Pearl Jam Black http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFVlJAi3Cso "Black" Hey... oooh... Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay Were laid spread out before me as her body once did. All five horizons revolved around her soul As the earth to the sun Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn Ooh, and all I taught her was everything Ooh, I know she gave me all that she wore And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds Of what was everything. Oh, the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything... I take a walk outside I'm surrounded by some kids at play I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear? Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin round my head I'm spinning, oh, I'm spinning How quick the sun can drop away And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass Of what was everything? All the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything... All the love gone bad turned my world to black Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I'll be... yeah... Uh huh... uh huh... ooh... I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a sun in somebody else's sky, but why Why, why can't it be, why can't it be mine Aah... uuh.. The Hollies Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lP94PlEtsEQ ++++++++++ Saturday night I was downtown Working for the FBI Sitting in a nest of bad men Whiskey bottles piling high Bootlegging boozer on the west side Full of people who are doing wrong Just about to call up the DA man When I heard this woman singing a song A pair of 45's made me open my eyes My temperature started to rise She was a long cool woman in a black dress Just a 5-9 beautiful tall With just one look I was a bad mess 'Cause that long cool woman had it all I saw her heading to the table Well a tall walking big black cat When Charlie said I hope that you're able, boy Well I'm telling you she knows where it's at Well then suddenly we heard the sirens And everybody started to run Jumping under doors and tables Well I heard somebody shooting a gun Well the DA was pumping my left hand And she was holding my right Well I told her, "Don't get scared 'Cause you're gonna be spared" Well I'm gonna be forgiven If I wanna spend my living With a long cool woman in a black dress Just a 5-9 beautiful tall With just one look I was a bad mess 'Cause that long cool woman had it all Had it all, had it all, had it all... Title: Re: Rock and Roll- Now and Then Post by: casa on September 29, 2007, 11:01:14 PM Quick triva question???? does anyone know what in a gada di vida stood for???? A commonly repeated story says that the song's title was originally "In the Garden of Eden" or "In the Garden of Venus" but in the course of rehearsing and recording, singer Doug Ingle slurred the words into the nonsense phrase of the title while under the influence of LSD. I found this but not sure it is the true story. Title: Re: Rock and Roll- Now and Then Post by: Peaches on October 20, 2007, 09:28:07 AM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c-XuIxFFk8
Todd Rundgren from about 1978. "A Dream Goes on Forever." For a long time, I had "I guess I believe that I'll see you one day, for without it there is no dream". This is the song that comes from. I saw TR many years ago at Pershing Auditorium. Probably about the time his album "A Wizard and a True Star" was out. He was fabulous. Goofy as hell but such a great musician. Something about that lime green spandex unitard was just too weird. But what a great concert. At one point, Todd climbed up and sat criss-cross-applesauce on top of a stack of huge speakers and sang all by himself. It was wonderful. WOW Peaches...DH is a huge Todd fan! We have most if not all of his albums in the basement along with hundreds of others and no working turntable. Best we try and fix ours or all those albums put on CD before it's too late! Title: Re: Rock and Roll- Now and Then Post by: Peaches on December 06, 2007, 05:46:05 PM Have we mentioned Bob Seger? This is a hysterical parody of one of his big hits.

free-soda promise Get a coupon for a free soda on Sunday Last Edited: Friday, 21 Nov 2008, 7:03 AM CST Created On: Thursday, 20 Nov 2008, 8:01 PM CST * By LILY FU, Special Contributor LOS ANGELES - Dr Pepper is making good on its promise to give out free sodas now that Guns N' Roses will be releasing its infamously delayed album, " Chinese Democracy ," on Nov. 23. "We never thought this day would come," Tony Jacobs, Dr Pepper's vice president of marketing, said in a statement. "But now that it's here, all we can say is: The Dr Pepper's on us." Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, coupons for a free 20-ounce soda will be available for 24 hours on Dr Pepper's Web site . They will be honored until Feb. 28. Work on "Chinese Democracy" began back in 1994. But soon after, frontman Axl Rose's reported authoritarian grip on the project pushed out members of the band, including lead guitarist, Slash, who went on to join the band Velvet Revolver (which is now on indefinite hiatus). Fourteen years, 14 recording studios, 14 tracks and various band members later, the album will go on sale Sunday at Best Buy stores. http://www.kxan.com/dpp/news/strange/offbeat_losangeles_dr_pepper_112020082100038 |
