is so very hard to have a relationship and children at the same time, especially now when our families live so far from each other.  Who was there for Sierra?  That is who will know.  When she moved, was she separated from her 'safe' person/people?  I am talking about a friend's Mom or another adult that is not responsible for her, but that has good sense and she can talk to.  My Grandparents and several of my friend's parents were there for me.

What about the elusive Rick Gardiner who lived under the same roof as the missing Sierra Lamar?

America's Most Wanted to Feature Sierra LaMar

AMW has already featured the case once, but producers said they wanted to be able to air a more in-depth piece set for next Friday's episode on Lifetime. (Fox no longer carries AMW).

"We wanted to get it on as quickly as we learned about it so we did just do one short story, but we felt this was a story that warranted more attention. Especially since it has gone on for so long that this child has been missing," AMW producer Jocelyn Sigue said.

AMW is spending several days gathering interviews for next week's episode.

On Sunday they sat down with with the KlaasKids foundation and went along with the weekend search team.

On Tuesday, Sierra's father, Steve LaMar, flew to Los Angeles with AMW's famed host Bill Walsh.

The crew also sat down for a interview with Sierra's mother Marlene LaMar.  They will finish up the production of the piece Thursday with an interview with Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith

Justice for Sierra demands that ALL avenues of investigation are travelled.  Embracing only the words of those closest to Sierra as the gospel truth is a betrayal to those who prayerfully and monetarily support the search effort ... a betrayal to all the volunteer searchers ... a betrayal to each California taxpayer ... a betrayal to all those who sacrificially donate their hard earned bucks to provide a "safe return" reward fund and ... ABOVE ALL ... a betrayal of Sierra Lamar.
 
Could it be that that 1 1/2 months later ... the time has come for FBI intervention?

In the wake of a high-profile missing teenager case, the Morgan Hill Unified School District this week started telling parents in the morning, as well as the evening, if their children don't show up to class, according to the Mercury News.

The district's automatic calling system will notify parents of any unexcused absences at 10:30 a.m., according to the newspaper, in addition to the previous 6 p.m. notification.

Where is the incentive for a witness who up until now has chosen to remain silent/elusive ... for someone who has knowledge and/or ... for someone who was involved to a lesser capacity in wrongdoing regarding the happenings encompassing the disappearing of Sierra ... to step forward with the truth.  A plea deal in exchange for the truth may imply immunity from prosecution.

One of the country’s best-known crime fighters and victims’ advocates hopes to find Sierra LaMar by bringing prolonged national attention to the teen who remains missing after six weeks.

And while television crews from John Walsh’s “America’s Most Wanted” were in Morgan Hill this week shooting for the upcoming episode that will feature the missing 15-year-old, local residents remain steadfast in their efforts to find her and raise money for the Sierra LaMar Fund.

The AMW episode featuring Sierra is scheduled to air 9 p.m. May 11 on Lifetime, according to producer Jocelyn Sigue. The subject of missing children is one that’s “dear” to Walsh, the show’s host and creator whose own son Adam Walsh was abducted and murdered in 1981.

“He has stood in the shoes of the parents,” Sigue said while her crew shot scenes of the field near Sierra’s north Morgan Hill where her cell phone was found by investigators the day after she was reported missing.

Sierra’s father, Steve LaMar, flew to Los Angeles to shoot an interview with Walsh earlier this week. On Wednesday, Sigue and her crew filmed an interview with Sierra’s mother, Marlene LaMar, at her home near Palm and Dougherty avenues.

Investigators this week will expand their search for missing Morgan Hill teenager Sierra LaMar by diving into waters in South San Jose.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office also announced Monday that while interviewing registered sex offenders in search of clues in the case, they discovered five of them had violated the terms of their registration. All five people, who live in southern Santa Clara County, were arrested on charges unrelated to the Sierra case.

Authorities probing the disappearance of a 15-year-old California girl said Monday they're looking for a vehicle they believe is connected to the teenager's abduction.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office released a photo of a 1990s red Volkswagen Jetta that's similar to a car linked to the kidnapping of Sierra LaMar, who has been missing for nearly two months.

Investigators said they believe the girl was snatched early March 16 while walking to a bus stop near her home in Morgan Hill, Calif.

Sheriff's Sgt. Jose Cardoza said the red sedan being sought has a black hood. Police said the vehicle was spotted at the time and place where LaMar disappeared, though it is not known if the girl was riding inside it, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

"It's more than a coincidence," Cardoza told the newspaper. Information on the vehicle was reportedly gathered from witness accounts and surveillance video.

Meanwhile, crime lab technicians continue to analyze possible evidence found during searches for Sierra.

Cardoza said they've determined a handcuff box and used condoms found within a mile-and-a-half of her home are not associated with the case.

However, Cardoza said it is not known whether Sierra was actually riding inside the vehicle, for which investigators do not have a license plate number.

Also, forensic tests have officially ruled out any connection between their case and an empty handcuff box and used condoms found within a mile of where the 15-year-old vanished, the Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators were already doubtful about its relevance to the teen's disappearance near Palm and Doughterty avenues in unincorporated Morgan Hill when the discovery was made March 29. It had been the most significant find since her Samsung cellphone and Juicy-brand handbag were recovered at separate spots on Santa Teresa Boulevard the weekend after she disappeared.

The agency said it is hopeful that other forensic work will yield more leads in the case.

Investigators who have been combing Morgan Hill and Gilroy for Sierra Lamar identified a suspect vehicle on Monday.
Whoever abducted the 15-year-old girl while she was walking to her school bus stop nearly two months ago was driving a four-door 1990s Volkswagen Jetta, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. The Jetta is bright red with a black hood.

"Witnesses, combined with investigative review of video surveillance, have identified a vehicle similar to the make and model below as being associated to Sierra’s disappearance," Sheriff's Sgt. Jose Cardoza said.

Her cellphone and purse were found on the side of the road a few blocks from her mother's house the following day. Tracking dogs lost Sierra's scent at the end of her driveway.

Investigators did not say how many people were in the car, possibly including Sierra.

A day after posting a likeness to a red car possibly linked to the disappearance of Sierra LaMar, the Santa Clara County Sheriff on Tuesday said detectives actually have the Jetta in their custody.

Just how the Volkswagen Jetta with the black hood is linked to the March 16 disappearance of the Morgan Hill girl is unclear.

"We're not saying when and where we found it," Sgt. Jose Cardoza said. He added that the discovery was "pretty significant," and that there was no reason not to believe that the teen was still alive despite the fact that she's been gone for more than eight weeks.

A Santa Clara County sheriff's spokesman said Wednesday the department's dive team is searching "small ponds and waterways" in an unincorporated area of South San Jose in its search for evidence in the case of missing 15-year-old Sierra LaMar.

The announcement comes one day after officials located a red Volkswagen Jetta believed to be connected to her March 16 abduction. The mid-1990s four-door sedan with a black hood had been spotted on numerous surveillance videos near Sierra's Morgan Hill home the morning she disappeared, said Sheriff's Sgt. Jose Cardoza.

The car also appeared in videos taken in the area where the cheerleader's purse and school books were recovered a few days later. Its occupants were not visible on the videos, said Cardoza, who declined to disclose how or where the car was found.

"Investigators do have the vehicle in their custody but are asking the public to report any sightings of this vehicle and/or occupants during the time surrounding Sierra’s disappearance," Cardoza said in a statement Tuesday. "The sheriff’s office is specifically interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen this vehicle or had contact with the occupant(s) during the month of March within Santa Clara County or bordering counties."
Sierra's cellphone was also located the day after her disappearance -- in the opposite direction from the school bus stop where police believe she was headed. A massive community search effort has been underway in Morgan Hill, south of San Jose.

A red Volkswagen Jetta connected to the disappearance of 15-year-old Sierra LaMar is now in custody of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s department.

Authorities found the mid-90s four door red sedan with a black hood after releasing pictures of a similar vehicle on Monday, according to Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jose Cardoza.  However, investigators are not disclosing specifics of how they identified the car and its connection to the case.

The vehicle came to the attention of authorities after it was captured on multiple surveillance videos in the area of the missing cheerleader’s Morgan Hill, Calif., home and the area where authorities recovered the teen’s belongings. Sgt. Cardoza said investigators have been unable to recognize specific person(s) in the vehicle from the videos.

With the vehicle is in custody, authorities are asking the public to report any sightings of the vehicle and/or possible occupants at the time of the girl’s disappearance. They are interested in speaking to anyone who may have come in contact with the car or occupants  in the month of March.

Volunteers from across the Bay Area made their way to Morgan Hill Wednesday for a weekly search for clues in the disappearance of 15-year-old Sierra LaMar.

The search center had a few extra video cameras on hand, though, thanks to a visit by the national crime show, "America's Most Wanted."

AMW has already featured the case once, but producers said they wanted to be able to air a more in-depth piece set for a Friday episode on Lifetime. (Fox no longer carries AMW).

"We wanted to get it on as quickly as we learned about it so we did just do one short story, but we felt this was a story that warranted more attention. Especially since it has gone on for so long that this child has been missing," AMW producer Jocelyn Sigue said.

AMW is spending several days gathering interviews for next week's episode. 

On Sunday they sat down with with the KlaasKids foundation and went along with the weekend search team.

On Tuesday, Sierra's father, Steve LaMar, flew to Los Angeles with AMW's famed host John Walsh.

The crew also sat down for a interview with Sierra's mother Marlene LaMar.  They will finish up the production of the piece Thursday with an interview with Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith.

Sigue said the interviews included tough questions for family members.

Several photographs of the vehicle, snapped by video surveillance cameras monitoring public and residential areas were released by the sheriff’s office this week as well.

But investigators are keeping quiet on the details of the vehicle, and Cardoza declined to say whether or not they have found evidence in or on the car that places Sierra inside it after she was kidnapped March 16.

Other information including where the car was found and when, who it is registered to, where it was photographed, and whether or not investigators have been able to gather any useful evidence from the vehicle.

Tonight at 9 p.m. on the Lifetime network, the television show “America’s Most Wanted” will air a segment on Sierra. A producer and crew from the show were in Morgan Hill in late April shooting interviews with Sierra’s parents, as well as other footage for the show.

Sierra’s father, Steve LaMar, flew to Los Angeles that week for an interview with the show’s founder and host, John Walsh.

There is no likely connection between the red car associated with the kidnapping of Sierra LaMar and a vehicle reported in relation to similar attempts in other communities, authorities said.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office reported earlier this week they have recovered a 90s-model, red four-door Volkswagen Jetta with a black hood, and are asking witnesses who might have seen the car in the area before, during or after March 16 to come forward and tell investigators.

The car is linked to Sierra’s disappearance by other witness statements and public video surveillance cameras, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Jose Cardoza.

Witnesses and authorities investigating two other recent attempted kidnappings of female victims reported similar-looking vehicles driven by the suspects. Those incidents happened in San Jose and Walnut Creek, but Cardoza said “at this time” there is no apparent link with Sierra’s case or the car allegedly used in her kidnapping.

MORGAN HILL (KRON) -- Forensic experts continue to scour a red Volkswagon Jetta with a black hood named as an important clue in the search for missing teenager Sierra Lamar.

Now KRON 4 News has learned authorities had the car in question in impound even before they put out an alert asking for the public's held in finding it.

"This red Jetta was known to investigators early on in the investigation at the end of March," Santa Clara County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jose Cardoza tells KRON 4's Terisa Estacio.  "There are other vehicles that we knew of at the time that were seen by a witness or the surveillance video that we obtained that were also in the area.  It wasn't until recently, the last couple of weeks based on some re-interviews and some tips and leads that came in that really piqued the detectives' interest.  They believed this red Jetta was associated."

What vehicles have a connection to Marlene, Steve and the elusive Rick.  In the process of elimination ... were respective vehicles siezed.  Were vehicles forensically search?  Were poiice canine used in vehicle searches?

Could it be that no vehicles with a connection to Marlene, Steve and the elusive Rick were seized?  Could it be that those closest to Sierra were afforded passes as persons of interest.

NOBODY other than Marlene ... possibly the elusive Rick ... has stated that Sierra was alive and well on the Morning of March 16th and .... NOBODY has come forward and stated that Sierra was observed leaving the home.

Santa Clara investigators announced they are seeking murder and kidnapping charges against a 21-year-old Morgan Hill man arrested Monday evening in connection with the disappearance of 15-year-old Sierra LaMar, who was last seen on March 16.

"Detectives believe (Antolin) Garcia-Torres is responsible for Sierra LaMar's disappearance," states a news release.

It says Garcia-Torres was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on one count of murder and one count of kidnapping.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office previously announced that a red Volkswagen Jetta may be connected to the case, and according to KTVU-2, Garcia-Torres is the owner of the car, which was seized on May 8.

KTVU reports that Garcia-Torres was arrested around 6 p.m. at a Safeway store on Tenant Avenue in Morgan Hill, where he worked.

A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the disappearance of Sierra LaMar, the 15-year-old South Bay girl who has been missing since March, authorities said Monday.

Antolin Garcia-Torres, 21, of San Martin was booked at Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of murder and kidnapping, said sheriff's Sgt. Jose Cardoza. He would not elaborate, but in announcing the murder arrest investigators have all but confirmed that Sierra is dead.

Garcia-Torres owns a red Volkswagen Jetta seized by sheriff's investigators looking into Sierra's disappearance, KTVU-TV reported, citing sources close to the investigation.

Sheriff's officials declined comment Monday night and a news conference was scheduled for Tuesday morning. Relatives of Sierra were to be there.

In a statement, Cardoza said, "Detectives believe Garcia-Torres is responsible for Sierra LaMar's disappearance."

The suspect attended Central High School in Morgan Hill and does not have a serious criminal history except for a 2009 arrest for resisting arrest, the television station reported. He had worked at a Safeway store on Tennant Avenue in Morgan Hill where he was arrested at about 6 p.m.

On May 7, sheriff's investigators released a photograph of a red VW Jetta and asked the public if anyone had seen the car around the time Sierra disappeared on March 16. A day later, authorities acknowledged that they already had the car in custody but were still seeking tips.

Cardoza has said that investigators had focused on the car because of witnesses' descriptions and from viewing surveillance video from homes, businesses and buses in Sierra's neighborhood.

The Jetta was seen in the general area of where Sierra lives near Morgan Hill and where her belongings were found after she vanished, Cardoza said.

Her mother, Marlene LaMar, said she last saw Sierra at home about 6 a.m. March 16 before the girl was to leave to catch a bus to school at nearby Palm and Dougherty avenues.

A day later, search teams found her cell phone off the side of the road near Santa Teresa Boulevard and Scheller Avenue, in the opposite direction of the bus stop. The day after that, they found her Juicy Couture-brand purse near Santa Teresa and Laguna Avenue, a short distance from where her phone was found.

Inside were a neatly folded pair of pants, undergarments and a gray San Jose Sharks sweatshirt her family believes she may have been wearing the day she disappeared. DNA evidence found on the clothing linked Garcia-Torres to the case, KTVU reported.

Also found near the bag were Sierra's schoolbooks, Sheriff Laurie Smith said. The purse and books were "wedged between a building and big cactus" or bush, Smith said.

"Hopefully it will bring us closer to Sierra," said Marc Klaas, who heads the KlaasKids Foundation and has organized numerous searches for Sierra.

"What they've said is they've made an arrest, but they haven't said whether they've recovered Sierra," said Klaas, whose 12-year-old daughter, Polly, was kidnapped and killed by career criminal Richard Allen Davis in 1993. "We should be cautious because we don't have proof one way or another" as to whether Sierra is alive, he said.

Volunteers and sheriff's officials have continuously searched the fields, open spaces and reservoirs near Morgan Hill since her disappearance. The KlaasKids Foundation, founded by Marc Klaas, whose 12-year-old daughter Polly was kidnapped from her Petaluma home and murdered in 1993, has been organizing volunteer searches on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Investigators found Sierra's handbag with clothing and a cellphone along the side of the road near her home on March 17, the day after Sierra's mother reported her missing.

Earlier this month, investigators located a red Volkswagen Jetta they said may have been connected to Sierra's abduction given that surveillance cameras and witnesses put the car near the area where authorities believe she disappeared.

Sheriff's officials have released few details about leads in the case, including what, if any, evidence they found in the car.

MORGAN HILL, Calif –  A 21-year-old man has been arrested and booked on suspicion of murder and kidnapping in the case of a missing California teen, Fox affiliate KTVU reports. 

21-year-old Antolin Garcia-Torres was arrested late Monday in the case of 15-year-old Sierra LaMar, who vanished March 16 from Morgan Hill. KTVU reports Garcia-Torres was arrested at the Safeway store in Morgan Hill where he is an employee.

Garcia-Torres, a resident of nearby San Martin, is the owner of the red Jetta that authorities seized on May 8th in connection with the case. A source tells KTVU authorities found DNA evidence that links Garcia-Torres to clothing found in the missing girl's backpack, which was recovered after she vanished.

Authorities told KTVU Garcia-Torres had been under 24-hour surveillance since he was identified as a possible suspect at both his home and at the Safeway store. A source tells the station Garcia-Torres was questioned for over two hours Monday.

The suspect attended Central High School in Morgan Hill and does not have a serious criminal history except for a 2009 arrest for resisting arrest, the television station reported. He had worked at a Safeway store on Tennant Avenue in Morgan Hill  where he was arrested at about 6 p.m.

More than two months after Bay Area teenager Sierra LaMar disappeared on her way to school, investigators said they have “a lot of physical evidence” linking her to a man arrested on suspicion of murder and kidnapping.

Antolin Garcia-Torres, 21, was taken into custody Monday at a Safeway in Morgan Hill, Santa Clara Sheriff Laurie Smith told reporters.

“We believe we have probable cause that he committed the kidnapping and murder of Sierra LaMar,” Smith said.

Garcia-Torres owns the red Volkswagen Jetta previously sought by authorities in connection to the case, the San Jose Mercury News reported. The car was found May 8.

Smith said Garcia-Torres had been under surveillance but did not elaborate. More information about the case is expected to be revealed at a Tuesday morning news conference.

Absolutely.  Thanks to the great work by LE.  I too hope he starts talking...if he hasn't already.  He seems rather cocky.

From what I'm reading, I get the impression that he was arrested because LE thought he might take another girl.  Almost sounds like he was trolling.  I'm thinking he had noticed Sierra and started watching her.  He had to have known her habits to have picked the perfect time to snatch her when she was home alone and no one in the neighborhood was around to see anything. 

As for the friends comments about what a great guy he is...well, this wouldn't be the first time a 'great' guy proved to be a real sociopath.

Once LE finds Sierra, they need to escort this young lady to the site and give her a good look at what she was lucky enough to not have a attracted.  He could've very easily have taken notice of her during one of the chats.  She's too naive for her own good.

Yep, exactly what I am thinking.  I do not believe that this is his first kidnapping...or at least attempted.  Also, true in regards to "nice" guys or "great" guys being capable of things like this...I tell my kids...never be too cautious...even the devil can be "nice."  I probably scare the crud out of them.  But, I had rather them be scared and alive...than too trusting and be placed in a bad situation.

I am watching press conf right now.  Suspect has been under 24 hr surv for about one month and they took him in I think she said because he looked like he might have been getting ready to assault another.  Those are my words and you will have to watch to see exact wording.  His DNA is on clothing found in bag and that is why Mom was so hinky on her tell of that am I believe.

A 21-year-old former Safeway employee, the owner of a vehicle seen near where Morgan Hill’s Sierra LaMar disappeared, has been arrested in the kidnapping and murder of the teenage girl.

Antolin Garcia-Torres was arrested Monday evening at the Safeway store in Morgan Hill where he once worked and transported to Santa Rita Jail, Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith said.

He lived near the LaMar home, but authorities would not say if the two knew each. A source told KTVU he had been linked to the disappearance not only by his red Jetta, but also by DNA evidence found in LaMar’s abandoned backpack.

Santa County Sheriff Laurie Smith said direct and circumstantial evidence leads her office to believe missing teen Sierra LaMar is dead, and that a 21-year-old Morgan Hill man is her killer.

Antolin Garcia-Torres was booked Monday night into Santa Clara County Jail on one count of murder and one count of kidnapping after being taken in custody hours earlier at a Safeway in Morgan Hill.

Smith said from March 28 on, Garcia-Torres was under 24-hour surveillance, hoping they would find Sierra. She said early on her office had many suspects, but right now she believes only person responsible for the kidnap and murder of Sierra, Garcia-Torres.

Sheriff: DNA linked missing CA teen to suspect

MORGAN HILL, Calif. (AP) — A 21-year-old man in custody was linked to the kidnapping and murder of a missing teenager by DNA evidence found her bag, authorities said Tuesday.

Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith said Antolin Garcia-Torres's DNA was found inside a bag belonging to Sierra LaMar. Smith said it appeared to be a random act of violence.

Garcia-Torres was arrested Monday on suspicion of murder and kidnapping of Sierra, whose disappearance more than two months ago prompted hundreds of volunteers to turn out for organized searches.

Sierra hasn't been seen or heard from since she left her home in Morgan Hill to go to school on March 16. Authorities believe she was kidnapped while walking to a bus stop.

Smith said Garcia-Torres had been under 24-hour surveillance since March 28 and that evidence also linked him to at least one assault in March 2009.

"We believe this is the worst kind of crime, a stranger abducting a young girl," she said.

Investigators found Sierra's handbag with clothing and a cellphone along the side of the road near her home on March 17, the day after Sierra's mother reported her missing.

Sheriff: Slaying of South Bay girl 'purely random'


DNA found on discarded clothes belonging to Sierra LaMar linked 21-year-old Antolin Garcia-Torres to the girl's March disappearance and apparent slaying, Sheriff Laurie Smith said at a news conference.

She would not specify the nature of the DNA, but said it was not blood. The girl's body has not been found, but Smith said "direct and circumstantial evidence, including forensic evidence, have contributed to our belief that Sierra is a victim of murder."

"We have evidence that leads us to believe and we have probable cause to believe that he has committed the murder and kidnapping. We are charging him with murder,” Smith said. “It's very, very difficult to come to that position where we believe that she is dead."

Smith revealed that Garcia-Torres has been under constant surveillance by law enforcement since March 28th when investigators received forensic evidence  .

”We had hoped he would lead us to Sierra,” she told reporters.

Authorities also studied video surveillance video from cameras located in the area and reviewed eyewitness reports to determine that the red Jetta with a distinctive black hood owned by Garcia-Torres was in LaMar’s neighborhood at the time of the disappearance.

Deputies impounded the car on April 7th and a forensic team searched it for clues.

Garcia-Torres was booked into Santa Clara County jail on one count of murder and one count of kidnapping.

Police believe 15-year-old Sierra was murdered, although her body and a murder weapon have not yet been recovered. Detectives do not know how long she was alive after she was abducted.

Smith said Garcia-Torres was linked to three attempted assaults on women in Morgan Hill in March 2009. In all three incidents, the would-be victims were able to escape.

Garcia-Torres was previously arrested on a felony assault charge that was not prosecuted and was convicted on a misdemeanor charge of interfering with a police officer, according to Smith.

I appreciate that LE wanted to keep the community safe and invested resources to do that.  We don't always see that in these cases so I feel gratitude that they saw value in it.  I also appreciate that the speaker at the news conference was honest and forthright without revealing too much.  She shared the concerns of their department and took us on the journey they've been traveling the last few months. 

Mostly I wish for this broken family to find healing.  Though Sierra's mom appears stoic, I can see that she has not allowed herself to fully take in what has happened and she's afraid of going there emotionally.  I'm praying that she and Sierra's father, sister, and stepfather are able to continue to experience life and find happiness when this nightmare is over.

May the perpetrator get exactly what he deserves.

"As I was walking to my car I felt something wasn't right," said one of the victims.

She has asked ABC7 to remain anonymous, but was willing to tell her story. Just four days ago, she ran for her life. The victim was walking to her car at around 11 p.m. in the Safeway parking lot on East Dunne Avenue in Morgan Hill, when she realized a man was chasing after her.

"I just threw myself in the car. I could just see his shadow overtaking the car and he was running. And I just slammed on the locks with my fist and right after I did that, he grabbed onto the handle and he was trying to get in. And I sped away," said the victim.

But 25 minutes later, the same man managed to get into the unlocked car of a woman parked at the Safeway on Tennant Station. Police say he hit her repeatedly in the head before Tasing her twice with a stun gun.

Luckily, a man parked nearby came to help. When he heard her screaming for help, he drove up next to her vehicle and shined his lights in the car which startled the suspect and caused him to leave.

Police have no idea what the suspect's ultimate objective was. He is believed to be in his 20s, about 5'10" tall and weighs 200 pounds.

Police notified other agencies and haven't heard of any similar stories, but they fear the suspect will strike again, which is why they want women to be on alert.

An international news agency is reporting Joran Van Der Sloot is a suspect in the murder of a 21 year old woman in Peru. Van Der Sloot was the prime suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba five years ago.  According to BNO News the victim in this new case is Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez who was found dead this morning after disappearing Friday. Her family says she was last seen leaving a casino with Van Der Sloot.

Sierra LaMar's Purse, Clothing Found

Cardoza said a pair of pants, a shirt, a bra and a pair of underwear were neatly folded inside a Juicy brand purse. It was not clear if they were the clothes Sierra put on the morning she was last seen or if they were something she brought along with her. He said they contained no forensic evidence that pointed to a crime or a person of interest in the case. They said they did not release the information earlier because they were waiting on forensic evidence analysis.

It's curious that the perp neatly folded Sierra's clothes then placed them within close proximity of her home and area of abduction.  I always wonder what goes on in the mind of a criminal.  Was there a part of him that wanted to be caught?  Was he playing cat and mouse with investigators and arrogantly thought they could not catch him?  Was there some part of him that prized Sierra or found her endearing and so he handled her belongings accordingly? 

I can see him now, taking a young girl to the dairy cooler so she can discuss her problems, meanwhile he's fanatsizing about the evil drives that are within him.   ::MonkeyMad::

Has his address been released yet?  I wonder if the volunteer searchers stumbled upon him during their own door to door questioning?  It was posted a ways back.  I did find two homes listed with the name Torres in Morgan Hill...but, they aren't that close to Sierra.  Jerome St and Shadow Dance Dr.

The sheriff's office previously announced that a red Volkswagen Jetta with a black hood may be connected to the case, and according to authorities, Garcia-Torres is the owner of the car, which was seized on May 8.

Kenneth Piccolo, a former English teacher for Antolin Garcia-Torres at Central Continuation High School, said he remembers Garcia-Torres' Jetta.

"My car has a black hood too, and we joked about it," Piccolo said. "You don't put two and two together and think, that's Antolin's car."

"I'm in total shock right now," Piccolo said. "We never thought he was a criminal or a troublemaker."

Piccolo described Garcia-Torres as "always respectful, very polite," and a "bigger than life presence on campus; very social." He didn't graduate because he didn't all his work, not for lack of intelligence, he said.

I would like to know why he did that too...the fact that he folded them neatly (yet, apparently left DNA evidence) has peaked my interest from the beginning.  This also says to me this is not his first murder...I could be wrong...often am.

Garcia-Torres' family defended him.

"It's not him," sister Lucero Garcia said. She added she knows how it sounds when the family members of accused criminals speak up on their behalf, but "I honestly feel they don't have enough evidence to convict him."

Despite Smith's announcement, Marlene LaMar said her family has not given up hope her 15-year-old daughter will be found alive.

"We continue to pray until she is found," LaMar said. "Our search is not going to end. As a mother I'm hopeful. Her body has not been found and that gives me hope."

I sincerely try but I cannot feel compassion for Sierra's father.  He is a RSO ... a RSO who may not have taken the life of the victim who exposed him for what he is but ... the killing of the spirit through the selfish acting out of his perverted desires emotionally scars both his victim and parents/family for a lifetime.  As sex offenders seldom act out in a vacuum ... could it be there are other victims in Steve's past who have yet to muster up the courage/strength to come forward?

The tears?  The anguish?  Those who sexually offend chlldren are master manipulators/deceivers who lack a conscience.  That is the reason they have the ability to gain both the trust and silence of their victims.

Isovet Martinez, Lucero Garcia boyfriend, said authorities are pointing at Garcia-Torres "because of his image, but image isn't anything." He said Garcia's family feel sorry for Sierra's family and send them their best wishes.

Garcia-Torres has a wife and 1-1/2-year-old daughter, and his wife is three months pregnant, his sister said.

Garcia-Torres attended a Morgan Hill continuation school, Central High School. He lives in a trailer park in the city with his mother, wife and 18-month-old child, neighbors said. Several "Missing" fliers of Sierra are taped around the park, including one on a lamp post 25 yards from Garcia-Torres' home.

The Garcia-Torres property is strewn with garbage, baby strollers and sippy cups.

The suspect's mother, Laura Torres, arrived home from her night shift as a nurse at a convalescent home to find reporters waiting near her trailer.

She said she spoke to her son Monday night and was distraught about his arrest.

"He said, 'Don't worry about me, mom. I am going to be OK,' " Torres said. "I told my son, 'Well, if you didn't do it, you don't have anything to worry about.' "

She added, "He would say, "Mom, I have never seen that lady,' " referring to Sierra.

Torres said her son was "always quiet, always respectful, always close to me. It is unbelievable that this is happening to him. I feel like all of this is wrong. ... What parent wants to believe their son did something wrong?"

Garcia-Torres' father is in jail in Santa Clara County and his brother recently died in Mexico after a life of drinking and drug abuse, Torres said.

Elizabeth Ruano, 19, who lives in the trailer next door, said police had searched the property a few weeks ago.

She said Garcia-Torres and his family are quiet and keep to themselves. However, that was not the case with Garcia-Torres' previous home.

Before moving to the trailer park, Garcia-Torres and his family were thrown out of a Morgan Hill farmhouse in the summer of 2010 for keeping pit bulls on the property and allowing non-tenants to stay there, their landlord said. She spoke on condition of anonymity, saying she feared for her safety.

"They were the nightmare that never ended," the landlord said.

Garcia-Torres has a misdemeanor conviction for "interfering with an officer" and a separate felony arrest for assault, for which he was not prosecuted, the sheriff said.

Garcia-Torres is believed to be linked to a 2009 assault in Morgan Hill, Smith said. She did not specify whether that was the case in which he was arrested

A man was in custody Tuesday on suspicion of murder and kidnapping after his DNA was found in the bag of a missing girl whose abduction was believed to be a random act of violence, authorities said.

Garcia-Torres, also of Morgan Hill, had been under 24-hour surveillance since March 28. His vehicle was seized on April 7. The DNA evidence used to arrest him also links him to at least one assault in March 2009, Smith said.

Authorities had other suspects under surveillance while investigating the disappearance of Sierra but focused on Garcia-Torres after authorities interviewed him several times prior to his arrest at a supermarket where he used to work, Smith said.

"Right now, we believe he is the only person responsible for the kidnapping and murder of Sierra," Smith said. "These are very difficult cases to prosecute a homicide when you have not found the victim, but it has been done and I think we have adequate facts, in fact, strong facts to believe that she has been murdered."

Garcia-Torres wasn't arrested after his DNA first surfaced in March for numerous reasons, including the possibility that he might lead authorities to Sierra, Rode said.

"At some point, I'm sure he became aware that we were watching him," Rode said, noting that they monitored Garcia-Torres going to work, at home and hanging out with friends.

Garcia-Torres' arrest came after lab results determined Sierra's DNA was in his car, Rode said.

"You don't want to lose him, but at what point in time do you risk having him flee and leave the state and possibly the country?" Rode said. "We did not want to take that chance."

Garcia-Torres could be arraigned as soon as Thursday.

In May 2009, police reports show that Garcia-Torres was arrested for obstructing justice when Morgan Hill police arrived at his former home looking for a probationer believed to be living there. Garcia-Torres repeatedly cursed at officers and told them to leave. Later, while being held in a town jail cell awaiting booking, he reportedly overflowed the cell's toilet and engraved graffiti into a bench. Police added a charge of vandalism and he was sentenced to 10 days in jail and one year probation.

In June 2010, he was arrested on suspicion of felony battery by sheriff's deputies after allegedly punching a tenant who owed his mother rent, according to the report. Charges were never filed in that case.

Who is Antolin Garcia-Torres?


Antolin Garcia-Torres' mother, Laura Torres, sobbed outside her home at Maple Leaf RV Park when she thought about her son being taken away and charged with the murder of 15-year-old Sierra LaMar, a crime she is certain he didn't commit.

“I'm the mom, I know when my sons are in trouble. And he wasn't in trouble,” Torres said, wiping tears from her puffy eyes. “He was at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Torres described her son as the kind of father who cooked for his wife after a long day at work, and who changed his 20-month-old daughter's diaper without being asked.

Torres kept coming back to the fact that she believes in her heart that 21-year-old Garcia-Torres is innocent in Sierra LaMar's disappearance.

Unless, she did acknowledge, Garcia-Torres has lied to her. Even if that is the case, Torres still isn't sure she could ever believe her son could do something so horrible.

That sentiment resonated with numerous community members, who expressed shock after the news broke Monday night that Garcia-Torres of Morgan Hill has been identified as the only murder suspect in Sierra LaMar's disappearance.

“I don't know, what can I say? This is my son,” Torres said.

Garcia-Torres lived with his mother, wife and daughter in a small trailer on the northside of the park, where a bright pink baby stroller and an assortment of toys scattered in front of their home.

According to Torres, Garcia-Torres' wife Francine works at Chipotle in Morgan Hill and is expecting another baby in November

Garcia-Torres' arrest is just another event in a string of recent heartbreaks for Torres. Her other son, Garcia-Torres' older brother, recently died from an alcohol induced heart attack, and the father of her two sons is in jail.

Garcia-Torres attended Live Oak High School, before transferring to Central High School, but ultimately dropped out in 2010. He met his wife Francine at Live Oak, Torres said.

Garcia-Torres has at least two prior arrests – one for interfering with an officer, for which he was convicted, and a felony assault that was not prosecuted, Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith said.

Furthermore, he is also linked to at least one incident in a series of at least three assaults on women in the parking lots of two Safeway stores in Morgan Hill, on Tennant and East Dunne avenues, Smith said.

Sierra LaMar Murder Suspect May be Linked to More Crimes

On March 19, 2009 a woman was attacked with a stun gun at Safeway on Dunne in Morgan Hill. Minutes earlier at the same parking lot a man followed a woman to her car and tried to break in. Then days later, on March 26th another attack occurred but this time a woman was assaulted by a man with a knife at the Safeway on Tenant. Investigators say Garcia-Torres is a suspect in one of these cases and a person of interest in the other two. They couldn't comment which one he is a suspect in.
 
A sketch was made by police from the description one of the victims gave them. If you compare the sketch and the photo of Garcia-Torres' mug shot, they look very similar. Now police hope evidence found in the disappearance of Sierra LaMar will link Garcia-Torres to all three attacks. "Evidence that the Morgan Hill Police Department recovered back in 2009 was turned over to the sheriff's department and that evidence was directly linked to our suspect," said Hoefling.
 
Morgan Hill Police and Santa Clara County Sheriff deputies won't say what the evidence is and which crime they can already link Garcia-Torres to, but in May 2009 police arrested him for resisting arrest and obstruction a police officer. Over the next three years Garcia Torres had several more run ins with police, mostly for vehicle infractions.
 
Now they're taking another look at evidence for crimes dating back three years to see what else he could be responsible for. "We do have evidence of video surveillance from the Safeway stores in 2009," said Hoefling.
 
Right now Antonin Garcia-Torres is in the Santa Clara County Jail facing charges of murder and kidnapping.

However they decided to arrest and charge him even thought they have not found the victim, Sierra. Sierra`s mother made a desperate plea for Garcia Torres to tell them if he hid her somewhere and end their family nightmare.

Straight out to criminal profiler, Pat Brown, there is an old saying and I hate to use it, but it does explain the dilemma of law enforcement -- "no body, no case." We pray and hope by some miracle that this beautiful young woman is still alive, but police do not think so. That`s why they`ve arrested him on a murder charge, but they do not have a body. How do they deal with that?

PAT BROWN, CRIMINAL PROFILER: Well, I hear they have DNA, they might have a lot of other evidence. They`ve been watching this guy for a long time, so I don`t think they would have moved in on him unless they thought they had a strong enough case. And perhaps he is working to give them some information as to where she is so he can get -- hopefully a lighter sentence for himself.

But I don`t think he`s going to get much of that, but I certainly hope that helps the family at least know what happened to Sierra. I mean this sort of been -- the way it`s been going for a while now, but at least now they have the true facts of it.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Cops spent months investigating this case and actually linked Garcia-Torres, they say to Sierra with DNA found in her bag and also her DNA on his property. So they`ve got a match. There`s no reason for that to be because they didn`t know each other.

So let`s listen to this.

SMITH: It`s my belief this was purely random. It was an absolute stranger abduction. There`s no information that we have of any type that the two know each other and have had any contact. We believe this is the worst kind of a crime, a stranger abduction of a young girl.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Random crime, obviously the most terrifying because you cannot prepare for it or figure out a way to avoid it, so you`ve got to wonder, J. Wyndal Gordon, criminal defense attorney, if this DNA match is going to be enough.

Let`s pray that this family gets closure and that whatever happened to this beautiful young woman the family finds out and they can somehow at least know the truth, but if not, will the DNA and his DNA on her property and her DNA on his property, will that be enough?

J. WYNDAL GORDON, CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Well, you know, we saw a case dealing with a lack of a body and another case that was out in California, it`s the (inaudible) that escapes me right now. When you don`t have a body, you don`t have a case because it`s hard. You don`t know the cause of death. Was it an accident? Was it a homicide? We don`t know what the cause of death is, so the DNA, I don`t think that would be enough unless the prosecutor can piece together -- the prosecutor`s office can piece together enough evidence to show that this was, in fact, a homicide, and I just don`t know how they`re going do it.

I think they acted with quick dispatch to get him off the street. I mean I have every reason to believe that the investigation is still ongoing and that they just wanted to get him off the street because he wasn`t leading them into any information that they would find helpful, but this thing will go on until the --

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, let me say this. This isn`t the first crime that this guy, this creep has been linked to.

SMITH: One was where a taser was involved but the victim managed to get away. Another one was where the victim had a knife that was being used against her and the other one was he was not able to get into the victim`s car. She locked it. Those have been recorded by the media and one of those we linked through evidence to our suspect.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Now, I want to go out to Mark Eiglarsh, criminal defense attorney. You`re also a former prosecutor. I`m wondering given that they do not have the victim in this case, could they pile on all these charges connected to these other cases to encourage him confess and reveal what he did with Sierra? Could they offer to take, for example, the death penalty off the table?

MARK EIGLARSH, CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Absolute, they can try. But this guy wasn`t an altar boy yesterday and then turned to be a murderer and a kidnapper. He`s been through the system. So he becomes very educated that the fish who kept his mouth shut doesn`t get caught. So he knows that the minute he starts talking the more he`s going to help their case which as Mr. Gordon correctly indicated earlier seems to be lacking proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

Without a body -- they do allege that there are substances of hers found in his vehicle -- I don`t know what that would be. I guess the worst-case scenario is blood. But again, is that an accident? Does that show that she was intentionally murdered? I think that there is proof that he most likely did it. He probably did it, but I`m looking to see some more, Jane.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Let`s go out to the phone lines.

TAMMY, RHODE ISLAND (via telephone): Jane, I just thought I`d let you know how much I love the show. And I`m calling you to --

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Thank you.

TAMMY: -- say my heart goes out to both of those girls and their families. I hope the second girl is found, but what I`m calling about is that people have to realize that it`s not 30 years ago or 40 yes years ago, you can`t be out there alone. You can`t go walking by yourself. You can`t go riding a bike at all. You have to be in pairs or with other people.

We have to watch out for each other because there`s a war on women and girls. And it`s just really a sad thing that the world`s turned to this. But my opinion is that you can`t do things alone like you used to.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes, but -- well, you make some important points, but I have to point out that Sierra Lamar, this 15-year-old was simply walking from her front door to her nearby school bus stop. This wasn`t a girl running around all over town. She was walking from her front door to her school bus stop.

And that`s why I agree with you in the sense that there is something wrong with our culture that people, particularly females -- which I call the psychological burqa -- have to live in fear any time they walk anywhere alone. There`s something wrong and we need to do something about it.

Now, let`s examine who this character is -- Garcia-Torres, a stranger to Sierra, total stranger. Ok. But we`ve done some digging. And get this -- he`s married with a one and a half-year-old daughter and his wife is three months pregnant. Now, his sister says they have the wrong guy, quote, "It is not him. It feels like we`re in a movie right now, an unfair movie."

But the fact is if he is the man responsible, he essentially impregnated his wife and then went out and did this? How horrifying is that, Pat Brown?

BROWN: Well, there`s a lot of serial killers who have wives and we find them, sometimes they`ve been married 20 or 30 years and they have killed 10 women and they have wives. The problem is the wives don`t recognize that they`re married to a psychopath.

Volunteers Conduct Recovery Operation for Sierra Lamar

DNA of Sierra Suspect Already in Criminal Database

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, Calif. - New information on the suspect arrested for kidnap and murder in connection to the disappearance of Sierra Lamar.

Court documents show why Antolin Garcia-Torres' DNA was already in the criminal system. It turns out it was documented in 2009 after he was arrested for battery and statutory rape.

It turns out his girlfriend, who was 15 at time, was pregnant with his child. The District Attorney did not prosecute those charges.

Current girlfriend is 19 with a 1 1/2 yr old and expecting again in Nov. We have no idea if the 1 1/2 yr old is his, but if it is that means she could have gotten pregnant when she was 16 depending on birthdays. 

History shows he likes his girls at around 15 - 16 yrs old.  Guess he missed the class on birth control, condoms and statutory rape, or this may be a control mechanism for him to keep them around.

An international news agency is reporting Joran Van Der Sloot is a suspect in the murder of a 21 year old woman in Peru. Van Der Sloot was the prime suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba five years ago.  According to BNO News the victim in this new case is Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez who was found dead this morning after disappearing Friday. Her family says she was last seen leaving a casino with Van Der Sloot.

Searches continue for Sierra LaMar after suspect's arrest
 
A day and a half after the arrest of a man accused of kidnapping and murdering Sierra LaMar, both authorities and volunteers are continuing their searches for her.

The Santa Clara Sheriff's Office is looking for her body. The volunteers, who also have been scouring the southern portion of the county, are holding out hope they might find the 15-year-old Morgan Hill-area teen alive.

"My hope is that she is still alive, that he just has her somewhere," Karah Silacci, a 38-year-old Gilroy resident who has volunteered in the search effort since its inception, said Tuesday as she was gearing up to participate in Wednesday's search. "If she's not, we still have to bring her home."

Sheriff's divers Wednesday were scheduled to probe the Uvas Reservoir, 10 miles southwest of the unincorporated neighborhood off Palm and Dougherty avenues where Sierra vanished March 16. Sgt. Jose Cardoza said that will extend to other area waterways throughout the week.

(05-23) 12:01 PDT MORGAN HILL -- The mother of the 15-year-old South Bay girl presumed slain by a former supermarket worker said Wednesday there's no chance her daughter would have willingly gotten into the suspect's car.

Marlene LaMar said her daughter Sierra LaMar would not have spent time with someone like Antolin Garcia-Torres, 21, the man Santa Clara County sheriff's investigators say kidnapped and killed her. Sierra was last seen March 16 in her home near Morgan Hill home. Her body hasn't been found.

"This is not a person I would ever associate my daughter talking to or feeling comfortable entering a vehicle with," LaMar said at a news conference. "I've seen a lot of the friends that she's hung out with, and I would never guess that she would willingly get into a car with somebody."

LaMar spoke at Burnett Elementary School in Morgan Hill, where volunteers gathered Wednesday for another day of searching for clues leading to Sierra's whereabouts.

Situations like this upset me to no end!!  This man is sitting in jail, with ALL of the answers at his fingertips.  He has the power to, at the very least, tell this family where their daughter is.  NO ONE should be THROWN away like trash, or placed somewhere that their family can not go and grieve for them. 
I hope and pray that this 'man' will gather up SOME concious and tell her family where she is.  EVERYONE deserves a proper burial.

MORGAN HILL, Calif. (KGO) -- There are new details about the criminal past of the kidnapping and murder suspect in the Sierra LaMar case and the time he spent in jail.

Twenty-one-year-old Antolin Garcia-Torres was arrested two days ago for Sierra's murder. While his mother has proclaimed his innocence, Sierra's parents hope he provides some clues as to their daughter's whereabouts.

Before moving to a Morgan Hill trailer park, Garcia-Torres lived with his mother in a rental unit that used to stand in a lot behind a San Martin home. The owner told ABC7 News that sheriff's deputies were frequent visitors.

In 2009, then 18-year-old Garcia-Torres was arrested for having sex with a minor, a teen who is the mother of the couple's 19-month-old child.

Garcia Torres grew up partly in the shadow of his brother Benancio, more than eight years his senior.

Benancio Garcia was in and out of jail for most of his teen years, culminating in his deportation to Mexico in 2006. Benancio died in December from complications relatives said were likely from alcohol abuse.

Their father has even more serious problems with the law. He is being held in Santa Clara County Jail on allegations he sexually abused a relative. The sisters declined to say much about him.

With a lost brother and a father who has generally been out of the picture, Lucero Garcia said her two sisters, mother and brother took care of each other at their family home on Llagas Avenue. Even though he wasn't the eldest sibling, he took on the mantel of family protector, a role that led to clashes with the law on at least two occasions.

In 2009, he berated police for rushing into their home while looking for a probationer thought to be staying there, leading to an arrest for obstructing officers and later a vandalism charge after he etched graffiti onto a bench and flooded the toilet in his jail cell. A year later, he was arrested after purportedly punching his sister's boyfriend in a disagreement over living expenses at the home, but no charges were filed.

Garcia Torres' sisters said school never topped his interests, though like a former teacher said, it wasn't for a lack of aptitude. By the time he got to Live Oak High School, his focus was on his job at the Safeway on Tennant Avenue -- the site of his Monday arrest -- where he quickly moved up from bagger to cashier and displayed his well-known gift for gab.

"He loved to talk to customers," Lucero Garcia said.

He married high school sweetheart Francine Sarmiento, with whom he has 19-month-old Emily and another child on the way.

"They took little Emily with them everywhere. He's really good with her," Lucero Garcia said.

His burgeoning family is what drove Garcia Torres to seek other work. He got certification with a job-placement program and was dispatched to work with a San Jose contractor. To get to work, he would routinely drive north, past the area where Sierra was last seen, a fact that did not escape the notice of investigators. He told his mother the day police seized his red Volkswagen Jetta that he swore he never met her, much less kidnapped and killed her.

Another daylong search for evidence in the disappearance of Morgan Hill teenager Sierra LaMar is scheduled for Thursday, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's search and rescue unit, including three specially trained dogs and 20 people, will focus on searching in Gilroy and San Martin from 9 a.m. until about 5:30 p.m.

Investigators say it's likely she was abducted.

Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen told NBC Bay Area on Wednesday that he will charge Antolin Garcia-Torres with murder and kidnap at his arraignment Thursday afternoon.

Garcia-Torres, 21, was arrested by Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputies in a Morgan Hill Safeway in connection with the disappearance of Sierra LaMar.

DNA evidence on her belongings, and DNA evidence found in Garcia-Torres' car link the two together, according to Sheriff Laurie Smith. Still, the two did not know each other, Smith added, in what she called a "purely random" attack.

That's okay Janet, I think we all were a little off in thinking about Mom's BF.  If not a stranger then he would be the next logical person with a motive!  Whoda thunk a complete stranger in such a small cul-de-sac?  Threw me off too but you and I both know more often than not the person committing these types of crimes are someone close from home!  

Plus, we were under the impression that she was taken right at her driveway...all we heard was that the scent did not leave her driveway...it was released that she did get further than that...

Thanks labubske and melisb.  I am still humbled.  I was so sure that those closest to Sierra knew the answers in regards to her demise ... her disappearance.  I believed with all my heart that all the red flags were there.

According to Sheriff Laurie Smith's own words on NG ... Serria's scent did not go beyond the door of the home.

Anyways ... the arrest of Garcia implies I was sooo wrong.  My heart does break for Sierra's mother and sister but I concede that am struggling in regards to affording any compassion to her father.  I am sincerely attempting to work through my negative feelings regarding this guy's past.

(05-24) 14:48 PDT SAN JOSE -- The former supermarket worker charged with kidnapping and murdering a South Bay girl made his first court appearance Thursday on charges that could bring him the death penalty, but did not enter a plea.
 
His hands shackled, Antolin Garcia-Torres, 21, of Morgan Hill said nothing and kept his head bowed as he appeared briefly before Judge Jerome Nadler in Santa Clara County Superior Court. Nadler ordered him held without bail and told him to return to the San Jose courtroom next Thursday.
 
Prosecutors charged Garcia-Torres with murder with the special circumstance of murder in the course of a kidnapping in connection with the presumed slaying of Sierra LaMar, 15, who lived just outside Morgan Hill. Sierra was last seen March 16, and her body has not been found.
 
The special circumstance allegation means Garcia-Torres could face life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty if he is convicted. District Attorney Jeff Rosen said his office would decide later whether to seek lethal injection.

A body was found in a trash can on Dublin Canyon Road in Pleasanton on Thursday. There was no immediate indication that the dead female is the missing Morgan Hill girl, Sierra Lamar.

MORGAN HILL, Calif - Santa Clara County Sheriff's Deputies are asking for property owners help in finding Sierra Lamar's body.

In an effort to maximize the resources to locate Sierra, the Sheriff's Office is encouraging the community and rural property owners to continue searches of land, water shorelines, creeks, streams, private property wells, large containers and abandoned sheds or outhouse structures.

Body found stuffed into trash can, left along Dublin Canyon Road
Police: 'Nothing like this has every happened here before'

A body was found stuffed into trash can this morning, according to Pleasanton police who are investigating the discovery.

Police received a call to a 45-gallon plastic trash can that had been left along the side of the road on Dublin Canyon Road, not far from Laurel Creek Drive at about 11 a.m. according to police Lt. Jeff Bretzing.

"Officers discovered inside the can what appear to be human remains," Bretzing said, adding the can was adjacent to the road. "We don't know how long it's been there."

Police have not released any information about the sex, age or race of the victim, but Bretzing said this afternoon that the Alameda County Coroner's Office has taken the body.

"We hope very soon, possibly in the next few hours, for a preliminary report from the coroner's office," he said.

The territory is nominally the jurisdiction of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, but Bretzing said Pleasanton police will remain the lead agency in the investigation

Pleasanton police Lt. Jeff Bretzing said police received a call about 11 a.m. about a black trash receptacle, which doesn't resemble other cans in the neighborhood, adjacent to the roadway.

"Someone called this in because it (having a trash can in that spot) wasn't normal and it. shouldn't have been in that location," Bretzing said. "When officers arrived they opened it up and found what looked like human remains."

Bretzing didn't know how long the trash can had been on the street, but a neighbor said she thought she first saw it there a few days ago.

Representatives from the Alameda County Coroner's office loaded a gurney containing the body, in white bag, into a van and drove away from the area about 3 p.m., police said.

At least five brown bags of what appears to be evidence and the black oval-shaped garbage can on wheels were loaded into a Pleasanton police van. Police did not say what the bags contained.

Pleasanton Police and members of the Alameda County Sheriff's office crime lab and a handful of men in suits were on the scene earlier, but only Pleasanton police officers remained at 4:30 p.m.

Police said a news release with more information is expected to be issued at 5 p.m.

Sisters of Sierra LaMar murder suspect describe arrest as 'surreal'

Lucero and Alondra Garcia shared photographs of their brother Antolin who they affectionately call "Ant." they described him as social and friendly.

"It's hard to see him behind a cage, locked up," said Alondra Garcia. "We're thinking he's innocent."

The Garcia sisters said that ever since their brother was arrested for the kidnapping and murder of Sierra Lamar, they and their children have been taunted.

"They say 'Oh, that's your uncle on tv. He's a murderer and this and that,'" said Lucero Garcia.

We asked Lucero Garcia about her brother's past criminal record. Morgan Hill police told KTVU Antoilin Garcia-Torres was arrested in May of 2009.

PLEASANTON -- Human remains were discovered in a trash can in some shrubbery Thursday near Dublin Canyon Road and Laurel Creek Drive, police said.

Police said a news release with more information is expected later Thursday.

However, with Antolin Garcia Torres, 21, charged this week with murder and a special circumstance of murder in the course of a kidnapping for the killing of 15-year-old Sierra LaMar, there were early questions the body could be that of the Morgan Hill teen. But that case belongs to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office and they were not involved in Thursday's investigation.

"No other agencies at this point" are working the case, Bretzing said.

Human Remains Found in Trash Can in Pleasanton

A trash can that looks like it came from outside of Pleasanton was found, but it's not known if it's Sierra LaMar.
 
Human remains were found inside a 45-gallon trash can that looked a little out of place sitting on Dublin Canyon Road in Pleasanton on Thursday, police confirmed.

Lt. Jeff Bretzing said authorities do not know whether the remains are that of a man or woman, and have no idea of the victim's age.

The trash can, which was turned over on the roadway much of Thursday afternoon and visible from behind the police tape, did not look to be the same type of city-issued trash bin residents in the area use.

Reporters specifically asked if the Morgan Hill Police Department was involved, which would indicate that the remains could be those of Sierra LaMar, the high-profile missing 15-year-old girl. But Bretzing said no.

The regular trash day in the neighborhood is Tuesday, according to neighbors.

The body was found in an area of big estate-type homes in a development called The Preserve. The area borders Interstate 580 but it was not immediately known where police had been searching.

A neighbor said she first saw the street blocked off about 1:30 p.m. and didn't know how much earlier police might have been out investigating.

What's that on his wrist in the video?  You can only see his wrist for a few seconds right at the beginning of the video before his attorney goes over and stands beside him.  Maybe it's just some kind of wristbands they put on them in lock up?  But it looks to me like it could be bandaged?  It's probably nothing or surely one of the reporters would have said something about it.

Court documents released Thursday elaborated on the reasons investigators have lost hope in finding Sierra alive.
 
"Sierra LaMar has no independent means of support," sheriff's Sgt. Herman Leon wrote in a statement outlining the grounds for Garcia-Torres' arrest. "All of her known personal belongings, including her asthma inhaler, her money, her house keys and the clothing she was wearing the morning of her disappearance, have been located."
 
Sierra was active on social media websites, but nothing has been heard from her since the morning of March 16, Leon wrote. And when the tracking dog was put on her trail, the scent disappeared with ominous abruptness.
 
Authorities have said Sierra's DNA was found in Garcia-Torres' Jetta and that his DNA was found on clothes belonging to Sierra, which were found near the stop where she would have caught the bus. They have not described the DNA evidence, but Sheriff Laurie Smith said the material found on Sierra's clothes was not blood.

Yes, it was March 3rd.  Sierra disappeared March 16th.

The mother of the suspect accused of kidnapping and murdering 15-year-old Sierra Lamar says she believes her son is innocent, but Sheriff Laurie Smith insists the DNA evidence found in his car and on Sierra’s belongings is damning - even if her body is never found. Meanwhile, a former FBI agent says Antolin Garcia Torres, a husband and father to a 20-month-old daughter, could have fooled everybody.

On Tuesday morning, Garcia Torres' mother, Laura Torres, sobbed outside her home at Maple Leaf RV Park in Morgan Hill when she thought about her son being taken away and charged with the murder of Sierra, a crime she is certain he didn't commit.

According to Torres, Garcia Torres' wife Francine Sarmiento works at a fast-food Mexican restaurant in Morgan Hill and is expecting another baby in November.

Francine has not returned requests for comment, but has taken to Facebook to express her disdain for Sierra LaMar and proclaim the innocence of her husband.

Authorities say that Garcia Torres worked at both Morgan Hill Safeway locations, though he’s not worked there for about 18 months, according to employees. Other reports have said he was most recently working as a day laborer in San Jose and would travel Santa Teresa Boulevard, near where Sierra’s purse was found and where his red Jetta was spotted.

PLEASANTON -- Police are investigating a body, possibly that of a woman, found inside a trash can in an upscale Pleasanton neighborhood Thursday.

The age and gender of the body have not yet been positively determined by the Alameda County Coroner's Office, and police offered no immediate details. But sources said late Thursday that the body, which has long hair and painted nails, likely is female. However, based on decomposition and age, authorities don't believe it is missing Morgan Hill 15-year-old Sierra Lamar.

I hope they find Sierras body soon.
It's a Shame the GF (Francine) is so ignorant and uneducated, she has no idea FBI has footage of the car license plate ect. Plus DNA of Sierra in the car and his on her clothing. Im wondering if his GF is same one he was charged with have sex with? I bet she is she was and she was 15 at the time.It makes me sick that young girls are targeted I wish there was something we could do to stop and change this.. Breaks my heart.
