SAGINAW (CBSDFW.COM) - The Saginaw girl, whose nude body was found bound and covered with a tarp, has been identified as six-year-old Alanna Gallagher, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner. Her time of death is listed as 7:33 p.m., not long before neighborhood kids found her body. The six-year-old had just celebrated a birthday on June 12, less than three weeks before she was murdered.

Gallagher was found at the intersection of Cindy Ln. and Round Rock Dr. at about 7:30 p.m. Monday. The discovery site was more than one mile north of the victim's home on Babbling Brook Dr., where parents reported their daughter missing at about 9 p.m. that evening.
Investigators are still searching for a red pickup truck spotted by witnesses near the scene. Witnesses told police the truck had a green paint splatter on the right rear panel. During an afternoon press conference Wednesday, Ing said investigators were not sure whether Gallagher was intentionally placed in the roadway or if she fell out of the truck.

On Wednesday, an FBI receipt viewed by WFAA revealed investigators confiscated plastic bags, various colored tapes and tarp to help the probe into Gallagher's death. The list was written onto an FBI search warrant receipt visible on the front seat of a car registered to the owner of the home where the victim lived. A partial list of items taken included:

Some residents said they aren't exactly sure what to think about the investigation: On one hand, Saginaw police spokesman Ofc. Damon Ing said at a press conference Wednesday that investigators believe the case is "isolated" and stressed the public shouldn't be worried.
But they also say the Gallagher family aren't suspects, and close to 40 investigators spent part of their July 4 holiday working the case. There also is a $10,000 reward in place for information that leads to an arrest and prosecution.
Earlier in the week, FBI investigators thoroughly examined the Gallagher family home.
Karl Gallagher, who identified himself as Alanna's father, told News 8 on Wednesday that the family wants privacy.
He wouldn't discuss what kinds of questions investigators were asking of them, nor would he talk about the circumstances surrounding the young girl's disappearance and murder within a few hour span on Monday. She was reported missing at about 9 p.m., about two hours after her body was found.
The memorial site grew over the day Thursday, with some 250-plus stuffed animals and condolence notes placed along Roundrock Drive where her body was found. Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the police tip line at either 682.888.3682 or 682.888.3684.

Someone killed the six-year-old and dumped her body wrapped in a tarp in a neighborhood intersection. Two teens found her on Roundrock Drive and Cindy Lane Monday night.

Her family told police she was last seen playing outside.

Rachel Monk from Saginaw is taking that fear and turning it into action.

"This has got to stop," Monk said. "We can't keep losing our children to predators like this."

She is urging families and businesses across the city to wear purple in honor of Alanna. It was the girl's favorite color.

"By the end of next week, I want to see everybody in Saginaw with a purple ribbon," Monk said.

Several businesses are already participating in the effort.

As for Monk, she plans to spend the weekend trying ribbons around light poles in her neighborhood. She is also wearing a purple shirt to work.

She hopes the campaign sends a message of hope and healing.

"We are never going to forget you [Alanna,]" Monk said. "We are are never going to forget what happened. You are in our hearts."

Police continue to receive tips on the case, but no one has been arrested. Investigators say the family is not suspected, and believe the case will be an isolated incident.

News 8 has learned detectives are reviewing video surveillance from home and businesses in the area.

Police have questioned the girl's parents and family and so far do not think they are involved.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from homes near where her body was found. They hope to catch a few frames of that red truck with a splotch of green paint a witness saw leaving the scene.

Residents hope an arrest happens soon.

"It does worry me for everyone involved and I just hope that for the family, for the investigators and for the whole entire community that we can find peace and that we can find someone that did this," said Holly Anders.

Investigators say this investigation will become a lot clearer after the medical examiner determines the cause of death. Many families in the neighborhood are on vacation so investigators have to wait until they get back to ask to see their video.

The body of six-year-old Alanna Gallagher was found, hands and feet bound and almost naked, under a tarpaulin, about a mile and a half from their family home in the suburb of Saginaw, near Fort Worth, Texas.

As the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) join the investigation Gallagher’s father, Karl, is pleading with the public for help in finding those who abducted his daughter from in front of their suburban home and killed her.

Police are currently looking for a red pickup truck, with a green splotch, that was seen in the area when the body was found by a group of teens.

Alanna was abducted on Monday evening as she played outside the family home. Neighbors said it was not unusual to see the little girl riding her scooter up and down the quiet street. Her family, including her mother, father, two siblings and another man who lives with the family, were all at home at the time of the abduction.

Her body was found at 7.30pm that evening.

Karl Gallagher did not report her missing for two hours after that

Speaking about the murdered child John Janus, a neighbor, told the Forth Worth Star-Telegram “She seemed smarter than the average (child her age), just because of the questions she’d always ask.

“And her parents are nice and very, very smart people. They like books. The last time I was in their home, the front room looked like a library.”

CBS) SAGINAW, Texas - Police in Saginaw, Texas say a makeshift memorial set up to honor Alanna Gallagher, a 6-year-old child found murdered earlier this month, was set on fire overnight. According to CBS DFW, the family's car was also torched.

The station reports that Ing says the fire was clearly intentional, but it is unclear whether the person(s) responsible have any connection to the girl's murder.

Welcome and hello again. My apologies if my post are not appropriate or allowed. I just found this information to be IMO very disturbing though I am trying not to be judgmental. Though, I find myself with lots of negative thoughts regarding the family. 

I would assume arm and leg restraints were anything that could possibly be used as such?   ¯\_(ツ)_/  And I agree,, the toilet paper thing was quite odd to me too. I hope forensics come back quickly on all of this. The more I read, the weirder it gets

Also, in the search warrant there were pool/spa chemicals seized and (I forget) something wet in a "Abertsons" bag...

I went back and it is a "wet swimsuit in a Albertsons bag"

As well as a hot tub cover and in one of the vehicles "a female condom"....? What is a female condom?

Yeah, definitely odd...I just wonder why they have the restraints?  Maybe a roll of toilet paper was found with her and they are trying to match them with a lot number?  Same with the plastic bags and such.  Yeah, I also saw the wet swim suit and spa water sample...it says a lot about what they found...but, also leaves tons of questions.  I, too, have a lot of suspicions...but, I don't want to voice them until I know more.  I hope results come back quickly too.

This case has been strange from the very beginning.  As I live about 25 miles from Saginaw we were flooded with news reports in the beginning, some very conflicting others just strange!

Had not heard there were other children in the home until I read her bio (thankyou Cartfly).

During the initial search for Alanna when the media questioned the neighbors they didn't seem to know much about the family.  They said Alanna seemed like a sweet girl and spent most of her time outside riding up and down the street on her scooter by herself.  One neighbor said that when she would be at her house playing with her daughter they would tell her it was time to go home for dinner and Alanna would start crying and beg them to let her stay there she didn't want to go home.  Sounded as though this was an on-going problem???

Not being judgemental as the interviews I've seen with the "fathers" & recently the mother they seem to be very quiet, educated people and heard nothing during the interviews that "rang any bells", just their strange living arrangements seems to tweek an interest for many.

Thanks for the additional information. I have been reading the Mom's blog and haven't read anything that really stood out. There were some oddities, but for the most part she seems to be an well educated woman and there are many post regarding the children. From what I gathered, there is an older sister and brother about 4-5 years older than Alanna.

 I located the Facebook pages of all three parents and again didn't find anything weird. But I did see on one of the Dad's FB he is listed as "Karl Gallagher" but in parenthesis is the name "Karl Otto Dishaw". I thought that was sort of odd, but that's just me. I have only seen that when a woman list her maiden name....

I agree that the parents living arrangement is not what we normally see in the typical family.


The interviews don't set off any flags per se for me either. I tend to scrutinize the family in these cases too much. But I am starting to think she was a victim of opportunity by some unknown perp or perhaps there was some kind of accident involving the spa and someone panicked. I just can't get past LE saying it was an isolated incident.....

If the timeline that was originally reported is true, that she had only been missing for 25 minutes when her body was dumped on the street it sounds as though it must have been planned rather than say a sex crime?  Not much leeway in that window of opportunity!

She was reportedly wrapped and tied up etc., which leaves very little time for much else and as you said Cartfly, LE calling it an isolated incident seems really hinky.  It may have been said to calm the neighborhood but usually when LE makes this sort of statement they have a fairly good idea of who and why!

An officer has been shot while serving an arrest warrant for a teen suspected of the murder of Alanna Gallagher.

Law enforcement sources tell NBC 5 police went to the home of Tyler Holder, a teenager who lives a few houses down from Alanna Gallagher.

An officer was serving an arrest warrant to arrest Holder after DNA evidence came back linking him to her murder. The officer was also serving a search warrant as well.

Law enforcement sources say Holder came to the front door with a gun in his waistband, pulled it out, and opened fire at the officer

SAGINAW - An Arlington officer was among two reported shot as a warrant was served at the home of a teenager whose DNA matched that taken from the crime scene in the investigation into the death of 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher, sources said.

The shooting took place at about 9 a.m. Tuesday, when FBI and local law enforcement were serving search and arrest warrants at the home of 17-year-old Tyler Holder, authorities said. Sources close to the investigation say lab tests showed that DNA found at the crime scene matched that of the teenager, who lives at the home two houses down from the Gallaghers in the 600 block of Babbling Brook Dr.

Holder and an Arlington officer assigned to the FBI task force were identified as the two injured. Several sources say the officer suffered a non-life-threatening injury to the leg and Holder suffered a critical wound to the head.

TARRANT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – CBS 11 News has confirmed a North Texas law enforcement official has been shot.

The officer and at least one other person were both shot in a residential neighborhood in Saginaw. The location of the shooting is just a few doors from the home of the 6-year-old girl found murdered earlier this month.

Saginaw Police Officer Damon Ing said, “We did initiate a search warrant here on Babbling Brook, in the furtherance of the investigation of the Alanna Gallagher murder. I am regretful to report that at this time we do have an officer down.”

Apparently officers from several North Texas police departments went to serve the warrant. The officer, whose name hasn’t been released, but is a member of the Arlington Police Department and part of an FBI task force investigating the Gallagher murder, was transported to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. From the scene CBS 11 News reporter Elizabeth Dinh ‏said the officer was shot in the upper leg and is in critical condition.

Another person, who CBS 11 sources say is 17-year-old Tyler Holder, who MedStar workers said was as reportedly shot in the head and taken to John Peter Smith Hospital. The teen is also said to be in critical condition. Sources say the boy was linked to the Gallagher murder case by DNA.

North Texas resident Yolanda Sierra has paid close attention to the Alanna Gallagher case since the little girl’s body was found. Sierra even attended Alanna’s memorial and after seeing a picture of Holder said she saw him at the funeral, wearing t-shirt that said “wanted.” Sierra said she doesn’t know the teen but remembered him because she noticed his clothing and  felt it was inappropriate for the event.

CBS 11 News reporter Arezow Doost says investigators were at the Holder home several days after Alanna’s body was found. Officers reportedly confiscated several items believed related to the murder case. Arezow also spoke with Alanna’s grandmother, Linda McDaniel, Tuesday morning. The woman said the family had been suspicious of Holder. McDaniel said her family is praying that Holder lives, because of he did kill Alanna she wants to ask him why.

A neighbor on Babbling Brook Drive told CBS 11 she heard three shots fired around 8:45 a.m.

Officer, Suspect Shot While Serving Warrant for Gallagher Murder

A law enforcement source told NBC DFW that police went to the home of Tyler Holder, 17-year-old neighbor, because DNA evidence linked him to Gallagher's slaying.

The home is in the 600 block of Babbling Brook Drive in Saginaw, a couple of houses away from Gallagher's home.

Holder came to the front door with a gun in his waistband, pulled it out and opened fire at the officers, a law enforcement source said.

Arlington police Detective Charles Lodatto, who was assignment with the FBI task force investigating Gallagher's slaying, was shot in the groin. The bullet divided his femoral artery, doctors said later Tuesday.

Gallagher was found wrapped in a tarp with plastic grocery sacks taped over her head with duct tape. The warrant also states the 6-year-old was sexually assaulted.

NBC DFW has chosen not to reveal further details about the assault because of its graphic nature.

According to the warrant, Holder was seen pacing "up and down the sidewalk" when Gallagher's body was found.

Neighbors in the area told officers that Holder told them the body recovered was Alanna Gallagher before the victim had been identified.

SAGINAW -- Officers serving a search warrant at the home of 17-year-old capital murder and attempted capital murder suspect Tyler Holder took a letter addressed to "Mom," red duct tape, condoms, belts, and toilet paper among 153 total items according to the receipt for property seized by the FBI, obtained by News 8.

Holder was shot in the head Tuesday morning after he shot an Arlington detective serving an arrest warrant for capital murder in the case of Saginaw six-year-old Alanna Gallagher, who lived two houses down from Holder in the 600 block of Babbling Brook Drive.

The arrest warrant, obtained by News 8 earlier this week, said Gallagher was sexually assaulted and suffocated before her body, wrapped in a tarp, was dumped in the street less than a mile from her home.

The wounded detective, Charles Lodatto, was moved out of intensive care Thursday. Authorities last said Holder remained in serious condition.

Prayers for peace and comfort for all who loved this precious little girl.

I'm absolutely devastated for sweet Alanna and her family.  I just cannot believe the monsters that could be in our neighborhoods.  I hope that this will force parents to take a deeper look at their teens and in their teens room...for goodness sakes.  Did you all see what all they found in there?  I don't have a link right now...or I would post it.  I realize that she is a single mom and who knows what her schedule is or how many jobs she may have...I am a single mom of three...and have two jobs...and tutor on the side.  I still make time to go through my teens phone and facebook...I know who their friends are...I know what they do...what they look up on Google...I'm THAT Mom.  But, that's okay.  It gets on their nerves...but, it also keeps them out of trouble.  I am by no means blaming her...because I do not know the situation that she was in.  Maybe she feared him.  Maybe he hid it really well.  Who knows. 

I am so thankful that I held off on my original thoughts in this case.  I didn't have bad vibes about the family...I just didn't understand a few things.  Now I do.  I think that it was Bearlythere (am I remembering that correctly?) that shared their experience of posting stuff too soon...and the outcome of that...and what was learned from it.  I am so thankful for that post, because it really reminds me to hold off on speculation in cases like this.  How devastating that must be to read online...

About a week after he was shot by a man suspected of raping and killing a 6-year-old Saginaw girl, Arlington police detective Charles Lodatto was released from the hospital.
 
Lodatto left the hospital around noon Monday, Arlington police spokeswoman Tiara Richard said. He will continue to recover at home.

On Wednesday, Holder was released from John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and was booked into the Tarrant County Jail on charges of capital murder and attempted capital murder.
In his booking photo, a bandage can be plainly seen on Holder's throat.
A spokesman for the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that Holder was shot under the chin during a brief gun battle with officers.

School plans permanent memorial for slain Saginaw girl

SAGINAW –– Police and school officials in Saginaw are drawing up extensive plans for a memorial site at Willow Creek Elementary School to honor the life of 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher, who was kidnapped and murdered this summer.
The school is now jumping behind the plan to build a "living" memorial, which will remember the little girl and serve as a place for children to learn outside.

The design is the handwork of David Carter, a former Saginaw police officer, and others from the Specialists Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club.

The plan is to soon start building a structure on the west side of the school. It will consist of a semi-circle of stone with two levels of carved seating that will stretch around an engraving on a stone for Alanna.
The Gallagher family will select the engraving. The hope is for the area to be frequently used as a place for both reflection and also for instruction in an outside environment.

A fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday night to help raise money for the $25,000 project. Carter stressed that materials and manpower time will be donated, so neither the school or the family will have to pay a dime.
 
The event is scheduled for this Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at 1112 NE 29th Street in Fort Worth at the MC Clubhouse. There will be music from a local classic rock band and $10 donations will be accepted at the door.
The hope is to break ground on the project with the next two months. Tyler Holder, 17, is charged in her death. He's also charged with attempted murder for shooting an officer who was attempting to arrest him. Holder remains jailed in Tarrant County on a $1 million bond.

SAGINAW — A little girl's murder shocked and saddened this Tarrant County community. Now, Saginaw residents are coming together, hoping to raise money to build a memorial honoring six-year-old Alanna Gallagher.
On Sunday afternoon, there was a fundraising drive at Willow Creek Park.

The project could cost upwards of $25,000, so moms in the community are gathering to try and get as much money as possible. Around $3,000 has been raised through donations. Other money has been pledged.

They set up in the courtyard on the west side of the school and started shoveling soil, barrel by barrel. They were breaking ground on a project that they hope will heal the hearts that broke when 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher, who attended school here, was found dead.

The learning center memorial being built in Alanna's honor by the Specialists Motorcycle Club will include a gazebo and a stone engraved with phrases from the her favorite books. The project also includes a special feature that, when the sun hits it, it will cast a shadow of a little girl with a net chasing butterflies.
“We have dreams that we chase,” said David Carter, the project’s architect. “I think for Alanna, she never had that opportunity to go on with her dreams. Here spiritually, she will be chasing her dreams.”
Alanna's classroom will be feet away from the memorial. Her brother's is, too. The project scheduled to be completed this Thanksgiving is a gift for the entire family.

An outdoor learning center will be built in memory of a 6-year-old Saginaw girl who was raped and slain near her home in July.
 
A local chapter of Specialists Motorcycle Club raised funds to build the memorial, and the group broke ground last week on the west side of Willow Creek Elementary School, where Alanna was a student.
 
The memorial will include a gazebo featuring an engraving from one of Alanna’s favorite Dr. Seuss books. There will also be a cutout silhouette of a girl with a butterfly net in her hand, said Specialists Motorcycle Club president David Carter.
 
“This way it becomes a living memorial to Alanna,” he said.

The 6-year-old girl from Saginaw who was murdered last summer is being remembered with a granite and gazebo tribute outside her school. Friday, a special stone was set in place, marking a milestone for volunteers.

Alanna was murdered last summer. The 6-year-old's death broke her community's collective heart.

"We didn't really know her, but we know how it feels," explained sixth grader Cole Loar about why he was helping out on the building process. His father is in the motorcycle club.

And Friday, that club hit a milestone.

It took seven grown men to carry a 1,000-pound memorial stone that sits in the very center of a gazebo. They carefully lifted it from a truck and walked it into place, taking great care to ease it to the ground. It is truly the centerpiece of a stunning memorial to Alanna, just outside her classroom at Willow Creek Elementary in Saginaw.

"Brings to light we're close to having it turned over fully and having it ready to hand over to the Gallagher family," said David Carter, of the motorcycle club. Carter designed the memorial. "Milestone day for us, for sure."

The memorial faces west for a number of reasons, Carter said. The metal gazebo will have a special feature, so when the sun hits a certain way, an image of a little girl chasing butterflies will appear on the memorial stone. There is a pathway leading to it with an "A" and a "G" spelled out in flowers. The stone is round. Granite steps surround the back half of it.

"It's kind of the circle of life," Carter said. "Children can climb on it and enjoy it. They can let loose."

Carter said members of the Specialists Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club all have some tie to protecting and saving lives.

"Everybody pitches in and pulls their weight, and makes it a great group of men," he said.

Several are daddies with daughters.

"You start looking at your girls and 'Man, that could've been my daughter at any time -- this [could have] happened," said Mark Enriquez, a father of five girls.

Carter said Alanna's family chose the inscription on the stone. It is a powerful quote from Dr. Seuss that reads, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

An official dedication of the memorial is expected in March.

A North Texas teenager has pleaded guilty to multiple charges connected to the murder of a 6-year-old Saginaw girl.

According to court records, Tyler Holder agreed to life in prison for killing Alanna Gallagher and 40 years for shooting an officer who served an arrest warrant at his house.

He also pleaded guilty to arson for setting a car on fire in front of the Gallagher house.
