Peaches will be having surgery on April 17th.  Please post prayers for Peaches here.

I always have Peaches in my prayers....are we taking a specific timeframe?

Many prayers for our dear courageous Peaches. I love you sweetie!!!!!

I'm offering prayers of healing for our dear monkey Peaches. Gentle hugs for you, as you continue the good fight. 

Hi Peaches

I woke up early this morning ... dawn was just breaking.  I put on my jacket ... grabbed a blanket and ... went and sat on our back sundeck and ... it was just "me and God" along with the chirping of the birds.

Peaches ... I do not know you personally but ... there definite is a connection.  I guess this is what referred to as the "family of God".  It is a spiritual connection that reaches beyond personal relationship ... church affiliations.

Anyways ... my thoughts were totally focused on you and your family in regards to the trial that you are are facing ... the trial that you must all endure together as one.

Well .. "Me and God" had a serious  conversion ... not audible ... but we conversed nevertheless.  However ... as usual ... I did most of the talking.  I pour out my heart to our Heavenly Father and ... every sentence began with "Why Lord?".  His silent response spoke volumes.  The answers were all "hidden" in my heart from a lifetime of daily Scripture reading and ... memorization.

Peaches ... complete trust and faith in a Heavenly Father who loves all his children is what it is all about.  He is the devine author of "The Peaches' Story" and ... He alone knows the last chapter.

I am 61 years old ... been driving since I was 17 years old and ... still cannot parallel park.  I will either drive around the block until a spot becomes available that I can just drive into and ... then I leave lots of space in front of me ... so that I can exit easily.  It is a wonder I have never been "keyed".  The other option is parking in a mall.

You know how I feel about you...never having met you I can only imagine how wonderful you are in person. If I could make this go away for you it would be done...but there is a reason for all this...I can't know why you have been dealt these particular cards in life.  If I had your photo in front of me I would caption it with words like courage and strength and under all that it would say...

Funny thing, I am not really religious, but every so often I check out a website where there is this woman that has a conversation with God.  She calls it praying with a listening ear.

Well, today I visited her site, and she had a new conversation posted today - about Peaches.  Her conversation was about a peach tree that was loaded with blossoms that survived an earlier freeze and a preparations were made for another frost last night.  She talked about the tree sprouting, with the promises of peaches.

As I read her conversation, I could see you over and over in her conversation.  I can see the determination in your updates - you have one of the most positive attitudes of anyone I know. 

You have overcome every obstacle thus far - I know that your blossoms will with this surgery also.   Like this writer wrapped the tree for the most recent frost, know that I am wrapping you in my arms during this current "frost" in your life.

You amaze me all the time.

Dear Peaches

As you know it is the 17th here first, so I started early and have been sending extra prayers all day for your surgery and will continue tomorrow as well.  I know God will send his Healing Angels to stand with the surgeons and the operating team, and all will be well.

You are on several healing lists here also so lots of prayers from our direction heading your way.  You are an inspiration and you are loved and admired by many.

UPDATE from Mr. Peaches   ::MonkeyWink::

Hi this is Dan,

Can you please do me a HUGE favor and let all Peaches friends at Scared Monkeys know that Peaches surgery today went extremely well? I am not very adept at finding the appropriate place to post this. Here is what her doctor told us:

He removed the 5 tumors that we knew were there from the CT scan she had 6 months ago. He found a little bit of other stuff that he suspected could be there that was not large enough to show up on a CT scan and removed it also. He said he looked at everything, they looked extensively up, down and side to side for anything that could possibly be there that wasn't supposed to be there. He said what he found was "limited" and it has all been removed. Peaches has been optimally treated surgically and is now completely free of visible disease. She went through surgery very well and will be in the hospital 4 to 5 days instead of the 5 to 7 days they anticipated. The doctor was very pleased about how everything went.

This is definitely the best case scenario and what I hoped to hear from her surgeon. They removed an insignificant percentage of her liver which will replace what was removed in only 4 to 8 weeks with no impact whatsoever on function.

Thanks for all your best wishes and especially your prayers for Peaches. Please keep the prayers going because God does listen and so far he has answered everyone's prayers by making all of her surgical procedures work out with the best possible results.

Update from Mr. Peaches

I brought Peaches laptop to the hospital today but the hospital network runs too slow and she gave up. We thought it might run faster at night but Peaches had me take it home so it wouldn't disappear while she was sleeping. I will take it back tomorrow and maybe it will not be so bogged down on the weekend.

Good morning!  I am much better today.  Dr. D was just here and NG tube is gone.  I can have liquids today so that's great news.  I already ate the jello.  Dr. says I am doing great.  I've been walking independantly since night before last.  Of course, when I started walking, they had a tech walk with me.  Left her in the dirt! 

I have to get some blood today.  Whatever.  Just puts me one step closer to going home..

This is a great hospital but it's not my house.  From my window here on Seven East, I have a grand view of Buckhead and Atlanta in the distance.  Pretty coool. 

I cannot tell you all how much your prayers and support have meant to me.  I probably should have done a little more training with DH but I knew wherever he posted about my surgery, Klaas would find it and move it where it belonged.  He settled for emailing Klaas and None. 

So today, I am going to get blood, eat jello, suck on that Airlife thingie, and ambulate when necessary.  The suture line is pretty scary looking but Dr. says it will heal just fine.  He better be right!  The scars from the first surgery have healed very nicely so I am not worried about it.  That's pretty much the news here today.

Peaches!!  Big hugs to you!  It was funny because the day of the surgery we hadn't heard any news.  Janet was ready to go to bed but wanted to hear something first.  The minute she signed off I checked my email and saw the message from your husband. WHAT GREAT NEWS!  So I emailed Janet with the news and posted it here.

I'm amazed at how well you are doing!  Don't you just love WIFI and laptops?   ::MonkeyHaHa::

So good to hear from you Peaches!!  You are doing great and we can't wait until you can go home and spend hours with us here in the cage.  Tell the dear doctor he must let you go home soon or a big bunch of monkeys are going to begin a camp out in front of the hospital demanding the release of one of their own.  That would be newsworthy!

Good morning, my wonderful monkeys!  Since I got rid of the tubes yesterday (except port access), Dr. D. said I could probably go home today.  That was his tune yesterday morning and he's running out of reasons to keep me.   I'm eating soft food, walking, etc. 

I have a line of staples from the bottom of my sternum to my navel.  Dr. D said since my other big scar healed so well, he thinks this one will as well.  Good deal. 

I believe I am ready to go home.  Once I get upstairs to my bedroom, I have a dorm fridge with yogurt, juice, etc. and a new deck off the bedroom so I can get outside for some air and some sun.  Weather is supposed to be nice the rest of the week, in the seventies, so I can sit outside and watch the birds.  I got a couple really cool bird feeders for my birthday.  Squirrel proof.  You would think my two large squirrel chasing dogs would give the squirrels a hint.  NOT!  It's great exercise for the dogs and usually the squirrels can outrun the huskie mix and bassets.

I'm seriously hoping to be outta here by lunch time.  Thanks for hanging in there with me.  I was tickled to see my survivor pal TerryD the Peeping Squirrel himself popping in to check on me!  You have all been so wonderful.

Dr. D. was just here.  I'm ready to go home.  Right about now, DH is putting my girl on the bus and then he needs to get on over here and get me out of here!

Peaches, I am so happy to read that you have returned home.  Nothing like our own home for comfort and special TLC.

I am feeling so good it's scary.  I have been up all day without a nap.  I ran a couple loads of laundry (that was no biggie) and had something to eat.  I answered some emails from my office and watered the plants. 

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your keeping me and my family in your thoughts and prayers.  Means the world to me.  Smoochies.
