WILLEMSTAD, Curacao –  Authorities on the Caribbean island of Curacao are investigating the deaths of 6-year-old twin girls found in a bathtub at a beach resort.

Prosecutor Ludmila Vicento says the dead girls' Belgian mother is being evaluated at a psychiatric hospital. The 35-year-old woman has not been charged with anything. Authorities on the Dutch island are only identifying the mother by her initials, S.V.

Vicento says staff at the Curacao Marriott Beach Resort saw the woman walk naked into the sea late Sunday. They brought her back to shore and called authorities.

Police soon found the lifeless girls in her room's tub. They have not released more details citing an ongoing probe. Autopsies are pending.

WILLEMSTAD — Twin girls were found dead in a bathtub of a room in the Marriott Hotel last night. The girls gave no sign of life. Shortly afterwards two people on a Seadoo had carried their confused and naked mother ashore. The woman was admitted to the Klínika Capriles with a psychiatric certification.The 35-year old Belgium woman S.M.P.V. was on holidays on Curaçao since last week with her daughters, both with the initials A.A.C.N.M., and her mother. The authorities have meanwhile informed the father in Belgium. The consul of Belgium on Curaçao, Ivan Moreno, received instructions from the Belgium embassy in Caracas not to make any statements to the media. The embassy, closed until July 25th, was not available for comment. Press officer Gisele Veen-Jonkhout confirmed that the bodies of the girls were confiscated by order of the Public Prosecutor. The autopsy will be performed later this week.

The grandmother is to stay on the island for the time being, due to interrogation by the police. No information is being given on the psychological situation of the mother and the situation of the family; the psychiatrists are to speak with the woman.

Hotel personnel had alarmed the policy around eight last night after noticing that water was coming from under the door of the hotel room. When opening the door to check the situation, they found the dead bodies of the children in the bathtub. Apparently the written press wisely hadn’t published the picture, although pictures of the mother – clothed in a towel – were published or images broadcasted.

Family drama

The suspected family drama is the second with six months. Last January, the police found the bodies of a father, mother and 15-year old son in an apartment building at Dominguito. The father and son were dead while the mother had a pulse beat. Medicines among other things were found in the room. The family from France had been coping with financial problems and apparently saw no other way out than commit suicide. Later on in the hospital the woman was arrested on suspicion of murdering her underage son. She committed suicide later on, while in prison.

Kyle Kingman:  John is not a believer in the trap. He took ALE's word as gospel that it wasn't case related, yet never studied the videos or bothered to inquire further. He had plans on doing business with Aruba and in S. America and he didn't want to hurt any feelings by talks hinting at lack of complete trust and friendship. I did not feel the same and we had a major difference in opinion. He was the one who never pressed ALE to be completely open with us with the trap evidence. I would have forced them to. However, John was the one paying my invoices so I was forced to sit back and hope for the best.

I hope that the Persistence has not done all of this work and gone to all of this expense only to have gotten itself into an arrangement whereby Aruban divers are the ones who actually verify the targets and are the first ones to physically retrieve evidence, with no American divers physically with them. If so, all I can say is I just can't believe this has happened. But surely I am wrong.

If I understood Kyle correctly, and that would be that the Arubans retrieved and possessed all finds, not sharing anything with the crew, then that effort was a waste of time and effort. The only thing it could have accomplished was to locate additional evidence for the Arubans to destroy. I am not sure if that was the protocol out of Aruba's waters though. The effort was superb, but the game was fixed.

Sunday, just after 12:30 a.m. a person was found in a puddle of blood in a room at La Cabana. Two people tried resuscitating the person to no avail. Police and ambulance arrived on the scene and as the person was not reacting, they called the doctor on call to confirm the passing of the person. An investigation is underway.

Good grief, this rang so many bells! 

Prosecutor screws up, cover up then ship him back to the Netherlands before anyone knows what happened.

Timely, and lengthy vacations...

Pointe Blanche:--- A prisoner at the Pointe Blanche Prison filed a complaint against one of the Public Prosecutor's on St. Maarten for having an affair with his girlfriend while he is incarcerated. According to reliable information reaching SMN News, the prisoner even accused the Public Prosecutor of impregnating his girlfriend. SMN News learnt that the prisoner's girlfriend is working at a well known law firm on St. Maarten.

Sources said the Attorney General (Openbaar Ministerie) is doing their best to cover up the allegations and complaint filed against the Public Prosecutor since his term on St. Maarten is almost over and he is already in the Netherlands. Efforts made to reach Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos for a comment on the allegations proved futile since he could not be reached by telephone. SMN News learnt that Mos is on vacation for at least one month. SMN News also contacted the Attorney General of St. Maarten Taco Stein for a comment. Stein said the incident happened before he arrived on the island and that the only person that has information on the investigation is the Chief Prosecutor of St. Maarten Hans Mos who is currently off island. Mos is expected to be back on St. Maarten on July 16th 2012.

In an invited comment, Minister of Justice Roland Duncan confirmed that a complaint was filed by a convict against one of the Public Prosecutors. Minister Duncan said that he heard of the complaint and the same allegations that were being made. "I heard the same things that you heard but I cannot say if the woman is pregnant and if she is pregnant for the prosecutor because I am not a doctor and for this to be determined DNA tests would have to be conducted."

The Minister of Justice also said he is dealing with the matter but he did not say how he intends to do so. Based on Stein's comment, it appears as though the allegations and complaint were filed almost three months ago and somehow it was swept under the proverbial carpet. It should be noted that SMN News tried to obtain the name of the accused prosecutor, the convict, and the girlfriend but we were not able to obtain that information.

A lawyer for a man suspected in the presumed death of his traveling companion in Aruba says prosecutors in Maryland are dropping an unrelated indecent exposure charge.

A lawyer for Gary Giordano told The Associated Press that a prosecutor informed him of the decision Friday.

Giordano was arrested in May after Annapolis police say he and a woman were found naked in a parked car. Giordano was charged with indecent exposure and the case was set for trial next week.

Attorney Steven Kupferberg asked for the case to be dismissed, saying no crime had been committed.

State law makes it illegal to be naked willfully or intentionally in public. Kupferberg says that wasn't the case here.

There is no control as to what is dumped. No steps are taken to stop this irresponsible conduct. An official appeal has been sent to the Government put an end to this.

Page 29:  The Aruban police asked the Equusearch team to send divers into the water that had filled a rock quarry behind the van der Sloot home.  Apparently, a body had been found in there many years earlier.  We had a meeting with the press and Equusearch, and everyone agreed that only one reporter would be present during this search, but not everyone attended that meeting.  Some other members of the news media showed up during the search and were asked to leave, but they refused saying that it was their country and public property.  There was a heated confrontation and police had to be called in to rope off the area so the search could continue.  The search dogs did not come up with a hit.

Page 106:  Segments of the government obviously knew more than they were willing to say. Apparently, a judge's son is above the law.  He went out with his buddies and they supposedly did soething bad, and the police start their investigation by arresting everyone but them.

ORANJESTAD — The image of neglected, sick and aggressive dogs on the beaches and streets is an eyesore for tourists and a reason not to visit Aruba again. For the government this is actually a reason to make the promised budget available in tackling the problem with curs, despite the Regulation on Dogs that stipulates conditions to treat animals well. This regulation is expected to be ready at the end of this year.The Amigoe reported yesterday that Animal Rights Aruba (ARA), Veterinary Service Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) and Tourism Product Enhancement fund (TPEF) joined hands to launch an awareness campaign. The aim is to alter the reverse image that tourists have on how Aruba treats curs. The chairman of the fund, Jan van Nes, also manages Hotel Playa Linda. He stated that on the review website Tripadvisor, his hotel receives positive reactions on the beach, the catering industry and the friendly people but that the sight of curs is a reason not to spend another holiday on Aruba. “We must do something to show that we are most certainly taking action”, he said. Director Ronella Croes of ATA endorsed this. “We are used to seeing neglected dogs and pups on the streets but for tourists visiting our island for the first time this is a reason to file a complaint with ATA and not return to the island.”  She explained this was also a reason for ATA to help tackle the problem of curs. “We want to do something to remove the reverse image with the tourists and we want to make the people aware that a behavioral change towards animals is necessary.”

Birmingham, Alabama (WIAT)  Robyn Gardner's family is enduring the first year anniversary of her disappearance on vacation on Aruba...a pain Natalee Holloway's family can understand like few others.

The two cases happened years apart under different circumstances but there are eery similarities. In each case a vacationing American woman disappeared on the island, last seen with a man who, although investigated by local authorities,  was released and not charged.

The 35-year-old Gardner was reported missing on Aug. 2, 2011 by her travel companion Gary Giordano, who claimed she was swept out to sea while the two were snorkeling.

Apparently stung by comparisons to the 2005 disappearance of Mountain Brook teen Natalee Holloway on a graduation trip, island officials conducted extensive searches for Gardner but turned up nothing. Aruban authorities held Giordano as long as they could but released him when they couldn't develop enough evidence to hold keep him on the island.

Family and friends gathered inside a small Frederick, Md. art gallery Wednesday to mark Gardner's disappearance, reports CBS affiliate WUSA. Participants were adamant that Wednesday's service was not a memorial.

"The idea is to have a vigil for someone who is missing with the hopes that she's possibly still alive," said organizer and friend Christina Jones.

Giordano is the lone suspect in her disappearance but was never charged. He was jailed for four months in Aruba but was let go for lack of evidence. He has since returned to Maryland and has filed a claim with an insurance company for the $3.5 million life insurance policy he had taken out on Gardner.

Natalee Holloway's father had his daughter declared legally dead last year, a move mother Beth went along with reluctantly. What the Holloways have in common with Gardner's friends and family is their continued quest for answers to what happened and why.

Giordano's counterpart in the Holloway case is Joran van der Sloot, a Dutch teen living on Aruba at the time of Natalee's disappearance. She was last seen leaving an Oranjestad bar with van der Sloot and two of his local pals.

Like Giordano he was questioned but released by Aruban authorities. Van der Sloot is currently serving a 28 year murder sentence in Peru. He was convicted of killing a Peruvian student he met in a casino. Stephany Flores' corpse was found in van der Sloot's Lima hotel room five years to the day that he walked out of that Aruban bar with Natalee.

Joran van der Sloot is Monday 25 years old. His birthday must in the heavily guarded prison in Lima Piedras Gordas celebrate. He sits a prison sentence of 28 years for the murder of Peruvian Stephany Flores in May 2010.

I am amazed that the people who love or care for Joran do not yet see that he needs the help that can only be provided by him going to the authorities and telling the entire truth. Being rejected by society, labled as a criminal, all are taking a horrible toll on Joran that is going to fuel his addictions and push him further and further into a self destructive lifestyle. I would think his mother would recognize Joran's needs, and see the benefit he would gain even from incarceration. The announcement of the loss of Round Field yesterday was one thirty in the afternoon inside. My DIL often has a heads up of Beth's speaking engagements and interviews.  DIL and son were in Seattle for a wedding this weekend and have yet to return.  I checked.  No email.

Beth, you have been hearing what we have been dealing with in Dina`s situation with her son, Max. What would your advice be to Dina? What is your take on this situation? What can she do to get through this?

BETH HOLLOWAY, MOTHER OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY: Well, Dina`s doing everything that she should be doing. And you know, she is -- she mentioned that she just had a feeling that things were not right and the circumstances surrounding Max`s death. So she is going with her gut and she is wanting to encourage the law enforcement to please, to take another look at Maxie`s case.

And she -- we know as parents when things are not completely right and she is taking the right steps and she is trying to move Maxie`s case forward. And I applaud her. I have the greatest sympathy and empathy for the extremely painful process that Dina is going through right now.

As I read on in the journal, I discover that one of the most moving entries is her desription of a hero.  Natalee writes:

A Hero is someone who puts others before himself.  He or she is very selfless and cares about the well-being of others.  Heroes also accept life's challenges and remain strong through tough times.  They also have a strong sense of determination and stick to goals and morals.  I believe that heroes uphold morals and try to encourage others to live life morally correct.  Heroes are not only just people called in times of physical danger, but individuals that can both emotionally and physically help people get through rough times.  A hero should always show respect for other people as well as respect for himself.

Instantly I realize that Natalee is poignantly describing the people who have reached out to help her family get through this "tough time."  It's almost as if she is thanking everyone herself by recognizing the importance of selfless people.  And I am amazed at her profound words here.  I sit and read the entire journal.

The former Atlanta Hawk spent 11 seasons in the NBA and had three consecutive All-Star seasons. He drowned Aug. 6 off the Caribbean island of Aruba while helping his wife as she struggled in rough water. He was 59.

The Hawks announced that his funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Norcross. The service is open to the public.

Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Gregory B. Levitz and Sons Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.

It is interesting how easy it is to kill someone and be acquitted in the Netherlands or Aruba. I don't know if anyone has followed this story, but a Mariner(Dutch National) player was killed by his brother who was just recently acquitted. A very sad story!

Kyle Kingman: Just before Christmas they are contacted by a detective and his brother who gave them information that turned out to be the correct latitude.

Kyle Kingman: He came to us during the search along with his brother who had a "vision" on where Natalee was disposed.

Kyle Kingman: The brother thought they were coordinates, but it was just a latitude. Oddly, the latitude was within a half mile from where we found the trap and centered on Arashi beach. 
 
Kyle Kingman: Based on this latitude we payed a little more attention to the northern portions of the search grid near that Latitude. The trap was found shortly after, within the original search area, but very close to the provided latitude.

Kyle Kingman:  I think he used his brother and gave us only the amount of information he felt we needed to come across the trap.

Kyle Kingman:  If a key detective's brother knew the latitude the trap was disposed at or very near, then it's probable the detective knew the same.

Kyle Kingman:  The implications of this are tremendous. If true, it means that the early investigators knew where and how Natalee was disposed and it was kept secret and covered up.

Page 118 - Sometime in early July 2005, Robin and I saw Deputy Police Comissioner Gerold Dompig's son and another young man who appeared to have similar descriptive features of Steve Croes, the Tattoo party boat disc jockey who had been arrested and released, trying to pick up a girl in the Holiday Inn lobby hallway and get her to go to Carlos and Charlie's. The girl was offering resistance and trying to distance herself from these two. As the guys were walking by, young Dompig noticed me and immediately discontinued his activity. The other kid realized he was getting nowhere with the girl and started in on another set of women. I walked up to Dompig, and he seemed a little embarrassed that we had witnessed his actions. He then started talking about the case, and during this conversation he mentioned that he had heard that Paulus van der Sloot had borrowed a friend's boat on either the night of Natalee's disappearance or the next day and that he was allegedly involved with Natalee's murder. That brought to mind one of Joran's statements. He referred to a friend by the name of Koen Gottenbos. Apparently, this friend's father owned a boat. The message was that this boat was used to take Natalee out to sea. Another boat that was also mentioned by him was the Pair A Dice, which is a local boat from Aruba.

Page 181 - Art and I talked to Ms. Flanagan about all the red flags that we were seeing and that we thought Koen, Joran, and Deepak took Natalee out in the boat. She agreed with that theory. She added that the reason she had left the case was because she thought Koen was lying, and when she asked the police to reinterview him, they refused. We told her that we were going to talk to the prime minister the next day to lay it all out.

Page 177 - After Dompig heard we had found the boat, he indicated that he was going to bring Koen in for questioning in a day or so. I told him that if they interviewed Koen, they might solve the case.

Page 182 - I asked Dompig to do the interview of Koen instead of having Jacobs do it. I became concerned because he said he would have to discuss it with Jacobs first. Several weeks later, I heard that Koens father had been interviewed, but Koen had not been questioned yet.

I can't believe I even let myself experience another feeling of "This is it."  Why do I do this?

The answer must be hope.  What else could sustain a person to endure all this?  Hope is the reason I believed Natalee was going to come through that door.  Hope is why we react the way we do at all of these strange and excruciating and ultimately disappointing occurrences.  It's that glimmer of a promise that the answer will be revealed.

Silent, Jug and I simply walk out of the police station and go our separate ways.

I don't believe there can be the kind of manipulation of the courts afforded Joran in Peru as was done in Aruba. (Not for him anyway, LOL)  Two very different worlds, Peru and Aruba.  Joran messed up and murdered the young  daughter of a highly regarded Peruvian public figure in Peru.  Joran was arrested, brought to trial and sentenced, and he's serving that sentence now.   He certainly didn't go free, did he?   I think it's Joran's attorney making noise like defense attorneys do.  JMHO

If Altez sent an application to IACHR to review the case, has the Peruvian Supreme Court ruled on the length of the sentence yet?  I thought that all legal appeals must be finished before IACHR accepts an application for consideration?  IIRC, the extradition issue to the U.S. is on hold until the legal process is finished.

Could it be that Dutch/Aruban/Peruvian behind the scenes negotiations motivated Peruvian's highest court to reverse the original ruling of a judge regarding immediate extradition of Joran van der Sloot to Alabama to be tried for the extortion beyond cruel of Beth Holloway?  Joran's attorney did not anticipate the extradition reversal by Peru's highest court.

Think about it.  Why would Peru's highest court prevent Joran's immediate extradition to Albama while logic dictates that in 9-28 years the extortion case would be compromised on so many levels in regards to the testimony of witnesses?  It doesn't make sense UNLESS higher ups behind the scene has Joran's back.  IMO

I personally don't believe Peru wants Joran (a foreigner) going anywhere until he serves his sentence for murdering one of their citizens on their soil. (not to mention he fled the country before being caught).  It's not like he is some sort of diplomat or important person, so there's no reason to give him any privileges.   ::MonkeyNoNo::   I don't think any "Higherups" anywhere have his back.  I think he might have made some money by selling his story or photos, and of course there was that very disturbed Mary person that gave him funds, and there may be others that will give money in exchange for his story or exclusive book or something, but no, I don't think these days Joran has much pull.  His notoriety is probably what's funding him now.  Kind of like the women that want to marry Scott Peterson.   ::MonkeyTongue::  I don't think any extraditions are in his cards any time soon, since they will need to wait in line till he finishes his sentence in Peru.  JMHO
