I don't remember which show she was on mrs. red when she said that.  Anita also said "this isn't about Natalee anymore" when her husband was arrested.  She is a very cold hearted woman.  That is the real Anita just like the one we saw in the taxi cab in New York.

Hello monkeys!! A lightning strike three weeks ago blew me offline, just now back on YEAH!!! Phew, withdrawel is a bad thing!   While I was offline, I went to a reunion. While there, I talked to a woman...her and her hubby, just back from Aruba. She said that the majority of the locals she spoke with told her that ..Joran is as guilty as sin! And, that Paulus covered the whole thing up for the boy, they hate The VDS family (most of the locals do).....also, when they went on a snorkeling adventure, another local who is a tour guide pointed to a part of the island and said "That is where they gang raped the girl"...."Then she was thrown into the ocean over there."   So, in my opinion, the locals may say what they have to say to feel safe over there, but in reality, they know the truth!!!

I'm not as convinced as you are on this.  Although I do believe her to be diffiicult after the fact, I do think (initially anyway) she was in the dark as to the happenings that evening...and was doing what most mothers would have done.  It's only my opinion here, but I can't place fault with her for protecting Joran.  It's her maternal right to do so...

She basically was a person in charge.  She left her hubby at the hotel sweating bullets and she was in the cab trying to get Joran on the phone because she basically wanted him to turn back.  One of her quotes in the cab were we don't know what these people are capable of.  She was not the innocent woman she was portraying herself to be.  It was a changed Anita.

2NJSons, there was a film crew with Anita in the cab.  I believe when they came to New York to do the PrimeTime interview they were doing another interview with people from Holland.  I think it was a Nova interview.  Klaas will know.  When she gets back later maybe she has the link.

The facade she puts on in public is that of a beguiling innocence, but her blood runs crimson to black and coagulates at the thought of someone taking a dollar that she might be able to somehow connive and get.

It was during the arrest episode where she made Paulus sit down in the hotel and she commandeered every move hurrying up the cab driver trying to fend off sporter from any subpoenas he might receive.  She looked like a witch with fried hair in flight to retrieve her baby bat.

I have to beleive that God has some kind of plan for those who are guilty in this case ( and we all know who they are) to pay for what they have done. Otherwise this injustice and coverup would be even more unbearable....BOYCOTT ARUBA, NOW!  Let them see what we think of people who do not care about a missing tourist!! Holland might be a better place to file. All those judges on Aruba
have zero degrees of separation to Paulus.

I wonder if Beth had it to do over again if she would (1) trust Scuba and Julia Renfro, (2) trust Greta, (3) apologize to Ho Island for calling the amigoes criminals, (4) trust Dr. Phil (5) TJ Ward, (6) Charles Croes.

I am not saying she should not have trusted Skeeters, TSE or Art Wood but some of these other slugs that have been in her life are lower than pond scum, right next to joran, paulus and anita.

My hope is that the justice that will eventually meet Joran and the Kalpoes will be worse than if they had spent the rest of their miserable lives in KIA.   I believe in Karma.

I agree Red.  Why else would Taco be trying to claim this exonerated his clients, when Joran is still the lead suspect in the case.  All of them are still trying to spin & manipulate.  That speaks volumes that they are still troubled with all of this.  Their guilt is showing.

I think they would have done like Jug said.  Block that car in and not budge till it was examined. They probably would have followed each suspect from day 1 as well, staying with them like white on rice.

I hope anyone feeling despondent will read Hammer's most uplifting post from I believe it was this morning.

This is just a bump in the road to justice.  I am in it or the long haul.  The judge's ruling does not make the three culprits less guilty nor Natlaee less missing.  It changes nothing of what happened and the need for it to be rectified as best it can be at this late date.

This has been so unpleasant I do not even like to look at beach scenes or palm treees anymore!!  Remember almost all of those on Aruba are manmade with U.S. investment dollars.  Now that they have so much income from online gambling and porn, perhaps they think they no longer need us?  

We have to increase the boycott as it may be our recourse but it is at least a very valid and good method we have to address this injustice.

Yes.  Possibly.

At the very beginning of NY civil action and serving of papers on plane and outside airport, JQK always downplayed chances of case being heard in that venue.  He said it was a longshot.  ANd indeed, that has proven true.

HOWEVER, the action and the nature of the serving had extremely positive effects for those determined to gain justice in this case.  Consider:

1.  The public access to information which animates US judicial proceeding provided a clear picture of the type of individual jvds is.  And while many here on SM thread knew already, the broad public disemination of the affadaviting of jvds' rapist history is scarlet letter he can live with forever.

2.  The nature of the service scared the sloots and put them on notice that cronyism has boundaries.  If they venture into US jurisdiction again -- ever -- JQK will nail them with another service.

3.  The sloots were exposed as vulnerable and stupid.  They took chances they heretofore felt comfortable taking: and that's because they were enabled by their partners in deviance on Aruba.  However, outside the cabal, they are in the deep end of the pool, and are not really adept swimmers, and now they know it.

4.  The symbolic nature of service and filing may not put a criminal in jail where he/they belong...BUT, it represents something critical to the sloots and their criminally minded partners: this is a FIGHT that will not end until justice is done.  That is a difficult reality to process for the perps, because their strongest desire is for all of this to just go away, and be forgotten.  BUT it isn't going away, and with the crushing boycott pressure, and the sloot knowledge that they are being constantly monitored and tracked, the battle is inexorable, demoralizing for Aruba, and is a grinding battle of attrition in which Natalee and her family hold a huge advantage.

There remains a long road ahead.  But this is far from over, imo.

The matter of the letter received by BHT, mentioned last week or so is a perfect case in point.  Beth goes into no detail regarding the contents or inferences, or even "who" it is specifically from as signatory.  BUT, think about what this represents: a total admission on ARuba's part that boycott is not only working, but crushing them.  Why do they reach out to her, after subjecting her, her family and most importantly - her daughter - to unimagined abuse and disdain?  Or do they reach out to demand "she stop?"  And under what penalty?  And indeed, how can Beth "stop" it in any way.  The boycott is the individual vote of thousands of individual travelers who have determined in their own minds to forget an Aruban experience as their vacation.  As such they vote with their feet, to travel elsewhere.  For Aruba to write such a letter is not just an admission, but a national humiliation.

And so it goes.

I just saw this and I'm checking out the site now...very good idea...it'll spread the word to anybody who sees the letter from the postal handler to the postman to the recipient...I love it!!

Yes, they are pricey.  A less expensive alternative would be to buy some Avery circular labels, and just print up some stickers on our own computers to use on letters.   The circles are like 1 or 1 1/4 inches in diameter. I bet if we ask nice, Klaas or someone would design something for us to use.  :D

These are stamps.  I have to have stamps anyway.

It's quite hard to paint with 5 animals running around especially with Nemo chasing the cats.

I know they are stamps.  I bought some once with my dogs face on them.  They end up being twice as expensive as regular stamps and are too pretty to use!

I didn't post last night because I was afraid I would say something that could go over the line. I believe we are being monitored closely by outside influences who are looking for anything they can find to hang on us.

I have a personal view that "I NEVER lose... I just have my victory delayed". I believe strongly that you only lose when you STOP FIGHTING. The terrorist thugs in the Middle East and elsewhere live on that principle- to them, a war never has an ending, you just reload and get ready for the next offensive. It's high time the Good Guys learned to take that attitude.

I am 100% NOT surprised what happened in ny. I expected it. The high politics of this case came into play. The hard left is so vehemently opposed to the Holloway-Twitty family, they will call in every marker in the legal and journalistic realms they control so rigidly, to attempt to put this family down. Sorry guys, we FIGHT ON.

That judge is elected, folks. Her taxpaying :lol: "constituents" own Aruban timeshares, use credit cards to support porno sites, think Natalee "was asking for it" and see the HT family as redneck red-state Bush-loving Bible-banging hatemongers. The judge played to the home crowd... just like Greta Van Susteren has been doing. OK, fine. Forget about anything worthwhile coming out of new york, it is as whacked-out as Aruba is anyway. AFAIK it is not illegal to put messages or advertisement on the outside of envelopes.  We used to do it during Vietnam War era for sure!   :roll: But the stamps or stickers would surely look better especially if one does not have nice handwriting.

That would work out to 85 cents per stamp which is pretty pricey but I think I will order a few anyway and use on important mail that is going somewhere like to my son who lives in Washington DC area, things like that.

But stickers and just writing on envelopes is a wonderful idea!  Thank you so much for thinking of this simple thing we should have been doing for the past year.  Think how many pieces of mail we have all collectively sent out over that time!

I set up an account there and have ordered stamps from the regular USPS site as I have a strained relationship with my letter carrier, LOL, truly I do if you can imagine.  He is like that one in the Chevy Chase movie with the yellow dog, forget the name, but is just awful.  Anyway my point is the stamps just arrive in the mail without any problems whatsoever.  Usually they arrive the third day after I order them in the evening.

Now I need a stamp pattern to use.  Guess I could use anything and just write the message on it???  Doesn't have to be Aruba.  Could be photo of Natalee for that matter.

It might be worth a try to petition government to make a stamp regards foreign travel.  The State Department had admonished Americans not to travel to Beirut, and then when they got into trouble for going places they were warned not to travel to, what was the first thing they did?  Complained and whined about not being able to get home.  Sure some of them were employed there and some doing government work, but some who claimed to be Americans were simply people with dual citizenships wanting a way out.  

Therefore what I am saying is a warning about travel, in someway, could be put on "real stamps" that are 39-cent stamps for the price of 39 cent, and then you could put the sticker on the envelope advising Boycott of Aruba and that might make it twice as effective.  The gubmint would have their say so and we would have ours.  Double whammy.

Is that not the way it has always been.  It sets us so high above them in the right category and so far above them in the intellectual and creative category.  

The reason for that is because we are determined and we are going to get to the truth.

For this reason the police force considers him as a chief suspect in her disappearance. Joran did not improve matters for himself by lying to the police force.

After some flirting at Carlos n Charlie's and necking in the car, he explained, he brought Natalee back to her to hotel. Instead he left the little girl alone on the beach, he later admitted. The American media jumped on an all out hunt for Joran. Weekly photographs and old video of the Dutchman filled the American news shows. He is called a liar, a rapist, and an assassin. Joran's possible involvement in Natalee's disappearance proves to be a ratings hit. In one go the seventeen-year-old adolescent is world-famous. Who he is and from what kind of a nest he comes, is well known. Still for Anita van der Sloot, Joran’s mother, in the family house in the rural district of Noord where the dog smells the visitor before the gate opens. However., friends, both little girls and boys, could always spend the night he says as he crosses the garden to the outbuilding. Since he was 15 Joran had here, beside the swimming pool and at a reasonable distance of the parental house, his own bedroom and bathroom. Paul opens the door carefully. "Look, here slept four or five during the sleepovers. It was always completely normal. On Aruba it is normal to sleep over at someone else's place. Minors are on the island entirely dependent on parents or friends with a driver’s license pick up and bring them. During a conversation in Arnhem Joran says he was always super-glad have his own room. “The privacy was very fine, especially if there were friends." Of course he had also ordinary friendships with girls, says he as he hears his parents reaction. "One girlfriend slept ten times in my bed without ever something happening between us." She is reminded what Jordan’s friend thought. The restrained themselves with Joran when they were tired of arguments. It disgusts me that any Mother would describe her son as....'delicious'. That is just plain gross. I am about the farthest in your imagination of being a prude. Never have been, never will be and when my Son was in his teens I gave him much more leaniancy than I should have, but I made a promise to myself I would never confine him in the way I was confined. I had to lie and sneak out in order to do anything, anything at all!! I did not want him to have to go through what I did as a teen growing up. With as much leaniancy as Joran was given as an early teen, I find it hard to believe he had to ever 'sneak out' to do anything. Just another lie.

I just wanted to wish everyone a very happy day. I am in such a good mood today and I don't know why!!

Those are beautiful labels. Last year,our group secretary made some for me and others TO: xxxxx FROM Santa and she put some cute Santa faces on them. MY Grandaughter thought they were really from Santa's workshop. I would not have done as good as a job as Klassend !

I live in Florida, which for most intents and purposes is the most Perfect Place to Live on the Entire Planet, with only a few exceptions:
The hurricanes, which I have managed to prepare myself for by making an Hurricane Prevention Kit. This kit consists of a) Two bottles of water and b) A flashlight with batteries that don't work. So with the exception of little things like food, shelter, and the possibility of a house landing on my neck, I'm all set to survive the next Hurricane..
Parking.
My friend came up with this theory that all small talk at parties in large cities is dominated by the biggest problem that city has. For example, in Miami, the biggest question asked at parties is, "How did you get here?" because the Miami roadway system is set up such that, no matter where you try to drive, you always end up in a big traffic jam somehwere near Little Havana with 20,000 cuban protesters..  In New York, the big party question is, "Hey, what did you find in your hot dog today?" and in West Palm Beach, the big question is "Where did you park?"
Parking is especially difficult for me, seeing as how I own a Caddy, a car so large it can comfortably seat the entire population of Rhode Island. It also gets about 2 miles to the gallon. Every year, Exxon sends me a big Christmas card (along with a dead oil-covered piece of Alaskan wildlife. I guess they've still got a lot leftover).
As it turns out, I have to spend most of my time trying to parallel park. This is even more difficult for a big car because I often find myself trying to parallel park into spaces that, in theory, shouldn't be possible, seeing as how the space is typically several inches smaller than my car. But, as I've learned, if you move back and forth enough, you can eventually bump the other cars a few inches out of their way. Either that or accidentally knock off their bumper, which also gives you plenty of space.
This strategy does not work with motorcycles. Parallel parking next to a motorcycle is one of the most stressful moments of my life, seeing as how when I try to park, my mind is playing for me every movie where the hero knocks over a row of motorcycles which undoubtedly belong to a group of guys who eat radial tires as a snack.
But parking does have its benefits -- you become part of a big city-wide society along with other people who need to park, developing your own system of signals and gestures -- one meaning, "Hey? Are you about to get in that car and leave?" another meaning, "No, I just went back to the car 'cuz I forgot my purse." another meaning, "Listen, missy, I'm driving a car bigger than most studio apartments, so you'd better get in that car and drive away right now." and one other that means, "I have a gun."
Plus, having a car gives you a good perspective on romantic relationships. All of parking is just a metaphor for the dating scene. Think about it: you always start off aiming for the perfect spot; you know, the one right in front of your house. The problem is that the perfect one is always taken. So you start looking for ones further and further away from your original ideal, but still keeping your standards high. Then, after some fruitless searching, fear strikes. You think, "What happens if I never find a spot at all? What happens if I never ever find a parking space again?!" At that point, you begin to search for a space... any space... now matter how crummy it might be. Even if it's some temporary space and you know you're going to have to find another one the next day... you're just glad to be parking again.
Of course, it's only after you've settled on a parking space that really isn't all that great that you realize the perfect space, the one you were looking for all along, is finally available. But by that point, you don't want to bother getting in your car again, so you let it pass.
But I don't mean to be cynical. Sometimes it works out -- sometimes yous get that perfect space if you wait long enough. And sometimes it turns out the spot you thought wasn't very good is really perfect for you, while the perfect spot turns out to be under a tree full of pooping pigeons.
Well, okay, the piegons part is kind of hard to translate into the whole relationship metaphor, but you get my drift.

Aruba an uneasy neighbor as Venezuela builds forces
The Caribbean island of Aruba feels caught between two powers battling for ideological and possibly military control of the region.

ORANJESTAD, Aruba - On a clear day, you can see all the way from the southern side of Aruba to Venezuela -- a fact that has rarely caused concern since the island became part of the Dutch kingdom in the 17th century.

But with a military buildup going on in Venezuela and U.S. warships recently engaged in large-scale exercises in nearby Caribbean waters, Aruba suddenly finds itself in the center of political tensions that some fear may turn into a military showdown.

''Little by little, we are more concerned,'' Agustin Vrolijk, Aruba's director of foreign affairs, told The Miami Herald.

He mentioned the recent purchases by Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez of 100,000 Kalashnikov assault rifles, more than 30 Russian helicopters and the desire to manufacture Kalashnikovs to protect his country from a U.S. invasion -- a possibility that Washington has strongly denied.

''Is all this only for defensive purposes?'' Vrolijk asked.

Vrolijk's concerns are partly allayed by a long history of good relations between Venezuela and the so-called ABC islands -- Aruba, Bonaire and Curac¸ao, all part of the kingdom of the Netherlands and protected by the Dutch armed forces. They have long maintained close commercial ties and have strategic partnerships to tackle issues such as drug trafficking.

There are many Venezuelans living on Aruba, and most islanders speak some Spanish. There is also a Valero refinery that processes Venezuelan oil for sale on the East Coast of the United States, and the Dutch oil giant Shell is expanding its reach into Venezuela.

''We know that Aruba poses no threat to Venezuela, and we don't believe that Venezuela poses a threat to Aruba,'' Hinkinus Nijenhuis, the Dutch ambassador to Venezuela, told The Miami Herald in an interview in Caracas.

The U.S. government also has interests in the islands, maintaining military facilities in both Aruba and neighboring Curac¸ao. These facilities, known as Forward Operating Locations (FOL), support U.S. airplanes and occasionally ships that are fighting drug trafficking in the region. They are particularly useful because U.S. planes are no longer allowed to patrol in Venezuelan airspace.

RHETORIC IS FELT

Tensions between the islands and Venezuela appear to have grown as a result of the increasingly combative rhetoric between Washington and Caracas, and Venezuela's increased relations with its Caribbean neighbors. In addition to expanding relations with Cuba, Venezuela also has reached out to the rest of the islands with offers of discounted oil and refinery upgrades.

At the same time, Chávez has tried to isolate the U.S. government from the region, calling President Bush ''Mr. Danger'' and saying repeatedly that Washington has designs to invade his country or even assassinate him. With this in mind, Chávez has ramped up his defenses.

For Chávez, the Dutch islands, which lie between 16 and 30 miles off the Venezuelan coast, would feature prominently in such an invasion plan. On the ABC News program Nightline last year, Chávez told Ted Koppel that a war game developed in Spain in 2001 simulated this invasion; one of the launching points for this simulated attack was an FOL near the target.

The United States has denied Chávez's claims but at the same time flexed its military muscle in the region. In April, as part of a large exercise, the U.S. Navy sent the aircraft carrier George Washington to Aruba and to Curac¸ao and St. Maarten, both part of the Netherlands Antilles.

''There's no other symbol of American power like the carrier that conveys our commitment to the region,'' Brig. Gen. Kenneth J. Glueck Jr., the Southern Command's chief of staff, told The Associated Press at the time.

A destroyer, frigate, cruiser and 60 airplanes joined the aircraft carrier in its tour through the Caribbean.

Tensions also rose after the Netherlands defense minister, Henk Kamp, told parliament in Amsterdam that Chávez had his sights set on the ABC islands. He added that there was little to fear because of Venezuela's ''second class'' navy.

Chávez, a former army colonel, responded by calling Kamp ``a pawn of Washington.''

The Dutch government moved quickly to calm the storm, saying Kemp did not convey its feelings toward Venezuela. The Dutch also hosted two Venezuelan military officers during a military exercise of their own and recently sent a high-level delegation to Venezuela.

TOO MUCH ADO?

U.S. analysts like Daniel Erikson of the Inter-American Dialogue in Washington also downplay the recent rhetoric.

''This is very much the tempest in the teapot,'' Erikson said. ``There is an unsettled climate around Venezuela's regional ambitions. . . . But while there might be a nervousness there, I just don't see Venezuela having any serious designs on the Netherlands Antilles.''

Talk abot paying it forward, I've got a LOT of that to do with family and friends who busted their kiesters to get me moved. It will take years of hard (though loving) work to do. Many of my clients offered to help, God love every one of them. Of course, that is a no-no, so I could not take them up on it. Was touching to know they were willing.

He is adjusting. We were at the old house house yesterday. He was walking from room to room, talking about how "This used to be Mom's room" and "This is where I watched TV and played games". He started sobbing, the poor kid. He'll be okay, though. Both his father's and my family are here. Grandmas, Aunts and Uncles, and cousins are but a short distance away. Not to mention some of my closest and longest known friends right here (30 year reunion is next month~ looking forward to it!).  His mom won't be so tired from the commute, or as stressed over finances, too little time to do anything but have mini nervous breakdowns over work to do, sleep deprivation, etc. All of that will give me the opportunity to be a more attentive, patient and caring mother. He will benefit greatly. He just does not realize it yet.

Croes Joran told him that the girl whose money he won back and the girl he left CnCs wth were the same girl, Natalee.  Deepak e-mail allegedly sent to "Betty" on June 5 says the same thing.  It appears from this statement that Joran had switched to saying it was Ruth by June 9.  Altho in Dave's book he says Dennis Jacobs was questioning him about Joran winning Natalee's money back in October.

2. "The friend of Natalee said to me to go and dance with Natalee because she fancied me." Interesting.  On Greta he mentioned speaking to a friend of Natalee when he walked in but didn't say the friend asked him to dance with Natalee. I wonder if any of her friends confirmed this.

3.  "Natalee took me by the hand and said that she wanted to go home with me. I had told her that I would take her home with me but I knew that that would be impossible because my dad and my brothers were home. Satish, Natalee and myself walked together when she asked me if she could come home with me."

And now of course he says they actually did go to his home.  If that happened, why did he originally deny it?  And I wonder if Satish backs Joran's story that Natalee asked him to take her home with him.

4.  "After I told Natalee that she was allowed to go home with me she told her friends that she would meet up later with them at the Holiday Inn Hotel."

Is this the encounter with Alana Jordan and her two friends?   If so that's not what Alana says she told them, Alana said she pointed at another group of MB kids and said she was going with them.  This could also be the conversation inside the bar that Laraine Watson described in her 302, where Natalee wanted Aliie Anderson to come meet two guys.

5.  "At approximately 01.15 hours, we walked from Carlos & Charlies to the outside."

Joran told Greta they left the bar when it closed at 1:00.  And from his description to Greta it appeared he was saying they walked straight to the car, not that they loitered around for 15 minutes.

6. "We got into the car and before Deepak drove off I told Deepak and Satish that Natalee wanted to go to my house but that I could not take her there because my father and brothers were home. After I told Deepak and Satish this they said it was OK."

No mention of this in Deepak's June 9 statement.  He says Joran told him to "drive around" in Papiamento.

7. "We drove off the parking lot and Natalee saw that her friends and girlfriends were standing between Royal Plaza Mall and the bus stop. We couldn't turn left so Deepak had to drive another around the front of Carlos & Charlies again. After that Deepak was able to turn left and Deepak stopped his car on the public road between Royal Mall Plaza and the bus stop."

This differs from Deepak's June 9 statement. Deepak said that after leaving, Joran asked him to drive around, they circled passing CnCs twice, "crawled" in traffic", would have passed CnCs 3 times but turned left instead of right due to seeing polis car and Deepak not wearing seatbelt.

Joran doesn't mention telling Deepak to drive around, has Deepak passing CnCs once instead of twice.  

8. "After this we drove past the front of "Karma" and then north of the Reinnassance Hotel. There Deepak turned right and then right again into the direction of the hotels. We drove south of Royal Plaza Mall but I did not see Natalee's friends anymore."

Here Deepak and Joran do agree, Deepak also says they turned around and drove back thru the Plaza intersection without seeing her friends.

9. "When we arrived at the stoplights and before we drove in front of Benihana/Hooters Natalee grabbed me by the chin and we started kissing each other".

Joran told PTL that he kissed Natalee first.

10. In this June 9 statement Joran says the "fingering" and slave comment occurred after they passed the Marriott.  Now he's saying they never passed the Marriott, that's where he and Natalee got out.

11.  "We drove up to the lighthouse and then we took the same road down again towards the Holiday Inn."

And of course now he says they never went to the lighthouse.  And he's never offered an explanation for why he lied about that, if he did. I lean towards thinking that the lighthouse trip is the truth and the trip to his home a lie.

12. "Natalee got out the back door on the right side and she fell to the floor."

The Deepak e-mail said the exact same thing, she fell to the "floor", not the ground.  

I think this faling down when she got out did happen, but at the beach not her hotel.

13. "After I did that Natalee said to me not to touch her and she walked into the direction/towards the lobby

I do believe she told him not to touch her at some point.

14. "You are informing me that when I was first interviewed as a witness that I told the detective that Natalee and me got out of the car close to/near Fisherman's Hut and walked in the sea."

So Joran may have actually been the first to claim they went to the beach?

And he mentioned being in the water with Natalee?

This is also intersting because in his Greta interview Joran did not say they got out near the Fisherman's Huts, he said they got out at the Marriott where there were other couples around, then walked north away from her hotel to the area near the Fisherman's Huts.  I wonder where Deepak and Satish say they got out, at the Marriott or the desrted area near Fisherman's Huts.

On June 9th 2005, at approximately 12.00 hours, we the reporting officers interviewed as suspect in this the man named:   Joran Andreas Petrus van der SLOOT, born in Arnhem, Netherlands on August 6th 1987, no profession student (International School of Aruba) and living on Montanja number 19 on Aruba.
 
His statement was made in dutch and was transcribed by me, JACOBS, and goes as follows.
 
Before we, the reporting officers, started the interview, I, JACOBS, informed the suspect that he was not obliged to make a statement and that this interview would be recorded on tape.
 
Although I have been informed by you that I under no obligation to make statements, I am still willing to make a statement in accordance with the truth.
 
On Sunday, I do not remember the date any more, I went at approximately 16.00 hours, to the "Excelsior Casino" at the Holiday Inn Hotel to play "Texas Hold'm poker". (with this the suspect is talking about May 29th 2005). I went with my father named "Paul van der SLOOT" to the casino. I went to play "Texas Hold'm Poker" with my father. It is a poker game in which you get 7 cards and you have to make a card combination with your best (5) cards. You get 500 U.S. $ of fake money and with this money you play. I was done sooner than my father and I went and hung around in the casino. When it was half time of the game my father wanted to go home to go and babysit my ten year old brother. At my father's request I sat in for him and played "Texas Hold'm poker. I am not sure as to when half time was but I think it was between 19.00 and 20.00 hours. I kept on gambling until I lost too. This was according to me until 21.30 to 22.00 hours. I went to walk around in the casino and after that went to the "Blackjack" table to play blackjack. While I was sitting at the table the girl "Natalee" that is missing now to the blackjack table together with her friends. When the English speaking girls came to the blackjack table they introduced themselves. I do not remember the names of the girls anymore but they were from the same group of students that Natalee belonged to. According to me the friends of Natalee played blackjack but Natalee didn't. A girl that was sitting at my left side on the table asked me in English if I could help her play blackjack because she had lost U.S. $ 360,= of her father's money. The girl bet U.S. $ 20,= in the game and I helped her win U.S. $ 100,= with it. After the girl had won U.S. $ 100,= I advised her to call it quits but she wanted to continue. I told her again that she should stop and her friends also said that she should stop. Probably the girl after that went to cash in her chips for money. The girlfriends of the girl asked me if I was going to "Carlos & Charlies" that night. I told them that I couldn't do that because I had school tomorrow. The girls kept insisting that I should meet them at "Carlos & Charlies" because it was their last night on Aruba. After they kept insisting I agreed to meet with at "Carlos & Charlies". I don't know that name of the girl but I remember her from a photo in the newspaper on which Natalee was printed on the left side of her friends and the other girl was on the right side of the friends. This girl is the same girl  that sat at my left side at the blackjack table. After this I told the girl that it was OK and that I would do my best to go to "Carlos & Charlies". After that the group of girls walked to the Sportsbar. In the Sportsbar I also saw to two acquaintances who were watching baseball. I greeted my two acquaintances and told them that I was doing fine too and that I would be going to "Carlos & Charlies" that night. My two acquaintances are named "Luis" and "Joshua". I regularly meet them at Carlos & Charlies. The last name of Luis is "BETANCOURT". I do not know the last name of Joshua. Luis BETANCOURT is a Venezuelan and according to me Joshua is Colombian but I don't know that for sure. After that I walked next to the group of girls and they said to me that I should not forget to go to Carlos & Charlies.  I told that that I would do my best. The girl who stood printed on the right side in the newspaper told me that she was going to take a shower and that she would then go to Carlos & Charlies. I did not make an agreement with the girl as to how late I would meet them at Carlos & Charlies. After that I walked outside through the casino and when I got outside I called my father from my mobile phone which has the number "REMOVED" on the mobile phone of my mother. My mother has a mobile phone with the number "REMOVED". I called my father on that phone because my mother was outside of the country and my father had her phone in his possession. When I called my father it was approximately 23.00 hours. I told my father that I was ready and if he could come and pick me up at "Mc Donalds". After that I had called my friend "Jaime CARASQUILLA" on his mobile phone. I do not know his phone number from memory but I have programmed his mobile phone number in the memory of my mobile phone under the name "Beto". I asked Beto what he was doing and whether he wanted to accompany me in going to Carlos & Charlies. Beto answered me that he was doing nothing but that he could not accompany me to Carlos & Charlies because he had to go to work the next day. Beto works with a transport company but I do not know the name of that company. After that I called Deepak KALPOE and asked him what he was doing and if he wanted to come with me to Carlos & Charlies. Deepak told me he was closing up "Inex" and that he would accompany me to Carlos & Charlies because he didn't have to go to work the next day. Deepak told me that he would be going home first to take a bath and that after that he would come and pick me up at my place. Deepak's nickname is "Tupac". Deepak has a mobile phone with the number "REMOVED". I walked through the Hyatt parking lot where they have a Coca Cola vending machine and there I bought a can of coke. After that I walked to Mc Donalds and had bought a Mc Flurry there. At 23.00 hours my father came to pick me up at Mc Donalds. I am not sure about the time because I never wear a watch.

To your question as to where my mobile phone is, I answer that it is at home. My mobile phone is on my desk in my room.
 
To your question whether I have a girlfriend, I answer to you that I had a girlfriend. After this happened I told my girlfriend what had happened and she wasn't happy about it. My girlfriend's name is "Elaine" but I do not remember het last name now. I do not know the address where Elaine lives but I can point out her house to you. Elaine is Aruban and she studies at the Colegio Arubano Oranjestad. A few weeks ago she and her fellow students went to Venezuela. She now is in class V-4 on the Colegio Arubano and she is 17 years old. Elaine has a mobile phone, but her name is under the nickname "Fishy" in the memory of my mobile phone.
 
I have to say that I have another girlfriend now. Her name is "Florencia METZ". She just graduated from the Mavo and lives behind "Codemsa". Her friends and acquaintances call her "Flor". After my father came and picked me up at Mc Donalds we drove home. I took a shower. To your question as to what clothes I was wearing when I was picked up by Deepak and Satish, I can answer the following. I wore a white/blue shirt, a blue/white jeans trouser or a three-quart black trouser and a couple of white shoes or crème coloured boots. I do not remember now what underwear I was wearing. I do not remember how Deepak and Satish were dressed. I didn't tell my father that I was going to Carlos & Charlies with Deepak and Satish. I hadn't asked my father for permission because he would most likely refuse and usually I ask permission from my mother.
To your question with whom I regularly go to Carlos & Charlies, I answer you that I regularly go there with "Freddy ZEDAN" and "Jaime CARASQUIA". Freddy is a Venezuelan and Jaime is a Columbian. The boy named "Koen GOTENBOS" also regularly goes out with us. The names of my three friends are in the memory of my mobile phone. Freddy is under the name "Fefi" and Koen under the name "Cul".

She grabbed my hand and asked me if I would go to the bar with her. When we arrived at the bar Natalee asked for a Jellyshot. Natalee then went and laid on top of the metal bar. The bartender handed me a small plastic container/cup in which was the Jellyshot that I placed on her belly button. After I had done that I sucked the Jellyshot from her belly button. Jellyshot is a jello with alcohol in it. I do not know what kind of alcohol is in it. When Natalee got onto the bar I thought that she was drunk. I could clearly tell that Natalee had been drinking. I could smell this from the smell that came out of Natalee's mouth. I also have to say that when I saw Natalee dancing I also noticed that she had been drinking. While I was talking to Natalee Satish stood beside me the entire time.
 
Then Natalee said that she also wanted to drink a Jellyshot but the bartender told me that that bar was closed. After that Natalee and me walked to another bar that was still open at that time. I asked the bartender two shots of Bacardi 151. I still had the whisky coke in my hand. Natalee asked me if she should drink the Bacardi 151 in one go. I answered her affirmatively and she answered me that she would do it in two. Natalee said to me that she needed a "chaser" in order to drink the Bacardi. Natalee drank my whisky coke as a "chaser" and then she drank the Bacardi 151 in two goes. I payed for the two shots of Bacardi 151. I do not know where Deepak stood at that moment but according to me Satish was still standing beside me. I did not ask for another kind of alcoholic beverage because I always drink Bacardi 151. Bacardi 151 is 151 proof and that means that it is 75.5% alcohol. I payed U.S. $ 20,- for the two shots of Bacardi 151.

I have to say that Natalee asked me if Deepak and Satish were rich people, because she was impressed by their car. We drove off the parking lot and Natalee saw that her friends and girlfriends were standing between Royal Plaza Mall and the bus stop. We couldn't turn left so Deepak had to drive another around the front of Carlos & Charlies again. After that Deepak was able to turn left and Deepak stopped his car on the public road between Royal Mall Plaza and the bus stop. When we were driving passed Natalee's friends she shouted out of the back window something like "Aruba". I did not hear what Natalee yelled at her friends. At that moment Natalee was very happy. I thought Natalee was attractive. I felt Natalee wanted to party on with me. Natalee held my hand in the car. After Natalee had yelled/shouted to the group a young man came up to the car. The young man shouted at Natalee to get out of the car. Natalee answered that she did not want to get out of the car. The young man for the second time said to Natalee to get out the car. Natalee refused again to get out of the car and said that she was going to stay with us. After this the young man didn't say anything anymore to Natalee. Without me saying anyting to Deepak, he started pulling away.
 
After this we drove past the front of "Karma" and then north of the Reinnassance Hotel. There Deepak turned right and then right again into the direction of the hotels. We drove south of Royal Plaza Mall but I did not see Natalee's friends anymore. In the car Natalee told me that she was from "Alabama" and that her family was rich. She asked me if I was rich too. I answered her that I wasn't rich but that I wasn't poor either, I told her that my father was a judge and that my mother was a teacher teaching at the same school I was on. When Natalee was talking to me she was sitting with one leg into my direction. Natalee had her hand placed against her leg because I could look between her legs. Natalee wore a skirt and I suspect that she did not want us to look between her legs.

After I did that Natalee said to me not to touch her and she walked into the direction/towards the lobby. I saw that she touched a pillar. We did not kiss and I got back into the car. Then we drove home. Later, when we just found out she had gone missing Deepak and Satish told me that they had seen a guard dressed in black when we were driving off. According to them the guard also had a walkie talkie in his hands. Deepak and Satish said that the guard walked towards/in the direction of Natalee. (with Natalee is meant the missing woman named "Natalee Ann HOLLOWAY"; comment Jacobs).
 
I have to say that while we were driving past the front of the container harbour, Natalee told me that her mother was the sister of "Hitler". I laughed and did not ask her what she meant by that. She had said this to me about five times.
 
To your question as to what route Deepak took to drop me off home, I answer you the following. After Deepak left the hotel grounds he took a left and then kept driving until we got to the stoplights of Mc. Donalds. There he turned left again and he drove into the direction of the police station in Noord and then he turned right until he got to the new stadium and there he turned left and brought me home.
 
You are informing me that when I was first interviewed as a witness that I told the detective that Natalee and me got out of the car close to/near Fisherman's Hut and walked in the sea.

After Natalee had yelled/shouted to the group a young man came up to the car. The young man shouted at Natalee to get out of the car. Natalee answered that she did not want to get out of the car. The young man for the second time said to Natalee to get out the car. Natalee refused again to get out of the car and said that she was going to stay with us. After this the young man didn't say anything anymore to Natalee. Without me saying anyting to Deepak, he started pulling away.

So in this interrigation he is denying the FH story.  Why is it the FH story is the one he finally "landed on"?  He is denying it on the same day that there was a confession?  Did the confession come shortly after this interrigation?  Did that confession fall apart because the body he left there wasn't there any more?

I told Deepak to drive to the Lighthouse because Natalee had said to me that she wanted to see sharks. I had told Natalee that there were no sharks but she insisted that she had seen sharks already. At no point had Natalee said to me that she wanted to go to the North Coast. With Deepak's car one cannot drive to the North Coast because his car is too low.
 
To your question why I got the idea to drive to the Lighthouse, I answer you that I did this because Natalee commented that she wanted to go see sharks. She also commented that we could give a a sightseeing tour.

That sentence makes no sense.  If she had seen them already, then she didn't want to go again.  Besides, what can you see at night?  Natalee would know she couldn't see sharks at night.

And what is with the NORTH COAST comment?  Is this the area the witness saw Joran with Natalee? Or is this closer to the rock area?  Need a map I guess.

I do believe some of Jorans statements but they weren't with Natalee.. Klaas I saved the boycott Aruba stamp. I am going to print it out like you suggested and I am going to put it on every piece of mail we send. All the bills etc. Think of all the folks who will see it. All the postal workers, the recipients. I think it is a great idea.

While we were driving in the direction of the Lighthouse and were close to the dunes, Natalee fell half asleep/dozed off again. When she startled awake again she asked me where we were and I answered her that we were at the Lighthouse. Natalee then said to me that we should take her to the Holiday Inn Hotel because she had to travel the next day. We drove up to the lighthouse and then we took the same road down again towards the Holiday Inn. While we were driving in the direction/towards the hotel, she dozed off several times/fell half asleep several times and we didn't kiss anymore.

Joran, does the word incapacitated mean anything to you?  In and out of consciousness, maybe?  Yes, she was not able to defend herself...you saw to that while you were plying her with drinks.  Oh, I am getting mad now.... :x

Last summer when the MSNBC reporter got into the prison and they had an emergency court session and Anita said outside the court he was suppose to be safe in there. Who the hell is safe in prison.  Joran was given special treatment while he was in prison.
