Interpol hunt ‘killer’ porn actor Luka Rocco Magnotta

Porn actor wanted in connection with a grisly murder may have fled North America, Canadian police say.

Luka Rocco Magnotta, who is suspected of posting body parts to political party offices in Ottawa, has been added to Interpol’s wanted list.

A human torso was found in a suitcase behind the 29-year-old’s Montreal flat.

Police suspect he may have left the country based on evidence found during a search of his flat, and a blog post he wrote about how to disappear.

Montreal Police Commander Ian Lafreniere said there was reason to believe Mr Magnotta may be in a foreign country.

“He left a letter on a website mentioning how to disappear for good, and secondly our investigation brought us some details that might let us think that he could be away from the country,” he told reporters.

Unnamed sources say he may have travelled to France, the Globe and Mail newspaper reports.

The suspect, also known as Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov, worked as a bisexual porn actor and model, investigators said.

He has been linked to a video posted online in 2010 that showed two kittens being placed in a plastic bag and suffocated.

Police described him as a white male, about 5ft 8in (1.78m) tall with blue eyes and black hair.

Lawyer accuses Toronto police of ignoring alleged murder video tip

TORONTO – Toronto police along with several law enforcement officials in the United States ignored a tip about a disturbing video posted online depicting the grisly murder and dismemberment of a man, an American lawyer says.

Roger Renville, a U.S.-based lawyer, says that on May 26 and May 27, he warned police stations in Toronto, Denver and Miami of a video posted on a website that shares gory content with its viewers.

“The video is horrific and the comments associated with the site prepared the viewer a little but . . . watching the video, I was both horrified and shocked,” he told Global News.

The video in question is now being examined by investigators in Montreal who believe it may be related to the vicious murder of a man, allegedly at the hands of a 29-year-old suspect.

Gruesome killing in Canada spurs international manhunt

A gruesome killing in Montreal has spurred an international manhunt for a Canadian man suspected of hacking apart a victim, then mailing pieces of the body to politicians.

Canadian police said Wednesday they were searching for Luka Rocco Magnotta, a 29-year-old model and porn actor who has used several different names. Interpol added Magnotta to its wanted list Thursday as police said he may have left Canada.

"There is no country in the world that is not talking about him," Montreal police Cmdr. Ian Lafreničre told CBC News Thursday morning.

Officials have not released the name of the victim. A dismembered torso was found in a suitcase in an alley behind a Montreal apartment Tuesday, the same day that a severed foot arrived by mail at the Conservative Party headquarters in Ottawa, according to Canadian media. Another package containing a human hand was stopped at an Ottawa postal facility before it reached the Liberal Party.

More body parts may be in the mail: The foot came with a note saying that six body parts had been sent, CTV News reported Wednesday. The suitcase holding the torso was found near Magnotta's second-floor apartment, which was reportedly still spattered with blood Thursday.

Life at Canada's most infamous crime scene; horror and cleanup in Apartment 208

MONTREAL - Residents at what is now Canada's most-talked-about crime scene congregated at their low-rent apartment building on Wednesday night, sucking on beers, discussing the macabre cleanup and gossiping about the killing in their midst.

What happened behind the red door of blood-soaked Apartment 208?

Police believe the second-floor bachelor unit in Montreal, which Luka Rocco Magnotta rented for $490 per month, was the scene of a gruesome crime that has locals' stomachs churning.

Magnotta, 29, is wanted in connection with a slaying, corpse dismemberment and the mailing of body parts to Ottawa. The search has gone international with Magnotta on Interpol's wanted person's list.

A small group of tenants and other curious neighbours squeezed into Magnotta's cramped apartment yesterday around suppertime.

Suspect in dismemberment case dated Karla Homolka
Montreal man wanted for sending foot to Tory Party HQ; hand to Liberal Party

Montreal police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for Luka Rocco Magnotta - a man with a disturbing online profile who is now accused of murder after the grisly discovery of a torso, whose severed foot and hand were mailed to the Conservative and Liberal party offices in Ottawa.

Police also confirmed that the suspect at large in the gruesome murder and dismemberment once dated Karla Homolka - though in 2007, Magnotta denied he dated the notorious sex killer.

Mailed body parts video murder suspect flees

A Canadian porn actor suspected of mailing body parts to the headquarters of two major political parties after making a video of the killing might have fled North America, police say.

Montreal Police Commander Ian Lafreniere said on Thursday authorities believe Luka Rocco Magnotta fled based on evidence they found at his apartment, and based on a blog Magnotta once wrote about how to disappear.

The 29-year-old Magnotta has been added to Interpol's "wanted persons" list.

"We believe he may be in a foreign country," Lafreniere told The Associated Press. "He left a letter on a website mentioning how to disappear for good, and secondly, our investigation brought us some details that might let us think that he could be away from the country."

Lafreniere said they have an idea where he might have fled but declined to say where.

Lafreniere also said police have been trying to take down an online video that they believe shows Magnotta murdering a man he dated.

The video shows a man stabbing another man with an ice pick while the victim lies naked and tied up. The first man later reveals he has slashed the other man's throat. He also dismembers the corpse and performs sexual acts with it.

The Internet was hunting Luka Rocco Magnotta long before the murder

Is there anything we can do to stop a homicidal idiot from attaining his goal of worldwide fame?

Alleged killer and manhunt target Luka Rocco Magnotta (a.k.a. Vladimir Romanov, a.k.a. Kirk Newman, a.k.a. several other witless porn-stud aliases) seems to have dedicated his young life to the hollowest of dreams: fame for its own sake, fame by any means.   Today, he has achieved it. His pouty, surgically altered face is inescapable, accompanying hundreds of quickly turned around news items, including this one, all about a man few knew or cared about until he became a murder suspect.

The Globe and Mail reports today on Magnotta’s online history, an extensive trail of empty self-promotion including a vanity site, a number of Facebook profiles, porno performances, animal cruelty videos, troll-baiting comments and self-spread rumors about his relationships with celebrities–at least one of these seems to have been true: Montreal police have confirmed that Magnotta dated serial killer Karla Homolka (are there specialized talent agents who arrange these romances?).

Body-parts suspect has a long Internet trail

Luka Rocco Magnotta’s Internet trail is long, but it’s hard to know what’s real. Even his name isn’t the one he was born with: He was Eric Clinton Kirk Newman until he legally changed his identity on Aug. 12, 2006.

The slender 29-year-old Canadian has gone by other names, too, such as Vladimir Romanov and Mattia Del Santo, in his life on the Web, as a model and as a bisexual adult-film performer.

On the Internet, he billed himself as a star, as someone who was famous enough to date celebrities and even serial killers, such as Karla Homolka.

Most recently – until he was named on Wednesday as the prime suspect in a gruesome murder in Montreal – he was best known as the alleged “Vacuum Kitten Killer,” dubbed so by a Facebook group started in December, 2010, to track down the man responsible for posting a kittens-killing video on YouTube.

“We spent 18 months warning the police … and what did they do?” group member Rob Lynn, who lives in England, wrote online shortly after Montreal police revealed Mr. Magnotta was wanted in connection with the slaying of a man, whose body was severed and a part of it, a foot, mailed to Conservative Party headquarters. A hand, meanwhile, was destined for Liberal Party offices.

Montreal Craigslist users posted warnings about man resembling Luka Magnotta

OTTAWA — A Montreal man who posted personal ads on the website Craigslist said he was repeatedly contacted in recent weeks by someone who sent him pictures that closely resemble Luka Magnotta, the suspect in the bizarre body parts case.

The Craigslist user, who did want his name published, said he contacted Montreal police on Wednesday after seeing pictures of Magnotta in news reports.

Magnotta was identified as the prime suspect in the death of a Montreal man whose dismembered torso was found in a suitcase in Montreal and whose hand and foot were mailed to the Liberal and Conservative party offices in Ottawa.

He is the subject of a Canada-wide arrest warrant and is on INTERPOL’S most-wanted list.

The Craigslist user said he was repeatedly contacted by the person he believes is Magnotta between May 10 and 25 after posting several ads in the “men seeking men” section of the site.

Body-parts suspect may have gone to France after killing: sources

Luka Rocco Magnotta is believed to have travelled to France over the weekend, after the brutal killing of a man in Montreal and the shipping of at least two body parts by mail to political parties in Ottawa, sources say.

The Scarborough native is now on Interpol’s wanted persons list in relation to the recent murder and dismemberment of his alleged victim in a Montreal apartment.

A spokesperson for the Montreal police confirmed on Thursday that investigators “have good reasons to believe that [Mr. Magnotta] has left the country.”

He is believed to have flown to France, although his current whereabouts are not known, The Globe and Mail has learned.

Police call suspect Luka Rocco Magnotta ‘a wacko’

 ::snipping2::

Police were on the lookout for the victim’s other body parts, including his head, Lafreničre said. He added that it was not impossible that other parts had been mailed.

Lafreničre confirmed that police discovered Wednesday that Magnotta, a stripper who had done pornographic videos, had also dated notorious sex killer Karla Homolka. However, in 2007, Magnotta reportedly denied that he dated Homolka.

Lafreničre also confirmed that police learned Wednesday Magnotta had posted videos online of himself killing kittens.

Late Wednesday, CTV News reported that a note had been found in the box containing the severed foot. The note allegedly said that a total of six body parts had been distributed through the mail, and warned that the person responsible would kill again.

Magnotta fled to Paris, police say; arrant alleges murder of ‘unknown man’

OTTAWA — Luka Rocco Magnotta, the man at the centre of an international manhunt for a gruesome killing and dismemberment in Montreal, fled Canada for Paris on May 25, the day the killing took place, police say. His current whereabouts is unknown.

Magnotta has been charged with second-degree murder in the death “of an unknown person,” according to an arrest warrant made public Thursday afternoon at the Montreal courthouse. It is unusual in that it indicates the police have yet to identify the victim in the case.

In this chain of depraved events orchestrated by a disturbed mind, it turns out that the severed human foot delivered to Tory headquarters was only the latest link.

Before that, someone repeatedly stabbed a young man with an ice pick. While both killer and victim lay naked, he dismembered the corpse and committed sexual and cannibalistic acts on it.

That same person apparently videotaped the gory scene and posted it on the Internet. The video is now being reviewed by Montreal police, who are investigating a case that has shocked the country.

Owner defends 'gore' site connected to Luka Magnotta
Doesn't believe video sent by suspect

May 31, 2012

The owner of a graphic website that showcases grisly videos says that his site should be praised for helping identify Luka Rocco Magnotta, who is alleged to be in a video believed to depict the stabbing and dismemberment of a man.

In an email exchange with CBC News, Edmonton-based Mark Marek, owner of Best Gore website, said members of his site were able to identify Magnotta days before the discovery of the torso in Montreal and a foot at the Conservative Party of Canada headquarters in Ottawa. A hand was also found at a Canada Post terminal that was addressed to the Liberal Party of Canada headquarters.

Magnotta, 29, is wanted in connection with the discovery of those body parts and the video.

"People should be grateful and thank [the] great job Best Gore did to ensure everyone's safety," Marek said.

"Because the video was made public, Best Gore community was able to identify the [suspect] and report it."

Marek said he doesn't believe the 10˝ minute video was sent to him by Magnotta.

"I do not actually run background checks on my contributor so I can’t say that for sure. By the sound of it, I doubt it was Magnotta, but as I said, I neither have the capabilities nor interest in verifying identities of contributors," he said.
"Many would not contribute if they had no option to remain anonymous. But I'm 99 per cent sure it was not Magnotta. No, the tone in which it was sent to me – no, it just wasn’t him."

Marek said the video was forwarded to him on May 25 and posted on the same day. He said it is not known when it was filmed.

He said police have not yet contacted him.

Magnotta no stranger to police

TORONTO - Porn actor and suspected killer Luka Magnotta is no stranger to the wrong side of the law.

The 29-year-old has been before the courts numerous times in Toronto, where he lived most of his life, but for offences much less serious than the murder rap he’s now facing.

In 2004, Magnotta was arrested and slapped with a dozen charges, including fraud and sexual assault.

However, at that time he was still using his real name, Eric Clinton Newman.

According to court documents obtained by the Toronto Sun, Newman and a friend, both 22 at the time, were accused of defrauding a woman out of nearly $17,000.

Newman also was alleged to have impersonated that woman to obtain an American Express card, which he used to go on a shopping spree at several department stores. He also was alleged to have used that woman’s identity to get a cellphone, cable service and a modem from Rogers.

And Newman was accused of further victimizing that same woman by sexually assaulting her.

Magnotta a 'ticking time bomb': relative

PETERBOROUGH, ON - Luka Magnotta is a "ticking time bomb" who needs to be brought into custody, says a close family member of the primary suspect in a gruesome Montreal murder.
"I hope that he is caught because he is a ticking time bomb," the woman said during an exclusive interview with QMI Agency. "Because he's unstable, if he gets cornered, I just don't think it will be a good outcome, so the faster he is caught the better."

The woman, who has known Magnotta since he was a child, spoke on a condition of anonymity.
She described a highly dysfunctional family in which Magnotta was raised by his grandparents with little if any structure.

"This family from the head down is very dysfunctional," she said, as she sipped a coffee in a Peterborough Tim Hortons. "The essence of this whole story is parenting or the lack of."

To the international audience that is following the case, Magnotta is a murder suspect, a porn star, a kitten killer and even a rumoured love interest of schoolgirl killer Karla Holmoka.

But to his family in the Peterborough area, the man at the centre of a bizarre case in which parts from a dismembered body were mailed to national political party offices is just Eric Newman.

The woman said Magnotta was an "odd," effeminate teen growing up in Scarborough, Ont., and then Lindsay, ON, where he attended I. E. Weldon Secondary School for Grades 10 and 11.

"He's a nut job. I did not trust him," the woman said.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: They are aware he had postings on YouTube. There are reports that in those videos, he was killing kittens.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We need to find the suspect, and we need to bring him to justice.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Tonight an international manhunt for a porn star accused of sending body parts to members of government. A torso found in a suitcase behind his apartment. What the hell is going on here?

Interpol has issued a red notice alert for this man. He goes by several names but is best known as Luka Magnotta. Outside his apartment in Montreal, an enormous crime scene after a human torso is found stuffed in a suitcase. His landlord finds the leaky luggage which leads to even more gruesome discoveries.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PAYETTE: I had my eye on it because it looked like a nice suitcase. In 208 that`s where they found the rest of the body parts, right across from my apartment. I walked out at 7 this morning, and there was an overwhelming smell of, like -- it was like bad meat.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Inside his apartment blood stains seeped through a mattress. Plus, blood spatter on the shower, on the table, on the furniture; flesh even found in his refrigerator.

On his mirror, a terrifying message, scrawled in red marker: "If you don`t like the reflection, don`t look in the mirror. I don`t care."

What happened to the rest of the body parts? A left foot was sent in the mail to the headquarters of Canada`s Conservative Party, and a postal worker found a severed left hand in a package addressed to Canada`s Liberal Party.

What kind of human being commits horrific murders and then sends body parts to his elected officials? Listen to Luka Magnotta in his own words in his interview from "The Toronto Sun."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

LUKA ROCCO MAGNOTTA, SUSPECT: I`m a stripper, and then basically, I went from there to doing adult films. And I`m not ashamed of making adult films. I have a problem, though, with people saying (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: What a weirdo. What a sicko. Where is this porn star turned murder suspect?

Give me a call: 1-877-JVM-SAYS, 1-877-586-7297. I want to hear your thoughts on this very strange case.

Straight out to CBC reporter Terry Milewski, who is live in Ottawa, Canada, with the very latest. What do you know, Terry?

TERRY MILEWSKI, CBC REPORTER: Well, the latest we`re hearing, Jane, now is that police believe that this Luka -- Luka Rocco Magnotta may have taken a plane to Paris, and that he may have done that on Friday, which would have been right after the murders happened.

And we have an idea of the timeline now, because we now know that that breathtakingly gruesome video of the killing was apparently posted online by Friday.

So it looks like that video depicts the actual killing of a naked Asian man, aged about 30 with many, many blows with an ice pick to the head. And the video continues with the dismemberment of the victim.

And we interviewed a professor today, by the way, who saw this video early on before any of this story broke and called the police in Toronto. They didn`t want to talk to him.

So this timeline suggests that, if he has gone to Europe, Magnotta would have had about a four-day lead, because it wasn`t until Tuesday that here in Ottawa the discovery happened of the left foot that was mailed to the governing Conservative Party and then after that the left hand that was mailed to the Liberal Party. We do know that those parts were decomposing when they arrived.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Terry, what was the relationship? Do you know anything about the relationship between the victim, who was apparently murdered on tape and decapitated, and then there`s reports that this guy presumably ate some of the body and it`s just beyond comprehension. The connection between Luka and the victim?

MILEWSKI: We don`t know. We know that it was probably a sexual relationship, though. And we also know that Magnotta is well known, that he was responding to men looking for men ads on Craigslist, for example, by sending nude and semi-nude pictures not just of himself, but of other young men. So we assume that it was some sort of sadomasochistic homosexual relationship involved here.

But the police have not yet identified the victim in this case, other than showing the neighbors photographs of an Asian man. So they obviously have some idea. It sounds like the man`s family is overseas. They`re having trouble communicating, and they`re having trouble -- they haven`t yet had -- found some DNA confirmation of the identity.

So they haven`t released it yet, but look -- look at the challenges here for the police. We`ve got body parts, literally, that are all over the map, and there are still body parts missing that may yet be in the mail. For example, they haven`t found the head yet.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Unbelievable.

Now, one of the breaks in this case is that Luka Magnotta allegedly videotaped himself stabbing the man repeatedly with an ice pick and then dismembering his victim. Apparently, his head was covered, the victim, and he was tied to this mattress. Police confirm that these videos are a key part of their investigation.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s not even confirmed his identity so talking about the possible video of the horrible crime, we`re not getting into that. But yes, part of the investigation is looking at different videos.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Here`s what we know about this video. In it, the 29- year-old self-described fashion model allegedly decapitates his victim, who is tied up, covered, his eyes covered, and he`s strapped to -- it`s believed that this Luka character ate part of the human body. And then -- I hope you`re sitting down -- he brings in a dog to eat the fresh kill. He also had sex with the corpse.

Now, one of our producers on this show watched 10 seconds of this video and had to run away from the screen. None of us proceeded to watch the rest of it, because he said you do not want to look at it. He was so shaken.

Joe Warrington, you`re a reporter with the Sun News Network out of Toronto. You have the dubious distinction, but you wrote an excellent article, of having interviewed this suspect. You actually talked to this Luka Magnotta. Your reaction to him being a suspect in this very perverse, perverse killing?

JOE WARRINGTON, REPORTER: Well, Jane, he was one of the creepiest people that I`ve ever run across in this job as a columnist, reporter and TV commentator. You know, we get to meet a lot of interesting and bizarre people, but he was right up there.

It was five years ago when he came into our newspaper here in Toronto. And he was talking about -- trying to deny that he was involved with Karla Homolka, who was one of our most notorious killers with her ex-husband, Paul Bernardo. So right there, it was clearly that he had connecting himself because, in that case, they had dismembered their victims, young females and scattered them about, three in total. So this has been very, very upsetting here for people around this country.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: I want to get a sense of what this guy was like when you talked to him. Did you sense that he might be a murderer?

WARRINGTON: Well, he had this look like, Jane, you looked into his eyes, and you didn`t see anything. He barely blinks. He had these sort of piercing eyes. A monotone way of talking and looking right through you.

Talking about, you know, his dog being killed. Talking about his SUV being stolen, his career as an escort, a male escort, making adult films, talking about drug use.

I offered -- the photographer that I was working with, Veronica Henry (ph), we offered to get him some help, medical help. This is five years ago.

And in retrospect, I mean, I just thought he was a bit of a nut bar because he had a nice kind of demeanor. I could see somebody, Jane, being you know, sucked in by it, because you really feel sorry for the guy.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: Let me just set the record straight that me and Karla have absolutely no connection. I`ve been receiving death threats. My address is posted. That`s why I had to move. I want my Pomeranian back. It was taken in my SUV.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: That was from "The Toronto Sun," an interview with the accused murderer himself, making this bizarre story even stranger.

OK. This guy is accused of killing this unidentified Asian man, chopping him up, eating part of him, and letting a dog eat another part of him, having sex with the corpse and sending it to all sorts of government officials.

As if that is not enough, OK, horror, there`s speculation that this same Luka Magnotta dated a Canadian serial killer named Karla Homolka. He denied it in the interview you just heard, but Karla and her husband, Paul Bernardo, were known as the Ken and Barbie killers for the rape and murders of two Ontario teenagers and Homolka`s own sister.

Believe it or not, she got a plea deal and was released in 2005, and apparently, now she`s like a mother of three or something.

But I`ve got to go to Wendy Walsh, psychologist, co-host, "The Doctors." This is one sick, sick, sick individual. The motive apparently was some kind of sexy, kinky sex game that got very, very sadistic and deadly.

WENDY WALSH, PSYCHOLOGIST: Yes. And we have no way of knowing whether he planned this murder or whether it was a game that went wrong, but he certainly went to great lengths to publicize it afterwards, which tells me he loves the limelight, Jane, loves that attention. He`s getting -- he`s sending body parts to high-profile places. He`s putting videos online. Clearly, this guy wants to be a superstar in some way.

And I don`t -- if he is in Paris, it`s not going to be long before he makes himself known.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, I`ve got to tell you, believe it or not, I have a connection to this case, because everybody who watches this show knows that I`m an animal advocate.

And for years I`ve been getting e-mails about somebody killing cats that animal rights activists have been looking for, and it turns out it`s the same sick person. Yes, the same person they`re looking at. He is known for videotaping himself torturing and killing kittens and then posting the disgusting videos online. Animal rights activists have wanted to find him for years, and authorities have admitted yes, they knew about this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: In terms of what kind of involvement he`s got from the criminal activities with animals and stuff like that, honestly, we heard about it, but we don`t have any conformation.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Robyn Walensky, reporter from "The Blaze," I almost fell off my chair, because I remember getting all these e-mails about him killing all these small animals and people, animal advocates around the world trying to find him. And they usually start with animals, don`t they -- Robyn.

ROBYN WALENSKY, REPORTER, "THE BLAZE": Right. I thought about you this morning when I saw this story, because this guy was videotaping himself killing these cats and suffocating them and feeding them to snakes. I mean, he is off the chart with more than one screw loose in his head.

Also, Jane, what comes to mind in this guy is that he has a little bit of a Jeffrey Dahmer-sicko-chopping up the bodies, putting some parts in the refrigerator. Some maintenance people that went into the apartment said they saw blood where you would normally keep the fruit underneath.

Also, additionally, it also sounds to me like he was watching episodes of the Showtime program "Dexter," where they had serial killers chopping up body parts and then sending them in the mail to various people.

This guy, Jane, is sick, and it does normally start with people who are this sick killing animals and then moving on to humans.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PAYETTE: Anti-social. He wouldn`t talk to anybody. I`d say hello to him, and he wouldn`t respond, not even with a head nod or anything.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Neighbors describing this accused killer, Luka Rocco Magnotta.

And he used several aliases. You see them there: Eric Clinton Newman, Vladimir Romanov. He claims that he was born in Russia, but who knows what`s made up and what`s the truth?

He also wrote a bunch of blogs about how to disappear completely by shedding your identity.

Jeff Brown, criminal defense attorney, how are guys -- how are the authorities going find this guy? He could be anywhere in the world. And he`s got numerous aliases. And he wrote a blog on how to disappear without ever being found again?

JEFF BROWN, CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Well, we`ll see just how good he is, apparently, from his blog.

You know, one of the things law enforcement does is they track credit cards, so that`s going to be one of the things they`ll be looking at. He`s going to have to be able to survive either on a new identity and new cards or with cash. So that`s one thing they`ll look for.

You know, Jane, there`s a couple of issues that still legally have to be wrapped up here. There`s been a question about whether or not the videotape shows the body is actually moving. So they`re going to have to prove that the victim was alive. They may be able to do that through the autopsy.

But they`re going to have to first prove that he`s not just guilty of mutilating a corpse, that`s it`s a real victim that`s alive at the time.

And then they`re going to have to also be able to prove that it`s him. You know, the video doesn`t show -- doesn`t reveal the guy`s identity.

So there are some loose ends that law enforcement is going to have to be spending the next couple of hours really trying to tie up. We know that it may be his apartment, but that doesn`t necessarily mean that`s him on the video. So that`s one of the things that...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Did you watch the video?

BROWN: No, I haven`t been able to see the video.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: You know, I -- my producer was shaken. He watched ten seconds of it. He ran away from the screen, because it shows an ice pick, then a decapitation, sex, necrophilia, cannibalism. I didn`t watch it. You know why? Because I care about what`s happening in my brain. I can read the transcript. I don`t need to be haunted by those images; I know they would haunt me forever.

Christine, Florida. We`re going out to the phone lines. Christine, Florida, your question or thought, Christine.

CALLER: Hi, Jane.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Hi.

CALLER: Great show.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Thank you.

CALLER: This guy, I mean, how much more between the guy eating the face off in Florida, which is where I live that just happened, and now this? I mean, what is the world coming to?

I mean, we know this guy has to be mentally ill. There is no way that a sane person can do something like this.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, I thing you bring up a great world. What the heck is happening in our world? We have this sicko, allegedly killing, eating and then sending human body parts in the mail.

Then you have what this lady referred to, that horrific scene that played out in Miami earlier this week. Miami police shot this guy, Eugene -- Rudy Eugene several times. He was literally chewing the face off a homeless man named Ronald Poppo. The horrifying attack lasted 18 minutes. Poppo lost 75 percent of his face.

They believe the suspect may have been hallucinating after taking bath salts, designer drugs. He was naked, and he didn`t even stop attacking after police shot. They had to shoot him eight times.

And then in Maryland, we`ve got another man who admitted eating his roommate`s heart and part of his brain. Honestly, I think we`ve got to bring in a shrink here.

Wendy Walsh, what on earth is happening in our society?

WALSH: Well, the media has become bigger, and we have access to this information. That`s the first thing. Because we should know, Jane, that our community, our society as a whole has actually become less violent. So let`s everyone calm down a bit.

But these isolated sociopaths exist. They`ve existed since the beginning of human time. Sometimes it has to do with atrocious acts that happen in childhood. And sometimes it just happens because there`s bad wiring in the brain, bad brain chemistry that just happens.

But it`s not an epidemic. We`re not seeing growing amounts of crazed serial killers and that`s important for people to know.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: A ghastly find of a torso in a suitcase in Montreal.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A shabby and blood-stained apartment not far from where a man`s torso was found rotting in the garbage.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Dried traces of blood on this table, the couch and the bathtub drain.

PAYETTE: It was an overwhelming smell of, like -- it was like bad meat.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The suspect is a 29-year-old model and self-styled porn actor named Luka Rocco Magnotta. He`s not known to the police and has no previous criminal record.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A severed foot was found at the Conservative Party headquarters yesterday, and a hand was discovered at a Canada post sorting center.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Who knows where the other parts were intended or sent or if there are others out there.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`ve now learned that the suspect videotaped the dismemberment of his victim.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: They are aware he had postings on YouTube. There are reports that in those videos, he was killing kittens.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We need to find the suspect, and we need to bring him to justice.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: An international manhunt as we speak for this man, 29-year-old Luka Magnotta. And he is suspected of taking a man who`s only described as an unidentified Asian male, at this point, in his house in Montreal, his apartment where he lived, tying him up to the bed, covering his eyes, stabbing him repeatedly with a pickax, and then dismembering him.

And it pains me to even say this stuff, but having sex with the corpse and then feeding part of the corpse to a dog, eating some of it himself, sending the body parts to various Canadian officials.

Now, what is this guy like? Guess what? An interview was done with him in 2007 by the "Toronto Sun". We`re going to talk to a reporter who spoke to this sicko, but first listen to the man everybody in the world is looking for tonight, Luka Magnotta.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

LUKA MAGNOTTA, MURDER SUSPECT: I want to set the record straight that me and her have absolutely no connection. I`ve been receiving death threats. My address is posted. That`s why I had to move. I want my Pomeranian back just (inaudible) in my SUV.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Joe Wormington, you did an excellent -- ok, well, he did an excellent interview with The Sun News Network, and he actually talked to this guy. And he said that as he was talking to him, he said he`s never done a stranger interview in his life. That the guy`s piercing eyes looked like they were just going to look right through him. And then he`s talking and talking to this reporter and at a certain point the reporter has decided that everything this guy is saying is completely made up.

Straight up to Meghan Hurley, crime reporter with the "Ottawa Citizen"; what do you know? What information can you bring us tonight on this very, very strange case, Meghan?

MEGHAN HURLEY, CRIME REPORTER, "OTTAWA CITIZEN" (via telephone): Well, Jane, this time, we know that man at the center of an international manhunt for the gruesome killing and dismemberment in Montreal, fled Canada for Paris on May 25th, the day that the killing took place. He`s now been charged with second-degree murder in the death of an unknown person, this person that we know is an Asian male. And that`s about all we know about the victim at this point.

We know that a video had been circulating on the Internet for several days that shows this guy repeatedly stabbing a man with an ice pick, then decapitating and dismembering the body.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Now you`re saying that you have information that he fled to France. Now, before we have been hearing that he might have fled to France, but they really don`t know where he is.

HURLEY: I`m hearing from police sources in Ottawa that he actually did, in fact, flee the country. He took a flight to Paris and landed in Paris on Friday, May 22nd. We do not know where he is at this point and whether or not he stayed in the country.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, after being sent body parts in the mail, members of the Canadian government are terrified. Listen to this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED CONSERVATIVE PARTY MEMBER: I`m troubled that someone decided that a political party was a worthy target for that particular body part. Who knows where the other body parts were intended or sent or if there are others out there?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Jeff Brown, criminal defense attorney -- I hate to be morbid -- but one of the big problems with these cases is they have not found the head of this decapitated body.

JEFF BROWN, CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Yes. You know, they`re going to have to be able to show or prove the identity of this person. And that`s certainly going to help and finding the head, of course, you know. That`s something I`m sure they all want to find out because they want to get all the body parts together. But, you know, the identity of this person that`s the other problem that we don`t have in this case.

You can convict somebody without an identity because you can prove that they are a human being, but you certainly would like to be able to know who this person is.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: We will stay on top of this story and have the latest developments tomorrow.

Luka Rocco Magnotta, Canadian porn star and suspect in body parts slay, may be in France, officials say

(CBS/AP) PARIS - A senior French official said Friday that he is "sure" the Canadian porn actor Luka Rocco Magnotta, the man suspected of killing a man he dated, making a video of the attack, and sending the victim's dismembered body parts in the mail, is in France.

Another French police official said Magnotta, 29, apparently flew to Paris from Montreal last weekend before details of the suspected crimes emerged.

Canadian Cannibal in LONDON: Fugitive killer visited UK just six months ago – could he have now returned here?

Luka Rocco Magnotta was last at Fusilier Pub in Wembley in December, when journalists confronted him over sick animal snuff films

Porn actor is suspected of murdering his lover on camera, then sending a dismembered foot to the Canadian Conservative Party

An email sent to newspaper and thought to have been written by Magnotta said: 'London is wonderful because all the people are so stupid'

Canadian police say he has 'definitely' fled to Europe and would not rule out possibility he has come back to England

Once the kitten's tail stops moving the snake swallows her whole - head first. Its cries of agony are drowned out by the Christmas song Little Drummer Boy playing in the background of the video.
At the time Magnotta was staying in a room above The Fusilier Inn, where he was tracked down and quizzed by journalists from The Sun.

Magnotta at the time denied being behind the sick footage, and he even turned up at newspaper offices to complain that reporters there were harassing him.

But shortly after, the paper received an email staff believed came from Magnotta telling of his love of London adding he would 'have to say goodbye for now'.
The email said: 'London is wonderful because all the people are so stupid.'

The message continued: 'But don't worry, in the near future you you will be hearing from me again. This time, however, the victims won’t be small animals.
'I will however, send you a copy of the new video I’m going to be making. You see, killing is different than smoking... with smoking you can actually quit.

'Once you kill, and taste blood, it’s impossible to stop.'

The email was signed off with the name John Kilbride, one of the first child victims of Moors murderers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley.

The reference to the Moors murderers offered gruesome link between the kitten killing video and those dreadful crimes - Little Drummer Boy was the same track heard on a tape Brady made of the torture and murder of Lesley Ann Downey.

Dismemberment suspect described as serial kitten-killer

OTTAWA, Ontario — He was pegged as a serial kitten-killer by animal rights activists and as a man who may have dated a Canadian woman convicted of drugging, raping, torturing and killing young girls almost two decades ago.

His images and words are all over the Internet, on porn sites and what appears to be his own website, where he defends himself as the victim of cyberstalkers out to get him. And a journalist who met him years ago described him as “creepy.”

Luka Rocco Magnotta had a plan to disappear

MONTREAL - Three years ago today, Luka Rocco Magnotta wrote a blog on “How to completely disappear and never be found.”

His advice did not include sending your victim’s body parts to politicians in the mail, or leaving them outside your apartment building in a brand new suitcase as you flee the country.

But as Interpol joined the hunt for the 29-year-old suspect Thursday, wanted for one of the most gruesome crimes ever seen in Montreal, this and other blog posts offered clues into the alleged killer’s possible escape plan – and his mind on the run.

Police sources also said the victim was in a romantic relationship with the suspect. The two lived fairly close to each other in Montreal’s west end.

Meanwhile, China’s Consulate General in Montreal asked for the community’s help to find 33-year-old Lin Jun, who hails from the east-central Chinese city of Wuhan. Family and friends, the consulate stated, lost contact with him on May 24.

Lin arrived in Montreal in July 2011. A spokesperson for the consulate said she didn’t know why he came to Montreal or what he was doing here.

A police source confirmed to La Presse on Thursday evening that Lin is the victim in the case and that he was a student at Concordia University in Montreal.

Police say international fugitive Luka Magnotta “could be anywhere” after the horrific murder and dismemberment of a 33-year-old Chinese student in Montreal last week that was filmed and posted online.

On Friday, Montreal police commander Ian Lafreniere said Magnotta “could be as far as the eastern part of Europe.” He confirmed the 29-year-old suspected murderer boarded a flight to Europe on May 26 but wouldn’t confirm the exact destination.

Accused killer Luka Rocco Magnotta linked to far-right U.S. white supremacists in message board posts
 Jun 1, 2012 – 11:53 AM ET | Last Updated: Jun 1, 2012 12:10 PM ET

A year before he became the target of an international manhunt for an alleged killing and dismemberment, Luka Rocco Magnotta was being hailed as a hero of free speech on a U.S. white nationalist website.

A May 27, 2011 post on Stormfront.org refers to Mr. Magnotta as “an open white supremacist” and claims he was being forced to flee Canada and return to Russia because of “his views on white supremacy.”

The post, by a forum member named reddragon1, said Magnotta “is of Russian/Italian heritage,” was born in Tolyatti, Russia, moved to Canada at age five and went to the United States to work in modeling and adult entertainment.

“However, after he published his website supporting the freeze on immigration to America and Canada, he was bombarded with hate mail and his website was removed,” the post read. “His websites were frequently targeted and removed.”

It quoted Mr. Magnotta’s website as lamenting that “blacks get their own countries, Chinese get their own countries … however if white people want their own countries then we are denied that right.”

Magnotta’s disturbed, disturbing, disgusting...
looking in his eyes

Reporter on encounter with 'killer'
Published: Today at 00:12

I MET Luka Magnotta six months ago — and I’m still feeling shaken by the encounter.

He was without doubt one of the most disturbed and disturbing individuals I have ever encountered.

I was asked to try to find him after his name came up in connection with a story about a vile video posted on the internet in which a kitten was fed to a python.

Then the 29-year-old Canadian — now wanted over a cannibal killing — turned up at The Sun’s London offices to deny something we had not yet asked him about. His behaviour was highly suspicious.

Magnotta investigators buried in tips
Friday, June 01, 2012 12:45 PM EDT

MONTREAL - Police have received more than 200 tips in their search for murder suspect Luka Magnotta, one of the world's most wanted men in the killing and dismemberment of a Chinese student in a tiny west-end Montreal apartment.

Police say they have never seen such a deluge of photos, phone calls and other information for a murder suspect in such a short period of time.

But that won't necessarily make it easier to find the 29-year-old Toronto native, who fancies himself as a slippery figure and who's believed to have written a 2009 blog entitled "How To Disappear Completely And Never Be Found."

Luka Rocco Magnotta Monaco arrest rumours denied as police hint fugitive has returned to Canada

Jun 1, 2012 – 4:13 PM ET | Last Updated: Jun 1, 2012 4:48 PM ET

Authorities in Monaco today were forced to quash rumours the target of an international manhunt for an alleged killing and dismemberment had been arrested in the tiny European principality.

As Montreal police revealed there was a possibility Luka Rocco Magnotta could have returned to Canada under an assumed identity after fleeing for France on May 26, rumours the fugitive was apprehended in Monaco circulated on Twitter and were published on a English-speaking website in France.

New charges in body parts case: threats against PM, MPs, corrupting morals
June 1, 2012 4:52 PM

OTTAWA — Additional charges were filed against Luka Rocco Magnotta at the Montreal courthouse on Friday, including two that alleged he mailed the body parts that were sent to Ottawa.

The new indictment includes a charge that on May 25, Magnotta “did act towards [Prime Minister] Stephen Harper and members of Parliament, knowing they were being harassed or being reckless as to whether they were being harassed.” The charge appears to involve the package that arrived at Conservative Party headquarters in Ottawa on Tuesday at around the same time the homicide victim’s torso was discovered in Montreal.

The charge is covered by a section of the Criminal Code that covers uttering threats. It carries a maximum 2-year prison sentence.

Magnotta is also charged with using the mail system “for the purpose of transmitting or delivering anything that is obscene, indecent, immoral or scurrilous,” also an offence punishable by up to two years in prison.

The third additional charge — besides first-degree murder and committing an indignity to a body — involves the video Magnotta allegedly posted on the Internet, where he is believed to be the person depicted dismembering a body. The charge is part of a section of the Criminal Code called “corrupting morals.”

Polite, reliable body-parts victim hadn't missed a shift until disappearance: boss
The Canadian Press Jun 01, 2012 16:22:00 PM

MONTREAL - A university student identified as the victim of a gruesome killing and dismemberment is being described by his boss as a model employee who never missed a shift — until last Friday.

The owner of a Montreal convenience store says Jun Lin was a responsible, polite cashier who worked around 10 hours per week.

Police have launched an international manhunt for a porn actor named Luka Rocco Magnotta in connection with Lin's death late last week.

Lin's employer, Kankan Huang, says he knew something was amiss when the 33-year-old didn't show up for work last week.

Canadian killer warned British tabloid in email sent from Holland
1 June 2012

OTTAWA, ONTARIO (BNO NEWS) -- A Canadian man suspected of killing a man and mailing parts of his victim's body to the headquarters of political parties in Ottawa is believed to have sent an email warning to a British tabloid in December 2011, the publication reported on Friday.

After The Sun published a story about 29-year-old Luka Rocco Magnotta in December last year, he showed up unannounced at the tabloid's office in London to deny he was responsible for a video which showed kittens being suffocated inside a vacuum seal bag and a more recent video showing a kitten being fed to a python.

However, just days after Magnotta's visit, The Sun newspaper received a mysterious e-mail on December 10. The email was written under the name John Kilbride, a possible reference to a 12-year-old British boy who was brutally murdered by serial killer Ian Brady in November 1963.

"Well, I have to say goodbye for now, but dont worry, in the near future you will be hearing from me again," the email, riddled with typos, said. "This time, however, the victims wont be small animals. I will however, send you a copy of the new video im going to be making. You see, killing is different than smoking ... with smoking you can actually quit."

The writer, who is believed to be Magnotta, goes on and further hints at taking his killings to a new level. "Once you kill, and taste blood, its impossible to stop. The urge is just too strong not to continue," the email said. "Next time you hear from me it will be in a movie I am producing, that will have some humans in it, not just pussys. :) The things I have seen and the things I have done, you can only imagine."

The writer of the email also indicates his interest in one of the tabloid's male journalists. "You have some very sexy journilists (sic) at your paper :) I have one im very keen on now. He was very sexy," the writer says. Magnotta, who is bisexual, previously worked as a low-budget pornographic actor.

The email also indicates the person derives pleasure from taunting people. "You know, the fun part of all this is watching millions of people get angry and frustrated because they cant catch me. Thats why I love this. I love the risk factor. Its so fun watching people work so hard gathering all the evidence, then not being able to name me or catch me," the person writes. "You see, I always win, I always hold the trump card, and I will continue to make more movies."

He concludes the email with: "Well, it was fun f[explicit] around with everyone, so have a merry christmas and a happy new years. I know I will. :) Getting away with all this, now thats genius. Signed, Yours Truly. (Or is it?)"

Luka Rocco Magnotta may do it again, warns psychiatrist who examined Paul Bernardo
June 1, 2012 4:14 PM

OTTAWA — The forensic psychiatrist famed for examining sex killer Paul Bernardo says he fears that the person who killed and dismembered a man in Montreal may kill again.

"If it is sexual and he has gone to this extreme, then I think the risk of killing again in a serial way goes higher," Dr. John Bradford said in an interview. "So that is my worry about this."

JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL
Manhunt for Porn Star Murderer
Aired May 31, 2012 - 19:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, HOST: He was talking about helping children. I think he should really forget about all of that and focus on healing himself. That`s the key.

Now here`s what`s happening. I`m Jane Velez-Mitchell coming to you live from New York City. A porn star accused of killing and dismembering his victim, then sending body parts all over the country. And he allegedly did this all on videotape. An international manhunt is on right now for this possible serial killer. A very strange man with absolutely no conscience next.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

VELEZ-MITCHELL (voice-over): Tonight, a crime more gruesome than the plot of any horror movie. A porn actor accused of murdering and dismembering another man and then mailing body parts to political organizations and even sending video of the murder to a fetish Web site. Tonight the manhunt for suspect Luka Rocco Magnotta goes international. We`ll go inside the mind of this so-called male model.

And did smoking bath salts make a Florida man so crazy that he ate a homeless man`s face?

Also, another pastor under fire after a video of a 3-year-old boy singing an anti-gay song in church goes viral. We`ll show you the pastor and his adult congregation cheering the boy on. Why are kids being taught to hate in church?

Plus, the great sugar debate. The mayor of New York City wants to ban large sugary drinks in the battle against obesity. What do you think? We want to hear from you and are taking your calls.

RICHARD PAYETTE, NEIGHBOR: It was an overwhelming smell of, like -- it was like bad meat.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

Luka Rocco Magnotta arrested in Berlin, German police say
Jun 4, 2012

Luka Rocco Magnotta was arrested in Berlin this morning, German police say.

The 29-year-old Canadian wanted for a horrific Montreal murder was arrested in an Internet cafe, according to the Bild newspaper.

The report comes just as French authorities said they were investigating the theory that Magnotta travelled from Paris to Berlin via bus.

German police spokesperson Stefan Rieldich told CP24 that a person recognized Magnotta and called police Monday.

Rieldich said Magnotta has been taken into custody and may go in front of a judge tomorrow.

Canadian officials are expected to travel to Berlin to take Magnotta into their custody in the near future.

'OK, you got me' - body parts suspect
2012-06-04 20:18

Berlin - A 29-year-old Canadian porn actor accused of videotaping a killing and mailing the victim's body parts to the country's top political parties has been arrested in Germany, officials in both countries said.

Luka Rocco Magnotta was apprehended on Monday in an internet cafe in Berlin after a person recognised him and alerted police, Berlin police spokesperson Kerstin Ziesmer said.

The owner of the cafe, in Berlin's working-class Neukoelln district, told The Associated Press that Magnotta had come in to read news reports about himself when one of his employees recognised him.

"A colleague recognised him from his photo, because he'd just read the newspaper," said the owner, who spoke on condition that he not be identified by name.

He said the police happened to be outside at the time, and the employee alerted them and they arrested Magnotta at about 14:00 without difficulty.

"Nothing happened, it all went very quietly," he said.

Berlin police confirmed that the arrest went without incident, saying that Magnotta initially tried giving false names but then conceded "OK, you got me".

Luka Rocco Magnotta’s arrest caught on camera in Berlin

The surveillance footage from inside the Internet café, obtained by The Associated Press, show Magnotta strolling casually into the café at about noon local time in jeans, a green hoodie and wearing sunglasses.

Unlike footage taken only days before in airport security where he had dark, medium-length hair, he was sporting a short, blonde haircut.

In the video, he speaks shortly to the Internet café’s desk person, before walking to his assigned computer, where witnesses would see him reading news coverage about himself.

Canadian body parts suspect arrested in Berlin
June 4, 2012

 ::snipping2::
Magnotta is wanted by Canadian authorities on suspicion of killing Jun Lin, a 33-year-old man he dated, in Canada, and mailing his body parts to two of Canada's top political parties before fleeing to Europe.

They say Magnotta filmed the murder of the Chinese student in his Montreal studio apartment and posted it online. The video shows a man with an ice pick stabbing another naked, bound male. He also dismembers the corpse and performs sexual acts with it in what police called a horrifying video.

The warning signs apparently were already there. For nearly two years animal activists had been looking for a man who tortured and killed cats and posted videos of his cruelty online. Since Lin's murder, Montreal police have released a photo from the video which they say is of Magnotta.

In 2005, Magnotta was accused of sexually assaulting a woman, but the charges were dropped, the lawyer who represented him at the time said.

Magnotta is believed to have fled to France on May 26, based on evidence police found at his apartment and a blog he once posted about disappearing.

In Germany, surveillance camera footage of the Internet cafe, obtained by The Associated Press, showed Magnotta casually walking in to the shop at noon local time, wearing jeans, a green hoodie sweater and sunglasses.

He briefly spoke to the Internet cafe's desk person, then walked off to his assigned computer with the number 25 where he would later be spotted reading the news about his case.

About two hours later, seven German police officers are seen walking into the shop, without any haste or dispointed arms.

On the camera footage, three police officers are seen accompanying the handcuffed Magnotta a couple of minutes after they first entered the cafe. Magnotta calmly walks alongside them, again wearing sunglasses.

In Germany, police spokeswoman Kerstin Ziesmer said Magnotta is being questioned, and will be brought before a judge behind closed doors.
"He says he is the wanted person," she added, while cautioning that his identity must still be independently confirmed by German authorities.

Canada, like Europe, has no death penalty, making extradition more likely. Quebec bureau of prosecutions spokesman Rene Verret said it could still take a long time to get him back to Canada, but he said if Magnotta doesn't contest the order he could be returned within a couple of weeks.

BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A global man hunt may have paid off. Police think the man suspected of mailing body parts in Canada is in custody in Germany.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The suspect is a 29-year-old model and self-styled porn actor named Luka Rocco Magnotta.

He has no previous criminal record. A severed foot was found at the Conservative Party headquarters and a hand was found at a Canada Post sorting center.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Who knows where the other body parts were intended or sent or if there are others out there.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We have now learned that the suspect videotaped the dismemberment of his victim.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: They are aware he had postings on YouTube. There are reports that in those videos he was killing kittens.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Police say they nabbed him at an Internet cafe in Berlin, Germany thousands of miles from the scenes of his alleged crimes.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Tonight a suspected, brutal, vicious killer at the center of a global man hunt caught in a spectacular fashion. Luka Magnotta caught on surveillance camera at a security checkpoint in France. Look, there he is going through the metal detectors. Then less than 24 hours ago, an alert cafe manager spotted him in Berlin, Germany Internet cafe and called cops who arrested him.

Listen to how it all went down.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Walked in down there, apparently took his glasses off and said "Monsieur, Internet." And the employee said as soon as he took his glasses off he recognized him and he showed him over to this space here, number 25, sat him down and decided to sort of check to see whether it was the man whose picture has obviously been all over the national press.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And why did he risk going into a public place? Police say vanity got the best of him. Magnotta was looking up news reports about himself. Listen to this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

COMMANDER IAN LAFRENIERRE, CANADIAN POLICE: We said from the beginning the web had been used for him, glorify himself and we believe that`s the web that had brought him down.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: 29-year-old Magnotta accused of viciously murdering this man, Jun Lin, a 33-year-old Chinese university student that was his reported former lover. Cops say Magnotta filed the murder and he catches on video dismembering the body, eating some of his human victim`s flesh, then he has sex with the corpse and then he mails body parts to different political and government officials.

I want to go to Joe Warmington, reporter, Sun News Network out of Toronto; Joe, does it surprise you that he was caught because he couldn`t stop himself from going to an Internet cafe and looking up, oh, the spectacle of everybody in the world hunting for him?

JOE WARMINGTON, REPORTER, SUN NEWS NETWORK: No, Jane, as we talked about last time I was on with you, it`s one of these things where he was obviously looking for attention. I mean you can`t get any more public than that, Jane, right there in an Internet cafe in Berlin. So this is pretty well what we thought he would do.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well we`ve uncovered some footage of Magnotta during the interview back in 2007. And he`s talking about being a porn star and a male escort. Listen to this from Naked News.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

LUKA MAGNOTTA, SUSPECT IN THE MURDER OF JUN LIN: I`m not standing in street corners soliciting in any way. I`m not a hooker. A car drives by, you only get $20 or something like that.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Right.

MAGNOTTA: I`m have really high end, high class clientele, who I cater to.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Right.

MAGNOTTA: And what they can all -- I don`t believe tell a lot of family and friends because, you know, a stereotype is associated with it. It`s just not acceptable in our culture basically.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Rachael Bell, clinic forensic therapist, he`s whining about having been a male escort and a porn star. Do you think rage could have built up and he was seeking sort of retribution and vengeance against the world for having to basically have sex with people he didn`t want to have sex with for money?

RACHAEL BELL, CLINIC FORENSIC THERAPIST: I think rage is one of the key components, gain, but I also think a lot of fear and narcissism may play a part as well.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: More breaking news in a second, but first your "Viral Video of the Day".

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

(VIRAL VIDEO OF THE DAY)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: There`s got to be a timeline on being an escort. So what`s your plan for the future?

MAGNOTTA: Well, since I`m only 18, like I have a lot more years ahead of me.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Right.

MAGNOTTA: Well, yes, you know, you can last as long as, you know, it`s a question of supply and demand. You know, if people like your look, then they`re going to call you -- if people are attracted to you, then they`re going to call you.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: That man behind bars, accused of one of the sickest crimes in recent memory. The murder, dismemberment and flesh eating of his victim and sending the body parts to government officials in Canada and guess what? There were warning signs if you can believe it.

This case even has ties to Playboy. For years, two Playboy models, the Barbie twins, they`re very, very well known in Hollywood, also animal activists. And they were on the hunt for this Magnotta man because he was at the center of a kitten killing video scandal. Ok.

Now I want to go out to Sia Barbi, again former Playboy model, animal rights activist. This guy was allegedly killing kittens on video and then uploading those to the Internet. What was your frustration as you tried to get him to stop that and get police to take it seriously?

SIA BARBI, ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVIST: Jane, we just finished in November 2010 campaigning for the (inaudible). So in December when people started to give us these videos of these kittens basically being murdered with a vacuum, it was frustrating because we couldn`t get any attention from authorities or animal organizations, all the big ones except for Rescue Inc. That put up a $5,000 reward. And Last Chance for Animals that was the only big organization that said that they were --

VELEZ-MITCHELL: What about the police, Sia? What about the police.

BARBI: The police wanting to work with the animal organizations, they didn`t even in the beginning want to work with that Facebook group, a bunch of brilliant kids that helped crack it as well. In fact, that Facebook group was started by a 14-year-old girl that got so --

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Ok. Let me jump in for one second --

BARBI: Yes.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: -- and I`m sorry to interrupt you. We have all heard that animal abuse is only the first step on the path to possibly becoming a murder. In fact, Northwestern University did a study. People who abuse animals are five times more likely to commit violent crimes against humans.

Take Ted Bundy, the infamous American serial killer. He tortured animals before he killed people -- there he is. Andrew Cunanan, the sole suspect in the fashion designer, Versace`s murder, he allegedly tortured crabs by burning eyes with matches.

Chris Derose, you`re the president of Last Chance for Animals, you`re also an undercover investigator; you tried to go after this Luka Magnotta years ago for torturing cats and putting the videos online. Why didn`t police take that seriously because he actually allegedly told the Sun News "I`m not going to stop with kittens. The next I`m going to do is not a small animal." He actually foreshadowed this, Chris?

CHRIS DEROSE, PRESIDENT, LAST CHANCE FOR ANIMALS: Yes, I`m here. I can barely hear you, though.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Go ahead, what`s your point.

DEROSE: Very quickly, I`m not sure what you were saying there; but on my end here we have been saying this for years: there`s a direct correlation between animal abuse and spousal abuse. There`s a direct correlation between animal abuse and violent offenders in prison and most certainly almost all serial killers have started out on animals.

This should be a beacon of light, a warning, that we should start looking at these people, these young people that are doing this to animals, the potential of what they can do to humans. I really think that this case is going to bring it to light even for the dumbest of people to realize what it is that the indications are.

This is such a direct indication.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(AUDIO GAP)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

(LAUGH BREAK)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: Yes, you know, I really do enjoy my work. I get to meet new people all the time. And, you know, I`m a people person.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: He`s a good person. Now he`s accused among the most horrific crime -- that from Naked News.

Now Luka Magnotta`s alleged flesh eating isn`t the only case like this. Cops in Miami say the man ate the flesh off another man, a homeless man`s face, and cops now say the attacker was using a designer drug called "bath salts". Another man admits he was addicted to bath salts and spoke about the hideous side effects. Listen to this.

BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

FREDDY SHARP, FORMER BATH SALTS ADDICT: I never experienced anything like that, doing the bath salts or anything like that before. And it really actually scared me pretty bad. Because I was hallucinating about being in a mental institution, in an insane asylum, basically, and something about Jason Bourne, getting possessed by him, and I felt all kinds of crazy.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Rachael Bell, clinical forensic therapist. Bath salts can really turn a person into some kind of monster.

BELL: Yes, bath salts can. I`ve seen numerous crimes with drug- induced psychosis. And oftentimes it`s temporary, but I don`t believe this was the case with Magnotta. I really believe that his motivation was primarily power and control. And I believe he was sadistic. He had definite narcissistic traits.

Luka Rocco Magnotta linked to grisly 2011 cold case killing in Quebec
 Jun 5, 2012

MONTREAL — Police in the Quebec town of Gatineau will examine evidence gathered against Luka Rocco Magnotta for a possible connection to a grisly 2011 murder that has since stumped detectives.

Magnotta was arrested in Germany on Monday in connection with the death and dismemberment of a university student in Montreal.

A spokesperson for the Gatineau force said it would contact Montreal police shortly to see whether any link exists between Magnotta and the killing of Valerie Leblanc.

Sgt. Jean-Paul Lemay stressed it was routine procedure for police to look for connections given the distinct nature of both crimes.

Leblanc’s body was discovered with severe head trauma and was also burned.

Montreal police said today they have been in contact with law enforcement officials from across North America, raising the possibility Magnotta could yet face more charges.

Packages containing human remains sent to two Vancouver schools
June 5, 2012 8:02 PM

VANCOUVER — Vancouver police are investigating the grisly discovery of what they describe as a human hand and foot, which were mailed in separate packages to a pair of Vancouver schools today.

The first package, which contained the hand, was opened by a staff member at False Creek elementary school, shortly after 1 p.m. The second package, containing what appeared to be a human foot, was received by staff members at St. George's School later on.

B.C. Coroner's spokeswoman Barbara McLintock said the contents of one of the packages has been sent to Vancouver General Hospital, where it is being examined by a forensic pathologist.

"If it's what we fear it is, it's highly suspicious," she said.

Magnotta appears to have had links to Vancouver.

His 2007 bankruptcy filing showed his biggest outstanding debt was $6,882 owed to an auto-leasing company in Burnaby, according to the Ottawa Citizen.

Police confirm human remains were sent to two schools in Vancouver Tuesday.

The first package was found at an elementary school around 2:00 p.m. Calgary time.

A staff member opened the package that police say contained a human hand.

Another package containing a human foot was sent to a private school.

The BC Coroners Service and VPD Major Crimes are investigating.

Human remains delivered to Vancouver schools, as Magnotta sits in Berlin jail
June 5, 2012

 ::snipping2::

Vancouver police said Tuesday that a human hand and foot had been delivered to two schools earlier in the day. Police told a news conference the body parts had been discovered by school staff when they opened the packages.

Police said they can't confirm whether the packages are connected to the Montreal case but they have contacted police there.

At a Montreal news conference earlier Tuesday, Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere said more body parts had been recovered from a garbage heap behind Magnotta's building.

But he said one of Lin's hands, one of his feet and his head are still unaccounted for.

"Were they shipped to different locations?" Lafreniere asked.

"We've got no indication (of this) whatsoever, but we're not taking any chances... We're working closely with the postal services to see if there could have been something (else) shipped."

Montreal Police Service spokeswoman Const. Ani Lemieux told The Province her department’s Major Crime Squad has been in discussions with the Vancouver Police Department to determine if there is a link between the grisly findings in Vancouver and the Magnotta file.

“We are trying to see if there is a link to be made,” Lemieux said.

She added that an arm, leg and the head of a Chinese student believed to have been slain by Magnotta have not been recovered.

From what I've read about the video, he ate part of the body and then brought in a dog and allowed it to eat.  There may be parts that are never found due to consumption.  Sick, sick, sick

JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL
Is Canadian Murder Suspect a Serial Killer?
Aired June 5, 2012 - 19:00   ET
THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

ANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, HOST: People from around the world are obsessed with the royals, and they will always love the pageantry. You don`t see it anywhere else. The planet needs it.

Tonight, could a murder videotaped and posted online be just the beginning? Police now looking at unsolved, grisly murder cases to see whether suspected killer and porn star Luka Magnotta, who cops say dismembered and ate the flesh of his victim could have killed others in the very same way.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

VELEZ-MITCHELL (voice-over): Tonight, sex, lies, videotape and murder. Cops capture Canadian porn star Luka Magnotta on charges of murder, dismemberment and the flesh eating of his former lover. Now, they`re looking at unsolved murder cases to see if this is just the beginning. Is Magnotta addicted to infamy?

We`ll examine eerie parallels to the infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. Plus, we`re taking your calls.

And disturbing signs of a stunning double life as police bust a 41- year-old Texas socialite they say traded hundreds of stomach-churning child porn photos and videos online from inside her mega-mansion. You will not believe what cops say this Dallas mom admitted in lockup. So why is she out of jail tonight? And what do you really know about the neighbor next door?

And getting fit on the fly from Muscles Magician, Tom Huff.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`re still missing the head. The head is still missing.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: he hunt for the Ontario-born man has gone international.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Get him back to Canada to face charges of first- degree murder.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He`s known as Luka Rocco Magnotta.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Having repeatedly (ph) abused the corpse of the man he killed, his former boyfriend.

LUKA ROCCO MAGNOTTA, MURDER SUSPECT: You know, I`m not a people person.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s a real human being getting decapitated in front of the video, in front of the camera.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And a hand was discovered at a Canada Post sorting center.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Who knows where the other body parts were intended or sent in, or if there are others out there.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`ve now learned that the suspect videotaped the dismemberment of his victim.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He was apprehended in an Internet cafe.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: For having mailed his body parts to politicians across Canada.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The torso found stuffed in a suitcase behind an apartment in Montreal.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: One hand and one foot are still missing at this moment.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: The porn star fugitive has now been captured and is headed home to face a murder charge. But big questions: did he cannibalize his victim? Is he another Jeffrey Dahmer?

Jane Velez-Mitchell coming to you live from New York City tonight.

Take a look at this mug shot. Luka Magnotta, the man accused of setting up a camera and videotaping himself murdering, dismembering and, yes, even eating the flesh of his victim. Look at how sinister he is.

Cops say his victim, 33-year-old Jun Lin, was once a lover of Magnotta`s. Cops say on the video, Magnotta also has sex with the corpse.

The victim`s torso was found behind Magnotta`s Montreal apartment, but the victim`s head is still missing tonight.

Now, cops worry there could be more victims. Could the man whose body parts were scattered near the Hollywood sign back in January be one of those victims? It`s still an unsolved case.

Magnotta fled to Europe and was caught in Berlin, Germany, yesterday at an Internet cafe. He was suffering the Internet, reading articles about himself when he was recognized by an employee, who quickly called cops.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE (through translator): He came in. He said, "Monsieur? Internet?"

I said, "OK, 25." And that was it, really.

know him from somewhere, I thought. He`s well known somehow, because I read a lot. I looked in the papers and said, "That`s him who they`re looking for, the porno killer."

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Now, that guy`s a hero tonight. When arrested, Magnotta said, "You got me." Today in a Berlin court, he did not object to being extradited back home to Canada.

Cops in Montreal have their work cut out for them. They don`t even have every part of the victim yet. Listen to this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The head is still missing, and we`ve got one hand and one foot still missing at this moment. This is kind of -- I hate to say that, but this is what it is, actually.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: His left hand and left foot were sent in the mail to politicians. His torso was found behind his apartment in a suitcase. But his head, right hand and right foot are still missing tonight.

Do you think this is just the tip of the iceberg? Call me: 1-877-JVM- SAYS, 1-877-586-7297.

Straight out to CBC reporter Peter Akman out of Montreal.

Peter, we`re up to date now, but let`s move the story forward. What can you tell us about cops currently checking out cold, unsolved cases?

PETER AKMAN, CBC REPORTER: Well, that`s right. They mentioned this morning during the press conference, when they were rolling out some new information, that they were looking at cold-case files not only here in Montreal, but also in the surrounding area. We`re only about an hour from the United States border. So they are looking around. They are checking with police agencies right across this region. And they`re looking to see if there are any links.

Now keep in mind that Magnotta, he not only used that one name, Luka Magnotta, but he also used several other names that he had used online in his tweets, his posts, his things like that. So they are checking all of those backgrounds, all of those names to find out if there are any links to other cold-case files.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Police have yet to find that head of the man Magnotta`s accused of murdering on videotape. Cops say he mailed one hand to a Canadian politicians, one foot to another political party, the dead man`s torso found inside a suitcase behind the apartment building. But the victim`s head, a foot and a hand are still missing.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Still missing three body parts. Were they shipped a different location? We`re talking about this. We`re getting no indication whatsoever, but we`re not taking any chances. We`re working, talking to the postal services to see if there could have been something shipped.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Investigative journalist Jon Lieberman, could the missing head have also been dropped in the mail? Or dare I say -- I can`t believe I`m uttering these words -- could he have done something even more gruesome with that head, given that cops say he videotaped himself eating a part of the corpse and feeding a part of the corpse to a dog.

JON LIEBERMAN, INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST: I`ve never seen anything like this. I just spoke to a Toronto homicide detective who said they`ve opened all of their files now, looking at cold cases. He believes, this detective, that this guy has killed before. He watched the videotape. He said this is not what they call a rookie killing, a first-time killing.

The second thing is, cops believe this guy may have hid the head as a trophy. So he`s the only one who knows where it is. This is a guy who loves the attention. Cops are counting on the fact that once they get him back to Canada, perhaps he will start talking and reveal where the head is so it will become a big deal and he`ll get credit for telling where that head is.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Briefly, I`m here with Lisa Bloom, noted attorney and author. I did not want to pollute my mind with that video. You, though, Jon, actually watched the video very briefly. Give us your gut reaction.

LIEBERMAN: Never seen anything like it. I mean, he uses an ice pick and he digs out different parts of the muscles, cuts off limbs. At one point, he has a fork and a knife in his hand, and it looks like he`s actually digging into a portion of the victim`s rear end.

Not to mention that he brings in a dog and basically has the dog, you know, feast at the man. Then he`s rubbing body parts against his crotch. I mean, never seen anything like it.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: OK. Police -- we`re getting word right now from my producer that police are investigating the Web site that put the video of the murder up, because they want to see, you know, how far the -- this goes. I mean, this could be the tip of the iceberg. I mean, are we talking about another Jeffrey Dahmer here?

You know, there are some chilling similarities between Magnotta and this infamous American serial killer we`ve all come to know as Jeffrey Dahmer, who was also a cannibal like Magnotta. He allegedly videotaped himself -- Magnotta videotaped himself killing kittens, allegedly. Dahmer`s parents testified he dismembered and experimented on dead cats and animals. Dahmer`s murders had a sexual aspect to them, as well, just as Magnotta`s did.

Listen.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

EFFREY DAHMER, SERIAL KILLER: This was a case to tell the world that I did what I did not for reasons of hate. I hated no one. I knew I was sick or evil or both. Now I believe I was sick. The doctors have told me about my sickness, and now I have some peace.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Joe Warmington, reporter, Sun News Network, you interviewed Luka Magnotta. Do you think, given that Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 men and boys in about 12 years, do you think Magnotta could be another Jeffrey Dahmer?

JOE WARMINGTON, REPORTER, "SUN NEWS NETWORK": Oh, there`s no question about it. I think he could have also inspired him, too, Jane. And I covered some of the Jeffrey Dahmer thing, so I remember it.

I just wanted to break a little news that I was just handed from my colleagues at the Sun News Network and that the Vancouver police have just indicated that they`re investigating finding two body parts 00 I repeat two body parts -- sent to two schools in Vancouver. It`s just breaking now. And so, you know, interesting you mentioned about the head earlier. We don`t know what they are, but there`s three pieces missing, and maybe two have shown up, Jane.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: You said that -- to schools? These body parts were sent to schools?

WARMINGTON: Yes. That`s right. They were sent to two schools, and they received them today. Vancouver Police on the West Coast here in Canada have just -- they`re investigating. and now it`s breaking ten seconds ago. And it`s -- so, you know, the clues, I don`t know they`re, Jane. We`ll have to find out.

But this puts it to five, and so it will be interesting to see, I think your previous guest mentioned, the head. Because, you know, it could be that. And maybe that is the trophy, and that`s the one piece that we don`t know where it is. And it does remind us a lot of Jeffrey Dahmer. There`s no question about it.

Particularly, you know, you deal with this Asian victim, which there was in the Jeffrey Dahmer case. And the fact that it was just this brazen, right in the middle of Milwaukee; here, right in the middle of Montreal and also Berlin. Very crazy stuff, Jane.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: It`s very crazy; it`s very disturbing.

Let`s go to the phone lines. Kathy, Texas. Your question or thought, Kathy.

CALLER: Yes, hi, Jane.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Hi.

CALLER: I want to say that this guy is a complete psycho. First of all, he`s ruined (ph) corpses. But unlike Dahmer, Dahmer had these other issues that he wanted to be something. I think this guy did it just for the publicity. I think he did it for shock value. I think he did this. He did (UNINTELLIGIBLE)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Absolutely. And let me bring in Lisa Bloom. There are those who say he`s addicted to infamy. He was caught looking at stories of himself. He risked his capture and was captured because he couldn`t stop himself from looking at it.

BLOOM: He couldn`t look away from all of the coverage about him. Unfortunately, now we`re giving him more attention, but it`s all negative attention.

And you know, to me, Jane, one of the most important parts of the story is the animal abuse. And this is why we have to stop animal abusers early and we have to prosecute them vigorously, because they so often end up abusing humans, even brutally murdering humans like we saw here. And like we saw with Jeffrey Dahmer, it so often is a precursor when they start out with animals. Him with little kittens.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: I wasn`t (ph) out standing on a street corner soliciting. Anyway (ph), a hooker. You know, a car drives by and you get $20 or something like that. You know, I`m -- I meet, usually, high-end type clients. You know, the clientele who I cater to.

Right. And they, you know, I don`t really tell a lot of family and friends because you know, the stereotype is associated with it. You know, it`s just not acceptable in our -- in our culture, basically.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: There is a suspected, now captured, alleged killer on Naked News (ph), talking about how he enjoyed the sex trade.

I want to go to this issue of vorarephilia. Rachael Bell, forensic clinical therapist, author of "Sexual Obsessions Gone Wrong," what is vorarephilia, and why is this Magnotta character described as a vorarephiliac?

RACHAEL BELL, AUTHOR, FORENSIC CLINICAL THERAPIST: Hi, Jane. Hope you`re doing well.

Paraphilias are basically sexual urges or fixations that often overtake one`s social life and have significant legal ramifications, social ramifications. And it`s a psychosexual disorder that we see in a lot of these cases that you`ve been bringing up.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Spell it out in plain English. Is it somebody who gets turned on by a cannibalistic act? Is that what you`re saying?

BELL: Yes. That`s exactly what I`m saying. He`s getting turned on. He`s got what you call sexual cannibalism, where he gets sexual gratification from actually eating other people.

He also has what we would term necrophilia, which is interest in having sex with a corpse. So usually when you have one paraphilia, Jane, you have more than one. You have several. And I think that`s what we`re dealing with. This, coupled with other psychiatric issues. Definitely narcissistic personality disorder.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: It`s unbelievable.

And animal rights activists, as Lisa Bloom mentioned, have been hunting for Magnotta for years because of the many, many kitten mutilation videos he allegedly posted online. We did a Google search for "Magnotta kitten killing video" and got a whopping 309,000 results.

You know, I want to go out to Chris DeRose from Last Chance for Animals. Maybe if police had taken his crimes against animals more seriously and hunted this guy down over the years that he posted, allegedly, these horrific video, this Chinese exchange student might be alive today, Chris DeRose.

CHRIS DEROSE, LAST CHANCE FOR ANIMALS: Right. That`s right, Jane. I`m glad that Lisa Bloom said that she said, because it is that correlation. It`s a direct correlation between doing the animal cruelty, animal abuse, and doing it on humans. It`s next.

When I saw these videos on the cats almost two years ago, I had warned the people that this would probably wind up leading to doing it on human beings.

We try to tell law enforcement agencies this all the time. The FBI knows about it. They feel -- that`s one of the top three things that they look at, animal cruelty. Animal cruelty, they know that this is a good chance it could be a serial killer.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right, Chris, we`re going to interrupt you, because law enforcement in Vancouver holding a news conference about the two body parts that have just surfaced, apparently headed to schools. Listen.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: ... where the packages were mailed. Investigators will meet with any outside police agencies as required. The schools are currently cordoned off as forensic examination continues at each location. There`s no indication that any students or staff have been targeted at either school.

And I`d just like to say that this must have been a very, very traumatic incident for all involved at the schools that were involved in opening these packages, and the Vancouver Police Department will assist in any way we can with our Victim Services section.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I have to say that the investigation is only a few hours old now, so I can`t link it to anything right now. As we progress in the investigation, we will provide as much information as we can.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Are you talking to Montreal?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We have liaised with Montreal, and we`ll liaise with any other police agencies that we need to in the course of the investigation.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I -- I can`t discuss it any more than that at this early stage of the investigation.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No, I don`t have a description of them yet. It`s so early in the investigation.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I can`t say.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I don`t have that. I don`t -- I don`t have the details of the packages at this time, as this is only a few hours old. I believe that the one package was delivered at about 1 p.m. today. So it`s still very early in the investigation.

But as soon as we get those details, we`ll bring them forward. Yes.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They`ve been physically examined by the police at the scene.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Again, a news conference, authorities in Canada saying two body parts were sent to two different schools. This is a horror story.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: Yes, you know, I really do enjoy my work. I get to meet new people all the time, and, you know, I`m a people person.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: That from Naked News.

And we`ve got breaking news out of Canada, a news conference being held as we speak. We just brought it to you live where authorities announced that the last two limbs, the body parts were sent to two schools in Canada.

So last week we had a foot -- it`s hard to keep up with all these. A foot and a hand or two feet?

LIEBERMAN: A foot and a hand.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: A foot and a hand sent to political parties. Now we have another foot and another hand sent to schools. The head`s still missing.

What do you make of it? Lisa Bloom, legal analyst at Avo.com (ph)? He wanted to drag this out as long as possible. Once he sends the head to someone, as disgusting as that is, then the victim is identifiable. If he`s sending limbs, hands feet, they`re not. And he wanted to prolong the torture. He didn`t just torture this victim. He`s torturing recipients who are receiving this stuff in the mail, up to and including people at a school.

LIEBERMAN: Totally agree with Lisa. This guy didn`t want to be caught. We have confirmed that he was wearing wigs while on the run, dressing up as a woman. Police were tracking his cell phone. He didn`t want to be caught. Totally agree.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: According to one source, Magnotta idolized the original loner rebel, James Dean. Watch him here, James Dean, in his best- known role from "Rebel Without a Cause."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You know what type of drunken brawls those parties turn into. It`s no place for kids.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: A minute ago you said you didn`t care if he drinks. He said a little drink.

JAMES DEAN, ACTOR: You`re tearing me apart!

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What?

DEAN: You, you say one thing and he said another, and everybody changes back again.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: "The Daily Mail" said Magnotta had plastic surgery to look like James Dean. Here`s the side by side.

Chris DeRose, Last Chance for Animals, you actually tried to lure him out of hiding by posting things about James Dean on the Internet. Tell us briefly.

DEROSE: That`s right, Jane. We -- we did a profile on him first, and we saw he was very narcissistic about himself. So one of the things we were doing to appeal to that, to try to draw him out. We weren`t trying to mislead the law enforcement. We weren`t trying to mislead the public. We were just trying to mislead him and get him out, and it was working. Our whole tactic was starting to work.

The profile on this guy, we had it down right. So we got in -- we got in communication with some of the people that was either him or there were people that know him.

This funny thing, too, though, Jane: while he was in France, we`ve gotten a bunch of hits from somebody in France. When he was in Germany, we got a bunch of hits on our sites that were set up, by him. So it was either him or somebody that knows him very well.

This information is being turned over now to law-enforcement agencies in Canada and Interpol.

So we`re immediately on this. We didn`t want to mislead. We`re not misleading anybody. I want to make that clear. All our objective was, to catch this guy, catch him and then show the correlation, because we`re an animal organization. Last Chance for Animals goes after the bad guy. We want to show this correlation like Lisa Bloom said before and show that it`s directly related.

This would be the Michael Vick case on pit bulls, this will be for animal cruelty. This is a very key point.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A global man hunt may have paid off. Police think the man suspected of mailing body parts in Canada is in custody in Germany.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The suspect is a 29-year-old model and self-styled porn actor named Luka Rocco Magnotta.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He is not known to police and has no previous criminal record. A severed foot was found at the Conservative Party headquarters and a hand was discovered at a Canada Post sorting center.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Who knows where the other body parts were intended or sent or if there were others out there?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`ve now learned that the suspect videotaped the dismemberment of his victim.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: They are aware he had postings on YouTube. There are reports that in those videos he was killing kittens.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Police say they nabbed him at an Internet cafe in Berlin, Germany thousands of miles from the scene of his alleged crimes.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: 29-year-old Luka Magnotta was arrested last night in Berlin. He`s going to be extradited back to Canada, but the big news described just moments ago in a live news conference out of Canada is that two more body parts of his purported victim have been found because they were sent to schools in Canada.

So this sicko, if indeed he is responsible for the murder of his former lover, dismembering and videotaping his assault on this man which included a sexual assault and even, I dare say, eating parts of his flesh and then dismembering the body and sending it to various political officials even as he was arrested last night there were two more body parts in the mail that were received today by schools in Canada.

Outrageous, unbelievable stuff of nightmares. Listen to this suspect describe his career to the "Toronto Sun".

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

LUKA ROCCO MAGNOTTA, MURDER SUSPECT: I`ve also been a stripper and then basically I went from there to doing adult films and I`m not to do it (inaudible). I have a problem though with people saying those derogatives.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Now, Joe Warmington, reporter, Sun News Network; you`ve actually interviewed this man. There are reports Magnotta may have been disguised as a woman when he was hiding out in Germany -- and these are mock-ups made by our graphics team of what he might have looked like in disguise.

When he was arrested he was not in costume. Do you think he wanted to get caught, Joe?

JOE WARMINGTON, REPORTER, SUN NEWS NETWORK: You know what? Whatever the intention is he would want to be. He also likes the whole thing, but I just have to tell you, Jane. I`m creeped out just listening to your show here and being part of it when you think about how close I was to him and just a couple of feet away from him and to think of all of these horrible things that this man is alleged to have done.

And so it is one freaky, freaky thing for a reporter here in Canada the more I think about it.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, let`s listen to the news conference that ended literally moments ago out of Vancouver; law enforcement describing two body parts that showed up at schools.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WARREN LEMCKE, VANCOUVER POLICE DEPUTY CHIEF: Vancouver police are investigating two disturbing incidents in which human remains were discovered in separate packages mailed to two local area schools this afternoon.

The first package containing what appeared to be a human hand was opened by staff at False Creek Elementary School after 1:00 p.m. today. Another package containing what appeared to be a human foot was found by staff at St. George`s School later this afternoon.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Unbelievable, Robyn Walensky, anchor/reporter "The Blaze". Do you think this is the tip of the iceberg from your many years covering crime?

ROBYN WALENSKY, ANCHOR/REPORTER, "THE BLAZE": Jane, I think there`s going to be more. I think he started with the animals. He didn`t get high enough and then he moved on to humans.

As I listened to that news conference live with you here, and what strikes me about it is that from a CSI perspective, this is a treasure. Those two boxes that were sent to the school, Jane, they have the wrapping. They have the tape. They have possible fingerprints. The material, possibly in plastic if he put the body parts in there.

They will take those two boxes and compare them to the one box that was sent to the Canadian Prime Minister, to Stephen Harper`s Conservative Party and then to the fourth box that was sent to the Liberal Party. They will look at all four of those boxes and compare and contrast and I bet you, Jane it`s all going to come back to one person, him.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Could Magnotta also be the Hollywood sign killer. You remember back in January, we covered the story here. Two women walking their dogs found a severed head and a hand of a man? All of these body parts scattered on the trail near the famous Hollywood sign.

Facebook postings on an account attributed to Magnotta indicate he was in L.A. less than a month after -- we have photos of him in Hollywood. The LAPD says well, they don`t think it`s connected but it`s still unsolved -- Jon Leiberman.

JON LEIBERMAN, INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER: No. And this is now worldwide investigation. Any unsolved case where there is a beheading is being looked into. And I want to point out two other things. One, this guy had 70 Facebook pages and at least eight aliases, police confirm. And they believe they have his DNA from inside of a hotel room in Paris. While he was on the run he spent the night with two different men. They believe they have his DNA.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Rachael Bell, forensic clinical therapist -- why two schools and then two political parties for these limbs?

RACHAEL BELL, FORENSIC CLINICAL THERAPIST: Well, you know, Jane, I believe that he was showing off his work. He was an exhibitionist and a sadist and he liked to show that power and control that he had over others.

And I think this is all wrapped into the sexual psychological issues that he`s struggling where he`s just very much like Dennis Raider (ph), taunting others. And I think that`s why he had so many Facebook pages. Of course, that played into his narcissism and you have a lot of different factors at play here.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes, Joe Warmington quickly.

(CROSSTALK)

BELL: And I think he was taunting.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: When you talked to this guy, when you talked to him - - did you get chills? Did you get any sense of I`m looking at this killer? This sadist?

WARMINGTON: I knew he was really strange, and he creeped me out for sure. I certainly didn`t think he was a killer. I just wish I had known about the kittens and I would have helped a lot earlier to try to stop him. I feel terrible about that.

You know I also -- like the gentleman you had on about the kittens, and I`m sure that he e-mailed me as well from Europe. I received Europe time. And, you know, the more I think about it, yes, this is really, really scary stuff.

Police say note found in at least one Vancouver body parts package
June 6, 2012 4:12 PM

MONTREAL — Police investigating the grisly killing of a Chinese student said Wednesday that mailed packages containing the victim's body parts also included notes.

The case was discovered last week when Jun Lin's left hand and left foot were mailed to Canada's top political parties. The investigation spread to the other end of the country this week as more body parts were mailed from Montreal to two schools in Vancouver. Those parcels contained a right hand and a right foot, and police said they would conduct DNA tests to confirm a match, Montreal Police Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere said.

"They were the same limbs we were looking for," Lafreniere said. The victim's head is still unaccounted for.

Lafreniere said the parcels mailed to the Conservative and Liberal parties, and at least one of the Vancouver packages contained a note. He declined to say to whom they were addressed, or what they said, for fear of encouraging copycat crimes.

Former schools not worried about Magnotta mail

TORONTO - Principals at Toronto schools once attended by alleged body part killer Luka Magnotta aren’t on high alert after body parts were delivered to Vancouver schools.

A foot and a hand were delivered from Montreal to Vancouver schools Tuesday. Montreal police believe they belonged to murdered Chinese student Jun Lin and have taken over the investigation

With the two packages received yesterday it is possible that the poor man's head is still in the mail somewhere.  I am baffled on how the last two packages made it through the postal system without someone along the way questioning an odor, flies, or liquid which had to be associated with the packages.

Fake 'foot' found on Montreal street just a bad joke
Wednesday, June 6, 2012

MONTREAL - A Halloween prop of a human foot placed on a Montreal street in a neighbourhood near where Luka Magnotta is suspected of killing and dismembering Jun Lin two weeks ago was someone's idea of a joke, say Montreal police.

A passerby discovered the phoney body part at 7:30 a.m. on Saint-Jacques Street in the west-end Notre-Dame-de-Grace neighbourhood, prompting initial fears that it was linked to the Magnotta case, or worse - that there might be a copycat at work.

Police cordoned off the area until discovering it was nothing more than a Halloween prop.

Montreal police Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere told reporters that it was likely a stunt, and not a very good one

Luka Rocco Magnotta 'fearing for his safety' in Berlin prison, lawyer reveals
June 6, 2012 4:09 PM

Luka Rocco Magnotta's German court-appointed lawyer says her client is "afraid he will be attacked by other prisoners" inside a Berlin jail because media reports make him out to be a "really, really bad person."

Magnotta has been transferred to an old Berlin prison where he is kept separate from other prisoners 23 hours a day, Evelyn Ascher told the CBC in an interview.

The lawyer also told reporters that Magnotta was "nice and polite" and didn't seem like the "psychopath" she read about.

Magnotta, 29, was transferred to a Berlin prison Tuesday after spending a night in a police station holding cell following his arrest Monday. He was arrested by seven Berlin police officers after an internet cafe employee spotted the fugitive reading stories about himself online.

Berlin police said Magnotta has slept soundly in his 1.5 metre by 5-metre solitary cell. Police initially said his only request was for someone to light his cigarette and he seemed "quiet."

CANADIAN OFFICIALS PATIENTLY WAITING BY THE MAIL FOR THE REST OF LUKA MAGNOTTA’S PACKAGES
June 6 2012

Ottawa, Canada – The case of Luka Magnotta, the Canadian man who recorded himself slaughtering his lover and then mailing his remains to the government, will surely go down as one of the more bizarre murder case in recent history, if not all of history.

True, there have been much more vicious murders and murderers in history but the sheer weirdness of the acts committed by Magnotta make his acts stand out like few others. Now with Magnotta in custody a huge and very important part of that story has been concluded but, unfortunately for police, other very important parts are still missing.

The most important part of that puzzle is apparently the head of Magnotta’s victim. While the bulk of the victim, Jun Lin, was found in a Montreal apartment other pieces were missing. Some, of course, were sent to government officials and now two more packages have shown up at schools in Vancouver. Those deliveries nearly complete the puzzle of Lin and Magnotta, but officials are still keeping a keen out for at least one more package, one containing the all-important head of Lin, hoping against hope that it hasn’t been lost somewhere in the mail.

 ::snipping2::

The RCMP, Canada’s national police force, has been keeping any eye on all head-sized packages passing through the mail system over the last few days.

New videos emerge in 'Canadian Psycho' case
New videos circulating on the Internet of a Canadian porn actor accused of killing and carving up a Chinese student appear to be credible, but a probe is ongoing, Montreal police said Wednesday.
Wed, 06 Jun 2012 19:46:52 GMT

"All we can say is that we've seen the videos and they appear to be authentic," police spokesman Ian Lafreniere told AFP.

"But we have to ensure the videos' veracity and figure out when they were filmed," Lafreniere added.

Luka Rocco Magnotta, who has been dubbed the "Canadian Psycho" after allegedly killing and dismembering male Chinese student Lin Jun last month, is believed to have filmed the crime.

That video was posted on the Internet before the suspect fled Canada.

But Magnotta, 29, is suspected of having posting new videos following his arrival in France on May 26. The suspect then headed to Germany, where he was arrested at an Internet cafe in Berlin on Monday.

In one posted on YouTube, a seemingly cavalier Magnotta is smoking and says: "What's up and hi to all my fans" while Madonna's song "La Isla Bonita" plays in the background.

In another posting, the suspect appears to be filming himself while music from the band New Order plays. And a third video shows him in a dark apartment peeking out the window.

Slain student's family in Montreal
Updated: 2012-06-07 03:20

Relatives of Lin Jun, the Chinese student who was brutally murdered by the suspect dubbed the "Canadian Psycho", arrived in Montreal on Wednesday morning, according to Xu Zheng, a spokesman at the Chinese consulate in Montreal.

Xu told reporters that four of Lin Jun's family members, including his parents, sister, and uncle, have arrived in the city to deal with the aftermath of Lin's gruesome death.

According to the Canadian Press, Lin's family was scheduled to meet with Montreal police on Wednesday to discuss the investigation.

The consulate has sent two officials to assist Lin's family, according to previous report. And the consulate said it will coordinate with Canadian government, schools, and mobilize local students and civil organizations to offer any form of help.

According to sources close to the family, Lin's parents are divorced.

Magnotta had 70 Facebook pages: cops
 June 6, 2012

MONTREAL - Man of many disguises, man of many Facebook pages.

Luka Magnotta had a massive presence on the world's most popular social-networking site, said Montreal police Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere.

"The suspect is present on more than 70 Facebook pages," he told reporters Wednesday.

"He maintained more than 70 Facebook pages under different names. So he was very, very, very active on the web."

Youtube clips, personal web pages, gore websites and blogs are just some of the digital media the former stripper and porn actor used to boost his cyberspace profile.

As Luka Rocco Magnotta’s alleged victim blogged about his cat, promos appeared for ’1 Lunatic, 1 Ice Pick’

Jun 7, 2012 – 7:05 PM ET

Ten days prior to his horrific murder, Jun Lin was posting on his blog about his cat Andy, the iPhone, fashion and other innocuous topics. At the same time, another person was posting promotional materials for the video that would allegedly show Lin’s death, including an image of the ice pick that may have killed him.

Lin, 33, wrote some 1,000 posts on the Chinese blogging site Weibo, initially talking about how much he was looking forward to living in Canada, although some of his posts sound lonely at times.

There is no mention of Luka Rocco Magnotta, the man police suspect in Lin’s slaying and dismemberment — which was posted online — in the blog posts.

Meanwhile, Lin’s parents say they have come to Montreal “to take him home” as police await the grim results from DNA testing on the body parts sent from Montreal to two Vancouver schools.

 ::snipping2::

Ten days prior to Lin’s murder, someone began posting about a video called “1 lunatic, 1 ice pick.” That is the name of the video that police say shows Lin being stabbed to death, his limbs cut off and his decapitated body sexually assaulted.

One YouTube video — posted under the name alexisvaloranreich (the name of the transgendered woman who as John Mark Karr claimed to have killed JonBenét Ramsey) — shows the picture of a young man holding an ice pick, his face obscured by a purple hoodie, standing in front of a poster of the film Casablanca.

Luka Rocco Magnotta's possible link to L.A. homicide probed by police
June 7, 2012 4:52 PM

MONTREAL — The widespread travels of Luka Rocco Magnotta, both geographically and on the World Wide Web, are fuelling speculation he may have killed elsewhere.

Montreal police are working with the Los Angeles Police Department to determine whether Magnotta could have been involved in the murder and beheading of a 66-year-old man in California in January. The head of Hervey Medellin was discovered near the famous Hollywood sign by a woman walking her dog on Jan. 17. A police search turned up Medellin's hands and feet in the area, but the rest of his body remains missing.

Montreal police said Magnotta, a porn movie actor and male escort, may have been in Los Angeles at the time of Medellin's murder. Sun U.K. news reported a Los Angeles pimp claims to have hired Magnotta around that time, and that one of Magnotta's Facebook pages offered his services as a masseuse in Los Angeles weeks after the murder.

Plus, he`s called the Monster of Montreal. Tonight this just-captured suspected killer speaks to his so-called fans. He posted the online clips while on the run just before his capture. Did cops ignore repeated pleas to arrest Luka Magnotta years ago?

This as cops say school employees are still reeling from the shock of opening packages sent by Magnotta containing a human foot and a human hand. We`ll investigate.
 ::snipping2::

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A bizarre case gets even more bizarre in Canada. Vancouver police are investigating two disturbing incidents.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Luka Rocco Magnotta, the porn actor accused of killing and dismembering a man in Canada.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The first package containing what appeared to be a human hand.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This is a really traumatic and difficult situation for absolutely everybody.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Human remains were discovered in separate packages mailed to two local area schools this afternoon.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: The victim`s head is still missing tonight.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`re still missing the head. The head is still missing.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: The porn star fugitive has now been captured.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Having indecently abused the corpse of the man he killed, his former boyfriend.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`ve now learned that the suspect videotaped the dismemberment of his victim.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s a real human being, getting decapitated in front of the video, in front of the camera.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I believe that he was showing off his work.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The torso found stuffed in a suitcase behind an apartment in Montreal.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`re talking about the same body parts that we were looking for which is the right hand and the right foot.

Another package containing what appeared to be a human foot.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I knew he was really strange and he creeped me out for sure.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Tonight, new developments in the severed body parts sent to children`s schools; police believe they`re connected to a dismembered murder victim in Montreal but the victim`s head still missing.

Now, new secrets and clues emerge that might tell us where the suspect sent that skull. This is the school in Vancouver where a human foot was delivered in the mail. That same day a hand arrives at another school.

Police say it`s likely these limbs are from the same victim of suspected killer Luka Magnotta, a porn star who dismembered a former lover and then ate parts of his flesh and even had sex with the corpse.

Last week a left foot was sent to Canada`s Prime Minister at the headquarters of the Conservative Party. Shortly afterwards, another package found, this one with a left hand to the Liberal Party headquarters. Then a human torso found in a suitcase outside Magnotta`s apartment. He had already fled the country by that point.

Then yesterday a right hand and right foot delivered to those schools in Vancouver, Canada; but the most crucial body part, the victim`s head still missing. Where will it show up? Is it his ultimate trophy?

Magnotta arrested Monday, Berlin, an Internet cafe, he was caught reading his own news reports, reports about himself. Over the weekend new video released of the suspect -- watch this from YouTube, Magnotta talks to the quote, unquote "fans" of his while a Madonna song blares in the background.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

LUKA ROCCO MAGNOTTA, MURDER SUSPECT: What`s up? And hi to all my fans.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, he looks demonic to me. This isn`t the first time he`s taped himself. He`s been sought for years for allegedly killing kittens on camera and posted the videos online.

"The Sun" the newspaper, reports they got one of those horrific videos in an e-mail where somebody claiming to be Magnotta wrote this warning, quote, "Once you kill and taste blood it`s impossible to stop," end quote. The e-mail continued, "I`ll be back and this time the victims won`t be animals.

Was he foreshadowing killings to come? Call me at 1877-JVM-SAYS.
Straight out to Joe Warmington, reporter for Sun News Network; Joe, what do you know about these ominous foreshadowing e-mails? The Sun says they showed the e-mails to cops months ago and were ignored.

JOE WARMINGTON, REPORTER, SUN NEWS NETWORK: I know, that`s the scary thing about it is that nobody took this guy seriously. And he was definitely crying out, Jane, for people to pay attention to what he was thinking in his escalations. And you can see in that video that smug and satisfied look on his face.

You know, I don`t know when that was filmed, but I suspect that it was when he was on the run. As for this business of the feet and all that, the West Coast they have nine other feet that have been found out there, so who knows what this is all about.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Oh, yes. They`re looking at all of the unsolved cases tonight. Now, when I look at his face I see what I -- I just feel -- I get the creeps and it`s like looking at evil.

Animal rights activists had been hunting Magnotta for years because of the countless kitten mutilation videos he allegedly posted online. Just six months ago, PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals offered a reward and delivered a chilling omen. It read, "PETA is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the demented or vicious coward responsible for these heinous acts. The pain and fear that these cats must have experienced is unimaginable. Anyone capable of such sadism poses a danger to us all," end quote.

Ingrid Newkirk is with us tonight. I`m very honored to have her. She`s the president of PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Ingrid, you tried to warn people. You tried to warn police? Would it be fair to say that you predicted this, in essence?

INGRID NEWKIRK, PRESIDENT, PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS: Well, it`s not too hard to predict, Jane. Every serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer, Son of Sam, all the school shooters have a history of vicious cruelty to animals. And it`s their past (ph). If they`re not stopped, if this behavior isn`t corrected -- and I think law enforcement is gradually, but too slowly getting this lesson -- then it`s going to escalate.

It`s bad enough for the animals, but people want to be more empowered and take out this violence on human beings in the end.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, I call this reactive justice. There were many, many warning signs. Jon Leiberman, hundreds and hundreds of videos of this sicko bragging. He was sending e-mails to people bragging about killing cats and the cops refused to take it seriously.

JON LEIBERMAN, INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER: You know, we even found a blog that this guy -- police believe he posted -- called necrophiliac serial killer Luka Magnotta, in which he confesses to liking sex with corpses. He says, "I don`t see myself as some creepy pervert. I`m just someone who has feelings, real feelings for dead men." That was posted on his blog.

This is a major part of the investigation because cops are looking back at all of these videos online. Right now, they also want to know did he have any help, after the killing, did he have any help to get to the airport, to get out of country there in Canada. So this is a worldwide investigation now and police are looking to see if he had any help.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes. Well, I have to say, one of the scariest questions for me is did he have other victims? You heard what Ingrid said about serial killers always start with animals? This guy -- police are wondering, is he a serial killer? Listen to this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This is far from being over. The investigation has brought us to the suspect. Now we will get of other questions beside that. Is there other possible homicide or other crime linked to that person? That will be investigated by our investigators, that`s for sure.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: We looked it up, there`s five unsolved missing cases of Montreal in the past year. These are the faces of those five missing individuals. Of the five, there are four men and one woman -- 19 to 55.

Wendy Murphy, former prosecutor, do you think we`re at the tip of the iceberg?

WENDY MURPHY, FORMER PROSECUTOR: Oh, yes. Well, who knows for sure, but a guy like this doesn`t go from kittens to not only dismembering a body, but mailing it out. There`s got to be stuff in the middle and you know, unfortunately the victims aren`t around to tell us the story. But I do hope that people start to connect the dots in this.

You know, clearly what worries me here is that this guy was not under the influence of drugs but under the influence of Jeffrey Dahmer. And what I`m worried about is that he`s going to be able to take advantage of this apparent space of similar kinds of behavior and say at his trial, poor me, I was under the influence of bath salts or God forbid, I was abused as a child which may have something to do with why he was sending body parts to schools where little kids were.

I don`t really care about this guy`s history. I don`t care that he was crying for attention or may have been abused as a child. We do have to, I think, get to a point in our legal system where we don`t get give discounts to guys like this.
 ::snipping2::
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: Yes. I really do enjoy my work. I get to meet new people all the time. And you know, I`m a people person, and you know, it`s worked out great for me, you know.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: That man, that was from "Naked News". He`s now accused of one of the most horrific crimes, the dismemberment killing and flesh eating and necrophilia with this victim of his.

Let`s take another look at Magnotta`s newest YouTube video. It appears to have been posted over this past weekend when this sicko was still on the run before he was caught in Germany. We still don`t know exactly when it was shot but he looks totally different than in his mug shot as he listens to the 1987 Madonna hit "La Isla Bonita".

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: What`s up and hi to all my fans?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: This sicko smoking a cigarette and talking about his fans.

Joe Warmington, clearly, he is addicted to infamy. You say that you believe you got e-mails from him while he was on the run and also your thoughts about the notes that were with the severed limbs that he sent to the schools in Canada. Do you have any idea what those notes might contain?

WARMINGTON: Well, I`m wondering about the nine feet that were found out there. It`s been a real mystery, Jane, in Canada for a while. Just these feet wash up on shore, and I`m wondering if it`s connected to that and you can be sure he`s looking at it.

As for the video, you and I talked all week about this. I mean this guy -- the narcissism and just the look of smugness on his face. Whether he filmed it before or not, I think it was designed for us to see now that he`s enjoying every minute of this thing.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes.

WARMINGTON: And that it`s really, really sick and it`s ticking me off because, you know, I interviewed him in the early days. I just wish I didn`t give him any attention at all.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes, well, don`t blame yourself. Very quickly, Jon Leiberman, this is what -- you saw the actual video of the killing and the dismemberment and the necrophilia and the flesh eating. Describe it in 10 seconds and also the lights. I can`t believe this.

LEIBERMAN: I`ve seen a lot, I`ve never seen anything like this. I mean this guy had a knife and fork in his hand looking over this beheaded corpse. It was absolutely disgusting and it was posted on Facebook; 600 likes for the murder video.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And I have to go to Ingrid Newkirk, president of PETA because you and I are both never -- well, I am always shocked and horrified at what humanity is capable of in terms of cruelty. Do you feel that there`s a lesson here to be learned in terms of how police should handle animal cruelty?

NEWKIRK: It`s just not only police, but it`s every one of us. It`s not so much about this man. This man is the lesson, but whenever you see a narcissistic personality, the inability to empathize, to put yourself in the place of another and this bullying, this wish to control, to dominate the most vulnerable in society -- animals, the elderly, children. It`s a sign.

We need to say something and do something and not go away until somebody takes notice. This is not everything like boys will be boys. I look at people who hunt for pleasure and I wonder what goes on in their mind. If you can`t empathize, somebody needs to be looking out for you and for the community at the same time.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We said from the beginning, the web had been used by him to glorify himself and we believe that it`s the web that had brought him down.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Magnotta`s ex-girlfriend told reporters he was obsessed with serial killers and would do anything to be famous. Former prosecutor, Wendy Murphy, do you think this is sort of the end result, the extreme conclusion to our culture of narcissism and fame at any price?

MURPHY: Well, you know, I`m sitting here hoping they have some Pepto- Bismol at the studio, I`m so disgusted. I hope, Jane. I mean how much worse could it get? Eating people, sending limbs, having sex with dead people -- what`s worse? I don`t even know if there`s an answer I want to hear.

You know, I do think that we have one problem to solve at least with this kind of case which is to stop thinking about this kind of behavior as an illness that can be fixed. You and I don`t always agree about this addiction and violence. I think if you don`t have a conscience, if you have the capacity to kill animals, if you`re joking about having sex with dead bodies, you need to be locked up. I don`t care if it`s a jail cell or a hospital bed, and never be allowed to walk free in society ever.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Jamison Monroe, do you think that as an addiction specialist -- ten seconds -- people just get a pass sometimes.

JAMISON MONROE, ADDICTION SPECIALIST: I do think that -- I believe in rehabilitation over incarceration. I think that parents need to be more educated bath salts, prescription pills and the media. They need to educate themselves and they just need to spend more time with their kids.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, I think this man is very, very, very, very, very, very, very evil. And I agree with Wendy Murphy. I do believe in redemption, but at certain times people cross the line and their incomprehensible degeneracy is of such a depth that they really just don`t belong to the human race anymore. And they are evil. Evil does exist.

Judge for yourself.
 ::snipping2::
LUKA MAGNOTTA, SUSPECTED KILLER: Hi, my name is Luka. Magnotta is my last name.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Killing and dismembering a man in Canada.

MAGNOTTA: Practice makes perfect, right?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The first package containing what appeared to be a human hand.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This is a really traumatic or difficult situation for absolutely everybody.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s a real human being getting decapitated in front of a video, in front of a camera.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I believe that he was showing off his work.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A torso found stuffed in a suitcase behind an apartment in Montreal.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`ve recovered the same body parts that we were looking for, which is the right hand and the right foot.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Another package containing what appeared to be a human foot.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I know he was really strange, and he freaked me out for sure.

MAGNOTTA: A lot of people tell me I`m really devastatingly good looking, so...

(END VIDEOTAPE)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Unbelievable.

Good evening. Jane Velez-Mitchell. Breaking news: we have just obtained an extraordinary video. It is really a stunning look into the mind and the motives of the so-called Butcher of Montreal.

We`ve obtained bizarre new video of porn star Luka Magnotta -- you see him right there -- the man accused of decapitating his former lover and videotaping the gruesome murder.

Now, cops say, and this is very disturbing. This is what they say happened. He stabbed the man with a pick. He dismembered him. He had sex with the corpse. He ate the flesh of his human victim. And then he mailed the severed body parts to government officials and children`s schools.

Even hardened cops are shocked, and they`re asking how does somebody get that demented? You`re looking at the individual accused of all that. How does that happen?

Well, this new video shows Magnotta well before the horrific crime, auditioning for "Cover Guy," a Canadian reality TV show some compare to "Top Model," where the winner gets a contract as an underwear model. Study this accused killer as he vies for the part.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MAGNOTTA: Practice makes perfect, right?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: ... hair color?

MAGNOTTA: No. Actually, I just got it highlighted and changed things up a bit.

I have no problem gaining weight. I can gain weight if I need to gain weight.

I can gain muscle. Everybody can do it. You know, I can gain muscle. I can work out. I`m very determined. In every goal that I put my mind to, I surpass.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Very determined. Any goal he puts his mind to it, he does, but he didn`t get the part.

This video is adding to the theory that Magnotta is a self-obsessed and fame-crazed individual who would do anything -- anything -- to be famous.

He`s not only accused of posting the video of this brutal murder online. Cops believe he also posted video of himself on YouTube while he was on the run from an international man hunt. Here he is talking to his, quote unquote, "fans" while Madonna blares in the background.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: What`s up? And hi to all my fans.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And there may be more videos out there.

Magnotta has created an international uproar. He was captured on Monday in Berlin at an Internet -- Internet cafe, where he was reading news stories about himself.

Cops say he committed this crime in Montreal, but he`s known to have spent time in New York, Hollywood. How does this chilling audition tape give us new insight into the mind of an alleged madman and the dark side of human nature.

Straight out to my primetime exclusive guest, the director of "Cover Guy," who auditioned Magnotta and spent time with him up close and personal, Larry Peloso.

Larry, thank you for joining us tonight. When you heard this man was a suspect in one of the most horrific crimes in recent century, a murder that -- and I hate to say it, but these are the facts of the case -- involved necrophilia and cannibalism, what was your reaction?

LARRY PELOSO, DIRECTOR, "COVER GUY": I was a little overwhelmed at first. I really didn`t believe it. I got a call to confirm that he was semifinalist on "Cover Guy."

And I remembered that he looked somewhat familiar when I first saw the reports, but I thought, no way. He was not one of our semifinalists. And that evening, I went to my records. I pulled out all the questionnaires from the 2007 auditions. And he was not one of the questionnaires we kept, so that meant he wasn`t a semifinalist.

Then I went through all the model release forms, and when I turned the page and saw his signature on the page, I had this chill that just ran right up my spine when I realized who it was, and that he had auditioned for us.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: A chill up your spine. And sir, if I can ask you, look right into the camera there as you speak to us, because we are so fascinated into -- in what you have to say.

Now, we`re going to play a little bit more of this extraordinary audition as we see the narcissist in Luka Magnotta come out. Watch it.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: A lot of people tell me I`m really devastatingly good looking, so -- everyone has their own personal opinion, but you know, I think I have what it takes, you know, to do it. I definitely do.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: OK. You`re looking at the same man that cops believe mailed body parts to various government officials and to children`s schools in order to gain infamy. Human body parts.

Larry, from the time you spent with Luka Magnotta, did you get the impression that he was so desperate for fame that he would go to any lengths to get his name out there?

PELOSO: No, I did not. I have to say I`m -- I`m extremely shocked that this same person who came in to audition for us five years ago could be the same person who would be involved in a -- in a murder.

He came across as an ordinary guy. Most of the guys that came out for the show were like body builders, tanned. He was like an ordinary guy. He was pale and thin. So it did surprise me that he would consider himself suitable for "Cover Guy."

Obviously, he was trading on his looks. He told us that he`d been compared to Ryan Phillippe. He told us that he could bulk up. He obviously was looking for his opportunity in the limelight. We were looking for guys that had the look, had the body, had what it takes.

Yes, he had an -- you know, an attractive look, but he certainly didn`t have the body, didn`t have what it -- would be necessary to be -- to be a model, an underwear model. And that`s what our judges decided and why they did not send him forward into the semifinals.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, we are learning now that the victim`s family, Lin Jun`s family has arrived from China in Canada to recover the body, even though this victim`s head has not been recovered. This is believed to be by police a former lover of Magnotta`s who, again, was decapitated, dismembered, and horrific crimes perpetrated on this individual.

Now, this is what shocks me, but maybe I shouldn`t be shocked, Pat Brown, criminal profiler.

Magnotta`s lawyer says that Magnotta is in fear for his life in a Berlin jail, because the media is making him out to be a, quote, "really, really bad person."

Pat, if half the things, if a quarter of the things that have been said about this man are true -- torturing kittens, committing this horrific murder, allegedly -- you`re dealing with a sociopath, a psychopath. But what that tells me is that his vision of himself is so out of touch with reality he`s living in a parallel universe of his own that exists in his mind.

PAT BROWN, CRIMINAL PROFILER: Along with his lawyer. I mean, if you can`t call this man a really, really bad man, who can you call a bad man?

But he is. You know, what you`re saying. He`s very narcissistic. He`s got very grandiose thinking, but he`s not that different from other serial killer types.
I mean, what I saw in that video was horrifying, but that`s what serial killers do. What was different about him is that he`s an attention whore first, before he was a serial killer, which is what he would have been if he`d kept going. Or maybe he has killed others. We don`t know about it.

He`s such an attention whore. He just wants everybody to see him, see him, see him. And he`s always been in front of the camera, so he just married the two things together.

So he`s just a psychopath to the nth degree who`s found a medium to work with, which is the Internet.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, when I`m looking at him, what strikes me, Joe Warmington -- and you`re a reporter with Sun News Network out of Toronto who also interviewed this man -- is how deceptive his appearance is. He seems so -- almost petite, very boyish, very unthreatening physically. Did that throw you off, too, Joe?

JOE WARMINGTON, REPORTER, SUN NEWS NETWORK: Yes, it did, and you know, he had this almost a chameleon-type thing, because he was trying to look like Paul Bernardo here with the Ken and Barbie thing.

And then, you know, obviously, he was known and was convicted of trying to look like a woman and had the credit cards and the profilers like Pat that said that, you know, he would travel as a woman. So he could be anything at any time.

Interesting how he dealt with that in Larry`s video, when he said, "I can put on weight if you need to. I can do what I have to," and he can surpass his goals. I think that was really, really telling.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: Practice makes perfect, right?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: ... hair color?

MAGNOTTA: No. Actually, I just got it highlighted and changed things up a bit.

I have no problem gaining weight. I can gain weight if I need to gain weight.

I can gain muscle. Everybody can do it. You know, I can gain muscle. I can work out. I`m very determined. In every goal that I put my mind to, I surpass.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Every goal he`s ever had he`s surpassed. This is video we have just obtained showing the alleged Butcher of Montreal, accused of the most horrific crime imaginable, five years before that man was killed. Do we see anything that foreshadowed what was allegedly to come? Could this murder and dismemberment have been a drastic attempt for Magnotta to get his own TV show? He failed at this audition.

You remember this other story. It didn`t involve murder, but the entire world watched when they thought a little boy was trapped inside this balloon, only to find out that it was a ploy by his dad, who wanted to get his own reality show.

Back to Larry Peloso, primetime exclusive, director of "Cover Guy." You auditioned this now alleged killer of the worst order. Did you get a sense that he would do anything to get this? In other words, did he seem desperate to you?

PELOSO: He certainly gave me the impression that yes, he could do what it takes, and he wanted to be the next "Cover Guy." The judges asked him, well, to be an underwear model, you`ve got to have the right body, and you don`t have it.

And he said, "Well, I can bulk up," as you just watched there. Again, he was determined.

But what was lurking behind those eyes, I don`t know. To be five years later, an international murderer is beyond anything I could ever imagine from seeing that guy before us five years ago.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And perhaps the lesson is that it`s not like in the movies, that if somebody is a horrific killer -- and he is just accused; he hasn`t gone to trial yet -- there`s no way to tell.

But there was foreshadowing. We still don`t know if there are other victims out there, but this guy has a lot in common with Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, and Andrew Cunanan, say cops.

You know, Dahmer was a cannibal. Ted Bundy was a necrophiliac. And all three serial killers had a long history of killing animals, as did Magnotta.

Magnotta allegedly tortured kittens and put many of these videos on the Internet. He reportedly e-mailed one of those videos to "The Sun" and the BBC and allegedly warned, "Once you kill and taste blood, it`s impossible to stop," and then predicted, "I will be back. And this time the victims won`t be animals."

Chris DeRose, president of Last Chance for Animals, an organization that has hunted this guy for years, cops refused to move in, despite your pleas, and take the animal cruelty cases seriously. Do you think that this is a mistake that cost a man his life?

CHRIS DEROSE, LAST CHANCE FOR ANIMALS: Very good chance, Jane. If this guy -- if people had taken us seriously, and this was brought to me by the Barbi twins to look at videotape of the footage of the kittens that were being suffocated to death. If this was taken seriously, and I told them yes, it`s real. And they went back to law enforcement and told them, "This is real. Do something about it."

This is typical attitude. I`d always hear, "Boys will be boys. Oh, it`s just a cat. It`s just a dog." Well, it`s no longer that. This case is really bringing it to the forefront that there is a relationship between the torture and killing of animals and the torturing and killing of human beings. And I think that people really need to get a hold of this.

Another thing I`d like to say, Jane. In most states in this country, it`s a misdemeanor, it`s barely a slap on the wrist, to torture and kill an animal. And if you move from one state to the other, that record doesn`t follow you.

So it needs to become a felony in every state in this country so that you move from California to Omaha, Nebraska, it`s going to follow you. It doesn`t -- it doesn`t just stay there. We need to have some type of tracking system to see where these kind of people are going.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: I have a very deep voice. A lot of people tell me that, actually.

How do I get my voice so deep? Practice makes perfect. Right?

(END VIDEO CLIP)
VELEZ-MITCHELL: That is video we`ve obtained of the alleged Butcher of Montreal, five years because -- before he was accused of a horrific crime.

Now, some are saying that the Web site owner that hosted the alleged Luka Magnotta murder video, entitled "One Lunatic, One Ice Pick," should be charged with a crime for posting that video. This is a cautionary tale about the dark side of social media.

Magnotta manipulated the Internet in his way, perversely questing for fame. He created more than 70 Facebook pages. He created different identities. He viciously, allegedly tortured cats to death, uploaded it on the Internet.

And Jayne Weintraub, criminal defense attorney, should the Web site that posted the -- you might call it even a snuff video, where he allegedly decapitates and does all sorts of horrible things to this victim, in a video that one of my producers watched and he ran away after ten seconds because he was nauseous, should that Web site owner be charged with a crime?

JAYNE WEINTRAUB, CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Well, I don`t know if he should be charged with a crime, because I don`t know if there`s a statute on the books that would prohibit that kind of posting.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, do you think there should be a statute on the books?

WEINTRAUB: Absolutely. Absolutely I do, because I wouldn`t want one of my kids looking at that by accident, even. That`s -- you know, there`s just no redeeming social value for anything like that to be posted.

And you know, Jane, when we talk about these people that are insane, I mean, there`s no template for somebody who is insane, because the whole feed is on the horror and on the surprise factor. That`s why you can`t predict these people`s behavior. It`s really beyond.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, that`s the thing. Larry Peloso, back to you, our primetime exclusive. You spent time with this guy. You were the director. There was no hit, as far as I can tell from you, right?

PELOSO: Yes. And he wanted his attention and guess what? He`s getting it now, more than he ever dreamed of. But not for the right reasons, unfortunately. And just 10 minutes ago, I saw there`s an audition parody, a parody of his audition already up on YouTube. It`s just crazy.

JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL
Pop Culture Connection with Butcher of Montreal?
Aired June 8, 2012 - 19:00   ET
THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, HOST: Here`s what we`re talking about tonight. It`s a story that`s got everyone completely engrossed, and now there`s a fascinating Hollywood connection.

This is Luka Magnotta, who is desperate to become famous. Now he`s infamous, accused of unspeakable crimes, including murder. Tonight, new clues show he may have been influenced by some of our favorite Hollywood movies of all time. We`ll be delving into the pop culture connection next.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

VELEZ-MITCHELL (voice-over): Tonight, dark secrets just keep on spilling. Could the alleged decapitation killer, Luka Magnotta, be connected to the unsolved case of body parts found scattered near the Hollywood sign? Canadian cops say they`ve been contacted by the LAPD. Are there more victims out there?

Plus more toxic secrets about this alleged Butcher of Montreal surface. His ex-girlfriend speaks out. Can she provide a possible motive, and was he suffering big money problems?
 ::snipping2::
And he was totally buff but then packed on 70 pounds. Then he got totally buff again. How did he do that? And what was the point he was trying to prove. He`ll talk to us tonight.

LUKA MAGNOTTA, ALLEGED KILLER: Hi. My name is Luka. Magnotta is my last name.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Killing and dismembering a man in Canada.

MAGNOTTA: Practice makes perfect, right?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The first package containing appeared to be a human hand.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This is a really traumatic or difficult situation for absolutely everybody.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Human remains were discovered in separate packages mailed to two local area schools this afternoon.

VELEZ-MITCHELL (voice-over): The victim`s head is still missing.

NINA ARSENAULT, EX-GIRLFRIEND OF MAGNOTTA: Well, he said he would do anything to be famous. I didn`t think that he meant killing someone.

LARRY PELOSO, DIRECTOR, "COVER GUY": I had this chill that just ran right up my spine when I realized he`d auditioned for us.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s a real human being getting decapitated in front of the video, in front of the camera.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I believe that he was showing off his work.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Adding to the theory that Magnotta is a self-obsessed and fame-crazed individual.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I knew he was really strange, and he creeped me out for sure.

MAGNOTTA: A lot of people tell me I`m really devastatingly good looking, so...

(END VIDEOTAPE)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Good evening. Jane-Velez-Mitchell.

Stunning new information tonight in the case of the so-called Butcher of Montreal. Did Hollywood inspire Luka Magnotta`s sadism? And could an unsolved murder in Hollywood be connected?

Porn star pretty boy Luka Magnotta now in custody. Cops say he set up a video camera and deliberately videotaped himself murdering his ex-lover and then posting it online. Magnotta allegedly murdered this man, 33-year- old Jun Lin.

Now, Magnotta`s ex- says the unmentionable acts of a sexual nature caught on tape during the murder were all a desperate ploy for attention.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ARSENAULT: I think he took a lot of drugs and disassociated himself from the experience so he could decapitate someone so he could mutilate their body and then so he could actually simulate having sex with him, but I don`t actually think that it`s -- I don`t think it`s a real sex act. I think he`s a copycat psychopath.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: A copycat psychopath. That`s how the ex- phrased it.

Certainly, Magnotta had stars in his eyes. He would seemingly do anything for attention, including by his own admission, prostitution and porn. He seems to believe he had fans. Watch this from YouTube.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: What`s up? And hi to all my fans.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Madonna`s song playing in the background there, "La Isla Bonita."

Another possibility, Magnotta motivated to murder by movies about serial killers? New clues connect his alleged snuff film with details from some very famous movies: "Basic Instinct" and "American Psycho." Those details in a moment.

And could this suspect be connected to an unsolved Hollywood murder?

Straight out to Joe Warmington, reporter for the Sun News Network out of Toronto.

You spent time with Luka Magnotta. You interviewed him long before this crime spree. What do you make of the comments -- these new comments now from his ex-, who says, "Well, he was acting"? When you act, you don`t actually kill. Cops say this guy killed.

JOE WARMINGTON, REPORTER, SUN NEWS NETWORK: Well, I mean, it`s a ridiculous statement in the fact that the head is still missing, and the limbs are all over the place. And people are all across this country and now the United States and also, obviously, in Europe are following the story.

But nothing would surprise me with this.

What I want to know is who is working with him, and who`s shielded him and who`s paid some of the bills and these kinds of things. And I know where I`d start, right off the bat.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes. So that`s interesting, because the sense that I`ve gotten the whole time was that he was acting alone. But now we`re hearing he had tremendous money problems.

Jon Lieberman, HLN contributor, investigator, if you have tremendous money problems, to the point where he almost went into bankruptcy or did because he couldn`t pay tolls and things like that, how do you get from New York to Hollywood and then off to Europe, to France, to Berlin? That costs a lot of money.

JON LIEBERMAN, HLN CONTRIBUTOR: Well, and that`s why police believe he was prostituting. He was selling himself for sex. He was getting cash for escort -- escorting services and things like that, because you hit the nail on the head.

But the horrifying thing here is now we believe that he has spent time in New York City. He spent time in Miami. He spent time in L.A., London, Berlin. This is a worldwide investigation.

Now, and to your point, police believe he may have multiple accomplices. One thing they`re looking at is surveillance video from that post office up in Canada where he allegedly mailed these body parts from. They want to see on the surveillance video who actually sent these packages. Was it Luka or was it somebody else?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Oh, my gosh. The idea that somebody else may have assisted him in allegedly sending these parts, that is extraordinarily disturbing, extraordinarily disturbing.

And there are so many unanswered questions. Luka Magnotta looks handsome and fit in this audition tape, but apparently, he wasn`t always that way. Take a look at this. And listen.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: I used to be really overweight, and I lost the weight.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: How did you do that?

MAGNOTTA: I just got up every morning at, like, 4 a.m. and like ran constantly. And people would tell me stop running, stop running, and I just kept doing it, basically.

(END VIDEO CLIP)
VELEZ-MITCHELL: He`s obviously good at running. Remember, he ran to Europe where he was apprehended in an Internet cafe. Magnotta accused of sending his victims` body parts to a schools in Vancouver and to politicians in Ottawa. But the victim`s head is still missing.

Mike Brooks, HLN law-enforcement analyst, could this be the big finale, that this head is going to show up in the mail, especially if Jon Lieberman suggested, if he has accomplices who might still be out there helping him?

MIKE BROOKS, HLN LAW ENFORCEMENT ANALYST: There`s a very good possibility. And did he have any kind of storage facility that he could have kept this body and more bodies in, possibly?

And the connection to Los Angeles, I think that is going to be -- definitely be looked at as well as the other cities where he`s been. His computer, what -- who is he communicating with? Who is he talking to? These are all big, big pieces of evidence that they could glean, possibly, from the phones that the Canadian authorities and the United States authorities. And if I`ve got any open cases anywhere similar to this, Jane, I`m going to be taking a look at this guy.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: A terrifying connection has surfaced between the murder video Luka allegedly posted online and the Christian Bale movie "American Psycho." Watch this from the film`s trailer on YouTube.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CHRISTIAN BALE, ACTOR: Sabrina, why don`t you dance a little? Kristin, get down on your knees. We`re not through yet.

REESE WITHERSPOON, ACTRESS: You`re inhuman.

BALE: I know my behavior can be erratic sometimes.

Hey, Paul. (SCREAMING)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Oh, God, I despise violent movies like that. I refuse to go see them.

Now, in that movie, Christian Bale plays a secret killer who also videotapes his victims. But here`s the eerie part. The music in Luka Magnotta`s video where he`s killing somebody, allegedly, is the very same song used at the beginning of "American Psycho," the song "True Faith" by New Order.

So I want to ask Jeff Brown. You`re a former prosecutor. You`ve covered many, many sick crimes. Could this be a clue that he was influenced by this graphic movie?

JEFF BROWN, FORMER PROSECUTOR: Yes, you know, oftentimes you`ll find the clients in cases like this will try to copycat what they`ve either read, what they`ve seen, other movies like that. So clearly, I mean, that is something that the prosecutor are going to be looking at, the investigators are going to be looking at.

And hopefully -- hopefully, for their sake, they`re going to be able to interview him, because nothing is more powerful than a confession. And they still have to prove that`s him on that video and that that body was actually alive at the time he began these gruesome acts.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CALLER: This is Valerie in California, and what I really would like to know is where are their families? What are their families thinking about them? I would love to know that.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ARSENAULT: Yes, well, he said he would do anything to be famous. I didn`t think that he meant killing someone. I thought he meant doing -- being a porn star.

I don`t believe the sex acts. I don`t find them convincing. I think, even though someone was killed, I think he was performing the sociopath. I think he`s performing the role of a psychopath, because he wanted to be legendary.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: With all due respect, that ex-girlfriend of the suspect, Luka Magnotta, I think that person is a little deluded, because when you`re acting, you don`t actually kill.

Police say that Luka Magnotta set up a video camera and videotaped an actual murder. So that person, I think, is very, very confused, maybe some kind of psychological enabler, rationalizer, co-dependent, I don`t know.

She`s invited on our show any time. I`d love to talk to her.

Another movie that may have influenced Luka Magnotta was the 1992 hit "Basic Instinct." Watch it from YouTube, and you`ll know exactly what I`m talking about.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`ve got 31 stab wounds.

MICHAEL DOUGLAS, ACTOR: What was it?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Ice pick.

(WHISTLES)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes, Sharon Stone in that movie kills with an ice pick. And, of course, Magnotta`s alleged snuff film is entitled "1 Lunatic, 1 Ice Pick." And the movie begins with a victim who is tied up in bed, just like the victim, Jun Le [SIC], in real life was tied up in bed, allegedly, his face, according to cops, covered with a mask before he was viciously attacked and murdered.

Now, I have to go back to Joe Warmington, the reporter for the Sun News Network. You have spent time with Luka Magnotta. Do you think indeed that Hollywood essentially taught him to kill? That he took a page from Hollywood and figured, in his sick mind, "Well, if it`s OK for it to be happening on film, I can do it, too"?

WARMINGTON: Well, Jane, I do think that whatever`s happened here is - - definitely has Hollywood`s stamp all over it. Everything, all of which you`ve mentioned here.

Even when he was in Berlin, when he got on the bus, he used a name out of "Basic Instinct" to get a bus ticket.

The game called -- the video game called "Ripper," starring Christopher Walken, a video game, Walken`s character`s name was Magnotta. You know, the songs were all from 1987.

So the theme is there. The picture of him with the Hollywood sign in behind from 2007, you know, it`s just too much there to not have a thorough, as your other guest mentioned, Jane, a thorough worldwide, everyone get together and figure out just where this guy has been.

And he hasn`t always been there as himself. You know he has all kinds of identities and passports, et cetera, so this is going to get a very strong look and fast.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: You are so right when you say that this character in the movie is named Magnotta. I spoke to animal rights activists who have been hunting this guy for years, because he allegedly tortured kittens and killed them and put those videos online. And they don`t believe that Luka Magnotta`s his real name at all.

Let`s go to the phone lines. Michelle, Alabama. Your question or thought, Michelle?

CALLER: Hi, Jane. Thank you for having me.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Sure.

CALLER: I have a couple of points to make. One of the points is that there`s not much mention of the dog in the video that was forced to partake in cannibalism. I know that`s horrible. And I was wondering where is the dog?

And perhaps maybe the head isn`t, like, anywhere to be found because perhaps the dog ate it. I mean, I know this sounds horrible...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, Michelle, you`re actually raising some good points.

Jon Lieberman, investigative reporter. This sicko allegedly brings in a dog -- and I don`t want to get too graphic here -- but after this victim was murdered to partake of the flesh, and people have been asking, what happened to the dog? Because this man is known for torturing animals, allegedly. Could he have then tortured the dog and killed the dog, as well?

LIEBERMAN: Absolutely. I mean, that`s something else that law enforcement is looking into. A few nights ago right here, I spoke about watching that video and seeing the dog go in the room and...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: But we don`t want to get too graphic.

LIEBERMAN: I`m not going to get into the details of it, but it is certainly something that is important to investigators as well as they continue looking for clues.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And this is all in Canada where the killing allegedly occurred, so it`s not even American investigators.

Now, there`s a potential Hollywood connection. On this unedited audition tape, Magnotta acts like a star waiting to be discovered by Hollywood. Watch this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: I have a very deep voice. A lot of people tell me that, actually.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: How did you get your voice so deep?

MAGNOTTA: How do I get my voice so deep? Practice makes perfect, right?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Now, did Magnotta go to Hollywood? The answer is yes. The question is was he there last year when a severed head and other limbs were found scattered near the Hollywood sign?

The Sun newspaper reports back in January, when the head was discovered, Magnotta was living in Los Angeles and working as a prostitute there. Today, the Los Angeles Police Department told us, quote, "Our investigators are in contact with Canadian investigators are trying to determine Magnotta`s whereabouts during the time of the Hollywood Hills murders."

Ten seconds, Mike Brooks, could there be a connection?

BROOKS: Never say never when it comes to sickos like this, Jane. Absolutely. And that`s why they`re looking into it. Otherwise they would have totally discarded it.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This is far from being over. The investigation has brought us to the suspect and the questions beside that. Are there another possible homicide or other crime linked to that person? That will be investigated, for sure.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Luka Magnotta was struggling to be famous. He was also financially desperate. Watch this unedited audition. He`s practically begging to be cast in this reality show.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGNOTTA: Practice makes perfect, right?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You have your hair colored.

MAGNOTTA: No, actually, I just got it highlighted and changed things up a bit. I have no problem gaining weight. I can gain weight if I need to gain weight. I can gain muscle. Anybody can gain muscle. I`m very determined and every goal that I put my mind to I surpass.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: But he didn`t get that part and he was so desperate because he needed money. In 2007 he declared bankruptcy. Take a look at his expenses. Luka owed $500 in a gym membership, $1,400 in cell phone bills.

But Mike Brooks, HLN law enforcement analyst, he also owed $2,500 in back rent and almost 7 grand in car payments, $800 in parking tickets, and $200 in unpaid highway tolls. And I`ve got to tell you, Mike, when you can`t play a toll you are really flat broke.

BROOKS: Exactly. And that`s going to be one of the other things they`re going to be looking at, obviously, are his bank statements. Where is he getting the money to travel to all these different places? Where is he getting money to, you know, subsist on? These are things they`re going to be looking into, because when you ask someone who`s engaged or allegedly engaged in prostitution and things like that, a lot of times they may have someone who`s giving them money on a regular basis, Jane.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Jon Lieberman, we were talking about this unsolved murder near the Hollywood sign. How can American cops work with the international authorities to try to solve that case?

LIEBERMAN: American cops want to get his DNA in their hands and it appears that investigators overseas got his DNA from inside of a hotel room in Paris where he stayed while he was a fugitive. If U.S. investigators can get a hold of that DNA, they`ll run it through CODIS, through the DNA database here, and see if anything pops up. And they`ll use it to help them in that L.A. case to match with whatever foreign DNA they have on those body parts that they found out in L.A.

‘Canadian psycho’ may have lived in Miami

Miami police will investigate whether accused murderer Luka Rocco Magnotta played a role in a grisly 2009 case that remains unsolved.

By Rene Rodriguez
rrodriguez@MiamiHerald.com

Miami police said Saturday it’s possible that a Canadian man arrested in Berlin on a murder charge last week also was responsible for an unsolved 2009 murder in Miami.

Possible. But not likely.

Both homicides involved dismemberment.

In the Canadian case, former porn star Luka Rocco Magnotta is accused of stabbing 33-year-old Montreal college student Jun Lin to death with an ice pick, then mailing severed body parts — including a hand and a foot — to various government offices.

In the Miami case, police still have no leads on the murder of 21 year-old Omar Laparra, whose dismembered body was found floating in plastic bags in Biscayne Bay in 2009.

Although the Magnotta case has dominated the Canadian news media for the last two weeks, Miami didn’t come into the story until a journalist asked local police about a possible connection.

"Why not look into it? Any agency with a similar case, we would look into it,” said Miami Sgt. Confesor Gonzalez, the lead investigator in the Laparra case. “However, the preliminary look shows the M.O. is different. In the Canadian case, it appeared to be domestic and the killer knew the victim while in our case, it appears to be random. Nonetheless, in the interest of being thorough, we will follow up with Montreal police."

Body parts suspect Luka Magnotta pleads not guilty
June 19, 2012

Defence lawyers asked that Luka Rocco Magnotta undergo a psychological evaluation before proceedings continue.

The 29-year-old is accused of first-degree murder, defiling a corpse and threatening the prime minister.

The limbs of his alleged victim, a 33-year-old Chinese student, were sent to political parties and schools.

On Thursday, a court is to consider the request from Mr Magnotta's lawyer for tests to determine whether the suspect bears criminal responsibility.

Mr Magnotta was extradited from Germany on Monday and brought to Canada by military transportation

Official: Police think they found a human head
July 1, 2012

TORONTO (AP) - Police have found what appears to be a human head in a park in Montreal and are investigating whether it is the missing head of a Chinese student who they say was dismembered by a Canadian porn actor.

A police official said Sunday it appears to be human and look like a head. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the details.

Police investigate remains found in Montreal park
July 2, 2012

(CNN) -- Montreal police are investigating the possibility that remains found in a park over the weekend could belong to the Chinese university student whose gruesome death and dismemberment were recorded in an video posted to the Internet.

"We had information and yes we found something, but honestly we need the remains to return from analysis to know if the remains are human and if it is connected to the murder," Montreal police Commander Ian Lafreniere said Monday.
