Eastern District of Kentucky

March 26, 2008

Lexington, Ky. —A Lexington Man was convicted today by a federal jury for sexually exploiting a 15 year old female in Fayette County.

The jury returned the verdict after one hour of deliberation. The evidence established that from around June 2006 through August 2006 Roy Dence Humphrey, 58 coerced the female acquaintance to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purposes of videotaping such conduct. Humphrey’s video camera and video tapes used in the commission of the crime were forfeited.

James A. Zerhusen, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Larry R. Willis, Acting Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Kentucky State Police (KSP) jointly made the announcement today after the jury returned the verdict.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and KSP. The United States was represented in the trial by Assistant United States Attorneys Erin J. May and Brandon M. Marshall. This is a Project Safe Childhood (PSC) case. PSC attempts to prevent children from online exploitation and abuse.

Humphrey is currently scheduled to appear for sentencing before Senior Judge Joseph M. Hood in Lexington, Ky., on July 7th, at 10:30. Because of a prior felony conviction, Humphrey faces a maximum prison sentence of 50 years. However, his sentence will be imposed by the court after consideration, the United States Sentencing Guidelines and the federal statute governing the imposition of sentences.
