Pennsylvania Woman Charged With Taking 12-Year-Old Boy to Prostitutes
Friday , August 24, 2007

 DONORA, Pa. —

A woman was accused of taking a 12-year-old boy to two houses of prostitution and paying for him to have sex there.

Linda Van Pool, 36, of Donora, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors and other crimes.

Van Pool is the second person charged in the case. In May, Kathleen Waggoner, also of Donora, was arrested on the child endangerment and corruption charges.

Waggoner, a bartender, gave Van Pool the money to pay for his time with at least two prostitutes, police said. Van Pool is charged with actually taking the boy to the prostitutes

Anna, FWIW, my lab puppy loves her Kong, even when there are no treats inside.  But then she chews on pretty much anything.  Including cat poop.

I finally just hid the Kong from that Yorkie.  He was driving me nuts to get the treats out.

Next time, I will give it to him without the treats and see if he will just play with it.  Prolly he will then want to know where the treats are!  Easier to just give him the treats already outside of it.

I thought he would enjoy the challenge, etc. and was trying for some kind of mental stimulation but not the kind I got, lol.  Lap dogs tend to be more dependent than even the larger terriers I have found. 

The Westies will play with just about anything and come to think of it, think they will get the Kong instead of the Yorkie.

A's I have no idea where that much GHB was headed but since there is no legitimate use for that drug off the pharm market like that, it is truly terrifying to see that much in the hands of one person.

And he was stopped for speeding!  Not even stopped for suspicion of possession of illegal drugs.

I do hope some in that area will take this opportunity to caution people about this and the use to which that particular drug is put. I dare say many will even read that and not realize what 20K doses of GHB represents.  Until Natalee, I might not have realized just what that could represent myself.

Just hope some in the area are warning folks especially young girls to be very careful.  Could have been headed just about anywhere, I know, but still, if that one was caught and for speeding, how much of this got through without interdiction?

Those found with this particular drug in their possession should receive more severe punishment for its purpose is to victimize another, unlike most drugs which are for the purpose of the one who buys and takes them.  Whole new category in my opinion in a drug to be used on another human being.

As you guys know, I have been working on info and pictures, the IMO are of interest around the home of John Steven Burgess who was this week named as a suspect in the disappearance of Donna Jou (great thread on SM here)

Anyway, this case keeps getting weirder and weirder, even down to the smirk he has in Court this week... where have we seen a weird case we thought couldn't get any worse and a smirl???? :roll:

It seems that Donna Jou's disappearance may be getting lost "in the wash". However, Court appearance is down by LAX and the family is flying in. Perhaps we will have  to rally the Monkeys. Still the LAPD won't let in TES... I hope they have evidence we don't know and a big excuse of why not letting them search... that is why I did, IMO, areas of interest around his house.

OK.. thanks to the Goodness of Klaas, her encouragement, along with Mrs. Red, Anna, Old Fart, Tim Miller and other Good Monkeys, I may, tonight, have my right hand, left hand and brain close together  :lol:

Here's a test of the map that goes with the pictures. I divided it into areas of interest and all are within a mile and a tad on each side of his house. Tim Miller thinks she is near or 0-5/7 miles. The last text message, according to news articles, came from near his home.... the one that called her mom "Mommy' and was in Capts. A way she didn't write. She also, like Natalee, wished to become a Doctor.

Area B is the closest, loneliest, darkest place, a hut, gate open to freeway, soft and hard dirt.. you could scream at night and no one could ever hear you!!! and it dead ends. One of the two areas of the 4 where some locals who have lived in the area for many decades say you could hide a body Only about 2 blks east of the suspect's house.

the Virgo part of me is "brained-out" Do I start there, the most logical, quick place or in Area A where the tool box was found???

My neighbor doesn't drive and wants to go donate at a certain Goodwill... so part of the deal is that she ride with me for the pictures. However, Area B, C, and D was done along with pictures taken from the car and the dog along. Was familiar with Area B, sort of, for filmed in that area years ago.. but it was so lonely and the end gated, I could have gotten "blocked in" but didn't think of it at the time.

The only time I got out of an Area was a cul=de=sac in area D.

According to another google map I will post on the Donna Jou thread.. it is a mile to the end of Area A (rr at grade and the tool box in the last 1/3) of Area A..

To area end of Area C is a shorter area, I think.

One of the newspaper articles said the tool box was found 1 1/2 miles away from his home near the I 10 and 405 junction and it is.. sort of but I found it to be closer.

The first time I went into Area A I didn't have my camera but told the neighbor where I thought the tool box was left and the next week I had the "fate, luck" to ask a resident out in his yard and he was the one who found it. My spot was right on.

The resident said he told the press what was in the tool box.. then the other 1/2 of it was locked, so only the LAPD and Orange County Sheriff's know.

I used to live for about 34 yrs....about 7 big blocks north as the crow flies and over the the Rancho park Golf course from where the tool box was. As everywhere in LA... you just be extra careful at night

I can't understand why he left the tool box there when he had a storage unit with another guy at the corner of Motor and National.

I think I'm just tired tonight.  I even had pizza delivered, and that's a rare occasion.  Just lazy...Hard to get motivated.  I find I've been going off into google images and looking at things there.  I start looking at castles, places in Galveston and just get deeper and deeper into looking at stuff.

Yes, but not by me!!! You can drive into it (a pole was up July 29th but down now) and you can walk into it. Right next... a few feet..  above the "gorge" I call it a "gorge" for the RR goes down about 40 + feet down between the // street and the park. There is a foot bridge over from the park.. by the way..
I found a big round hole cut in the fence a few feet from the tool box.

A little background:
I had to wear special shoes when I grew up and so used my hands behind me to get down slopes of slippery rocks for I was afraid of heights and falling. From this hole is an indentation like a "V" down the "gorge". I would make it, if I slid down there or you slide something wrapped down there.

Then about 200 feet east of that is the RR tunnel. I used to, about 1984, drop meals off under this overpass at Motor for the homeless. I had an ex=marine friend with me. He would call out a name of a homeless man he knew and they'd all appear. At the time, I don't think I was aware of the tunnel being there.

The round hole cut in the fence really bothers me. Like where I thought the tool box would be, if I make any sense, here I thought, first, the searching LAPD might have done it, but why slide down there and get all dusted up when you can drive or then, because the pole was there, at grade level at Overland, you could walk. Or maybe ask the resident to go through his private gate.

TES really needs to come in here!!! Mrs. Red insisted I call Tim Miller a few weeks ago. He and I have talked a few times. He thinks she is near. He's so neat :smt052 and I hear the same about his wife and staff, plus all the volunteers.. some have been our Monkeys. I think he is in Ohio now. Wonder if Marilee is there!

The Klaas "fixed me up" with a family member. This family is really hurting.

Beth had PR knowledge and how to work the system plus MSM and an "in=your=face" with LE like Beth and Natalee's family did. Not every family can do this or have the resources.

This family is very spread out... the suspect's area is about 65 miles north, I guess, of the mom  Rancho San Margarita in Orange County, way south of Disneyland, where Donna was spending the summer and the father works in Houston. Again, his father has asked TES to search and LAPD says no, not ever without t-shirts and media.

Well, gang.. Areas C and D are owned by Culver City. so HA HA

The non-track Areas A and B in LA might be owned by Cal Trans or LA Metro Transit for the RR areas are supposed to be a light rail someday. or Areas A and B might still be owned by Southern Pacific but are in LAPD jurisdiction.

I have found a great place for TES Hdqt... the Culver City Elks.. big parking lot, banquet room, kitchen, enclosed patio, Hall and bar  :roll: a motel and a park across the street and an Irish Pub across the street in back... what more is needed and about a mile and 1 1/2 to the Areas of IMO interest.

IMO the most important thing is finding Donna alive and if not then getting the Justice she and her family deserve... and who cares if you step in LE or whomever's or whatever's toes.

Little perks of interest in this case.. just aren't cutting it.

I love Galveston! Spent a month + there working July/Aug. of 1973.. so hot in the cotton storage places. Can't even remember the name of the movie... The people were great!!! It was the last time I saw my dad before he died. We had fun on that trip together, mom, dad and me.

But, they said a hurricane was coming and the only basement was the Galvez (sp) Hotel where we were on housed....that was the good news....the bad news... the rattle snakes come out in the streets. You have never see a crew work so fast to get out of there. I got a speeding ticket on the way back!! Was driving a crew member's car back and didn't realize I was going 85 in Texas. Had to go to jail and pay the ticket right then and there! Man, those troopers were impressive.

In 1998, I think, then a close friend of my late mom had a surprise birthday party for her 90th. We drove from LA to Houston and then they took us to Galveston, same hotel again!. The friend flew in mom's friends from Indiana.

My way of getting around is to drive and the check gets thin at the end of the month.

IBE I haven't been following thee Donna Jou case much, but I did read there tonight. You have really been doing alot of work on this. I have been at work alot recently and out with the kids more than usual. Just been tired too, have no idea why. Take care guys, I am going to get ready for the munkee bunkee.

July 6: Sheriff's officials narrow their search to Burgess. The license plates and descriptions of his Ford Ranger pickup and motorcycle are publicized.

July 8: A man finds a plastic tool box stuffed under bougainvillea vines about a mile and a half from Burgess' house. Inside the box are the vanity license plates "SINJIN 1" from Burgess' truck, a black motorcycle helmet, rubber dishwashing gloves, rope and a scrub brush

July 9:Orange County sheriff's investigators and members of LAPD's robberny/homicide division return to Burgess' house and spend hours interviewing his roommates and searching the property. Several knives are found in a backyard cabinet and are being tested for blood residue."

Very good teacher.. April, she trained under Donna (forgot last name) who started it. These are my mental health courses along with Scared Monkeys. The 4 hr course was only $29 plus $15 in materials. Can't beat that.

Well have to go find my bushes and something to wear over my clothes.. I seem to do this painting like I do rooms.. a tad on me!

I am mostly lurking because I still don't feel well and this heat is just too hard on those of us who have asthma.  The meds for the asthma make us more susceptible to the effects of the heat.  I feel I have to empty and scrub all my dog's water bowls and their little wading pools every day as they want to go outside and play no matter how hot it is.  Very hard in the heat and takes me forever with all the breaks, etc.

IBE, I am reading your posts about Donna.  I think the tool box was left for a reason or used in some way.  That Area A is where I think I would look if I could.  There has to be a reason for abandoning the tool box there.  Is that a small body of water of some sort, the green or blue part of Area A?

I don't understand people who refuse the assistance of TES especially when they have not found anything themselves.  Yes, reminds me of Aruba in that regard.
Seems that the family has the right to ask whomever they want to search.  At least that is the way it should be. 

getting ready to comb the dog and cat.. have you seen the flea catcher at planetnatural.com??? It's made of plastic, with a night light. The fleas are attracted to the light/white then get stuck on the white sticky paper on the bottom. It's like a night light 2 in 1. You can replace the sticky paper when needed. Even caught a fly once. Guess he was out late at night!

I try to stay away from the flea chemicals because of the Fibromyalgia, but if my dog, cat were outside, it would be a different story.

A duh.. I remember... the green part is Palms Park where there is the Rancho Park/Palms library (LA city) basketball courts, picnic area, then a big grass area, a foot bridge over to the other side of the RR area and then you turn right on the // road, go about about so many feet (see map) and there's the tool box and the hole.

OK, just thought that park might be water, just checking as water is always a fav of perps.

There is a product called Diatomaceous Earth which is totally non toxic but kills insects.  It is what is put into wheat for human consumption to prevent cereal weevils, etc.  You can get it from many pet stores.  It is ground up volcanic rock and very abrasive to insects.  It can be put on pets to kill fleas like flea powder or put around outside to keep them away from your home.

Only problem is it kills ALL the bugs usually, the good ones as well as the bad, scratches their exoskeletons and they die.

Wow... it worked. Anna I will email you, Sure isn't much water to find here, other than the ocean. The LA river is all cement; the local creek is all cement.

There is a very pretty "lake" in Kenneth Hahn State Regional Park.. you and I would call it a pond. Has ducks, a goose, tern, catfish, Russian ladies, older couples, moms with children, people with dogs and fishermen, surrounded on one side by the oilwells, and pumps that are in Culver City, I think and the other side is LA with homes.

I have been there exploring twice. Has info center, Japanese garden with the largest lotus I have ever seen. They we continued up the "wilderness trail" and found a waterfall. I stuck my feet in there, as I missed doing anything illegal in the 60's.

Found out at my age.. the camera catches everything. :roll:The view was great... from Century City to almost to Hollywood. If I'd cont. on around the "mountain" I probably could see Hollywood, but we (my neighbor who I tease about "riding shotgun") doesn't like heat.

It is raining all around me but so far nothing right here but I am very hopeful.  Any will help.  The grass is not only dead, it is totally gone from huge sections.

So while we have had thunder and lightening without any rain before, I am watching radar and checking outside and hopeful that we will get at least a little rain.  It is raining in Huntsville.  Now if it will just come east a little bit to us here, we will be in business.

N.J. Teen Unlocks Apple's iPhone

Friday was not a good day for AT&T Wireless.

Three separate hacks that fully unlock the Apple iPhone from AT&T surfaced, two of them claiming to be software-only.

Best documented was a hack by George Hotz, 17, of Glen Rock, N.J.

With a little soldering, a lot of command-line computing and about two hours of time, Hotz was able to switch an iPhone over to T-Mobile, which he documented in detail in a YouTube video and on his blog.

The iPhone runs on GSM networks, which only T-Mobile and AT&T Wireless run in the U.S. Sprint and Verizon Wireless use the incompatible CDMA standard.

FOXNews.com ambushed Hotz as he was walking down New York's Sixth Avenue, having just finished a brief interview with FOX News Channel's Shepard Smith.

Hotz was talking into a hacked iPhone as we caught up to him, and seemed remarkably nonchalant about his achievement.

"It'll make me a little more famous when I get to college, I guess," he said.

He showed it to us, and sure enough, there were the words "T-Mobile" in the upper left corner of the screen.


Hotz collaborated online with four other people, two of them in Russia, to develop the unlocking process.

"Then there are two guys who I think are somewhere U.S.-side," Hotz said.

He knows them only by their online handles.

Hotz is selling one hacked iPhone on eBay, mostly to recoup costs from his summer-long project. Another hacker donated an iPhone to experiment with, which is now a mess of parts and wires, and Hotz needs to buy him a new one. Hotz is keeping a third.

As of 5 p.m. EDT Friday, bidding was over $4,500.

Other than that, however, Hotz is not seeking any compensation for unlocking the iPhone.

He has posted detailed instructions on how to do it on his blog, and hopes other hackers can streamline and improve his method so that less-tech-savvy iPhone owners can unlock theirs as well.

"I have zero plans to hack any more iPhones," he told Smith. "This will be the last one I sell."

AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel and Apple spokeswoman Jennifer Bowcock said their companies had no comment.

Hotz said the companies had not been in touch with him.

The AP's Peter Svensson was able to verify that the unlocked iPhone Hotz brought to the AP's headquarters on Friday was unlocked.

Hotz placed the reporter's T-Mobile Subscriber Identity Module card, the small chip that identifies a phone to a GSM network, in the iPhone. It then connected to T-Mobile's network and placed calls using Svensson's account

The people behind the two alleged software hacks, one of which was well documented by tech blog Engadget, are slightly less noble. They're charging money for it.

Engadget tested out a phone provided by www.iphonesimfree.com, and confirmed it worked with T-Mobile. A video showed an Engadget blogger popping a T-Mobile SIM card in and out of a phone, then making a call with it.

The iPhoneSimFree people won't say how much they're charging for the software, or whether the iPhones have to be sent in to them physically to be unlocked.

Another outfit, Belfast, Northern Ireland-based Uniquephones, says it will be selling a downloadable software unlock beginning Saturday at www.iphoneunlocking.com. Pricing will be between $25 and $50, according to Engadget.

"That's exactly, like, what I don't want," Hotz told the AP. "I don't want people making money off this."

Both the documented hacks leave intact the iPhone's many functions, including a built-in camera and the ability to access Wi-Fi networks.

The only thing that won't work is the "visual voicemail" feature from AT&T Wireless, which shows voice messages as if they were incoming e-mail.

Apple may be able to counter the hacks, either with a software patch downloadable through iTunes or with physical changes on the iPhone production line.

Although even hacked iPhones have to be bought from Apple, the company is reportedly getting a cut of the monthly subscription fees from AT&T.

In case you were wondering: Yes, this is all legal, at least in the United States.

Late last year, the Library of Congress ruled that under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, modifying a cell phone so that it runs on a network other than the one it was sold on is not a crime.

Still, since everyone who's bought an iPhone needs to pay a $175 termination fee to AT&T Wireless to break their two-year contracts, any savings achieved by switching U.S. carriers might not be that much.

The real market for unlocked iPhones is in Europe, where the iPhone is not scheduled to be on sale until sometime this fall, and in the rest of the world, which with the exception of South Africa won't see it until next year.

"That's the big thing," Hotz told the Associated Press in a phone interview from his home Friday.

The iPhone's quad-band GSM circuitry ensures that it'll work in almost any country, with any carrier — once it's unlocked.

The iPhone was already made to work overseas using special equipment that hacks the SIM card, the small removable chip containing user and network data every GSM phone needs to operate.

The SIM-chip method doesn't need any soldering, but it doesn't unlock the phone — each new SIM chip has to be reprogrammed for use on a particular iPhone.

"Some of my friends think I wasted my summer but I think it was worth it," Hotz told The Record of Bergen County, which reported his hack Friday.

Hotz heads for college on Saturday. He plans to major in neuroscience — or "hacking the brain!" as he put it to the newspaper — at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

What does all that mean about the Iphone?  One can use it anywhere even without service?  I don't really understand what it means to unlock one.

As sold, the iPhone can only be used with AT&T service.  This KID has "unlocked" the code and figured out how to make it work with any service (T-Mobile, Sprint, etc).  It's a BIG deal for AT&T and Apple.  Alot of people like the iPhone but don't want to switch their cellphone company to AT&T.

Fridays are very busy for me.  Some of us meet at a local restaurant, very casual just whomever can show up does.

Tonight the talk was how in Tennessee some town are refusing to let the farmers use the commercial water supply as they are afraid of running out of water for people.  In this area it was just a few years ago we even had commercial water available and all of us were urged to close down our wells and participate which we did.  So I hope this doesn't happen here as well.

Also I watch Monk and House, about the only TV programs I really like and both are on Friday.  Add to that the heat, and well, Fridays not much out of me as far as posting.

Was hoping to catch Carnut in the cage to find out what the movies look like for the weekend, however.  I know Lord of the Rings is showing all three but not sure I want to watch that at all. 

Also there is a very light rain falling but enough to create runoff from the roof, etc. so it is a real rain if ever so light.  If it were not dark outside, I would go out and enjoy walking in it.  Wonderful and hope it rains all night long but it won't.  Maybe it will be enough to revive the grass, anything is more than welcomed.

Anna you mentioned that perverts like water. Water is hard to find in most part of LA and the 88 cities in and around them... Probably have more water in Orange County and San Diego County... LA County has some lakes

Mention that I went to Kenneh Hahn State Regional Park at the top of a small mountain La Cienega Blvd. is the Blvd that seperates that and th orl fields/wells in Culver City.

and then  we walked up the hill/called a mountain in Culver City History books and found a nice, place where no one was, so i took off my socks and shoes and put my fee into the cool water on such a hot day.

Seemed that I missed doing illegal things like that in the 60's as I was a wife of a Viet Nam Air Force Maj. and was a teacher. So that desire has been done.

You could see from Century City on the left (west) to almost Hollywood on the east. If I had taken one of those wilderness trails up and around the mountain I would have seen more.

Hot Air Balloon Crash in Canada Injures 11

SURREY, British Columbia —  A hot air balloon caught fire and crashed in a trailer park and campground Friday evening, injuring as many as 11 people, police and local reports said. Two other people were unaccounted for.

The cause of the accident wasn't known; weather conditions were clear at the time of the sunset flight. CTV television reported that the crash caused at least three 40-foot trailer homes to catch fire, though nobody was hurt in those blazes.

The balloon's basket burst into flames shortly after takeoff, when it was about 25 feet off the ground, according to CTV. Witnesses said passengers screamed and jumped to the ground. The balloon reportedly took off from a grassy field with 12 passengers.

People who had been riding in the balloon suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospitals in the nearby Vancouver area, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Sgt. Roger Morrow said in a statement.

Fifteen ambulances, two air ambulances and eight fire trucks raced to the scene at Hazelmere Trailer Park, he said. Smoke could be seen billowing from the crash site from miles away, according to CTV.

Hi os  :2waver:  I don't recall either which member the interest in Genealogy either, but I remember discussion about it.  Very interesting.  Thank you for the link.  My younger sis :smurfin: has done a lot of research in that area for our family (she belongs to LDS) and I think some of DH's family has done research, but would be kewl to see it all put together.

The LDS church is in the process of microfilming & transcribing all records from all resources everywhere they are allowed, and it will be online for free. I have been researching for over 20 yrs. and have helped many in their research. It is very addicting and I enjoy the history, most of my ancestors arrived in the 1600's early 1700's. I have a database of over 15,000 names.

I work on it for awhile put it aside and go back to it. Always learning..Organizing is the most difficult when you accumulate so much info.

I have met so many great folks over the years.

Many schools now ask students to do a pedigree, everyone calls me lol. I am in the process of putting together a notebook of DH's family history.

Now with DNA, many families can be connected/proven.

The LDS church has a free genealogy program here http://www.familysearch.org/, 1/2 way down on right, it's called PAF (Personal Ancestral File) you can download free and begin to enter your family history, that is what I use along with Root's Magic (not free), when you get stumped, google Rootsweb.com, or county, state you are looking for, most states have a genealogy website where you can find names, census records, cemetery listings, tax records, marriage and death records, these are free sites also. Ancestry.com is not free, costs about $300.00 per year, has lots of info. but I would use it as a last resort.

Court houses, Genealogical Societies and Libraries can't be beat if you have access. I joined my local library, access it online and have access to Heritage Quest (another great free resource-census records, family histories, revolutionary war records.

PAF is a stand alone program, nothing goes to LDS.

I agree about chat, it was fun meeting and getting to know some members in a private setting, didn't have to worry about being made fun of, have our words taken out of context or copied over the Internet. It was my first experience in a chat room (shooo can't let my kids or grand kids know I was in a chat room lol) and very enjoyable.

I think people were more more open in Chat  in that  non Monkeys could not read.
Just somehing about being registered... and the level of trust... Which may not always be correct but most of the time is.

I think / hope we all know not to post any thing that you would NOT want to appear in your local newpaper as well as any other Newspaper any where in the world.

My problem with Chat was keeping up and not being able to read stuff from when I was not there.   I think I could have logged in ...  and hours later hit save/print and had a record to go thru  but why should I have to.

Hi Monkey Friends!

Dihannah and I are ok.  It was kind of scary for a while and the tornado touched down not too far from where the command post was. I was at the command post and Dihannah and the search groups were still out.  They were a little farther away so didn't get the brunt of it. They all made it back safe.  Thank God!

The families of the missing men were at the command post all day and are just the nicest people.  They gave me permission to post pictures of them and say some things about them in the MP thread and will do so in the near future.  A mom whose daughter has been missing for 4 years was also there.  More about all of this in the MP when my brain is functioning better. 

We are going back tomorrow so I need to hit the monkey bunkey as you all say.  Good Night!

Uhm no.  It was just a normal little smiley with a little stinger.  I probably have it here somewhere. I am so "old school" post it notes and spiral.  I really gotta get more puter literate and learn to save, bookmark and etc.  I tend to write things down...

Was to teach at Taos pueblo years ago and another position opened up in a different area.

Later, when in a divorce, my mom asked a friend of hers if I could visit.. and get back together with oneness of nature, people down to earth, laughing, singing. Chama New Mexico.

I helped at a Lodge/motel that had a great Indian store. I remember the owner complaining how fake Indian things were coming on the market (1971) and how they would run... for some reason I remember red and white but I can't remember if it's connected to a certain Tribe or Pueblo or even at all.

Maybe Mexican. I know I have seen one like this somewhere.

I also have a huge loom in storage so maybe in books years ago.

I was wondering if the striped blanket/sheet/curtain ~ background is flannel, or does it appear to be like that because of the graininess of the photo?  The serape's that I am familiar with from New Mexico, had a much wider stripe weave.

Thanks for asking.. finally was able to get the leaves not to look like green whales. First we had breakfast.. yum.. my kind of workshop

 then we painted a landscape with birch trees along side some water (reflection). I dapped too much green in and the upper part of the trees couldn't be found  :roll: Happened to others and they repainted. I wanted lunch and the paint was trying too fast... never will sit near the AC again.

We then did a canvas with green then black on top of it.. so the green showed through and the put sunflowers there... I was too close to the A C so the paint tried too fast. We had lunch and a great cake from Hawaiian something.

about half way through I had a Fibro thing.. where I get instantly tired. So I painted my sunflowers as if I were a kid and  had scraped most of the leaves off (trying to stay away from whale leaves :lol:)

Then we did a plate with Queen Anne's lace, I think and some purple flowers on the other side... Finally I "leaved out" Oh then a bee... my bee's wings looks as if they should go with a dragon fly.

The instructor is April Numamoto. She has been chosen by the lady who started the One Stroke Painting to teach 4 workshops across the nation in furniture and wall decorating in the Spring. Three day workshop. You get a certificate, in case you wish to have a career in it. She'll do one in CA in April.  Most of the class have taken many of her courses and practice in between.. I have not practiced

bought some books and a CD she gave us goody bags and I am too tired to look.

As she would demonstrate on an easel her family had a camera hooked into a monitor in the front of class and would zero in on here work or the sample of what we were doing. That was neat. There were about about 24 there.

IBE - sounds like a fun class.  I love to paint and do work with clay/ceramics and all that stuff.  Never enough time though!  Like to crochet too but again, not enough time.

 I know I show as a guest.. I stay on SM.. even when not signed in. Makes it more easier to read for me,, IMO
  Work has been busy for me.. and I do not have the luxary at work  to read or post. The owner is the only one with access to email .. etc on AOL in his office , which is locked up tight when he isnt there.
   Store was busy as hell today. due to the 300 million jackpot with our lottery.  I was stuck their all day/evening. OK fine.. I was getting cranky too..  pfffttttttttt. what pisssed me off is the owner knows I dont feel well for one..
 But he didnt want anyone else running it..  I make typos here.. and Imagine that. I can be a damn asst manager of a store without making many mistakes,,  :roll:
 Anyhow.. have an older bimbo looking woman who comes in.. she spoke long ago about how her 16 and 18 yr old were going to Aruba,, I said OMG .. way back then.. talked to her about Natalees case  :(  She said my girls will be fine . She comes in the store. ALWAYS has an Aruba BB cap on and a tee shirt.. she says to me today.. If she wins the 300 million. she will pay to have the store shut down... everyones wages. and a trip to Aruba.. I told her Id have to pass  on that offer.  :roll: :roll: :roll: I said I will work by myself before my ass would ever go there.
  She got  pissed off.  Work sucked bad enough.. My arm feels like it has been torched... to be there and be miserable sucked to begin with.. But I put on my happy face   :cool:   This lady pisssed me off so bad,,  even though my voice sucks..  others heard me. and I told her shes damn lucky her girls came back to PA in one peice.
  She saw my splint on my arm  too and asked me who I had hit.. I said Nobody.  YET :)   :shock:
  ..I was a miserable bitch to say the least... Least I am honest. BUT all in all. As mad she she made me.. When I did the paper work at the end of the night.. It was a few bucks over. This wench has been snotty with me ever since she said her gals were going to Aruba before. I gave her the SM addy to read for herself back then.

You like Vegas; maybe you and your family can take a break... I see in my goody bag there is a Creative Painting Convention at the Riviera Hotel.. Jan 27-FEb4.. $85 reg and lots of classes.. short ones, like 3-4 hrs. www.vegaspaint.com  (http://www.vegaspaint.com)$19 for 4 hours of each class plus materials. (I won't be going but sounds like fun)

I have the class directory booklet in front of me... request one if possible. The pictures are great of the classes.

The instructor I had today is teaching class #612,, Tea time .. looks like morning glories in shades of blue, blueish/purple.It's a One Stroke painting ( can tell the technique now) but I know she is a certified soon to be national instructor in this..a  beginner class... you actually, with her, come out with something that looks like what it is supposed to/ Gee, done with all flat brushes and 1 liner!!!

Would be nice, in the Spring to have about $250 + for 3 days and get a enough training plus certifed.. furniture, walls etc. In Ontario CA. Hotel is extra.

It's in So CA so is accessable for us.Not sure the $$ is tho.

Spec Event # 704.. it shows the new look of One Stroke Painting with its inventor Donna Dewberry.. I like the IMO "old style" but like the flowers at the bottom.. we did something like that today on canvas. I like the "globbing". The petals are actually formed almost like the leaves.. two strokes combined.

I think that picture shows the use of HD brushes.. high definition.. we used those today.. just don't sit near an AC.. dries too fast while you are doing layers :roll:

I see that WLA college is giving a CafePress class again..this time 2 Thurs. Oct 11,19 $59. Will skip that one, but it's interesting. See that Mrs. Numamoto is doing 2-- one with leopard plate border with a palm tree in the middle or a wisteria on a vine and a Plumeria.. each $19 plud $15 materials.

They have one on "Better Grammar in 3 hrs" I need a Senior Moment refresher. $29 and no materials needed  :lol: :lol: except a teachable brain.

Love CA... some classes such as what used to be a Community college are only $20 an hour now!!! No reason for anyone in CA not to attend college at some time in their life! You can get you degree there or go there for 2 yrs and transfer all your course to USC, UCLA, LB. the UC-Irvine  UC SD and SDState...

A person who had to work and raise a child could get one class in sometime. Might take longer but it's only $20 a semester hour.

Some degrees are done just on weekends.

My"escape from home challenges  was through education. Can't see why some of these kids who have abuse or stress lives at or work don't save for these inexpensive classes at night and on the week end as an escape to a better life. You could make enough money to take one or more courses a semester on money made in MacDonals... if you be careful and take your own food if it isn;t given to you and the monthly bus passes.

Some have child care for day and evening student.

Well, end of rant on escaping out by the education route.

Maybe they are interested in a certificate in Computer Crime.. are you?? 4 Saturdays at UC Long Beach; instructors, I think are 4 LE from Orange County.. $195 for each... cheap compared to UCLA extension or even other reg. classes. $95 for the Certificate.. Computer Forensics, ID Theft, Internet Safety, Internet Stalking, Internet Terrorism ( think)

Well, the older girl I mentored and marlee in Ohio help with contribtuions so she and her sister could go to leadership can.left for Utah today to become a nurse.

She wil stay in a build with classes and dorms about a block from the Temple. I think you member me telling you, that when I met her about 4 1/2 yrs ago, she was very depressed, dressed in gothic black stype thins, nailss, dyed black hair.

I bought her and her sister some cloths so we could go to leadership, patriotic, Vets Affairs workshops;, hospitals. The made themselves and me proud by being great Americans; and also winning many awards for their age groups in the Juniors... Poppies, Fitness, Leadsership, Edcuaton, Legislative, Children and Youth..

The youngest one, now 16, is in independent study for she want's to be for she gets extra research and in depth things plus what required. She just marched up nicely from her councils and said she wasn't learning and wished to be to independed study. She is excelling. Sometimes we watch Book TV. She's a Junior and donsn't even have a computer.

They live in the same mobile home complex that I do.. Until one left for college today, it was 2 daughters, a son, an uncle, father and mom in a 12 wide trailer.

The younger girl said she got more BR space with her sister liviing :lol:

She is Honorary Junior Department (State level) CA Chairman for Children and Youth is year... I am thinking about things having to do with Internet Safety, Sex prev, thanks to watch out far... what online service has safeguards and have here be active when TES arrives... I think I could get to to blossom into some type of award winning National Program this yeas anst eh American Legion Auxiliary as it stated as one of their areas under C&Y, but no on, even on the Nation, has done anything about it.

Sure wished she had a computer. So many times when she'd watch Book TV we do followup looks ups or explored. Had one but the mom is ill and I think it was sold.

son was into robots and very good at it... after the computer went.. he had to go to a special school for being tryrent.

cream. solid weave then then it had stripes of the colors dark pink, darker raspberry Mixed in., in stripes.  I Was long enough to hand over my full bed.. know I had folded it before we moved... it still may be backed here and not in storage. It brought by their family, so was a big thank you

Wreck and Angie ~ I agree with both of you.  IMO the feel of the forum is splintered now.  I used to go to our LCD thread, knowing I could catch up on the Natalee news and our Monkeys' news at the same time. 

If folks didn't want to read monkey news, they could cruise on by.....doesn't take that long.  No doubt people ignored my horned frog, and that's fine.....it's rare I have something important to say.

It was posted that Natalee's relative didn't appreciate the LCD thread and how it worked.  I just don't understand why after all this time, it was a problem.  But, I'm not the one with a missing child, so I certainly want to respect the family.

I've noticed that even the NATALEE thread has not too many postings, lately.  Actually, the Missing Persons thread is flourishing......isn't that a double-edged sword..... :sad:

It's just a shame that postings are slowly diminishing.......hopefully, it's just monkeys returning to school, work, family stuff . . . . but, in my heart of hearts, I fear it's the rerouting of the forum.

Bottom line *finally* for me ~ Red, Dugga, Klaas, San, *******, Mrs. Red ~ you're all in charge here, and if this is what is best in your opinion, then so be it.......I need to deal with it, or get the heck out of the cage.

Hi everyone. I wanted to take a minute to say I agree with what Angie says about a family member of Natalee's. That family member has been posting here since Natalee first went missing, and is in close contact with Beth. She has said several times recently that she has never been offended by off topic on Natalee's thread.

The one-thread concept was what made SM different from other forums and made it special. It was what built us into a family. I have even heard people who are fairly new to SM say that lately. They have mentioned that while having lots of separate threads works okay on various forums, that SM didn't develop with that format, and that it doesn't work as well at SM.

I'm not being critical here - simply reporting what people are saying. I hope that the information is taken in that light.

We're all still here, we just have to divide our attention. I have been VERY busy lately and it's hard to jump from forum to forum. I don't see us as losing steam just yet. This is definitely a busy time for lots of people.

I suspect that after Labor day, we will see plenty of posting again.

I dont know where to post this so Klaas, please help me...an email that was set up for information on Natalee has been infiltrated and an email has gone out to everyone on that list from Richard, that he is stuck in Africa and needs money...ITS A LIE...Richard is back in Conn with family. When my son was in high school, about two weeks before summer ended and school started I would start waking him up at 6:30am so the first day at school wouldn't be such a shock, LOL.  :lol:

Right now we do have a one thread concept and anything goes in Musings.  The only thing that is missing in that thread is the discussion of Natalee.

I do not see a problem with that and when we need to look for information in her case it is easier to search in that right thread without going through a bunch of posts that don't belong there.

In my opinion we have some people who are unwilling to accept this change and are making things difficult.

We were suppose to support each other but I see that has changed and I find it a shame.  I am disappointed in quite a few people for their actions and I myself no longer trust them like I used to.  If you could turn on SM this quickly what makes me believe you wouldn't turn on me that way.  This is my opinion.

Yes we all miss chat but it doesn't mean you close the door on SM.

HOW about the fact that it wasn't that family member I referred to... and I TOLD ANG that in chat... and I will repeat it.  There was a family member that requested this.... it is not her,  it is not a family member that posts here!!! IT is a member of Natalee's family that reads here.... I have NO IDEA WHY ANY OF YOU WOULD THINK I WOULD FEEL THE NEED TO MAKE STUFF UP....because I don't at all.... I will tell the truth or won't talk... I'm sitting here sweating bullets both physically and mentally.  We just found out we have to replace both AC units (if we want AC to work  :shock:), and the price is 6,000 to 12,000 EACH.  I'm dyin'.

Then, Friday, I found out a 7th grader who is wheelchair bound will be in my Art room ~ that's not a big deal....but, she can only use her mouth to paint and draw.  No movement of hands, feet, etc.  Okay, I can roll with that, too.  Her mother is wanting her to use clay ~ I'm concerned that this is going to turn into a big hoopla.  The mother is *very* difficult.  And, my class is 29 students.....the majority are high-maintenance.  yikes.

tcumom ~ May I offer a suggestion?  See how you can get the mother involved.  See if she can help you figure out a plan so that the student with needs can do the clay.  Ask her if she can even come and help when the clay work is being done, or if she knows someone that can help during that time, with that student so the student is successful.  I cannot imagine have 29 high maintance students all in one place.  I thank teachers that work with students :2notworthy:  I would do anything for some of my kids teachers, whether it's bulletin boards, listening to reading, filing.  They make the difference in my kids lives.  As for the mother being difficult, I can only say it must be difficult in itself to be the mother of a student with those severe disabilities.  Probably carries a lot of pain and frustration, and it comes out onto places it shouldn't.  Not to excuse poor behavior on the part of the parent, but I cannot imagine having a child 24/7 year after year with those problems.  Sigh.  I would do my best to find a way to give that mother some praise, no matter how small, even when you wan to go  :gaah:  I wish you had more help in the classroom.  I used to come in and work with teachers, but never, ever in my kids classes.

Muffy ~ Whenever I have high-needs students, the first thing I do is thank God that we were so fortunate to have a healthy, intelligent son who did not have physical or mental challenges.  With that said, the next thing I ALWAYS do is to put myself in the parents spot (as best as I can) and think about what they deal with daily. 

Many of my parents are wonderful.  Unfortunately, this Mom is one who feels entitled.  Has been the same way with her other two children who have no challenges.  Some people are just this way.  Oh, yes; I will go way beyond what is *expected* . . . I will *never* let it be said I didn't give 100+%.

Mrs Red  have you been looking at shoes for fall?  I know you haven't had much time but, we are talking shoes here.  lol  I have a magazine that came with my Texas Monthly mag this month.  It's called "Fashion" and there are some great looking shoes.  It seems there are a lot of shoes with that 40's and 50's look.  I've seen a few in the newspaper that seem to echo that style

I had my hair colored one time several years ago ~ my hair is/was super dark ~ it had some grey coming in so I had the hairdresser put something on it to only cover the grey strands.

Next day, a student asked why my hair was orange..... and was it for Halloween.

That was the end of my personal beautification attempts on the grey.

I went thru this years ago.. and it worked for me.

Prell shampoo.. mix a little baking soda in it.. and put it on your dry hair. Do your whole head and leave it soak on there about 30 to 40 minutes. I had called my friends mother who had a beauty salon.. that was her advice to me. she also said Dawn dishwashing liquid works and IIRC Tide too.  :shock:

What happened to me was someone swicthed the hair color on the box at the store.. so instead of being brunette.. I was jet black... it was awful.

my hair went from a light reddish brown, auburn to the same color as yours - a shade darker....

I will use Prell.... with two recommendations, it can't be wrong!

She has an aide with her in every class.  The mother does not want student helpers, even to help in the cafeteria.  Part of the Mom's problem is her confrontational attitude about everything.....not just this child. 
I *can* say that we all bend over backwards to be supportive, understanding, and positive ..... the family does have live-in help . . . that doesn't make-up for the situation, but it does ease some of the stress. 
They are quite fortunate in being able to live very well.  Again, it doesn't take away the challenges, but does provide an occasional break. 
Mom is involved in ALL aspects of school, and I will be talking with her daily.

Hair Color That Is Too Dark
Option #1:

If you or your stylist colored your hair and the shade is too dark you have a few options.  Pour some Prell shampoo  into the palm of your hand.  Pat the shampoo on top of your dry hair and make sure the shampoo covers completely.  Leave the shampoo on your hair for 30-45 minutes.  Rinse with warm water. 

Option #2:

Apply hot oil to your hair.  Use extra virgin olive oil if possible.  Wrap your hair in plastic and let sit for 45 minutes.  Take Prell shampoo and pat on top of the oil.  Let sit for 5 minutes.  Rinse well with warm water.   

Option #3:

Apply Queen Helene, Vo5 or similar hot oil to your hair.   Wrap your hair in plastic and let sit for 60 minutes.  Shampoo with clarifying shampoo like Philou Green Apple or Suave clarifying.  Rinse well with warm water.

It's tough for an old dog like me to learn new tricks but at least I am trying to give this a chance.  I agree with your post and San's that some just don't want to give it a try.  It's absolutely no different from the old LCD except Natalee has her own thread now.

And it is so much better to go there and read the latest, scanty as it is, than to try to find out about somebody's missing child amid all the trivia.  Those things are not of equal importance and no one should have to read about their likely deceased child/relative or friend amid some of the things I have seen posted in the Natalee thread in the past.

It's just the right thing to do to have a very serious subject like that separate from silliness.  No one has the right to take devotion and attention meant for Natalee and try to direct it toward themselves personally.  And I have seen people do just that and start posting personal things right in the middle of big news, what little we have had, about Natalee contrary to the claim that we were always on topic when there was news.  We weren't and I include myself in that as I am guilty as any of being off topic.
  The difference is I am trying not to do that any more.

There is no reason on earth why this wouldn't work and in fact work much better.   I feel much more free to discuss trivia here than I ever did in the thread that was supposed to be about Natalee.
And I saw 45 people were online at one time yesterday so I think there are still lots of posts but they are now in more than one monster thread.  Not everybody has the time to sort through twenty pages looking for news.  But I think if you combined the posts here with the ones in the Natalee thread, the Donna Jou thread, etc. you would have a fair number of posts in total.

The weather in the southeast and midwest may also be contributing to lack of participation right now as well.  I know just breathing is an effort for me sometimes lately with this dust and asthma.

I hope all monkeys will give the new format a fair try instead of just complaining.  No one likes change at first, that's just human nature.  But trying to undermine all the effort that has gone into getting the new and BETTER format up and running is just not fair to those who provide it and have worked so hard to get it going.

And yes, there should be a SM even after one particular case is, hopefully, resolved some day.  If justice was found for Natalee Holloway, would we still be calling a thread NH Lively Discussion a year later?  And we have the mothers of two other missing persons posting here now with a third being added soon and want they to feel we have concern for their loved one as well and are not about just one person who is missing when there are so many.

Also, at first it wasn't clear what should go here and what should not but that is working out as well.

JMO but I agree that giving it an honest try is better than complaining. Don't be upset because it will work out in the end.  And I don't think anybody is afraid to post at all.  They just don't want to do so.  Their choice.

In our local districts, teacher's aids are required with special needs students certified or not depending on the class.  I am elementary ed certified and when substitute teaching many years ago worked in those capacities as well as teacher.  Whether it be ESL, physical or otherwise the additional person is there and the head teacher also has to manager lesson plans for the class & for the special needs kids.  With 29 students, I cannot imagine you dividing yourself one on one with all of them within the class period....

I am a little behind, having read here & then the other threads....AND, I haven't posted much because we have been out for much of the weekend....I know I was missed.. :lol: :wink:

I am supposed to use shampoo for color treated hair, but most often, due to budget restraints, I buy Suave, VO5 or White Rain when they are on sale for 99 Cents...seems any of them will lighten it up after a few washings....the color I have done is lighter, though, because the roots don't show as much when they grow in.

 We planted banana peppers in our garden.  Hubby got them and the tag said they were mild ones. Anyhow I picked some the .. stuffed them with hot sausage.. topped with sauce and mozarella and paramsasean cheese.  needless to say.. We think they were HOT nana peppers and were tagged wrong. Im talkin flame throwing.. butt on fire.. need an icecube hot.
    He ate another one last night.. and its not agreeing with him today. He is bed asleep.. gut and butt burning.

We finally got rain 2 days ago & the hi temps are gonna be low 90s. Sure beats the triple digit temps.

I always say I LOVE The heat and I usually do, but that was oppressive!!!

Speaking of the heat down south.....it was a scorcher, here, yesterday.  We had to go to our nephew's birthday party and it was held outdoors...holy moly....they even had a huge big fan blowing on guests under the tents they rented....like Anna has described, it takes the starch right out of you.  We only had a couple of days lately, though, not months of constant heat.  (pretend insert sweating smiley)

I dreaded opening the door to go outside. The heat hit you like a ton of bricks.
Normally I don't like cold weather but BRING IT ON!!!

and it's usually very humid... but it seemed like the moisture in the air just went .... so it was hot and dry but not like AZ dry... but an evil dry... usually my skin does great when I go home... and it is in terrible shape... all air conditioning just sucked all the moisture out of my skin!!

I cant stand the humidty   :-x

We had a little bit of drizzle last night early this morning, TCUMom, thanks for asking.  It did settle the dust some.  And the high today is suppose to be only in the 90's but very humid.  And of course the fog this morning, too, which I love.  Have not had fog in ages as it has been too dry.

Also 40% chance for rain this afternoon!  Yippeee!

Some of you may remember my pretty bamboo that I said was invasive.  Klaas said her hubby said I would never get rid of or stop its spread.

Well, I am going to have to go out in the heat and thin it down drastically as a huge flock of birds are now using it for a roost at night.  There are hundreds of them!!!   :shock: :shock: :shock:

And birds carry histoplasmosis, especially in big roosts like this.   Not spelled correctly but maybe Tyler won't see it, lol.  And they are in the Scotties area, too.

So I will have to make the bamboo so it does not touch and support each other, the stalks, so they can't do that. 

Hoping it is true it will only be in the 90's as I dread doing this because of the heat.

OH I learned this one... there is a thing called SLUG SALOON... just pour beer in it... and it kills them all... they can't resist the smell .... they came with the house when we bought it a few years ago, but I think they sell them at all garden centers or Ace or walmart.... if not just use old saucers!

My only comment in response is that reprimanding people for genuinely feeling the way they do, and accusing them of merely being stubborn and uncooperative, isn't going to win friends and influence posters, IMO.

Also Canidae is very good both canned and dry.  I like Canidae as it is for all ages and I don't have to have puppy food and adult food both, can feed to either.  Very little grain and in broth.

Art, my boys were on a special urinary diet & it almost killed them. My vet changed their diet & told me to add boiled ground beef. He also said they could have green beans, carrots, greens etc.

I am afraid to change food for my cats... they seem to be ok for now.. but thank GOD that I mentioned the oldest was having issues a while back, I swear it was yall who told me that it was the food.... I went back to the old stuff and they were fine... but had I not mentioned it here... OMG!

Since my bro had a little old chi that died from the dog food problem, I cook for my yorkies.  I make sure they get black strap molasses, wheat germ, eggs etc. There are a lot of sites for making your own dog food.  The vet had me giving one of my yorkies science diet for overweight dogs, and guess what the first ingredient listed is?  corn.  Dogs don't digest corn well.  And since I've been cooking for my dogs, my porkie yorkie is at a good weight now. The vets make $$ selling dog food.  A lot of the food has rice in it as well. Rice?

Onions are not good for them.  No avocado, no grapes.  Sweet potatoes are good source of vitamins.  Eggs are okay, I even take the shells, wash and then bake in 250 degree oven, grind into food.  Good source of calcium

our oldest has this new thing for BBQ chips... can't be good for him, but he will fight you for some chips!

Muffy, my vet quit selling or recommending science diet. He now prefers royal canin.
My boys were on the royal canin urinary so. Their glucose level was 0, cholesterol level 0 & liver enzymes were extremely high. Just got my fat boy out of the vet intensive care on Friday. We were scared he wasn't gonna make it. Was touch & go for a few days.

I hope the judge goes beyond the recommendation for Vick. I also hope he never gets to play ball again. IMO what he did is disgusting to put it mildly.

The other stuff they get when I am making meals! They sit there and get whatever drops off the cutting board! Oh, and they LOVE cherry tomatoes!

Supposedly, it's a miracle cure-all mixture for sickly dogs. I'm not surprised by the problems that a lot of us have had with the diets of our animals. You get so many mixed messages about pet food. Some people say "I fed my dog Old Roy (Sams cheapo brand) and he lived to be 20" and others swear that the cheap stuff is dangerous for our pets. I am inclined to believe the latter.

We've always fed our animals nothing but Iams, and they are all very very healthy. One of our girls, Rosie, is a little TOO healthy, if you know what I mean! ;-)

It looks like this Dinovite stuff might be really good to supplement dog food with. Either that, or I've once again fallen victim to advertising hype.

One of my little yorkies has allergies to grasses and such.  On the advice vet, I give her a children's chewable benadryl tablet stuck in a pill pocket, when her allergies are acting up.  Works if they get stung by insects too.  I used to try to give her children's liquid benadryl, but ended up with more of it on us then in her. 

I dont have any pets anymore  :(

Do you remember the flap about dog food that was revealed when there was the big recall?  Companies that made dog food and sold it cheaply under name such as Old Roy took that same dog food and labeled it differently as a premium type dog food and charged more for it, but was SAME food as Old Roy?  A lot of consumers were mad, because they thought by paying more for the food, they were giving their dog a better product.  Not always so.  I guess we have to read the labels.

I agree, Muffy. This is great advice. We used to own an English Bulldog, Reggie. One day he got into something out in the grass and his face swelled up like a balloon. His folds were all gone away! hahaha. We shoved a couple of children's Benadryl down his throat and within 12 hours his symptoms had all gone away. We never did find out what he was allergic to.

Poor old Reggie. We ended up having to find him a new home in his old age. He began to develop really bad bathroom habits - not for health reasons, but for behavioral reasons, and we gave him to another faimly who could spend more time with him. He was a big turd, but he was fun.

NO RAISINS FOR DOGS!  Those can actually kill them if they eat a lot.

Linatone Shiny Coat is a supplement much like Dinavite but a liquid source of Omega Fatty Acids that ALL dogs need much like out taking fish oil capsules.

This is a terrific supplement for any dog but especially those with allergies and skin issues or scratching.

I buy it by the gallon!

Ang ~ a pill pocket looks like a hollowed out gumdrop, made of beef, chicken etc.  If you need to give your pet a pill, you take a pill pocket (they are kind of soft), put the pill into top of pill pocket, and squeeze it around the pill.  And you give to dog.  Mine like it so much, they don't spit out the pill.  They come in large size or small size.  The company that makes "Greenies" makes this product.  It is sold at vets, and Petsmart and Petco type places.

Another wonderful supplement for dogs is BeneBac, beneficial bacteria to help with digestion but get the large 15 gram tube as the little individual ones go rancid quickly.

This is like Lactaid for humans and seeds the good bacteria in their little guts so they digest better.  Also, it, too will help with allergies.  You only give about every four weeks or so.  Digestion improves tremendously.

I just posted this in the NH thread and wanted to reference it here as well. There seems to be continual questioning as to why we have separated threads. SM always does things for a reason and frankly we do things on this site to help families of missing and exploited persons first and foremost. All else is secondary in my book. I do find it amazing as to what I have seen commented on in threads and in chat as to the questioning of this site. Do not ever think that RED does not see all.

If we made a comment every time we heard something from a family memeber but were not at liberty to talk about it I would spend 90% of my time of SM telling you Monkeys that I have a secret and I can't tell you.

We have many great things coming up in the very near future with SM and many new and exciting directions. All in an effort to inform and help families.

We also want to provide the ability for you to continue to just talk about topics that you wish to as well. I thank the many of you that have been patient and have embraced the changes implemented at SM.

I'm not angry. After the topic was introduced this morning, I was simply conveying the concerns I have heard people express recently. I was attempting to help answer the question of why posting has been slow and to solve the problem. The whole thing doesn't really make any difference to me one way or the other. I don't ever have to post anywhere ever again about sock monkeys or toothbrushes, and my life would still be pretty much the same.

My most recent comment was only to say that there are people out there who feel the way they feel. I'm not sure that telling them they're wrong for feeling that way will help them feel more comfortable posting here, if they are having problems with that. Having an open discussion and allowing people to express their concerns would be more useful, IMO. However, you can rest assured that I will not bring up the topic again.

Super idea, Anna. Perhaps you should consider doing the same in a canine thread? You're extremely knowledgeable and I always enjoy reading your suggestions for dogs. You might think about popping over into the lounge and starting a thread of your own for this very purpose.

When we had our family doogie, the first one, he had to take pills for siezures later in life. My Dad used the cheezie ball method. And he would take 1/4 of those awful cheeze slices and moosh the cheeze around the pill. Doggie liked the cheeze and I am sure it went down in "  oinked " lump.

Our Monkey family is so splintered, so spread out... Didn't know Robots was hurt; don't know how Peaches is doing or Terry or others???

No even sure where to find anyone any more and the search... well, I have no kind words for the search feature. Sure it will improve.
