Title: Swaying Music --- What is it ????
Post by: oldfart on October 11, 2007, 01:12:48 AM
Ok
I think I brought up or at least expanded on the use of Sway / Swaying for a category of music, so here is the best explanation I can give...

If particular piece of music moves you(for what ever reason) and you want to dance/move to it.. BUT:
You do not dance, not sure how to dance to this music, do not have a partner to dance with or just cannot because of where you are or what you are doing.
If you managed to move to it ... that is Swaying until you break out in full dance mode.

I manage to Sway in my own way to most any music that moves me.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
intransitive verb   a: to swing slowly and rhythmically back and forth from a base or pivot b: to move gently from an upright to a leaning position
transitive verb a: to cause to sway : set to swinging, rocking, or oscillating b: to cause to bend downward to one side c: to cause to turn aside

Some examples of Swaying Music to me include:

Kenny G-Sentimental
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw9jXvH1PYs
Kenny G-The Moment
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmHiUjr_iMg

Barry White - Share
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDt1e7r820o&mode=related&search=
(this one takes a bit to start playing)

Dionne Warwick  - Anyone Who Had A Heart
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkyBMRulHK4

Kevin Lyttle - Call Me
http://www.youtube.com:80/watch?v=l7AomEnx9sk

Offer Nissim - Facscinated
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsJ8wDBVPfc

And Yes even a little semi-country like

Faith Hill - The Way You Love Me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfkBA3WgvHE&mode=related&search=

Whether trying to relax, deal with stress get motivated or a combinations of ...the same music can move us in different ways.

Anyway... JMO on  Swaying

I bet swaying counts as fidgeting.... That means if you do it enough, you can burn some calories doing it!

I have trouble standing still when I hear LeAnn Rimes sing "Nothing Better To Do".   Now there's some swaying in double time!

and from the Club Music thread (http://www.vpsingles.com/pics/bevdel.gif)  (best smiley I could find for carrying something over  )

Offer Nissim And Maya - First Time - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHrK8fuYaW0

I see a lot of people swaying and a few dancing

If we have any Monkeys that work-out this might work...Starts slows..picks-up..kicks butt then has a pause..then back at it.  Hey if it works for a work-out ~ try the next level http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VS-EKCjnIMU   (not much in the video  and not really swaying but ...)

Boy I  need to get out of this thread :smt052
