Video shows United worker shove elderly man to the floor

United Airlines has apologized to a 71-year-old grandfather who was pushed to the floor by an employee at an airport in Houston over a ticket dispute, leaving the man “there like a piece of garbage,” according to his attorney.

Footage of the incident at George Bush International Airport in July 2015 was broadcast late Tuesday by KPRC and shows Houston-based attorney Ronald Tigner being shoved to the floor by a male customer service rep just steps away from the ticket counter on July 21, 2015.  Read more...

United apologizes after 2015 video shows employee pushing 71-year-old passenger to floor

A Houston man is suing United Airlines and two of its employees in the 2015 incident. The video was broadcast Tuesday.

• United Airlines issued an apology Tuesday after a video was released of a Houston-based employee pushing a 71-year-old passenger to the floor during an argument over a ticket. The man was left lying there motionless.   

• The confrontation took place about two years ago but was detailed in a lawsuit filed last week in Harris County, Tex. The airline is still facing fallout over an incident with David Dao, a passenger who was violently dragged off a flight in Chicago in April.

•   The video of the Texas pushing incident was obtained and broadcast Tuesday evening by Houston news station KPRC.  Read more…

HOUSTON — A Houston passenger is suing United Airlines and employees, alleging negligence and breach of duty in causing injuries to the plaintiff.

Ronald Tigner filed a complaint June 7 in Harris County Circuit Court against United Airlines Inc. Alejandro Nestor Anastasia and Ianthe Phillips-Allred, alleging United failed to properly train and supervise its employees.

According to the complaint, on July 21, 2015, Tigner sustained injuries resulting in pain and mental pain, lost wages, disfigurement and incurred medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges United employees failed to properly print a legible boarding pass, failed to follow proper protocol and procedures in assisting the traveling public and that Anastasia violently injured the plaintiff, causing medical expenses.

Tigner seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million all just relief. He is represented by attorney William W. Hoke of William Hoke & Associates LLLP in Katy.
