Search underway for missing Dundee mom

DUNDEE, OR (KPTV) -

A search is underway in Dundee for a missing mother. She went to run errands Thursday and never came home.

"We're over 48 hours at this point, where she's been missing," her husband, Kallen Huston, said.

He last saw his wife, Jennifer Huston, Thursday night when she left their Dundee neighborhood to run errands. Thirty minutes later, she swiped her debit card at the Circle K gas station on Portland Road in Newberg.

"That's the last that anyone saw of her," Huston said.

He said the 38-year-old mother of two wouldn't vanish on her own and that she would never leave her sons, who are 2 and 6 years old.

"Completely odd," Huston said. "Completely out of character for her, to just disappear like this."

Her family is papering neighborhoods and highways with her picture, driving around looking for her SUV and calling hospitals.

"You start calling anybody and everybody you can think of," Huston said.

Her father, Bill Turner, said wherever she is it's not by choice.

"She's not coming home because she can't come home," Turner said.

None of her family noticed anything out of the ordinary leading up to her disappearance. They're hoping for the best but fearing the worst.

Jennifer Huston drives a dark green 1999 Lexus LX 470 with Oregon license plate WXH 011.

She's 5'7" with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing black and pink Nike shoes and black yoga pants.

Anyone with information should call Dundee Police.

Dundee mom gases up Lexus, vanishes
Missing woman Jennifer Huston, 38, last seen at Newberg gas station
By KOIN 6 News staffPublished: July 26, 2014, 2:00 pm
Updated: July 26, 2014, 7:58 pm

DUNDEE, Ore. (KOIN 6) – Just over a week ago, the last time Julie McLellan saw her friend of seven years Jennifer Huston, they talked about wine tasting and Huston’s upcoming wedding anniversary.

Today, McLellan is canvassing the area near Dundee, Ore. in the hopes it will help find the dedicated stay-at-home mom, missing since Thursday.

“I still can’t believe I’ve got these flyers in my lap,” McLellan said. “There was nothing out of the ordinary at all.”

“She’s potty training our two year old, this is not something she would do.”

A search effort is underway to find mother of two Jennifer Huston, 38, who was last seen filling her Lexus SUV at the Circle K gas station at 3101 Portland Rd. in Newberg, Ore. at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, roughly four miles from Dundee. Since then, her phone has been off, McLellan said.

Huston is five-feet seven-inches, of average build with shoulder-length blonde hair and blue eyes.

She was last seen wearing black and pink Nike sneakers and black yoga pants. It is presumed she is with her car, a 1999 Lexus LX SUV with Oregon license plate WXH 011.

‘Something’s not right’

Huston’s husband, Kallen Huston, said when she didn’t return from running errands by 10:00 p.m. Thursday night, he knew something was wrong. He called her girlfriends to see if she was with them, and by 11:00 p.m., he was panicking.

“It’s very uncharacteristic of her, she’s a very regimented person, she sticks to a schedule,” said Kallen Huston.

“She’s potty training our two year old, this is not something she would do.” He said she has no history of mental illness.

“Some points in time I feel like I have control and we’re working together to get to an end result to find Jennifer but then other times I feel like I’m just going to lose it,” said Kallen Huston.

 ::snipping3::

There was no one more dependable, no one who loved their children or husband more than Huston, McLellan said.

“I just can’t imagine her leaving those two boys,” she said.

 ::snipping3::

Bill Turner, Huston’s father, said he is encouraged by the outpouring of support from friends and family. He said more than a thousand flyers have been printed and they’re on the verge of running out.

He, too, is convinced something out of the ordinary has happened.  “Her boys are her world, she would not leave them unattended,” he said.

Dundee mom missing for days, family searching for clues

Updated yesterday at 8:14 PM

DUNDEE, Ore. – A 38-year-old stay-at-home mom from Dundee went missing Thursday afternoon, leaving no clues as to where she might be, and her family is hoping the public can help locate her.

"We miss her very much," said husband Kallen Huston.  "My two boys really, really need her."

Jennifer Huston was last seen at a Circle K gas station in Newberg around 6 p.m. Since then, she hasn’t contacted her family and no credit card activity was recorded, police said.

Her father, Bill Turner, says there were no conflicts at home, and Huston would “never leave her boys. She is an amazing mom and woman.”

Huston, who has two sons, age 3 and 6, is a "doting mother," according to her sister-in-law Liberty Knerr.

"She is one of the strongest, most loving mothers you'll ever meet," Knerr said.

Huston's cell phone has been off since Thursday night, and detectives have tried to ping her phone hourly with no response.

The family has been driving roads and checking parks and hotels Huston might be at with no luck, Knerr said.

I hope they find here soon. Dundee isn't very big. Last census has it's population at about 3,100 people. It's about 30 minutes SW of Portland. There is only one big highway the 118 in & out of town. It's a rural area. She could be any where. Prayers for her, her family and loved ones. ::MonkeyAngel::

Huston left her husband and two boys on Thursday evening to run errands but never returned, says her father, Bill Turner.

Newberg-Dundee Police confirmed they were gathering details about Huston's whereabouts although it is not aware of any suspicious circumstances or foul play, spokesman Jeff Kosmicki told KATU on Saturday morning.

Police said there is no evidence of any crime, nor any reason to believe Huston disappeared under suspicious circumstances.

Even so, family members insist Huston would never leave on her own accord and are asking the public to help find her.

The family reviewed cell phone and bank records and said they found no activity beyond a small purchase at the gas station Thursday where she was running errands.

Huston's father said he also gained access to her email and Facebook accounts but was not able to find anything suspicious in the days leading up to her disappearance.

Huston's iPhone was turned off and not able to be tracked, said Turner, who said he tried using the locator feature included in the software but was not successful.

Newberg-Dundee Police were not responding to multiple calls for updates on Saturday.

"It's overwhelming. I truly appreciate what you are doing. Obviously I am an emotional wreck right now, but it warms my heart to see so many people trying," Kallen Huston Said.

While friends continue the search, Kallen is trying to keep things as normal as possible for his two young sons.

"Right now mommy is on vacation," Kallen said.

Kallen says his wife has no history of medical or mental health issues that could explain her disappearance.

He says aside from the normal pressures of raising two young boys everything was fine at home, and just can't imagine his wife leaving her family voluntarily.

"I can honestly and truly tell you even if there was something I wasn't aware about where there was something she wasn't happy with about me, with our relationship, she would never leave our boys. She's been gone three days now. There's no way she would leave," Kallen said.

DUNDEE -- The husband of the missing Dundee woman walked two blocks from his house Monday morning to give a statement in a neighborhood park where his two boys often play.

Kallen Huston was up early with two missions:  One was to spread the word to help locate his wife, Jennifer, who has been missing since she was last scene getting gas at a Newberg gas station on Thursday evening.

Kallen also was trying to protect his two boys, ages 2 and 6, from the grim news that their mother was missing.

He has told them that she "is on a vacation."
 ::snipping3::
At about 11 a.m., Huston and his sister, Liberty Knerr, walked down the street to the Falcon Crest Park where Kallen made a statement to reporters.

He said Dundee and Newberg police departments are coordinating the search for his wife, who is 38.

The past four days have been "overwhelming in good and bad ways," said Kallen Huston.

The good, he said, has been the tremedo0us support from friends, area residents and strangers who are committed to help find Jennifer.  The bad has been the "terror" of not knowing what happened.
 ::snipping3::
Huston said law enforcement authorities will be holding a briefing on the investigation at 4 p.m. Monday at the Newberg Police Department.  His short statement finished, Huston said it was time to "go back to my two boys."

He walked a up a hill to his home with a close friend named Eric Moss and Moss wrapped an arm around Huston's shoulder, pulling him close as they made their way back to the Huston home.

Investigators are poring over security footage from businesses along a Portland, Ore., highway Monday for any clues into the disappearance of 38-year-old Jennifer Huston, who was last seen four days ago buying gas, her father, Bill Turner, told FoxNews.com.

Turner said authorities have seized video from several businesses near the Circle K gas station in Newburg, where his daughter filled up her 15-year-old SUV on Thursday.

"A number of businesses up and down the highway have video that captures what happens on the road," Turner said. "They're looking for directional information."

[DUNDEE, Ore. – Photos captured from a gas station surveillance camera in Newberg show the last moment family members know about in the mysterious disappearance of a Dundee mom and wife.

Jennifer Huston, 38, used her credit card to purchase gas at the Newberg Circle K gas station around 6 p.m. Thursday. She has not contacted her family since then, and that was the last time her credit card was used, authorities said. (See three surveillance photos released)

Turner said Monday that a law enforcement plane searched for Jennifer or her car (like the one pictured below) for more than two hours Sunday and didn't turn up any clues. He added that a detective was looking at surveillance video from stores along Highway 99, between Newberg and Sherwood.

Hourly attempts to ping her cell phone have not turned up anything since Thursday evening, according to investigators.

Newberg-Dundee Police have obtained new video footage showing Jennifer Huston withdrawing cash from a local bank before heading to a 76 gas station in Newberg where she was last seen.

Huston, 38, has been missing since Thursday when she left her Dundee home to run errands, police said.

The new video shows Huston at a local bank just before 6 p.m. Police said the video shows that she was alone.

Ten minutes later, another video shows Huston at the gas station in her dark green Lexus LX-470, said Capt. Jeff Kosmicki, spokesman for Newberg-Dundee Police. The license plate number is WXH-011.

Shortly after Huston left the gas station, her cell phone stopped working, police said.

Before getting gas, Huston withdrew a small amount of money from a local bank, according to investigators.  Police did not say how much money she took out of the account.

According to a police timeline, Huston left home that day around 5:45 p.m., planning to run errands. She entered the bank around 6 p.m. and gassed up her SUV at 6:10 p.m.  Her phone stopped working at 6:25 p.m., according to investigators, and no one has heard of her since.

Police who studied the surveillance video said they were confident Jennifer was the only person in the vehicle when it pulled into the bank and the gas station.

I wonder if she ran off the road and her vehicle can't be seen?

I often think of it as possibility. We have a couple in our 'deceased' forum where that has been the case.

I was wondering about the possibility of her running off the road as well.  It seems odd, though, that her cell phone was turned off between 6:20-6:25.  Unless maybe the battery went dead?  But doesn't she have a car charger?

Very, very strange.

So everything happened withing an hour, from leaving home to cell phone being cut off? I don't know.

Even if she drove off the road her cell phone would not just stop. And if she got into a really bad accident and the car caught fire the smoke would have been obvious as she had just filled up at the gas station.

The police say that the are "confident Jennifer was the only person in the vehicle when it pulled into the bank and the gas station." I don't know, what if they were ducked down in the front or back seat with a gun? The back machine withdraw and gas up plays more like an abduction. Or, maybe she just wigged out and did a runaway bride.

Strange situation.

One would think that the family knew the errands she had to do and where she would be driving. Authorities could then go over the route and see if there were any signs of a car going off the road.

Hope they find her safe.

Police: Husband of missing Oregon woman Jennifer Huston passed polygraph

Police released a new surveillance image of Jennifer Huston taken Thursday night at a Rite-Aid in Newberg, Ore. (Photo: Dundee, Ore., police via KPTV/Portland)

DUNDEE, Ore. (KPTV) — Missing Oregon mom Jennifer Huston stopped at a Rite Aid drug store in Newberg, Ore., and purchased Gatorade, trail mix and a package of over-the-counter sleeping pills — a non-lethal dose — before she disappeared last week, police said Tuesday night.

Police released new details about the search for the married mother of two young boys.

Detectives said her husband, Kallen Huston, has been cooperative through the whole process, including multiple interviews, and he passed a polygraph test.

Investigators previously released a timeline of Jennifer Huston’s last known activities that included leaving her home last Thursday at 5:45 p.m., going to the Oregon First Community Credit Union in Newberg about three miles away and then to a nearby Circle K gas station on Portland Road.

Police said she spent less than $40 at the gas station, so they believe she was topping off the tank. She withdrew less than $100 from the credit union ATM.

Now, police said she also stopped at Rite Aid. Detectives released a surveillance image from that store of Jennifer Huston in hopes it will lead to additional clues in this case.

Officers said the amount of sleeping pills she purchased would not be enough for a lethal dose.

Police said the expected travel range of Jennifer Huston’s SUV on a full tank of gasoline would be 300 to 350 miles.

Detectives said she had several favorite places she would visit with her family within that range of Newberg, but did not elaborate on specific locations.

At a news conference Tuesday evening, police said there have been no confirmed sightings of Jennifer Huston since the night she disappeared.
 ::snipping3::
According to phone records, Jennifer Huston received a text message from her mother at 6:22 p.m. Thursday, but the phone stopped sending signals at 6:25 p.m.

Police said there remains no evidence of a crime in this investigation. Because police can’t prove she is endangered, they said it’s been difficult obtaining subpoenas related to the investigation.

Her husband told detectives that when he got home on Thursday, she seemed a little stressed out and needed time away from the house. He described that as not being unusual.

Police said if she is safe and doesn’t want to come home right now, they still hope she will reach out to let someone know.

The vigil was held for Jennifer Huston at the Hillside Fellowship multidenominational church in Newberg Tuesday night.

The Huston's don't worship there, but the church felt it important to provide a space for the public to gather and cope with the disappearance. Police said Huston was last seen while running errands last Thursday.

The event wasn't open to the media, but several who attended said Huston's parents also attended.

Ut-oh, Sleeping pills, full tank of gas and cell phone turned off …

Authorities in Oregon have released a surveillance video image of missing Jennifer Huston from the day that she went missing on July 24, 2014. The image is of Huston stopped at a Rite Aid drug store in Newberg, OR, and purchasing Gatorade, trail mix and a package of over-the-counter sleeping pills.

These are not good signs. The police have stated that the amount of sleeping pills she purchased would not be enough for a lethal dose. Also, the full tank of gas purchased by Jennifer Huston’s provides her with a 300 to 350 mile traveling range. Not to speculate, but I think the police may be looking at this in the wrong way. Sadly, sleeping pills, a full tank of gas and some one turning their cell phone off as all of the unfortunate signs of one attempting to contemplate suicide. The sleeping pills are not intended to be lethal, they are meant to make one drowsy as they run a car with a full tank of gas as carbon monoxide fumes enter the vehicle. The cell phone is turned off so not to be pinged and located. As per KPTV, according to phone records, Jennifer Huston received a text message from her mother at 6:22 p.m. Thursday, but the phone stopped sending signals at 6:25 p.m.

I hope I am very wrong and she is found safe and sound.

Meanwhile, Huston's family insisted she would never intentionally vanish from contact and continued their own searches.

A close friend of Huston's said she was preparing to celebrate her 10-year wedding anniversary with her husband, Kallen, which was coming up in the next week or two.

Huston's father, Bill Turner, said family and friends organized a search on Monday evening of the Willamette River.

Turner says they focused on areas Huston often spent time, including the banks along Champoeng State Park in Newberg.

Newberg detectives continued scouring the area for clues by asking businesses along Highway 99 all the way to Portland for their own surveillance footage, hoping to spot Huston's green SUV.

As of Tuesday afternoon, a spokesman for Newberg Police said detectives had not been able to identify Huston's SUV because the road was crowded with traffic.

Police also said they do not know if Huston stopped for gas anywhere else on Thursday and were estimating she could travel 300-350 miles on the full tank from Circle K in Newberg.

There is no evidence of foul play, according to the official police statement Tuesday night, and Huston's family continues to be helpful and cooperative.

Huston was driving a 1999 Lexus SUV with Oregon license WXH-011.  Police say there is a "U" shaped crack in the windshield on the passenger side and there is a Yakima Ski Rack mounted on the roof.

NEWBERG, Ore. -- Police officers and deputies were gearing up Wednesday morning to start an official search for missing Dundee mom Jennifer Huston.
 ::snipping3::
A huge outpouring of support through social media led friends, family members, and even strangers to start searching for Huston early this week.

A family spokesman told KGW that on Tuesday a handful of searchers went to the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge in Sherwood, Champoeg State Park in Newberg, and Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint outside of Hillsboro.

Now Newberg Police have asked other law enforcement agencies for help searching rural areas and logging roads, Yamhill County Cpt. Tim Svensen told KGW. Law enforcement agencies were meeting Wednesday morning to discuss the search area and what equipment they'll use later in the day.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts was urged to call police at 503-538-8321. The family has been providing updates on the Find Jennifer Huston Facebook page.

NEWBERG, OR (KPTV) -
Search and rescue teams combed backcountry roads Wednesday in hopes of finding clues that may lead them to missing Dundee mother Jennifer Huston.

Separately, at least two helicopter searches took place, and a Cessna plane was also expected to join in the volunteer search effort.

One private helicopter launched from the Hillsboro Airport around 10:45 a.m. Search organizers said the helicopter crews looked around Parrot Mountain, Bald Peak, Hagg Lake and the Willamette River between Champoeg Park and Wheatland Ferry.

On the ground, Yamhill County Sheriff's Office deputies have been keeping an eye out for Huston throughout this week, but they performed a more methodical search Wednesday. Captain Tim Svenson said no one knows the roads surrounding Dundee and Newberg better than his deputies.

Those deputies looked along the Willamette River for any trace of Huston's SUV.

"We would most likely see their tire tracks coming into the water, so we'd be checking the bank for that," said Deputy David Mills, from the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office.

Despite all the efforts on Wednesday, deputies reported they turned up no new leads. An updated bulletin has been sent to law enforcement agencies in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California and Alaska.

Looking for clues in Jennifer Huston's life to find the missing Dundee mom
on July 31, 2014 at 7:37 AM, updated July 31, 2014 at 7:46 AM

Since there is no sign of foul play and it's not illegal to go missing, detectives are having a difficult time fully examining all aspects of Jennifer Huston's life.

And not because anyone's stonewalling. Quite the contrary. The case has bogged down because the right to privacy -- when no crime appears to have been committed -- trumps the right to get detailed records by officials wanting to help.

"We have received financial records from the family," said Capt. Jeff Kosmicki, of the Newberg-Dundee Police Department, the lead agency handling the case. "But we can't get medical, or cell phone records. Legally, Mr. Huston does not have access to them."

Kosmicki said Kallen Huston, the missing woman's husband, has cooperated fully with detectives. He has passed a lie detector test, and answered all questions.

But that's not the issue now facing detectives.

Kosmicki said Jennifer Huston's medical records are protected by HIPAA privacy laws that at prohibit what information can be released without the patient's permission. So, too, he said with cell phone records.

"Mr. Huston wants to release the records, but he doesn't have authorization to do so," Kosmicki said. "We can't get go to court and get a subpoena to order the records to be legally released. We don't have justification for a subpoena because we have no evidence that a crime has been committed."

The search for missing Oregon mom Jennifer Huston stretched to Washington's San Juan Islands on Thursday.

A bulletin was forwarded to the San Juan County Sheriff's Office, and deputies on all four islands that can be reached by ferry are looking for her.

The San Juan Islands do not have license readers on ferries, and Yamhill County detectives believe she could be there. A cell phone tower ping indicated she may have been driving north.

Huston, who has now been missing seven days, grew up in Gig Harbor, WA, and the San Juan Islands were one of her favorite spots.

NEWBERG, Ore. -- Police confirmed Thursday that the battery of missing Dundee woman Jennifer Huston's cell phone did not die; the phone was turned off when she vanished, according to investigators.
 ::snipping3::
The 38-year-old mother of two disappeared after leaving home to run errands around 5:45 p.m. on July 24, according to a police timeline. Her husband reported her missing to police the following day.

Huston's family told KGW Thursday morning they have been calling her cell phone every hour since then, and the calls go to voicemail each time.

Timeline in missing Dundee mom case

Because there is no evidence of crime, investigators cannot get a subpoena to ping the phone for a location. And without a subpoena, cellular companies will only ping a phone for 48 hours.

But investigators confirmed that in those first 48 hours Huston's battery did not die; her cell phone was turned off.

Meanwhile, the search has stretched from the Newberg-Dundee area all the way to the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington.  Day 7 of the search began Thursday with volunteers combing the west and central sections of Yamhill County.

Four search-and-rescue crews were checking Highway 47, from Carlton to Gaston, for skid marks, tamped-down bushes and other evidence of a possible crash.

Search for missing Oregon woman expands to other Western states
July 31, 2014

Reuters) - The search for a missing Oregon mother of two young children has expanded to other states, with investigators pursuing all leads after a week without any concrete information on her whereabouts, police said Thursday.

Jennifer Janelle Huston, 38, of Dundee, 28 miles south of Portland, went missing last Thursday while doing errands.

No foul play is suspected, and the Newberg-Dundee Police Department said Thursday their missing persons bulletin had expanded to Idaho and Alaska. It was also issued this week in California and Washington state.

With no solid leads or information on her whereabouts, police also contacted authorities in the San Juan Islands, a series of four islands off Washington's coast, and a favorite vacation spot for Huston.

"We learned from her family that the islands were a place she enjoyed going," said Newberg-Dundee Police spokesman Captain Jeff Kosmicki. "We do not, however, have any backup information she's up there."

Huston's family has said she would not have run away.

Babysitters: Missing Oregon mom had big plans for anniversary

DUNDEE, Ore. -- Family members of missing Dundee mom Jennifer Huston continue to be baffled over where their loved one could be, now a full week after she disappeared.

The 38-year-old mom had big plans for the weeks to come, including a special celebration with her husband Kallen, for their wedding anniversary.

She had already set things up with the family babysitters, Morgan and Amanda Johnson.

“She was always upbeat and always planning stuff like kids’ play dates or recently it was her anniversary and she was scheduling me to babysit," Morgan said.

Huston was a dedicated mom to her two young sons, according to friends. When she wasn’t organizing play dates, she also volunteered at her older boy’s school.

“We just don't get it,” Amanda said. “She would never leave her kids."

The Johnson sisters said the last time they talked to Jennifer “she just seemed like her normal self, planning things and just smiling and excited."

Police, helicopter join search for Dundee woman
Posted on July 31, 2014

NEWBERG, Ore. -- The search for missing Dundee mom Jennifer Huston was bolstered by help from a private helicopter and a plane Wednesday. On Wednesday night, police said they would continue aerial searches for Huston.

Huston, 38, disappeared after leaving home around 5:45 p.m. Thursday to run errands, according to a police timeline. Her husband reported her missing to police on Friday.

"According to him, she appeared to be a little stressed out, and needed some time to clear her head and get away," said Capt. Jeff Kosmicki, with the Newberg-Dundee Police Department.

Huston was last seen driving a dark green, 1999 Lexus SUV with Oregon License number WXH 011.

Could the above words of Jennifer's husband as well as the purchase of sleeping pills indicate that she may have been depressed ... not stressed".  Apparently ... the dose of the pills purchased would not have been lethal on its own but ...

1.  Jennifer's cell shut off shortly after leaving the gas station ... the last known sighting.  Could the implication be that she did not want cell towers to reveal the direction she was heading.

2.  Jennifer topped up her gas tank.  She also purchased a drink ... a snack and ... sleeping pills with the small amount of cash she just withdrew from an ATM.   Could the implication be that she was preparing to drive directly to a pre-planned destination without stopping.

I hope I am wrong with my suspicion.

Jennifer Huston, of Dundee, Ore., was last seen on surveillance camera leaving a gas station in Newberg, a Portland suburb, one week ago. She and her vehicle have not been seen since -- despite expansive searches by air and land for the stay-at-home mom.

<snipped>

He also noted that detectives viewed security footage of Huston withdrawing money from an ATM ...

<snipped>

Huston's cellphone shut off at approximately 6:35 p.m., but investigators don't know if it was turned off or if the battery died. Kosmicki said the last cellphone tower it pinged from was north of the gas station but "more technical" data is needed, like "latitude and longitude" information that might show which direction she was headed in.

<snipped>

Kosmicki said Huston's vehicle would be able to travel 300 to 350 miles on a full tank of gas.

<snipped>

Huston left her home around 5:45 p.m. on Thursday to run errands, according to her husband. Detectives say she withdrew a small sum of money from an ATM before purchasing items at a pharmacy and then filling up her SUV with gas.

Huston's husband, Kallen, who passed a polygraph test, said his wife had complained of a headache for "several days" prior to her disappearance.

<snipped>

The gas station security footage shows Huston purchasing gas between 6:10 and 6:22 p.m. on Thursday. Turner said he reviewed the footage with police and that it did not show anyone inside the vehicle with his daughter.

No activity has been recorded on Huston's bank cards, according to police. Kosmicki noted that Huston's vehicle did not have a tracking device.

My nephew attempted suicide.  A lovely wife.  Two great kids.  No financial difficulties.  The world didn't see it but behind the scenes ... his wife did.  She knew that her husband may have been "smiling on the outside while crying on the inside".  She felt helpless.  He felt helpless.  Depression is
h---.

Thankfully ... therapy and medication has lifted my nephew from the dark place ... the dark place where there is no rational thinking ... no light at the end of the the tunnel.

Again ... I hope I am wrong regarding my suspicions regarding Jennifer's disappearance.

Dundee police following FBI advice in search for Jennifer Huston
Posted on August 1, 2014 at 8:31 AM

NEWBERG, Ore. -- Local police are going through a missing-persons checklist given to them by the FBI in the ongoing search for missing Dundee mom Jennifer Huston, authorities told KGW Thursday.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is not directly involved in the Huston case, but advises smaller departments in what to look for. The mysterious disappearance of the 38-year-old wife and mother of two is not being investigated as a criminal case; it remains a missing persons case.

Huston disappeared after leaving home to run errands around 5:45 p.m. on July 24, according to a police timeline. Her husband Kallen Huston reported her missing the following day. Police said Kallen told them Jennifer left the house feeling stressed out, and he tried to call her fairly soon after, but she did not answer.

Huston's family told KGW Thursday morning they have been calling her cell phone every hour since then, and the calls go to voicemail every time.

Investigators have not been able to obtain a subpoena to ping Huston's phone for a location, because this is not a criminal investigation.  However, a technical expert told KGW a cell phone must be turned on in order to transmit a ping anyway, so this type of information would not be significantly helpful in the Huston case.
 ::snipping3::
"After today [Thursday], we will probably have covered every part of our county, either by air or by vehicle. So, unless they have any more information by the end of today, we will have covered our portions of our county and probably not have any searchers out tomorrow," Svenson added.
------------
Clarification: Police earlier told KGW that they were able to determine Huston's cell phone had been turned off and the battery did not die. They have since backed off that statement.

Sounding more and more like Jennifer left on her own accord.  You just never know.

On a personal note:  years ago I knew a gal who had 3 children, one a newborn.  She was a very religious person and was always baking pies and such for the church meetings, etc.  She ended up walking away from her husband and her kids within a year of the newborns birth to "shacking up" with a co-worker.  I know this for a fact because I worked with her and the co-worker.  Everyone was shocked.  They made no apologies.

Klaas

At home ... behind the scenes there could have been red flags that implied that your co-worker was dissatisfied with her marriage ... red flags others were not privy to.  Was there a breaking point when she made the decision that she could no longer go on with the deception?

I can remember the scene back when eldest son was a teenager ... the scene in our vehicle on the drive to church.  Hubby was chastising this rebellious young man in regards to his disrespect.  Teenage daughter was attempting to distract her little brother who was still in a car seat.  The 15 minute drive was very upsetting.  Anyway ... we all entered the sanctuary with our happy faces ... including eldest son.  After the service ... one of the elders shared with hubby and I that our family was such a testimony to the church family.  I told him that it was obvious he was not the fly in our car 90 minutes earlier.  In other words ... our family akin to others experience dysfunction that we normally do not share with the world.

It has been reported that Jennifer's husband has shared that his wife was "stressed" when she left the home.  Could there be more to the story that has not been revealed by authorities?

From 6:10 p.m. to 6:17 p.m., she went to Rite Aid, where she purchased Gatorade, trail mix and over-the-counter sleeping pills. The amount of sleeping pills she purchased would not be enough for a lethal dose.

At 6:20 p.m., she went to get gas at the nearby Circle K gas station on Portland Road, spending less than $40 at the gas station, leading police to believe she was topping off the tank.

At 6:35 p.m., Huston’s cell phone signal went dead.

Police said the expected travel range of Huston’s SUV on a full tank of gasoline would be 300 to 350 miles.

If Jennifer is alive ... the implication is that she is not alone.  IMO

Think about the under $100 withdrawal from the ATM and the report that there has been no activity since that transaction on any accounts.

Has it been reported whether Jennifer packed clothing/toiletries prior to leaving home?

Jennifer Huston Missing Since 7/24/14: Stopped at a Rite Aid Drug Store and Purchased Gatorade, Trail Mix and a Package of Sleeping Pills … Surveillance Video Image … Missing: Accident, Abduction, Suicide?

http://scaredmonkeys.com/2014/07/30/jennifer-huston-missing-since-72414-stopped-at-a-rite-aid-drug-store-and-purchased-gatorade-trail-mix-and-a-package-of-sleeping-pills-surveillance-video-image-missing-accident-abduction/

Quote
Ut-oh, Sleeping pills, full tank of gas and cell phone turned off …

Authorities in Oregon have released a surveillance video image of missing Jennifer Huston from the day that she went missing on July 24, 2014. The image is of Huston stopped at a Rite Aid drug store in Newberg, OR, and purchasing Gatorade, trail mix and a package of over-the-counter sleeping pills.

These are not good signs. The police have stated that the amount of sleeping pills she purchased would not be enough for a lethal dose. Also, the full tank of gas purchased by Jennifer Huston’s provides her with a 300 to 350 mile traveling range.Not to speculate, but I think the police may be looking at this in the wrong way.

::snipping3::

Red ... my thought exactly.  Akin to you ... I hope I am wrong.

Jennifer Huston husband: ‘If you can come home, do’
Published: August 1, 2014, 11:25 am | Updated: August 1, 2014, 3:29 pm

DUNDEE, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Finding Jennifer Huston’s Lexus is the key to finding her, said her husband at a Friday afternoon press briefing.

Kallen Huston addressed members of the media hours after Yamhill County officials ended their search for the 38-year-old mother of two who vanished after getting gas at a Circle K in Newberg on July 24.

“It’s been eight days,” Kallen Huston said at the beginning of his brief remarks, “and we still have no clue” where she might be.

“We really need to find her car,” he said, adding there is a “soccer ball-sized U-shaped crack” in the window as an identifying mark on the 1999 Lexus SUV.

“Jennifer,” he said, making remarks directly to her, “if you could see this or hear this, I love you. You have a ton of support from the community. If you can come home, please do. The boys need you. I need you. I love you.

“We’ll never stop looking for you.”

Huston answered a few questions and said police searched all over Yamhill County but have no solid lead.

Going into the weekend, he suggested joggers and off-roaders keep their eyes open for anything unusual and call local police if anything is spotted.

Asked about the purchases she made at a Rite-Aid minutes before she was last seen, Huston said they seemed normal. She bought a Gatorade, he said, because it was a hot day. Trail mix was something they had in the house from time to time, and the sleeping aids was “probably because she’d had a headache for three days.”

Her cell phone was turned off, he said, but he keeps calling it hoping she — or someone — will answer.

“Anyone who knows Jennifer,” he said, knows her disappearance is “completely out of character for her. She loves me, She loves the boys.”

FOX 12 confirms possible sighting of Jennifer Huston in the San Juan Islands

FRIDAY HARBOR, WA (KPTV) -
FOX 12 can exclusively confirm that deputies are actively investigating a possible sighting of Jennifer Huston in the San Juan Islands.

According to deputies, a couple visiting Friday Harbor is convinced the missing mother boarded a ferry from Anacortes to the island. The couple described the make and model of her car, down to the cracked windshield, and say a woman fitting Huston's description was behind the wheel.

Now, San Juan County Sheriff deputies are rushing to get their hands on surveillance video from aboard that ferry.

"The information that we've received is that there was a female on the boat, on the 9 o'clock ferry sailing from Anacortes to Friday Harbor on Thursday morning July 31," said San Juan County Under sheriff Bruce Distler.

"The woman we talked to also identified a green car, possibly a 99 Lexus, with cracked windshield although she couldn't give us a license plate," said Distler.

Deputies say the couple who spotted the car also described a woman in her 30's with blonde hair who had a 2 by 3 inch white Band-Aid on her left cheek. The tip was so descriptive, they've alerted the Newberg police department.

Deputies say they have also called ferry security based out of Seattle to pull the tape from that morning so they can confirm if the woman is in fact Huston.

"It's not something that's just another tip, it's something that is serious enough that we're gonna take a look at it and make sure everything pans out," said Distler.

Deputies say the tip is prompting them to search for Huston on the island more urgently and are anxiously awaiting a look at that surveillance video.

Authorities confirmed late Saturday that they are investigating a possible sighting of missing Oregon mother Jennifer Huston in Washington state’s San Juan Islands.

San Juan (Wash.) Country Sheriff’s deputies have told KPTV that a couple visiting the islands are convinced that they saw Huston on board a ferry traveling from the mainland town of Anacortes to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island on the morning of July 31, exactly a week after she was reported missing.

San Juan Country Undersheriff Bruce Distler told the station that the couple said the woman was blonde, in her 30s, and driving a green SUV with a cracked windshield, similar to descriptions put out by police. Distler said that the tip was so descriptive that it prompted deputies to alert the police department in Newberg, Ore., where Huston was last seen.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Huston's husband and father joined KATU News for an interview on Sunday morning to talk about the latest developments in the search.

"It's been an emotional time for the family. Lots of ups and downs," said Kallen Huston, Jennifer's husband. "These leads get us excited for a short bit, then reality sets back in and it's been difficult."

Kallen Huston said the family doesn't know yet if the new lead is credible.

"The islands are small and it should not take a long time to search," he said. "We've vacationed many times there in the past."

Huston's father, Bill Turner, says he believes Jennifer is still in Oregon.

"I believe she's within 25 miles of Newberg," Turner said.

"We are still searching the parks and places she could have gone within walking distance," he said.

Jennifer Huston search: San Juan officials on lookout after couple spots blonde woman, green SUV on ferry
on August 03, 2014 at 12:11 PM, updated August 03, 2014 at 12:15 PM

 ::snipping3::
A couple phoned in a tip Friday that they saw a blonde woman in her 30s and a dark green SUV with a cracked windshield aboard the 9 a.m. ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island on Thursday, Distler said.

His department took the report seriously and has asked officials with the Washington State Ferries to review all video footage from that ferry captured between 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Thursday.

But, he said, no one else, including tourists, locals, ferry workers or deputy sheriffs posted on several islands in the San Juans chain, has corroborated seeing a woman resembling Huston or the dark SUV with a broken windshield that the couple reported. And that lack of confirmation has come during a time when the ferry sighting was highly publicized to ferry workers, sheriff's deputies and the public on the islands, Distler said.
 ::snipping3::
Anyone wanting to get to or from San Juan, Lopez, Orcas or Shaw Island must line up in a long line of vehicles out in the open air to drive aboard a ferry.

Officials with the ferry system have not yet told the sheriff's office if they have reviewed the video footage or what it showed, Distler said.

Distler said that the tip was so descriptive that it prompted deputies to alert the police department in Newberg, Oregon, where Huston was last seen.

“If that was her on the ferry, she could be on Orcas Island right now, she could be on Lopez, she could be on Shaw, she could be anywhere using the ferry systems,” Distler told the station.

“Hard to say; there’s been so many potential sightings of Jennifer,” Jennifer’s husband Kallen Huston said on “Fox and Friends” about the possibility of the sighting being legitimate.  “Of course, I get excited each and every time.”

“We need a place we can zero in on to search,” he told FOX.

Huston said he began to break the news to his older son that his mother is not really on vacation.

Family of Jennifer Huston on San Juan Islands tip: 'I hope that it's her'
Posted: Aug 03, 2014 6:17 PM CDT
Updated: Aug 03, 2014 8:15 PM CDT

FRIDAY HARBOR, WA (KPTV) -
The family of missing mom Jennifer Huston tells FOX 12 that the tip about her being in the San Juan Islands is the first tip out of hundreds that places a woman fitting Huston's description behind the wheel of a car that matches her vehicle description.

"I hope that it's her and I hope they find her, like right now," husband Kallen Huston said. "I hope it's her, but I also don't want people to stop the search locally in Yamhill County just in case. But, we've got two people that reportedly recognize the car and her, and I've gotta say, that's a first."

"Every other tip we've gotten through Facebook, Twitter and beyond says, ‘Hey, I saw her, but she's got a haircut,' or ‘Hey, I saw her but she has tattoos now.' To have one where they identify her and the car, that's one of note."
 ::snipping3::
Deputies said they have called ferry security based out of Seattle to pull the tape from that morning so they can confirm if the woman is in fact Huston.

"It's not something that's just another tip, it's something that is serious enough that we're gonna take a look at it and make sure everything pans out," said San Juan County Undersheriff Bruce Distler.

A representative from WSDOT ferries tells FOX 12 they cannot disclose how long it will take to review the tape on board the ferry of interest, because of aspects of homeland security.

They did confirm they've sent out an alert with Huston's information to virtually every employee throughout the whole ferry system.

Okay Jennifer disappeared Monday evening. Nothing on her until the couple said they thought they saw her at the Ferry crossing on Friday. That's 4 days. Her family says nothing is missing from her home. Only a small amount of cash was taken out of the bank.

It's about 281 miles from Dundee to Anacortes that's about 4 hour drive and one could get there on a tank of gas. That is taking the 5 up to 536 cut over to 20 into Anacortes.  Which all are main highways. There is another way the 5 to a small cut over to 405 to the 525 to Mukilto where there is another ferry Mukilto/Clinton  where you can get the 20 again into Anacortes.  Close to the same mileage as the other. But not a major road like the 5.

So where was she from Monday evening until Friday. What is she using for money for those four days. While I hope and pray is is found safe. It doesn't make sense that she would just pop up after 4 days.

I keep thinking that they should start looking at all the water ways around the area. That she went off the road into one of them. Just thinking a loud.

Since her dad is retired detective I wouldn't be surprised. Just recently here in Texas they found the skeleton reminds of a couple young girls who had gone missing back in the 70's. When the lake they crashed into became so low due to the drought here. Couple years ago when the producer guy went missing in California two years later they found him & his car in the aqueduct system.  I think they really need to look around on roads around there.

::snipping3::

Red ... my thought process exactly.  Akin to you ... I hope I am wrong.

Janet

Jennifer's husband reported that his wife was "stressed" and needed to "clear her head" when she left the home.  Within an hour ... Jennifer's cell phone was shut off after withdrawing a small amount of cash from an ATM ... purchasing an energy drink/trail mix/sleeping pills and ... topping up her gas tank.  It is reported that she could have driven  up to 350 miles.

Also ... it has been reported that there has been no transaction on any of her accounts since the gas purchase.

Although the sighting has not been officially confirmed ... could it be a reflection of the truth nevertheless?  Could it be that Jennifer's vehicle will be located in San Juan Islands?

Janet

Wash. ferry tip hasn't led to missing Oregon woman
August 4, 2014

FRIDAY HARBOR, Wash. (AP) — The San Juan County, Washington, sheriff's office says it is working with the local community and the Washington State Ferries system but so far has been unable to confirm a report that a missing Dundee, Oregon, woman might be in the San Juan Islands of northwest Washington.

KPTV reports that the sheriff's office said Monday it has received "no information confirming the presence of Jennifer Huston in the San Juan Islands." Island authorities say they will remain alert for any information on the woman.

Investigators were checking out a report that the missing woman was spotted late last week on the ferry out of Anacortes to Friday Harbor in the San Juans.

A couple who notified deputies told KPTV that they saw a woman matching Huston's description driving a car that matched Huston's car.

The 38-year-old woman was last seen July 24 running errands. A search was conducted in Oregon.

Huston's family says she spent time in the San Juans in the past.

SHERIDAN, Ore. – Jennifer Huston’s body was found in Sheridan near Deer Creek Park late Tuesday morning, police confirmed.

Huston, a 38-year-old stay-at-home mom from Dundee, had been missing since July 25.

Her disappearance had triggered a massive multi-state search for her and her green Lexus SUV.

The SUV was hidden in some bushes.

When police arrived, they found her SUV but not her body. After Newberg police detectives swept the area, they found her body nearby.

Police said there is nothing to indicate foul play, and they don't believe the public is in any danger.

Jennifer Huston’s body found short distance from Lexus
August 5, 2014, 3:24 pm

The mystery of a Dundee mom, missing for nearly two weeks, has ended in tragedy.

Tuesday, 38-year-old Jennifer Huston’s body was located a short distance from the 1999 Lexus LX sport utility she was last seen driving July 24. There is no indication foul play was involved, Newberg Dundee Police said in a statement.

The SUV was spotted down Southeast Gopher Valley Road, just off Highway 18, near Sheridan, Ore., police confirm.

Capt. Chris Bolek said the license plates of the Lexus located on the remote road matches those of Huston’s vehicle. Just before 10:30 a.m., the vehicle was spotted by the property owner, who reported it to police. Once deputies confirmed the vehicle was in fact Huston’s, they discovered her body nearby during a sweep of the surrounding area.

When 74-year-old Vern Clemmer went out to chop wood on his 30-acre property, a 1451 SE Gopher Valley Road property, he spotted the green Lexus and wrote down the license plate because it looked suspicious.

Charlotte Clemmer said when her husband returned, her heart fell when he told her it was a dark green SUV. He said he smelled what he thought was a dead deer. He then called the police.

<snipped>

“I was going to look for a dead deer on the way back and now I’m glad I didn’t,” said Clemmer. He said he didn’t get off his tractor to investigate because he got an “eerie feeling.” He said the Lexus was parked roughly 50 yards in from the service road, obscured from view.

“I got thinking ‘maybe this is someone I don’t really want to run into,” he said.

The Lexus was parked in an area that would have required the driver to unlatch a roped gate, pass a “No Trespassing” sign and then re-attach the rope.

Charlotte Clemmer said her neighbors heard gunshots nearby one week ago.

Huston’s husband, Kallen Huston, said she was acting erratically the night she left to run errands.

Reports suggested Huston had been spotted on a ferry to the San Juan Islands last week, but San Juan police said could not turn up any credible leads from the tip.

Police: ‘We have a good idea of what happened’

Newberg-Dundee Police Captain Jeff Kosnicki said the vehicle is being processed and will be moved so that an Oregon State Police forensic investigation can begin.

Yamhill County deputies arrived on the scene, and canvassed to see if anyone was in need of medical attention.

“The area where the vehicle was found was probably a good 1/8th of a mile from the residence,” said Kosnicki. The path is a driveway on the property.

“It’s not a road somebody would drive,” he said.  Rivers were checked, back roads were checked, but Kosnicki said it is likely search crews flew over the area Huston was parked.

He said results from the Medical Examiner could come back as early as tomorrow. “It doesn’t appear to be a crash that caused this,” he said.

“We’re still open-minded, but I think we’ve got a pretty good idea of what happened.”

Jennifer Huston’s death ruled a suicide
Published: August 6, 2014, 12:54 pm | Updated: August 6, 2014, 6:45 pm

NEWBERG, Ore. (KOIN 6) — The autopsy results on Jennifer Huston’s death were released Wednesday afternoon and listed her manner of death as a suicide, the Newberg-Dundee Police Department (NDPD) said.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office listed the cause of death as asphyxiation. Toxicology results were still not available, police said in a release.

NDPD detectives said they have not been able to establish any connection to the property owners where the vehicle was discovered and Huston. There was no evidence of a crash or damage to her vehicle and the fuel gauge was registering as full, police said.

The body of the 38-year-old Dundee mother was found in a rural area of Sheridan, approximately 40-yards from where her 1999 Lexus SUV was discovered on Tuesday.

Crime scene technicians from the Oregon State Police (OSP) and NDPD Detectives located the empty box of the sleeping aids that were purchased at the Rite Aid pharmacy and a gas receipt from the Circle K gas station in Newberg.

Inside the vehicle, detectives found a note addressed to members of Huston’s family. Her purse and personal items, which included her cell phone, were also located in the vehicle. The cell phone was analyzed by NDPD computer forensic detectives who found no indications of nefarious actives.

Based on the totality of the evidence, detectives and the medical examiner said they concluded that Huston died fairly close to the time she was reported missing.

Jennifer Huston Missing Since 7/24/14: Stopped at a Rite Aid Drug Store and Purchased Gatorade, Trail Mix and a Package of Sleeping Pills … Surveillance Video Image … Missing: Accident, Abduction, Suicide?
