Police say Autumn Pasquale, 12, was last seen leaving her home on W. High Street in Clayton on Saturday around 12:30 p.m. while riding on a white Odyssey BMX bike. The girl’s parents reported her missing at 9:30 p.m.

Police say Pasquale may have been spotted at an unknown time on E. Academy Street near Scotland Run Park in Clayton though this has not yet been confirmed.

Pasquale is white, about five feet, two inches tall (although a Facebook post says she's five feet, four inches tall) and weighing about 120 pounds. She has blue eyes and blonde hair, which she was wearing in a pony tail or bun when last seen, police said.

She was wearing Navy blue shorts under sweatpants of the same color and a yellow T-shirt with “Clayton Soccer” printed on the front. She also wore bright blue high-top sneakers and a silver or light gray cinch backpack with “Reckless” printed on the back.

Missing 12 year old girl in New Jersey
MISSING.....Our friend's daughter AUTUMN PASQUALE has not been seen since yesterday afternoon at her fathers house in Clayton, NJ. 12 years old, 5'4" 120lbs, blue eyes, blond wavy hair, usually wears it in a ponytail or "messy bun". Not sure what she was wearing except for blue sneakers. Last seen in Clayton, NJ 1:30pm. No cell phone activity since 2:41pm. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE If you've seen her, know where she might be, please contact us!!!! Or call Clayton police at 856-881-2300. We just want her home safe. CLAYTON, N.J. - October 21, 2012 (WPVI) -- If you see Autumn Pasquale, please call your local police department.

The family of 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale is growing anxious because the Clayton girl went for a bike ride around 12:30 Saturday afternoon and hasn't been seen since.

" I just got off the phone and her mailbox is now full," her uncle, Paul Spadafora, told Action News.

Both police and family members believe Pasquale's cell phone is now turned off. Relatives say they have reason to believe the girl could've ventured to the area of Scotland Run Park. They spent Sunday searching these grounds.

Looking through these "little" girls Facebooks just breaks my heart. Geesh when I was 12 yrs old we were still playing with dolls and boys were the last thing on our minds. Girls are being pushed to be grown women way before their time. 12 yrs going on 30.

Darla,  the park is approx. 2.8 miles from the street she lives on.  (W. High St.)

What gets me is the following ...

She rides her bike from her home at 12:30 PM on Saturday and yet not reported missing until 9:30 PM. Are you telling me that no one confirmed where she was for 9 hrs by either cell phone or text?

Where was she supposed to be going when she left the house? Wouldn't whose ever house she was going to called her house to ask where she was?

I mean folks, she is 12 years old, not 22. No one knew where their pre-teen was for 9 hours? That to me is shocking in this day and age.

I've seen one more post "I heard they found her bike and phone" but nothing in any way official yet about the phone being found.

Hope they find her soon, this doesn't look good.

That is what is bothering me too Red. I have a 12 yr old and a 10 yr old granddaughter and when they are visiting me, They have to be in my sight at all times. We rode our bikes and would be away from home for hrs, but times were way different back then. And my parents always knew where to find me. But I never went alone.

Thank you Babs, I hadn't heard what street she lived on. Geesh that is a long way . Praying this little girl is found safe, but my gut is telling me this is not going to turn out well.

Yes, I too rode my bike all day, but that was back in the stone ages in much different times. Although, I rode my bikes with friends. It was like the Huffy/Schwinn version of Hell's Angels. Heck, we used to do alot of things that just would never even be a consideration today.

Parents ... WAKE THE HELL UP, THERE ARE PREDATORS OUT THERE JUST WAITING FOR THEIR OPPORTUNITY. Please know where you children are. There is no reason not to, ever 6 year old now has a cell phone.

I really am praying for the best, but this one is starting to resemble the last case of the little girl walking by herself to meet friends in the park to head off to school. Hate to say it.

There are a lot of unanswered questions that has my brain scrambled. I guess after 7 years of  following these stories and praying for these kids I guess I am just more aware of what is going on in our communities. I see young girls out walking at night and want to stop and tell them to get their behinds home.

CLAYTON — A widespread search for a missing Gloucester County girl who went missing over the weekend continues at this hour.

Autumn Pasquale, 12, left her West High Street home around 12:30 p.m. Saturday on a white BMX bicycle. Her family reported her missing around 9:30 p.m. the same day after she did not return home.

When she left her house, Pasquale did not say where she was going.

Officers from Clayton initially started searching for her, only to be joined on Sunday by other agencies. County officials activated its county-wide “Child Abduction Response Team” – a coordinated effort by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office which relies on the resources of personnel and equipment from various local law enforcement agencies under the direction of county detectives.

Autumn Pasquale Missing: Authorities searching for 12-year-old New Jersey girl

(CBS) CLAYTON, N.J. - New Jersey State Police are asking for the public's help in their search for Autumn Pasquale, a missing 12-year-old girl who disappeared from her father's home in Clayton, New Jersey on Saturday, CBS Philly reports.

Pasquale was last seen leaving her home on Saturday  at 1:30pm on a white BMX Odyssey bike.

"When you wake up in the morning and your daughter's still not home, it's time to panic," said Autumn's mother Jenn Cornwall, "I don't know who she was supposed to meet up with. She just left and said she was meeting a friend."

She communicated with her mom by phone about 15 minutes after she left the home. Cornwall says they briefly texted back and forth.

Family, friends and neighbors have been searching for Pasquale since her father reported her missing around 9:30pm on Oct. 20. Clayton Police were joined by the Gloucester County Child Abduction Response Team of K-9 units and officers and firefighters from surrounding towns. The FBI is also involved in the search, and New Jersey State Police helicopter has searched the area.

Autumn's father, Tony Pasquale, said his daughter would not have left on her own.

"The police expressed runaway," he said. "I totally disagree with that, because it's not her at all. She's responsible, respectful. She's a good girl."

Public awareness. 

Because I have three kids spread apart over many years I know from experience MANY parents are completely oblivious to the dangers out there.  They are unaware of the growing epidemic of predators amongst us.  We're bombarded with information about health, food, advertising, politics, and sports but this issue is largely ignored.

For those folks who don't watch tv or read the news it is easy for them to just not understand the danger posed to our children and the importance of proactively protecting them.

There must be a better way to reach these parents.  Some person or organization who has acces to the funding should initiate a campaign about this issue IMO.

CLAYTON, N.J. - October 22, 2012 (WPVI) -- A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the whereabouts of 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale, of Clayton, New Jersey, who has been missing for two days.

Autumn's parents appeared at a news conference with Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton on Monday afternoon. They did not speak, but wanted to be there to offer support.
Dalton announced the $10,000 reward in this case. Half of the money was raised by the family and it was matched by the prosecutor's office.

Dalton also said investigators have conducted 75 interviews, including Autumn's friends and family. He said the Child Abduction Response Team (CART) has been activated, they have pulled records of every registered sex offender in the area and they are looking at surveillance video from around town.

Autumn went for a bike ride around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and hasn't been seen since. However, Dalton confirmed that Autumn sent a text message from her cell phone at 2:27 p.m. that day. He did not say what was in that message.

Police say she was wearing blue sweatpants over blue shorts, a yellow t-shirt with "Clayton Soccer" on front and bright high top sneakers. She was last seen riding a 20" BMX Odyssey bicycle on West High Street.

Her family reported her missing at 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Pasquale, who is one week away from turning 13, has blonde hair with pink highlights, stands about 5'2" tall and weighs 120 pounds.

On Monday morning, authorities asked those who want to help to stick to handing out flyers and not go into the woods so as not to destroy evidence or add new scents.

Both police and family members believe Pasquale's cell phone is now turned off.

disagree...you would have to be living in a cave to not know what is going on in this crazy world and no amount of funding will make a difference to parents who don't keep up on current events in our warped world...Parents owe it to their children to be informed of the dangers in this world. To do any less is irresponsible parenting in my humble opinion...

I understand Cookie.  Ideally all parents would be so informed.  Some parents I know really struggle with both of them working full time plus commuting, several kids in sports, one of them has a very ill child who also takes a lot of time, maybe caring for elderly parents on top of it all, some of them spend what little time they have in church or just trying to rest a little.  One couple I know the father owns a fishing vessel and mom takes care of the two kids by herself plus works full time.  It's a high pressure world we live in.

Anyway, I think billboards and radio slogans wouldn't hurt a bit especially if LE aren't making public all the incidents that are occurring.  Kind of what's been done with drinking and driving or cancer awareness.  Walk a thons for the endangered and missing, petitions to change predator laws and get them on the ballots, t-shirts, make the whole thing 'cool' through some funky creative message.

It's a taboo subject no one likes to talk about.  Add to that the fact that parents don't want to be told how to parent.  I remember the early day of MADD.  That was a huge grass roots effort that made a big difference in the lives of many.

Family asks public to stop search of Clayton girl for the night

Family members of missing 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale are asking the public to end their search for the night and instead gather near the municipal building for a prayer vigil.

The vigil is slated to begin at 8 p.m.

“Autumn still needs to be found,” said the missing girl’s godfather Paul Spadafora. “We have done everything we can today. Police are still investigating.”

Spadafora said the family is requesting that the public return tonight for a time of prayer, so Autumn can return in time to celebrate her 13th birthday next Monday.

Why are they asking people to quit looking....This case has boggled my mind since the beginning. Something is just not adding up. Dad said she left without saying where she was going. Curfew at 9:30 for a 12 yr old. It is pitch dark at that time. If she decides to spend the night and be home by 11 am ....Do they not know who she was spending the night with? My gut is telling me this 12 yr old child went to meet someone from the internet. I pray she is safe somewhere, but this is not looking good.

Official: Body of missing N.J. girl believed found
October 23, 2012

The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement that the body found 10 p.m. Monday in Clayton is believed to be that of Autumn Pasquale, who was last seen on Saturday.

Officials did not say exactly where the body was found. An autopsy to confirm the body's identity will be conducted Tuesday morning by the Gloucester County Medical Examiner's office, officials said.

Investigators with the prosecutor's office found the body shortly after an emotional candlelight vigil was held for the girl in her hometown.

Bernie Weisenfeld, spokesman for the Gloucester County Prosecutor's office, said Pasquale's family was notified of the discovery.

"This is a very sad day for the Pasquale family," Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean F. Dalton said in a statement. "Our hearts go out to the family and to all the residents of Clayton who stood together in support of this young girl."

No other information was released, and officials continued their investigation through the night.

Authorities confirmed that the body of Autumn Pasquale was found in recycling bin at about 10 p.m. Monday at a property near the corner of Vine Street and Clayton Avenue in Clayton, NJ.
 
“On this sunny morning, we mourn the loss of a beautiful girl named Autumn,” said Gloucester County prosecutor Sean Dalton during a news conference Tuesday. “The search for Autumn is over, but the investigation to find out what happened to Autumn has begun.”

Body Found Is Missing Autumn Pasquale, Police Locate Bike Nearby

CLAYTON, N.J. - The family of Autumn Pasquale confirmed Tuesday morning a body discovered in Clayton is that of their missing 12-year-old.

The search ended around 10 p.m. Monday on East Clayton Avenue when a search team member found her body in one of the blue recycling bins placed out for pickup Tuesday morning.

The location is right around the corner from the Clayton Police Department, a quarter-mile from Delsea Drive and not far from Autumn's home.

Police take bike from where NJ girl's body found

CLAYTON, N.J. (AP) — Police removed a bicycle Tuesday from a property where a 12-year-old girl's body was found in a recycling bin, a case that has spread fear and worry through a town that had been desperately searching for her since she disappeared while on a ride through the neighborhood.

Authorities did not identify the occupants of the home or confirm the bike was the one belonging to Autumn Pasquale, but it matched the description of the white BMX she was seen riding Saturday afternoon before she disappeared.

Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton would not call the death a homicide and said there were no suspects. Autopsy results were pending.

But if someone is found responsible for the death of Autumn, who would have turned 13 next Monday, "they don't deserve to be walking the streets," he said at a news conference Tuesday.

Three teenage brothers live at the home where the bike and body were found, said two friends of the brothers, Na'eem Williams and Jodie Robinson, both 16. One of the teens in the home was known for trading BMX bike parts, said other friends, Corey Hewes, 19, and Alexis Davis, 16.

The house was a place where teens frequently hung out and had parties, some neighbors said.

Crime scene investigators arrived shortly before 9 a.m. at the house where the body was found. Authorities have not said where on the property the recycling bin was found.

But Tuesday was trash collection day, and many residents had dragged their trash cans and recycling bins to the curb the night before. The covered recycling bins are collected by an automated truck that picks them up and dumps the contents into the back.

Police barricaded the block, and friends and neighbors came by to see. Some mothers said they were keeping their kids out of school for the day. Even before the body was found, students reported that Spirit Week had been canceled because of the sorrow.

Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton has scheduled a 4 p.m. press conference to update the investigation into the killing of Autumn Pasquale.

Attention has been focused on a home in the 300 block of East Clayton Avenue, where the bike was removed. The girl’s body was found in a recycling bin near the house.

 Alonzo Robinson said he was awoken around 3 a.m. today by telephone calls of several family members who had seen his old Clayton house on the news. "I was shocked," he said. "I thought, 'That's where my kids are.'"

"All I know is that a little 12-year-old girl's life was taken," said Robinson, 47, who lives in Glassboro. He has been divorced form his wife, Anita Turpin, for seven years, and has not had contact with his five children during that time.

 Robinson said he spoke with police officers today who told him that the boys' mother dropped off the keys to the house at the police station.

GLOUCESTER COUNTY, N.J. - Investigators in Gloucester County say two brothers, both of whom are teenagers, were charged Tuesday in the death of 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale.

The two faces first degree murder and other charges and are currently in police custody.

An autopsy performed on her body earlier Tuesday revealed the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and strangulation.

Investigators say there were no signs of sexual assault.

Two teenage brothers have been charged in connection with the murder of 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale, who disappeared from her New Jersey home this weekend and was found in a recycling bin Monday night.

The boys, ages 15 and 17, were neighbors of Pasquale, who was last seen alive riding her bicycle on Saturday in her neighborhood in Clayton, N.J., police said today.

Police said that Pasquale's injuries were consistent with strangulation, and that there was no sign of sexual assault. They believe she was lured to the boys' home on Saturday.

Both boys turned themselves in to police in the company of their attorneys this afternoon, just hours after police found Pasquale's body in a recycling bin not far from her home, police said today.

Police said at a press conference this afternoon that information posted on one of the boy's Facebook pages led their mother to call police. He did not specify what kind of information was posted.

Authorities said they cannot legally release the names of the boys due to New Jersey law.

The brothers are charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, disposing a body, and tampering with evidence, according to police.

No arrests have been made, according to Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton. Neighbors and onlookers gasped as investigators pulled a white BMX bicycle from the Robinson house. The bike is similar to the one that Autumn Pasquale was seen riding before her disappearance.

Robinson said his sons were known for stealing bikes in the neighborhood and police told him they found bike parts stockpiled in the basement. He said one of the boys had been previously charged for theft.

"I think someone wanted the girl's bicycle," Robinson said. "Maybe she wanted her bike and resisted, and one of them snatched her off a bike."

mom was raising those 5 kids..dad had not been in touch with his kids since the divorce, what, 7 yrs ago?  Autumn and siblings did not live with mom. why? she was a little girl...She lived with her siblings with dad and his girlfriend and her children!  goodness, where do these kids find structure and their place in the family? and it is not just this family, it is happening all around you and me. The 15 and 17 year old brothers lured Autumn to their home because they wanted her BMX bike for parts. The boys' mother turned them in when she saw suspicious posts on their Facebook pages. The boys strangled Autumn and dumped her into a recycling bin.

SEARCHERS returned from the forests and fields in and around Clayton, N.J., Sunday night, their voices hoarse from calling out the name of missing Autumn Pasquale, and those who loved her the most huddled close together, holding fast to hope.

Meanwhile, at 8:16 p.m., a 15-year-old Clayton boy logged onto Facebook and, along with nearly 17,000 other people across the country, clicked "Like" on the FIND AUTUMN PASQUALE page.

But authorities say Justin Robinson knew exactly where Pasquale was because he allegedly lured her to his home on East Clayton Avenue on Saturday afternoon and then beat and strangled the seventh-grader with the help of his brother, Dante Robinson, 17, before they stuffed her into a blue recycling container.

A break in the case came when the boys' mother alerted investigators to a Facebook post on one of her sons' accounts, Dalton said. He declined to say what the post was, or which suspect had made it. It was unclear Tuesday whether Dante Robinson had a Facebook page, and his brother's posts didn't appear to mention anything alarming in recent days.

"Might be moving," Justin wrote Sunday, adding a sad-face emoticon to the message.

On Tuesday, family and friends were posting on Justin Robinson's wall, saying they loved him and were thinking of him. Some asked him to pray for forgiveness.

"I love you so much little brother," the boys' older brother, Michael, wrote to Justin.

Autumn Pasquale also had an older brother, and he vented frustration on Justin Robinson's Facebook page not long after the news conference.

Teen Brothers Charged in Death of NJ Girl
Two teenage brothers have been arrested and charged in the death of 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale.

 During their investigation, the mother of the teens contacted police regarding postings on the Facebook account of one of the suspects, according to officials.

"That gave her the idea that her kids had done it," said one woman. "She said she did the right thing by turning them in. She said her heart goes out to the family more than to her boys right now."

Clayton teenagers know the identity of the teen suspects and claim the 15-year-old suspect "liked" a "Find Autumn" page on Facebook. On Sunday the suspect also commented on a Facebook status from Autumn's brother stating that bloodhounds were searching for the girl, writing "that's good."

The 15-year-old, who played football and was involved in the ROTC at Clayton high school, also attended the Monday night vigil for Autumn, hours before his ultimate arrest.

"How could you have the nerve?" asked Dana Halter. "To have no respect at all. As if you didn't do it."

"He was standing right behind me and laughing, smirking about everything while people were sitting there crying," said one Clayton resident.

Many in the community want the brothers tried as adults.

All morning, people gathered behind the police tape that surrounded the small, cream-colored Cape Cod where the Robinson brothers lived. Neighbors said that police often had been called to the house and that the boys were known for stealing bicycles.

"They just take bikes and take them apart," said Clayton High School student Jodie Robinson, who is unrelated but friendly with the family.

A family member of Autumn Pasquale's who asked not to be identified said complaints had been made to police as recently as Saturday that stolen bikes were at the boys' house. Dalton declined to comment on bike thefts in the neighborhood.

A source familiar with the Pasquale family said that Autumn, a BMX bike enthusiast, brought bicycle rims to the Robinson home on Saturday. Back in August, Autumn "liked" a picture of a BMX bike on Justin's Facebook page.

It was not immediately clear who else lived at the Robinson home. Some neighbors said the boys' mother had moved out, but others said she still lived there and ran a hair salon in the basement. Autumn Leigh Pasquale on Monday, October 22, 2012. Age 12. Daughter of Anthony Michael Pasquale (girlfriend Cheryl Evans) and Jennifer Anne (nee Reilly) Cornwell (husband Gregory F. Cornwell). Sister of Anthony Jr. “AJ” and Natalie Pasquale. Step-sister of Jacquelyn Flores and Casey Cornwell. Granddaughter of Michael & Donna Reilly and Anthony & Mary Pasquale. Born in Voorhees, Autumn was a life-long resident of Clayton. She was a Seventh Grader at the Clayton Middle School where she was a Straight-A student. Autumn was a tom-boy, definitely not a girlie-girl. She danced and did cheerleading before becoming active in soccer and softball for the Clayton youth teams. Autumn liked to draw and was a fan of the Phillies. She had many, many friends and was known for wearing mismatched socks and loved the color blue.

Facebook reveals suspect invited Autumn Pasquale to his home days before killing

Days before the disappearance of Autumn Pasquale, one of the two boys charged with killing the 12-year-old suggested she come over to see a BMX bike, according to a Facebook exchange.
 
“Is that ur bike?” she asked.
 
“Yeupp,” he replied.
 
“Thts sexy!” she said.
 
When another friend jumped into the online conversation, saying, “no its not,” the teen immediately responded: “yes. cme 2 my house.”
 
The newspaper obtained the posts from neighbors who asked not to be identified. The Facebook page is no longer publicly accessible. A spokesman for the Pasquale family said he was aware of the comments as described by a reporter.
 
The postings appeared to have occurred days before Pasquale went missing.

Something struck Toni Fiorella whenever she would see a mother from her hometown drop two teenage sons off at the laundromat to do the family's wash. She didn't know them by name, but they were always respectful. Their mother must be on to something, Fiorella thought.

"It's good," she said. "She's making them responsible."

Now, authorities say, those same boys are accused of killing a 12-year-old neighborhood girl and stuffing her body into a recycling bin near their home. Authorities say she was lured with the promise of new parts for the beloved bicycle she was riding before she disappeared.

Deputy Public Defender Jeffrey Wintner said his office was representing both defendants, though a private attorney had been assigned to handle one of the cases. He said the office would have no comment.

People who know the boys say the younger suspect is a sophomore at Clayton High School and has been on the wrestling team. The older boy, they say, attends Bankbridge Developmental Center in Sewell, a school for students with social, behavioral and academic problems. He was seen outside the family's home less often, neighbors say.

Beverly Davis said she went to school with Autumn's father and the suspects' mother.

"We are not surprised by who the suspects were," Davis said. "We're not surprised at all. They're not always on the right side of the law."

Davis said one boy stole one of her children's bikes. And the boys' father told the Star-Ledger newspaper of Newark that their sons were known for stealing bikes, and that one son had previously been charged with theft.

Naomi Sampson, 76, said that her family has had a home for a century half a block from the boys' home _ and that the boys' family has lived there about as long. She saw the boys grow up, she said.

"We know they're troubled," she said.

Pasquale search was ‘botched,’ family says

Four days before Autumn Pasquale disappeared, one of the teenage brothers charged with killing her invited the 12-year-old girl to his house to look at a bicycle.

In a Facebook exchange on Oct. 16, Autumn, a BMX enthusiast, expressed interest in a photo of the bicycle Justin Robinson, 15, had posted on his Facebook page two months earlier.

"Thts sexy!" Autumn wrote.

According to a screen grab of the exchange, Justin wrote, "yess cme 2 my house." He also claimed to have a receipt for the bike from an area store.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, Autumn set off on her bike from her house in Clayton, never to be seen alive again.

As the chilling social-media exchange emerged Wednesday, a spokesman for Autumn's family blasted Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton's office, accusing it of being inept in organizing the search for the girl after she was reported missing.

"Right now there are so many things we think may have been wrong and done wrong that we would like to have the state attorney general come in and investigate," said Paul Spadafora, Autumn's great-uncle.

Prosecutor meets Autumn’s parents, vows justice

Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton met with the parents of slain 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale on Thursday, a day after the victim's family accused his office of bungling the search for the Clayton girl after she disappeared.

"We wanted to assure them justice would be done," Dalton said after the meeting clearly aimed at healing a rift that suddenly appeared between the grieving family and the man whose office will prosecute the two teenage brothers charged with murder in Autumn's death.

"We wanted to assure them we're moving forward, that we're 100 percent behind them in making sure justice is done," he told reporters. "We stand with them."

There was no immediate comment from Autumn's parents, Anthony Pasquale and Jennifer Cornwell.

The suspects - identified by townspeople as Justin Robinson, 15, and Dante Robinson, 17 - are due in court Friday for a juvenile detention hearing.

 Autumn Pasquale’s family hires attorney for parents and step-parents

WHEN AUTUMN Leigh Pasquale's family faces her accused killers for the first time Friday morning, they'll have their own attorney there to guide them.

Jaime Kaigh, a former assistant prosecutor in Camden and Cumberland counties, said he was retained by Pasquale's parents, Anthony Pasquale and Jennifer Cornwell, along with their spouses on Thursday.

Kaigh, a longtime criminal-defense lawyer based in Westmont, Camden County, said he would handle all media calls for the family and would help guide them through the proceedings for Justin Robinson, 15, and his brother, Dante Robinson, 17, the Clayton brothers accused of beating and strangling the 12-year-old over a bicycle.

"The family thanks the entire community for their outpouring of support, but would like to have their privacy respected at this time," Kaigh said.

Kaigh, 54, said he met with Pasquale's parents Thursday afternoon to talk about the Robinsons' detention hearing Friday morning. Kaigh is not representing Pasquale's uncle Paul Spadafora, who has acted as a family spokesman since she went missing Saturday.

I'm still shaking my head  over two young men luring and murdering a girl for bike parts.    Autumn's life was worth what to them?  Used bike parts?!  And after taking her bike and her life, they weren't even careful to hide things.  Did they not realize consequences? Accused teen killers of Autumn Pasquale due in court

Two teen brothers charged in the killing of Autumn Pasquale of Clayton are due in court today as public interest runs in the aftermath of her death and accusations by her family that authorities botched the search when she went missing.

The scheduled 11 a.m. hearing for the boys - identified by neighbors as Dante Robinson, 17, and Justin Robinson, 15 - is expected to determine whether they should remain in a juvenile detention facility.

Family of slain NJ girl backs off search criticism

Two teenage brothers accused of killing a 12-year-old girl in southern New Jersey were to have their first court appearance as the girl's family backed away from accusations that authorities failed to act quickly enough once she was reported missing.

Friday's court hearing was to determine whether the brothers should remain in a juvenile detention facility. Because it's in family court, the hearing is closed to the public and media, but some media organizations have filed a motion to have it opened.

Teen suspects in Autumn Pasquale's murder kept in juvenile court

Three days after Donte Robinson, 17, and his brother Justin Robinson, 15, were charged with murder in connection with 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale's death, the teens made their first appearance before Judge Colleen Maier at the Family Division of Gloucester County Superior Court in Woodbury.


Maier determined at the detention hearing on Friday morning, which was closed to the public and media, that the teen boys should remain detained in the Camden County Youth Center, which is where they've been kept since they were arrested on Tuesday.

Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton has said he is strongly considering charging the teens as adults instead of juveniles. The Prosecutor's Office has 30 days from the incident to file a waiver to have them tried as adults, according to Assistant Prosector Michelle Jeneby.

The teens will have a third detention hearing on Nov. 16 at 11 a.m., Jeneby said.

Anthony Pasquale, Autumn's father, clutched a teddy bear to his chest as he entered the courthouse, accompanied by family.

Mom of teens charged in girl’s slaying speaks out

CLAYTON (AP) — The mother of two teenage brothers accused of killing a 12-year-old New Jersey girl is speaking out about those people who she believes have cast judgment on her family.

It was reported that Anita Saunders made the comments in a public message posted Saturday on her Facebook account. She said “its times like this when u see who are genuine, who is not.”

Autumn Pasquale: murdered 12-year-old laid to rest in New Jersey

Autumn Pasquale is the 12-year-old girl who went missing in Clayton, New Jersey last week. After speculations of an abduction, her body was found in a recycling bin a few houses away from the house she lived in. According to ABCNews, on October 28, 2012 Autumn has been laid to rest in peace.

Hundreds of family and friends gathered at Our Lady of Lourdes Church for the young girl's funeral. Pasquale is believed to have been murdered by two teenage boys who lured her into their home and strangled the girl to death.

Divorced parents in legal battle over Autumn Pasquale's gravestone

Three months after a 12-year-old New Jersey girl was killed, her divorced parents are in a court battle over control of a memorial fund and headstone for the girl's grave.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday is the latest publicly visible fissure in the family after Autumn Pasquale's disappearance that, at first, united the couple and an entire community in a search for the girl, who went for a bike ride on Oct. 20 and was never seen alive again by her family.

Donations rolled in for a reward for an arrest in the case. After two teenage brothers were charged with murder, money came in for her funeral and other purposes. In all, donations totaled at least $100,000.

In the suit, the girl's mother, Jennifer Cornwell, says her ex-husband, Anthony Pasquale, took Cornwell's name off the memorial fund bank account that they had agreed to control together to pay for their daughter's funeral, legal expenses and help with the college education for their two surviving children. She also says her ex-husband has refused to consult her on what the girl's headstone should say.

Cornwell is asking a judge to split the memorial fund so that each parent can have partial control and to bar Pasquale from completing the headstone design without Cornwell's input.

About the only thing the lawyers for the parents agree on is how sad it is that the saga has come to this.

Court filings lay out acrimony between the girls' parents: Cornwell moved out in 2002 when her children were 4, 3, and 1 years old. Though the parents legally had joint custody, they spent most of their time living with their father. The couple were divorced in 2005, seven years after they married.

Cornwell says her ex-husband did not inform her that their middle daughter was missing until two hours after police were called on Oct. 20.

Pasquale says his ex-wife picked up items left at a funeral home by mourners without his permission. She contends he said it would be OK. He also says she was wrong to withhold money from a fundraiser from the fund. She says the money — a $15,500 check plus unspecified cash — is in a safe-deposit box where she placed it after learning she no longer had control of the bank account.

The tort claim notice, which informs government agencies of a possible future lawsuit, was filed by attorney Gregg Zeff on Jan. 22 on behalf of Autumn’s father Anthony Pasquale.

The notice is copied to the New Jersey State Police, the state park police, and municipal governments of Clayton, Glassboro, Burlington, and Monroe, Franklin and Elk townships, according to the tort claim obtained by the Times.

While the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office plans to “vigorously defend” itself against any forthcoming claims, the transfer to Camden County continues.

“It’s a couple of boxes of discovery from the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office we received,” said Jason Laughlin, Camden County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman. “It’s our case.”

Currently, Camden County’s juvenile unit is working to catch up on the case alongside the county’s homicide unit.

They’re reading through the files, reviewing the crime scene photos and audio interviews. Laughlin expects the county’s victim-witness unit and the new prosecutor to meet with Autumn’s family members.

“The only thing changing is that the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office is not involved,” Laughlin said.

The Gloucester County courtroom — and its rules — remain the same.

Family Division Superior Court Judge Colleen Maier, seated in Woodbury, ruled last year to close any court proceedings related to the juveniles Donte Robinson, 17, and his brother Justin, 15, charged with Autumn’s murder. All parties related to the juvenile case are prohibited from discussing it.

Before the hand-off, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office did request the brothers be waived to adult court. Camden County’s prosecuting team, headed by Timothy Chatten, plan “to follow the waiver request through,” Laughlin said. The Attorney General’s Office has ordained Chatten a “special deputy attorney general,” which allows him to prosecute across county lines.

“If the case ends up being waived up, (Camden County’s) homicide unit would take over,” Laughlin said.

If the brothers are waived to adult court, all hearings will be open to the public and the press.

(CBS/AP) WOODBURY, N.J. - The Autumn Pasquale murder case has been transferred to Camden, N.J., after the slain 12-year-old's father filed documents threatening a possible lawsuit against the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office over alleging mishandling of the case, the South Jersey Times reports.
The paper reports the case against two teens accused of murdering the girl was transferred after attorney Gregg Zeff filed a tort claim notice on Jan. 22 informing the agency of potential litigation on behalf of Anthony Pasquale.

The tort claim, according to the paper, is copied to the New Jersey State Police, the state park police, and municipal governments of Clayton and several neighboring townships.

According to the paper, "The claim 'is predicated as a result of misconduct, violation of Civil Rights, State protected rights, negligence, infliction of emotional distress, improper training, improper supervision, failure to protect and failure to follow proper laws, regulations and guidelines' related to the search for Autumn and her murder investigation."

The case was transferred to Camden County to avoid a "potential conflict," according to a statement from the Glouster County Prosecutor's office that was obtained by the paper.

Gannon, a former mayor, has a compact "Autumn's Light" banner on her front lawn. Like those displayed elsewhere around town and on the grave, the blue-and-white banner carries the address for "the Official Family Website" autumnpasquale.com, where more than 50 condolences have been posted.

People are still posting on five Facebook pages dedicated to the girl's memory; the portion of the county cycling trail that runs through the borough has been renamed for her; and Clayton will observe "Autumn Pasquale Day" on Oct. 29 - which would have been her 14th birthday.

Dante Robinson, initially charged in the death of Autumn Pasquale, was released from a youth correctional facility Tuesday, according to sources close to the case.

In afternoon court proceedings, Dante, of Clayton, pleaded to fourth-degree obstruction in Family Division Superior Court Judge Colleen Maier’s courtroom. The teen, who has been in the Camden County Youth Correction Facility since last fall, was sentenced to six months in jail and released with time served, according to a confidential source.

“Dante Robinson was released from custody today. He admitted no crime,” said Chris Hoffner, the teen’s attorney on behalf of the family. “This confirms what we always knew. Dante did not hurt the decedent and was not involved in her death or the moving of her body. People may not want to believe it, but the truth prevailed today, and Dante is home.”

Dante and his brother Justin Robinson were 17 and 15 last October when arrested and charged in juvenile court with the girl’s killing.

Autumn’s disappearance in late October prompted a massive days-long search through Clayton and surrounding communities. Two days after she went missing, her remains were found in a blue recycling bin on an abandoned property next door to the Robinsons' East Clayton Avenue home. The brothers were charged in her death.

Last month Justin Robinson, now 16, pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter after taking sole responsibility for luring the pre-teen to his house and strangling her.

He was sentenced on Sept. 12 to serve 17 years in state prison of which 85 percent, or about 14 years, must be served before he is eligible for parole.
