After my divorce  I lived in a small apt...
helped a build (not much help) a duplex that a friend was moving into
His co-worker was building it

Long story made short... all the duplexs in that area had more or less steps or a stoop  (4x8) for decks

Well Tom conned his co-worker / future landlord into putting in one that was 12 x 36. Almost the full lenght of the duplex  and yes he did have the biggest deck in the neighborhood

Monkeys ... this has been a very hard day for Tamikosmom.  I hate change.  First my 35 year old couch and sofa went out the door ... headed to the youth room at the church where ... I know it will be used and abused after receiving nothing but tender loving care after all these years.  A new set came in the door shortly after.  Our grown kids deemed the time had come.

Now the "powers that be' at the Scared Monkey site are forcing me into another change.  I think I am about to have an anxiety attack.  I am so thankful for Ducky ... he is truly my security.

I am not a nurse or a doctor.  I have worked in the hospital setting.  Do you have a problem or concern?  It's not that I necessarily can help...but I can care.

Sorry- I seem to get Tamik & Tibro confused sometimes  :(

I have been having hellacious chest pains; left arm becomes real heavy, and my hand goes numb.  At the same time I have the pains I get a burning right below my ribcabe.  I thought it was heartburn but my doctor wants me to go in monday for a stress test.  I can't do the normal tread mill run because of my back back so they have to do it in the nuclear medicine depart.  All I've been told is that they will bring me to the verge of having a heart attack.  There will be two cardiologists in there among numerous nurses but still I'm scared as heck.  I need someone to explain this test more thourougly to me.  I don't know the name of it so I can't look it up my self.   I guess my main question would be: could something go wrong and I might end up having a real heart attack during the test?

They will monitor your heart very carefully during the test, and the cardiologists will be there.  They will end the test if they feel they need to do so.  I understand your worry....and I will keep you in prayer.  Yes, things can go wrong, but they also can go well, especially with the docs being there to help.

No food or drink with caffeine for 24 hours before the test: No coffee, tea, sodas with caffeine, or chocolate.

Bring the requisition form signed by your doctor to your appointment or we may not be able to do your test.

About your medicines: Check with your doctor about which of your regular medicines to take or stop before the test.

Wear comfortable, loose clothing (pants or shorts). You are asked to undress from the waist up and wear a short gown for privacy and comfort.
 

Those are the instructions they gave me.  This sounds like it might be the one.  Thank you so much.  I don't know if I can do without the caffeine for 24 hrs ahead of time.  That could kill me right there.

If anyone is close to having heart attack it would be the best place to be to have it - surrounded by cardiologists and machines.
I also wonder why more Doctors don't explain more to patients or give them reading material on their treatment.  They forget that the average person does not know all this stuff or they would be doctors as well

I'm a night person and always come alive this late.  Klaas, if you're still around I have a question.  IBE mentioned the site meter earlier and I was exploring it...and the location it has for me is several miles off.  The latitude and longitude are not supposed to be right on, are they?  That site meter is interesting!!!

That is a good thought - also she mentioned a bad back.  
There are lots of things that can give you chest pains.
DH has hiatus hernia which they thought first could be heart problems.
Chest pains, heartburn, arms and fingers tingling, panic attacks.  But they did stress and echo tests and then the endoscopy thing to finally diagnose.
It is a good idea that she is going to be checked out thoroughly.

The site meter will normally only show a general location of the IP "hub".  For instance, if you lived in Chicago it might say Overland Park but that might be 50 miles from your exact city.

Not Klaas - but my location shows three states away from where I am!
It is very interesting what/who you see on the site meter.

Klaas, if we wait up all night, the new site may not be up until noon, despite best intentions.  But I have insomnia often, which is how I ended up getting hooked on this site in the first place  :D

That's because the "launch" pertains to everything, SM Front Page, Missing Persons Blog, Dana Pretzer Radio blog, Shoes Blog and the FORUM.  

It's all coming down very shortly.  The forum should come back up first in a few hours.  Then they will slowly bring up the front page of SM, MP, Radio and Shoes.

Scrux has posted Dash's (alana's) postings.  They are well worth the read.  Beth did not lie about Natalee's character.  I feel almost ashamed, that over two years, I somehow became open to the idea that there may have been more partying than I first thought.  I believe Natalee was a scholar, did not even dabble in drugs and was saving herself for marriage.  I am sorry that I even talked myself into being "open minded".  It really and truly was a bash the victim mentality, very early on.  Wish some of the classmates would post again and bring us all back to the reality of those few days.

I have some new photos of Bella and she's doing well, every morning she's my little buddy, we go out on the porch and I sit in Rick's rocker and she hops in my lap - she's such a comfort to me  :)

I know I've got a bunch of smileys to move over, and some of the style sheet definitions are still incomplete (like, if you look at the right side of the message area, there are "previous" and "next" links, only you can't see them because I still need to give them their own style). I also haven't forgotten about chat. When that's implemented, you'll really like it. I used it on a site I recently sold and they absolutely loved it over there.  I'm also trying to work on this dirty hack of a modification that will give us a "jump to page" feature, but it's going to be tricky. We'll see how that develops.

The news boxes on the right side are pulled in real-time from the various sites. I'm going to adjust the way that works to ease server load. And there are some other things that only nerdy folk like myself would notice that I want to take care of. So there's still work ahead, but feel free to jump in and get your feet wet with the new system.

I'm such a dweeb. I'm having so much fun with this - and this is just site #1! Wait till you hear (and see) some of the things that Red and I have in motion for the dot-com and the radio show!

Oh - here's something important... If you're like me and like to "preview" your message before posting it, the system will give you a cool little warning telling you if other messages have arrived while you were typing. When you see this, it's easy to get distracted and start reading the new messages and forget to click "post" to save your message. It's already happened to me a couple of times. Thankfully the system remembers state between screens just enough to keep text in the editor. When you see the "A new reply has been posted" message, even if you clicked "post", your message is NOT yet saved. You have to save it again. I'm not sure if I like or hate that feature. Time will tell.

Anyway, I'm rambling. I really should go to bed now.

The Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau is asking the community to trust its decision to make an aggressive salary offer to its choice for president. The problem isn't just with the offer, though; it's with who's making it.

The CVB board asking for the public's trust is the same board that allowed former President Warren E. "Mac" McLaughlin to run the bureau as his personal fiefdom while overlooking an employee's embezzlement of $1.5 million. The board has drawn up a plan for its own demise, reducing its bloated 35 seats to 17. But the new board won't be seated until October.


The old board, under interim administrator Jim Stuber - who was Mr. McLaughlin's outside counsel - has offered a four-year contract to Jorge Pesquera, president and chief executive officer of the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association. County commissioners usually refused to pay Mr. McLaughlin as much as the CVB board proposed. On Tuesday, they voted 4-2, with Karen Marcus and Burt Aaronson opposed, to support the old CVB's offer to pay Mr. Pesquera far more than Mr. McLaughlin earned.

Mr. Pesquera would start at $195,000 but could be making - with ill-defined bonuses - $261,000 by his third year. He gets the bonuses if he exceeds the board's expectations by 10 percent, but those expectations and the benchmarks he must meet to exceed them are not declared. The contract seems written more to assure Mr. Pesquera that he'll make more here than the $250,000 he makes in Aruba.

CVB search committee Chairman Roy Assad assured commissioners that Mr. Pesquera is worth it: "What is it they say? If you think hiring an expert is expensive, wait until you hire an amateur, because that will cost you a fortune." Have faith in us, the old board is saying. Commissioners must wonder why.

The old board promises the public that Mr. Pesquera is worth the money while at the same time promising Mr. Pesquera that the new board will deliver his bonuses. The first promise requires establishing clear benchmarks for Mr. Pesquera to reach, and the second assumes he will meet them.

After years of Mr. McLaughlin's leadership, the CVB merits a shakeup. Can the choice of the old board, Mr. Pesquera, deliver? "Trust us" can't be the basis for this decision

Lala's do the following to hide your email addy:

• go up to the top and click on Profile on that pale blue toolbar
• Click on "account settings", then check the box just beneath your email addy

Then click Save changes to profile at the bottom and you should be set !

Hope everyone is enjoying the new Monkey Cage.

It is a work in progress, we realize there are changes an tweaks that need to be made.

We tried to do the conversion late at nite and in the wee hours of the morning so not to impact all of you. That does not mean that at 2 or 3AM some things were not missed as the brain does not always fully function at that hr.

Special thanks to Dugga for some great work. Stay tune for further changes this weekend.

I am sure they are exhausted, but I think this looks great.  There will always be fine tuning and improvements. 

The screen is to wide for me to see the annoucments on the  side at 100%,  If you go to the little % button on the lower right of your screen (in IE) you can adjust the screen size to 85% and it works great for me!  (option 75% and then adjust by going  Zoom in or out.

If you are up and reading...Please, please, if you are having chest or arm discomfort, take an aspirin and call 911 to go to the emergency room.  Do not wait for the Monday stress test.  If you are having heart problems, time is very important. An irritable heart can have rhythm problems that can be very serious. If you don't want to call 911, then have someone take you to the emergency room of a hospital with a cardiac cath lab. If your pain was last night, they can draw blood (enzymes) and tell if it was your heart having the problems. Please, do not wait!!

HI Monkeys!!!  Is anyone on this new forum using AOL?  I can only get the index page and when I try to go to other pages I get the NOT FOUND message.  Also the index page looks much different on AOL then it does using IE.  I am on IE now.  I don't ever use IE...how do I get my buddy list for IM'ing over here?

Lala's, your Yahoo Messenger icon still shows....and if you click on it it takes you to a Yahoo Messenger sign in page, but if you just run your mouse across it, you can see your yahoo email address, so you probably need to hide or remove your Yahoo messenger info.

I think it is the yahoo address for instant messaging, not your regular address.  Now erase those marks against Red and Dugga, and give them a gold star!

I've been having these pains for a few months.  There was only one time that they were bad enough that I thought I should go to the hospital but my husband had taken a sleeping pill and I couldn't wake him.  I know, I know, STUPID.  I hate drs. and hospitals and am the type of person who won't go until I'm on my death bed.  I finally agreed to take these test on Mon. and think I'll make it until then.  I thought the aspirin only helped if you had already had a heart attack once.

Thanks....but there isn't anything there for that adjustment. I have used IE since it came out, have been running computers since the days of MSDOS, win95, 98 and I now still have winME with ie6 sp1 and I have never seen a % thingy on my browser window  ??? I know where you want me to look for it, but it isn't there, lol. I sure hope I can figure this out w/o changing my whole display in settings, because that will change the browser for everywhere I go ...ugh... I have a brand new laptop in my room that I have not even connected to the internet yet. Perhaps I will have to now. UGH, I am soooooooooo dreading Vista with all I have read about it, waaaaaa.

I have no idea if this will help, but if you go under view and change text size then go to Tools, internet options and the advanced tab.  I have a box to check to return to 100%.  Maybe you could uncheck that??
